->''"Senpai will be mine... He doesn't have a choice."''

->'''Voiced by''': Creator/MichaelaAmandaLaws[[note]] (except for [[LaughingMad her laugh]], which was provided by "Moesaurus")[[/note]]

The titular VillainProtagonist of ''Yandere Simulator''. Her sole goal in the game is to confess to Senpai without any troublesome rivals in her way. She's a teenager, and is in class 2-1.
-----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: Senpai will become disturbed by her if she harasses him too much. This is played straighter in older builds when Senpai used to angrily tell her to leave him alone, but in newer builds he tells her more sympathetically to do so.
* AdaptationalVillainy: Somehow manages to pull this off. Mission Mode's timeline has her in the role of a ProfessionalKiller instead of the love-struck {{Yandere}} she is in canon, which means [[spoiler:she has no qualms about murdering her [[MoralityChain would-be senpai]], and she can't even be bothered to remember his name when confronted about it]].
* AffablyEvil: She's mostly depicted as FauxAffablyEvil, but can be this if you play her a certain way, helping out others, passing out snacks, complimenting her fellow students, and setting her rivals up with other boys.
* AlliterativeName: After months of speculation, her name was revealed to be Ayano Aishi.
* AlmightyJanitor: If she joins the Occult Club, she's this compared to the rest of them. [[spoiler:She's the greenhorn of the group but, unlike the rest of them, she can actually commune with demons.]]
* AlphaBitch: You can choose to give Ayano elements of this, if you [[VillainWithGoodPublicity keep your reputation stat high]] and primarily use the "Gossip" elimination method. A high reputation will make you popular; gossiping fulfills the "bitch" part, as you manipulate the whole school into relentlessly bullying one student, until they drop out of school or [[DrivenToSuicide commit suicide]].
* AlwaysFemale: While some fans have shown interest in [[note]] demanded would be more accurate [[/note]] being able to play as a male yandere, and you can (or will be able to) change Senpai's gender, Yan-chan will likely always be a female according to the developer. (However, after months of pleading from fans, [=YandereDev=] hinted at the possibility of Yandere-''kun'' being a crowdfunding stretch goal, and added a Yan-kun skin in March 2017 just to see if he could do it.)
* AmazonianBeauty: Tying in with raising the Strength stat, a few [[http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/animatedmusclewomen/images/6/6d/StrongYandere.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20160429034253 official]] [[https://66.media.tumblr.com/f7dd000dd0e888599dedd5d667a84bf2/tumblr_o7hidbnw6l1r44mpdo2_1280.png artworks]] portray her as such. Whether it will be a thing in-game, however, remains to be seen.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: There's just something ''off'' about Yan-chan. From her flat affect and lack of empathy; unusual speed, strength, and stamina for such a small girl; to the fact that [[spoiler:she can successfully commune with demons when the regular members of the Occult Club (its leader included) ''can't'']].
* AntiHero: She can be this if the player has her only eliminate her rivals via [[MatchmakerQuest Matchmaking]] or [[YouOweMe Befriending]], and has her do tasks for various students while never hurting anyone. She is still in it for her own selfish motivation, but she isn't doing anything bad, and is in fact helping everyone out a lot.
* AntiVillain: She can be this if the player decides to remove some of her rivals via non-lethal — but cruel — methods such as expulsion or sabotaging their meetings with Senpai, while eliminating others via [[MatchmakerQuest Matchmaking]] or [[YouOweMe Befriending]]. This would make her a non-murderous villain with a few redeeming qualities.
* AuthorAvatar: In some of the earlier developer videos, she serves as [=YandereDev=]'s avatar.
* ArchEnemy: All of the rivals can be considered this to an extent from her point of view, but [[spoiler:Megami]] is the closest Ayano has to a true nemesis, as she [[spoiler:knows her true nature from the start]] and openly declares war on her in her introduction.
* ArtisticLicenseLinguistics: Her nickname of "Yan-chan" doesn't really make sense in Japanese. Because the individual syllables of her name are ''A-ya-no'', the "ya" and "n" sounds are contained in separate syllables. She would be more likely to be called "Ayano-chan" or "Aya-chan."
* AssholeVictim: If Nemesis kills her in Mission Mode.
* AssShove: It's been hinted at by [=YandereDev=] that, [[FullFrontalAssault while naked]], Yan-chan uses her... ''various orifices'' to hide her weapons.
* AxCrazy:
** Depending on the player's choices, she can be this and simply kill everyone, or less so and [[RemovingTheRival dispatch her rivals non-lethally]].
** Her sanity will decrease with each person she kills. At high sanity, she can kill a person quickly and efficiently; at low sanity, she will take longer to kill a victim because [[CruelAndUnusualDeath she is stabbing or bludgeoning them several times]].
** In SNAP mode, she loses any semblance of self-control and becomes capable only of "move toward weapon" and "kill anyone near me". She kills herself at the end.
* TheBadGuyWins: The final game promises several endings covering a spectrum from "Good" to "Bad" both ways, depending on whose perspective you're looking from.
* BadassAdorable: She's pretty cute, despite being an almost-completely-emotionless psychopath.
* BadLiar: If the "Lie" options with the guidance counselor are any indication, Ayano is a downright laughably bad liar and '''none''' of her lies are able to trick the counselor.
-->'''Guidance Counselor:''' If you're going to make up an excuse, you should at least put some effort into it. A child could see through your lies.
* BadPeopleAbuseAnimals:
** If she had a pet cat and found out that Senpai was allergic to cats, she would kill it without hesitation.
** In one of the videos detailing her backstory, she kills a cat just to see if she'll feel guilty or sad about it. She doesn't.
* BareFistedMonk: Joining the Martial Arts club gives her combat training, allowing her to fight people more effectively.
* BatmanGambit: Pulls one on Kokona in "Driving Your Rivals to Murder in Yandere Simulator"; see ToxicFriendInfluence below.
* BerserkButton:
** Don't try to hit on Senpai. If you're lucky, you'll be stabbed in the front and die quickly; if you're luckier, you'll be framed for rules violations and expelled, or have an alternative romantic option metaphorically-yet-forcefully shoved into your face. Everything else she might do to you is… less than pleasant.
** She didn't appreciate Yuno Gasai referring to her as a "novice Yandere" in their Rap Battle.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: The purpose of the game is keeping up the façade of a regular schoolgirl while eliminating your rivals from the shadows.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: Ayano only ever talks to people if she has a good reason to.
* BigBad: Technically, Yan-chan is this game's. The creator once described it as a horror game where ''you'' are the monster. Unless you play her as an AntiHero.
* BigScrewedUpFamily: [[spoiler:Her mother killed at least one person – the so-called Phantom Girl mentioned on the other subpage – back when she was in school, and [[KarmaHoudini got away with it]]. Also, her family has been propagating itself despite being yanderes for generations, implying that they've been poisoning, blackmailing, misdirecting, and murdering countless people in the process.]]
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Can act like an innocent schoolgirl while still being a SerialKiller, or even just a vile bitch without the murder part.
* BlankSlate: She will be customizable and the final game will have different playstyle options. The method of eliminating rivals will determine Yan-chan's personality (and Senpai's psyche and mental state) in the ending.
* {{Bloodlust}}: She has shades of this, at least towards Senpai's blood, which she finds "delicious" after tasting his blood on one of his used band-aids.
* BrainyBrunette: Her hair is black by default (it can be dyed), and she's very resourceful. She can use her studies to learn how to kill her rivals more efficiently, as well as improving her forgery and interpersonal skills. Of course, this all depends on the player.
* BreastExpansion: In the debug builds, Yan-chan's bust size can be adjusted on the fly via < and >, from nearly-nonexistent to massive. This becomes an AscendedMeme in ''VideoGame/CrushCrush'', where her bust size is listed as "Variable".
* BrokenAce: It's totally possible to play her as a [[VillainWithGoodPublicity popular girl]] who is a dedicated member of a school club, athletic enough to fight toe-to-toe with trained martial artists, gets good grades, and [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer is able to easily seduce both men and women]]. That said, no matter how you dispose of the rivals, she'll always be an EmptyShell who stalks the first person who inspired emotions in her. Further, [=YandereDev=] says her amazing abilities are due to her just being ''that'' determined to get Senpai.
* BullyMagnet: When she was younger, she was bullied by other students for being an EmotionlessGirl. She found it inconvenient rather than painful, but realized she would have to act normal if she wanted to be treated normally. She learned to put on a facade of normal emotions in public, which made the bullying stop.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: Shown in the comic [[https://yanderesimulator.com/manga/nemesis.html Retribution]], which takes place in the Mission Mode timeline. [[spoiler:Nemesis/[[CanonCharacterAllAlong Hanako Yamada]] confronts Ayano for murdering Taro Yamada, but despite showing Ayano his picture and identifying him as her first target, Ayano does not recognize him or know his name.]]
* TheCameo: In ''Burning Love''. If Sakura goes to get a teacher instead of picking up the ritual knife, she shows up and says the following:
-->'''Ayano:''' Heh. Right where I left it. I'll take that~ hehe~
* CannotSpitItOut: She's unable to properly confess to Senpai unless all her rivals are permanently out of the way.
* ChildByRape: [[spoiler:Heavily implied, given what's on the Basement Tapes. Basement Tape #1 features her parents back in 1989, with her father tied to a chair and her mother saying she won't let him go until she's sure he won't try to run away and that they'll be together forever. Basement Tape #10 has the two of them in the modern day, with her mom practically dragging her dad with her to the airport so she can track down the old Journalist, who's fled to America. What happened between the two tapes hasn't been revealed yet, but since her father has succumbed to full-on StockholmSyndrome at this point...]]
* ChildhoodFriend: The video about her childhood shows that she is this with Midori Gurin and [[EmotionlessGirl Kuu Dere]] (well, as close as she can get to having friends, anyway), having spent a few years conversing with them and even playing video games together.
* ClingyJealousGirl: As a part of her {{Yandere}} personality, she refuses to share her Senpai with anyone and is intensely jealous of all his admirers.
* ColorMotifs: [=YandereDev=] says her trademark color is black, hence why her default design has black hair, dark gray eyes, and black stockings. Her aura is also black, a trait she shares with Info-chan and her mother in 1980s Mode.
* TheCorrupter:
** She can manipulate people into bullying any student she chooses. If she keeps it up, the bullied student could end up being pushed past the DespairEventHorizon and subsequently committing [[RageBreakingPoint murder]], [[DrivenToSuicide suicide]], or [[BreadEggsBreadedEggs murder-suicide]].
** She can also use her rivals' darkest secrets to manipulate them into murdering their enemies.
* CovertPervert: As seen in [[https://twitter.com/YandereDev/status/643890112892264448 this tweet]] by the dev himself, Yan-chan may wish to go into a boy-only area and look at Senpai.
** She also has a shrine to Senpai in her room, filled with things like his used tissues and discarded apple cores. The crown jewel of her collection is a pair of his boxers. [[NoodleIncident Where she got those]] is never discussed.
* CreepyChild: The various videos that showcase Yan-chan as a little girl display that, before she learned to mimic human emotions, she was very much this.
* CreepyMonotone: If you listen closely, Yan-chan's voice has a flat, almost robotic affect to it most of the time. This is likely because she's an EmotionlessGirl who only recently started experiencing feelings like love and rage. It's even more apparent when contrasted against the far more emotional Kokona or Osana.
* CurbStompBattle:
** She can OneHitKill any student with a hitbox when she's armed, but teachers are the opposite case and ''they'' will curbstomp ''her'', as will high-strength or bereaved students if you don't get your physical stats up. Joining the Martial Arts Club (which currently gives the benefit of automatically winning fights) turns the tables in Yan-chan's favor very quickly.
** Delinquents will curbstomp her even if she ''does'' have max stats, if the player isn't fast enough at the minigame.
** Nemesis is impossible to defeat in direct combat and must be beaten through other means. [[note]]If she's killable at all (you have the option to make her invincible), you must sneak up behind her and stealth-attack her from the back.[[/note]]
** Raibaru will just flat-out '''break Ayano's bones''' if attacked in any way, including from behind, even if Ayano's strength is maxed-out. (In the game files, her strength is set at '''9'''. Budo's strength is ''5''.)
* CuteAndPsycho: Is willing to go extreme lengths for her goal and is adorable.
* CyberNinja: The "Cyborg Mode" transforms Yan-chan into a female {{cyborg}} à la [[VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance Raiden]], as she will don black armor with a neon blue visor, and a long silver ponytail. Also, her running speed is nearly doubled, and she gains an [[CoolSword "Energy Sword"]] that immediately dismembers anybody she attacks, while hard rock music plays in the background.
* DaddysGirl: Downplayed. She isn't particularly affectionate toward her father, but puts in effort to look and act like a normal girl, so he won't have to worry about her not being able to live a normal life. Coming from her, that's as close to a genuine act of love as she can get.
* DarkActionGirl: She's lethal and will go to violent lengths to get rid of rivals for Senpai's affections. [[VideoGameCaringPotential But she doesn't]] have [[HeelFaceTurn to be this way.]]
* DarkIsEvil: Her default design has black hair and black eyes. One of the early concept arts also showed her wearing a black uniform (incidentally, one of the selectable uniform styles – No.5 – is black with red trim). Just ''how'' evil she is is up to the player, as she can be anything from an AntiHero who helps out everyone around the school, compliments others, and gets rid of her rivals by matchmaking them with other boys, to a ManipulativeBitch with a very, ''very'' deeply HiddenHeartOfGold (and even then, only bothering to show it if it comes at her benefit), or a flat-out murderous monster.
* DarkIsNotEvil: If the player desires, they can make her go through the game complimenting others left and right, handing out snacks to others, helping people with tasks, and matchmaking all her rivals with others.
* DartboardOfHate: She does a variation in the "Raising the Strength Stat" video, when she uses a photo of [[TheRival Osana]] as the target on her punching bag.
* DepravedBisexual: Senpai's gender can be a guy or girl and she would do anything to get them, such as manipulation and murder.
* DespairEventHorizon: SNAP mode has her go over this. [[RageQuit She no longer cares about even trying to uphold a civil facade]] and instead goes right to find a knife to murder first Senpai and then herself with. Any student who's dumb enough to stand in her way will be [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown mercilessly beaten to death]].
* {{Determinator}}: The developer cites her peak-human feats as a result of being just ''that'' determined to get Senpai. Depending on how the player handles her jealousy, she could end up killing ten girls (not counting possible NPC collateral damage) within as many weeks just to make sure he's single.
* DisproportionateRetribution: From the second intro, she states she wants to ''kill'' the girl who likes Senpai just because that girl clearly can't appreciate Senpai the way she can.
* DissonantSerenity:
** Can be completely calm even if she is LaughingMad.
** She has an incredibly peaceful expression on her face while she's dismembering a corpse.
* DrivenToSuicide: This is one of the elimination methods (via taking the Bullying elimination too far), but this is also the end goal of SNAP Mode, where after being rejected by Senpai, Ayano will find a weapon and kill her rival, Senpai, and herself.
* DudeMagnet: Portrayed as this in the 2017 April Fools trailer; had everyone been {{Gender Flip}}ped, all the rivals would be after ''her'', in a twisted version of an {{Otome Game}} plot.
* EmotionlessGirl: Growing up, Yan-Chan was unable to feel things like happiness, sadness, anger, or love. She wasn't completely emotionless, with pity towards her father motivating her to act like a normal girl around him, annoyance towards the other students bullying her motivating her to act like a normal girl around other schoolchildren, and frustration at the sense of emptiness was an ever-present aspect of her life, before she met Senpai.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: After helping out [[spoiler:The Horror, she effectively becomes a [[Manga/ElfenLied Diclonius]] (and looks like a [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Dead Hand]])]].
* EmptyEyes: When she loses sanity, [[DullEyesOfUnhappiness her eyes lose their highlights]].
* EmptyShell: The official intro to the game reveals that she's always been like this, and had a very limited range of emotions until she met Senpai. To convey how she can pretend to respond to emotions without actually feeling them, she can change her persona in-game at will, allowing her to blend in with different personalities without affecting her actual reactions to her surroundings.
* EntitledToHaveYou: She believes that Senpai is hers because she wants him more than anyone else and no one can love him like she can.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Part of the reason she pretends to be a normal girl is because the one thing she felt before meeting Senpai is pity for her father, who desperately wants her to have a normal life.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** In the second intro, she outright calls Info-chan disgusting, [[{{Hypocrite}} even though she's a stalker]].
** Based on her tone of voice when you offer to help Kokona with her problems, [[spoiler:she seems pretty disgusted by loan sharks]].
** At the end of her conversation thread with [=Selene2005=], she can respond to their advocation of mass murder to fix the world's problems by telling them that they are an insane psychopath.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: If she maxes out her Seduction stat, she'll be able to seduce girls as well as boys.
* EvilDuo: With Info-chan. She's the muscle of the operations, while Info-chan handles the control and plans.
* EvilerThanThou:
** Mr. Ronshaku is a criminal LoanShark. He's seriously out of his depth once Yan-chan gets involved.
** She's this to the bullies ''and'' the delinquents too, as she is capable of outright murder.
* EvilIsNotPacifist: A potential aversion. It's possible for her to ruin her rivals' lives or even get them killed without once raising a weapon.
* EvilIsPetty: In the "Indestructible Rival" videos, she resorts to nuking the surrounding area and ''blowing up the planet with the Death Star'' in an attempt to get rid of [[MadeOfIndestructium Rival-chan]]. (Suffice to say, it does not work.)
* EvilLaugh: The game has a dedicated button for this. It's actually useful if Yan-chan is visibly insane, as laughing is one way to calm her down. However, people do react to it, so be careful where and when you do it.
* EvilVirtues:
** [=YandereDev=] says that her persona is "Devoted", referencing her undying dedication to Senpai. In this game, though, that isn't a good thing.
** Also, [[{{Determinator}} Determination]]. She'll stop at nothing to make sure Senpai is hers.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: She will adopt a new hairstyle (and become a blonde) if she joins the delinquents.
* FightingSpirit:
** "Bad Romance Mode" gives her a [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure Stand]] by that name, able to take out students with flurries of punches.
** The October 2021 update added a fighting minigame where she has to beat up all of the bullies who are bullying one of the delinquents' brothers.
* FateWorseThanDeath: The dev says this verbatim as something that describes what Yan-chan considers a life without Senpai. Considering her response to being rejected is to kill Senpai and then herself, she's not kidding.
* FauxAffablyEvil: The second intro monologue shows that Yan-chan doesn't feel emotions, and that all interactions she has with other people are a part of keeping up a façade, but she can choose to have opportunities to be genuinely AffablyEvil.
* FemmeFatale: She can up her "seduction" stat by reading erotic manga, which will make boys more "comfortable" around her. [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer Boost it enough times, and it will work on girls too.]]
* FlashStep: Gains this instead of the ability to run if she enters SNAP mode.
* TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou: Not in the game proper, but the "Contact" page on the official website is styled after a VisualNovel conversation with Yan-chan. She's generally polite and courteous throughout… until you click on the option that says you haven't read the relevant page for bug-reporting or volunteering. This will prompt her to remind you ''at knife-point''.
* FreakOut: If you go into SNAP mode, she completely loses any semblance of sanity, and beings lumbering around and slaughtering anyone who's unfortunate enough to get too close.
* FreudianExcuse: Since childhood, Ayano's always been an EmptyShell, being unable to feel things like happiness or anger. And though she wasn't completely emotionless, it still forced her to act like a normal person, yet she remained frustrated at the sense of emptiness in her life, before she met Senpai. [[spoiler:Plus, while her mother remained indifferent to her condition, her father was concerned that she might end up becoming like her {{Yandere}} mother.]]
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Sure, she's a sociopath, but before she met Senpai (Taro), she was perfectly alright with just plodding along, not bothering anyone or doing anything. That all changes one fine day after she meets Senpai, and it's all downhill from there; she can do anything from blackmail to murder to torture-into-insanity.
* GamerChick: Played with. Yan-chan has a [=SaikoStation4=] game console in her room, and the player can play games on it at night time. However, [=YandereDev=] has said that Yan-chan's ''real'' hobby is "pretending to be normal"; she only has any kind of interest in games because it's something normal children do. To emphasize this, the video [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydIf-EAmn0c&t=122s detailing her childhood]] has a quick shot of her playing a game with a younger Midori and Kuu, as the narration reminds us she's still emotionless. That said, the player can choose to invoke this by joining the Gaming Club, which gives her the ability to temporarily boost a stat. Even then, she's still trying to be normal and only using the Club to her advantage. While Yan-chan may have only taken up gaming to act like a normal girl, if she (i.e., the player) manages to beat the Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki game, it is pretty firmly established that she is ''really good'' at them.
* GenerationXerox: Zigzagged. Ayano looks a ''lot'' like her mother, to the point where the headmaster initially mistakes her for Ryoba before realizing that she's Ryoba's daughter. Also, [[spoiler:being a yandere [[ItRunsInTheFamily runs in the family]]; her mom was a yandere, as was her grandmother, and [=YandereDev=] implies that each generation of the Aishi family has consisted of a yandere girl and her unfortunate soulmate]]. The main differences are that [[spoiler:Ayano's mom Ryoba is canonically a killer, whilst Ayano can choose not to go to that level. Also, Ayano can pursue a female senpai]].
* GoodAllAlong: One of two speculated endings for the matchmaker route. Yan-chan might prove to be more human than even she realizes.
* GoodCounterpart: If Yan-Chan decides to go full pacifist and completes the game without killing anyone(or even without torturing anyone, if possible) and only relies on cunning and wits to win Senpai’s heart, this would by default make her this to [[spoiler:her mother, who resorted to killing and torturing a lot of people to get ''her'' senpai, Yan-Chan’s father]].
* GreenEyedMonster: She is intensely jealous of anyone who might take her precious Senpai away from her. Emphasis on the "Monster" part.
* GoalInLife: Eliminate (by lethal or nonlethal means) every other girl who has her eye on her beloved Senpai, then win his heart and live together with him happily ever after.
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: You can give her these. They serve a gameplay purpose (specifically, wearing them lessens reputation penalties).
* {{Hammerspace}}: How and where is she able to hide two weapons while completely naked? One (possibly joking) explanation is that she places them in her… [[AssShove special areas]].
* HearingVoices: Not normally, but at the end of SNAP Mode, when she's about to kill herself, she'll hear voices chanting 'do it' over and over.
* HeartbrokenBadass: If you get the Heartbroken game over (when Senpai sees you doing something suspicious and tells you off), you have the choice to enter SNAP Mode, where Yan-chan goes full horror movie monster and is capable of killing students with her bare hands (even normally invincible ones like Raibaru) in pursuit of killing Senpai and then herself.
* HeelFaceTurn: Despite being an AxCrazy {{Yandere}}, she can go through this if she chooses to get her LoveInterest and remove her rivals in the [[TheMatchmaker most humane]] way [[ThouShallNotKill possible]].
* HiddenBadass: Ayano was specifically designed to appear as plain as possible, and the creator has stated that she blended in so well that no one really noticed her during her freshman year, except possibly Oka Ruto.
* HoistByHerOwnPetard: Ayano can screw herself out of getting a chance to be with her Senpai by killing 50 students, ensuring that the school shuts down and he moves to a new school far away where another girl will win his heart.
* HollywoodThin: According to [=YandereDev=], she is 165cm tall and weighs 43kg (that's 5'4" and 96lbs in US/Imperial measure). Realistically, that is ''incredibly'' underweight. Anticipating pushback, he then hung a lampshade on it by saying:
-->''"Remember, anime girl weights are different from real-life."''
* HumanoidAbomination: Ayano can become one via the transformations from the DemonicPossession route, though [[AmbiguouslyHuman there's something inherently off about her to begin with]].
* HumanityIsInfectious: ''Deconstructed''. Ayano was content with living life like a drone, not bothering anyone and minding her own business. It's only when she met her senpai that she started changing her behavior. She became addicted to the feeling of being in love and she will not let anyone get between her and Senpai.
* {{Hypocrite}}: She calls Info-Chan "disgusting" even though she herself stalks Senpai. Info-Chan calls her out on this.
* IfICantHaveYou: As she prepares to kill Senpai in SNAP mode, she will say this word for word before stabbing him.
-->'''"…no-one can."'''
* IJustWantToBeNormal: A zigzagged example, as she started pretending to be normal more out of pity for her father than herself. However, as she got older, she started to resent her condition and was willing to do anything to experience life like a normal person.
-->''"He wanted a normal child more than anything in the world. He tried everything to make me happy, but… nothing worked. I never felt happy, but I did feel… pity. I felt pity for this sad man. I did not want my father to worry anymore. And so… I began to act like the other children. I pretended to be normal. My father was happy, we finally became a normal family."''
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Equally good with a range of weapons, including katanas, screwdrivers, and syringes.
* InLoveWithLove: Ayano says in the second intro that she's addicted to the way Senpai makes her feel. She never says that she actually loves his personality or truly cares about him, although it's possible for this to change if she goes pacifist and romances him the normal way.
* InsecureLoveInterest: To Senpai. She just CannotSpitItOut to Senpai if there's someone else in the way.
* InSeriesNickname: Yan-chan. Short for Ayano InUniverse; short for that or Yandere-chan to players.
* InstantExpert: If she joins the Martial Arts Club, she'll be able to overpower any (killable) NPC she struggles with, even other members of the club who have been training for longer than her.
* InterpretativeCharacter: Depending on how she's played, she can be an AntiHero who does favors for the other students, compliments others, and deals with al her rivals by matchmaking or befriending them and never does anything bad, an AntiVillain who matchmakes or befriends some rivals and is AffablyEvil toward the other students while eliminating other rivals through methods such as sabotage or gossip, a two faced bitch who eliminates all her rivals by the latter methods but doesn't kill anyone, or a complete psychopath who murders people.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: [[spoiler:Her mother was also a Yandere who murdered a student for love, and a secret tape states that her grandmother was the same. [=YandereDev=] says that it goes back many generations.]]
* IntercontinuityCrossover: With [=YandereDev=]'s permission, Ayano was added to ''VideoGame/CrushCrush'' as a love interest, though she's aged up a year to 18. About a year later, a secret talisman was added to ''[=YanSim=]'' that would transform Ayano('s texture) into one of several ''Crush Crush'' characters.
* InvincibleVillain: In SNAP mode, she becomes an unstoppable force of nature. Even ''[[InvincibleHero Raibaru]]'' is absolutely no match for her in this state.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Ayano believes that she's the only one who deserves to be with Senpai. After all, no other girl could appreciate him the way she does. She has no interest in other people's lives unless they serve some purpose to her.
* JapaneseDelinquent: If her reputation is low enough, she might be able to associate with the other delinquents at school and get them to help her. If her reputation is moderate or high, they won't talk to her.
* KarmaHoudini: She can get away with murders with ease. Just leave the bodies alone and get rid of your bloody clothes and weapon by putting them in the incinerator and activating it. If there's no evidence to connect you to the crime, you get off scot-free.
* KarmicDeath: ''[[ImpliedTrope Heavily Implied]],'' but should Ayano kill Senpai's childhood friend and sister, Senpai will be DrivenToMurder and kill Ayano ''himself'' in {{Revenge}}.
* KickTheDog:
