!''WesternAnimation/SouthPark''
EnsembleDarkhorse in this series.
----
!!In General
* A lot of tertiary and one-shot characters have become incredibly popular with fanfiction writers or in some cases have large fanbases rivaling those of reappearing characters.

!!Main Series
[[AC:Throughout the seasons]]
* The tertiary classmates can have their own fan followings, such as Kevin Stoley (the ''Star Wars''-loving kid), Brimmy (the shy boy in a blue cap) and [[http://southpark.wikia.com/wiki/DogPoo_Petuski Dog Poo]].

[[AC:Season 1]]
* As noted above a lot of teriary and one-shot characters are popular with fanfiction writers, but perhaps the most baffling is [[Recap/SouthParkS1E10Damien Damien]], the son of Satan, who has spoken in exactly ''one episode'' and appeared in the background in a few others. Searching for him on fanfiction.net produces ''five pages'' of results, or over a hundred stories. He wouldn't be ''nearly'' as popular if [[YaoiFangirl slash fans]] hadn't noticed his interaction with Pip, another example of this trope, in the one episode he was in. If you look closely at those fanfiction.net pages, you'll see that nearly all of them are Damien/Pip fanfics. Which is even more baffling, considering that Damien ''set Pip on fire'' to earn the respect of the other boys.

[[AC:Season 3]]
* Chef's Parents get a lot of love due to their banter and their stories about the Loch Ness Monster. Many were disappointed that they only appeared twice, not even appearing at [[spoiler: Chef's funeral]].
%%* The Cotswolds siblings
* Kelly for being Kenny's first girlfriend and the fact she's the first person who actually cared about Kenny dying and even managed to reanimate him.

[[AC:WesternAnimation/SouthParkBiggerLongerAndUncut]]
* Ze Mole's only appearance in the entire series (aside from an extremely brief one second cameo in "Two Guys Naked in a Hot Tub", where he's seen on Late Night with Conan O'Brien) is in the movie. He appears for roughly 15 minutes in the movie. He is by far one of the most popular subjects in South Park fan-fiction and fan-art.
%%* Gregory

[[AC:Season 7]]
* The popularity of the Goth Kids might be because fangirls like to use them as an outlet for their own angst--which is ironic, because ''[[MisaimedFandom that's the kind of attitude the Goth kids are supposed to be a parody of]],'' with them doing it just to stand out and look down on others. The creators seem to have noticed their popularity, as the characters have been appearing more frequently, and even [[ADayInTheLimelight got to star in their own episode]]. Twice!

%%[[AC:Season 8]]

[[AC:Season 9]]
* Just like Professor Chaos, Butter's other alter-ego Marjorine is also popular with the fans.

[[AC:Season 10]]
* Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, and John Wayne Gacy, the Three Murderers. They are sent back to earth by Satan and tasked with picking up the cake for his Halloween party. They are portrayed as comically inept and get into wacky ''[[Film/TheThreeStooges Three Stooges]]''-style hijinks, usually [[BlackComedy the result of their inability to control their murderous urges]]. Checking the comments on any [=YouTube=] clip of the one episode they appeared in shows that many fans felt that their subplot was the funniest bit of the episode, and hope to see them again.

[[AC:Season 11]]
* For a guy who has only appeared in one episode and whose only relationship appears to be with Butters (meaning there shouldn't be much for fanfic writers to actually do with him) Bradley from "[[Recap/SouthParkS11E2CartmanSucks Cartman Sucks]]" has quite a few stories about him getting with Butters.
* Thomas from "[[Recap/SouthParkS11E8LePetitTourette Le Petit Tourette]]" is loved for being a sympathetic and realistic portrayal of Tourette's Syndrome.

[[AC:Season 13]]
* Tammy Warner, Kenny's second girlfriend in "The Ring." Similar to Kelly, she's genuinely nice to Kenny, despite being slut-shamed for giving a boy a blowjob and [[spoiler:giving Kenny syphilis]]. Her design helps as well since she's based off Music/MileyCyrus.

