Fourth film in the ''Franchise/{{Hellraiser}}'' franchise, the last one released theatrically, and final one to have any involvement from creator Creator/CliveBarker until [[Film/Hellraiser2022 the 2022 reboot.]]

It's the year 2127, and on the mysterious space station Minos, a man named Paul Merchant (Bruce Ramsay) has a robot fiddling with a very familiar-looking box. As the robot solves the cursed puzzle (and subsequently gets blown to smithereens), a group of guards storm into Merchant's station, placing him under arrest.

In captivity, Paul proceeds to detail the history his family has with the Lament Configuration and the Cenobites, as well as the plans he has for them aboard the space station.

To say that this film suffered from ExecutiveMeddling would be an understatement. Several characters and plot points were left on the cutting room floor, and the movie was shoved into theaters. Barker cut ties with the film franchise until the aforementioned reboot, which came out a full 26 years later.

!!''Hellraiser: Bloodline'' contains examples of:

* AndIntroducing: Bloodline features the first acting credit for ''Series/ParksAndRecreation'' and ''Series/PartyDown'' star Creator/AdamScott.
* BaitTheDog: Pinhead appears to be petting a little white dove in one scene. He promptly feeds it to his hellhound the Chatterbeast.
* BastardUnderstudy: Jacques and his mentor the Duc de l'Isle are satanists who dabble in the dark arts by summoning demons. They summon one in the form of a Demon Princess, but Jacques quickly murders the Duc to be with her.
* BlasphemousBoast: Courtesy of Pinhead:
-->'''John''': For God's sake!\
'''Pinhead''': Do I look like someone who cares what God thinks?
* TheCoup: It's implied that this or a kind of purist revolution happened sometime in Hell itself, turning Hell from its "traditional" form (represented by Angelique) into what the Cenobites represent.
* CreepyTwins: Pinhead fuses a pair twins together to create a Cenobite.
* DemonicPossession: The Duc de l'Isle and his apprentice Jacques kill a woman to use as a host for Angelique. They don't even need the whole body. Angelique is literally wearing the girl's skin, as is common in the franchise. She uses it for several centuries.
* DemonLordsAndArchdevils: Angelique holds the title of Princess of Hell. Pinhead still seems to outrank her.
* DemotedToDragon: After Angelique summons Pinhead to help her with John Merchant they stand on roughly equal ground. When Merchant tricks them, Pinhead drags her back to Hell for her failure and makes her a part of his retinue of servant Cenobites.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: It may have taken several centuries but [[spoiler:Paul finally does Pinhead in]].
* DontSplitUsUp: The cenobite which turned out to be supernaturally conjoined identical twins; how much of it was their choice is arguable.
* DreamWeaver: Angelique visits John Merchant's dreams as a mysterious dame to tempt him, going so far as to [[EroticDream make out with him]] at one point.
* EroticDream: John Merchant has sex with the villainess Angelique in his dreams, which she deliberately sends John in an attempt to seduce him.
* EvilIsNotAToy: The Duc de l'Isle and Jacques summon a demon princess to suit their whims. She ends up killing both of them, the Duc by seducing Jacques to betray him and disposing of Jacques when he decides to stand in her way centuries later.
* EvilerThanThou: Pinhead berates Angelique for trying to win John Merchant over through seduction. He thinks it takes too long and wouldn't be as much fun as torturing John and his loved ones until they give in.
* EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench: Angelique originally had a french accent. It was cut.
* FanDisservice: Valentina Vargas is a very attractive woman, but while she initially plays the fanservice aspects straight when Angelique looks like a regular human, she later gets transformed into a cenobite by Pinhead, looking like a leather-clad corpse with visible cleavage and a scalped head.
* FateWorseThanDeath: Pinhead decides to give John Merchant's son such a fate by planning to torture the child for a thousand-odd years, during which the boy "will wish he had died instead".
* ForegoneConclusion: Paul is still fighting with the Cenobites in the far future, so it's obvious his predecessors are going to perish at their hands.
* {{Hellhound}}: Chatter Beast, though background material indicates it WasOnceAMan, as with all the other Cenobites.