** [=YandereDev=] has said the only reason why he would consider putting a pet in the game is to show Yan-chan killing them if she felt they got in the way of her and Senpai. He later [[https://yanderedev.wordpress.com/2015/12/23/short-comic/ posted a comic]] made by a fan which shows exactly that.
** In July 2016, upon implementing the bury-a-body-in-the-garden mechanic, he teased the idea of throwing police dogs off the trail by having Yan-chan murder a small animal (probably a kitten) and burying them above the corpse, so the cops would give up the search upon finding them. However, he backed off of this idea a few days later when he realized that police dogs are trained to ignore false positives like that.
** The [[https://youtu.be/ydIf-EAmn0c Yandere-chan's Childhood]] video of July 2017 shows a tweenage Yan-chan playing with a cute kitten, gently picking them up, and then, in an effort to feel ''something'', [[spoiler:slamming them into the ground and killing them. Needless to say, it didn't work]].
** In the "Epic Rap Battles of Akademi" videos made by her voice actress, she has a tendency to go for low blows. When Osana calls her a "weirdo and a freak", Ayano responds that she doesn't think Senpai would complain [[InsultBackfire "once he gets me in the sheets"]]. Then, when Osana attacks her for that, she seems to relish the idea of beating her. In the one against [[Manga/FutureDiary Yuno Gasai]], Ayano openly makes fun of her FreudianExcuse, starting with [[spoiler:"At least my parents still love me!"]]
* KillItWithFire: Ayano can douse a rival with gasoline and then throw a match at her, immolating her. She can also "accidentally" drop a candle as the student runs towards her, and the result is [[ManOnFire predictable]].
* LackOfEmpathy:
** She admits that she was unable to feel anything for anyone until she met Senpai. How bad it is exactly depends on the actions she partakes in. Even for Senpai himself, she has no empathy. It doesn't matter how traumatized and heartbroken he is as long as she can have him.
** In-game, she has a Numbness stat that makes her lose less sanity when she kills someone. The player can increase her Numbness by reading a horror manga called ''Yokai Story.''
* LaserGuidedKarma: It has been heavily implied that if Senpai finds out that you're the one who killed his childhood friend and beloved little sister, you're going to regret it… all the way to the ''grave''.
* LateForSchool: Being tardy will affect Yan-chan's Study Points. The tardier she is to class, the more the available study points will decrease, progressively dropping from five (on-time) to a minimum of one. Doing certain activities (like torturing a prisoner) will make her arrive at school an hour later than normal, which isn't technically late, but you pretty much have to go straight to class. However, if she joins the Student Council, she can come in late up to half an hour.
* LaughablyEvil: She has her moments, like in the "Raising the Strength Stat" video when she gleefully murders Kokona and prepares to dispose of her, only for her to be so physically weak that it takes her ''nine hours'' to drag her corpse halfway to the incinerator.
* LaughingMad: Can do this if you press the laugh button [[note]](Ctrl on keyboard or RB on controller)[[/note]] repeatedly. It calms her down. However, doing so in front of her classmates sullies her reputation. Doing it in front of a teacher gets you sent to the Guidance Counselor, and doing it in front of Senpai is an automatic GameOver.
* LeadYouCanRelateTo: The dev wanted her to be this. She is thus an empty, emotionless shell so that people can be in her shoes.
* LightIsNotGood: If you don't play her as an AntiHero. Her default school uniform is white. So are her panties.
* LikeMotherLikeDaughter: [[spoiler:Her mother was a yandere, and she can invoke this if she opts for killing all rivals.]]
* LikeMotherUnlikeDaughter: [[spoiler:She can also be unlike her mother if she goes matchmaker. How Ryoba will react to this remains unknown, but it's very likely that she won't take lightly to this.]]
* LimpAndLivid: When her sanity is low, she slouches menacingly. She also does this in SNAP mode.
* LoveInterest: To Senpai. Not that he knows it. Yet.
* LoveMakesYouCrazy: Well… not that she was really mentally sane to begin with.
* LoveMakesYouEvil: Her personality type is stated to be "Devoted", which is exclusive to ruthless {{Yandere}} people like her [[spoiler:and her mother]].
* MadeOfIron: Downplayed. Trying to drink from an electrified drinking fountain will kill any other student, but Yan-chan will "only" be put into a coma. This is a cold comfort for the player, who is still penalized with a GameOver.
* MalevolentMaskedWoman: If she joins the drama club, she can hide her face behind one of their theater masks. It has the practical effect of concealing her identity when she commits murder and the cosmetic effect of [[RuleOfScary making her look really scary]], but ItOnlyWorksOnce since the headmaster will ban them afterwards.
* ManipulativeBitch: Her social skills will make it easier for her to get people to help her; she can change her persona at will to let her associate better with different crowds. Also, she can set up her rivals and other people up so that she can have Senpai all to herself without shedding any blood or manipulate the rivals into committing murder themselves, thus getting them arrested and away from Senpai.
* MaskOfSanity: [=YandereDev=] says that the phrase "Sanity" is somewhat of an inaccurate term for that mechanic, as Yan-chan has more than a few screws loose regardless. Instead, it tracks how obvious her true nature is to onlookers. If it's high, she'll be able to interact normally with her classmates. However, if it's too low, the mask slips and people will be able to notice that there's something off about her. SNAP Mode has her drop the mask completely.
* TheMatchmaker: The player can "eliminate" rivals by having Ayano set them up with boys who are not Senpai.
* MeaningfulName: The [[BrandX Fakebook]] page for Akademi reveals her full name is Ayano Aishi. "Aishi", appropriately enough, is a mixture of "love" and "death". Additionally, the developer wanted a name with a "Yan" sound.
* ModestyShorts: She can wear spats to make her run faster. The game puts a lampshade on the modesty part by saying that if a woman only wears spats under her skirt, it still counts as a PantyShot to look at them, and wondering if they are for sporty girls or exhibitionists.
* MommysLittleVillain: [[spoiler:Her crazy mother is hoping for her to follow in her footsteps.]] Whether she does so is up to you.
* MoralSociopathy: If you choose to eliminate all your rivals peacefully, Ayano adheres to this trope, especially if you go the befriending or matchmaking route. Setting someone up with a boy they like, or helping them solve a huge crisis in their personal life, is a good deed, no question — even if Ayano is an EmptyShell who's only doing it so her rivals won't steal Senpai from her.
* MultipleEndings: While Ayano doesn't have a MultipleChoicePast, and the [[StoryBranching branching]] within gameplay is minimal at best, the final game is set to take into account a number of factors – including but not limited to how she takes out her victims – which all affect what kind of person she becomes in the end, and how Senpai reacts to her.
* MurderMakesYouCrazy: Her sanity will be whittled if she directly kills multiple people.
* MurderSuicide: Her objective in SNAP mode is to grab a knife, kill Senpai, and kill herself.
* MurderTheHypotenuse: You can do this to get rid of rivals.
* NeckSnap: [[spoiler:She delivers one to anyone and everyone that you make her kill while she's in SNAP mode.]]
* NiceGirl: Zigzagged. Unless you have her go the AntiHero route of helping everyone out, complimenting others, matchmaking her rivals, and not hurting anyone, she can't ''actually'' be nice – she lacks empathy along with most emotions, so she's a ManipulativeBitch at best – but she can fake it pretty well if she wants and ''act'' like a decent person. If the player goes through the game taking out rivals solely via matchmaking, and has her do tasks for other students while not using them as pawns later on, then she'll be this.
* NobleDemon: Yandere-Dev insists that Yandere-chan is a monster through and through. Human emotions are completely alien to her and she's descended from a line of yanderes who are identically unemotional and amoral. She's raised to be absolutely ruthless in her pursuit of her perceived soulmate. That being said, how evil Yandere-chan is is up to player decisions. It should be noted that she's doing this for pragmatic reasons and not out of the goodness of her heart.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Having her SNAP after a game over through Senpai will make her go off the rails completely and beating the ever-loving hell out of any student who's unfortunate enough to be in her way without even flinching.
* NoNameGiven: For the first 18 months of development, she had no real name other than "Yandere-chan", which was more of a placeholder than anything. In October 2015, [=YandereDev=] showed her name is Ayano Aishi in a stealth reveal[[note]](specifically, her real name first appeared on Akademi's Fakebook page; so did Senpai's {Taro Yamada})[[/note]]. He still refers to her as Yandere-chan out of habit much of the time, although fans increasingly use her actual name.
* NonconformistDyedHair: If she wants to join the delinquents' gang, one of the requirements is to dye her hair blond.
* NonIndicativeName: [=YandereDev=] has stated that, despite her nickname, Ayano may not ''technically'' qualify as a yandere, depending on whether one uses the original definition of a person who is outwardly sweet towards others but murderously obsessed with their love interest, or the later, broader definition of someone who is just murderously obsessed with their love interest… although she '''''is''''' murderously obsessed with her love interest.
* NoSocialSkills: At the start of the game, she knows how to pretend to be normal, but has little to no idea how to make friends or sustain conversations with other people.
* NotSoStoic: During "A Childhood Lesson", although she was an EmotionlessGirl even back then, little Ayano looks frightened when her mother accidentally cuts her finger while cooking dinner.
* OddNameOut: [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/72uq67/some_questions/dnlf9m6/ [=YandereDev=] says]] that Aishis are [[FamilyThemeNaming named after blades]] (i.e. Ayano's mother, who's named after a type of saw), but Ayano means 'Color, design', and was simply chosen because it had the 'yan' syllable in it.
* OhCrap: When caught by Senpai doing something wrong and it results in a GameOver, or if she sees one of her rivals successfully confess their love to Senpai under the cherry blossom tree on Friday.
-->''"…n…n-no…w-wait…"''
* OneWomanArmy: If she loses out on Senpai and chooses to SNAP, she devolves into a completely manic state in which ''anyone'', even normally {{Invincible Hero}}es like Raibaru or the teachers, will be made into thin red paste upon confronting her.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Was this before she met Senpai… ish. Can still be this if you don't do anything extreme. However, the dev has said that because of her EmptyShell status, pretending to be one is the closest thing she has to a hobby.
* OutsideGenreFoe: Ayano has no more relation to Senpai's life or similarities to his [[DatingSim fluffy]], larger-than-life suitors than would a bear tearing through campus. She just ''is'', even though she shouldn't be.
* PaperThinDisguise: Inverted. Despite her box disguise not making it blatantly obvious who she is, The Headmaster can still see that it's her and tells her that she can't fool anyone with it.
* PerpetualFrowner: She almost always has a neutral expression on her face.
* PetTheDog:
** It is possible for her to do nice things for her fellow students. She can even set her rivals up with a boy who likes them (and is '''''not''''' Senpai).
** In the debug builds, [[spoiler:she can help get Kokona's father out of debt… by kidnapping the Loan Shark's daughter and holding her for ransom, of course to get him to forgive ''all'' his clients' debts. Kokona is so thankful for this that she willingly stops her pursuit of Senpai (if you don't "eliminate" her during the cutscene)]].
** She feels pity towards her father and makes efforts to look like a normal girl around him for his sake. It's probably one of the most selfless things she ever did in her life.
* PlayingCyrano: The Matchmaking elimination method involves her telling a rival's suitor what to do through an earpiece.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Since Senpai will accept ''any'' love confession he gets if you don't sabotage it (and it takes a ''lot'' of effort to make a girl so undesirable that he'll reject her outright), and is willing to date a {{Tsundere}}, a known delinquent, ''and'' a ''teacher''… one gets the distinct impression that a lot of trouble could be avoided if Ayano would just ''ask him on a date''. But of course, doing so would make the entire plot pointless.
* ThePowerOfLove: [=YandereDev=] says that the reason she's such a juggernaut in her pursuit of Senpai is because {{Yandere}} girls like her are just ''that'' driven to get the one they "love", which is why she can exert so much strength.
* PragmaticVillainy:
** The other speculated ending to the Matchmaker route, rather than finding her inner humanity, has Yan-chan just finding murder, kidnapping, and bullying to be too messy and impractical.
** Her MaskOfSanity was this growing up. Even though she's still an EmptyShell, putting on the mask allows her to get through the day without being bullied or upsetting the adults around her.
** Several of the non-lethal ways of eliminating Yan-chan's rivals have her helping them with their problems. This isn't out of the goodness of her heart; it's either to get them to lower their guard ''or'' to drop their pursuit of Senpai by hooking them up with someone else.
** Kidnapping Musume Ronshaku, and using her to convince her father to cancel all debts during [[spoiler:Kokona's friendship quest]], involves Yan-chan telling Mr. Ronshaku to cancel the debts of everyone he's loaned to in exchange for his daughter back. On top of the spoilered reason this was done for pragmatism's sake, having him cancel all debts, as at least one comment pointed out, makes it significantly harder, if not impossible, for Ronshaku to seek revenge (since he could potentially trace a specific debt cancellation to Yan-chan, if she were specific about who's debt she wants to cancel).
%%** One of her possible allies is a Yakuza she can call on for ill deeds. One proposed way she can earn favors with him is to put his delinquent brother on the proper path, acting as a therapist that convinces him to not follow in his brother's footsteps.
* ProfessionalKiller: In the alt-universe of Mission Mode, she's one of these instead of a yandere.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: Earlier in development, she wore pantyhose. It was later switched to ZettaiRyouiki. The reason for that is that in the final game she'll conceal small weapons under her skirt, tucked under the side of the panties. Some of the Easter-Eggs still wear pantyhose, though.
* PsychoKnifeNut: While in-game she can use a variety of weapons, promotional materials typically depict her with a knife, matching her {{Yandere}} personality.
* PsychoLesbian: Ayano definitely qualifies as one, assuming that Senpai is made female in the character creation.
* PsychoticSmirk: She flashes an unsettling grin when she flicks a lit match onto some poor gasoline-soaked sucker, which could only be done in old debug builds.
* PunnyName: [=YandereDev=] stated that he wanted a name that allowed her InSeriesNickname to be Yan-chan, an abbreviation of Yandere-chan – offering Ayana, Ayano, and Ayane as possibilities. He settled on Ayano.
* TheQuietOne: Plot-wise, Yan-chan rarely talks to anyone unless necessary.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Her eyes turn red when she activates Yandere-Vision.
* RemovingTheRival: Her goal in the game. She can get rid of rivals in multiple ways: hooking them up with other people, sabotaging their interactions with Senpai, having them bullied until they stay home ([[DrivenToSuicide or hang themselves]]), kidnapping them, or just outright [[MurderTheHypotenuse killing them]] in one of myriad ways.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: In SNAP mode, she begins slaughtering everyone who ruined her chances of being with Senpai, culminating in Senpai himself.
* {{Sadist}}: She's depicted as this in the ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTKV91mDc7c It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Murder]]'' christmas video. [[CurbStompBattle After having effortlessly killed]] all of the rivals [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg and Kokona]], she corners a terrified Raibaru and [[DissonantSerenity calmly walks up to her with an innocent smile]] before whipping out her knife [[SlasherSmile with a demented grin]] to go in for the kill.
* SailorFuku: Her default look, which, as was pointed out to [=YanDev=] early in development by someone who had taught in Japan, is actually a ''middle school'' uniform rather than a high school one.
* SanityHasAdvantages: She needs to cool off after commiting murder, because as her sanity degrades she becomes floridly psychotic, starts suffering from visual hallucinations, loses all semblance of impulse control, and becomes even more violent than usual, which is a recipe for disaster.
* SanityMeter: She has one. It decreases when she commits violent acts, and having low sanity has various negative effects; her murder animations become longer and more violent, she starts hallucinating various brutal deaths for her rival, she begins seeing everyone other than Senpai as faceless black masses, and she will uncontrollably attack anything that gets too close. If someone sees her looking visibly insane, she loses reputation, while if Senpai sees her looking insane, it's GameOver. You can restore sanity by [[EvilLaugh laughing evilly]] or "using" pictures of Senpai, but people do react to her laughter, so she has to be careful where she does it. Technically, Yandere-Chan is already insane, but this meter represents her ability to keep up her mask.
* SanitySlippage: Killing others will decrease her sanity. Her heart rate speeds up, her pupils disappear, her face becomes shaded in grey, and at extremely low sanity, she starts to hallucinate. She can restore her SanityMeter by [[EvilLaugh laughing evilly]] or "using" pictures of Senpai. During her VillainousBreakdown in SNAP mode, she permanently loses her sanity and [[MurderSuicide decides to find a knife to kill Senpai with before killing herself. Along the way, she'll even automatically kill any nearby students due to her lacking self-control]].
* {{Sarashi}}: When wearing the Martial Arts Club uniform, the front of Yan-chan's ''gi'' is open enough to reveal that she's wearing chest wraps underneath.
* SerialKiller: She can be this, and the earliest mechanics added into the game were geared to it.
* ShipperOnDeck: Her most humane elimination method is being an active version of this; playing matchmaker to get each rival together with an alternate LoveInterest.
* ShipperWithAnAgenda: Since she's hooking up her rivals with other boys so she can have Senpai all her to herself.
* ShrinkingViolet: Despite her resourcefulness and murderous intent, she experiences crippling shyness around Senpai. She seems to be fine around other people, though.
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: One of the hairstyles you can give her [[ReiAyanamiExpy is based off of Rei Ayanami]].
* SignificantBirthDate: The dev has said that he would like her birthday to be April 1st. Aside from [[AprilFoolsDay the obvious]], it's also the day he first proposed the ''[=YanSim=]'' concept to /v/ in 2014 (he began development the next day after positive feedback, and [[https://youtu.be/ogQTuVJOpCg his first Youtube video]] came out two days after that). [[labelnote:Fun fact!]]Due to the way Japanese school years and cut-off dates work, this would make Ayano the oldest member of her class.[[/labelnote]]
* SignificantDoubleCasting: Shares a voice actress with her mother, Ryoba. [[labelnote:Why is it significant?]]The {{Yandere}} trait is [[ItRunsInTheFamily familial]].[[/labelnote]]
* SingleTargetSexuality: Ayano is an extreme example. She only has eyes for Senpai. It doesn't matter how many other {{nice guy}}s she meets, or what Senpai's sex, sexuality, or gender actually '''''is'''''. According to the second intro, she felt few emotions, positive or negative, until she met Senpai.
* SingleGirlSeeksMostPopularGuy: With ten[[labelnote:†]](eleven if you also count Yan-chan herself)[[/labelnote]] different girls making a move on him during the course of ten weeks, you can't dispute that Senpai ''is'' pretty popular.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Senpai comes off as a really sweet guy, overall — it's actually totally understandable that so many girls are into him. The poor guy just has the bad luck of having also caught Yan-chan's eye.
* SlasherSmile: If she successfully gets Senpai to reject a love confession or manages to conceal her evidence in a crime, she will sport one of these.
* SmittenTeenageGirl: With Senpai.
* TheSociopath: She lacks empathy for others and is capable of doing ''anything'' to get with Senpai, from spreading rumors about others to outright killing them. She admits herself that she feels very little emotion and doesn't relate well to anyone in the school, not even knowing her beloved Senpai as a person. This can ultimately be played straight or averted, however, based on how you play her to the end – she has the option of being completely peaceful, and this is said by [=YandereDev=] to affect the ending.
* SoullessBedroom: Ayano's bedroom is plainly furnished and doesn't have much in it besides a StalkerShrine to Senpai. She has some manga volumes, a computer, and a video game console, but they're less for her personal enjoyment and more for teaching herself how to act like a normal person -- for example, reading the horror manga ''Yokai Story'' will cause her to lose less sanity after committing murder, while reading the romance manga ''Cherry Touch'' will teach her to be more seductive and manipulative.
* StalkerShrine: She has one in her room. The developer has hinted there might be optional side-quests to obtain items for said shrine.
* StalkerWithACrush: For her beloved Senpai.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: For her rivals. She can eavesdrop on people's conversations and learn more about them.
* StalkingIsFunnyIfItIsFemaleAfterMale: [=YanDev=] has explicitly stated that he finds the idea of a male yandere character unappealing. Downplayed in that the game and development videos make it clear that she's still a monster whose behavior should always be taken (relatively) seriously.
* StepfordSmiler: The official intro reveals that she has always been an EmptyShell. It wasn't until she met Senpai that she felt love, and Osana when she felt rage. She can still act like a friendly teenage girl around her classmates [[CuteAndPsycho while actually being a ruthless murderer]]. [=YandereDev=] also says that the closest thing she has to an actual hobby is pretending to be a normal girl. [[https://youtu.be/ydIf-EAmn0c The video about her childhood]] reveals that she's pretended to have emotions [[CreepyChild ever since she was a kid]] because she pitied her father and found being bullied due to her "weirdness" inconvenient.
* TheStoic: She is noted to be unable to feel unless Senpai is involved.
* SuperiorSuccessor: Ryoba only has one known victim (canonically ''five''). In the final game, Ayano could have anywhere from none to nearly a hundred.
* TamperingWithFoodAndDrink: She can do this to accomplish several objectives, such as making a rival look like a LethalChef or killing them.
* TastesLikeFriendship: If she joins the Cooking Club, she can prepare snacks to hand out to other students, giving her a friendly reputation.
* TaughtByExperience: She's an EmptyShell that has no emotions as we know them. Thus, by necessity, she became a skilled actress in order to better blend in with normal people.
* TeensAreMonsters: Stalking, violence, deceit, and murder are all perfectly okay to her. The developer has outright called her a monster on more than one occasion.
* TerseTalker: Her sentences tend to be brief, blunt, and to the point (unless she's talking about Senpai). This is shown best in the debug builds in her living room conversation with Kokona.
-->'''Kokona:''' You have a nice place, Yan-chan!\
'''Yan-chan:''' Thanks.\
'''Kokona:''' Where are your parents?\
'''Yan-chan:''' Overseas.\
'''Kokona:''' So you take care of yourself? That must be hard.\
'''Yan-chan:''' I manage.
* ThereAreNoTherapists:
** Surprisingly (considering [[UsefulNotes/{{Japan}} the setting]]) averted with Ayano's own backstory. Mr Aishi noticed early on that there was something wrong with his daughter and tried to get help for her… he was obviously unsettled by her [[EmotionlessGirl personality]], [[spoiler:as well as knowing firsthand the true nature of Aishi women]]. However, his efforts failed, and Ayano's own experiences taught her the value of [[MaskOfSanity appearing normal]].
** Played straight in the game proper, given some of the ways Yan-chan can destroy her rivals (and Senpai). Justified considering it's Japan, which infamously lags behind the rest of the developed world when it comes to treating mental health.
* TheyLookJustLikeEveryoneElse: By appearance, she's a normal high school girl. Under the surface, however…
* ThroughTheEyesOfMadness: If she loses enough sanity, all students will start to look faceless and generic from her point of view, and the world will grow colorless and dark. If she loses all her sanity, all students will look identical to her, and she will begin to hallucinate.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: In "Driving Your Rivals To Murder in Yandere Simulator", she does just that, persuading Kokona to harm Musume in the name of freeing Kokona's father from debt. Kokona is uneasy, even though she doesn't like Musume, but Ayano makes the whole plan sound so ''reasonable'' and, at worst, NecessarilyEvil. After that, it's just a matter of time before Kokona snaps and kills Musume.
* TranquilFury: When she is angry she almost never raises her voice. Even in SNAP mode she kills several people with a dull look on her face.
* TrouserSpace: [=YandereDev=] says that she hides the smaller weapons (such as knives) in the lining of her skirt. This is supported by the Promo Concept video, where she pulls out a knife from her skirt's waistband, and the Website/YouTube video that presented the updated inventory design.
* TwitchyEye: If her sanity is low enough, she'll start to twitch a lot.
* {{Underboobs}}: You can see hers when you go into Venom Snake mode.
* UnknownRival: Is this (as far as we know) to nine of ten rivals. The notable exception is the StudentCouncilPresident, who appears to already know about her.
* TheUnfettered: As the protagonist and playable character, the only fetters she has are the ones a player chooses for her. There's nothing she won't do in order to keep other girls away from her precious Senpai -- murder, torture, kidnapping, blackmail, and the works are all fair game as long as she gets the job done. However, peaceful methods such as matchmaking are also on the table for her, as long as they get the desired results.
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: If you get her into a [[BullyingADragon "fight"]] with a teacher or Heroic student without upgrading her Physical Education stat enough first.
* VillainHasAPoint:
** Example from the [[https://youtu.be/908F0cP0j4c "Driving Your Rival To Murder" video]] – Ayano may have been saying what she did to manipulate [[DaddysGirl Kokona]], but she's not wrong when she points out that [[SpoiledBrat Musume]] gets everything she wants because her LoanShark father buys it for her with the money he extorted from Kokona's father, and she continues to be an UngratefulBastard despite this.
** In her Rap video against Osana, she isn't wrong when she criticises Osana and points out she certainly doesn't act like she loves Senpai and continuously insults and berates him. Of course, what Yandere-chan does in Senpai's name is much worse, but the point still stands.
* VillainProtagonist: Fans of the game may like her but, no matter what, she's still a bad person because she's trying to ruin Senpai's love life for her own desires, to say nothing of the lives of the ten girls who get in her way (or any {{ordinary high school student}}s in the wrong place at the wrong time). The developer himself put it best…
-->"Remember. Yandere-chan is ''not'' a good person. She's a monster."
: Of course, just ''how'' much of a villain she is is up to the player. While she will always hurt the people around her no matter what, it's entirely possible to do a PacifistRun, in which case she is just a ManipulativeBitch with a few ([[DownplayedTrope downplayed]]) redeeming qualities, and not a full-on mass-murderer. One can even make her an AntiHero if they have her remove her rivals via matchmaking and befriending.
* VillainSong: [=YandereDev=] has released multiple parodies of Christmas carols performed in-character by her voice actress, including "Yandere-chan Is Coming To Town", "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Murder", and "Senpai Love Me".
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: If you keep her reputation up. This can be done by abiding by school rules, complimenting other students, doing favors for them, and maxing out Ayano's seduction level. If her reputation is impeccable enough by the tenth week, even Megami may wonder if her own suspicions about Ayano were wrong. Plus, joining the Student Council enables Ayano to ask favors without befriending and be less suspicious.
* VillainousBreakdown: Although she doesn't experience emotions normally, she's clearly horrified if she doesn't get to confess her love to Senpai and in several other {{Game Over}}s. In fact, you can cause this in any "Heartbroken" GameOver screen instead of restarting with the "SNAP" option, which causes Ayano to [[SanitySlippage permanently lose it]] and [[MurderSuicide go on one last rampage before killing Senpai and herself]].
* VocalDissonance: Her laugh is much higher pitched than her talking voice.
* WideEyesAndShrunkenIrises:
** Has these for most of the bad ending cutscenes.
** Previously, it happened when she lost sanity, but that was later replaced with her pupils going dull.
* WouldHurtAChild: If you end up going down the "kill everyone" route with Senpai's cute younger sister, Yan-chan is almost certainly going to end up doing this. Well, "child" is a relative term in this case, since Hanako-chan is a freshman (that's 10th grade in Japan), only two years younger than Senpai.
* {{Yandere}}: Zigzagged. On the one hand, Ayano is one for Senpai, having the unhealthy and violent obsession for him down pat, and is completely unfazed at the prospect of having to MurderTheHypotenuse so that no one will steal him away from her. On the other hand, Ayano distinctly lacks the typical sweet, cutesy personality that often serves as a yandere's mask, and is specifically noted in-universe to be an EmotionlessGirl when not around Senpai. [=YanDev=] has admitted that he was never concerned with "fulfilling a checklist" (name-dropping Website/TVTropes itself in the process), however, and the players themselves can personally defy this trope by doing a pacifist run, where they get rid of the rivals by [[MatchMakerQuest matching them with someone else]], [[VideoGameCaringPotential or maintaining a healthy friendship with them and simply asking them to stop their advances on Senpai, instead of the usual shtick]].

