->''"A person can only stay so strong in the face of adversity, and there are a lot of days when it just becomes too much to handle. I don't want to do something else with my life, but I wish I didn't have to go at it alone. I wish that I knew someone else in the same boat as me, that I could meet another member of the phantasmagorical species known as the Quirkless."''

''The Superheroics of Haruhi Suzumiya'' is a FusionFic of ''Literature/HaruhiSuzumiya'' and ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' written by Creator/{{FoxOnPie}}, of ''Fanfic/NeitherABirdNorAPlaneItsDeku'' fame. In an AlternateUniverse, Izuku Midoriya has a fateful encounter when a girl named Haruhi Suzumiya is transferred to his 6th Grade class. As the girl openly reveals to everyone that she's Quirkless, and strikes up a conversation with him, the two end up becoming fast friends. After inadvertently causing everyone to mock Izuku for his dream of being a Hero despite being Quirkless, Haruhi apologizes and the two make a promise to one day become great heroes no matter what everyone says about it.

!'''The Superheroics of Haruhi Suzumiya''' provides examples of:

* AdaptationalBadass: Kyon's sister, who's now Izuku's sister, has a Quirk that gives her a specialized form of [[PlayingWithFire pyrokinesis]].
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: While Haruhi [[CloudCuckoolander retains most]] [[GenkiGirl of her canon personality traits]], she's a lot friendlier to Izuku than she was to Kyon in her canon series. Moreover, she has an early JerkassRealization when she realizes that her mocking of Izuku's dream of becoming a Hero was going too far.
* AdaptedOut: Kyon doesn't exist in this universe, with Izuku (and apparently, Bakugou) taking his place in the SOS Brigade.
* AgeLift: [[spoiler:Yasumi Watahashi]] is an adult in her twenties or thirties here as opposed to a middle schooler like in the light novels. Of course, both versions are just [[spoiler:artificial creations of Haruhi, so it's really just that she ''looks'' like an adult instead of looking like a middle schooler]].
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents:
** Haruhi's parents openly say in front of Izuku how much she was crying when he collapsed during their first day of training. Moreover, her dad seems to like getting ''too'' loving with his wife even in public.
** Izuku's mom Inko gets a bit of this when she doesn't let Izuku explain that he's going to hang out with another friend who ''isn't'' Bakugou.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Izuku's little sister, who wakes him up before the alarm clock goes off, and later (along with Inko) doesn't let him explain that he's going to hang out with someone else than Bakugou. Later, she walks on him while he's taking a bath and he muses that she always does whatever she wants.
** When Nodoka shows up at the Suzumiya household, she takes to call her "Aunty" after she hears Haruhi doing so, and Izuku mentions she does that to anybody she hears called by a nickname. Nodoka gets so annoyed she's forced to use her Quirk to get her to be quiet.
** Even Haruhi, who otherwise ''adores'' her, doesn't get spared from being embarrassed by her in front of everyone when she notices the price tag attached to her swimsuit and shows it off for all to see.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion:
** Haruhi asks Izuku exactly ''how'' did he plan to become a Hero in the future.
** When Katsuki goes off at him for ''daring'' to perform well during their school's Sports Festival, insisting that he and Haruhi should 'know their place', Izuku asks him "Where do you get off saying that when you had to cheat to beat me?"
* {{Arrowgram}}: The Kagemusha throws a kunai with a note at a tree, barely missing Izuku's head.
* BadassNormal: Both Haruhi and Izuku want to become this. Haruhi also mentions ComicBook/IronMan and ComicBook/{{Batman}} as examples of popular fiction’s perception of this but points out that their supposed super-intelligence disqualifies them.
* BeachEpisode: Chapter 5 has the Midoriyas and Suzumiyas going to the beach together.
* BlackmailIsSuchAnUglyWord: Haruhi's father seems fond of groping his wife's bunny ears, which she doesn't appreciate very much. He likes to call it "caressing".
* BookEnds: The second chapter's opening and closing narration both include Izuku's musing of his wish to meet another Quirkless person who could relate to him, before and after his meeting with Haruhi.
* BigBrotherWorship: Izuku's little sister, ironically, has this for Bakugou.
