!!Main Characters
[[folder:Tropes applying to both]]
* CantLiveWithoutYou: Evermillion says that if Honoka were to die, Ayaka would die as well. [[spoiler:This is because Ayaka lacked the will to live when Honoka tried to resurrect her and Evermillion's magic could only bring her back by making Ayaka into Honoka's vassal.]]
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: It's frequently hinted that Takamiya and Kagari knew each other when they were children, but they had their memories erased for some reason. When they meet again in the present, their strong feelings for each other become very obvious.
* CoupleThemeNaming: Both of their given names, Honoka and Ayaka, end in ''-ka''. [[spoiler:This is important because Ayaka having part of Honoka's name in her own is symbol of her being his vassal because of the ritual that saved her life.]]
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: Takamiya feels comfortable around Kagari and says that he has the feeling that he has met her before and they used to be close. Kagari affirms his suspicion to be true but unfortunately, she also can't remember their past, claiming their memories together were erased. She still had a recurring dream of them meeting in a field as kids.
* FromRoommatesToRomance: When Kagari's house is destroyed, she moves into Takamiya's house. Since she's obsessively in love with him, living together makes her happy to spend more time with him.
* LadyAndKnight: GenderInverted. Despite being a guy, Takamiya is Kagari's precious "princess" and she's his brave knight who will protect him at all costs. [[spoiler:Kagari was raised specifically to protect Honoka from the world in exchange for the immense power that he possesses.]]
* LastNameBasis: They only call each other by their surnames.
* MagicContractRomance: [[spoiler:They're bound by a master-servant magic contract because Honoka used Evermillion's power to bring Ayaka back to life when they were children. Ayaka is single-mindedly devoted to Honoka for saving her and Honoka loves her as a person despite her being his vassal according to the pact.]]
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Takamiya isn't really feminine and Kagari isn't really tomboyish, but he's a NonActionGuy and she's a powerful fire witch acting as his protector so they give off the vibe of this trope. Also, Takamiya is a more openly emotional NiceGuy while Kagari is very much TheStoic who only cares about Takamiya's safety.
* PerfectlyArrangedMarriage: They were set up to eventually get married by their mothers. Their genuine mutual feelings are pretty obvious, though.
* PowerDyesYourHair: The two's black hair becomes a lighter color when they tap into Evermillion's power.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: When tapping into Evermilion's powers, their eyes turn red like the demon's.
* RescueRomance: Ayaka has more than ample justification for being so devoted to Honoka, even if her memories of the event have been magically erased. [[spoiler:Honoka was the one who freed her from the imprisonment of her mother and became the vessel of Evermillion in order to save Ayaka's life.]]
* SleepCute: When they're driving a FlyingBroomstick together during Kagari's magic lesson, Takamiya falls asleep in Kagari's shoulder and she quietly enjoys the moment.

A seemingly ordinary boy who sits next to Ayaka Kagari, the school Chairwoman's daughter and the most popular girl in school. This position is a lot more trouble than it's worth, as those envious of him are not above physical assault. One day, while getting chores for the school done, he's nearly killed by a falling clock tower. This is when Kagari reveals the fact that she's a witch to him and saves his life. Takamiya soon finds out that there's something powerful sealed within him, and that dangerous witches known as the Tower Witches who will stop at nothing to capture him and steal it.
----
* AnimalMotifs: His room is decorated with penguin-related stuff, his pajamas have penguin patterns, and he carves wooden penguin figures. Even his {{familiar}} is a penguin.
* BarrierMaiden: [[spoiler:When Kazane is left powerless, Honoka performs the same pact as her so as to protect the city and enable the Workshop Witches to use magic again. It only works because he actually has enough power to do so.]]
* BerserkerTears: At the end of chapter 55, when he angrily confronts [[spoiler:Ayaka's birth mother]] for abusing the poor girl and forcing [[spoiler:Evermillion's spirit, or something like it into her in the first place.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: For Kasumi, despite the latter being a full-fledged Witch.
* BoyOfMyDreams: Before they met, Kagari had a recurring dream in which she saw Takamiya talking to her in a field. [[spoiler:She was actually remembering their time together as children.]]
* BrainwashedBride: RareMaleExample. [[spoiler:Honoka gets kidnapped and brainwashed by Kayou to force him into a wedding ceremony with her. Ayaka comes to rescue him.]]
* CallingTheOldManOut: In the pendant arc, he repeatedly calls out [[spoiler:Ayaka's birth mother]] on the cruel treatment she inflicted on her daughter. The bitch couldn't care less.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: If Honoka has the means to help someone he feels he should do it.
* CollectiveDeathGlare: He's a frequent target of such angry stares. Ayaka is [[DownplayedTrope almost]] a ClassPrincess (she isn't particularly nice to anyone aside from Honoka), worshipped by everyone at school, [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer mostly girls]]. Even a small interaction between her and Honoka causes the atmosphere to get cold and scary and all the girls shoot daggers at him. This is {{lampshaded}} by him.
-->'''Honoka:''' Their glares actually hurt...
* CovertPervert: When Ayaka tells him to picture a "strong mental image" to create a familiar, Honoka recalls the Ayaka in a swimsuit that he saw in his dream last night and the familiar he creates takes the form of a giant Ayaka in a NaughtyNurseOutfit.
* DisappearedDad: His father has never been shown in the series once. Oddly, he has been mentioned...but only in dreams.
* DistressedDude: He's the target of the Tower Witches, and they often end up capturing him, only for Ayaka or Kasumi to come in.
* TheDulcineaEffect: This turns to be the reason why he got Evermillion sealed inside him. [[spoiler:Just shortly after meeting Ayaka, Honoka decided to save her from her prison and became the vessel of Evermillion in order to save Ayaka's life.]]
* FacialMarkings: [[spoiler:After the seals start breaking different kinds of marks appear on his face when he uses his magic.]]
* FriendlessBackground: He doesn't have any friends at the start of the story.
* GenderBlenderName: Honoka is a Japanese girl's name. This is because Honoka was originally written as a girl. He was changed to a boy in the final version, but the feminine name was kept.
* HealingHands: As is revealed in chapter 56, he used to know healing magic that he applied by touch.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Honoka is Ayaka's reason to live, in more than one sense. [[spoiler:When Ayaka was about to die when she was a child, she had no will to live on her own. However, Honoka wanted to save her so he shared some of Evermillion's power with Ayaka to revive her in exchange of Ayaka living for the sake of protecting him.]]
* TheLoad: Acts like this for the most part, largely against his wishes, however. He wants to study magic so he can protect Ayaka and others he cares for, but she largely refuses to train him in it.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: He spent most of his life unaware of witches or the power inside of him. Kagari herself would have preferred that he lived in [[IgnoranceIsBliss happy ignorance]] of all the magical events surrounding him.
* MacGuffinSuperPerson: The Tower Witches are after him because he is the container of the "White Princess".
* MagicKiss: Several of the rituals to heal Ayaka with Evermillion's magic require Honoka to kiss her, but he [[AnywhereButTheirLips chooses a peck on the cheek or the forehead]] because he won't steal a kiss in the lips from an unconscious girl and luckily that's enough for it to work.
* MoralityChain: He's the only thing keeping Kagari's excessively violent tendencies in check.
* MoralityPet:
** Ayaka is friendly only towards Takamiya due to her everlasting love for him, as well as being understanding to his family. To everyone else, she will, at best, ignore them as irrelevant and, at worst, be hostile or insulting towards them.
** Shiori has a reputation as a very cold and scary witch who is feared even by her own daughter. Shiori becomes super nice and doting around Honoka because his mother was a very important friend who defended her from bullying in high school.
* NervesOfSteel: In Chapters 54 and 55, he's shown walking up and talking to a fire kitsune, over twice his size, and a girl chained to a wall, ''through the back of her neck'' without showing a hint of fear and doing an exemplary job of demonstrating himself to be completely non-threatening.
* NiceGuy: A very polite and kind-hearted guy.
* NonActionGuy: He has no combat skills or any magic powers, although not by choice. He wants to learn how to fight, but Kagari won't train him for some reason, and instead only focuses on showing him techniques to escape. By episode 9, she relents, although only because Kasumi was planning to teach him in secret, which she [[ClingyJealousGirl isn't too fond of.]]
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: He describes himself as an average student with no real talents or special abilities within ''thirty seconds'' (discounting the title sequence) of the start of the series. It turns out that in fact, there are a number of witches out to kill him for some reason, and the SchoolIdol is a LadyOfBlackMagic whose mission is to protect him.
* PowerIncontinence: [[spoiler:After the events with Weekend in the manga, Takamiya begins displaying enhanced physical and mental capabilities. There's also the matter of a giant ''penguin'' showing up out of nowhere in full view of everyone - witches and muggles alike.]]
* {{Protectorate}}: Kagari's sole motivation is to protect Takamiya at all costs.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: [[spoiler:After the second seal is broken when using his power his eyes turn red just like Evermillion's.]]
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: In chapter 55, he does this to Kazane! She goes on to ''congratulate him for it.''
* SecretKeeper: He is told not to tell [[{{Muggles}} others]] about the existence of witches. So naturally, he tries not to tell his sister about it, until he finds out she's a witch as well, and the one secretly protecting him whenever Ayaka isn't.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: Several characters make a point of how he's very close to Ayaka in their interactions, although he's quick to point out there's nothing romantic going on between them.
* ShownTheirWork: The way he delivered first aid to Ayaka in chapter 56 is spot on. 1.) Remove the patient from imminent danger. 2.) Do whatever you can to stop the bleeding with bandages and direct pressure (provided the wound isn't penetrated by foreign objects). 3.) Assess the full extent of the injuries. 4.) Call for emergency services. (Although 4 wasn't possible due to the threat of the Kagari matriarch who was trying to kill both of them.)
* StaringDownCthulhu: He glares down [[spoiler:Ayaka's birth mother.]]
* StrongFamilyResemblance: He has the same face as his mother.
* StudentCouncilPresident: The student council president (and most of the student body) oppose [[SchoolIdol Ayaka Kagari]] getting close to Honoka Takamiya. In response, Ayaka uses her power as Princess to depose the president and install Honoka as her replacement. She also takes over the post of vice president and demotes the original vice president to "Vice-vice president."
* WalkingTheEarth: It's later revealed that he traveled all over the world when he was younger, [[spoiler:under the tutelage of Kazane]]. However, he had the memories of his travels erased at some point.
* WillingChanneler: He willingly chose to enter a contract with Evermillion and have her reside inside his body [[spoiler:in order to save Ayaka's life]].
* WouldntHitAGirl: He can't bring himself to hit a woman, even in self-defense.
* WowingCthulhu: His bravery and kindness impresses even Evermillion in chapter 56.