Senpai is a regular senior-year student at Akademi High who inadvertently becomes the target of affection for Ayano-chan and nine other females at the school[[note]](his little sister Hanako, while still a rival, has a completely different motive)[[/note]]. He ([[PurelyAestheticGender or she, eventually]]) has a "Loner" personality and is in Class 3-2.
-----
* AmbiguouslyBi: An interesting meta example with the ambiguity coming from whether Ayato - Ayano’s potential male form - will ever be included in the game beyond an EasterEgg. If he is, then Senpai’s sexuality would change to accommodate this in both their male and female forms. Taro going from a straight man to a bisexual one, and Taeko changing from a LipstickLesbian into a bisexual woman.
* AuthorAvatar: In Fall 2015, became one of [=YandereDev=] for a while (replacing Ayano), until Dev got his own unique avatar that looked somewhat different from Senpai several months later.
* BerserkButton: He finds people who commit crimes while wearing masks to be especially cowardly, and will attempt to rip your mask off if you kill someone in front of him wearing a mask, even at the expense of his own safety.
* BetterWithNonHumanCompany: Downplayed. He prefers nature, classical music, and a good book to spending time with other people. That said, while he's introverted, he's a NiceGuy who happens to become a ChickMagnet over the course of the game.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: [=YandereDev=] states if he's pushed too far and he finds out that Yan-chan was the cause of all his torment, it doesn't end well… as we see Senpai grab a knife.
--> Yandere Dev: I wonder, what if Senpai was driven to the very edge of sanity, and then he learnt that you were the one that forced him to watch his sister die… what would he do?
* BigBrotherInstinct: It's implied that he will be protective of his little sister once she's implemented in the game.
* BigManOnCampus: Downplayed. At first only the most average girls will like him, but each subsequent rival is more popular, important, strong, or otherwise difficult to defeat than the previous one.
* BlessedWithSuck: He has the ability to instantly attract a harem of girls who all want to be with him. Too bad one of those girls is a yandere.
* BrainyBrunette: Played with. He has black hair by default and is frequently seen reading a book at the fountain during the morning, implying that he's a bit of a bookworm, but if Info-chan's comments in the Student Info are anything to go by, his grades (like everything else about him) are average.
* BreakTheCutie: He has close relationships with two of the rivals ([[ChildhoodFriend Osana Najimi]] and his younger sister), and the developer has stated that the way they disappear from his life may give him serious mental problems by the end of the game, including PTSD. Even if rivals are dealt with non-violently, it appears he'll either suffer trust or abandonment issues, depending on the methods used.
* BrokenBird: Like Yan-chan, Senpai has a sanity meter. Unlike hers, his isn't visible. It will be damaged if he witnesses something disturbing. [[note]]Bloody weapons and pools of blood will damage it slightly. Finding a corpse will hurt it more, and finding out his best friend and/or sister are dead will damage it significantly. Witnessing his best friend and sister die in front of while he is helpless to do anything will be the most damaging experience to his sanity.[[/note]] Heaven help you if he finds out that you killed his best friend and his little sister when he has low sanity… It's been confirmed that just how much damage you do to his loved ones will affect the kind of ending you get, possibly including his committing suicide.
* CallToAgriculture:
** The information Info-chan gives you on Senpai is rudimentary at best, but he is known to enjoy spending time outdoors in Akademi's courtyard. His interactions with Osana seem to confirm that he enjoys spending time in nature. Indeed, [=YandereDev=] has stated that if none of the rivals or Yan-chan existed, he would probably end up with the President of the Gardening Club. He can also be seen on the school's Fakebook page asking about the age of the cherry trees on the main path to the front gate in old debug builds before it was changed to Sakyu who asked the question.
** Early in development, fans who delved into the game files discovered he was in the Gardening Club, as it was the original "null" club stat. These days, he is in no club. [=YanDev=] has said that Senpai will never join any club during the course of the game, though he'll drop in on several.
* CanonName: While [=YanDev=] stated at one point that he'd like players to be able to change Senpai's name, the character bio on the official site states that the male and female variants are canonically "Taro Yamada" and "Taeko Yamada" respectively. That said, unless Hanako's surname gets programmed to change to whatever is set as Senpai's surname, the Yamada surname will be consistent despite renames.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Osana Najimi.
* ConvenientlySeated: [=YandereDev=] jokes that he has "the main character chair" – seated in the back next to the window. Sure enough, in the redesigned school (where the students finally sit at their desks), that's where his desk is.
* CoolShades: You can give him a pair when you're customizing him.
* CovertPervert: When someone asked whether he'd really accept the Nurse's feelings on Twitter, the Dev replied by basically implying that he might have a nurse fetish.
* CowardlyLion: Senpai has a variant of the "Loner" persona, meaning his reaction to seeing a dead body is to [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere run off campus to call the police]]. In addition, many of his quotes upon [[GameOver seeing Yan-chan doing something…]] ''unsavory'' have him react with shell-shocked horror. However, if Senpai sees you kill a rival while wearing a mask, he'll rip it off you personally to expose your identity.
* CluelessChickMagnet: For someone who started the game not being very popular, senpai will somehow attract the attention of a surprising number of people, who will serve the role of the rivals Ayano must get rid of. S/He's utterly clueless as to why these people are attracted to him/her, not the least of which Ayano.
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: [[spoiler:In the Mission Mode AlternateContinuity, his death by the hands of Ayano triggers the transformation of his little sister Hanako into the ruthless killer Nemesis.]]
* DisappointedInYou: In the "bad reputation" ending, as you are surrounded by giggling girls, he gives you a DisapprovingLook, shakes his head and crosses his arms.
* DistressedDude: [[spoiler: If the player chooses to go for a kill everyone route in the demo, Yan-chan will kidnap Senpai as soon as everyone else is dead. The last scene shows him tied up, gagged and blindfolded on the chair in her basement.]]
* TheDogBitesBack: [=YanDev=] has mused the possibility of Senpai ''actually killing Yan-chan himself'', should he lose enough sanity and discover that she (that is, you) caused the death of a loved one – his sister mentioned specifically – in front of him.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Presumably the case if you decide you want a [[PurelyAestheticGender female Senpai]], since you and the potential suitors will still be female.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: While you can name him whatever you like, he's typically referred to as Senpai.
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** Nice as he is, there are limits to what he'll take. If you stand near him too long, he'll get creeped out and eventually ask you to go away, triggering a game over. And he also (obviously) won't react well to any signs of Yan-chan's true murderous nature. Adding on to this, he'll be repulsed if he sees Yan-chan taking panty shots.
** He has a strong sense of justice, and hates people who commit evil behind a veil of anonymity. The sight of a masked murderer would fill him with disgust and cause him to disregard his own safety and unmask the murderer at all costs.
** On a darker level, in the final game, he will not accept a love confession from a rival who has a sufficiently bad reputation. This also extends to ''you''.
* ExtremeDoormat: He's portrayed as a pushover in response to how his {{tsundere}} friend Osana Najimi treats him, as well as his own little sister (he'll actually ''agree'' if she demands he not get any girlfriends, for example).
* {{Fetish}}: [=YandereDev=] has implied that he might have one for [[HospitalHottie nurses]].
* FlatCharacter: {{Justified}}, as he's not supposed to be a complex character. He is a completely average and normal guy.
--> "An average student. Average grades, average look, average life… I'm not sure what you see in him." - Info-Chan
* {{Foil}}: [[spoiler: To Jokichi Yudasei, While Jokichi is powerless against Ryoba and doesn’t try to defend himself against her, Senpai on the other hand will attempt to murder Ayano if she pushes him too far.]]
* GayOption: Senpai is male by default, but he can be made a female, turning Senpai (and the entire game) into this. If the option is given to play as a boy, then it will be this a second time around.
* TheGenericGuy: He's a walking nod to all the generic NiceGuy protagonists of harem anime and dating sims. It's to the point where his name is the Japanese equivalent of [[MrSmith John Smith]].
* HelloInsertNameHere: So far, it's planned that while he's only referred to as "Senpai"[[labelnote:†]] (or whatever term is appropriate for a character to use – "Big Brother" for Hanako-chan, etc.)[[/labelnote]] in dialogue, the player would be able to pick a name for him that would appear in Student Info and social media.
* HeroicBSOD: Suffers a ''nasty'' one if he discovers his childhood friend Osana's dead body.
-->'''Senpai:''' Osana?! What's wrong?! Are you hurt?! Osana!! Oh my god!! Osana!! Answer me!! [[PleaseWakeUp Wake up, please, wake up!!]] Don't do this! Oh, god!! This can't be happening!! [[BigNo NO!!]] [[LittleNo ...no...]] ...hello...police? ...I'm...a student at Akademi...my friend is...dead...I'm not sure what happened...please...send someone...anyone... ''[sobbing]''
* HeroOfAnotherStory: With the tropes listed here and the fact that he slowly starts amassing a harem, he'd serve as a fine protagonist of a harem anime or DatingSim if he was the lead character. Unfortunately for him, he's in ''this'' game.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: If too many girls [[CartwrightCurse die or go missing immediately]] after meeting Senpai, rumors may spread that he is a serial killer.
* HumanSacrifice: He is this for several very powerful people. Namely [[spoiler: the [[MegaCorp SAIKOU Corporation]], but the Headmaster and others as well. All these people know that Ayano is targeting him and that her family has been targeting men for generations. And yet they are perfectly okay with letting her do so unchallenged, saying that she "serves a purpose". What that purpose is has yet to be revealed, but it still all come down to the fact that they're essentially feeding this poor boy to a monster so that they can reap some benefit from a lifetime of suffering.]]
* InherentlyAttractiveProfession: When Muja Kina substitutes the school's nurse for a week, Senpai gets sick and visits her cabinet a lot. According to [=YandereDev=], Senpai might have a fetish for nurses.
* InsaneTrollLogic: Senpai will come to...interesting conclusions regarding ''all'' women, not just the rivals, if they are all eliminated in a certain fashion. This is especially strange if senpai happens to be female herself.
** If the rivals are made to disappear without a trace, Senpai will jump to the conclusion that all girls are delinquents, who routinely skip school. Ayano herself can fall into this category if the player missed too many classes.
** If the rivals are instead framed for murder, he will come to believe all women are bloodthirsty killers.
** Lastly, if the rivals are DrivenToSuicide, he will get the impression that all women are suicidally-depressed.
* LipstickLesbian: If Ayato (or any of the Rule 63 versions for that matter) never gets implemented, then Taeko is this by default, since she's a GirlyGirl who only has female Love Interests.
* LoveInterest: To Yan-chan. And about nine[[note]]([[ClingyJealousGirl Hanako]], his sister, is TheNotLoveInterest)[[/note]] other ladies… who need to be… dealt with.
* MeaningfulName: Senpai's placeholder name, Taro Yamada, is about as generic a name as the default design for Senpai (being a rough Japanese equivalent to [[MrSmith John Smith or John Doe]]).
* MrSmith: His placeholder name, Taro Yamada, is a rough Japanese equivalent to John Smith or John Doe.
* MultipleEndings: Senpai will develop different complexes depending on how Yan-chan eliminates the rivals. Some examples:
** Majority of rivals commit suicide -- Senpai develops a fear that all women are on the brink of suicide.
** Majority of rivals framed for murder -- Senpai develops a fear that all women are murderers.
** Majority of rivals set up with another boy -- Senpai worries that no girl will ever love him.
** Majority of rivals expelled from school or have their interactions with Senpai sabotaged -- Senpai develops a negative opinion of women.
** Majority of rivals die in "accidents" -- Senpai worries that he is [[CartwrightCurse cursed]].
** Discovers that Yan-chan is the cause of all his misery -- [[TheDogBitesBack Senpai attacks her]].
* NiceGuy: He seems to be a kind and all-around decent guy, which is what attracts so many girls to him.
* NoNameGiven: He's simply known as "Senpai" by most people, although his actual name is Taro Yamada (the Japanese equivalent of [[MrSmith John Smith]]). The Dev has said he would like for the player to be able to choose Senpai's name.
* ObliviousToLove: He doesn't seem to realize that [[CluelessChickMagnet he's very desirable to his classmates]].
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Is this for the most part.
* PleaseWakeUp: In the second part of the January 2017 Osana Progress Report, as he witnesses Osana choking to death on poison, he'll say this to her.
-->"Osana, answer me! Wake up! Please wake up! Don't do this!"
* PurelyAestheticGender: While he's male by default, it will be possible to choose his gender in the final product.
* TheQuietOne: Senpai prefers solitude, and he's often seen sitting alone at lunch.
* {{Revenge}}: The developer has hinted that, at the end of the game, if you have pushed him too far and he finds out that Yan-chan is the source of all his misery, she's probably getting a knife to the face. If you kill his sister, he will attack you in retaliation.
* SanityMeter: He also has one that steadily decreases as he witnesses bad things happening around him. If his sanity is at rock-bottom by the end of the game, it's going to end badly for Yan-chan.
* SanitySlippage: [=YandereDev=] plans to have this happen to him if his sister and/or his ChildhoodFriend are killed.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere:
** If he sees a body, he'll leave campus to alert the cops.
** [[spoiler:If you sabotage Osana's Thursday event by disabling her alarm clock so she sleeps through their designated meeting time]], Senpai will eventually lose his patience and head home.
* SignificantDoubleCasting: If male, he shares a voice actor with [[spoiler:Yan-chan's father]]. [[labelnote:Why is it significant?]] [[spoiler:Both are the senior of a {{Yandere}} girl and, unfortunately, the targets of their love.]] [[/labelnote]]
* TurnTheOtherCheek: He's a pretty forgiving dude to his love interests (with the exception of [[CantGetAwayWithNuthin Yan-chan]]). That said, his patience has its limits and he will not accept a confession from a rival whose social events have all been sabotaged.
* UnluckyEverydude: Despite being an OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent, he attracts the attention of a {{Yandere}} and is going to be put through the worst experience of his life.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Him meeting Ayano, and Ayano falling for him, is the reason for (almost) everything evil that happens in the story.
* WhatTheHellHero: He says this trope verbatim to Osana when he hears the doctored voice recording that Yandere-chan makes to [[FrameUp frame her for badmouthing him.]]
* YouMonster: Says this verbatim to Yan-chan in at least one of the bad endings.