* BrutalHonesty: Haruhi doesn't sugarcoat the facts that Izuku's chances of becoming a Hero without a Quirk are slim to none, and even agrees when he calls himself a nobody.
** PlayedForLaughs when Nodoka tells Haruhi that she doesn't like being called "Aunty" (since they're about the same age) and she should tell everyone they're cousins. Haruhi replies that "lying is wrong".
* ButtMonkey: As usual, Izuku is repeatedly on the receiving end of most of the story's slapstick, such as getting kicked by Haruhi when they were both trying to hit The Kagemusha.
* CantActPervertedTowardALoveInterest: Inverted with Sakuta, who seemingly can't ''stop'' acting perverted when it comes to his wife.
* CareerEndingInjury: Subverted. While working as a Pro Hero, Sakuta received an injury that left him scars on the chest, and although it wasn't life-threatening, he decided to retire after realizing how dangerous his line of work could be and to raise a family with his wife.
* CheerfulChild: Izuku's little sister.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Haruhi starts showing shades of this when Izuku compliments another girl's ponytail.
* CommonalityConnection: Izuku theorizes that Bakugou gets along with his sister because they have similar Quirks.
* CompositeCharacter: Izuku is mostly his canon self from ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'', but he's given some of Kyon's traits, such as his ponytail fetish, an occasional inner snark, and having a little sister.
* CovertPervert: Chapter two makes it clear that Izuku inherited Kyon's ponytail fetish. He's also not above glancing at older women wearing swimsuits.
* CurbStompBattle: The beach volleyball match ends with a 10-point difference. Justified as they were adults playing against children.
* CreateYourOwnHero: Granted, Bakugou isn't a villain per se, but in pushing the two Quirkless kids to become friends with each other, he gave Izuku the means to gain the skills and confidence to stand up to him.
* DecompositeCharacter: Izuku is the one taking Kyon's place plot-wise for the most part, although Kyon's aspect of being Haruhi's personal ButtMonkey is given to Bakugou instead.
* DistractedByTheSexy: While playing beach volleyball, Izuku misses a spike and falls on the sand due to glancing at the women's breasts.
* DramaticIrony: The story makes a big point about Haruhi being Quirkless, but anyone familiar with the source material knows that that's [[RealityWarper far from the truth]].
* EarlyBirdCameo:
** The SOS Brigade's movie shows Eri and Mirio.
** In Chapter 4, Izuku and Haruhi mention having visited Gunhead's martial arts studio, and also briefly met Itsuka Kendou at another place.
** Chapter 5 also has a brief appearance by [[spoiler:Kuyoh Suou]].
* EatingTheEyeCandy: Even though he hasn't hit puberty yet, Izuku can't help but glance at the swimsuit-clad Haruhi when they hit the beach.
* EccentricMentor: Haruhi and Izuku run into a female Pro Hero who calls herself ''The'' Kagemusha, who pretty much clicks all the boxes Haruhi is looking for in a martial arts teacher. Her real name is [[spoiler:Yasumi Watahashi.]]
* ElectrifiedBathtub: ''Barely'' averted when Izuku's sister tosses him the cellphone while he's taking a bath.
* EnergyAbsorption: Izuku's little sister can absorb the kinetic energy of anything that hits her.
* EntitledBastard: Despite constantly abusing and belittling Izuku, Katsuki still expects him to follow him to Aldera Middle School, and is ''shocked'' when he learns Izuku's planning to attend the same school as Haruhi instead.
* EveryScarHasAStory: Sakuta has one in the chest, and he eagerly tells the story about how he got it when Izuku and Inko show interest in it.
* {{Expy}}: Haruhi's parents are basically just [[Literature/RascalDoesNotDreamOfBunnyGirlSenpai Sakuta Azusagawa and Mai Sakurajima]]. Her aunts, Nodoka, Kaede and Tomoe are also based on their namesakes from the same series.
* FantasticArousal: Haruhi's mom implies her bunny ears are rather sensitive.
* FlashForward: The first chapter opens up with the movie made by the SOS Brigade, and they're already attending the U.A. The second one cuts back to Izuku and Haruhi's first meeting in sixth grade.
* FormerlyFat: Downplayed, but from Haruhi's account, it seems Inko is slimming down as she's starting to drop her eating habits a bit.