The daughter of Kazane Kagari. She's wealthy, beautiful, and intelligent, and has sworn her life to protecting Takamiya from anyone who would harm him or take him away from her.
----
* TheAce: While she is a bit odd, she is the top student at Tougetsu Academy, admired for both her beauty and intellect, knows various forms of martial arts, and is quite a powerful witch as well.
* ActionGirl: One of the strongest witches in the series. Even without her magic, she can still outmatch several opponents with just her monstrous physical strength, all thanks to a massive TrainingFromHell from her mother.
* ActionGirlfriend: Ayaka is a powerful witch who suddenly enters Takamiya's life and for some reason is devoted to protecting him at all costs.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: She has long black hair, is at least a head taller than the protagonist and most of the other students at her school, displays an aloof and reserved personality and is the most popular person in her school and even has her own fan club. She even provides the trope picture!
* AlwaysSaveTheBoy: For Ayaka, Takamiya's safety comes first. No ands, ifs, or buts.
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:She was killed by Kazane when she was eleven years old because Ayaka's birth mother Kayou had turned Ayaka into Evermillion's vessel with the intention of using her as a magic weapon. Honoka made a contract with Evermillion in exchange for the demon resurrecting Ayaka.]]
* BerserkButton: Don't even try to touch her hair. Ayaka knocked out a group of seniors who tried to cut it by raising their body temperature.
* {{BFS}}: Summons one when things get serious.
* BodyguardCrush: Her mission in life is to protect Takamiya. Not only she seems quite pleased to perform the task, but she also won't allow anybody to separate them.
* BridalCarry: Her favorite method for carrying Takamiya.
* BroughtDownToBadass: Even without her magic, she's still nearly unstoppable, which bites the Tower witches in the ass multiple times.
* BullyingADragon: Despite Ayaka defeating them several times before, Tanpopo's group continually tries to fight her. In fact, even older, more seasoned witches take care when treading around her.
* BuxomBeautyStandard: She has a well-endowed bust that tends to [[DistractedByTheSexy distract]] Takamiya from time to time, especially since shes also a StatuesqueStunner that towers over him, making her chest be right at his eye-level.
* TheChampion: Kagari is Takamiya's knight. For Takamiya's sake, Kagari will do ''anything''. [[spoiler:When she almost died as a child, Evermillion performed a ritual to turn Ayaka into Honoka's vassal so she would live to protect him.]]
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Thanks to her mother's TrainingFromHell, Ayaka has superhuman strength and can easily defeat witches without needing to use magic.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Although more subtle about it than Kasumi, she doesn't like other girls stealing Takamiya's attention. That and she will visit DisproportionateRetribution upon anyone who makes any sort of move on Takamiya in her presence.
* TheComicallySerious: Due to her monotone voice and reactions, she often comes off this way when replying to others, especially Takamiya.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:The Kagari household had her chained to a wall in a dark, cubed room, with no contact with the outside world, and specifically raised her as a LivingWeapon which the Matriarch was just itching to "show off."]]
* DeadpanSnarker: She doesn't joke ''too'' often, but when she does her effect is so dry Takamiya often can't even tell.
* DeclarationOfProtection: She swears to protect Takamiya because he's her "princess".
* {{Determinator}}: She ''will'' protect Takamiya, even if she has to go against her own ''mother''.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: The plot is about Ayaka as much as it is about Honoka and the main mystery is revolved around the relationship between the two.
* DevotedToYou: Kagari is utterly devoted to Takamiya. She went to every middle school to search for him until she located him, completely ignores her fangirls at school in favor of him, and is willing to do anything to protect him and ensure they can be together.
* EffortlessAmazonianLift: She {{bridal carr|y}}ies [[NonActionGuy Honoka]] even without the use of magic all the time, signifying her strength and ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend status.
* EmotionalPowers: Often her fire magic flares up depending on her mood. This leads to hilarious situations where while Ayaka is completely deadpan, things in the background are being lit on fire.
* EmpathicHealer: Any wounds done to Honoka are instantly transferred to Ayaka.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: She's the tall, cool type, constantly surrounded by a huge female fan club. So when she decides to stop guarding Takamiya from the shadows and spend the day by his side, he is instantly hated.
* EveryScarHasAStory: She has a mysterious scar on her belly that even she can remember how she got it. [[spoiler:In chapter 56, it's finally revealed that Kazane was the one responsible for the scar, when she fatally injured Ayaka to destroy Kayou's experimental vessel for Evermillion.]]
* ExtremeDoormat: When she was a child, she was so traumatized by her birth mother that she was physically and mentally unable to resist any of her birth mother's orders, no matter how cruel or unreasonable. [[spoiler:Evermillion, who was sealed inside her at the time was ''pissed'' as a direct result.]]
* FacepalmOfDoom: One favorite non-magical move of hers is the iron claw.
* FieryStoic: She's a fire witch who keeps a coolheaded and aloof attitude frequently. However, she sure is passionate about protecting Honoka.
* FlamingHair: When she activates her witch powers over fire, her hair is correspondingly WreathedInFlames.
* FormFittingWardrobe: Her school uniform accentuates her voluptuous figure.
* FunWithHomophones: Honoka had to change Ayaka's name [[spoiler:in order to form a contract with her and save her life]] but was adamant that she have the same name; So Evermillion cleverly exchanges the 香 (''-ka'', meaning "aroma") in her name with 火 (also ''-ka'', meaning "[[MeaningfulName fire]]", which is coincidentally also in Honoka's name).
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: She's a beautiful and elegant {{Ojou}} whose hobby is pro wrestling.
* GoodIsNotNice: She is one of the heroes, but is also not very friendly to most people.
* HappilyAdopted: Chapter 53 of the manga reveals that [[spoiler:Kazane Kagari is not Ayaka's birth mother, and isn't even really a Kagari, she's a Houzuki, and only became involved with the Kagari family when the Family head, a powerful witch in her own right, hired her to deal with a "fire Kitsune" that was harassing the head house which she couldn't deal with, due to having a "medical procedure" done.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: When Honoka offers his life to Evermillion to restore the city that Weekend destroyed, Ayaka uses her past pact with Evermillion to have the demon use her life instead. Honoka can revive her later.
* HimeCut: She has symmetrical straight bangs, bra strap length sidelocks, and classic-length straight hair. She's an AloofDarkHairedGirl and an {{Ojou}}.
* HotWitch: She is revered by nearly everyone in her school as the ideal beauty, being an AloofDarkHairedGirl with green eyes, a large bust, a [[FormFittingWardrobe skin-tight uniform]], and ZettaiRyouiki. In a literal sense, her magical powers mainly revolve around [[PlayingWithFire fire]].
* HugeSchoolgirl: She stands at 197 cm (or around 6 feet 6 inches), which allows her to tower over her love interest Honoka and just about everyone else.. This was actually ''toned down'' in the anime adaptation, where she's "merely" half a head higher than Honoka, rather than his barely reaching her shoulders.
* HumanPincushion: Chapter 2 has Ayaka getting stabbed by dozens of swords from Tanpopo's bunny familiar army when Ayaka protects Honoka. She comes out unharmed because [[ElementalShapeshifter she can change her body into fire]].
* IdiotHair: She has a strand of hair sticking up atop her head. It's more notable in the anime.
* IndifferentBeauty: She's considered the most beautiful person in her school, she even has her own [[InstantFanClub fan club]]. However, due to her aloof personality and her devotion to Takamiya, she's apathetic towards admiration she gets.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: In episode 8, she wears a NaughtyNurseOutfit to do a check up on Takamiya. And is quite persistent on laying on top of him while doing so. This doesn't sit too well with Kasumi, who happens to walk in on them.
* InstantFanClub: She's so popular at school that she has an adoring fan club that schedules mass lunches with her and an extremely enthusiastic self-proclaimed guard squad. They try to interfere with her relationship with Honoka Takamiya until she puts her foot down.
* IOweYouMyLife: Takamiya once saved their lives when they were both children. The incident was so traumatic, the Workshop witches under Kazane locked up both hers and Takamiya's memories of it. However, Ayaka still retains her devotion to Takamiya due to the event.
* IWillFindYou: A dream that Takamiya has in the first part of episode 8 has Kagari, when she was in middle school, go to every other middle school in order to find him. She finally locates him leaving school one day, and approaches him, only to find Kasumi walking with him with her arms around his.
* JerkassToOne: Subverted. She is friendly only towards Takamiya and his family. To everyone else, especially her fan club, she will, at best, ignore them as irrelevant and, at worst, be hostile or insulting towards them.
* KungFuWizard: She is well versed in hand to hand combat thanks to her mother's insane training.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: The beautiful and reserved princess of the school, and a [[PlayingWithFire Fire]] [[HotWitch Witch]] able to cast powerful flames. However, she's also [[KungFuWizard more than capable of physical combat]].
* LivingWeapon: Chapter 54 of the manga reveals that she was "created" to be one.
* MeaningfulRename: While her name has always been read as Ayaka, the "ka" in her given name was originally written with the kanji for "incense". Honoka changed it for the "fire" kanji [[spoiler:in order to resurrect Ayaka as his vassal due to Evermillion being a fire demon]].
* MentorArchetype: She takes Takamiya as her disciple.
* MinorInjuryOverreaction: Freaks out when Honoka scrapes his elbow during training.
* MrsHypothetical: She once spent a whole night writing out "Takamiya Ayaka" ([[TookTheWifesName and at least one "Kagari Honoka"]]) while watching over Honoka.
* MuggingTheMonster: In middle school, a trio of bullies resented her popularity and tried to deface her hair while hiding behind Senpai-Kohai custom. She raised their body temperatures until they collapsed, with the explicit threat that if they tried again, she would ''literally'' make their blood boil.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Her cloak allows her to do this, but even when she was drained of magic she's still absurdly strong despite her slender, feminine build. She is capable of ripping a large tree out of the ground.
* NobodyTouchesTheHair: Although Takamiya doesn't remember due to magical LaserGuidedAmnesia, he once risked his own life, as a child, to save her, and all he asked in return is for her to let her hair grow longer, so she'd be pretty. So messing with it is the one thing, aside from threatening Honoka that will piss her off.
* NominalHero: Despite being a main character, she doesn't care about anything but protecting Honoka. During Weekend's bomber attack on the city, Ayaka wanted to focus on doing her test with Honoka and only went after Weekend because her attack almost ruined her precious school life with Honoka. She wouldn't have done anything to save the city or the Workshop Witches otherwise.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: With Honoka, often sleeping in his bed without his knowledge and even tries sitting on his lap during breakfast at one point.
* NoSocialSkills: Due to her stoicism and lack of interest in anything that doesn't involve Takamiya, Ayaka can be quite awkward in social situations. A flashback to her middle school days reveals that she used to be even worse as she had to be told to answer when the teacher called her name. [[spoiler:This makes a lot sense when it's revealed that Ayaka's birth mother raised her as a test subject and forced her to live in a cell until Takamiya rescued her.]]
* NotSoStoic: She's usually unflappable, but easily loses her cool if someone tries to harm Takamiya.
* {{Ojou}}: Being the SchoolIdol and the daughter of the Head Workshop Witch leads those around her to treat her like an actual princess.
* OneHeadTaller: Kagari is at ''least'' a head taller than Takamiya.
* PlayingWithFire: Her default magical attacks are all fire-based.
* PowerIncontinence: Kagari, while generally stoic and in control, will spontaneously set things on fire or raise the temperature around her when angry or excited. This happens most often when people bring up Takamiya around her, especially in a romantic context.
* ThePowerOfLove: The more intimate she is with Honoka, the more powerful she becomes. A humorous example is when she had him [[LapPillow lay his head on her lap]] [[EarCleaning while cleaning his ears]], making her power skyrocket.
* TheQuietOne: When not instructing Takamiya, she almost never speaks.
* RaisedAsAHost: [[spoiler:She's one of Kayou's daughters that were birthed with the sole objective of creating the perfect vessel for Evermillion.]]
* RenamedTheSame: Ayaka's birth name is written as 綾香. To [[spoiler:save her life]], Honoka changed her name's second kanji to 火 yet both names are pronounced as "Ayaka" because Honoka didn't want to change the spelling.
* RepetitiveName: Her given name and family name contain the kanji 火, meaning fire. Originally, her given name didn't include that kanji, but Honoka changed it [[spoiler:to save her life by making her his vassal]].
* SacrificedBasicSkillForAwesomeTraining: Her mother trained her from a young age in everything from magic to hand-to-hand combat (the latter apparently involving Ayaka having to defeat vicious animals unarmed). This made Ayaka clueless about everything involving a normal school life when she first attended middle school.
* SatelliteLoveInterest: She has little to no personality outside of her devotion to Honoka and every single of her actions are motivated by her desire to protect him. This turns out to be {{justified|trope}} [[spoiler:because Ayaka had nothing in her life before she met Honoka due to being raised as an experiment by her evil birth mother. Since Honoka didn't want to let the poor girl die, he resurrected her as his vassal so that she would live for the sole purpose of protecting him.]]
* ScarSurvey: What truly motivates both Honoka and herself to rediscovered their lost memories is that Ayaka's abdominal scar is revealed when her swimsuit is torn.
* SchoolIdol: Ayaka is the "princess" of her school because she's very beautiful and incredibly popular with her female schoolmates. Interestingly, she's too cold and aloof to be a ClassPrincess but also too apathetic and introverted to be an AlphaBitch either, landing her solely on this trope instead.
* SchoolUniformsAreTheNewBlack: She rarely wears anything besides her school uniform.
* SexyMentor: Takamiya asks her to be his magic teacher because he wants to become a wizard and fight alongside her. Ayaka being an AloofDarkHairedGirl beauty ''and'' his love interest can distract him a little when she teaches him some magic, though.
* SingleTargetSexuality: She loves Honoka only.
* StalkerShrine: {{Exaggerated|Trope}}. She built an ''underground museum'' dedicated to Honoka at the Takamiya residence. There, she keeps thousands of pictures, albums, and handmade dolls of Honoka.
* StalkerWithACrush: More sympathetic than other examples, but her single-minded obsession with Honoka and her insistence to watch over him 24/7 definitely throw her into stalker territory. When Kasumi and Tanpopo inspect her bedroom to search for evidence that Ayaka is a stalker, they almost immediately find Ayaka's "Takamiya Observation Journal, Vol. 1,053" and a secret cellar covered with stalker photos of Honoka.
* StalkingIsLove: Takamiya once finds Kagari's secret basement where she keeps her many stalker photos of him. All Takamiya says to Kagari is that he's happy to see how hard she works to keep an eye on him.
* StatuesqueStunner: She stands at 197 cm (or around 6 feet 4 inches), towering over ''everyone'' and Honoka barely reaching her chest (although the size seems to change from chapter to chapter). She's also an AloofDarkHairedGirl with G-cup breasts, classic-length hair (except when she is in battle, where it becomes fire-like), and a very nice body. It shows in the many, many, ''many'' instances where she carries Honoka bride style.
* StevenUlyssesPerhero: The "ka" in her given name and surname means "fire". A perfect name for a fire witch.
* TheStoic: Her seemingly cool disregard for anything mundane only makes her even more popular.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: [[spoiler:She looks almost exactly like her birth mother Kayou, but with a different hair color.]]
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Despite being a fire witch, she's usually cold as ice and rarely even acknowledges others. With Honoka, however, she dotes on him constantly and is as sugary sweet as she can manage (i.e. still very serene but clearly affectionate).
* SupremeChef: She is an amazing chef who at one point made Honoka fugu hotpot.
* SweetTooth: Like mother, Ayaka likes having sugar with tea instead of tea with sugar.
* TouchedByVorlons: [[spoiler:The origin of her powerful fire magic is her connection to the fire demon Evermillion, both as the previous host before Honoka ''and'' having been brought back from the brink of death by Evermillion's power.]]
* TrainingFromHell: Apparently, Kazane had her fight bears and other large animals [[HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood as a child]]. Though it looks cruel, this training does help her deal with the Tower witches that attack the town, and Honoka.
* TranquilFury: She is often strangely calm whenever fighting.
* TsurimeEyes: She has narrow, upward arching eyes, fitting her personality as an AloofDarkHairedGirl.
* TykeBomb: The patriarch of the Kagari family ''brags'' that [[spoiler:she was "created" for the express purpose of being a weapon, and she's ecstatic that Honoka and Kazane stumble upon her because she gets to "show her creation off".]]
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: When something interrupts her precious school life with Takamiya and/or comes between them, TranquilFury and DisproportionateRetribution abound. Not even family is safe.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: It seems that burning and blowing things up is her method of dealing with trouble. And when that doesn't work, there is always GoodOldFisticuffs.

