''Tremors 5: Bloodlines'' (2015) is the fifth movie in the ''Film/{{Tremors}}'' film series.

A stronger, faster, more evolved relative to the Graboids is discovered in South Africa, and recurring CrazySurvivalist Burt Gummer returns for yet more monster-slaying.
----
!!This film provides examples of:

* ActionGirl: Nandi, who's actually pretty decent with a bow and arrow and surprisingly good at fighting assblasters..
* AndStarring: Creator/MichaelGross got this credit.
* AndTheAdventureContinues: Burt and Travis agree to continue working together, with the latter mentioning a gremlin in Fresno.
* ArtisticLicenseGeography: Burt repeatedly states that Graboids are confined to the northern hemisphere. However, the third movie gave him a BatmanColdOpen scene in which he wiped out a shrieker herd in Argentina. If he'd said ''western'' hemisphere, it'd be accurate.
* ArtisticLicensePhysics: Lightning does not work that way, to say the least. Particularly glaring in what is otherwise a fairly well-grounded film.
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler: Van Wyk, who betrays Burt shortly before becoming the audience's introduction to the unique abilities of African graboids.]]
%%* ATeamMontage: As per usual for the series, happens several times.
* BigBadWannabe: [[spoiler:Van Wyk, who lures Burt to Africa in the first place and tries to manipulate Burt and company into getting getting him a Graboid or Assblaster. However, ultimately, he's in ''way'' over his head and the monsters munch him down long before the climax.]]
%%* BigDamnHeroes: Happens several times throughout the movie.
* BookEnds: The prologue is an intro to one of Burt's survivalist videos. The end credits feature a similar segment but with Travis joining in.
* BrickJoke: At the end of the prologue, Burt notices he's standing right next to a rattlesnake about to attack and stomps on it. When we see him next, he's cooking it for a meal.
* ChekhovsGun: Oh, so many.
** [[spoiler: Travis' motorcycle riding at the beginning returns for the finale.]]
** [[spoiler: Electrocuting worms out of the ground.]]
** [[spoiler: African thunderstorms that you can set your watch by.]]
** Early on, Burt referring to a Florida trip in the '70s, and Travis suggesting he had "some fun" with someone down there. [[spoiler:It was a one-night stand that led to Travis.]]
* ClosedCircle: Notably ''not'' present after its inclusion in the earlier films.
* ContinuityNod: Several.
** In the opener, Burt mentions having fought Graboids, Shriekers, and Ass Blasters in Nevada (the first and third movies) and Mexico (the second movie). The sequence even has a brief visual nod to when little Mindy's pogo stick attracted a Graboid in the original film.
** Burt records a video will where he bequeaths his latest firearms acquisition to his ex-wife, Heather, who left him between the first and second movies.
** Like Val in the first film, Travis is first seen from behind, taking a leak off a rock ridge.
** Burt recalls how he was swallowed whole by a Graboid in the third movie and survived.
** The paleontologists talk about getting on the cover of ''National Geographic'', which Earl aspired to in the first film.
** When Burt tells Travis to step on it, Travis' response of "consider it stepped on" references one of Val's lines from the original.
** After the African graboids turn out to be have a lot of abilities the American ones don't, a fed-up Burt rages he's always the last one to get critical, need-to-know information - which, of course, harkens back to his famous complaint in the second film.
* CrazyPrepared: Burt tries, but he's blocked from bringing much of his arsenal into South Africa. And, as per tradition, the ever-changing graboid lifecycle mean that a lot of his strategies go out the window almost immediately.
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:The attack helicopter pilot Burt calls in.]]
* DisposablePilot: [[spoiler:Subverted. He's actually one of the only characters to survive being swallowed by a Graboid in the entire series.]]
* EvilPoacher: [[spoiler:Erick Van Wyk poses as a representative of South Africa's Widllife Ministry to get Burt to capture an Assblaster for him.]] He and his associates are actually poachers who want to sell the creatures for a profit.
* FanDisservice: The film teases a sexy shower scene by showing actor Emmanuel Castis's attractive nude silhouette but those hoping to see more of him or his equally attractive female co-star are left disappointed as the scene ends with a bloody attack.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Travis calling [[spoiler: Burt "Pops".]] At first it seems like just he's being cocky, [[spoiler:but they're actually father and son.]]
* FullMoonSilhouette: An Assblaster flies in front of the moon when Burt is tracking it with his rifle scope.
* GilliganCut: After Burt tells [[spoiler:Erick Van Wyk]] "Shoot Me, Kill Me, But You Won't Cage Me", we immediately cut to Burt in the cage.
* HeroWorshipper: Travis presents himself as Burt's #1 fan, but despite Burt's doubts, he is quite competent and effective. [[spoiler:Turns out Travis is Burt's son, but the admiration is genuine]].
* HomageShot: There's a homage to the Velociraptor kitchen scene from the first ''Film/JurassicPark'' when an Assblaster breaks into the kitchen of the main compound in pursuit of its prey. Most noticeably, there's an almost identical shot centered on the Assblaster's foot claw tapping on the floor and when it moves in front of the glass portion of the door.