[[AC:Season 14]]
* Nathan and Mimsy have a rather large fanbase. Nathan originally appeared as a minor character in a 2004 episode ("[[Recap/SouthParkS8E2UpTheDownSteroid Up the Down Steroid]]"), before having a major role as the antagonist of the episode "[[Recap/SouthParkS14E7CrippledSummer Crippled Summer]]" years later. In this episode, he was presented as a [[TheSociopath sociopathic]] but {{ineffect|ualSympatheticVillain}}ive EvilCounterpart to Jimmy, and was given a lackey named Mimsy who would always inadvertently ruin his schemes to defeat and/or kill Jimmy. Since then, Nathan and Mimsy have become incredibly well-received, and have been appearing more frequently in the show's recent seasons.

[[AC:Season 15]]
* Karen has gained her own massive fan base ever since her first speaking appearance in "[[Recap/SouthParkS15E14ThePoorKid The Poor Kid]]". Many fans consider her and her relationship with her big brother Kenny to be among one of the show's most adorable and heartwarming elements, so much so that many fans absolutely gushed at her other speaking role and her redesign in "[[Recap/SouthParkS19E3TheCityPartOfTown The City Part of Town]]", which many consider to be to be one of the best parts of the episode.
* Mr. Adams' from the Season Fifteen finale "The Poor Kid" due to being one of the few subversions of AdultsAreUseless in the show and being a NiceGuy with a very sympathetic MyGodWhatHaveIDone moment at the end of the episode.

[[AC:Season 17]]
* As far as Kenny's alter-egos go, [[WholesomeCrossdresser Princess Kenny]] is also well-loved for being a perfect parody of {{Moe}} in anime and for being adorable in ...her?... own right, inspiring tons of fan art, cosplay, and even [[JustForFun/PrincessKenny a fake trope page for a Princess Kenny series]] on this wiki, despite only appearing as an anime character for about 2-3 minutes. While his appearance in ''The Stick of Truth'' tones down the anime elements, [[spoiler: it also makes him into one of the main villains and the FinalBoss via a PlotTwist]], ''despite'' [[DidntSeeThatComing his super-girly princessy getup]].
* The old man who keeps yelling at Cartman for trespassing in his garden during the "Black Friday" trilogy was cited by critics and fans as one of the best parts of those three episodes.

[[AC:Season 18]]
* The little chicken [=McNuggets=] from "[[Recap/SouthParkS18E8CockMagic Cock Magic]]" was universally loved from fans being just an adorable young chicken that plays TabletopGame/MagicTheGathering and was considered the underdog.

[[AC:Season 19]]
* Despite appearing for only the second half of "[[Recap/SouthParkS19E5SafeSpace Safe Space]]", Reality has amassed a colossal fan base for being the only one to point out how ridiculous safe spaces are and calling out Safe Spacers on how entitled and pathetic they are. However, he's also received a lot of flak for the notion that anti Social Justice Warriors also hide behind their own echo chambers and communities.
* Leslie Meyers due to being a RunningGag character that PC Principal calls out on during school assemblies. She manages to get even ''more'' popular with the revelation that [[spoiler:she's the BigBad of Season 19, and proves to be a very effective antagonist without having to resort to shock humor]]. There are many fan art with Leslie, with many fans shipping her with either Jimmy and/or Kyle. Despite [[spoiler:dying]], many fans hope that she can return somehow in later seasons.
* [[HookerWithAHeartOfGold Classi]] who appears only in a few scenes, but steals the show by [[PayEvilUntoEvil wailing on Nathan]] and later helping Jimmy [[spoiler: take down the ads]].

[[AC:Season 20]]
* After the events of "[[Recap/SouthParkS20E2SkankHunt Skank Hunt]]" and "[[Recap/SouthParkS20E3TheDamned The Damned]]", Heidi Turner became extremely popular, especially after the latter gave her[[note]]although she had some previously with him in "[[Recap/SouthParkS9E10FollowThatEgg Follow That Egg]]"[[/note]] ShipTease with [[spoiler:Eric Cartman himself, and eventually [[OfficialCouple began dating]] between then and "[[Recap/SouthParkS20E4WienersOut Wieners Out]]".]]