Ayano's ally in [[MurderTheHypotenuse "winning"]] Senpai's affections. Yan-chan can take pictures of her classmates and send them to Info-chan for, well, [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin info]]. Yan-chan can also send her panty shots or plant listening bugs in order to earn various "favors" from her. She belongs to her own little club of one and is exempt from most school rules.
-----
* AmbiguouslyBi: She was originally intended to be the final rival for Senpai's affection, but in her official art, she's looking at a PantyShot photo while blushing. This implies that her reasons for requesting them aren't just so she can sell them to other people. However, [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/7t7ofs/questions_about_osana_najimiinfochanjournalist/ YandereDev stated]] that she's possibly asexual and/or has no time for relationships.
* BestServedCold: Among the segment of the fandom that believes she is [[spoiler:the daughter of the Journalist]], there is speculation that her motivation for working with Yandere-chan is to [[spoiler:expose her, and probably her mother, for their crimes.]]
* {{Blackmail}}: According to Yan-chan, she has a history of blackmailing girls. For a price, you can have her do her thing to your rivals. A Headmaster tape released with the Delinquents update in April 2018 reveals that [[spoiler: she actually blackmailed the headmaster himself into giving her ownership of the room she now works out of, the equipment she needs for work, and ample privacy to do her thing.]]
* TheChessmaster: She is constantly gathering information, developing professional connections (at least a few of them with very shady people), and maneuvering people towards unknown ends.
* CrazyPrepared: She has at least one CCTV camera installed, right outside the Info Club room (wherein she has barricaded herself).
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Red eyes and red hair to match.
* DeathIsCheap: If she commits suicide due to her reputation being lowered enough, she will respawn the next day, albeit under a different name.
* TheDragon: She's Yan-chan's main ally in her quest for love.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Though she accepts {{panty shot}}s in exchange for favors, she doesn't accept any panty shots from corpses. However, this might be for [[PragmaticVillainy pragmatic reasons]], as those would be very incriminating -- not to mention that ([[ILoveTheDead hopefully]]) no one would buy them.
* EvilDuo: With Ayano. Yan-chan will send Info-chan [[PantyShot upskirt photos]], while Info-chan introduces the rivals to her and also provides basic information about anyone whose face Yan-chan photographs. If Yan-chan sends Info-chan enough upskirts, then Info-chan will do favors, such as give out blackmail or send a student home.
* EvilRedhead: Absolutely.
** In the first (now outdated) intro, she was the one who pushed Yan-chan to take action against Osana Najimi, outright telling her to kill.
** In the second intro, she's fully aware of Ayano's nature (Yan-chan already wants Osana dead), and also seems to hold some sort of grudge against Osana and has no qualms about sending Osana to her death. She will probably be similarly callous about other rivals.
** In-game, she responds to photos of your murder victims with nothing more than "good work, but I don't need photos like this".
* FinalBoss: Played straight early in development but later averted. She's the mythical Second Yandere, and concept art exists of her and Yan-chan having a rooftop knife fight during a thunderstorm. However, that idea was eventually scrapped.
* FreudianExcuse: Although future developments could eventually refute it, some things in the game imply that she's [[spoiler:the daughter of the Journalist]].
* FourEyesZeroSoul: Wears glasses which are visible even in the gloom of her hideout and is just as sociopathic, if not more so, than Yan-chan herself.
* FriendToPsychos: She's a "friend" to Yan-chan, although they're less actual friends and more simply allies who are mutually exploiting each other. The second intro of the game seems to imply that Info-chan has something against Osana Najimi.
* GetOut: If the player manages to glitch or mod their way into the Info Club, [[DevelopersForesight the game resets the week]]. Before that, though, you can hear Info-chan's response to Yan-chan suddenly appearing in the room, which is less than positive.
* GreaterScopeVillain: It's very likely that she has her fingers in many other pies. If nothing else, she's definitely the GreaterScopeVillain to Yan-chan's BigBad.
* HatedByAll: Her reputation, at least as "Info-chan", is permanently set at -999. [[note]]That's according to [=YandereDev=]. At present, accessing what little you can of Info-chan's profile shows her with a "0" (neutral) reputation.[[/note]] Everyone at school knows what she does. This is a big reason why she keeps her true identity a secret.
* HeKnowsAboutTimedHits: Offers tutorials to Ayano regarding many game mechanics such as reputation, sanity, murder, etc.
* HiddenAgendaVillain:
** Unlike [[MurderTheHypotenuse Ayano]], Info-chan's reasons for wanting Osana to die are completely unknown at this moment. All she says about it is that she'd "be happy if something bad happened to Osana-chan", and that Yan-chan is the right person to give Osana "what she deserves".
** If it really is true that she's [[spoiler:the Journalist's daughter]], then her motives for working with [[spoiler:the daughter of the woman who ruined her father's life]] are even more mysterious.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Her interests state that she has a positive feeling about the concept of justice, ignoring the fact that she's a criminal and is willing to help out a potential SerialKiller[=/=]SpreeKiller/mass murderer.
* InSeriesNickname: She acknowledges her nickname when introducing herself to Yan-chan.
* KnowledgeBroker: She's able to identify any student you send her a picture of along with various other useful information on them.
* MeaningfulName: She helps the player learn more about the other characters. When a picture of a character is taken, she'll tell Yan-chan everything she knows about them.
* NoLoveForTheWicked: [=YandereDev=] has stated that she's possibly asexual and/or has no time for relationships. And she's probably more immoral than Ayano. Ayano ''can'' be a horrible murderous monster, but she can just as easily be [[MatchmakerQuest a school cupid]]. Info-chan will ''always'' be a blackmailer, black-market dealer, enabler of criminal activity, and information broker who deals in panty shots, and implies that she wants something horrible to happen to Osana, an innocent girl.
* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: Part of her reputation is that when she asks for a favor, you do it... [[ThatWasntARequest or else]].
* OhCrap:
** Not a reaction you'd expect from a girl as cool-headed as Info-chan, but, in Mission Mode, if you manage to snap multiple photos of Nemesis, Info-chan's reactions slowly go from confused to this.
--->''"Strange, I have no profile for this student."''\
''"...wait. I think I know who she is."''\
''"You are in danger. Avoid her."''\
''"Do not engage."''\
''"I repeat: Do. Not. Engage."''
** If, by some miraculous chance, you manage to get away with taking a panty shot of the Nemesis, Info-chan would not recognize her panties. The July 2017 update [[DevelopersForesight changed her response to this]], and, like her above quotes, it is '''''not''''' a reaction you want someone like Info-chan to have;
--->''"Wait...I recognize those panties! That person is extremely dangerous! Avoid her at all costs!"''
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Everyone calls her "Info-chan" because no one knows what her real name is. The dev has implied this is intentional on her part – she goes out of her way to avoid anyone associating her true identity with "Info-chan", to the point of leading a double life. [[https://twitter.com/YandereDev/status/651877807878832128 He also stated]] her real name will probably never be revealed, since it's not important.
* PsychoticSmirk: Her default expression.
* PunctuatedForEmphasis: If you send her enough photos of an undisguised Nemesis, she will be quite succinct in telling you to [[RunOrDie stay the hell away from her]].
-->''"I repeat: Do. Not. Engage."''
* RedEyesTakeWarning: She's red-eyed, and she's the handler who's manipulating a (potential) SerialKiller. Heck, she was originally a second {{Yandere}}.
* TheRival: The original plan for the game, as stated by the dev, was for Info-chan to make her move on Senpai during the final week and for you to have a BattleInTheRain with her. This idea has since been scrapped.
* SailorFuku: Just like every other girl in school.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: Red half-frames.
* ShroudedInMyth: [[https://reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/847lks/questions_for_dev_about_infochan_the_rivals/ According to YandereDev]] and the demo's intro, she's an urban legend that few believe.
* TheSociopath: She has a disturbing lack of empathy and a willingness to dabble in extortion, blackmail, and murder. In Mission Mode, she works with a hitman, and [[https://reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/7szfs4/if_yanderechan_never_met_senpai_what_would_have/ the Info-chan from the main timeline "wouldn't be opposed to it"]].
* StalkerWithoutACrush: The way she gets her information; either she (through planted bugs) or her "connections" spy on whoever she wants spied on. Yan-chan herself can be one such "connection" if you so choose.
%%* TeensAreMonsters: She definitely qualifies.
* TheUnseen: Sort of. She ''does'' attend school, but she spends all of her time in the (locked) Info Club room and cannot be interacted with directly, although you can peek in to see her at work. Her profile picture is in silhouette (except for her glasses and hair). Attempting to access her profile leads to a glitched out screen and a (recorded!) message from her telling you not to bother.
%%* VillainousCrush: Was planned that she would have one on Senpai, becoming the last boss.
* VoiceWithAnInternetConnection: While she'll be attending school like all other students and will communicate with Yan-chan, you'll never actually encounter her in-game in order to avoid the dilemma of being able to kill her.[[note]]As people who have glitched into the Info Club room have discovered, though, Info-chan's model lacks a hitbox, thus it's impossible to kill her.[[/note]]

