Deborah Ann Ryan (born May 13, 1993) is an American actress and singer, best known for starring in the Creator/DisneyChannel original series Series/TheSuiteLifeOnDeck and Series/Jessie in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The series established Ryan as a TeenIdol, and she was a regular feature on other Disney Channel programs, including the TV films 16 Wishes and Film/RadioRebel.

In early 2014 she formed a band called The Never Ending. Their debut EP, One, was released on June 24, 2014. Following the end of Jessie and her time as a teen idol, Ryan has continued to act, including starring in the Creator/Netflix dark comedy Series/Insatiable, the 2021 film Film/NightTeeth, and the 2023 film Film/Shortcomings.

Compare to Creator/JennetteMcCurdy, who happens to be one of Ryan's closest friends in RealLife. Not to be confused with contemporary Disney teen idol Music/DemiLovato. Since 2019, she has been married to Josh Dun, the drummer for Music/TwentyOnePilots.

!!This actress's works provide examples of:
* ActorAllusion: The WesternAnimation/GoldieAndBear episode "Thumbelina's Wild Ride" has her voice another babysitter.
* CoverVersion:
** Of "We Got the Beat" by The Go-Go's for Film/RadioRebel.
** Most of her best-known songs: the aforementioned "We Got The Beat", "Deck the Halls", "Hakuna Matata", "We Are Never Never Ever Getting Back Together", "Superstition"
** She has also covered Music/KatyPerry and with her band.
* DarkerAndEdgier:
** Her cover of "Superstition" - up to that point all of her songs have been bubbly pop songs, and even TheCoverChangesTheMeaning rendition of "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" was still a SofterAndSlowerCover version of a pop song.
** Jessie. Both the character and the show itself are a little more "grown up" compared to Suite Life On Deck" and Disney Channel fare in general.
** Herself with her band The Neverending, pretty much amounting to a complete transformation. "Superstition" as it turned out was a preview of this "new" post-Disney Debby. In many ways parallels the transformation of fellow KidCom actresses-turned-musicians Music/ArianaGrande and (a softer version of) Creator/MileyCyrus.
* DarkestHour: "Open Eyes" is all about this, mixed with HopeSpringsEternal: The lyrics remind the listener that even though things might seem dark right now, the dawn always comes eventually.
* DoItYourselfThemeTune: "Hey, Jessie" for Series/Jessie.
* LargeHam: She tends to be very hammy in her comedic roles.
* ShrinkingViolet: Her character in Film/RadioRebel (incidentally, the trope name is also the name of the source material novel).
* SofterAndSlowerCover: "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"
