This story actually starts with its prequel, [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3673170/1/Darkwing_Duck_Returns Darkwing Duck Returns]] where after Darkwing disappears seven years before the beginning of the story, Gosalyn finds a new lead and decides to track down her father. [[spoiler: Long story short, she finds him in the Negaverse, she rescues him and they beat [[EvilTwin Negaduck]].]]

In the story proper, which can be found [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4250231/1/The_New_Adventures_of_Darkwing_Duck here]], Darkwing returns to crime-fighting, assisted by The Crimson Avenger, her sidekick Techno and assorted other new allies. But things have changed in seven years and not all of what they encounter is pleasant. [[OriginalCharacter New villains]] start showing up in St. Canard and our heroes have to adapt quickly to deal with them.

There is also a Christmas-based sidestory that takes place during the ''The New Adventures of Darkwing Duck'' entitled ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5608667/1/NADWD-Last-Minute-Crime-Fighting NADWD: Last Minute Crime Fighting]]''.

Scyphi originally dropped the series, posting a chapter [[WhatCouldHaveBeen outlining what his original plans for plots had been before he lost motivation]] but recently he was approached by fan Known Unknown about doing a fan sequel, [[AscendedFanboy to which Scyphi responded by partnering with Known Unknown to make an official sequel series, even writing an official lead-in chapter posted on his own account to direct readers to Known Unknown's.]] Said sequel begins [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12932172/1/ here]].

[[WMG:This fanfic contains examples of:]]