Ayaka's mother, head of the Workshop Witches in the city, and the chairwoman of Togetsu High School.
----
* ActionMom: She's even stronger than her daughter Ayaka, who is one of the strongest, if not the strongest, of the student witches. [[spoiler:Even when Ayaka merged with Medusa, their combined power still wasn't enough to overcome Kazane, who simply broke through the [[TakenForGranite stone spell]] and forcefully ejected Medusa from her daughter.]]
* TheAgeless: She doesn't look like she has aged a day since she met Komachi at high school. If her claims about her past are to be believed, she has been around for centuries without ever aging.
* AlliterativeName: '''Ka'''zane '''Ka'''gari.
* ApologeticAttacker: She apologizes in advance for attacking Ayaka with a magical blade in chapter 56.
* BadassTeacher: She was ''very'' protective of her apprentice [[spoiler:Honoka]], to the point of punching someone in the face if they as much tried to stop her from getting him out of danger. [[spoiler:Even now, she's still willing to go against all the Workshop witches if they ever try to harm Honoka in case all of Evermillion's seals are broken.]]
* BarrierMaiden: [[spoiler:She maintains a city-wide magic field that prevents civilians from being injured or killed by magical attacks. While this does drain her magic whenever this happens, it has been noted that Kazane has such vast magical power that even if a few buildings got blown up, it would barely faze her. When a massive magic explosion that damages much of the city is caused by the witch Weekend, it ultimately renders her powerless for a week... Which means that the other Workshop Witches are unable to perform magic as well.]] Then in episode 12, Chronoire reveals [[spoiler:that Kazane managed to recover her full strength in a mere 20 hours, rather than a week as Weekend had predicted. Kazane simply waited it out because she wanted to see what the other witches, particularly her daughter Ayaka, would do during this crisis.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She is ''furious'' when her mansion is destroyed and goes after Chronoire Schwartz VI, whom she deems responsible, to have "a little talk" with her.
* BigGood: The closest thing to one in this series. She keeps an eye out for Tower witches in her town, and regularly fixes the damage caused by witches, especially ones caused by Ayaka and Kasumi.
* BoyishShortHair: She has short hair to show she's a masculine and strong witch.
* BullyHunter: Back in high school, Komachi was picked on by their classmates and Kazane didn't let them get away with it. Let's just say her class didn't bug Komachi after Kazane almost destroyed the classroom while beating the crap out of the bullies.
* FormerTeenRebel: She was the leader of a gang during high school.
* FriendlyEnemy: Chronoire introduces herself when she comes to Kazane's town as the two share a drink together.
* GoodIsNotNice: She orders a witch hunt for Chrono after her mansion is destroyed. Later, when Chronoire is seen again, she's heavily bandaged up, and Kazane seems a bit too eager to torture information out of Medusa before she's taken away by other Workshop witches that have jurisdiction over her. [[spoiler:She also put the smackdown on her daughter Ayaka after the latter merged with Medusa.]]
* GoodOldFisticuffs: What she tends to resort to, regardless of using her magic or not. As evidenced by her punching Chronoire rather far away in episode 12, she is quite a deadly hitter.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: In an omake, Kazane reminisces about having taken part in the Crusades and the French Revolution. Ayaka also says Kazane claims to have been a member of the UsefulNotes/{{Shinsengumi}}, though Ayaka is hesitant to believe her.
* HiddenDepths: Is an amateur doll maker, carving them to kill time while she was put out of commission by Weekend. Her house is littered with the things.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: Her bangs cover the right half of her face to hide her missing right eye, which was taken from her in a fight.
* HornedHumanoid: When she gets angry, a horn grows out of her forehead.
* KnewItAllAlong: Even though much of the pre-Weekend arc involved Ayaka and Honoka trying to hide from her that Honoka unsealed Evermillion, Chapter 88 reveals that their shenanigans weren't as fruitful as they thought, and she figured it out rather quickly.
* KungFuWizard: She apparently prefers hand to hand combat instead of magic. [[spoiler:Her magic is being used to protect the city and its inhabitants from harm so she doesn't have much of a choice in that.]]
* LikeASonToMe: She tells Ayaka that she thinks of Honoka as her own son [[spoiler:because he was her apprentice for some time in his childhood]].
* ManipulativeBitch: A sympathetic example. [[spoiler:When she was in high school, Komachi was fatally injured in an accident. Panicking, Kazane took her to Shiori Mikage's home and proceeded to give Komachi a blood transfusion which would speed up her recovery. However, doing so meant Komachi was at risk of literally being erased from the world. Which is why Kazane went to Shiori instead of the hospital as she knew Shiori would never, ever risk Komachi's life and thus would erase the event from the memories of the city.]]
* MumLooksLikeASister: She can easily be mistaken for Ayaka's older sister.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast:
** Her nicknames were "Dragon Tooth" and "Torturer". She asks Chronoire if the latter remembers that at the very end of episode 5 after her mansion is destroyed. Later in episode 7, Chronoire is seen with bandages, implying Kazane did things to her.
** She has the distinction of being labeled [[TheDreaded End Witch]] - her particular title is ''Bad End'' as she has killed quite a few witches during her years.
* NeckLift: In the memory tour during chapter 55, she lifts Takamiya by the throat because he disobeyed her orders, then smirks, puts him down, and ''congratulates him'' for doing it, because he was right.
* TheNoseKnows: In the pendant arc, she tracks Honoka by his scent.
* OneWomanArmy: In a flashback, when she noticed Komachi being bullied by an entire classroom, [[AdultsAreUseless teachers absent or completely unconcerned,]] she only gave a quick one-liner about "horrible people," the bullies barely even having a chance to verbally respond, before she single-handedly trounced the entire classroom, barring Ms. Honoka. Some of the thugs even wound up head-first ''in the ceiling.''
** [[spoiler:In the world of the witches, she has killed quite a few in her heyday, both in her quest for more power and later on as a 'cleaner'.]]
* PlayAlongPrisoner:
** In the Weekend arc, Kazane is put out of action by a massive magical attack that Weekend estimates would leave her powerless for a week. At the end of the arc, she reveals that she'd actually regained her power in a day and was just hanging around her cell to see how the younger generation of witches, including her daughter, Kagari, would handle the crisis. And to spend some time indulging in her hobby of crafting kokeshi dolls.
** In the latest arc, she does it again when Honoka is being tried as being a traitor to the Workshop. She makes a little show of not being able to get out of the holding cell that was placed around her to keep her from taking Honoka. It doesn't last very long [[spoiler:as her arch-nemesis showed up and she ripped through the bars in a flash to try to save Honoka]].
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: She looks slightly older than her teenage daughter Ayaka, but if her comments about having being around during the French Revolution are to be taken seriously, she has lived for a ''long'' time.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She doesn't try to stop Ayaka despite the latter's tendency to cause a lot of destruction around the city while protecting Honoka.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: When she and her daughter Ayaka drink tea, their teacups have more sugar cubes than tea.
* ShipperOnDeck: For Kagari and Takamiya, due to an agreement with his mother years earlier that their kids would marry each other.
* ShootTheDog: [[spoiler:She cuts Ayaka with a magical blade to disrupt the ritual the Kagari matron was using to summon and abuse Evermillion, which would have killed Ayaka anyway.]]
* SignificantGreenEyedRedhead: She has dark red hair and green eyes. She also bears an important role as the head of the Workshop Witches.
* SmokingIsCool: Rarely seen without a cigarette in hand. Even when [[spoiler:she's kept under prison by Weekend,]] all she can think of is taking a smoke to kill time.
* SoProudOfYou: To Honoka Takamiya, and she should be. [[spoiler:In chapter 55, he was willing to defy her and come to Ayaka's rescue by cutting the chain holding Ayaka to the wall.]] She only made certain he knew full well what he was getting into, and was prepared for the consequences.
* StatuesqueStunner: One of several things Ayaka inherited from her. She's ''at least'' as tall as her daughter, and wear heels on top of that.
* SweetTooth: Rather than drinking tea with sugar, she has sugar with tea.
* WouldHurtAChild: [[spoiler:She killed Ayaka when she was 11 to seal off [[SealedInAPersonShapedCan Evermillion]], though she viewed it as much a MercyKill as anything. As noted above, Kayou was planning to kill Ayaka anyway.]]