* HappilyMarried: Perverted antics aside, it seems Haruhi's parents are very much this. Her aunts Tomoe and Kaede as well, by the former's account.
* HeelRealization: Downplayed with Inko, as while she never did anything truly bad, Haruhi's unwavering support of Izuku makes her realize how wrong she was to not offer Izuku her support when he first learned he was Quirkless.
* HeroWorshipper: Haruhi's favorite hero is Mirko.
* HouseHusband: Haruhi's dad, Sakuta, is this, while his wife is an actress. He used to be a Pro Hero but after getting injured while on duty he decided to retire to dedicate full-time to his family.
* HypocriticalHumor: While at the beach, Nodoka tells Haruhi that her swimsuit is a bit too bold when she's wearing one that exposes about the same amount of skin. Izuku mentally [[LampshadeHanging lampshades it.]]
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Haruhi starts feeling this way after attending the baseball game with her parents. This plays out in her motivation to make the promise with Izuku to become Quirkless Heroes one day.
* InsistentTerminology: [[spoiler:Yasumi's]] Hero name is ''The'' Kagemusha. [[WesternAnimation/TheBoondocks It's like A Tribe Called Quest, you have to say the whole thing.]]
** According to Izuku, his little sister gets this whenever she hears anybody called by a nickname.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Bakugou is so self-absorbed that he berates Izuku for outperforming him, declaring "This was supposed to be ''my'' time, Deku! ''My'' time! You and Ribbons had no right to mess it up just because you were born with nothing!"
* JawDrop: There's a collective one in Chapter 2 from the entire class when Haruhi punches Bakugou.
-->"Midoriya didn't know what was louder, the sound of Bakugou's impact or the collective sound of everyone's jaws dropping."
* LittleBitBeastly: Haruhi's aunt Kaede has panda paws instead of normal hands.
* MadeOfIron: Izuku's little sister can take being hit with a baseball bat without suffering any harm.
* MegatonPunch: Despite being Quirkless, Haruhi gives one to Bakugou, with enough force to knock him against a bookshelf.
* MsFanservice:
** The character Mai plays on one of her shows walks around in a PlayboyBunny costume. Izuku initially thought it was a metaphor for the character's personal struggles, but Mai said that the director just wanted to put a girl in a bunny girl costume.
** The Kagemusha, as Izuku notices, checks all the boxes of having the body of a supermodel, plus wears {{Sarashi}} under an open jacket.
** Haruhi's aunts Kaede and Tomoe, even more so given they're wearing swimsuits at the beach.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Izuku has a brief moment of this in Chapter 5 after he punches Bakugou in the face for insulting Haruhi and letting him have it for all those years of being on the receiving end of his bullying. [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere He promptly chooses a "Tactical Retreat" as his course of action.]]
* NeverMyFault: While Bakugou acknowledges he cheated to win the relay run in the sports festival, he blames Izuku for "forcing him to break the rules".
* NoNameGiven: Izuku's sister isn't given a name, much like Kyon's.
* OCStandIn: Haruhi's parents, who were otherwise never seen in canon.
* PointOfDivergence:
** Izuku takes Kyon's place in the SOS Brigade, although the first chapter implies it's Bakugou who does the heavy lifting (at least for the movie they produced).
** Haruhi befriends Izuku before the fateful baseball game she attends with her family which gets her to realize how ordinary she actually is compared to everyone else.
** Instead of attending Aldera Junior High like in canon, Izuku chooses to go to the East Junior High with Haruhi.
* PlayboyBunny: Haruhi's mom, Mai, is introduced wearing the costume, though her ears are real.
* PlayingWithFire: Izuku's sister has a unique form of pyrokinesis that lets her [[EnergyAbsorption absorb the kinetic energy of anything that hits her]] and release it in a fiery explosion.
* PowerIncontinence: Izuku warns Haruhi that his little sister still doesn't have good control over her Quirk. This is proven true later when Haruhi hits her with a baseball bat and causes an explosion that destroys the kitchen table.
