3	''American Me'' is a 1992 biographical crime film. It is directed by Creator/EdwardJamesOlmos and based on the real life Mexican-American gangster Montoya Santana and the foundation of the Mexican Mafia crime syndicate. Olmos played the lead role.

5	In RealLife, several people who worked on the film as cast or crew (including two ex-mafia who worked as advisors) were subsequently murdered by the Mexican mafia for their involvement in the movie, as the mafia found certain scenes in the film to be insulting and false, and Olmos himself (who claimed- perhaps falsely- that he had permission from the mobsters to make the film) had to pay extortion money for many years to avoid being killed himself.
