Once again, the four couples (but with Troy this time) go on a retreat in the Bahamas. Drama ensues while Mike makes a return.

!This film provides examples of:
* AesopAmnesia: Apparently, ''all'' of the lessons about trust and assertiveness from the last film were forgotten by Angela and Marcus.
* TheAlcoholic: Gavin is revealed to be this in one scene.
* AmicableExes: Sheila and Mike eventually become this in the middle of the movie when the latter helps Troy get a job & Sheila helps Mike with his cancer by taking him to chemotherapy.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: When Troy tells Sheila that they shouldn’t have left Colorado, Sheila asks Troy this:
--> '''Sheila:''' So you’re blaming me for this?
* TheAtoner: Mike. In one scene, he admits to his mistakes and says that he's trying to be a better man.
* BabiesEverAfter: Troy and Sheila end up having a son in this film. Also, Dianne unties her tubes so that she and Terry can have a son.
* BerserkButton: Taking her money is a good way to piss off Patricia.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Troy goes [[spoiler:berserk when he assumes his wife is cheating on him. He attacks Mike and yells at Sheila. Even Sheila is shocked by his behavior]].
* BreakTheCutie: Patricia gets hit with this twice.
** First, when she goes berserk while destroying all the glass in her house.
** [[spoiler:Second, when she indirectly caused Gavin’s death and she starts crying uncontrollably]].
* TheCameo: [[spoiler:Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson appears at the very end of the film as Daniel Franklin, a wealthy philanthropist, who asks Patricia out on a coffee date.]]
* CassandraTruth: When Angela questions Marcus on who he had in their bed, Marcus said he didn’t have anybody. Angela doesn’t believe him until it’s revealed that it was the gardener and the maid having sex.
* CelebrationMiscalculation: Patricia humiliates Gavin at work by bringing in a giant birthday cake containing a gay male stripper and asking all of his co-workers to sing "Happy Birthday to You" to him, even though it wasn't his birthday. [[spoiler:It later becomes his deathday though.]]
* CharacterDevelopment: Shelia goes through this. In the first film, she starts off as mild-mannered and she never stood up for herself. In the second film, she becomes much more assertive and outspoken. This was actually intentional, as the producers & writers of the second film mentioned the change of Shelia’s personality in the [=DVD=] extras.
* TheCobblersChildrenHaveNoShoes: Patricia is a psychologist who has written books on marriage and relationships. However, ''her'' marriage is the biggest mess of them all, [[spoiler: [[FromBadToWorse and things only get worse by the end of the film]].]]
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Sheila does this throughout this film.
** This is the main cause for Sheila and Troy’s issues in their marriage. Sheila just decided to make Troy quit his job, sell his shop, and for them to move from Colorado with little money to spend, an infant son, and without a job for Troy to provide for the family without thinking about the possibility of unemployment putting a strain on their marriage. Even Troy lampshades that they should have waited a few years to move.
** Sheila insists on spending all of hers and Troy’s savings on the couples retreat presumably because she believed that it would help their marriage, but it just caused more strain because all Troy could think about was how much more broke they’d become.
** Sheila for the third time. She goes to her ex husband, Mike, of all people to help Troy get a job behind the latter’s back. While she meant well, she does this without thinking of the possibility of Troy finding out (which he later does, and Troy is ''pissed'' for a good reason).
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: [[spoiler: Poor Gavin dies from his injuries in a car crash towards the end of the film.]]
* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler:Mike forgives Troy for attacking him during the climax of the film.]]
* FacePalm: Troy does the sad variant of this after his argument with Sheila.
* FanDisservice: Invoked: Angela playing in the ocean in a gorgeous bikini would be absolutely alluring...had she not been [[spoiler: covered by the ashes of a woman (as the elderly couple was sending them out into the sea, but the wind caused them to land on her instead).]]
* GetOut: After destroying half of her house, she yells at Gavin to get out of the house.
* HappyEndingOverride:
** Although Troy & Sheila end up being HappilyMarried, they are shown to [[spoiler: be arguing & having problems in the sequel. It goes to show that just because you found your soulmate after dealing with a bad marriage in the past, it doesn't guarantee that your relationship will be free of issues]].
** Also, the recession lead to both Troy being unable to find work in law enforcement after moving from Colorado to Atlanta (in spite of his credentials) and for Angela's own beauty shop to take a hit resulting in her losing business and Marcus (now a sports newscaster) ending up the breadwinner.
* HappilyMarried: Once again, deconstructed. [[spoiler:Patricia and Gavin end up having the worst marriage out of the four couples.]]
* HappyMarriageCharade: [[spoiler:How Patricia carries on with her marriage to Gavin. It eventually ends badly for both of them.]]
* HereWeGoAgain: When Angela finds out that Marcus has another cell phone, she goes right back to getting upset with him after apologizing for her actions.
* HypocriticalHumor: When Angela is told by Patricia that the former just wants to be in control of her marriage:
-->'''Angela:''' Pat, I am not trying to control this man. I don't wanna control him, I just want him to do what I say.