* HellOnEarth: Pinhead wants to open the portal to the Cenobite dimension so his armies can invade the Earth and slowly torture humanity to death.
* IAmTheNoun:
--> '''Pinhead:''' What you think of as pain is a shadow. Pain has a face. Allow me to show it to you. Gentlemen, I... Am... Pain.
* IdenticalGrandson: Bruce Ramsey portrays three members of the Merchant family across 400 years (Phillip L'Merchant in 18th century France, John Merchant in 20th century New York, and Paul Merchant in 22nd century space).
* InsignificantLittleBluePlanet: Discussed when Pinhead says that the insignificant creatures that walk the Earth only look to the light and are oblivious to the untold darkness beyond. He's delighted to see it reduced to a world of suffering and death when he takes over.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:This movie features the canonical death of Pinhead.]]
** [[spoiler: Retconned by WordOfGod -- that now happens in ''Literature/TheScarletGospels''.]]
* LightEmUp: [[spoiler: [[ArtifactOfHope The Elysium Configuration]], the entire space station and its satellites, focuses the light of the sun into an intricate pattern that consumes even Pinhead]]!
* MadeOfIron: Pinhead shrugs off laser blasts.
* MagicVersusScience: [[spoiler: The space station is really a gigantic array of solar mirrors designed to obliterate Pinhead with light. It is also the ultimate form of the Lament Configuration. It is revealed that to close the gateway so that it can never again be opened requires power that could also open the gateway so that it can never again be closed.]]
* MirrorMonster: Angelique kills one of the future soldiers by appearing in a mirror in her human form as a woman pleading for help before dragging him in and decapitating him.
* MonsterClown: Angelique was supposed to be served by a troupe of these. They were another victim of the intense executive interference.
* OffWithHisHead:
** [[spoiler:Pinhead murders John Merchant by impaling him through the neck with a hook, which then folds out into two blades which decapitate John.]]
** [[spoiler:A future soldier is decapitated with mirror magic.]]
* OhCrap:
** Paul's robot has just enough time to get this across before he goes boom.
** Pinhead himself, when Paul [[spoiler:activates the Elysium Configuration.]]
* OneBookAuthor: The only directorial film credit for Kevin Yagher, who primarily works in special effects.
* OriginStory: Of the Lament Configuration.
* PossessingADeadBody: Two Cenobite cultists in eighteenth century France kill a young prostitute so they can use her dead body as a host for a demon princess who then adopts the girl's name (Angelique). Note that most Cenobites don't actually require host bodies, but are rather [[DemonOfHumanOrigin humans whose souls were corrupted in Hell]].
* PreMortemOneLiner: "Play dead" (to Chatter Beast) and "Welcome to oblivion" (to Pinhead).
* PunctuatedForEmphasis: Two instances of this appear, both from Pinhead.
-->"Gentlemen; I... am... pain."
-->"I cannot die, I... am... forever."
* RecycledInSpace: ''Hellraiser'' [-IN VICTORIAN FRANCE!-] and later [-IN SPACE!-]
* SameLanguageDub: Angelique's voice is dubbed in by someone else.
* ShoutOut:
** The female space marine is named [[Series/RedDwarf Rimmer]].
** The [[MonsterClown clown demons]] that were cut from the final film were meant as one to French horror director Jean Rollin, who often used similar harlequin-type characters in a baroque settings.
* StoppedNumberingSequels: Officially, but some posters (like the one above) and DVD releases (''[[Letters2Numbers Hellr4iser: Bloodline]]'') keep the numbering.
* TooDumbToLive: Given he helped summon her in the first place and knew the rules, Jacques really shouldn't have fallen for Angelique's blatantly transparent ploy to void their contract. As it stands, he walks right into a leading question designed to make him admit that he's going against's Hell's intent, thereby freeing her from servitude and leading to his death.
* TwistEnding: The space station is [[spoiler: the perfected "[[ArtifactOfHope anti-Lament Configuration]]" that previous Merchants couldn't get quite right.]]
* TheVamp: Angelique is a demon currently occupying the body of an attractive woman and seduces her victims only to kill or torture them to death later on.
* WorthyOpponent: At the end, Pinhead notes he relished his centuries-long fight with the Merchant family and wished it could continue.
* WouldHurtAChild: Pinhead decides to torture John Merchant's son to compel him to undo his designs that could destroy the Cenobites.
