!!I Don’t Trope About It:
* AlphaBitch: The antagonist in "I Hate The Homecoming Queen".
* California: At least for a Creator/DisneyChannel alumnus, she holds the distinct difference of being a native Californian still residing in the state, she is very proud and open of the fact, and many of her social media accounts betray this, from her slang to her humor to her documented travels and activities.
* CreatorBacklash: As of 2016, Emily felt this way about the writing on her pop releases for Wind-Up Records, namely Fight Or Flight, based on her comments in a NKD mag interview:
-->“I wasn’t writing by myself. I was writing with a bunch of people, and I had a manager who just threw me in the room with 60 different writers and it didn’t really feel as organic as the music I was listening to, like Incubus and Modest Mouse. It was an interesting process. I have a bunch of music that I’m just sitting on, and I’m kind of just taking my time because the first time around I went way too fast and I hate all those songs now. But it was a part of me and that was what I was like at that age.”
* CutSong: A title song for "Fight Or Flight" was performed on her All The Right Wrongs and Clap Your Hands tours, but it did not make the final tracklisting.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** Listen to the early, innocuous teen pop of "I Don't Think About It" or "Hero In Me" and compare it with the likes of "Marisol", "Drift" or her Fight Or Flight album.
** Emily has mentioned that the music she released from 2019 on was released under the alias of "Bluebiird" as it bears little resemblance to the poppier music she released under her own name at the beginning of the decade.
* EnforcedMethodActing: Emily mentioned that the "You Are The Only One" video was shot after a long, strenuous day for her, which added to Emily's emotional performance during the "rainy" moments and the tears running down her face.
* FollowYourHeart: Marisol.
* GirlishPigtails: As Gerti Giggles.
* GratuitousPanning:
** Double Talk.
** The ambient electric piano in "Drift" pans from speaker to speaker.
* IdenticalStranger: Much humor has been made by her fans, and herself, on social media of her resemblance to Music/CarrieUnderwood (who was born exactly nine years earlier).
* LineOfSightName: "Marisol", named after a street sign Emily read while on a walk.
* NewSoundAlbum:
** Her EP All The Right Wrongs has a pop-rock sound, while Fight Or Flight has a synth-pop/dubstep/electronica feel.
** The EP Emily has recorded under the StageName of "Bluebiird" in 2019 has a symphonic indie folk sound.
* PersonalRaincloud: The music video for "You Are The Only One" shows her singing the song to the camera at some kind of indoor party or get-together; as the song is about a roller-coaster relationship, it occasionally rains over Emily's head as a symbol of the relationship's difficult moments, as she is singing under an umbrella.
* Precision D-Strike: "I Hate The Homecoming Queen" and "Found Out About You" from All The Right Wrongs feature the word "damn".
** A Precision S-Strike appears in the chorus of the Bluebiird song, "Black Coffee Morning".
* SelfDeprecation: Her Website/Twitter posts often have a self-deprecating sense of humor about her 5'3 height, "hipster" IndieRock musical influences and fascinations with pandas and Canada, where she often tours.
* ShoutOut:
** In "1-800 Clap Your Hands":
-->It's gonna take more than your seven-nation army
-->I'll fight 'cause I know I'm right
** "Get Yer Yah-Yahs Out" is a slightly differently spelled reference to Music/Band 1970 live album.
** Emily has suggested that the spelling of her new musical alias as "Bluebiird" is a nod to the Scottish electro-pop band Miike Snow, whom she is a fan of.
* WordSaladLyrics: Many of the songs on her Fight Or Flight album have cryptic, poetic lyrics. "Drift" is another good example.
