[[Series/WhoseLineIsItAnyway Let's move on to a game called]] [[JustForFun/DescribeTopicHere "Describe Drew Carey Here."]] Take it away, tropers.

Drew Allison Carey (born May 23, 1958) is an American actor, comedian, sports executive, {{game show host}} and photographer best known as a stand-up comedian, creating and starring in his eponymous series ''Series/TheDrewCareyShow'' and hosting the first eight seasons of the U.S. version of ''Series/WhoseLineIsItAnyway'' (the ones that first aired on Creator/{{ABC}} and [[Creator/{{Freeform}} ABC Family]]).

Carey grew up in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood of UsefulNotes/{{Cleveland}}, UsefulNotes/{{Ohio}}, and attended James Ford Rhodes High School. He went on to college at Kent State University, but was expelled twice for poor academic performance and ultimately left after three years. Subsequently he enlisted in the United State Marine Corps Reserve and served for four years.

His comedy career started in 1986 when he won an open-microphone contest and became Master of Ceremonies at the Cleveland Comedy Club, but he only entered the public eye when he competed in the 1988 ''Series/StarSearch''. His big break would come a few years later when first he appeared on [[Series/TheTonightShowStarringJohnnyCarson The Tonight Show]] and after a wildly successful set was given the immense honor of having Johnny Carson wave him over for an impromptu interview which, in stand-up circles, was basically the equivalent of a golden ticket. His stand-up career led to supporting roles on television shows and a small role in the movie ''Film/{{Coneheads}}''. In 1995, he premiered in ''Series/TheDrewCareyShow'', where he played a fictionalized version of himself, though he grew frustrated with the censors and his inability to employ his usual off-color humor.

Fortunately, he found his next calling in improv television with ''Series/WhoseLineIsItAnyway'', followed by ''Drew Carey's Green Screen Show'' and ''Series/DrewCareysImprovAGanza''. He was also one of the founders of the Improv All-Stars, a group of improv actors that contributed talent to these three shows.

In 2007, Carey began hosting game shows, starting with the short-lived ''Power of Ten''. Carey was subsequently contacted by Creator/{{CBS}} about replacing Bob Barker as host of ''Series/ThePriceIsRight'', and he has served as its host since the fall of 2007.

In addition to these roles, Carey has played minor roles across television and film.

!!Tropes associated with Drew Carey:
* AchillesHeel: It's not hard to get Drew to laugh, but it ''is'' hard to make him '''stop'''.
* EmbarrassingMiddleName: Allison, which gets made fun of on his eponymous show (as it's his character's full name). Ryan Stiles also makes fun of it on ''Series/WhoseLineIsItAnyway''.
* FormerlyFat: He lost a ''massive'' amount of weight around 2010, to the point of being nearly unrecognizable to many fans, and even manging to reverse his diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes.
* LovableNerd: The fictionalized version of himself on ''The Drew Carey Show'' fit this role, and so did the real Carey on ''Whose Line?''.
* NerdGlasses: He continued to wear glasses after getting LASIK surgery because they're so integral to his public image. He says he's since developed a need for bifocals.
* NiceGuy: He's a very laid-back, unassuming kind of guy who is also famous for being NiceToTheWaiter.
* SemperFi: As said above, he served in the Marines. He even plays a retired Marine on one episode of ''Series/{{NCIS}}'' (which used a real-life picture of him in his uniform for his character's bio).