Honoka's younger sister, who also happens to be a Workshop Witch. She has an extreme brother complex with Honoka.
----
* ActionGirl: Though not shown right away, she is one of the more powerful witches, and takes out two Tower witches at the same time. Only Ayaka and Weekend's minions prove to be more than she can handle.
* AffectionateNickname: Her friend calls her "Miya".
* AnimalMotifs: She's closely associated with bears as her main {{Familiar}} is a giant teddy bear.
* BelievingTheirOwnLies: Kasumi openly wants to marry her own brother and have babies with him, yet she denies having romantic or sexual attraction for him. Her excuse is that two people can get married without loving each other romantically. Also, Kasumi believes sex isn't required to have children because [[MissConception the stork will take care of it]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She largely seems harmless at first. But once Takamiya comes under attack or she sees some bullies tormenting someone, she delivers a beatdown on the attackers.
* BigBrotherAttraction: ZigZagged. She denies that her feelings towards her older brother Honoka are anything but sibling affection... even though she insists in ''sleeping'' together and ''bathing'' together and gets ''jealous'' of his brother's almost-girlfriend... In chapter 31, however, it is revealed that she views sexual love between male and female to be disgusting. She still wants to marry her brother and have his babies, but doesn't believe having sex with him is required to do any of that.
* BigSisterInstinct: Inverted. She became a witch so she could protect her older brother from danger.
* BrokenPedestal: PlayedWith. When she and Yoshiko first met, Yoshiko thought of Kasumi as an angel or a perfect hero who saved her from her friendless status and stood up to bullies. She started to realize Kasumi isn't all that wonderful when Kasumi casually admitted she only became friends with Yoshiko because the latter's [[AnimeHair hairstyle]] is funny. Learning of Kasumi's borderline incestuous obsession with her older brother shattered her ideal image of Kasumi even more. However, Yoshiko still thinks of Kasumi as her best friend despite all this.
* BrutalHonesty: When Yoshiko asked her why she became friends with her, Kasumi answered point-blank that she thought [[AnimeHair Yoshiko's hairstyle was funny]].
* BullyHunter: She despises bullies and whenever she sees people bullying, she fights them. It's partly because she knows her mother was bullied when she was a teenager, and partly because her master is "Bear-Killer Rinon" who is implied to beat her down if she doesn't beat down bullies herself.
* TheChampion: Same as Ayaka, Kasumi became a Workshop Witch not in order to protect the city, but to protect the city her brother lives in.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She wants to monopolize her brother in every way possible, which makes her clash with Ayaka who loves him just as much. She didn't take it well when Ayaka said she was going to watch over him 24/7 when they had previously agreed to let Kasumi watch over him everywhere other than at school.
* CovertPervert: Kasumi wraps herself in her older brother's unwashed school uniform every night. When she starts thinking that's not enough, she asks Alciana to ''transform her into her brother's uniform so he can wear her''. Alciana calls her a pervert, yet Kasumi can only give unconvincing denials.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: She has pink hair and pink eyes.
* TheDogBitesBack: In middle school, some {{Alpha Bitch}}es doodled over Kasumi's desk because she chose to hang out with the unpopular Yoshiko over them. Kasumi went to give them a lesson and they never tried to mess with her again.
* ExpressiveHair: Her IdiotHair can take the shape of a heart when she's with Honoka.
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: Her bedroom is filled with stuffed animals given to her by Honoka. Although, the real reason why she asked Honoka to give her so many is because her magic allows her to turn them into her {{Familiar}}s.
* GirlyBruiser: She loves pink, stuffed animals, sweets, and her ideal world is made of all sort of girly things. Her master is ''Bear-Killer Rinon'' - leaving no doubt from where Kasumi learned her "strongarm tactics".
* HypocriticalHumor:
** When she and her friend Yoshiko watch an anime with BrotherSisterIncest, Kasumi says siblings falling in love is gross. Yoshiko is baffled because Kasumi is ''very'' open about her desire to marry her own older brother. Kasumi tries to deny her love for her brother has any impure meaning because she claims she doesn't want to have sex with him.
** She wants to show Honoka proof that Ayaka is a StalkerWithACrush, hoping that'll turn him off. Tanpopo comments that if Honoka really had a problem with stalkers, he would have gotten sick of Kasumi long ago.
* IResembleThatRemark: When Tanpopo calls her a brocon for being so obsessed with her brother, Kasumi denies her feelings for Honoka are anything more than normal familial love... She just wants to make Honoka her husband and have three children with him.
* IdiotHair: She has a curly lock of hair standing atop her head.
* IncestantAdmirer: She's Takamiya's younger blood-related sister, but forces him to bathe with her, insists on trying to marry and produce at least three children with him, and is a total pervert in denial that has repeatedly tried to get herself turned into his school clothes, regardless of his objections. He's resigned to it because his father is missing and his mother is a useless crybaby, making him feel responsible for pampering Kasumi.
* InsaneTrollLogic:
** She insists that wanting to sleep in her older brother's bed, take baths with him, marry him in the future, and ''become his school uniform'' doesn't mean she's a brocon pervert. It's all part of her rights as his little sister because siblings must naturally do everything together from cradle to grave.
** When Yoshiko tries to make Kasumi understand getting married to Honoka would be BrotherSisterIncest, Kasumi argues that two people can get married without being in love and she won't need to have sex with her brother because [[MissConception her mother told her a stork will deliver babies to a happy married couple]]. After that, Yoshiko gives up on making Kasumi see the obvious incestuous implications of two siblings getting married.
* JerkassToOne: Kasumi is a pretty nice girl. She's only antagonistic to Ayaka because the latter stops her from spending all her time with her brother.
* LittleSisterHeroine: She's Honoka's cute little sister who adores him so much that she wants to marry him. This puts her at odds with Honoka's love interest. Curiously, Kasumi denies wanting her brother all to herself means she has romantic or sexual feelings for him.
* MarionetteMaster: Her magic allows her to control the stuffed animals given to her by Honoka.
* MissConception: PlayedWith. Kasumi ''did'' learn about how babies are made in health class, but she still insists she doesn't need to have sex with her brother to have his children. She was told by her mother that when two people "reach the climax of their happiness" the stork will deliver a baby. Kasumi thinks that sex is a different method of having a baby, but it just sounds gross to her.
* OddFriendship: She unexpectedly becomes close friends with the Tower Witch Tanpopo because [[EnemyMine they bond over their mutual enmity for Ayaka]].
* RoseHairedSweetie: She has dark pink hair and is very energetic and affectionate towards her brother. She's also a quite nice person to anyone who isn't Ayaka or a bully.
* SelfProclaimedLoveInterest: She claims her brother is her future husband. Strangely, she ''still'' denies it when people say she has a brother complex because of it.
* StalkerWithACrush: She has a habit of stalking Honoka when he's hanging out with Ayaka instead of her.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Despite her different hair color, she looks a lot like her mother.
* SweetTooth: In her ideal world, Kasumi can have all kinds of dessert for breakfast.