* AdaptiveAbility: The Teryx, as a reference to the Borg. Nanite, as well, has the ability to reproduce any weapon he incorporates.
* AlternateUniverse: In addition to the Negaverse, there are a number of different universe with different Darkwings. And [[ComicBook/DarkwingDuck this story came first]]
* AntiHero: Negawing! Gosalyn, who is on the side of right but is as sociopathic, conniving and violent as the rest of the people from her universe.
* BadassNormal: The series adds a whole slew of S.H.U.S.H. Agents to aid our heroes in the BadassNormal department.
* BerserkButton: Like always, harming Gosalyn for Drake.
** Calling Rowe "mate," though it's very minor.
** Chapter 69, "Death Of A Friend," involves doing this to the normally [[OnlySaneMan extremely even tempered]] Honker to the point where he totally snaps [[spoiler: and becomes terrifyingly violent.]] The result is quite tragic.
* BigBad: [[spoiler: Negaduck]], though it takes a while before he really makes his move.
* BigDamnKiss: [[spoiler: Honker and Gosalyn]] both before and after they go off to fight against Negaduck's master plan, though the second one plays it straightest.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: The Neutraverse appears this way to our heroes - because Neutraduck is void of good or evil, the result is someone totally apathetic to others and downright sociopathic. His morality is judged by how far from neutral a universe is, and how likely they are to interfere in other universes.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy / TykeBomb: Nega-Gosalyn by Negaduck, as her Negaverse version was originally even nicer than Darkwing's Gosalyn. Negaduck ends up doing this to her ''again'' [[spoiler: after her death.]]
** Also, this happened to Darkwing once by way of having his [[MirrorMoralityMachine trons reversed.]] The end result - a pure evil Darkwing - is... scary.
* CharacterCatchphrase: Rowe has "I ain't your mate," which usually happens after he calls someone [[HypocriticalHumor "mate."]]
* ChristmasEpisode: ''NADWD: Last Minute Crime Fighting''
* TheConfidant: Honker to Gosalyn, even before he becomes her sidekick and occasionally to his chagrin.
* CrapsackWorld: Several of the other universes - the Negaverse and ''especially'' the Negawing-verse in particular. The Warrior-verse is a dictatorial dystopia, but is implied to not extend past St. Canard (and is currently on the mend, as is the Negaverse).
* {{Crossover}}: Three with Ducktales, and later a fairly epic one with [[spoiler: WesternAnimation/TaleSpin]]
* DarkerAndEdgier: This series treats things the original series would shrug off a lot more seriously and dramatically (for example, AmusingInjuries are all but gone - which makes things like Negaduck's over-the-top violence and threats a lot less comical), and though it still has a humor in it it's greatly downplayed.
* DeadpanSnarker: Just like the show, nearly everyone is a snarker - though special mention goes to Gosalyn (and Honker, when he's talking to Gosalyn).
* DemotedToExtra: Of a sort - the members of the Fearsome Five are a lot less prominent in the series, being more or less henchmen to Negaduck's growing empire rather than a team of mostly equally prominent supervillains with a particularly BadBoss - they explicitly work ''for'' him, rather than with him. With the exception of the rare focus episodes that don't feature them doing Negaduck's bidding, most of them get much less prominence than they had in the show. Quackerjack barely features at all.
* {{Doorstopper}}: "The New Adventures of Darkwing Duck" is at 82 chapters and over a million words and is still not finished.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Thanks to TimeTravel, [[spoiler: Gigavolt]] appears being chased by Gosalyn's future self long before his actual origin episode in the series.
* EmbarrassingMiddleName: In order to explain why Launchpad always calls him "DW," Drake is given the embarassing middle name of "Wilberforth," which not even Gosalyn knew.
* FountainOfYouth: This is revealed to be a side-effect of the super-energy source from the FiveEpisodePilot of [[spoiler: Talespin.]] The downside is if used this way it becomes extremely addictive, and those separated from it undergo RapidAging [[NoImmortalInertia to the age they are supposed to be.]]
* FriendlyEnemy: Less emphasized, but it's there. Bushroot and Rowe get along very well with the heroes when given half a chance.
* FunPersonified: Frogduck, who was specifically designed to bring back a bit of the more fun, cartoony villainy from the show in the midst of the series' DarkerAndEdgier tone.
* GadgeteerGenius: Honker eventually grows into one of these.
* HalfArcSeason / RotatingArcs: The series initially runs like this - with a lot of mini-arcs rotating prominence via episodes, with a few oneshots thrown in, but it eventually coalesces into a single arc. [[spoiler: Now that that arc is over, the series could go anywhere.]]
* HappilyAdopted: A little boy named Charlie, by Darkwing's new love interest Christine.
* HappilyMarried: Morgana and Bob, [[spoiler: at least until Bob is killed.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: The Elements, though only after losing their memories. [[spoiler: Megavolt, Nega-Gosalyn (twice), and apparently the Dark Avenger.]]
* TheInfiltration: Darkwing and Honker go undercover into an organized gang in order to figure out their connection to Steelbeak. Though the plan works without a hitch, they unfortunately use their real names - which comes back to bite them when S.H.U.S.H. is unable to stop the gang from getting revenge.
* InTheNameOfTheMoon: "I am the terror..." naturally, but there's also Gosalyn's new intro as the Crimson Avenger - "I am the heir to the cape! I am _______. I am... the Crimson Avenger!"
