Myth/ClassicalMythology
* Sons of Kronos/Saturn: The most powerful male Olympians:
** Id: Zeus/Jupiter -- Impulsive, greedy, prone to huge temper-tantrums, entirely motivated by his sex drive.
** Ego: Poseidon/Neptune -- Depending on the mood, could be reasonable or nuts. But in general less impulsive than Zeus and less rigid than Hades.
** Superego: Hades/Pluto -- Brooding, morbid, obsessed with rules and laws.
*** Although in some myths Ego is Zeus -- god of law over men and hospitality, the mediator between other gods and the enforcer of laws (but not in a rigid/unrealistic manner), while Id is Poseidon -- as roiling and angry as the sea, causing trouble. It was Zeus, after all, who decreed that the gods should stop interfering in the Trojan War, and who swallowed the Goddess of Prudence. Of course, Classical myth is one huge ContinuitySnarl, so this is to be expected.
* The grandchildren of Atreus (central characters in Theatre/TheOresteia):
** Id: Elektra -- Angry, vengeful and bloodthirsty, her hatred rules her quest for vengeance (Id)
** Ego: Orestes -- Ready for battle, but willing to stop and think first. Unfortunately, this leads him to wimp out at crucial moments, and he must depend on his friends for help.
** Superego: Pylades -- Wise, clever AND level-headed, a rarity in Greek myths, who only speaks when it's absolutely necessary, but then, his words are perfect.
* The great female Olympians:
** Id: Aphrodite -- Free spirited, sexually open, not shackled down by any duties, reputation, or commitment
** Ego: Hera -- Occasionally impulsive (regarding her husbands other lovers), yet still complies with her responsibilities as a wife, not as sexually open as Aphrodite but not a virgin.
** Superego: Athena -- More concerned about learning, has no interest in marriage or any relationships at all, still a virgin.

Myth/NorseMythology
* In different groups in Norse Mythology:
** Id: Jotnar -- They tend to want to revert the Universe back to its original state of pure chaos.Not all members of the Jotnar are like this, however.
** Superego: Humanity -- We tend to prefer ruleswe give ourselves laws and regulations to adhere to and classify/organize things into categories, subcategories, and even sub-subcategories.
** Ego: The Aesir & Vanir -- They interact with the Jotnarsometimes marrying them, sometimes killing them and humanity, even acting as a viable go-between.

* Among the Aesir:
** Superego: Protectorate Thor, noble and heroic protector of humanity, associated with order, cares about whether or not the gods keep their vows. In a warrior culture, this is perfectly compatible with being a FieryRedhead meelee warrior, as that was what you "should" be. (This role is also sometimes filled by Odin's wife Frigg, "protectress of well-behaved girls" and traditonal rules.)
** Ego: Odin, God of War and fury, but also of wisdom and magic, and leader of the clan. Pragmatic and not beyond the occasional underhanded tactic, but ultimately motivated by postponing the apocalypse as long as possible.
** Id: Loki - Associated with Chaos, whimsical, trickster, has a host of sexual misadventures, entered into the clan through becoming Odin's blood brother, but is originally one of the afore-mentioned Jötnar.

Myth/ArthurianLegend
* Id: Gawain -- HotBlooded badass AntiHero of Arthur's court; will kill, without question or orders, anyone who so much as insults him or his friends. Loves women, partying, and fighting.
* Superego: Lancelot -- The ultimate knight, Arthur's Right-Hand-Man; ever-questing for glory for God and King, and seeking enlightenment through the Code of Chivalry.
* Ego: Arthur -- Mediator between all the knights, especially the above two, who are notably good friends despite absolutely hating each other. Has his faults (women, women, women), but in the end you can't ask for a better leader.

Myth/HinduMythology
* Superego: Brahma -- The creator deity who brings the universe into being
* Ego: Vishnu -- The one who preserves the universe in the here and now sustaining its existence
* Id: Shiva -- The deity that comes along at the end of time to destroy everything so that it can be reborn

Literature/TheKalevala
* Superego: Väinämöinen -- The old sorcerer - demigod who tries diplomacy first.
* Ego: Ilmarinen -- An honest working family man.
* Id: Lemminkäinen -- A young Kasanova whose temper and dick keep getting him into trouble to the point where his mom had to reassemble and resurrect him.

Myth/JapaneseMythology
* The Three Precious/Noble Children of Izanagi:
** Ego: Amaterasu -- The divine Kami of the Sun, and easily one of Japan's most respected deities. It is said that her lineage represents the Japanese Royal Family you see today. She aided the early Japanese society, including empowering women, which was very unique at the time.
** Superego: Tsukuyomi -- Kami of the Moon, the genderless deity with apparently very high standards. They killed Ukemochi, the goddess of food, for the disgusting way she prepared her banquet. However, this would only upset Amaterasu, causing a bitter separation of the two.