----
* ChildhoodFriends: She has known Kagari since middle-school.
* ElementalHairColors: She's an ice witch with ice blue hair.
* AnIcePerson: Just from a mere touch she can freeze objects. Like Ayaka, she also can manipulate the temperature around her.
* NiceGirl: She's very polite and friendly.
* PowerIncontinence: She seems to have no conscious control over her ice powers and they mostly manifest when she feels threatened, though not necessarily in a way that would help. Examples include tripping onto a parfait and freezing it solid, spontaneously creating a snowman to hide behind, freezing herself into a block of ice when bullied by Kagari, and creating a glacier when Kagari throws her into a pack of Tower witches.
* StevenUlyssesPerhero: Touko means "frozen child" and Hio means "ice tail". She's a witch with ice powers.

* ExoticEyeDesigns: Of the cross-shaped pupil variety.
* ImpossiblyCoolClothes: She wears a yellow hoodie with a skeletal trim at the back and a horn with red crosses, attached to one side of her costume hood.
* InSeriesNickname: "Bear-Killer Rinon".

A chemistry teacher at Honoka's high school. He also recruits witches throughout the city for the Workshop.
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: He seems to be conspiring with Chronoire to break all the seals on Evermillion for some yet unknown reason. Despite this, he's still considered a Workshop witch as he does help out Honoka and Ayaka.
* {{Brainwashed}}: Chapter 38 revealed that his sister had Touko brainwash him in his sleep into seeing Honoka as a prince.
* CoolUncle: His niece Natsume adores him a little too much, even keeping a giant poster of him in her apartment. She understands why Ayaka thinks Kyouichirou is a weirdo for calling Honoka a prince, but she blames it on her mother's brainwashing and wants to help her uncle be normal again.
* LabcoatOfScienceAndMedicine: At school, he wears a labcoat because of his job as a chemistry teacher.
* MemoryWipingCrew: He helps manage the memories of the non-witch population whenever parts of the city get destroyed by magic.
* MissionControl: While the Worshop witches are fighting Weekend and her minions, he stays at the PocketDimension where all the civilians have been evacuated in the form of stars.
* MistakenForGay: Ayaka thinks Kyouichirou is a DepravedHomosexual because he tries to dote on Honoka and calls him "his prince". Later on, Natsume reveals Kyouichirou is like this because her mother is so obsessed with making her family into Honoka's servants that she made another witch brainwash Kyouichirou in his sleep.
* NonActionGuy: He doesn't do much fighting, although he states to Honoka that male witches don't have nearly the same power or social status as the female ones in witch society, hence why he doesn't do nearly as much as the female characters do.
* SquishyWizard: He isn't a combat-oriented wizard. His spells are focused on memory manipulation and transferring people's consciousness into another dimension.