!!The 10 Rivals
These are the ten ladies who challenge Ayano's love for Senpai. All of them like him along with one other so that you can play matchmaker and set them up with someone else if you wish.\
At the beginning of the term, Senpai will only be liked by fairly average girls who are easy to deal with. Over the next ten weeks, the rivals become tougher to defeat. The rivals will not be in school before their week begins, so you can't get rid of them early. If you finish off a rival early, you will get the option to skip to the next week.

[[folder:As a Whole]]
* AnguishedDeclarationOfLove: All of the rivals will do this if you don't stop them. [[note]] Except [[ClingyJealousGirl Hanako]]. Her "confession" will instead be a request that Senpai ''not'' get a girlfriend for the foreseeable future. As far as Yan-chan is concerned, though, it may as well be one.[[/note]]
* TheBadGuyWins: From Yandere-chan's perspective, any of them successfully confessing their love to Senpai is this.
* ContractualBossImmunity:
** Info-chan has (or will have) an option where you can call in a favor to get a student sent home by faking devastating family news. However, the Rivals will be immune to it, to prevent Yan-chan from sabotaging their confession [[AnticlimaxBoss that easily]].
** Rivals are almost never actually ''alone'', unlike most other students, to prevent you from easily ambushing them.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: Every one of them (if you include "development rival" Kokona as one of the rivals) contrasts a previous rival.
** While Kokona didn't know Senpai very well, Osana Najimi is his childhood friend.
** Unlike the [[{{tsundere}} abrasive]] Osana, Amai Odayaka is a very gentle and sweet girl.
** Whereas Amai is very kindhearted, Kizana Sunobu is selfish and self-centered.
** In contrast to Kizana, who loves being in the spotlight and has a big ego, Oka Ruto is a very shy and insecure girl.
** Unlike the shy and quiet Oka, Asu Rito is energetic, exuberant and very extroverted.
** In addition to being the first adult rival, Muja Kina contrasts Asu through their respective competence levels. Asu is a good enough athlete to be seriously considered as a future Olympic gold medal winner, while Muja is so inept at her job that she makes her patients worse off.
** Mida Rana is an intelligent woman, unlike the dimwitted Muja. Also, while Mida's a very innocent woman whose apparent innuendos are [[InnocentInnuendo unintentional]], Mida is perverted to the point of being a sexual predator and her use of innuendo is ''completely'' intended.
** Unlike Mida, who preys on teenage boys, Osoro Shidesu actually took some teenage boys in need of protection under her wing.
** Not only is Hanako Yamada the first rival who's not romantically interested in Senpai, she contrasts Osoro by being far more girly and openly affectionate than her.
** Finally, Megami Saikou contrasts Hanako by being far above her in social class, as well as being a longstanding and major part of the school's establishment unlike Senpai's NewTransferStudent younger sister.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: The vast majority of the rivals have the same color hair and eyes, regardless of how much or little sense it makes. Amai and Asu are the major exceptions.
* DarkSecret: Each of the rivals will have one that can be used against them.
* DrivenToSuicide: If you destroy their reputation enough.[[note]] To do this, you will need to get their reputation below -150. Keep in mind that -100 is the point at which they'll stop coming to school and Senpai will reject their confession, so the only reason to go any further is [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential just to rub salt in their wounds]].[[/note]]
* FlowersOfRomance: [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/7syy98/rivals_question/ This Reddit post]] by [=YandereDev=] details how each rival would react to being given a flower. Osana would call it stupid, but put it in her hair while denying that she likes it; Amai would treasure it; Kizana would throw it away and get angry at the giver for not realizing that her favorite flowers are roses; Oka would be surprised (and happy), Asu would thank the giver and offer to go with them for a run sometime; Muja would bump into the giver, apologize, and only notice the flower on the ground later; Mida would giggle slyly and offer to have "a word" with the giver after class; Osoro would tell the giver to keep the flower; Hanako would thank the giver and mention that it reminds her of a time she picked flowers with her brother; Megami would say that she appreciates the flower.
* GenderFlip: For April Fool's Day 2017, the introduction video was re-posted featuring {{bish|onen}}ified male versions of them… only this time, it wasn't Senpai they were after, but ''Ayano herself''.
* HasAType: The Matchmaking elimination method revolves around figuring out each rival's type and molding a student who has a crush on them into fitting those criteria.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: In a less-insane DatingSim, they would be the members of the harem each trying to win protagonist Senpai's heart. You could honestly make a game based on them romancing Senpai. Unfortunately for them, they're in ''this'' game.
* IconicItem: [=YandereDev=] had mentioned (and the Rival Introduction video later confirmed) that each rival would be recognizable by a pair of unique stockings.[[note]] For the record, Osana's are pink with white polka dots; Amai's are white with mint green stripes; Kizana's are purple with red roses; Oka's are grey with a spider web motif; Asu wears gold-&-black socks; Muja's are pink and held up by garters; Mida's are dark brown and also come with garters; Osoro doesn't wear stockings (though she has many other things to easily identify her); Hanako wears white knee-socks; Megami's are dark grey with red trim and come with matching gloves.[[/note]]
* LoveInterest: To Senpai.[[note]] Hanako and possibly Megami [[NotLoveInterest being exceptions]].[[/note]] All the rivals will also have a second crush that you can pair them with.
* KillTheCutie: Some of the rivals are meant to be likeable and/or cute (such as Hanako and [[ShrinkingViolet Oka Ruto]]), but all will be killable. That's one of the punishments you can mete out for their getting in between Yan-chan and her Senpai.
-->'''[=YandereDev=]:''' Several of the rivals are supposed to be likable characters who don't deserve to die. [[YouBastard I want the player to feel shame/guilt]].
* MurderTheHypotenuse: You don't have to kill them, but you can, and many gameplay features involve the various ways you can murder them.
* PairTheSpares: Aside from murder, you ''can'' peacefully remove them by setting them up with someone other than Senpai.
* PermanentlyMissableContent: Maybe? Four of your rivals are club presidents. Normally, killing or kidnapping a club president results in their club being disbanded and any perks Yan-chan could gain from that club disappearing. However, [=YandereDev=] has given conflicting information about whether killing or kidnapping these club presidents ''during their "Rival" weeks'' would also result in the club shutting down for good. [[note]] [=YanDev=] has said that student rivals who are neither killed nor expelled (i.e. removed via Matchmaking or Sabotage/Rejection) will probably attend school for the rest of the game, albeit as normal NPC's. That includes the four club leaders. If you kill any of those four at ''that'' point, their clubs will definitely close.[[/note]]
** As mentioned on the main page, killing or kidnapping a student who is set to be a Rival's secondary suitor renders Matchmaking impossible for the week. Same story if you kill a student who would be involved in a Rival's Befriend/Betrayal (e.g. Musume). This is intentional, and is your consequence of playing the game as a murder-happy nutcase.
* PunnyName: All but one of the rivals (Hanako) have either this or a MeaningfulName.
* RemovingTheRival: You'll have to get rid of them [[MurderTheHypotenuse one way]] [[VideoGameCaringPotential or another]] if you want to keep your Senpai.
* TheRival: Each one is Yan-chan's rival for Senpai's affections. [[spoiler: Even more so with Oka and Megami, since they’re both implied to be aware of Yandere-Chan’s true nature.]]
* SailorFuku: Every student rival – that is, all of them except Muja Kina (substitute nurse), Mida Rana (substitute teacher), and Megami Saikou (who wears the white Student Council blazer) – wears the standard Akademi uniform. Some, like Osoro and Oka, may wear a jacket over it.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: They all went after the NiceGuy. Of course, they're also planned to have another crush that Yan-chan can pair them off with to get them out of her way without killing them.
* VideoGameCaringPotential: You can eliminate them peacefully by befriending them (and then asking them to leave Senpai alone) or matchmaking them with a different boy...
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: ...or you can murder them, get them arrested, torture them into insanity, get them expelled (or in the case of Mida Rana or Muja Kina, fired/arrested for unprofessional conduct and violating age of consent laws), or drive them to suicide by getting the entire school to bully them. Whatever works.
* YouBastard: Many of the rivals are designed to be extremely likeable girls with endearing personalities. The developer stated that he wants players to feel guilty about killing them.

The very first of Yan-chan's rivals. She is Senpai's {{Tsundere}} childhood friend and secretly harbors feelings for him. Because she believes in the Myth of the Cherry Tree, she plans to tell him of her feelings on Friday under that tree to make sure he'll accept her. Osana serves as a tutorial of sorts for the player and is the easiest rival to defeat. But beware; Osana herself has no combat skills, but she is almost always accompanied by her best friend, [[RedBaron The Indestructible Rival]], Raibaru Fumetsu.
-----
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: If Ayano befriends Osana, by [[spoiler:sneaking into Osana's stalker's house to get Osana's cat back so the stalker can't use the cat as leverage to prevent Osana calling the police]], Osana will pay Ayano back by agreeing to stay away from Senpai as Ayano requests, which will non-violently eliminate Osana as a rival.
* BlatantLies: She will often do something nice for Senpai, and then feed him some excuse about how it was just convenient for her or something like that.
* ButtMonkey: As the first true rival to be revealed, she tends to be on the receiving end of a lot of abuse.
** Several non-gameplay-related videos feature her being brutally killed. For example:
*** "I Want My Senpai Back"
*** "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Murder"
*** "Raising the Strength Stat" doesn't show her being killed ''per se'', but Yan-chan does grab her by the pigtails and hammer-toss her into the stratosphere.
** As progress on her AI and routines continued into 2017, she took on this role in-game as well.
** And now that the "official demo" has been released as of August 31st, 2020, Osana is officially in the game and thus players can eliminate her (by pacifistic or violent means) as they please.
* CelebrityResemblance: [[spoiler:This is why the stalker is harassing Osana; Osana happens to resemble an anime character the stalker is in love with named Miyuki, so the stalker wants to have Osana to himself because it's the closest to having Miyuki in the real world.]]
* CharacterTic: She sways her hips which Ayano points out in the rap battle.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Senpai (and his sister Hanako).
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: If you don't butt in, she'll become Senpai's girlfriend.
* ClingyJealousGirl: In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnnZxMYBK9Y this video]] (made by the game's voice actors), Osana is willing to have a (relatively) civilized rap battle with Ayano, until [[spoiler:Ayano taunts her with the idea she's going to bang Senpai]]. Osana responds by attacking her.
* ClosetGeek: [[spoiler:Her dark secret is that she writes SelfInsertFic pairing herself with boys from her favorite anime]].
* CurtainsMatchTheWindows: More or less for her ginger hair.
* DeadlyRotaryFan: Easily the goriest way to kill her. [[spoiler: By unscrewing a fan grate on the rooftop HVAC unit and luring her up to the roof, Yan-chan can feed one of her very long pigtails into the fan, which will proceed to suck her in, tearing off her head and spraying blood everywhere.]]
* DiedInYourArmsTonight: [[spoiler: One means of eliminating Osana leads to her eating a lethally poisoned lunch and dying in Senpai's arms. [=YandereDev=] states that being forced to watch as his childhood friend dies in his arms while he can do nothing but helplessly beg her to stay with him will cause more damage to Senpai's sanity than any other means of eliminating her.]]
* EtTuBrute: [[spoiler:Ayano can optionally befriend Osana after rescuing her cat from the stalker, but Ayano can also optionally drug Osana's tea so Osana can be tied to a chair and eliminated.]]
* FieryRedhead: She has orange hair to go with her {{Tsundere}} personality.
* FirstGirlWins: If she gets to confess to Senpai, since she's the rival of the first week.
* FreudianExcuse: Her DarkSecret has been hinted at, and now that the "official demo" has been released as of August 31st, 2020, players can discover what it is. [[spoiler:A stalker is harassing her, to the point where Osana threatens to call the police, but [[IHaveYourWife the stalker has kidnapped her pet cat]] [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals and is threatening to kill it]] if Osana calls the police. The stalker in question is in love with an anime character named Miyuki, and wants Osana to dress up as her and be his girlfriend because Osana superficially resembles her.]]
* FriendshipTrinket: After Osana and Raibaru became best friends, they became so close that they started wearing matching hair accessories.
* GamerChick: {{Inverted|Trope}}. When Raibaru asks her if she's interested in joining the Gaming Club, she suggests she has no interest in video games.
* GirlishPigtails: She's a teenager who wears her hair in pigtails, as a nod to the typical {{Tsundere}} image. They were originally short and plump, but were later designed as more long and slender.
* HasAType: If you decide to use the Matchmaking elimination method, you can eavesdrop on Osana admitting to Raibaru that she developed feelings for Senpai gradually, but Senpai isn't normally her "type". Osana is normally attracted to [[spoiler:tan skin, glasses, a ponytail, and piercings, and the man also has to be intelligent]]. If you tell these details to [[spoiler:Kyuji Konagawa]], he will change his appearance accordingly, and then you can matchmake them.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: She is this with Raibaru, [[CuteBruiser the previous president of the Martial Arts Club]]. This factors into her week, as Raibaru never leaves her side and attempting to kill either her or Osana while they are together is the equivalent of a suicide. That said, their friendship can help Ayano to gather information about her rival's interests and secrets.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Will come across as one to Senpai if you sabotage her Thursday event [[spoiler:by setting off her alarm clock and making her oversleep and lose the date. Senpai will run out of patience and leave, after which he says that Osana claims he's the one who's always late]].
* ICanExplain: Every time you sabotage an interaction with Senpai, [=YandereDev=] states that Osana calls Senpai after school and explains the circumstances, which is why they are on good terms the next day. This is why you must sabotage multiple events, once might be explainable, but multiple times is a cause of concern.
* ImportantHaircut: If she's still at school during week 2, she'll have cut her hair short. According to an earlier conversation with Senpai, she promised herself not to cut her hair until "a certain idiot stops being stupid and realizes how I feel about him."
* InelegantBlubbering: She ugly-cries loudly if she sees Raibaru is dead.
* InsultBackfire: In an unofficial, but official-voice-actor-made, rap battle, she insults Ayano by calling her a freak, only for Ayano to respond by stating she is a [[SexGoddess freak in the sheets]].
--> "I don't think he'll complain when he gets me in the sheets~"
* JerkassToOne: So far, it seems like she's usually nice to just about everybody... except Senpai. As she's a {{Tsundere}}.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She seems to be a decent person otherwise. As an example, she acts rather friendly to Ayano during her Friendship Task. There are also quite a few occasions where she's genuinely nice to Senpai.
* KindheartedCatLover: She has a cat phone charm and a pet cat, and she's generally a NiceGirl outside her {{Tsundere}} moments. [[spoiler: Saving her cat is the key to befriending her.]]
* LikeMotherUnlikeDaughter: Despite being a {{Tsundere}}, [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yanderesimulator/comments/9arbwu/some_questions_about_characters_mothers/?utm_content=title&utm_medium=user&utm_source=reddit Word of God]] doesn't imagine her mother to be one.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Downplayed. She is childhood friends with Senpai, and if she dies, it'll take a large chunk out of his hidden Sanity stat. (Second only to killing Hanako.)
* MeaningfulName: Her full name is Japanese for "childhood friend", and has this sort of relationship with Senpai.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: According to [=YandereDev=] [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/576nxy/will_senpais_sister_be_upset_if_osana_dies_since/ here,]] Osana is the only aversion to this that Hanako will allow. Since they're childhood friends, Osana is the one person she is willing to "give" her big brother to.
* NiceGirl: to anybody other than Senpai or [[spoiler:her stalker]].
* NotWhatItLooksLike: The social sabotage route involves making her look like [[spoiler:she is a LethalChef who is careless with other people's property, takes lewd photos, doesn't keep her appointments, and talks shit about Senpai behind his back]]. Naturally, this doesn't endear her to Senpai one bit.
* NoSympathy: If Yan-chan eliminates Osana nonlethally, but kills Hanako, [=YandereDev=] has said that Osana [[https://twitter.com/YandereDev/status/658443978103091200 will make no attempt]] to comfort her grieving childhood friend. This is especially jarring since Osana is also friends with Hanako, and [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/576nxy/will_senpais_sister_be_upset_if_osana_dies_since/ Hanako herself would be upset if Osana were the one to die]], which goes way beyond her tsundere behavior and straight into cold-hearted territory.
* OffWithHerHead: One of her unique elimination methods results in this. [[spoiler:Yan-chan removes the protective grate covering the school's rooftop heat/air unit, then grabs one of Osana's long pigtails and feeds it into the moving fan – Osana gets sucked into the unit and violently decapitated before it explodes.]]
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: She doesn't appear too abnormal, aside from being Akademi's only ginger.
* PatientChildhoodLoveInterest: She's had feelings for Senpai since they were kids. It's even in her PunnyName, since it basically [[MeaningfulName means]] "childhood friend" in Japanese.
* PunnyName: Her name loosely translates in English to "childhood friend".
* RecordedSplicedConversation: One of the events that can be sabotaged involves Ayano recording a conversation between Osana and Musume, and editing the audio to make it seem like Osana is disgusted by Senpai.
* SelfInsertFic: [[spoiler:If you pay Info-chan for Osana’s dark secret, it’s revealed that she writes self-insert fanfiction where she romances the boys in her favorite anime]].
* SmallRoleBigImpact: She may only be the first rival, but the way you deal with her has one of the biggest impacts on Senpai's sanity in the game, due to their past together.
* StarterVillain: She's the first "villain" to go up against our [[VillainProtagonist "hero"]], Ayano-chan. The developer has said she functions as a tutorial of sorts… though there is also likely to be an ''actual'' tutorial to teach new players basic mechanics before Osana's week officially begins. [[note]]Dev stated this tutorial would probably feature Kokona, the game's longtime test-rival (and beloved by many fans as a result), since her programming and pathfinding for eliminations is already in the game.[[/note]]
* SupremeChef: Her Monday event has Senpai enjoy a bento [[ThroughHisStomach she makes for him]]. [[spoiler:A little emetic poison will fix that quite nicely.]]
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: She often tells others that she doesn't like Senpai even if they don't ask her that.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Her stockings, hair scrunchies, and phone case are pink with white polka-dots.
* TearsOfJoy: If Senpai accepts her confession on Friday, she will cry out of happiness.
* TechnicolorEyes: Orange ones, to [[CurtainsMatchTheWindow match]] her hair.
* ThroughHisStomach: The progress report video on her shows her trying to win over Senpai by preparing him a boxed lunch, which Yan-chan can sabotage with [[VomitDiscretionShot emetic medicine]].
* {{Tsundere}}:
** She's actually the sweet kind. While she's usually rude and aggressive to Senpai, she's pleasant towards everyone else [[spoiler:sans her stalker]]. It gets lampshaded by Yandere-chan in the old intro and first glimpsed in the original opening cutscene:
--->'''Osana:''' ''"Don't get the wrong idea! It's not like I ''want'' to walk to school with you! I only walk with you because you'd probably get lost without my help! You're hopeless!"''
** Parodied to an extent in the story "I Want My Senpai Back":
--->'''Yan-chan''': Have you seen my Senpai?\
'''Osana''': [[BlatantLies N-no! Why are you asking ME!? I-it's not like I like him or anything! I don't even NEED a Senpai! I wouldn't date YOUR Senpai!]] D-don't ask me any more questions! UsefulNotes/{{Baka}}!
* TsurimeEyes: Has upturned eyes because she's a tsundere.
* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: If only because she unintentionally ran afoul of Yan-chan.
* WarmUpBoss: The developer confirmed that Osana is this, as her strength is weak, she has no club or posse, and she's much easier to befriend or frame than future rivals. However, she'll still have a routine that always keeps her near Senpai or other students, unless you put in the work to get her alone. And now that the "official demo" has been released as of August 31st, 2020, Osana's friend Raibaru is always following Osana around, so Raibaru will need to be dealt with first in order to get Osana alone.

