In other words, if you weren't satisfied with how she went out in ''The Last Guardian'', then here's another chance at getting a more satisfying final battle with her. The author has a good attention to detail when it comes to the lore (including the Artemis Files short stories) and he introduces a lot of original canon complacent elements that fits well with pre-established lore. A very high quality story that earns its place as a potential book 9 to the series. The author would later go on to publish his own original novels, so you know you are getting into some quality work.

Also, the characterization of Artemis was spot-on - he is clearly capable of feelings, but they are shown by ''using'' his dangerous and cruel nature, not by eliminating them.
173	** Fourthed. Artemis is as smart as he is in the books, but the Avengers aren't dumbed down just to make him look smarter in comparison. Everyone's characterisation was fantastic and it had the added advantage of an interesting plot that almost seemed like it might be one of Colfer's own writing.
