Context Franchise / DisneyChannelAnimatedUniverse

Go To

The Disney Channel Animated Universe is the SharedUniverse that most of the earliest animated Disney Channel Original series resided in, as well as certain shows from Creator/OneSaturdayMorningAndABCKids. Six series were established through various {{Crossover}}s (mostly episodes of ''WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries'' where characters from another show visit Kauai) to exist in the same universe. Although each of the shows take place in generally the same time period, they each have very different premises. With the end of the Western parts of the ''Franchise/LiloAndStitch'' franchise (it continued with the East Asian spin-offs ''Anime/{{Stitch}}'' and ''Animation/StitchAndAi'', both of which removed Lilo Pelekai as a main character), the universe seems to have been put to rest, as its first series was the main place characters from the other shows crossed over to. However, since the 2022 release of a Creator/DisneyPlus continuation of ''WesternAnimation/TheProudFamily''--one of the shows that crossed over with ''Lilo & Stitch: The Series''--called ''WesternAnimation/TheProudFamilyLouderAndProuder'', there is hope that the DCAU universe would be revived.

[[AC:Series unconfirmed to be in the Disney Channel Animated Universe include:]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TeamoSupremo''
* ''WesternAnimation/TheWeekenders''
* ''Anime/{{Stitch}}'' and ''Animation/StitchAndAi'': Yes, both shows are part of the ''Lilo & Stitch'' franchise and both continue from ''Leroy & Stitch'', albeit in separate timelines. Apparently, the "BooGoo" and "A Stinky Episode" episodes of ''Stitch!'' even reference ''American Dragon: Jake Long''. However, while the former anime had [[Characters/LiloAndStitchExperiments Stitch's "cousins"]] return, and the latter Chinese series had people who worked on ''Lilo & Stitch: The Series'' as part of its production crew, neither show directly referenced the franchise's first TV series and none of the other previously-seen experiments besides Stitch himself appeared in the Chinese series. Combined with the fact that Disney in the United States hardly acknowledges the existence of either series due to their controversial nature with the fans, and it's hard to say whether or not they count.
* Any Disney Channel/XD cartoon produced after ''Lilo & Stitch''[='=]s conclusion that isn't excluded below, and any shows they happen to cross with including WesternAnimation/{{Marvel Universe|DisneyXD}} shows[[note]]The fact that ComicBook/HowardTheDuck has appeared on these shows would tend against the Marvel shows counting, but given his status as "Trapped in a World He Never Made"...[[/note]].

[[AC:Series that are confirmed to '''not''' be in the Disney Channel Animated Universe include:]]
* Shows set in a different time period
** ''WesternAnimation/DaveTheBarbarian''
** ''WesternAnimation/TheEmperorsNewSchool''
** ''WesternAnimation/LloydInSpace''
* Shows that include {{talking animal}}s or FunnyAnimals[[note]]Although [[Franchise/WinnieThePooh Owl]] and ''WesternAnimation/TimonAndPumbaa'' ''have'' had cameos in ''WesternAnimation/{{Recess}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/LeroyAndStitch'' respectively, and the ''[[WesternAnimation/DocMcStuffins Doc [=McStuffins=]: Toy Hospital]]'' episode "Into The Hundred Acre Wood" confirms that Winnie The Pooh and Doc [=McStuffins=] exist in the same universe.[[/note]]
** ''WesternAnimation/TheDisneyAfternoon''
** ''WesternAnimation/BrandyAndMrWhiskers''
** ''WesternAnimation/TheBuzzOnMaggie''
** ''WesternAnimation/HouseOfMouse''
** ''WesternAnimation/TeachersPet''
** ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales2017'' (which essentially creates an UltimateUniverse of all the old ''Disney Afternoon'' shows)
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}}'' (very much its' own universe; a crossover with ''WesternAnimation/AtlantisTheLostEmpire'' was planned, but got scrapped when the planned ''Team Atlantis'' show was canned during production)
* Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior series (though ''WesternAnimation/SpecialAgentOso'' and ''WesternAnimation/HandyManny'' are confirmed to be in the same universe as each other, as they had a {{Crossover}}, as well as ''[[WesternAnimation/DocMcStuffins Doc [=McStuffins=]: Toy Hospital]]'' and ''Franchise/WinnieThePooh''.)
* ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Doug}} Disney's Doug]]'', as it was previously on Creator/{{Nickelodeon}}.
* ''WesternAnimation/NightmareNed'' (only because Disney refuses to acknowledge its existence).
* ''WesternAnimation/PepperAnn'', which did cross over with ''WesternAnimation/HouseOfMouse''.
* ''WesternAnimation/BuzzLightyearOfStarCommand'', which is a TV show in the ''Franchise/ToyStory'' universe and presumably occurs in another galaxy.
* ''WesternAnimation/TronUprising'', which takes place in the ''Film/{{Tron}}'' universe.
* ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsResistance Resistance]]'', which, similar to ''TRON: Uprising'', exist in the ''Franchise/StarWars'' canon.
* The ''Descendants'' animated shorts, which again exists in the canon of that particular [=DCOM=].
* Any Disney Channel/XD cartoons post-''Lilo & Stitch'' that have any of the above.
** Separate from the above shared setting, it's strongly implied that ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'', ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'', and ''WesternAnimation/{{Amphibia}}'' take place in the same universe, or at least the same multiverse.[[note]]While the latter two primarily take place in AnotherDimension (not the same one) the human-inhabited Earth of all three is implied to be the same. [[Recap/AmphibiaS3E15IfYouGiveAFrogACookie "If You Give A Frog A Cookie"]] and [[Recap/TheOwlHouseS2E21KingsTide "King's Tide"]] confirms the ''Amphibia'' and ''The Owl House'' connection, first with a blurry picture of the owl house itself taken through a flawed dimensional portal, and then with a news article about Anne Boonchuy open on Camila Noceda's tablet.[[/note]]
