''The Bravery of Dora'' is a 1912 short Western film.

The vivacious title character lives on a homestead with her elderly father. One day, they rescue a "halfbreed" named Juan, who falls in love with Dora. Meanwhile, some U.S. soldiers are being pursued by Mexican soldiers, presumably part of a border incident related to the then-ongoing [[UsefulNotes/TheMexicanRevolution Mexican Revolution]]. The U.S. soldiers take refuge at the homestead, and a shoot-out with the Mexicans ensues. However, the Mexicans prevail and capture the homestead. Juan is sentenced to die for treason, but the resourceful Dora has a plan to rescue him.

The movie's last scene is lost, resulting in it ending abruptly just when the U.S. army has shown up to save the day.

!!Tropes:

* ActionGirl: Dora participates in the shoot-out with the Mexicans and later takes the initiative in saving Juan.
* BindleStick: Juan is carrying one when he's found by Dora and her father.
* TheCavalry: After Dora helps him escape, Juan finds an American patrol. He then leads them as they charge over to the homestead to rescue Dora and her father. In the surviving copy, we see them reach the homestead, but we don't actually see them fight the Mexicans because that's the scene that's missing.
* DistressedDude: After being sentenced to die, Juan is locked in a room, but Dora comes to his rescue.
* TheDulcineaEffect: Juan at first refuses to fight against his own people. Then Dora is non-fatally shot, and he promptly takes up a gun.
* IWillPunishYourFriendForYourFailure: After the Mexican commander finds out that Dora freed Juan, he decides to punish her by having her father executed instead.
%%* TwilightOfTheOldWest: And made when that era was still current!