The caring president of the Cooking Club. She is an excellent chef-in-training who loves to see people enjoy the food she prepared. A sweet, gentle girl who will bond with Senpai quickly. During her week, she operates a bake sale in the school courtyard- conveniently placed so that the students who hang out there (and Senpai) will notice immediately if Yan-chan tries anything.
-----
* AFriendInNeed: After Senpai is feeling sad and vulnerable, reeling over however you eliminated Osana in the previous week, Amai becomes Senpai's friend just when he really needs one, which also kick-starts Amai's own romantic feelings towards him.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: {{Inverted|Trope}}; if you don't eliminate Amai, then a romance can happen because ''she'' was nice to ''him''.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Possibly. In a video where [=YandereDev=] discusses the possibility of implementing an elimination method that involves driving the rival to murder and getting them arrested, he illustrates his point with an image of Amai covered in blood, carrying baskets full of organs, and holding a severed human head on a plate.
* BigOlEyebrows: While her current 3D character model lacks them due to technical limitations, her official design shown on the game's website is noteworthy for making her one of only two rivals in the entire game to have thick eyebrows (Osoro is the other). Itachi and Miyuji also have big eyebrows.
* BoyishShortHair: Inverted. Her hair is fairly short compared to most other rivals, probably so she doesn't have to tie it back when cooking. However, she's about as far from a tomboy as one can get.
* CoolBigSis: She's very cool, considering she's so sweet and caring.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Notable for being one of two rivals to avert it – Brown hair and green eyes.
* FeminineWomenCanCook: Very girly-seeming and the president of the Cooking Club.
* NiceGirl: She's been consistently described as a gentle, caring CoolBigSis type; as her profile on the website notes, "nothing makes her happier than seeing people enjoy the food that she has prepared." Also, she's nice enough to offer to be Senpai's friend simply because he was feeling sad and vulnerable and really needed one, which is what can kick-start a romance if you fail to eliminate her.
* PunnyName: ''"Amai (甘い)"'' means "sweet (taste)" in Japanese; ''odayaka'' means "calm" or "gentle".
* RelationshipUpgrade: It is remarked that Amai and Senpai become close because she is friendly and Senpai needs a friend. She is hoping for more.
* SupremeChef: She kinda has to be, since she's the president of the Cooking Club. The character page confirms that Amai's culinary skills are far beyond those of a normal high schooler.
* ThroughHisStomach: She will make Senpai food as she gets close to him.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the GirlyGirl to Asu's {{Tomboy}}.
* WakeUpCallBoss: Since Amai is not a "demo" rival like Osana, it's likely that eliminating her will be significantly more difficult than the first week.

The self-centered president of the Drama Club. She harbors three desires – to be the most popular girl in school, to be the greatest actor to ever live, and to get Senpai. That last one means Yan-chan must deal with her.
-----
* AlphaBitch: Has elements of this. Her short-term goal is to become the most popular girl in school, and she's described as haughty, arrogant, and rude. In the video addressing Kokona's and Kizana's similar appearances, she is shown copying Kokona's hairstyle, then demanding that Ayano tell Kokona to change it because it's now "hers".
* BigBreastPride: Kizana has the largest chest of any ''student'' rival in the game (slightly bigger than Megami's) – yet another thing she has in common with Kokona. Unlike Kokona, Kizana has never been shown to regret her top-heavy proportions.
* BookSmart: It's suggested she's a great student, as she places the [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/7odaie/questions_for_dev/ second highest on tests]] out of all rivals.
* CompositeCharacter: Potentially. Her current design strongly resembles Kokona Haruka, one of the first [=NPCs=] to be introduced into the game and also the debug builds' test rival.[[note]] More correctly, Kokona resembles Kizana, since Kizana was created first and literally everything about Kokona's design and prominence in the game was whim and coincidence.[[/note]] It is possible that some of Kokona's backstory could be reused for Kizana. While the developer once considered making the two characters one and the same, blowback from fans (who pointed out the two characters' nearly opposite personalities) forced him to consider more creative options. As of now, nothing is settled.
* DramaClub: She's its leader.
* FatalMethodActing: InUniverse. It's been hinted that each of the rivals will have unique murder methods that can be used only on them, and hers would involve dying on-stage.
* FlowerMotifs: Red roses, as a symbol of both the romance she's hoping for and her desire to be adored as a performer. She wears two roses in her hair and one on her black choker, her stockings are patterned with images of roses and leaves, and her introductory video has her being showered with roses while spotlighted on-stage.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: She has purple hair and is a vain and pretentious drama club leader.
* {{Irony}}: The play she's trying to romance Senpai with is ''Theatre/RomeoAndJuliet'', of all things. This play is one of Shakespeare's ''tragedies'', a drama about two kids who ''just'' fell in love and, in less than a week (three days to be exact), it ends abruptly with their self-inflicted deaths. Depending on how things go – that is, how the player deals with her – either Kizana will be killed in less than a week (abruptly ending her attempt to woo Senpai), or she'll confess her love to Senpai… [[IfICantHaveYou at which point Yan-chan might very well kill them both]] [[MurderSuicide and herself]] (if the "Promo Concept" is any indication).
* ItsAllAboutMe: She's very fond of herself. One proposed solution for the whole Kokona/Kizana problem is to have her rip off Kokona's hairstyle, then browbeat Yan-chan into forcing Kokona to change her hair so she can have her own unique hair.
* {{Jerkass}}: Kizana is haughty, selfish, and egotistical. It has been stated that she dislikes anyone who is more popular than her, would want more money to be given to her club just because another club got more money, and, [[UngratefulBitch if given a flower, would throw a fit and reject the gift while calling the giver stupid for not realizing that she likes roses, telling them to leave and get her a better gift]]. A proposed plotline is to have her copy Kokona's hairstyle and then accuse Kokona of copying her and demand that she change it so she (Kizana) can look original. In this plotline, she would tell Ayano to ''make herself useful'' and demand that Kokona change it for Kizana because confronting Kokona herself is beneath her.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: Though she must have some talent to become the ''president'' of the Drama Club, she's still described as "arrogant".
* LargeHam: Kizana clearly has a flair for the dramatic, as shown in her currently available dialogue. She also [[MilkingTheGiantCow speaks a lot with her hands]] during her proposed task, as seen in the video focusing on her and Kokona. It makes sense really; she is a stage actress, after all.
* LikeParentLikeChild: Along with being a talented actress, Kizana's parents also act. It's implied they're great at it too.
* LovableAlphaBitch: Newer videos from [=YanDev=] have had him toying with the idea of making Kizana this, rather than a straight-up AlphaBitch. Sassy, commanding, and charismatic, but still likable and ultimately a nice person, at least in public.
* MeaningfulName: "Kizana" means "snobbish", while "Sunobu" is {{Engrish}} for "snob". The dev describes her as "someone who thinks of herself as royalty".
* {{Narcissist}}: She has many characteristics of one. Her defining trait is her pride. She thinks of herself as far more important and knowledgeable than she really is, and she hates it whenever anyone makes her feel inferior. She pays no mind to those she deems unworthy of her attention and has a grudge against Megami for being more popular. While she is fond of Senpai, it would not be surprising if she still loves herself more. The possibility that she'll push him to be an actor if she wins his affections implies such.
* {{Pride}}: Has a lot of confidence in herself.
* ProudBeauty: According to hypothetical dialogue, Kizana wouldn't feel too bad about masks being banned because "a mask would only rob the school of the privilege of being able to see my stunning good looks."
* RomanceOnTheSet: In-universe, apparently this is part of her tactic of romancing Senpai. She's trying to nudge him into the Drama Club. The school's play happens to be ''Theatre/RomeoAndJuliet''. She feels she's the best to play Juliet. And well, what better way to get your crush to notice you than having to act out a romance together? She doesn't seem to consider how the play turns out for the titular characters, however.
* SmallNameBigEgo: She's very fond of herself, and while she ''is'' a talented actress, she doesn't appear to have any other skills. This may change once we see more of her, though.
* ToBeAMaster: According to her character profile on the official website, Kizana's goal is "to be the most famous actress who has ever lived".
* TheTragicRose: Potentially. She has a rose motif reflecting her desire for love, and this can result if you take her out via murder or bullying by proxy.
* UngratefulBastard: A reddit post from [=YandereDev=] about the reaction each rival might have if given a flower has Kizana berating the giver and calling them stupid for not realizing that she likes roses and rejecting the gift, telling them to get out and come back with a better gift. Even [[JapaneseDelinquents Osoro]]'s reaction is much less mean.

The weird president of the Occult Club. She has a strong belief in the supernatural, and wants to dedicate her life to proving such creatures exist. After falling in love with Senpai in a short period of time, she believes there's something supernatural about him. Uniquely amongst the rivals, she appears in the debug builds[[labelnote:†]] (first appearance: November 15th 2015)[[/labelnote]] as an interactable NPC to provide functionality for her club. Her routine will be different when she is a rival. Her NPC persona is "Coward". She is in class 3-2.
-----
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Like Yan-Chan, there just seems to be something ''off'' about her, for a lack of a better term. Plus, it’s also implied that like Yan-Chan, she also possesses supernatural powers, as judging by her claim to see the darkness in people’s auras and(correctly) seeing whether or not Yan-Chan has killed people before.
* ArchEnemy: Not in the game itself, as they are never shown to interact, but in works by their shared voice actress, мσм0кι, Oka Ruto and Midori Gurin are always at odds with each other, especially in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJQDOYTGueo this video,]] with Oka using demon powers against "Magical Girl Pretty Midori".
** With Yan-Chan too. In terms of development time, she’s the rival that’s been around the longest, making her feud with Yan-chan even more pronounced that the other rivals. Also, in the game, it’s implied that she and [[spoiler: Megami]] are both aware of Yan-Chan’s true nature.
%%** Given her obsession with "unmasking" them, Oka might view the Basu sisters this way.
* AuraVision: She claims to have this, and if she witnesses Yan-chan committing a murder, she'll say she can't join the occult club because her aura is too dark and will attract evil spirits.
* BreakoutCharacter: She may very well be the most popular of all the rivals. This is due in large part to her strange, cute, and quirky personality… and the fact that she was present in the debug builds (while most other rivals stayed under wraps for nearly a year) so fans had a chance to get to know her. [=YandereDev=] openly said he considers her the cutest of the rivals, although that was only part of the reason he introduced her early.[[note]] The more direct reason for adding her at that point was technical – Dev wanted to see how easy it would be to implement a character with unique textures and mannerisms. She would later serve as the guinea pig for custom hairstyles, unique accessories, and custom clothes.[[/note]] As such, she appears very often in other works outside of the game itself, especially those made by her voice actress.
** In fact, a [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/58e64d/which_rivals_will_you_definitely_spare_and_which/?ref=search_posts thread]] on the game's subreddit asked players who they were going to kill or spare once the game was finished. Almost all of the commenters vowed to spare Oka.
** Kjech has also alluded to this. When he drew [[http://fav.me/daltli1 this sketch]] of Oka, he referred to her as "Everyone's favorite" and admitted he feels tremendous pressure when drawing her due to not wanting to upset her legions of fans. Of course, said fans loved the sketch.
* CharacterTic: She holds her hands close together with her head down when she walks.
* {{Chuunibyou}}: She has a severe case.
* CreepyChild: "Child" is pushing it (as a senior, she's 18 or close to it), but still… [=YandereDev=] describes her as "creepy" and "spooky". Her idea of a fun club activity is attempting to summon a demon.
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: [[spoiler:Turns out you ''can'' summon demons…]]
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Dark blue hair and eyes. An updated character model made her eyes more purple, but it's still close enough to count.
* EarlyBirdCameo: In a meta sense. Oka's not the first rival (she's actually the fourth), but she was added to the debug builds as a NPC nearly a year before most other rivals were unveiled, for a variety of reasons – while Kokona was the elimination guinea pig, Oka has been used to test several technical character model things.[[note]] Examples: unique skin texture and walk cycle, custom hairstyle (she was the first female NPC to have hair that wasn't simply adapted from the base Unity assets other than Pippi), custom clothes and accessories (starting with stockings before moving on to neckwear, panties, and now a jacket).[[/note]] Her presence in the game led to her club being one of the first to have full functionality.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: She has very dark blue hair, and she will eventually have a pale skin tone.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Like the rest of the Club Presidents, she'll kick you out if she finds out you killed someone. If she does so in person, she'll even note the irony of getting kicked out of an Occult Club for being ''too'' spooky.
* ExhaustedEyeBags: Always has these.
* {{Expy}}: [=YandereDev=] describes her as a mixture of Tharja from ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening'', Hex Maniac from ''VideoGame/PokemonXAndY'', and Tomoko from ''[[Manga/NoMatterHowILookAtItItsYouGuysFaultImNotPopular Watamote]]''.
* {{Goth}}: [=YandereDev=] says he was inspired to make her when someone suggested a goth girl rival. She definitely counts in appearance and tastes.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Oka's dialogue makes it clear that she's very lonely and insecure, and she's surprised and elated if Yan-chan joins her club.
-->''"…y-you…actually…want to join?"'' [-[yes]-] ''"…this is wonderful news… perhaps the world isn't such a dark and lonely place after all…"''
** This carries over to if Yan-chan decides to leave the club. Oka's obviously devastated by it.
--->''"y-you're not…going to leave us…are you?"'' [-[yes]-] ''"…well…that's to be expected… I mean, who would want to be in this club anyway…"''
** Mechanic aside, her dialogue, if Yan-chan tries to rejoin, suggests that Oka isn't getting over it anytime soon.
--->''"...um... you already left this club once before... I... don't want to let you back in... you might just leave again... and it hurts when people leave... I don't want to be hurt again..."''
* TheInsomniac: [=YandereDev=] confirmed that the shadows around her eyes are from her staying up late researching paranormal things.
* IRejectYourReality: Oka dismisses any evidence that the Basu sisters aren't supernatural. The fact that Inkyu can survive in sunlight leads her to rationalize that Inkyu's a [[OurVampiresAreDifferent special kind of vampire]].
* {{Irony}}: This girl is a walking, talking ball of it.
** She rambles about AuraVision to someone who actually has it (that'd be Yan-chan).
** Upon inquiry, Oka says the Occult Club's goal is to "develop a resistance to horrific and terrifying things... or succumb to them", and its activity consists of trying to summon a demon.
** She's obsessed with and stalks the Basu sisters, convinced that they are supernatural beings, but has no idea that a real supernatural being (or five) inhabits the club room where she would otherwise spend all of her time.
** If Yan-chan leaves the Occult Club of her own accord, Oka will grimly muse aloud about why anyone would ever want to join her club anyway… in front of her five club-mates.
** If Oka herself witnesses Ayano murder someone, she'll either refuse membership or kick Yan-chan out, saying Yan-chan's aura is too dark and will attract evil spirits. Once again, the club's activity is ''attempting to summon a demon''.
** If Yan-chan is in the Occult Club and one of the other members sees her commit murder, Oka will kick her out on the basis that Yan-chan is too scary. Oka herself lampshades the situation.
--->''"um… I'm sorry… you can't be a member of this club anymore… you're too scary… huh, that's ironic… being kicked out of a club about scary things… for being too scary…"''
* LonersAreFreaks: Is described by the dev as an outcast. She's also pretty freaky. Note however that, as an NPC, she does not have the game's "Loner" personality type, but rather the "Coward" one.
* MessyHair: She essentially has perpetual bed hair.
* NightmareFetishist: Comes with the territory of being the President of the Occult Club. She also spends most of her evenings watching horror movies, reading {{Creepypasta}}, and researching paranormal things. Student Info even tells us she doesn't appear to have much interest in anything else.
* OneWingedAngel: In the ''[[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Yanderetale]]'' minigame, she gains The Horror's Not![[Manga/ElfenLied Vectors]].
* OppositesAttract: She, a self-proclaimed seeker of the supernatural, is attracted to the milquetoast Senpai.
* PermanentlyMissableContent: In the debug builds, killing or kidnapping her results in her club being shut down. May or may not be the case if you take her out ''during'' her Rival week.
* PunnyName: "Oka Ruto" sounds like an {{Engrish}} pronunciation of "occult".
* PutOnABus: In the August 18, 2018 build, she was removed from the game so that she could be retooled into a proper rival.
* ShoutOut: Does one in-game. Her description of the Occult Club contains this little gem:
-->''"…witches, ghosts, vampires, demons, [[Literature/HaruhiSuzumiya aliens, psychics, and time travelers]] are all welcome here."''
* ShrinkingViolet: She walks with her head down, her hands clasped in front of her, and her shoulders pulled up. Her quiet, halting voice only drives in the point further.
* SpeechImpediment: Prior to her having voiced dialogue, the developer typed out a sample line from her that suggested she had a stutter. In the game itself, she does not speak with a stutter, but her speech is very halting and deliberate, like how someone who subconsciously compensates for a stutter would talk.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: She stalks the Basu sisters in an attempt to prove their supernatural nature.
* SymbolMotifClothing: She has dark purple gloves and stockings absolutely covered in a spider web design. It fits with such a spooky girl. Based off [[https://twitter.com/YandereDev/status/692814927526891521 this]] picture that has been released it will probably be part of her final design.
* UnkemptBeauty: [[http://i.imgur.com/H9NrYTn.png One old picture]] of her depicts her quite nicely, and she's pretty good looking despite her messy hair and baggy eyes.
* WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove: Oka's dialogue in the Rival Intro Video suggest she is not actually aware that her feelings for Senpai are "romantic love", so she thinks Senpai put a hex on her.