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: The Elements end up losing their memories after their power runs dry. Also, Megavolt has been losing memories for years, though he ultimately accidentally fixes that.
* TheLancer: Gosalyn generally plays the role of Lancer to her father, while having Honker as ''her'' own Lancer.
* LegacyCharacter: [[spoiler: Dark Avenger is this for Darkwarrior.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:The Liquidator, of all people, suffers from this after pushing Negaduck too far]]. In addition, there's [[spoiler: Darkwarrior Duck, Bob (Morgana's husband), a bunch of named characters from alternate universes, Negarian, Negawing Duck and Nega-Gosalyn (though she got better)]]
* KnightTemplar: Darkwarrior Duck returns from an alternate universe, and it's eventually revealed that [[spoiler: his version of Gosalyn is following down his footsteps.]] Also, Neutraduck - who feels the war between the Posiverse and the Negaverse is a blight upon the Multiverse, and decides to destroy both.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: The Tron Splitter splits people into good and evil versions of themselves. [[spoiler: When Megavolt uses it on himself, it creates the even more dangerous Gigavolt.]]
* TheMasquerade: The Agency hides the existence of alien communications from the world.
* MassHypnosis: The end result of Negaduck's EvilPlan. [[spoiler: He pulls off part of it for months, and nearly takes over the whole world before being stopped.]]
* MentorOccupationalHazard: [[spoiler: Bantamock for Honker, Agent Lupus to Agent Mia.]]
* MirrorMoralityMachine: S.H.U.S.H. creates a devise similar to Megavolt's Tron Splitter (which can separate people into good and evil doubles), except it instead changes people from evil to good (or vice versa). It takes Darkwing himself getting adversely effected before they realize it's a bad idea.
* MythologyGag: Similar to Negaduck, Negawing Duck starts out as a [[MirrorMoralityMachine mirror morality'd Darkwing]] before being reimagined and reintroduced as a separate character from an AlternateUniverse
* TheNicknamer: The Author, who is very fond of using nicknames for various characters even in narration. "Liki" for Liquidator, for instance, is pretty much used exclusively after his first appearance, by both the prose and all the characters themselves.
* NoodleImplements: Drake mentions an assignment Gosalyn couldn't finish due to an experiment involving peanut butter, sealing wax, and Drake's VCR causing a mess.
* NonIndicativeName: The Fearsome Five rarely has a total of five members at any given point. Negaduck refuses to change the name because he really likes it, but it gets up to seven members [[spoiler: and currently only has three.]]
* NoImmortalInertia: Will happen to [[spoiler: Kit and Don Karnage if they are ever separated from the sub-electron amplifier, which they are at the end of their storyline.]] The effect doesn't start immediately, but rapidly becomes painful. Interestingly, it isn't stated to be fatal in and of itself, but the longer a person has stayed immortal with it the more traumatic (and the greater risk of death) the experience will be.
* NoOntologicalInertia: Wizards' spells dissipate when they die - this initially nearly makes thinks go horribly wrong when [[spoiler: Bob dies during spoiler: Negaduck's invasion]], but soon after is instrumental in stopped [[spoiler: Negaduck's invasion, when all of the people he's mind controlled are freed once his wizard ally is killed.]]
* ObliviouslyEvil: Frogduck, who thinks people will thank him for setting the city on fire - [[InsaneTrollLogic since that way the winter cold won't bother anyone.]]
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: Vice President Norrin, who alongside his Agency would like nothing more than to take control of S.H.U.S.H. and oust Darkwing. He can, however, at least be counted on to (begrudgingly) give help when it's sorely needed.
* OmnicidalManiac: Neutraduck. The Teryx.
* OmnicidalNeutral: Neutraduck again.
* OperationJealousy: Gosalyn's former friend Jax is fond of trying to cause these between Gosalyn and Honker.
* PuppeteerParasite: The alien cabbages return from the original series, and this time take over the Fearsome Five.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: [[spoiler: Kit Cloudkicker and Don Karnage]] appear, looking as though they were still young even though they are past eighty years old thanks to some AppliedPhlebotinum.
* TheReliableOne: Honker, to the point where situations where he's not constantly acting in everyone's best interest [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness are cause for alarm.]]
* ReluctantRuler: [[spoiler: [=NegaGosalyn=] after Negaduck's defeat in the most recently finished arc. She states several times that she doesn't want to take up her former guardian's position but it's the only way to stabilize the Negaverse.]]
* RevengeBeforeReason: [[spoiler: Dark Avenger]] is this personified. Also, there's Nanite - though his unreasonable schemes for vengeance end up accidentally giving him superpowers.
* RunningGag: Gosalyn constantly causing Charlie "Chuck," and ignoring him when he corrects her.
** Jax always getting punched in the face whenever she appears.
* ShipTease: There's some between enemies Rowe and Quiverwing and more traditional with Crimson Avenger/Gosalyn and Techno/Honker, Darkwing/Drake and Christine and Launchpad and SHUSH agent Mia.
* ShoutOut: Plenty of references to ''Series/StargateSG1'', including an {{Expy}} show that Gosalyn is a fan of.
* SpecialPersonNormalName: Bob the Wizard. DW is notably surprised.
* TimeTravel: Comes into play occasionally, though the future version of Gosalyn is rather talented at annoying her past version by avoiding straight-forward answers.
* VerbalTic: Rowe has a habit of ending his sentences with "-mate." Ironically, people doing the same thing to him is a BerserkButton of his.
