''Sonic World Adventure Rush'' is a fanfic project by [[http://www.fanfiction.net/u/147599/Chris_Gammon Chris Gammon]], who was one of the cabal of writers in ''FanFic/TheOtherworldAnthology''.

The story details Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog and his friends and enemies, on their greatest adventure. The project seeks to merge all of the previous depictions of the titular characters as portrayed throughout various media. But rather than be an AdaptationDistillation, it tries to serve more as a continuation while merging everything else into a PatchworkFic. It works in theory depending on how familiar you are with the other mediums in which he appeared.
----
!!Sonic World Adventure Rush contains examples of:
%%* AffablyEvil: Dr. Eggman qualifies as this in the story. While he has done bad things in the past, the enemies resurfacing now are far more evil than he is.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Chapter Sixteen paints Nack the Weasel, Bean the Dynamite, and Bark the Polar Bear as the mercenary counterpart to [[VideoGame/SonicHeroes Team Chaotix]].
* AIIsACrapshoot: The Brotherhood of Metallix, a group of robotic duplicates of Sonic and his friends who are tired of failure and figure the best way to defeat Sonic is not to destroy ''him'', but everything and everyone around him.
* AllThereInTheManual: The story is written in a manner that assumes those that read it are familiar with the mythos enough so as to avoid pages and pages of needless exposition. Of course, a trip to the Website/TVTropes page can glean enough research that newcomers to the story (or to the series as a whole) have the ability to catch up.
%%* AmbiguouslyGay: The author implies Mephiles is this, judging by his mannerisms and dialogue in [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006 Sonic the Hedgehog]]. It doesn't help that some variations of the Faust legend depict his namesake as a genderless lover to Satan. Not to mention all the AlternateCharacterInterpretation his namesake suffers on his own, which the author plays up with Mephiles, leaving it ambiguous as to exactly what he is.
* AscendedExtra: [[http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Nazo Nazo]] originally started out as a prototype screen shot for the then-upcoming anime ''Anime/SonicX''. His image was labeled as Nazo.jpg, "Nazo" being Japanese for "mystery". When ''Sonic X'' finally aired, no sign of this Nazo was seen. Some speculate it was [[VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles Hyper Sonic]], while other fan works have painted him as an [[OmnicidalManiac omnicidal]] villain.
** Entire levels and concepts scrapped from the games, as well as old Dreamcast VideoGame/SonicAdventure DLC, make appearances.
** The idea of an [[VideoGame/SonicAdventure Emerald Coast]] style resort in Green Hill Zone is derived from beta screen shots that depict Green Hill at night, a giant [[http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u142/Rexcom/Sonic%20Story%20Stuff/?action=view¤t=WelcometoNightHill.jpg Welcome sign]], and an area in the background that looks like [[http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u142/Rexcom/Sonic%20Story%20Stuff/?action=view¤t=GreenHillCity-1.gif white cliffs]], but assumed to be a resort complex.
** [[http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Ashura Ashura]], a well known palette glitch from [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2 Sonic 2]], makes an appearance as a mysterious advice giver.
** [[http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Honey_the_Cat Honey the Cat]], who was DummiedOut of Sonic the Fighters at the last minute (possibly because of her AffectionateParody standing of the real Honey from ''VideoGame/FightingVipers'', known as Candy in the US version), appears as a bar waitress who has an [[InterspeciesRomance attraction]] to Bean's personality.
* AscendedMeme:
** Though he's not covered in blood or speaking in demonic tongues, [[VideoGame/SonicR Tails Doll]] is hinted several times to be "different" from the other Brotherhood of Metallix members... in more ways than one.
** Sonic is seen enjoying some CaptainErsatz Pringles by the name of '[[YouTubePoop Pingas]]'.
%%* AuthorAppeal: Chris sure likes his references.
* BeachEpisode: Sonic and Tails' adventure begins with the duo vacationing on the beaches of [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog1 South Island]], and dressed accordingly. It also somewhat serves to show that they don't suffer from InvisibleAnatomy.
%%* CoolShades: Captain Westwood, a character from the [[ComicBook/SonicX Sonic X comic book]]. He never takes them off either.
%%* ContinuityNod: Since this story is supposed to be a continuation of everything that's happened prior no matter what form of media, there's lots of this. Something of a ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'' [[RecycledInSpace for Sonic.]]
* CulturalTranslation: A few of the concepts and character portrayals are taken from ''ComicBook/SonicTheComic'' and the novels that inspired said series, re-imagined to fit within the story continuity.
%%* DeadpanSnarker: Shadow surprisingly becomes one of these, having dropped his [[VideoGame/SonicAdventure2 emotional]] [[VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog baggage]].
%%* DummiedOut: Evidence of this story's "Adventure Gamebook" phase can still be found on [[http://www.infinite-story.com/story/3998/ Infinite Story]].
%%* EldritchAbomination:
%%** Ibliss and Mephiles defiantly qualify, being demonic and all
%%** Chip meets all the requirements of this trope, but is actually friendly and identifiable
* ExpansionPackPast: Tails Doll's mysterious red gem was discovered to be a prototype for the technology behind [[VideoGame/SonicAdventure2 Chaos Drives]] GUN would pioneer years later.
%%* GlowingEyelightsOfUndeath: Mephiles has these, being demonic and all.
%%* GlowingEyesOfDoom: The Brotherhood of Metallix core group has these, as well as the [[VideoGame/SonicColors Sonic Robots]] and the [[VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog Shadow Androids]].
* HellishPupils: Mephiles' eyes are likened to those of feral beasts or poisonous snakes, filled with an [[EldritchAbomination incomprehensible darkness]].
%%* MadScientist: Dr. Kai Narasu from the ''ComicBook/SonicX'' comics, though he's less scatterbrained than most, and actually quite efficient when not under pressure.
* NebulousEvilOrganization: Captain Westwood's group of anti-Sonic members managed to get themselves together and become an actual threat.
%%* OffscreenVillainDarkMatter: Eggman is guilty of this trope. Mephiles The Dark qualifies as well, but being demonic it's HandWaved.
%%* ThePsychoRangers: The core of the Brotherhood of Metallix.
%%* ReferenceOverdosed: And ''how''. See the whole list of [[ShoutOut/SonicWorldAdventureRush Shout Outs]].
* {{Repower}}: Espio the Chameleon gained slightly more chameleon-like abilities, and his clothing can't turn invisible with him anymore.
* ShowWithinAShow: Jet's adventure through ''VideoGame/SonicAndTheSecretRings'' draws heavily from the Literature/ArabianNights mythos, moreso than the game. As such, the story within a story, sometimes ''within'' a story, is used to effect much like it's source did.
* SimultaneousArcs: Several storylines are happening at the same time, with each character having their own enemies:
** Jet the Hawk is traveling through a StorybookEpisode to find Chaos Emeralds
** Wave the Swallow is traveling through a different StorybookEpisode to find Chaos Emeralds
** Sonic the Hedgehog is investigating strange occurrences
** Shadow the Hedgehog is tracking down the mysterious Nazo
** Silver the Hedgehog is trying to undo the nightmarish future by finding out which of the BigBadEnsemble caused it
* StorybookEpisode: Jet and Wave venture through prequels to the ''VideoGame/SonicStorybookSeries'' games to find Chaos Emeralds. Only when they learn how and why does it all make sense.
* YouHaveToBelieveMe: Subverted; Rouge overhears Westwood conversing with his cabal about his involvement with certain situations in the past. She knows no one will believe her, and so has to stop it herself.