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Natsume has an unhealthy infatuation with her own uncle because he's the only one who treated her kindly when her mother emotionally abused her.
* ClingyJealousGirl: When she thinks Weekend is sleeping with her uncle, Natsume immediately tries to stab her with a knife.
* DatePeepers: A bonus chapter is about Natsume spying on Kyouichirou's "date" with Weekend at the karaoke. She even hacks the karaoke box's security cameras to keep an eye on them.
* HideYourOtherness: She wears gloves to hide the marks on her hands that she got because of her mother's contract with a spider demon.
* MonochromaticEyes: Her eyes are completely blue with no white nor pupils.

* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: She's the only student witch to wear glasses and specializes in analysis.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: She closely resembles her mother, just younger and less stern-looking.
* TeacherStudentRomance: Kyouichirou is her school's chemistry teacher, as well as her uncle. Due to her mother being abusive to her, Natsume is infatuated with Kyouichirou because he has always been nice to her.
* TrouserSpace: She can pull out knives from the back of her skirt.
* {{Yandere}}: PlayedForLaughs. In a bonus chapter, when Natsume suspects Kyouichirou is dating Weekend, she states she's going to stab Weekend to death, kill herself, and die happy because Kyouichirou will feel so guilty that he will never get another girlfriend.

Natsume's mother and Kyouchirou's older sister. An old friend of Komachi and Kazane.
----
* AbusiveParents: She raised her daughter Natsume while repeatedly telling her she would force her to become the wife (or better said, servant) of a boy who she had never met, is very strict with her, never shows her affection and if Natsume ever did anything she disapproved of, Shiori would lock her out of the house for a whole day. As a result, Natsume is terrified of her mother and has developed an unhealthy attachment to her uncle because he's the only relative who was ever nice to her.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Back in high school, Komachi was the only classmate who treated her kindly and defended her from bullying. Because of this, Shiori adores Komachi and her children.
* BullyMagnet: Back in high school, her being sick attracted bullying from her classmates. Komachi was the only one who befriended her.
* DarkIsNotEvil: She has a cold personality, wears a black dress, her gloves have creepy-looking claws, her eyes look like BlackEyesOfEvil, and her magic is controlling spiders. While she's something of a jerk to anyone who isn't Komachi or Honoka, Shiori isn't a villain and is an ally of the Workshop Witches.
* DelicateAndSickly: When she was young, she was very sickly and frail.
* HideYourOtherness: She wears gloves to hide the marks on her hands that are proof of her contract with a spider demon.
* HonoraryAunt: Ayaka and Kasumi call her "Auntie" because their mothers were friends with Shiori in high school.
* MindControl: She specializes in brainwashing spells and curses.
* MonochromaticEyes: Like her daughter, she has entirely dark-colored eyes with no visible scleras nor pupils. They're meant to look like spider eyes.
* ParentalNeglect: She is a bit cold towards her daughter and doesn't spend that much time with her.
* ShipperWithAnAgenda: She wants to be BestFriendsInLaw with Komachi, so she birthed and raised her daughter Natsume to groom her into Honoka's bride.
* ShippingTorpedo: Shiori wanted Honoka to be her son-in-law and even raised her daughter with the idea in mind, so she's very angry with Ayaka for claiming Honoka to herself.
* StoicSpectacles: Like her daughter, she wears glasses. In Shiori's case, her personality is stern and cold...unless you're someone of the Takamiya family.
* {{Tsundere}}: Harsh type. She's domineering, strict, and irritable towards almost anyone. She's only ever kind to Komachi and Honoka, even wanting to spoil the latter to the point that Ayaka gets jealous.
* UndyingLoyalty: Since Komachi is her OnlyFriend, Shiori is very devoted to Komachi and by extent, her children. More disturbingly, she openly claims she gave birth to Natsume primarily so she could be of use to Honoka, including as an outlet to his lust. Apparently the only reason she doesn't consider herself valid for such role, is that she thinks of herself as "an old lady", but when due to misunderstanding it looks as if he's making move on her, she's [[MrsRobinson rather pleased]].
* WhyAreYouNotMySon: While she's cold and harsh to her own daughter, she adores Honoka because he's the son of her dearest friend, Komachi. Shiori even raised Natsume with the intention of making her marry Honoka so he could become her son-in-law and is very angry about Honoka's relationship with Ayaka ruining her plan.

A new "student" who transfers into Takemiya's school.
----
* ArchEnemy: Of Evermillion. The two of them ''loathe'' each other. The only reason the two of them allow each other to exist is that a direct confrontation would destroy the world in the collateral damage.
* BrutalHonesty: She bluntly tells Kasumi that if she hasn't realized she's a pervert for wanting to become her older brother's uniform, her head must be a special kind of skewed.
* CharacterTics: She's frequently touching the tip of her hair.
* ComplimentBackfire: She calls Kasumi a pervert when she hears about the latter's desire to be transformed into her brother's school uniform. Not that Alciana means it in a bad way since she ''likes'' perverts. Still, this doesn't sit well with Kasumi who is in extreme denial about her BigBrotherAttraction.
* CompulsorySchoolAge: She's one of the oldest witches, likely being several hundreds of years old. Because she looks like a teenager, she can enroll at the same high school as Takamiya and Kagari to monitor them.
* TheDreaded: She's so powerful she can terrify ''Kazane''.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: She has two concentric circles around her pupils.
* FreakyIsCool: She ''loves'' perverts. When Kasumi asks her to turn her into Takemiya's uniform, Alciana gets starry-eyed and almost drools in anticipation, elated at Kasumi's deviancy. Upon getting a look at Ayaka's StalkerShrine, she goes over the moon.
* HideYourOtherness: According to Evermillion, Alciana is an albino. Her blonde hair is dyed.
* AnIcePerson: Her public powers may be transforming others into inanimate objects, but her real power, as seen in the core of her soul, is ice and snow.
* IdiotHair: She has a strand of her standing atop her head.
* {{Irony}}: She is one of the founders of the "workshop witches" organization and hates the tower witches, yet the core of her personality is a tower.
* JerkassHasAPoint: While she later admits that she was being ImproperlyParanoid about Takamiya, she tells Kazane that trying to hide the fact that Kayou had escaped to fix things on her own instead of reporting it to the workshop only made things worse.
* MysticalWhiteHair: She's one, if not the oldest and most powerful witch. Her platinum blonde hair highlights her mysticism.
* NewTransferStudent: She's introduced as a transfer student at Takemiya's school, but she's really a witch who is there to confirm whether Takamiya is using Evermillion's power for evil.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: She may be able to pass herself off as a high-school student, but she's one of the first witches to have ever existed and is old enough to call Kazane, who has been around for centuries, "a little girl."
* StrongerWithAge: She's a "witch of the beginning" which means she's one of the first witches in existence and the founder of the "Workshop" movement. Witches only grow stronger with time, so she's one of the most powerful witches currently living.
* TheTransmogrifier: Her go-to magical ability turns people into [[{{Objectshifting}} inanimate objects]] for her own exclusive use and amusement.
* {{Troll}}: She loves to rile people up for her amusement and should they retaliate, turns them into literal objects.

* GoldfishPoopGang: The KMM Gang are five Tower Witches who recurrently appear to try and kidnap Honoka, only to be burned to a crisp by Ayaka. They're so pathetic that Honoka and Ayaka can ''live'' under the same roof as them without any sense of danger.
* LivingWithTheVillain: After Medusa is defeated, the KMM Gang start to live at the house of the Takamiyas. They eventually move out... and become the Takamiya's neighbors.
* NewTransferStudent: They join Honoka's and Ayaka's class as transfer students early in the series. From the moment they arrive, Honoka figures out they're witches targeting him.

One of the Tower Witches who transferred to the same school where Honoka and Ayaka are studying. She is a "Shikigami User" and her familiars are an army of paper rabbits which she can magically turn into mechanized soldier bunnies. She is the unofficial head of the "KMM Gang".
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Honoka always says her name wrong, to her annoyance.
* BigOlEyebrows: She has thick eyebrows. They look normal in the anime, though.
* BunniesForCuteness: Her familiars are some kind of robotic rabbits, despite her physically being catlike.
* ButtMonkey: Out of [[GoldfishPoopGang the five Tower witches]] that regularly attack Ayaka and Honoka, she's the most prone to receiving the brunt of everyone's antics.
* CatGirl: She has cat ears.
* InSeriesNickname: Kasumi calls her "Kemonomimi/Furry-Ears".
* TheLeader: She almost always makes the decisions for her group, and is always at the forefront when they're together.
* OddFriendship: She bonds with the brocon Workshop Witch Kasumi during their time living together as both are frustrated by constantly losing to Ayaka. The KMM gang later claims that Tanpopo has been "domesticated" by Kasumi.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: Zigzagged. She can understand her rabbits, but not Kasumi's bear. So she ends up using it to help translate for her in episode 12.
* ThatCameOutWrong: Subverted. When she's introduced and asked by Takamiya why he's being targetted, she replies that they're not targeting him, but specifically, "the white stuff" inside his body. When her fellow tower witches point out how that can be misunderstood, she still doesn't get it.
* VillainDecay: While she was never able to defeat Ayaka in the first place, she was at her most dangerous when she's first seen attacking Honoka. Afterward, her plans gradually get less and less effective, to the point that Ayaka and even Kasumi simply stops her within one or two moves.