The athletic president of the Sports Club. She's the top student athlete in the region, and her classmates predict she'll be winning Olympic gold medals in a few years. A cheerful and friendly girl, she finds it very easy to make friends, and her nature is what attracts Senpai to her.
-----
* ActionGirl: She is the president of the Sports Team, so she must be.
* ActionGirlfriend: Will be this with Senpai if you don't stop it.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: She is quite tan in her artwork, although her in-game model has lighter skin due to technical limitations.
* TheBigGirl: Is the most active of the rivals.
* BoyishShortHair: As president of the Sports Club, this is practical.
* {{Foil}}: To Itachi Zametora. While Asu is positive and cheery, Itachi is gruff and unfriendly towards everyone.
* GenkiGirl: Her character profile describes her as "perpetually cheerful and energetic".
* LesbianJock: Bisexual Jock in her case. She's the president of the sports club and the top athletic student in the region, and she also swings both ways, as she will pursue a relationship with either a male or female Senpai.
* LightHairedSwimmer: She has dark skin and blonde hair due to how much time she spends outside and in the pool.
* LovableJock: Is your rival, but seems alright.
* ModestyShorts: She wears black and yellow shorts under her skirt.
* PassionateSportsGirl: Must be to be the leader of the Sports Club and Swim Team Captain.
* PunnyName: Like Oka's name seen above, Asu Rito's name is {{Engrish}} for "Athlete".
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: She is the only female member of the Sports Club.
* {{Tomboy}}: We're assuming this because she's so sporty. Also that hair.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The president of the Cooking Club, Amai Odayaka, is the GirlyGirl to her {{Tomboy}}.

The substitute school nurse and a rival to Senpai's affections. Her characterization has been described as pure and innocent, if [[InnocentInnuendo a little blind to certain implications]]. She loves taking care of people, but her klutzy nature often causes problems…
-----
* CombatMedic: She will have a "Heroic" persona, meaning that she will respond to murder by attempting to disarm Yan-chan. Just ''how'' strong she is hasn't been revealed yet, but since [[BadassTeacher the teachers]] are no pushovers, she likely won't be either.
** That said, [=YandereDev=] has waffled regarding this concept, and stated that he might make her the only faculty member who is incapable of self defense. He has also stated that one of the Headmaster's tapes will explain why she was employed despite this.
* CrazyPrepared: In the game, she moves around certain items so that the player won't know where to get them.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Pink hair and pink eyes.
* CuteClumsyGirl: She's even spilling ethyl alcohol in her character art, and in the Rival introduction video, the in-game visual it freezes on is of her tripping while carrying a tray of syringes.
* TheDitz: She's described as rather less than intelligent. It's been stated that she tends to make things worse for her patients due to her incompetence, has no defense training or combat experience, is a clumsy oaf, and, if she were given pepper spray, she would accidentally spray herself.
* EarlyBirdCameo: She was in the debug builds from mid-2015 until August 2017 (when she was replaced by the regular nurse), albeit as a model without any programming. Her status as an official rival was confirmed by her red aura.
* {{Ephebophile}}: She ''does'' show interest in a high school senior. It's been implied by [=YandereDev=] that ''Senpai'' may come on to ''her'' due to having a nurse fetish.
* FlorenceNightingaleEffect: [=YandereDev=] says Senpai will become ill at the start of her week, and will visit the nurse's office once a day. Combined with Senpai's [[CovertPervert thing for nurses]], this illustrates why you need to eliminate her.
* {{Foil}}: To Mida Rana, the substitute teacher, whose schtick is intentional innuendo, unlike Muja's own tendency to make InnocentInnuendo. There's also the fact that Mida is smart and has had extensive self defense training, while Muja is an idiot who can't defend herself.
* HartmanHips: Is also quite gifted in another certain area.
* HospitalHottie: She's a nurse and has a highly sexualized figure.
* ImpossibleHourglassFigure: Even in the context of this game, she has one.
* InnocentInnuendo: [=YandereDev=] says that her schtick is "unintentional innuendo".
* TheLoad: She's stupid, clumsy, makes things worse for her patients, and can't even defend herself from a teenage girl.
* MayDecemberRomance: Will get one with Senpai, though she's so innocent that she might not actively search for it. And, again, she likely isn't ''that'' much older than him.
* MeaningfulName: Her name, Muja Kina, is derived from ''mujaki na'', which is Japanese for "[[InnocentInnuendo innocent]]".
* PinkIsErotic: Muja is a rival because Senpai has a nurse fetish and her outfit is one of the most risque designs in the game. Her nurse uniform consists of pink and white, with her cleavage and thighs being shown.
%%* PunnyName: See MeaningfulName above.
* PutOnABus: Being a ''substitute'' nurse, she will leave the school when her week is over, regardless of how she is eliminated. However, [=YandereDev=] has stated that there might be a reason for her to stay at Akademi despite the fact that the official nurse has returned; namely, she might stay as the nurse's intern/trainee.
* RoseHairedSweetie: She's so innocent that she's unaware of how things can sound to teenage boys. Naturally, she has pink hair.
* SchoolNurse: It's in her description!

The horny substitute teacher. She loves being the center of attention, especially from teenage boys. Seducing schoolboys is her hobby, and no man has been able to resist her charms.
-----
* AssholeVictim:
** If you decide to kill her. She regularly seduces her own students (who may or may not be of legal age) for sport. However pleasant she may appear to be, she's still in gross violation of occupational ethics at best and a sexual predator at worst.
** In fact in the same subreddit poll mentioned above under Oka Ruto, whenever the commenter wasn't going for a multi-kill or full kill everyone scenario, in which case she is usually included as a victim, she is the rival most commonly singled out as being the one rival they would specifically kill off, even in a mostly pacifist run, and she is rarely ever spared, so apparently even the fanbase agrees that, in this case, it would be good thing to KickTheSonOfABitch.
* AttentionWhore: According to her official description, she adores having dozens of people pay attention to her, [[{{Ephebophile}} particularly male teenagers]].
* BadassTeacher: Like the other teachers, she will have extensive self-defense training, so she'll be just as capable.
* DepravedBisexual: Considering the fact that she's a horny ephebophile who takes joy in seducing male students, but would happily do the same to a female senpai, she's this.
* {{Determinator}}: It's said that once she has her sights on a boy, she will not let up. Of course, she's yet to meet [[{{Yandere}} Ayano-chan]].
* {{Ephebophile}}: The thing she enjoys most about her job is that it gives her access to teenage boys she can seduce.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: She spends her time seducing her male students (which is a crime, even if they are of legal age, [[UnequalPairing due to her being in a position of power]]). That said, she will be horrified by murder, just like the other rivals.
** [=YandereDev=] has also stated that she wouldn't make any lewd/inappropriate remarks regarding a TeenPregnancy due to how serious of an issue it is and would offer any advice she could to someone going through a personal crisis.
* {{Expy}}: [=YandereDev=] says she was inspired half by [[VideoGame/{{Persona 4}} Noriko Kashiwagi]], and half by [[Anime/DearS Mitsuka Yoshimine]].
* {{Foil}}: To Muja Kina, the substitute nurse whose shtick is InnocentInnuendo, while Mida's innuendo is completely intentional.
* HartmanHips: Like Muja, and unlike her, she's fine with using them to her advantage.
* HateSink: She's a shameless {{Ephebophile}} who constantly pursues her own students and has no problem abusing her authority in order to do so. Needless to say, there are few players who can stomach sparing her.
* HotTeacher: She's sexy, and she certainly knows it.
* LasciviousBeautyMark: There's a small mole below her mouth and near her chin. She's also [[MsFanservice one of most sexualized characters in the game]] and her most notable trait is seducing male students.
* MayDecemberRomance: Clearly wants one with Senpai, and is said to have had some similar relationships with previous students.
* MrsRobinson: An adult woman who's a serial seducer of teenage boys.
* MsFanservice: As part of her lewd nature, she has a more overtly sexual design.
** One of the Headmaster's tape will explain why she was hired to work at Akademi High despite the way she dresses.
* ProudBeauty: She's well-aware of the effect she has on teenage boys, and [[AttentionWhore enjoys the attention]].
* PunnyName: Her name is a play on ''midara na'', which means "lewd".
* PutOnABus: Like the School Nurse, she will leave the school at the end of her week. She's a ''substitute'' teacher, after all. However, [=YandereDev=] has stated that there might be a reason for her to stay at Akademi despite the fact that the teacher she was substituting for has returned; namely, she may be hired as Kocho Shuyona's secretary.
* ReallyGetsAround: Seducing schoolboys is her ''hobby''.
* {{Sexophone}}: Her leitmotif involves a saxophone, heard during the "Rival Introduction" video. She's also a MsFanservice who has zero qualms seducing [[{{Ephebophile}} teenage boys]].
* ShadowArchetype: To Genka, Akademi's counselor. Both are school faculty members who dress in dark clothing, have shapely figures, show a lot of cleavage, and play an adversarial role to Yan-chan. They also happen to share a voice actress. However, while Genka is consistently professional in her dealings with students, Mida has numerous sexual conquests among the teenage boys she's taught, and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: [=YandereDev=] has confirmed that if she noticed Ayano taking a upskirt shot of her, she would actually be flattered. She'll still turn you in to Genka if you're caught taking panty shots of other students, [[DoWrongRight but only for your lack of subtlety than you doing it at all]].
* SignificantDoubleCasting: Shares a voice actress with Genka Kunahito, which is significant for the reasons detailed above.
* TeacherStudentRomance:
** What's she's hoping for. Will happen if you don't step in.
** Possibly if you do, as well. If matchmaking with her works the same as with all the other rivals, you'll be able to set her up with a different student than Senpai.
* WickedHeartSymbol: Along with being a serial seducer of teenaged boys, in the game's intro, she's seen sitting by two hearts she apparently drew on a chalkboard in a classroom.
* TheWorfEffect: Considering the fact that she would be one of the few rivals capable of fighting back, and she's one of the [[TheDreaded teachers]], and comes right before Osoro's week, with Osoro being noted to be the hardest of the rivals to (physically) take down, she would be this if you were to try and eliminate them both via murder.

The leader of Akademi's gang of delinquents, she is the strongest character in the game. She spends the first several weeks of the game suspended from school due to some very serious infraction. Beyond that, little is known, due in part to everyone else being terrified of her.
-----
* ActionGirl: She's the strongest, toughest, most competent fighter in the game, including Budo and the teachers. The only student who matches her strength is Raibaru.
* AmazonianBeauty: [[https://twitter.com/YandereDev/status/781663276782452737 Some]] official artwork portrays her as extremely attractive, and she ''is'' pretty muscular. Just look at the size of her legs.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: She's the delinquents' boss, and [=YanDev=] has stated that she'll be the most difficult rival to (physically) take down, even harder than Megami.
* BadassArmfold: Her official character art features her standing with her arms crossed.
* BattleTrophy: Her CoatCape acts as one, since she took it from a student from a rival school who tried to beat her up. After she beat him up instead, she took his coat as proof of her victory, and wears it every day.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Considering it's been stated that her love for Senpai will bloom from a friendship, as well as her saying Senpai was "the only one who..." before being cut off in the rival video, it's implied this is why she falls for him.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Osoro is almost ludicrously strong for a teenage delinquent. She is stated to be the strongest student as well as the strongest rival, putting her above Budo Masuta, Muja Kina, and Mida Rana. Budo Masuta is the president of the martial arts club, and Muja Kina and Mida Rana are adult women employed at a school where extensive self defense training is a requirement for faculty. [=YandereDev=] has stated that she could even give a mindslave trouble, despite them being capable of killing teachers.
* CoatCape: She wears a coat this way, which is fitting for a delinquent girl. She took it from a member of a group of thugs who tried to attack her one day.
* CoolBigSis: She is this to the other delinquents; they idolize her absolutely and form their core identities around her. Their self-worth comes from her approval.
* CoveredWithScars: A promo image shows her with scars on her back and arms, and her in-game model shows she has a large cross-shaped scar on her face.
* DarkActionGirl: She's the leader of a group of delinquents, the toughest student in the school, and was suspended for unknown but serious reasons. In the delinquent backstory trailer, it is revealed that she brutally took down a large group of students from another school when they attacked her at the entrance to Akademi High.
* DelinquentHair: Her hair is bleached blonde and poorly maintained.
* TheDreaded: Most of the school avoids her out of fear due to her history of violent behavior.
* FelonyMisdemeanor: In the delinquent backstory, Genka blames the Delinquents' behavior on her and plans to use any excuse she can get to get rid of her for as long as possible in order to [[spoiler: reform them]]. This is the most likely explanation for her suspension for the first seven weeks of the game.
* {{Foil}}: To Musume. Both are blond haired female leaders of cliques comprised of not particularly nice people (the Bullies and the Delinquents, respectively). However, Musume and the Bullies are [[VillainWithGoodPublicity two-faced bitches with good publicity]] who keep their true natures hidden, while Osoro and the Delinquents are feared throughout the school. In addition, Osoro has a softer side to her, and the Delinquents tend to keep to themselves and only cause trouble if provoked, while Musume is a HateSink with no redeeming qualities, and the Bullies actively harass other students.
* HiddenDepths: This is pretty much a given, since she's set to end up in a relationship with Senpai – on the surface her polar opposite – if you don't stop her. ''What'' those depths are remain to be seen, as she is at first glance a hotheaded uber-delinquent with a history of violent behavior. Her interests at least reveal that she's a fan of light music.
* JapaneseDelinquents: The core premise of her characterization, really.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: The Dev has made it a point to mention that while she's a delinquent, she's not evil; and that if she catches Yan-chan in the act of murder, she ''will'' attack her, just like anyone with a "hero" persona. Further, she will form a bond with Senpai, and the fact that she's attracted to such a NiceGuy at all [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan means something]]. Not to mention, Senpai won't ever accept you if he catches you doing something evil, or if you have an exceedingly low reputation… but he ''will'' accept Osoro if you don't intervene. There must be some good in her. Indeed, the backstory of the other Delinquents reveals that [[spoiler: Osoro took them in and befriended them when they were being bullied to the point of contemplating suicide]].
* MeaningfulName: Her name comes from ''osoroshii'', meaning "terrible", in reference to her fearsome reputation. "Desu", the other part of her name, suggests her HiddenDepths. [[labelnote:Here's Why]] Japanese changes its grammar structure depending on formality; "desu" is a common sentence particle that is considered fairly polite (about mid-level formality), and no stereotypical delinquent would ever use it.[[/labelnote]]
* MissingMom: According to [=YandereDev=], her mother is dead.
* ModestyShorts: She wears black shorts under her skirt.
* AMotherToHerMen: The delinquents all practically worship her, and follow her example. Before they became delinquents, they were seen following her around like ducklings. It's through her influence that [[spoiler: they became delinquents in the first place, since she was the first person who presented them with a way they could stop being the targets of bullying]].
* NobleDemon: She is the leader of the delinquents and she has been suspended multiple times. However, there is clearly a good side to her. The backstory of the Delinquents reveals that [[spoiler: she took the other delinquents in and befriended them when they were being bullied to the point of contemplating suicide]].
* NotSoAboveItAll: As tough and tomboyish as she is, she still blushes in the Rival Introduction video.
* OddFriendship: She's the type of person that Senpai normally avoids, but will strike up a friendship with him when she becomes the rival.
* OneWomanArmy: The Delinquent Backstory video reveals she managed to single-handedly take down a group of students from another school, and took her iconic CoatCape from one of them as a BattleTrophy.
* PetTheDog: She befriended Umeji Kizuguchi, Hayanari Tsumeato, Gaku Hikitsuri, Hokuto Furukizu, and Dairoku Surikizu when [[spoiler: they were being bullied to the point of contemplating suicide]].
* PitbullDatesPuppy: She's a tough DarkActionGirl who is interested in dating an introverted NiceGuy.
* RiddleForTheAges:
** The cause of the x shaped scar on her left cheek.
* {{Sarashi}}: A piece of concept art ([[TheUnreveal that did not show her face]]) reveals this is how she ties her boobs down.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Following the April 2018 build, all of the other Delinquents are boys.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: A sympathetic example. She's the one that [[spoiler: taught the other delinquents to talk back to teachers, show up late, and behave rudely and aggressively towards other students. They all idolize her so much that they do it without question. However, she befriended them and took them under her wing in their time of need -- before joining her, they were being bullied so badly, they were seriously considering suicide. So while she encourages their bad behavior, it comes from a place of genuine caring.]]
* UngratefulBastard: Downplayed. In the Reddit post displaying each rival's possible reaction to being given a flower, Osoro's is to just tell the person who offered it to her to keep it. Considering that she's the leader of a group of delinquents, however, this seems rather tame considering the response that she [[HaHaHaNo could]] [[MyGodYouAreSerious have]] [[GetOut given]]. If nothing else, her response seems perfectly polite when compared to Kizana's.
* WeCannotGoOnWithoutYou: If she dies, her underlings will give up their delinquent ways.
* WorldsStrongestWoman: Is the strongest student in the school, even stronger than the Martial Arts Club president, Budo Masuta.
** The only one who matches her strength is the former president of the Martial Arts Club, [[BadassAdorable Raibaru Fumetsu]].
* XMarksTheHero: She has an x shaped scar on her left cheek, and while she may be a delinquent, she did [[spoiler: help out all the male Delinquents and stop them from committing suicide, becoming their friend when they needed one the most.]] She also would try her best to take Ayano down if she found out she was a murderer.

