2Nalo Hopkinson (born 20 December 1960) is a Jamaican-Canadian science fiction and fantasy writer, who currently lives and teaches in Riverside, California. Hopkinsonā€™s novels, such as ''Midnight Robber'', ''The Salt Roads'', ''The New Moon's Arms'' and ''Brown Girl in the Ring'' often draw on Caribbean history and language.

4Hopkinson is a recipient of the Warner Aspect First Novel Award, the Ontario Arts Council Foundation Award for emerging writers, the MediaNotes/JohnWCampbellAwardForBestNewWriter, the Locus Award for Best New Writer, the World Fantasy Award, the Sunburst Award for Canadian Literature of the Fantastic (twice), the Aurora Award, the Gaylactic Spectrum Award, the Norton Award, and the MediaNotes/DamonKnightMemorialGrandMasterAward for lifetime achievement.
