''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5852043/1/Murderess# Murderess]]'' by Amata le Fay (Warnings: contains spoilers for the culprit's identity in [[Literature/AndThenThereWereNone And Then There Were None]]; even the synopsis is a spoiler)
* Recommended by JP
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Synopsis'': An alternate solution for whom the killer might have been and how they did it.
* ''Comments'': There is not much I can say without having to overuse spoiler markings, but I can say it is a well-done, though very dark [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation interpretation]] of the character in question, [[spoiler: exploring their already-established insanity in canon and expanding on it and what it might have led to]], leading to one possible solution.

* Recommended by bregalad
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Synopsis'': What if Poirot and friends were on facebook?
* ''Comments'': A funny, crack-ish fic about the daily life of the characters, complete with emoticons.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11292256/5/The-London-Syndicate The London Syndicate]]'' by [[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/6752671/en-verite en verite]]
* Recommended by: Zelda12343
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Synopsis'': Taken directly from the summary: A series of related stories concerning Hercule Poirot's dealings, directly or indirectly, with the dangerous crime organization known simply as the London Syndicate. No criminals have been so purposeful, or so cunning, in their attempts to take down their chief obstacle.
* ''Comments'': I can't say enough good about this fic. It reads very much like Agatha Christie's own writing, with engaging mysteries and interesting side characters. The canon characters are handled expertly as well; the only difference from canon is that slightly more focus is put on the friendship between Poirot and Hastings, [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments not that anyone's complaining]]. Definitely check it out!

* Recommended by: Adept
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Synopsis'': Hercule Poirot meets the famed mystery novelist, Ariadne Olivers, for the first time, and is challenged to solve the "unbeatable crime" of gossip and plagiarism.
* ''Comments'': The fic is written by the same author as ''The London Syndicate'' listed above, and is equally worth reading.

''[[http://archiveofourown.org/works/5418539 The Broken Hearts Case]]'' by [[http://archiveofourown.org/users/smilebackwards/pseuds/smilebackwards smilebackwards]]
* Recommended by Adept
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Synopsis'': Very distressing things happen in villages sometimes and Market Holbrooke is no exception. Miss Marple is on the case.
* ''Comments'': An excellently written murder case, and much in tune to the Miss Marple stories we know and love. Miss Marple handles her role as the PhoneInDetective beautifully, and author made a very good use of Mrs. Bantry.

''[[http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/24/coffeeand.html Coffee and Cognac]]'' by Gwenhwyvar (Warnings: Slash, though nothing sexually explicit)
* Recommended by JP
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Pairings:'' Poirot/Hastings
* ''Synopsis'': Upon reuniting with Poirot, Hastings reflects on his [[HoYay "admiration"]] for him, not realizing that these feelings may in fact go deeper.
* ''Comments'': Wonderfully done, and could almost be an actual short story by Agatha Christie herself (had it not been for the time period the Poirot novels were written in, of course). The writing style very nearly matches Agatha Christie's, though its style would more closely match the TV series. While Poirot and Hastings' explored relationship does not go further than gentle gestures (again, because of the time period the stories take place in, fitting in rather--quite saddingly--well), the ending is still [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments quite touching and sweet.]]

''[[http://archiveofourown.org/works/127921/chapters/181283 Mrs Stanwood's Birthday Party]]'' by [[http://archiveofourown.org/users/Rebecca/pseuds/Rebecca Rebecca]]
* Recommended by bregalad
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Pairings:'' Poirot/Hastings
* ''Warnings:'' minor OC death, and, well, slash (although nothing explicit)
* ''Synopsis:'' Poirot and Hastings get invited to the birthday party of an old friend, the lovely and eccentric Mrs Stanwood. Of course, it doesn't take long until a corpse shows up. Meanwhile, Hastings has to come to terms with his emotions regarding Poirot. The story works without knowing canon.
* ''Comments:'' This fic is an elegant mixture of murder mystery and romance, with a clever plot that would make Agatha Christie proud. Hastings' voice is spot on, Poirot is enchanting and charismatic, and it features a fantastic cast of original characters.

* Recommended by CoinCollector
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Pairings:'' Poirot/Hastings
* ''Warnings:'' Minor character death, slash (non-explicit)
* ''Synopsis:'' When a young Arthur Hastings visits an old school friend in Belgium in 1913, he expects nothing more than a pleasant holiday. The holiday turns into tragedy with the sudden death of his friend's father, Sir William Bentley, British Ambassador to Belgium.
* ''Comments:'' A casefic first and foremost, this is the author's take on the duo's first meeting before they reunite in ''The Mysterious Affair at Styles''. Poirot and Hastings are both spot on, and the author does a good job of gradually developing their dynamic from strangers to what they have in the novels.
