A reformed [[WesternAnimation/InvaderZim Invader Zim]] is living a peaceful but boring life on an island with [[ThePowerOfFriendship his best friends Dib and GIR]]. This is until the day his world is engulfed by TheHeartless, an [[EldritchAbomination eldritch species]] that [[TheVirus feed on the hearts of innocent people]] and literally consume entire worlds. Zim is sucked through a portal and winds up in Traverse Town...

Any of this sound familiar? ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3298910/1/Kingdom-Crossovers Kingdom Crossovers]]'' is a WIP retelling of ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' that replaces Sora, Riku, and Kairi with [[WesternAnimation/InvaderZim Zim, Dib, and GIR]]; Donald and Goofy with [[ComicStrip/CalvinAndHobbes Calvin and Hobbes]]; King Mickey with [[{{ComicStrip/Garfield}} King Garfield]]; Jiminy Cricket with [[VideoGame/PlanescapeTorment Morte]]; and many other characters/worlds with [[MassiveMultiplayerCrossover characters/worlds from all sorts of series]]. [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Zuko]] is also joining Zim on his adventures through TheMultiverse.

As a text adaptation of a video game, it naturally induces AdaptationExpansion to full effect, with the scenes from ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' given more elaboration, and many scenes that were never in the game. It is unknown if the author plans to adapt the entire game series or just the first game.

[[http://hvkryter.tumblr.com/post/140361719297/ive-recently-made-the-decision-that-im-gonna The author has announced]] that there will be an in-universe ContinuityReboot with a more diversified team. (Warning: Link contains spoilers for both the current story and the reboot.)

The story contains appearances by characters and locations from the following franchises. Labeled after each is its role. (w) for "world" means the narrative visits the location. (c) for "character" means only that characters from that franchise show up. (r) for "reference" means that the franchise is merely referenced in some way.

A character sheet is under construction.
----
!!This fan fic provides examples of:

* AsHimself: The random movie scripts that mysteriously appear around Nicktown star various townspeople as themselves. The more well-written ones are filmed by Tommy Pickles with the collaboration of said townspeople. One example is Zim, who starred in "Zim Fantango".
** Fry and Bender had their memories extracted to make a show called "{{WesternAnimation/Futurama}}".
* BerserkButton: Mac isn't very happy when he finds out that Stewie injected Bloo with a Wobuffet's DNA, attempting to give him its powers.
** Mentioning Spike's mother in vain is enough to put him in a state of murderous rage.
* BigNo: GIR when Zim turns off his movie. He bounces back when Zim puts in "Zim Fantango".
** Zim when he's about to die to the Darkside, but regains the strength to continue fighting after he hallucinates GIR.
* BigShutUp: Zim when his evil doppelganger taunts him over his guilt of his past as a villain.
* BigWhat: Calvin and Hobbes when Bender expresses an interest in skinning Hobbes and selling his fur through the black market.
* BloodierAndGorier: The fight scenes are much more violent than anything shown by half of the series featured in the fic.
* BuffySpeak: Zim cleaning up GIR's mess in the living room:
--> '''Zim''': Prepare yourself to meet the delicious cleansing ''DOOM OF MY... THING I HAVE YET TO COMPOSE A NAME FOR!''
* CallBack: Razputin doesn't want to jump into Zim's mind because...
--> '''Razputin''': You wouldn't believe the trouble I've had getting inside non-human minds. The last time I did that, I ended up as Godzilla in a city populated by semi-intelligent lungfish. And that was before the circus of meat.
** During the same session with Razputin, there is one to the unfinished episode "The Trial":
--> '''Zim''': I always had a little bad luck. The Tallest before Red and Purple were eaten by a giant memory absorbing monster I accidentally set loose on different occasions.
** The Bigfoot who needs to sand his belt shows up, first in the Dive to the Heart, and later filming Dib humiliating himself.
** Calvin, Hobbes, and Morte get lost in the Ocean Between:
---> '''Calvin''': I told you before, I don't get lost. As a technomancer, alchemist, and general mystic, I have an innate sense of direction.
---> '''Hobbes''': Yukon.
** Hobbes tricking Calvin into jumping into an open trash can reminds Calvin of the time he fell into a gravel driveway in order to stop rollerskating at Hobbes' suggestion.
** Bloo dresses up as Orlando Bloo again.
** At some point in the past, Spike told Team Possible and Abel about the chip he used to have in his head, his relationship with Buffybot, and what happened to him in ''[[Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer Buffy's]]'' series finale and ''Series/{{Angel}}'''s season five premiere. They think he was just making it all up, though.
* CannotSpitItOut: Zim is unable to admit that he really cares for GIR.
* CommonalityConnection: How Zim and Dib became friends.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: The worst movie scripts that are mentioned under the AsHimself example above are used as a form of torture on heinous criminals: they are forced to read them.
* DirectionlessDriver: Calvin gets lost piloting the Gummi Ship in the Ocean Between.
* DistractedByTheSexy: While the characters composing Orlando Bloo argue amongst themselves, Morte watches them briefly before turning to stare at a "passing woman of questionable morality". A few minutes later, he tries to chase after a female zombie.
* {{Doorstopper}}: The fic has almost a million words in 21 chapters. And it's still in the first world after Traverse Town.
* DudeNotFunny: Razputin's reaction to Zim's joke about probing is to drop his notepad and stare in shock.
* FailedASpotCheck: Zim's unaware of Dib's laboratory complex despite Dib inviting him to help with the construction of the Portal Generator multiple times.
** Zim accuses Jimmy Neutron of stealing his beret. Turns out he's wearing it.
** Sheen still believes Zim is a human with a bad skin condition, despite the fact that [[WesternAnimation/JimmyNeutronBoyGenius he himself has encountered aliens before]], and that Zim being an alien is common knowledge now (he doesn't even wear the disguise anymore). However, he may just be trolling Zim.
** Cosmo had no idea that he's been married to Wanda for a thousand years.
* TheGhost: Garfield, who probably won't be showing up until the end. Certain Traverse Town residents who are referenced but never show up before the story moves to the next arc include Mr. Burns, Lorne, Zorak, and the Elric brothers.
* GoodAngelBadAngel: Happens when Zim is conflicted as to whether he should work or watch a movie with GIR.
* GroinAttack: The objective of the gameshow "Block That Kick" is to avoid one of these.
* HeroicBSOD: Zim after the Tallest disbanded the Irken Empire and then proceeded to get drunk, rendering Zim's entire purpose in life moot.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: The main reason Zim joined the Irken military was for people to like him.
* InexplicableTreasureChests: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]]. At one point on Destiny Islands, Zim finds himself in an area with a bridge that collapses when he steps on it and a tower with a zipline, mirroring the same area from the game. There is even a treasure chest in a cave containing a bracelet accessory item, leaving Zim to wonder who would put a treasure chest there.
* ItBeganWithATwistOfFate: The entire reason Zim is the biggest threat to the Heartless is that he shared an idea for an invention while drinking with some other mad scientists one day. One of the scientists stole the idea and invented the O.O.P.S., which the Irkens' enemy ironically used on Zim during the big galactic war, causing him to go through a HeelFaceTurn and, later on, get chosen by the Keyblade.
* LameComeback:
--> '''Zim''': That's the only clear answer you've given this entire time.
--> '''Caritas''': We haven't even spoken for five minutes.
--> '''Zim''': Tha... well... uh... er... Your clothes aren't appropriate to this time and socio-political climate!
* LaughWithMe: Zim commanding Razputin to laugh at his joke in a threatening tone. However, this is also a joke and he gets annoyed when Razputin doesn't realize this and reacts scared.
* MindRape: The Overview Omnipresent Perspective Sphere does this. Anyone strapped into it is forced to feel every harm (both physical and emotional) they've ever done to another person along with every harm they've ever considered doing, all at once. It normally causes the victim's mind to blow out, but Zim survived it thanks to his Pak taking most of the impact and this is what led him to a MyGodWhatHaveIDone moment and his HeelFaceTurn.