* RageBreakingPoint: Izuku was able to endure seven years of Bakugou's bullying, but after he starts insulting and demeaning Haruhi, he finally can't stand it and punches him in the face, letting out all those bottled feelings in a single go.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Bakugou, being the SoreLoser he is, starts ranting at Izuku and Haruhi, calling them a pair of Quirkless losers who have nothing. [[ShutUpHannibal Izuku responds by punching him in the face]] after hitting his RageBreakingPoint and telling him that if, things turned out this way for him, he's got nobody else to blame but himself, since he was the one to suggest that they should become friends in the first place.
* RetiredBadass: Sakuta Suzumiya was formerly known as the Youthful Hero: Buta Yarou before retiring to raise a family with his wife.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Izuku's and Haruhi's relationship in a nutshell. They're both striving to become BadassNormal Heroes, but Izuku is meek, reserved, and thoughtful while Haruhi is bullheaded, energetic, and outspoken.
* SickeninglySweethearts: Haruhi seems to hold this opinion about her parents and aunts, and about people falling in love in general.
* ShipperOnDeck: Nodoka comments that someone (Izuku) seems very glad to know that Haruhi likes boys as well as girls.
* ShoutOut:
** Haruhi's training plan is clearly taken from [[Webcomic/OnePunchMan Saitama]], and she even mentions she's skipping the worst stuff to avoid going bald at age 14.
** Haruhi mentions ComicBook/IronMan and ComicBook/{{Batman}} as examples of popular fiction’s perception of a BadassNormal.
** The maiden name of Haruhi's mother is Tadamichi, in reference to ''Fanfic/KyonBigDamnHero''.
*** In addition, chapter three had Izuku mention an Aunt Rika, he and Haruhi go to a town protected by a branch of the [[{{Yakuza}} Yamaguchi-gumi]], which was the group Tsuruya's family were affiliated with in that story, and the same symbol used for the Tsuruya family in that story-a crane fishing a dragon out from the heavens-is also used here.
** The way that the Quirk of Izuku's sister works is the same as the power of Charon from ''Manga/FireForce''.
** Haruhi mentions having done a ''Manga/YuGiOh'' nurse cosplay costume.
** In chapter four, Haruhi says that she wants her and Izuku to learn [[Manga/{{Kinnikuman}} ten million techniques, which prompts Izuku to ask if they're then supposed to go to Spain to find someone with a power level of ten million]].
** The Kagemusha introduces herself by saying "[[WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck I am the terror that flaps in the night!]]". She later mentions a knight named [[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBlazingBlade Sir Roland who wielded]] [[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBindingBlade a sword named Durandal.]]
*** In addition, the scene where she lays out her InsistentTerminology is just like the introduction to [[WesternAnimation/TheBoondocks A Pimp Named Slickback]].
* SoreLoser: Bakugou becomes really, ''really'' pissed when Izuku and Haruhi steal his thunder in the sports festival.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: When Izuku meets Haruhi's parents, he quickly takes notice of how much they look alike.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: Haruhi becomes very bent on denying it when her parents tell Izuku she was crying after he collapsed during their training.
* TakeThat: The third chapter gives one to the FandomSpecificPlot of making Izuku a GadgeteerGenius with Haruhi pointing out that trying to make the claim of being a Quirkless Hero when you're also a super-genius is hard to buy and outright lazy.
* TemptingFate: The narration at the start of the second (chronologically first) chapter has Izuku musing how unlikely he is to meet another Quirkless person in his whole life. Cue Haruhi being transferred to his class.
* TrainingFromHell: At least for Izuku, all the training he and Haruhi undergo leaves him exhausted afterwards, though he manages to get used to it and improve over time.
* {{Tsundere}}: Haruhi acts like this whenever her parents tease her about caring about Izuku more than she lets on. She also goes to great lengths to hide the fact she bought a new swimsuit just to impress Izuku when they go to the beach.
* UnSorcerer: Both Haruhi and Izuku are Quirkless.
* WhamLine: From chapter two:
-->'''Haruhi''': "Midoriya, I want total honesty from you. Before I came into your life, what, exactly, ''was'' your plan for becoming a Hero?"
* WouldHitAGirl: Bakugou doesn't hesitate to charge at Haruhi when she punches him in the face.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Even though Haruhi agrees when Izuku calls himself a nobody, she adds that, unlike other nobodies, at least he's ''trying'' to do something to change that, and that sets him apart from them.