Senpai's cute little sister: a clingy, jealous, and emotionally dependent girl who demands her sibling's attention, so naturally she is a threat for Ayano even if not a typical rival. Rather than confess feelings of love at the cherry tree on Friday, she intends to take him there and demand he never take any girlfriends for her sake. Hanako is meant to resemble Senpai, and is likely to adopt any colour customization the player gives to him.
-----
* AdaptationalBadass: [[spoiler:In Mission Mode, the death of Taro leads to her becoming Nemesis-chan, who is basically an unstoppable force that's out to destroy you]].
* BigBrotherWorship: She absolutely adores her big bro.
* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler: In one alternate timeline, Ayano killed Taro, which led to Hanako becoming [[SerialKillerKiller Nemesis]]]].
* CheerfulChild: [=YandereDev=] has described her as a "happy anime girl", implying that she's going to be this. In one picture, she's making a similar pose to the Social Butterfly persona.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Non-romantic version. She doesn't like her brother romantically, she just wants him all to herself.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Normally, she's girly, cute, and described by the developer himself as a "happy anime girl". [[spoiler:In one AlternateTimeline, she becomes so much of TheDreaded as Nemesis that even ''Info-chan'' knows to stay away.]]
* TheCutie: Most likely the youngest and cutest of them all.
* EarlyBirdCameo: [[spoiler: As Nemesis.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Kencho, Megami's younger brother, as he is antagonistic towards his older sister and wishes to replace her. Hanako is extremely clingy towards her older brother and doesn't want to share him with anyone else.
* GirlishPigtails: She's young and has shoulder-length pigtails, with a heart-shaped hairpin for her bangs.
* GirlyGirl: The developer tells us that she's girly and cute.
* HiddenDepths: Hanako is your typical adorable LittleSisterHeroine who just absolutely wants to be as close to her big brother as much as possible. That said, [[spoiler:the comic ''Retribution'' reveals that she would become [[SerialKillerKiller Nemesis from Mission Mode]] if something happened to him.]]
* TheIngenue: Originally planned to be this, but developed into a bit more of a brat.
* LittleSisterHeroine: Her presence in the game is a clear reference to this trope's prevalence in romance anime and dating sims. However, she's just clingy, not incestuous.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch:
** Downplayed. While they have a fairly average sibling relationship, Senpai has a hidden Sanity stat that can take a hit if rivals are killed off in similar ways. The death of his little sister will knock a ''massive'' chunk out of Senpai's sanity, and could result in him becoming [[DrivenToSuicide suicidal]], or even [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge hunting down and killing]] the person responsible for it (that would be [[TheDogBitesBack you]]).
** The same is true in reverse: [[spoiler: Mission Mode takes place in an alternate universe in which Ayano is a professional killer instead of a love-sick stalker, with her very first victim being one Taro Yamada. His death traumatizes Hanako so badly that she ends up becoming Nemesis, a merciless SerialKillerKiller who is hell-bent on avenging her brother.]]
* MrSmith: Her name is the rough Japanese equivalent to Jane Smith.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: Or in her case, brother. According to [=YandereDev=] [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/576nxy/will_senpais_sister_be_upset_if_osana_dies_since/ here]], Osana is the only aversion to this that Hanako will allow. Since they're childhood friends, Osana is the one person Hanako is willing to "give" her brother to.
* NewTransferStudent: She's so clingy that she transferred to Akademi near the end of the first trimester because she couldn't bear being away from her big brother for so long, which explains where she's been for the previous weeks.
* TheNotLoveInterest: She's not interested in actual romance or sex, but she does want to be Senpai's number one girl anyway.
* TokenMiniMoe: She's Senpai's little sister after all. Downplayed because she's only two grades behind him, but she is the youngest rival.
* VideoGameCrueltyPunishment: You can kill Hanako just like all the other rivals, but [=YandereDev=] has made it abundantly clear that if you do that, it will result in a big hit to Senpai's sanity. However, if you murder her in front of Senpai, it will lead to '''''[[TheDogBitesBack your]]''''' [[TheDogBitesBack murder by]] [[DrivenToMurder Senpai]] ''[[DrivenToMurder himself]]''!

The wealthy, famous, beautiful, brilliant, strong, and otherwise perfect Student Council President, who is also the sole heir to the Saikou Corporation[[note]] (in this game, [=SaikouCorp=] is the largest business conglomerate in Japan; take a look around ''[=YanSim=]'' and you'll see their logo and/or symbol on almost every single product in the game, as well as adorning the archway above Akademi's front gate)[[/note]]. She's in the game's debug builds, albeit only seen on a laptop in the Student Council room. She seems to have a vendetta against someone who may or may not be Yan-chan.
-----
* AbusiveParents: Like her [[spoiler:aunt before her]], she has been groomed since birth to take over Saikou Corp, regardless of her wishes and in defiance of her right to any sort of childhood.
* TheAce: She's close to perfect. Of course, she could easily turn out to be a BrokenAce the more we see of her, since each rival is planned to have a DarkSecret. That said, quoth the character page: "Weakness: None". Fuck with her at your own peril.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Her venomous speech certainly sounds sinister, but considering the lack of context, it's not clear who she's talking to or how malevolent she is. And if it's true that the person she is talking to is [[VillainProtagonist Yandere-chan herself]], she may very well be a HeroAntagonist. Still, some things about her make you wonder how good she really is.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: According to [=YandereDev=], her younger brother Kencho is the only person who can get under her skin and cause her to lose her temper.
* BerserkButton: Killing any of the Student Council Members is this for her; she will respond by setting up extreme security measures such as cameras and metal detectors, which will permanently set School Atmosphere to its lowest possible setting. [=YandereDev=] describes killing a Student Council Member as a way of setting the game on [[HarderThanHard hard mode]].
* BigScrewedUpFamily: Is part of one; see the Saikou Corp folder on the "Other Characters" page for more details.
* BookSmart: Along with being a certified genius (according to her official profile), she [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/7odaie/questions_for_dev/ gets perfect scores on tests]].
* CreateYourOwnHero: Unlike the other rivals, whether or not Megami plans to confess to Senpai, let alone if she's even attracted to him, is rather ambiguous. She makes a DeclarationOfProtection to him because [[spoiler: she and Oka both have suspicions of Yandere-Chan's true nature]].
* DeclarationOfProtection: Towards Senpai.
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: It’s implied that she’s this to the Mary Sue-archetype; she’s like this because her family keeps pressuring her into being perfect in every way, which caused her to become rather high-strung and standoffish. [[spoiler: Her aunt was groomed in the same way many years ago]].
* DoesNotLikeMen: Rumors have spread about her not liking men, as all of the student council members are female, and the president must approve of someone before they're allowed to join the student council.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: She genuinely cares about the fellow members of her Student Council. If one of them is killed, she will be furious and increase security restrictions on the school by adding security cameras and metal detectors.
* {{Expy}}: She looks a lot like [[Anime/KillLaKill Satsuki Kiryuin]] with a slightly messier and pale hairstyle, and has the same kind of authoritarian personality, based off what we've seen so far and the word of [=YandereDev=]. Both characters are also the leaders of their respective school councils, and have a parent in charge of a major corporation. In fact, Megami's hair was originally jet-black like Satsuki's, but was later changed to silvery-blue to be less infringing; as of now, her concept bears some resemblance to [[Anime/ProjectAko B-ko Daitokuji]].
* TheFace: As the student body president, she serves as this for Akademi.
* FaceFramedInShadow: When she initially speaks to Yan-chan through the laptop, her eyes are obscured by shadow. Following the redesign that gave her model silver hair, she is now ''entirely'' framed in shadow.
* Fiction500: Being heiress to the largest business conglomerate in Japan, she has enormous amounts of money.
* FinalBoss: She is the tenth and final rival Yan-chan must face. [[labelnote:Fun Fact]] Originally, Megami was the ninth rival, with Info-chan (a.k.a. the Second {{Yandere}}) as the tenth. That changed when [=YanDev=] decided he did not want Info-chan to be killable.[[/labelnote]] Naturally, she will be the most difficult to eliminate.
** Let's see here. [[spoiler:[[HyperAwareness Awareness of Yandere-chan's true colors]]]]? Check. [[TheSocialExpert The most popular girl in school]]? Check. Implements [[CantGetAwayWithNuthin zero tolerance policies]] for suspicious behavior in the school? Check. Willing to install [[BeingWatched security cameras]]? Check. Hiring [[OddlyOvertrainedSecurity security guards]] to patrol the school? Check. Having the strongest difficulty rating out of all of the rivals? '' [[https://i.imgur.com/iwO7bnJ.png Check]]''. ''Welcome to Week 10''.
* FinalSolution: Unlike her father, she says she has no tolerance for "vulgar creatures" and, if it were her decision, then "every last one of you would be exterminated." Who or what she's referring to isn't exactly clear.
* {{Foil}}: ALighterShadeOfBlack to Musume Ronshaku. Both are wealthy, popular girls who lead GirlPosse[=s=] and wield great amounts of influence over the school. Megami is strict, professional, and leads the powerful Student Council, while Musume openly flouts school rules thanks to her father's wealth and is the leader of her GangOfBullies. While Megami is a HeroAntagonist who wants to make the school a safer place, Musume is a HateSink whose only purpose is to make other students' lives miserable. Finally, while Megami cares about her fellow student council members and would become enraged if one of them were to be killed, Musume would backstab anyone, including her best friend, in a heartbeat.
* FreudianExcuse: Her family has some... issues. The sheer volume of tangled, twisted threads of intrigue that surround the Saikou line is too much to explain here; see the Saikou Corp folder on the "Other Characters" page for details. Suffice to say that she has her reasons to be screwed up.
* GrandFinale: In every sense of the word as the dev himself has said that Megami is "'''the end of everything'''". One can only wonder what's going to happen when she is eliminated.
* GreaterScopeParagon: Serves as a HeroAntagonist variant until week 10. She does not appear in person to deal with Ayano directly until then, but the rest of the student council is still around to enforce her will. Don't try killing them; that'll just prompt Megami to buck the rules and turn the school into a PoliceState, making your job much harder than it already was.
* HeroAntagonist: More than any other rival. It's heavily implied that she [[spoiler: knows that Yan-chan is a StalkerWithACrush who is {{Yandere}} for Senpai, and [[WellIntentionedExtremist will do anything to stop her]]]].
* HiddenDepths:
** While ostensibly a ParodySue, her speech implies that she [[spoiler: has a surprising amount of awareness about Yan-chan's true nature]], and she herself exhibits unexpectedly [[TranquilFury dark]] [[FinalSolution traits]].
** She's noticeably upset about having to attend school via web chat, and resents her initial circumstances that prevent her from being a normal student.
** As we’ve just said, she and Oka are both implied to [[spoiler: know about Yan-Chan’s true nature.]]
** When Megami is alone with Aoi, [[spoiler:she behaves differently and is less formal than usual, implying some truth to the rumor that they're childhood friends]].
* IJustWantToBeNormal: She's physically absent for the first nine weeks of the game and attends via laptop, but she'd much rather attend school as a normal student.
* IronLady: Authoritarian and strict, and with [[FinalSolution ruthless tendencies]]. Highlighting this, on the official website's character page, whereas most of the rivals have two character portraits, 'normal' and 'blushing', Megami is unique in having 'normal' and 'gentle'… and even her 'gentle' portrait still comes across as serious and stern.
* KnightOfCerebus: Compared to practically every other character introduced to the game, she and everything known about her is portrayed completely seriously. No comedy, levity, or over-the-top exaggeration of anime clichés surround her character ''at all''. The only remotely humorous thing about her is an ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' ShoutOut in one of her lines and some [[ParodySue intentional Sueishness]], and even then, she still speaks some surprisingly threatening words in a grim tone. She seems to know exactly what's going on around her and is ''not'' going to take it sitting down.
* KnightTemplar: She's trying to protect the school from Yandere-chan and any other trouble makers. However, her methods are overzealous and borderline authoritarian.
* LackOfEmpathy: [[https://www.reddit.com/r/yandere_simulator/comments/81pjv3/some_questions_about_megami_or_her_familly/ She would be offended rather than angry or sad if her younger brother Kencho was killed]], and see his death as merely "a tremendous waste of time and money."
* LostPetGrievance: She had her own hamster stabbed via a knife wielded by her own hand, courtesy of the family "rite of passage" requiring Megami to prove her family loyalty. Whereas her other family members had remorsely killed their own pets and forgotten about them with time, Megami was hesitant and regretful, and still remembers her hamster by present.
* MarryForLove: According to [=YandereDev=], she would like to marry someone she genuinely loves, if possible.
* MeaningfulName: ''Megami'' means "goddess", while Saikou could be derived from "saikō", meaning something along the lines of "the best/the highest", or from ''saiko'', meaning "talented". Both names are quite befitting of someone stated to be absolutely perfect and who stands to inherit the largest business conglomerate in Japan.
* MyGreatestFailure: Aoi's missing eye is rumored to be due to reasons related to Megami.
* ANaziByAnyOtherName: As detailed under FinalSolution, she has no tolerance for "vulgar creatures" and, if it were her decision, then "every last one of you would be exterminated."
* TheNotLoveInterest: Possibly, considering a DeclarationOfProtection can be completely platonic, and the pose she does when declaring it isn't referred to as a blush pose (as opposed to every other rival, even Senpai's own sister, having a blush pose). Regardless of whether or not she truly loves Senpai, she is still a threat once you take into account the implication that she [[spoiler: knows Ayano's true nature and will do anything to stop her.]]
* {{Ojou}}: She is described as the most beautiful and popular girl at Akademi Academy who is also the StudentCouncilPresident and a wealthy heiress.
* ParodySue: The Dev himself once described her as a Mary Sue. Her profile on the official site describes her as the most popular, the most beautiful, the smartest, and the most talented girl in school. She's the heiress of a massive corporation that she will one day inherit, and is the StudentCouncilPresident. On top of all this, she also somehow [[spoiler: knows about Yan-chan's true nature and the {{dark secret}}s of Akademi High from the very beginning]]. Note, however, that unlike most {{Parody Sue}}s, ''nothing'' about Megami is PlayedForLaughs. It’s also implied that she may somewhat of a deconstruction of the trope, since she’s heavily implied to be the way she is because she’s pressurized by her family into being perfect in every way, just like how [[spoiler: her aunt was groomed to be the CEO in the last before she gave it all up.]]
* PetTheDog:
** Megami is ''ridiculously'' harsh and strict, and is [[spoiler: deeply suspicious of Ayano]]. ''However'', she's not completely unreasonable; if you have a moderate or high reputation by the time Megami returns to school, Megami will [[spoiler: seriously consider the possibility that she was wrong about her, and give Ayano the benefit of the doubt. (Depending on how you've been eliminating your rivals up until that point, it may even be deserved.)]]
** According to [=YandereDev=], if someone gave her a flower, she would appreciate the gesture.
* RedArmbandOfLeadership: Natural for club leaders, but considering that she's an authoritarian with a rather fiery method of speaking, the confusion associated with this trope is even greater.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Megami is explicitly prohibited from [[spoiler:taking any actions against Yandere-chan during the first 9 weeks of school, despite her suspicions of her]]. She'll keep to and follow these orders, but if Yandere-chan kills any of the [[MoralityPet members of the Student Council]], whom she is [[AMotherToHerMen very close]] to, Megami will turn the school into a borderline PoliceState with the express purpose of [[spoiler:exposing Yandere-chan.]]
* TheSmartGuy: She is stated on her character profile to have genius-level intelligence.
* StudentCouncilPresident: She is one, though you can join the council to enact a plot against her.
* ToBeLawfulOrGood: She'll keep her distance from the school and follow her orders to [[spoiler: leave Yan-chan alone]]. If one of her friends on the Student Council dies, however, then the game increases in difficulty as she disobeys those orders.
* TrainingFromHell: Went through it from an early age in order to inherit Saikou Corp.
* TranquilFury: Her laptop speech is absolutely full of quiet, visceral disgust towards the subject of it.
