The Sith Academy is a Franchise/StarWars FanFic writing group with a shared AlternateUniverse, focused on the (regrettably) minor character Darth Maul. Initially a parody series centered on Maul's "training" (read: exploitation) by his master, Darth Sidious, it took a sharp turn into FoeYayShipping territory by the intentionally absurd pairing of Maul with a young Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The group operated from July 1999 to December 2001, covering 181 stories, with the finale being an alternate interpretation of the events of the Canon film The Phantom Menace. Unlike most FanFic, the series had an overall editorial policy, and so avoided a lot of the quality issues which plague fan work in general. It also had a rabidly active fanbase, who not only contributed stories but also ran a mailing list for them.
----
!!The series provides examples of:
%%* AlternateUniverseFic
%%* BigNo: a RunningGag of the series.
%%* CampGay: Sidious, much to Maul's great disgust.
%%--> Did every Sith have to like boys? When he was finally Master, would he be like Sidious, a flambouyant, wrinkled old queen, who has the bad taste of dressing like Mick Jagger on crack?
%%* CanonDefilement: Invoked Very intentionally done to all of the canon characters.
%%* CatsAreMean: "(waves paw) Bring Me Tuna. Now."
* ComedicSociopathy: A lot of the humor revolves around Maul and/or Obi-Wan being exploited, humiliated, squicked out, or just plain kicked around by the author.
%%* CrackFic: Several of the stories are intentionally ludicrous, especially "The Thirteenth Mary Sue."
%%* TheDarkSide: Very, very subverted.
%%* DepravedHomosexual: Darth Sidious, "The Dark Transvestite of the Sith," although Qui-Gon is arguably worse.
%%* EveryoneIsBi: Anyone who's not already gay. Most male characters are into drag as well.
* FixFic: Subverted; several of the stories "explain" later events of the Canon series in a tongue in cheek manner
* Flanderization: As the series progressed, Obi Wan became more and more pathetically co-dependent and overly cheery, to the point where the authors decided it had gotten too much and Hand Waved it by saying it was a side effect of medication.
%%* FoeYayShipping: Invoked, although the Jedi seem oblivious to it.
* GettingSmiliesPaintedOnYourSoul: The Jedi did this to the formerly rebellious punk Obi-Wan by sending him to the Happy Farm mental hospital and drugging him with Perkium.
* GuyOnGuyIsHot: All the authors appear to be straight women who really, really like writing slash.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Mace Windu's padawan, Jon-Tra Volta, and an unnamed Wookie have a half-human, half-Wookie child together. Jon-Tra himself is also a hybrid.
%%* InformedJudaism: Palpatine and Darth Maul, who was raised in the faith by Palpatine.
%%* IfItsYouItsOkay: Everyone else Maul lusts after continues to be female.
%%* JediMindTrick: Heavily abused by Sith and Jedi alike, but in at least one case Qui-Gon Jin gets into serious legal trouble because of it.
%%* KickTheDog: Maul's favorite pasttime; one of the original series guidelines was that "Obi Wan must be vexed."
* LightIsNotGood: PlayedForLaughs. Between the JediMindTrick abuse, sexual hedonism, and tendency to haul non-conformers to a mental hospital and drug them into submission, the Jedi order can only be described as blatantly and hilariously corrupt.
-->"Qui-Gon told me to quit seeing you," Obi-Wan sniffled. "Last time I defied him he sent me to the Jedi Happy Farm to be reprogrammed with Andy Griffith reruns." He shivered. Maul shivered as well. And people thought the Sith were cruel?
* LivingWithTheVillain: Obi Wan is Maul's next-door neighbor, and it's later learned that [[spoiler:Sidious is Obi-Wan's biological father]], yet all of the Jedi except Yoda (who doesn't seem too motivated to do anything about it) are in total denial that Maul and Sidious are Sith, even when Maul says so to their faces.
%%* ManInAKilt: [[strike:Ewan [=MacGregor=]]]Obi-Wan Kenobi often wears one, much to Maul's delight. "Kilt. Sex. Now."
%%* ManipulativeBastard: Darth Sidious, of course.
%%* MarySue: Invoked Satirized in a MetaFic actually called "The Thirteenth Mary Sue". Interestingly, while one of the main characters is actually named Darth Mary Sue, the character's creator insists that it was a coincidence.
* MetaFic: Much of the humor of the series comes from intentionally conflating the characters and the actors who played them, or from faux Foreshadowing of events in the later Canon stories. In addition, there several stories which break the fourth wall in various ways.
* MrSeahorse: A running gag is that Yaddle believes everyone who comes to the Jedi clinic to be pregnant, regardless of gender. Until Jon-Tra, a male HalfHumanHybrid, really does become pregnant.
%%* NauseaFuel: Invoked Very deliberately invoked, mostly via Sidious's sexual escapades, but also Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's freaky bedroom activities.
%%* NewAgeRetroHippie: Qui-Gon, "Jedi hippie freak."
* NoPeriodsPeriod: Subverted in a story where Darth Sidious uses the Force to transfer Darth Mary Sue's PMS to Maul.
* OverlyLongName: Dr. Lwkncalkdwoinvcalkdslaksowieuriuaoinclskdnfoaiwheoisldkhklgalskdhwoiazlzowx xvas-OOM! the 2983rd.
%%* Pollyanna: Obi Wan, to such an extent that the authors later felt it necessary to explain it away as the result of personality-altering medication.
%%* PowerPerversionPotential: "Force Driven Monkey Love" is the starting point; it gets much, much weirder at times.
* RunningGag: Yoda's moonlighting (he turns up at every business Maul visits), the BigNo, Maul's moldy clothes and food literally evolving new lifeforms and even civilizations, Yaddle thinking someone's pregnant, and so many more.
* SlashFic: There are virtually no male characters who are not paired up with other male characters, with the series main ship being Obi-wan/Darth Maul.
%%* StepfordSmiler: Obi-Wan and anyone else on Perkium.
%%* SuddenlySexuality: Maul's relationship with Obi-Wan, despite drooling over women in the previous stories and not showing the slightest interest in men.
* TakeThat: The first story was written to vent the author's frustration over a driving test. Later targets of the authors' collective ire include air travel, the National Rifle Association, IKEA stores, and Creator/MarthaStewart.
%%** A notable example due to being a subject of multiple reappearances are the Wedzies, a cadre of suicide commandos formed within the Jabba's Cult Witnesses dedicated to avenging their faith's besmirchment by killing 'The Anti-Jabba" (Maul).
* TrainingFromHell: Viciously subverted. The original premise of the series is the "bunch of menial crap" which Palpatine foists off on Maul under the guise of "training."
* TrashOfTheTitans: Maul's apartment is literally supernaturally filthy due to the corrupting effects of TheDarkSide.
%%* VillainProtagonist: Maul himself.
* VillainsOutShopping: Several of the stories involve this. Places visited by Maul and Sidious include Wal-Mart, IKEA, Blockbuster, and the hardware store.
* WaxOnWaxOff: Viciously subverted. The original premise of the series is the "bunch of menial crap" which Palpatine foists off on Maul under the guise of "training."