[[AC:Season 21]]
* "[[Recap/SouthParkS21E4FranchisePrequel Franchise Prequel]]" served mostly as a way to promote the then-upcoming game, ''[[VideoGame/SouthParkTheFracturedButWhole The Fractured But Whole]]'', but it also gave us what many have called one of the show’s funniest celebrity parodies in Mark Zuckerberg. The episode portrays him as a CloudCuckooLander who speaks in [[HongKongDub a voice with poor audio quality that fails to match up with his lip movements]], and gives him a subplot where he acts as TheThingThatWouldNotLeave to the entire town. Most people regarded his subplot of annoying people with his “unblockable shtoyle” to have been the highlight of the episode.

[[AC:Season 22]]
* "[[Recap/SouthParkS22E5TheScoots The Scoots]]" gives the unidentified kids in ''VideoGame/{{Fortnite}}'' costumes. They're not important to the plot, but are quite popular due to the mysteries behind their identities.
* Josh Carter from Season 22's [[Recap/SouthParkS22E9Unfulfilled two-part]] [[Recap/SouthParkS22E10BikeParade finale,]] who was mutilated while working in the Amazon fulfillment center and later leads the Amazon strikers while trapped in a box, is quite popular among leftist fans for being a sympathetic leftist character (even quoting Marxist theory on numerous occasions) despite his appearance and the fact he [[spoiler:dies]] in his second episode.

[[AC:Season 25]]
* "[[Recap/SouthParkS25E6CredigreeWeedStPatricksDaySpecial Credigree Weed St Patricks Day Special]]": Butters’ public defender is quite popular despite only showing up in one scene. It is probably because she's a beautiful woman and one of the few characters to count as a MsFanservice.

[[AC:Season 26]]
* "[[Recap/SouthParkS26E2TheWorldwidePrivacyTour The Worldwide Privacy Tour]]": The host of Good Morning Canada was immediately well-liked due to bluntly telling the Prince and his wife that they're attention-seeking hypocrites who overplay the victim card.
* While she technically debuted in the "[[Recap/SouthParQVaccinationSpecial South ParQ Vaccination Special]]", new minor character Betsy gets the chance to speak in "[[Recap/SouthParkS26E3JapaneseToilets Japanese Toilets]]" and "[[Recap/SouthParkS26E4DeepLearning Deep Learning]]". Fans took to her for her adorable tomboy design and for being voiced by and sort of named after Trey Parker's daughter Betty Boogie Parker.

!!Video Games
[[AC:VideoGame/SouthParkTheStickOfTruth]]
* Annie Knitts saw a notable rise in popularity following her appearance in ''The Stick of Truth''. Primarily because she's often shipped with [[PlayerCharacter The New Kid]].

[[AC:VideoGame/SouthParkTheFracturedButWhole]]
* The diabetic Scott Malkinson has also gained a decent following, possibly attributing to his more frequent appearances in recent seasons, but he gained even more popularity as his superhero alter-ego "Captain Diabetes".

!!Paramount + Films
[[AC:WesternAnimation/SouthParkPostCovid]]
* Cartman's kids are shown to be quite popular despite not having much of a role other that to show off Cartman's family. It helps that Cartman's daughter is voiced by Trey Parker's daughter, Cartman's oldest son looks exactly like him albeit with different hair style and color, and Cartman's infant son's constantly saying "fuck you, Kyle!"
[[AC:WesternAnimation/SouthParkPostCovidTheReturnOfCovid]]
* Heather Williams has become quite popular, probably because like Cartman's daughter she is voiced by Trey Parker's daughter. She definitely popular enough to make a recurring appearance in Season 25 and onwards.
* Kyle's kids in the fixed timeline. They only briefly appear in the end to show Kyle has children and their only lines are "Uncle Stan", but despite that they are quite popular if because of how adorable they are and brings speculation on who Kyle married and gave birth to his children.