-->'''Patricia:''' You see? There it is, right there!
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Sheila told the group that she and Troy spent their last amount of money to go to the Bahamas, not knowing that Troy didn't want her to do that.
* JerkassBall: Despite being a NiceGuy, Troy holds it a few times in this film.
* JerkassHasAPoint:
** Patricia may be an InsufferableGenius, but she was right about how Sheila should start seeing things from Troy's point of view. She's also right about how controlling Angela can be.
** When Troy apologizes to Mike for attacking him, Mike points out that Sheila would never be the type of person to cheat on her spouse (Mike is right).
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Mike turns into this after being a {{jerkass}} in the first movie. He’s not much of a jerk to Sheila as he used to be, and he even helps Troy get a job despite Troy’s disdain for him.
* JumpScare: Two of them. First, when Patricia sneaks behind Marcus & Terry and says “is this a game you wanna play with me?” and lastly, [[spoiler: Gavin’s car wreck that claims his life]].
* KarmaHoudini: Depending on how you feel about the ending, [[spoiler: Patricia]] may serve as this. Not only does [[spoiler: she have to live with both the guilt of being responsible for both her son and Gavin's deaths and apparently ends up with a [[MaybeEverAfter new man,]] it's implied that she's learned little from the whole experience, gets to ''keep'' the money she fought tooth-and-nail for throughout the film and since the divorce was never finalized, she's likely to still qualify for his life insurance.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Gavin ends up getting hit by a truck and dies.]]
* MenUseViolenceWomenUseCommunication: In the scene when Troy confronts Mike, Sheila is the one who wants to use communication while Troy jumps straight into violence.
* MistakenForCheating: Twice.
** Angela accuses Marcus of having someone in their bed on Tuesdays & Thursdays at noon. She was proven wrong when she finds out that other people were in their bed instead.
** Near the end of the film, Troy angrily confronts Mike and punches him because he thought that Sheila was cheating on him with her ex-husband Mike.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone:
** Troy has an implied facial reaction of this trope after he yells at Sheila during their argument.
** The old lady who told Angela about the noises in the bedroom gets in on this when she watches Angela confront Marcus on ''live tv.''
** Poor Patricia gets in on this [[spoiler:when she's in the hospital and she cries over the car accident involving Gavin that she indirectly causes]].
* NotWhatItLooksLike: Sheila has an implied one on her face when she is in Mike’s apartment & she opens the door to find her husband Troy.
* OhCrap: A few times in the movie:
** When Angela arrives at Marcus’ job and Marcus mutters “Angela.”
** When Sheila opens Mike’s apartment door and she sees Troy.
** When Patricia witnesses Gavin [[spoiler: getting hit by a truck.]]
* OutOfCharacterMoment: Even though it was due to his stressing, Troy has this when he yells at Sheila to give him some space. He is visibly remorseful, afterwards.
--> '''Sheila:''' I've never seen you like this!
* ProductPlacement: We clearly see a box of Cheerios and a package of Tyson's chicken in a scene with Terry and Dianne.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Troy gives Mike these TWICE.
** The first time, it was when Mike teased Troy for not naming his son "Mike Jr.:"
-->'''Troy:''' [[BrutalHonesty No, man. But you might have been able to do that had you taken care of your business the first time]].
** He gives another brilliant one after he teases him about his difficulty in finding work. This leaves him so rattled that he heads to bed for the night.
-->'''Troy:''' Let me tell you something, my man. I'm not the kind of cat that's gonna sit here and act like I like you, 'cause I don't. Matter of fact, I don't even like the fact that you're here. But since you are here, do yourself a favor: sit there, nurse your little fruit juice and leave me and mine the hell alone. Cool? All right, got that? Appreciate it.
* ShoutOut: The storyline of Sheila asking Mike to hook Troy up with a job is obviously a replica of the storyline in the movie ''Film/SoulFood'' when Bird goes behind Lem's back to help the latter get a job. Both men even react the same way to learning the truth.
* SupremeChef: It was stated in the film that Mike and Troy loved Sheila’s cooking.
* TemptingFate: Diane mentions that the couples retreat would be drama-free (and she will be happy that it’s without Mike). Cue the crowd hearing Angela and Marcus arguing seconds later. Also, Mike shows up to the couples retreat at the Bahamas.
* TitleDrop: Done by Angela early in the film, preceded by Marcus dropping the name of the first film.
* TookALevelInKindness: Surprisingly, Mike is considered OlderAndWiser in this film. He's still a jerk, but is able to reflect on the mistakes that he made with Shelia (even apologizing to her), helped Troy find a job, [[spoiler: forgave the latter for beating him up later in the film, and pushed for him and his friends to make up with their wives.]]
* WouldntHitAGirl: Implied. When Troy believed that Sheila was cheating on him, the former went after Mike and beat him up while verbally confronting Sheila.
