''Albion'' was a six-issue Creator/{{Wildstorm}} miniseries plotted by Creator/AlanMoore, written by Creator/LeahMoore and John Reppion, and drawn by Shane Oakley and George Freeman.

The series revives classic British comic-book characters like ComicBook/SteelClaw, ComicBook/TheSpider, and ComicBook/CaptainHurricane.

In modern-day Britain, most of the superheroes of the 1960's and 1970's have been locked away in a mental asylum, with the public long believing them to be mere fiction. Penny, the daughter of one of the inmates, seeks to change this.

!!This miniseries contains examples of:

* TheBigGuy: Captain Hurricane is a huge strongman.
* BloodKnight: Deconstructed with Captain Hurricane. Though described in the original stories' narration as a "[[InformedAttribute genial giant]]", Hurricane always seemed on the verge of great anger over the slightest thing, grew moody and irritable whenever circumstances kept him away from battle, and would trounce anyone in his way once his "ragin' furies" took hold of him. In this universe, it's revealed that he was the closest thing to perfect to come out of a failed super-soldier program (possibly being only ''14'' at the time), and his furies were [[TheBerserker uncontrollable psychotic massacres]] where he ripped enemy tanks, and soldiers, to shreds. "Maggot" Malone, who posed as his loyal batman, is implied to be the doctor who originally created him, and was charged with keeping him heavily sedated throughout the war to ensure he would remain semi-functional; even decades later, believing he's in quiet retirement and living at the prison of his own free will, Hercules is still being drugged to keep him from going into a fit and killing everyone. Eagleton shuts down Nolan's idea of using him as crowd control in the riot because the man is completely directionless in his violence.
* CanonWelding:
** Penny, originally a Minnie the Minx copy named "Bad Penny", is the daughter of Eric Dolmann here.
** Fatty, the human originally appearing in ''The Nervs'', is "a colony organism" being held for observation, and revealed to be comprised of both Nervs and Numskulls, from a similar concept in ''The Beano'' (see WritingAroundTrademarks).
** [[spoiler:Danny, or Danny Doom, is the magical heir to Cursitor Doom.]]
* CerebusRetcon: Most notably with Captain Hurricane and Grimly Feendish.
** In the original comics, Hurricane was a heroic soldier with super strength who helped fight the Germans during [=WW2=]. Albion reveals that he's actually the only survivor of a SuperSoldier experiment, which turned him into a superhuman psychopath who butchered countless enemy soldiers with his bare hands in a berserker rage (a reference to the original character's destructive "ragin' furies" that were unleashed when the already massive and strong Hurricane really lost his temper).
** Grimly Feendish originated from the humor comic strip ''Eagle Eye, Junior Spy'', where he was known as "The Rottenest Crook In the World" (and very similar to Uncle Fester from ''Series/TheAddamsFamily'') . Albion changes the comical portrayal of his ghoulish behavior, and shows him to be a mass murderer and psychopath who traumatized his underage nemesis.
* ComicBookTime: It's impossible to say just how old some of the characters are, simply that they're older than they ''were''.
* DeliberateValuesDissonance: Captain Hurricane is casually racist.
* FatBastard: Grimly Feendish, he'd give The Blob a run for his money.
* ItsPersonal: Heavily implied between Ian Eagleton, the warden of the asylum, and Feendish, who had been his arch nemesis in the days of ''Eagle Eye, Junior Spy''. The trauma Feendish caused him as a child hero is implied to be the reason why Eagle Eye helped imprison all other costumed people.
* TheMasquerade: The Thatcher government had everyone with superhuman abilities or otherwise extraordinary tendencies rounded up and locked away because they didnt want anyone disrupting the rigid society of Conservative Britain.
* PaedoHunt: Grimly Feendish is said by Eagleton to be "a moral degenerate" singularly "obsessed with corrupting our children's minds", with "gross indecency" on the list of charges that landed him in prison, and the dialogue between the two plays very much like a grown-up molestation victim confronting their abuser. When Feendish finally traps his old enemy in the elevator, his monsters begin uncomfortably fondling Eagleton as the poor man cowers in fear.
-->'''Eagleton:''' You've had your way for long enough. The world is well ''rid'' of your influence.\
'''Feendish:''' ''[Grinning sickly, slaver on his lips]'' Ah, my dear boy, do you not remember? It is my ''influence'' that has made you the man you are today.\
''[A panel in flashback of Eagle Eye with his back to the wall, terrified, as the huge shadow of Feendish advances on him; Eagleton in the present day looks vulnerable and shaken, then hits Grimly across the face]''\
'''Eagleton:''' I am my ''own'' man, Mr. Feendish.
* TheQuisling: Jason Hyde, "The Man With the X-Ray Eyes", works as a security guard in the asylum, helping to keep his former allies locked away.
* UngratefulBastard: Back in the 80's, The Spider agreed to help UsefulNotes/MargaretThatcher's government round up every superhero and supervillain, as well as anyone else with powers who might have disrupted the Tories' plans, which he did. As a reward, he ended up being locked up, too.
* WritingAroundTrademarks: Due to the split-up rights of the IPC library (anything which debuted after 1970 is the copyright of the Egmont Group, rather than Time Warner), certain characters have to be obscured or appear only in cameos.
** "Fred Akerly" and "Martina" are Faceache and Martha of ''Martha's Monster Makeup'', respectively; although the former appears identical and still has his trademark "scrunge" sound effect, he's given a mundane civilian alias to replace his nickname, and Martina is seen from behind applying her jar of special makeup in the climax.
** Doctor Rat is shown working in the cafeteria alongside Fred, but is never mentioned by name.
** Alf, a member of the original Numskulls, makes a cameo as part of the Fatty "colony"; as the characters are owned by DC Thomson, the specimen is only identified as "MENORG [=NUM9281=]".