A powerful Tower Witch who specializes in crafting potions and often walks around with a well-dressed crocodile familiar named Sebastian. She has her own plans for Honoka's "white stuff."
----
* AffablyEvil: When it doesn't come to fighting, she's polite and friendly despite technically being an antagonist.
* AntiquatedLinguistics: Her entire speech in Japanese is very old-fashioned.
* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork: She's the one who takes down Weekend at the end of the "Takamiya-kun and the Weekend" arc.
* BloodKnight: She regularly goes after other Tower Witches just because she wants to have a good fight. She inadvertently helps the Workshop witches in the Weekend arc because of this, by taking out Weekend's minions who were attempting to attack the town while the Workshop witches were distracted. And in episode 12 she even takes out Weekend fairly quickly, much to the latter's surprise.
* TheDreaded: Though she appears largely harmless in the series due to Kazane being able to easily [[CurbStompBattle defeat her]], over the years she has built a reputation. Even Ayaka seems a little afraid of her on their first encounter.
* EvilRedhead: An antagonist Tower Witch with red hair.
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: She looks like a regular human, but in episode 12 her disguise wears off a bit, and her face strongly resembles her alligator minion right before she attacks Kazane.
* GoKartingWithBowser: She hangs out with Workshop witches like Kazane and Mikage regularly.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Her actual Witch Title is '''Dead End''' - put bluntly, an 'End Witch' means one who can cause the "''end of the world''".
* ThePlan: Seems to be conspiring with Mikage to break all the seals on Evermillion for some yet unknown reason.

----
* AchillesHeel: She cannot take care of herself with her arms bound in a straitjacket. Her QuirkyMinibossSquad is shown helping her eat and drink on at least one occasion.
* AntiVillain: She's one of the Tower Witches who are after Evermillion's power within Honoka, but other than her attack on Honoka and Ayaka at the Kagari mansion, she never acts villainous and is actually quite friendly to witches and civilians alike.
* BeautifulAllAlong: [[spoiler:At the end of the series, Medusa turns out to be quite the beauty now that she has normal hair and is free from her bindings.]]
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: She really appreciates that Komachi isn't afraid of her and treats her and the KMM Gang like family.
* BlindfoldedVision: Despite being forcibly blindfolded at all times, she seems to have no issues navigating her surroundings, keeping track of where people are, and fighting despite not being able to see what she's doing.
* DealWithTheDevil: After Ayaka defeats her, the two form an alliance which allows Ayaka to use her power. Though as Medusa admits, it's only temporary and she breaks it when she gets bored. [[spoiler:Despite this, Kazane is still able to easily defeat Ayaka even with using Medusa's powers.]]
* EyesOutOfSight: {{Justified|Trope}}. She needs to keep her eyes covered with a blindfold to avoid petrifying people with her gaze.
* GracefulLoser: She's quite friendly with Honoka and Ayaka after they defeat her.
* {{Medusa}}: She's a witch version of the mythological Medusa, coming with the snake hair, petrifying powers and the same name.
* PowerLimiter: She's wearing ''two'' at all times: a blindfold to prevent her from using her [[TakenForGranite vision powers]] and a straitjacket that keeps her from invoking her stronger spells. They were locked and sealed on her by extremely powerful witches, and even when she escapes from prison, neither she nor her superiors can remove them. Even when she reverts to a human form, she's still wearing the blindfold and her sleeves are strapped together straitjacket-style. The fact that she is so strong even when blind and physically restrained says a lot. [[spoiler:Alciana eventually removes her straightjacket in return for her assistance]].
* ScaryTeeth: She has rather sharp teeth in her mouth.
* SternTeacher: She's mad at seeing how the KMM Gang couldn't take out even one of Weekend's {{Mooks}} and puts them through some TrainingFromHell to get them into shape.
* TakenForGranite: As befits her name Medudsa, she can turn her enemies into stone.
* TeamMom: She plays a motherly role for the KMM Gang who are all her apprentice Tower Witches. She doesn't correct Komachi when she calls the KMM Gang Medusa's daughters.
* TrainingFromHell: She tells Takamiya that her sending Tanpopo and the others after him is purely for the sake of making those Tower Witches stronger, by using Ayaka as an unwitting sparring partner.
* VillainousRescue: She saves Kasumi from being taken out by one of Weekend's minions.
* WorfHadTheFlu: The reason she was so easily defeated is that she has most of her body restrained and is unable to use her powers to the fullest.
* WorthyOpponent: Medusa only went after Honoka in the hopes she could have a match with the powerful demon inside him.

A Tower Witch whose main strength is meticulous planning and preparation as opposed to any overtly magic power.
----
* ArcVillainess: She's the villainess of the "Takamiya-kun and the Weekend" arc.
* BoringButPractical: In addition to being CrazyPrepared, she also packs regular bombs and wears a bomb suit, and also has a kitchen knife on hand, which she uses on Honoka in episode 12. Not that it stops him though.
* CrazyPrepared: In episode 11, she reveals to Ayaka, whom she just defeated, that she's a meticulous planner and planted the bombs a few months in advance. Since her magic reserves aren't too high, she relies on the bombs to weaken her opponents, while focusing her magic mostly on healing herself in fights. [[spoiler:Ayaka then tries to exploit this, but doesn't quite succeed until Honoka shows up at the end to lend her some of his power.]]
* EyesAlwaysShut: She keeps her eyes closed all the time.
* HeelFaceTurn: She ends up working for [[spoiler:Kazane]] after getting captured in return for a lighter sentence. She notes that, while it is degrading, suffering that indignity is much better than facing banishment, execution, or [[FateWorseThanDeath worse]].
* LivingWithTheVillain: She ends up becoming Honoka and Ayaka's homeroom teacher while Kyouichiro's out nursing his sister.
* MadBomber: Weekend's specialty involves setting up explosives of both magic and non-magic varieties.
* PerpetualSmiler: She's always wearing a smug grin, even when she's otherwise ''furious''.
* SquishyWizard: She states repeatedly that she's not a fighting type. Therefore she instead meticulously plans her moves far in advance and tries to manipulate others into doing what she wants them to do for her. As seen in episode 12, Chronoire, a fighting witch, easily delivers a CurbStompBattle, which didn't last very long as Weekend is seen tied up in the very next scene after the fight starts.
* StrappedToABomb: She makes quite good use of this trope. First, she puts some on Workshop witches she's captured and uses them as an ultimatum to get Takamiya. [[spoiler:After that one fails, she reveals later she has some real explosives set on herself, rather than magical ones, and sets them off to knock out Rinon and her friend.]]
* WomanBehindTheWoman: She was the one who sent Medusa and Chronoire off on their missions to find Takamiya.
* XanatosGambit: Although she only provided minor hints to the two, both Medusa and Chronoire end up doing things that helped Weekend find Takamiya. [[spoiler:She also planned a big magical bomb designed to severely damage the city forcing Kazane to use all of her magic to protect the humans in order to take her out of the picture. And in episode 10, she has several plans in place to ensure that her goals succeed, even if it involves her getting captured and setting off some regular explosives while wearing a bomb-suit vest. She even tries to devise plans to stop Ayaka and steal Evermillion from Honoka, but a SpannerInTheWorks prevents her from achieving her goal. And when all of that fails, she attempts to simply stab Honoka, but it doesn't work either.]]

* ProneToTears: She considers herself to be a crybaby as she starts crying when her children so much as raise their voice at her.
* RescueRomance: She has a big crush on Kazane that persists to this day, which stems from Kazane beating the crap out of Komachi's bullies in high school.