* IUhYouToo: At the end of the movie, Burt and Travis are about to part ways, but the former asks him to stay because of his promise to help his brand.
* JustDesserts: The villain is eaten alive by an African graboid after he tried to capture one to sell it on the black market.
* LightningBruiser: The African Graboids and Ass-Blasters are bigger, tougher, and faster than the American variety.
* LikeFatherUnlikeSon: [[spoiler:Burt can't believe someone like Travis could be his son]].
* LukeYouAreMyFather: [[spoiler:Travis reveals that he is the lovechild of Burt and a girl he hooked up with at a concert years ago. Which is why he calls Burt "Pops" throughout the movie]].
* MacheteMayhem: Machetes are a prominent weapon throughout the film.
* MacrossMissileMassacre: [[spoiler:How Burt and Travis deal with the Graboid's nest: by emptying the attack helicopter's entire payload into it at once.]]
* MamaBear:
** The Graboid Queen.
** Nandi in regards to her daughter Amahle.
* MonsterIsAMommy: The Ass-Blasters and Graboids are defending their nest of eggs, justifiably attacking the humans because they deem them a threat.
* MrExposition: Since it had been so long since anything ''Tremors'' was made, the prologue is Burt explaining to the audience about Graboids, their life cycle, and his experiences with them. The movie justifies it by framing it as part of one of his survivalist videos.
* MythologyGag:
** Burt has an idea of using a stampede to hide from the Graboid. References the conversations about stampedes, and defeat of the Graboid in the first film.
** Burt having had a fling with a hippie chick 40 years ago is a likely reference to a WhatCouldHaveBeen plotline for the TV series, in which Burt would've signed up for an online dating service and scheduled a blind date, only to find it's Perfection's resident ex-hippie Nancy.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: The helicopter pilot is eaten by a Graboid, [[spoiler: but a few minutes later he wanders back covered in slime, saying it coughed him up after he "tickled its insides"]].
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: The Ass-Blasters are normally nocturnal, but eventually start attacking the characters during the day. This is later found to be because [[spoiler: Amahle has their last egg.]]
* OppositesAttract: [[spoiler:Burt and Travis' mother. Burt's a paranoid, gun loving survivalist while his mother was a hippy. Travis even references this trope.]]
* SequelGoesForeign: This is the second movie to take place outside the United States, being set in a South African wildlife preserve that is attacked by a Graboid subspecies.
* ShoutOut:
** The aforementioned kitchen scene homaging ''Film/JurassicPark'' and Travis calling one of the graboids an [[Film/{{Aliens}} Ugly Bitch]].
** [[Film/{{Diehard}} "Come to Africa, we'll have some laughs, see some game."]]
* ShowWithinAShow: Burt's survivalist video series.
* SoLastSeason: To a lesser degree than the previous films. No wholly new lifecycle stages show up, however there are a lot of key differences between North American graboids and African graboids that make the new monsters far more dangerous. For reference: [[spoiler: African assblasters are strong enough to lift humans into the air, and can use their heat-detection even through barriers, unlike their North American counterparts. Also, African graboids can detach their tentacle tongues and send them to seek prey on higher ground, and can leap straight out of the ground and several feet into the air. They also lost the shrieker stage, which was less efficient than either of the other two.]] Burt was ''also'' dealing with having the proper weapons he intended to bring with to deal with all three stages confiscated by customs, further downplaying this trope as Burt simply doesn't have access to the proper gear rather than it being ineffective.
* TheSymbiote: The [[NestedMouths prehensile tongues]] inside the Graboids' mouth are, at least for the African subspecies, indicated to actually be seperate organisms that live in symbiosis with the {{Sand Worm}}s when one of them jumps out of his big brother's mouth and continues pursuing the heroes like some sort of killer land-eel.
* TastesLikeChicken: Referenced when Burt cooks a rattlesnake. Apparently, field-smoked snake ''smells'' like chicken too.
* TemptingFate:
** A secondary character shouts "You can't kill me! I'm African!" seconds before an Assblaster crashes on top of him.
** "I wish this moment would last for the rest of my life," says a researcher at a dig site. [[spoiler:The graboids make that happen for her.]]
* TitleDrop:
** Travis blurts out "Bloodlines" when [[spoiler:he reveals himself to be Burt Gummer's son.]]
** It's said a second time when they realize the Ass-Blasters and Graboids are attacking them because [[spoiler: they have their last egg]].
* VaginaDentata: Look at the mouths of the new Graboid tongues and Ass-Blasters.
* WhamLine: "[[spoiler:I call her 'Mom' most of the time]]."
* YouJustHadToSayIt: When Burt is locked up in a cage and left for dead in the bush, he actually chides ''himself'' for asking if it's over yet and a hungry friend appears.
-->'''Burt:''' Oh, no, no, no! Cue the freaking lion!