* {{MST}}: Zim apparently hacked into Dib's laptop for the sole purpose of doing this to his private blog.
* NonSequiturThud: Zim after GIR flies him to their destination too fast, dazing him.
--> '''Zim''': I don't think I can do the exam, General Magnigaran; I got the brain worms again.
** Calvin after falling into a garbage can and rolling until it hits a lamppost:
---> '''Calvin''': Somebody stop the Planet of the Apes, I want to get off.
* NoodleIncident: The TropeNamer itself returns. What else would you expect from a story with Calvin and Hobbes in it? Besides that, there are several original ones mentioned throughout the story:
** The last time Dib experimented with parascience in his garage, it resulted in the town being invaded by [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot zombie demon chickens]].
** Zim telling Razputin about his past:
---> '''Zim''': Come to think of it, [working as a research scientist] was right after an oatmeal packet I tinkered with turned into a tiny supernova and wiped out half the planet's sugar supply.
** Carl and Sheen look on as Zim beats up a rock:
---> '''Sheen''': And you wanted to go to the movies.
---> '''Carl''': In the movies, crazy aliens don't try to shoot you.
---> '''Sheen''': Didn't that happen about three days ago?
---> '''Carl''': Yeah, but they didn't yell as much.
** The last time GIR got onto Jimmy's head, Jimmy ended up with a severe phobia of explosive chocolate rabbits. He still has nightmares about them.
** When Calvin, Hobbes, and Morte first arrive in Traverse Town, Calvin has an idea of what to do next. Hobbes is more than a little skeptical.
---> '''Hobbes''': If it ends up like any of your other plans, we'll either be publicly ridiculed at gunpoint, end up crashing into the bottom of a cliff, wind up among xenophobic tentacled alien-beasts, attacked by giant prehistoric reptiles from the depths of a crazed artist's nightmares, or get so lost we create our own spacial singularity. ... And that last one happened in a ''straight room''.
** As Stewie and Jarod are taking part in the Orlando Bloo TotemPoleTrench, Stewie picks up Calvin and Hobbes by the scruff of the neck, causing Jarod to protest.
---> '''Jarod''': Stewie, you better not be antagonizing them! You remember the incident with the Pokemon Ambassadors? ''I'' remember the incident with the Pokemon Ambassadors!
** While looking for Spike, Calvin and Hobbes compare their own weird life to Morte's.
---> '''Hobbes''': And here I thought ''our'' life was weird.
---> '''Calvin''': Hey, that one time Bigfoot mistook us for its illegitimate children and tried to legally repossess us? And here Dad said learning the basics of Sasquatch legal processes was a waste of time.
---> '''Hobbes''': Or what about those three months in which we were a research project for those bored angels?
---> '''Calvin''': I definitely can't forget the time the spirit of the Earth itself became convinced that we were the Lindbarg baby and the avatar of the sabretooth tigers.
---> '''Hobbes''': What about the NoodleIncident?
---> '''Calvin''': You can't prove I did that!
** Bloo thinks Hobbes is about to shave Mac's head:
---> '''Bloo''': If we go out like that, we'll be humiliated beyond compare! I'll never be able to show my face again! The public would condemn and taunt us everywhere we go, torment us at everything we do! ''I can't take that kind of rejection!''
---> '''Mac''': If they didn't hate you after that fiasco with the giant bulldozer and the Lawn Gnome Empire, I'm pretty sure they'd be able to get over me being bald in public.
* OhCrap: Zim's reaction right before being forced into the O.O.P.S.
** Zim when his weapon suddenly disappears while fighting Wrath.
** Zim when he can't find GIR as the Heartless begin to invade Nicktown.
** Zim again when the first Shadow he encounters prepares to attack.
* OneSteveLimit: There are not many people in Traverse Town that share the same name, except for...
** PlanetOfSteves: ...the many people named Cid.
* PassThePopcorn: Sandy eats popcorn while filming a confrontation between Zim and GIR simply because she has nothing better to do.
* PersonAsVerb: Zim's screw-ups are so notorious that "I pulled a Zim" was a common saying on Irk.
* PrimalFear: Zim's initial reaction to the Heartless.
* PurpleProse: The high word count can be partly attributed to the ''Fanfic/MyImmortal''-esque[[note]]Only with proper spelling and grammar and a wider vocabulary.[[/note]] descriptions of every character's apparel.
* PutTheirHeadsTogether: Hobbes does it to Calvin and Morte when he's sick of their arguing.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Zim's doppelganger doles one out to him about how he's been nothing but a failure his entire life.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: Happens to the vision of Dib during Zim's Dive to the Heart.
* ShoutOut: Zim would like to threaten his nostalgia of his old life with [[Series/TheHoneymooners a punch that would send it straight to the moon]].
* SkywardScream: Zim's very first line in the story:
--> '''Zim''': Stupid thoughts... ''WHY WON'T YOU JUST SHUT UP!''
** After Zim and GIR escape Plankton's assassination attempt...
---> '''Zim''': I wouldn't have to use the override code if you could just ''grasp the concept of your own mortality!''
---> '''GIR''': Does it come with fries and a sixty-four ounce?
---> '''Zim''': ''You see what I have to live with?''
** A dramatic one after Zim loses GIR, Dib, and Gaz:
---> '''Zim''': Wherever you are, I'm going to find you and get you back! NO MATTER WHAT!
* {{Main/Sleepwalking}}: Sleepworking, actually. In chapter 6, Calvin builds an entire invention while sleeping at a desk.
* StrollingThroughTheChaos: Gaz singlehandedly ended the galactic war by casually walking into the enemy base and unplugging the power grid, [[JerkWithAHeartOfJerk because the signals were interfering with her Game Slave.]]
* TalkingInYourSleep: Zim falls asleep while watching a movie with GIR. He says this in his sleep:
--> '''Zim''': Huh? What's that? Oh, yeah. I like cake, Rana. I deserve, 'cause I'm so amazing. I even got the Amazingly Amazible Award of Amazing Amazingness; I'm just that good. What? No, GIR, NO! STAY AWAY FROM THE POWER AMPLIFIER! THE SPONGECAKES! THEY BUUUURN!
* ThatCameOutWrong: The Xiaolin Dragons mention that Spike hangs out in the park a lot. They quickly realize that when taken out of context, that makes it sound like he's there for sinister purposes. [[EvenEvilHasStandards Even Bender is disturbed.]] The real reason Spike hangs out there a lot is because all the shade it provides protects him from the sunlight, as he's a vampire.
* TheseAreThingsManWasNotMeantToKnow: It's implied that Dib's studies of the supernatural are what led him down the slippery slope to embracing the darkness.