* ClassyCravat: Her PimpedOutDress makes her look like a princess and the cravat that comes with it helps.
* CoolCrown: She has a small, cartoon-ish crown on her head.
* DealWithTheDevil: In chapter 55, it's revealed she'd offered Honoka the chance to save [[spoiler:Ayaka's]] life in exchange for his soul. 646* EvilCostumeSwitch: Her white fairy tale dress is changed into a completely black dress when [[spoiler:Honoka is brainwashed by Kayou]].
* FemmeFatalons: While not exactly evil, to help illustrate her identity as a magical demon, Evermillion has nails as long as the rest of her fingers.
* FriendlyAddressPrivileges: She insists Takemiya calls her "Eva-chan."
* GoodCostumeSwitch: Her appearance changed from ash covered woman wearing gray and black furs to a pure white princess costume when she contracted with the pure-hearted Honoka, much to even her surprise.
* InsultBackfire: Honoka called her a liar for [[spoiler:admitting she didn't intend to keep her promise of saving Ayaka's life when they first made their contract]]. Evermillion said she took being called a liar as praise because she's a demon after all.
* LightIsGood: She has the appearance of a beautiful white-haired woman dressed in a white dress that seems out of a fairy tale. She was originally a malevolent demon, but after Honoka became her host, his kind soul influenced her and turned her into a benevolent being.
* MysticalWhiteHair: She has stark white hair, to help illustrate her identity as a magical demon.
* NavelWindow: The black dress from her EvilCostumeSwitch has a diamond-shaped cutout around her navel.
* TheNicknamer: Calls Takamiya "Honoka-''kyun''" and Kagari is "Ayakacchi".
* NobleDemon: She warns Honoka not to rely on her too much, as that could be bad for him.
* OfCorsetsSexy: She wears an underbust corset as part of her white PimpedOutDress.
* PimpedOutDress: She wears a extravagant ballroom gown that makes her look like fairy tale princess.
* PlayingWithFire: Her base element is fire and in her words, is the embodiment of destruction and rebirth. In fact, her name before meeting Honoka is "Evermillion Firecraft".
* PointyEars: As a demon, her ears are slightly pointed, instead of fully rounded.
* PowerAtAPrice: Being a neutral party to the Workshop and Tower witches, she adopts this as her ''modus operandi'' when someone asks for her help. Not even Honoka, whose soul she resides in is free from this. In return for restoring the city to normal and everyone's lives back, Evermillion asked for ''Honoka's'' life.
* PrettyInMink: Her white PimpedOutDress is trimmed with fur around the shoulders.
* RoseHairedSweetie: Her hair is white with a pinkish hue and despite her nature as a demon, she's cheery, playful, and friendly to her host.
* ScaryTeeth: She has extremely long canines compared to a human, as she's a demon.
* SealedInsideAPersonShapedCan: She is sealed within Honoka. She really doesn't seem to mind and actually seems fond of him in a way. [[spoiler:She was sealed inside Honoka because his own innate magic was enough to subjugate ''her'' when she tried to take his soul. That and he was so kind and nice that she became incredibly fond of him, going so far as to go the extra mile to resurrect Ayaka without asking for anything in return just to make him happy.]]
* SecretTestOfCharacter: When she asks Honoka to sacrifice his life to restore the city from Weekend's attacks, she doesn't have any intention of actually collecting, she just wants to see if Honoka is still the kind, selfless boy he was [[spoiler:when she first contracted with him.]]
* SexyBacklessOutfit: It's hard to notice because of her long hair covering it up, but her dress is backless.
* ShowgirlSkirt: The skirt of her dress is split at the front, showing some of her legs.
* StatuesqueStunner: By far, the largest member of the cast. Kagari (both mother and daughter) looks like mere children next to her.
* SymbioticPossession: When she first met Honoka, she only wanted to devour his soul and escape. Then she realized Honoka's great magic power was enough to subdue her and his kind heart made her fond of him so she accepted him as her host and master. She is actually a happy tenant being inside Honoka.
* YouMonster: She angrily calls Kayou Kagari a bitch, and with good reason. In fact, she's so enraged, she can barely speak properly.
* YourSoulIsMine: She made Honoka sign away his soul in a bid to get enough power to [[spoiler:escape Kayou's clutches]]. It didn't work because Honoka's magic is so much more powerful and his kindness won her over.

The seeming leader of Ayaka's fan club.
----
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: During middle school, she was one of Ayaka's caretakers who were assigned with helping her adjust to a normal school life and work through her [[NoSocialSkills social cluelessness]]. In their flashback, Kagari seems pretty awkward at everything, until Kanae tells her how to react, such as solving a problem on the chalkboard after being called up, or hitting the ball back during tennis.
* SatelliteCharacter: She's only in the story to serve as the POV character during the flashback to Ayaka as a middle schooler.

Kasumi's closest friend.
----
* AffectionateNickname: Kasumi calls her "Tanutanu".
* AnimeHair: Her hairstyle is highly unusual. It looks like she's got two giant "doughnuts" glued to her head.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: She and Kasumi became close friends because Kasumi was nice enough to befriend her when she had no friends back in middle school.
* BestFriend: To Kasumi. They have been friends since middle school and rarely hang out with anyone but each other.
* LonerTurnedFriend: Before she met Kasumi in middle school, Yoshiko was lonely because all of her friends from elementary school went to different schools. She even thought of Kasumi as an angel who was sent to save her from her friendless status.
* NiceGirl: So nice that she can't bring herself to call Kasumi out on her deviant obsession with her older brother.
* SatelliteCharacter: Her only role is "Kasumi's UnwittingMuggleFriend" and she's never seen without Kasumi.
* UnwittingMuggleFriend: She's a regular human with no knowledge that her friend Kasumi is a witch.

The head of the Kagari household.
----
* AbusiveParents: Just from what we've seen, and it isn't all that much, she sure as hell isn't winning any "Mother of the Year" awards. She sees nothing wrong with chaining her one and only daughter in a dark room, ''through the back of her neck'', [[PlayingWithSyringes performing horrific experiments on her]], [[DemonicPossession shoving all kinds of spirits and abominations]] into the child, [[OffingTheOffspring and then killing her]] to extract the resulting EldritchAbomination, for her exclusive use, calling it "the crystallization of her life's work." Whatever else she's done to her daughter has the poor girl so traumatized, she can't even consider refusing any given order, no matter how cruel or unreasonable.
* AndNowYouMustMarryMe: [[spoiler:She brainwashes Honoka so she can force him to marry her.]]
* {{Animorphism}}: She can change her form into a demonic [[AsianFoxSpirit fox]].
* AristocratsAreEvil: She's the matriarch of the Kagari family, a "noble" house, and she's an especially horrific individual.
* BullyingADragon: She ''attacks Kazane'' knowing the latter is an End Witch to try and cow her so as to use a horrific fatal ritual on her own daughter. [[MegatonPunch It goes about as well as one would expect.]]
%%* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Her vocal "justifications" for abusing her daughter and using the poor girl as nothing more than a vessel for horrific magical experiments to extract the resulting EldritchAbomination for her own exclusive use sound eerily familiar. So much so that many [=NARAL=] activists immediately recognize them, some being shaken by the implications.
* EntitledBastard: She believes it's her god-given right to abuse, torture, and force her daughter to be an "artificial vessel" for all manner of spiritual and magical beings, so she can then kill the poor child to extract the end result for her own exclusive use.
* EvilLaughter: Which un-nerves the staff in the Kagari house as she relishes "showing off" her LivingWeapon.
* EvilMatriarch: She's the matriarch of the Kagari family who abused, tortured and wanted to murder her own daughter to make her into a LivingWeapon and extract the resulting EldritchAbomination for her own exclusive use.
* FauxAffablyEvil: She speaks in polite phrases, but she looks upon everyone else with undisguised contempt.
* ForWantOfANail: Kazane laments that if there had been someone who could have rescued her as a child, she likely wouldn't have been such a messed up woman, and she certainly wouldn't have been so powered up by curses.
* GreaterScopeVillain: She set the entire manga's plot in motion, by leaking that Evermillion was sealed inside Honoka to Chronoire, Medusa, and Weekend.
* HateSink: She's unquestionably the evilest and most loathsome villain in the series. [[spoiler:She treated Ayaka as a lab rat and makes disturbing passes at Honoka who she wants to make her husband against his will to gain Evermillion's powers.]] She's designed so the audience feels nothing but revulsion at her.
* HypnotizeTheCaptive: [[spoiler:She kidnaps Honoka and uses a brainwashing spell to make him willing to marry her.]]
* GreenThumb: In addition to her fire-based magics, she can summon large, thorny branches to attack or restrain her opponents.
* LukeIAmYourFather: [[spoiler:Kazane is not Ayaka's birth mother; Kayou is.]]
* ObviouslyEvil: In her introduction, she's sporting an EvilGrin and a dark aura around her that lets both the audience and Kazane know this woman is an evil villain.
* OffingTheOffspring: She uses a magic ritual that would kill her daughter [[spoiler:in order to extract and seal Evermillion, for her own exclusive use.]]
* PlayingWithFire: As is the hallmark of the Kagari household, she specializes in fire-based magic.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: Kazane lampshades that Kayou has so much magical power and political influence that she can effectively ignore law enforcement whenever she wishes, even if that includes felony child abuse.
* SmugSnake: She thinks she's superior to Kazane, despite knowing Kazane is ''bad end'', an [[TheDreaded End Witch.]]
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Her face looks a lot like her daughter's.
* TroubledAbuser: Flashbacks as she's depowered and turned into her true kitsune form reveal that she was treated ''exactly'' as she treated Ayaka in the Kagari household when she was a young child, but there was no Takamiya who could rescue her from it.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: She can turn into a giant kitsune at will.
* TheUnfettered: She believes her goal of making the pinnacle of fire-based spirits and magics justifies any nasty thing she does, including abusing, exploiting, and murdering her own daughter.
* VillainessesWantHeroes: Even after she's defeated and Evermillion is out of her reach forever, she's still obsessed with Takamiya and wants to marry him.
