''Never Hike In The Snow'' is a {{Prequel}} to the smash-hit ''Franchise/FridayThe13th'' FanFilm ''Film/NeverHikeAlone'' by Womp Stomp Films.

The story starts with young hiker Mark Hill going missing, and shows the reactions of Sheriff Rick Cologne, Tommy Jarvis, Mark's mother Diana, and regular deputy Allen Mabry and their attempts to deal with the problem.

!!This FanFilm contains examples of:
* ActionizedSequel: Downplayed. Jason makes his first appearance and kill within the first five minutes, but the bulk of the film is a quiet, character-driven suspense-drama. While the film ''technically'' has the exact same body count as ''Never Hike Alone'' (two), the kills here have more lead-up, are shown onscreen, and contain copious gore effects.
* AgeLift: [[spoiler: Jason's hallucination of Pamela is noticeably younger than Betsy Palmer. Likely supposed to be what Pamela looked like when Jason was still a young boy]]
* AnnoyingArrows: Averted. Jason puts one through Mark's leg to cripple him before killing him.
* AttackTheMouth: Jason kills [[spoiler: Mark Hill]] this way, splitting his mouth a great deal wider with an ax.
* BookEnds: The film opens and closes with Jason killing someone.
* TheCameo:
** Mark Hill has one of Kyle [=McLeod=]'s hiking videos open on his computer.
** Adam Marcus (director of ''Film/JasonGoesToHellTheFinalFriday''), Cindy Kaina (''Film/FridayThe13thPartVIJasonLives''), and Ron Sloan (''Film/FridayThe13thPartVANewBeginning'') provide news anchor coverage in "The Ghost Cut" version of the film.
** In the "Ghost Cut" version Tracie Savage, Debbie from ''Film/FridayThe13thPartIII'', appears as herself playing a news reporter. A ShoutOut to her RealLife job after she retired from acting.
* CallBack: A few to the classic films.
** Deputy Rick Cologne, from Film/FridayThe13thPartVIJasonLives has become the local sheriff. He's even played by Vincent Guastaferro, and threatens Tommy with his old "Ya-Bang" CatchPhrase at one point.
** When Deputy Alan Mabry searches the ruins of Camp Crystal Lake, he finds a number of abandoned hockey masks. One has the distinctive blue chevrons worn by Roy Burns in Film/FridayThe13thPartVANewBeginning.
* DarknessEqualsDeath: [[spoiler:Allen gets the drop on Jason in his shrine to his mother. The candles go out, and Jason vanishes before Allen can get his flashlight back on. Allen dies not long after.]]
* DramaticUnmask: Much differently than the usual ''Friday the 13th'' film. [[spoiler:Jason is not unmasked through combat or mishap, but in a dream or hallucination by his mother, which also reverts him to child Jason.]]
* DownerEnding: Mark is dead and his mother is left to grieve her son. [[spoiler: and Jason kills the only other cop who actually discovers him meaning he's free to continue to kill under the cover of anonymity]].
* FacialHorror: Two major counts:
** [[spoiler:Jason kills Mark by striking him in the mouth with an axe. Mark takes ''over a minute'' to fully die from this.]]
** [[spoiler:Jason kills Deputy Allen by shoving his own shotgun under his chin and pulling the trigger. Allen's face ceases to exist.]]
* HopeSpot: Mark sees his car just a short walk away after Jason has put an arrow through his leg. Jason disappears, and Mark tries to rise to his feet... [[spoiler: only for Jason to walk out from behind a nearby tree and deal the killing blow.]]
* LegendFadesToMyth: Deputy Mabry doesn't seem to know anything about Jason, or his murderous rampages. Mark doesn't even recognize what Crystal Lake really was, even while photographing it.
* MythologyGag: [[spoiler: The scream-like musical sting heard as Jason attacks Mabry sounds similar to the digitized (and notoriously realistic for the time) scream from the ''Friday the 13th'' game on Commodore 64.]]
* OffscreenTeleportation: Ghost Jason's TP again has no cooldown. Notably, he uses it [[spoiler:when he's only technically offscreen because a room was suddenly bathed in absolute darkness.]]
* PoliceAreUseless: Sheriff Cologne knows Jason's back, but won't (or more likely, ''can't'') really do anything about it. His deputy makes an honest stab at it, but he doesn't know enough about Jason to actually help, [[spoiler: and he's murdered when he goes to investigate.]]
* SnowMeansDeath: It ''is'' called ''Never Hike In The Snow''. It's wintertime, so Camp Crystal Lake is covered in snow and ice. Few who venture inside come back out.
* TheStraightAndArrowPath: Jason uses a bow and arrow at the start of the film. Because he's Jason, to devastating effect.
