!!Aiden Pearce / The Vigilante / The Fox
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aiden_pearce_watch_dogs_render_1330.png]]
--> '''Voiced by:''' Noam Jenkins (English), Creator/ToshiyukiMorikawa (Japanese), Denis Bespaly (Russian)

-->''"They think I'm a man out of control. But I've never had so much control."''

The player character. Aiden Pearce was born in [[UsefulNotes/NorthernIreland Belfast, Northern Ireland]] on May 2, 1974 at the height of [[UsefulNotes/TheTroubles the Troubles]]. He is no stranger to violence and is more than willing to [[BlackAndGrayMorality use it against his enemies.]] However, his actions have had an untoward effect on his family, and now he monitors them in secret in order to keep them safe.
----
* AntiHero: Depending on how you play. While he's not a monster like Lucky Quinn, Aiden's no saint. Most of the time, he's an UnscrupulousHero who's willing to steal, kill and cause wanton destruction to achieve his ends. But depending on player actions, he can easily sink down to a NominalHero.
* TheAtoner: Aiden became the Vigilante to try to make up for his niece's death. [[GoodFeelsGood Also, because it makes him feel good.]] Subverted in the fact he still does criminal activities for money.
* BadassBiker: He can ride motorcycles, with choppers and crotch rockets to choose from.
* BadassDriver: His skills behind the wheel, along with a penchant for stealth driving brings [[Film/Drive2011 the Driver]] to mind. In fact, some of the contracts Aiden can take are transporter and getaway jobs.
* BadassInDistress: One Side Mission in 2 has him captured by the Bratvas. After Marcus distracts a guard so Aiden can get his phone, he gets himself out of trouble.
* BadassLongcoat: Wears an impressive leather trench-coat in his default outfit, and every one of the other unlockable outfits features a long coat as well.
* BecomingTheMask: Good Playthrough all Aiden cared about was revenge and was just helping people along the way. But when he finally [[spoiler: kills Quinn]], he states that he's The Vigilante.
* BestServedCold:
-->'''Pearce:''' "I wasn't always this guy. They crossed the line, and now I'll make them pay."\
'''Pearce:''' "... That's when they came for me. But killed her. Now, I'm coming for them."
* BigBrotherInstinct: After what happened to Lena, he's gotten very protective towards Nicky.
* TheBusCameBack: He returns in ''Videogame/WatchDogsLegion'' as a DLC character with his own storyline after being a simple cameo character in 2.
* BulletTime: The game use this to represent Aiden's reflexes.
* CoatHatMask: Mostly. Aiden looks normal enough when pretending to just be going about his business, but when he's about to do something overtly illegal, he pulls his neck gaiter up to cover his face.
* TheCracker: His primary tools of waging war.
* CombatPragmatist: He [[NeverBringAKnifeToAGunFight pulls out guns in close-quarters]], among other nasty tricks.
* CunningLikeAFox: His alias is "the Fox" to the media, possibly due to the overlaid WV symbol he uses for his hacks (also the logo of the game), and he's extremely smart.
* CynicismCatalyst: The murder of his six-year old niece.
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: WordOfGod has confirmed Aiden is a deconstuction of a VigilanteMan[[note]]Although it's debatable if it's a ParodyRetcon or not[[/note]]; as noble as his goals are, his actions are depicted as being only barely better than those of the criminals he hunts. His family doesn't approve of his antics, most of his allies are criminals like him, and he enjoys his "job" a bit too much.
* DoubleConsciousness: He's a former Fixer who has become 'The Vigilante' to cope with his guilt over his niece's death. The thing is that Aiden still makes the majority of his money through crime and most of his solutions are coming at problems from a criminal mindset. It gets worse when his desire for revenge results in moving from non-lethal methods to lethal ones. Aiden's desire to a hero is constantly contrasted against the reality that he's still, and fundamentally, a criminal.
* EvilVersusEvil: If Aiden's reputation is low enough to be considered a criminal, he'll invoke this trope against Lucky Quinn, who was already evil from the get-go.
* FightingIrish: Aiden is a Irish immigrant as well as a badass.
* GoodIsNotNice: If you play as a Vigilante instead of a total homicidal lunatic, this is Aiden.
* GuiltComplex: When his niece is accidentally killed because of his actions, this motivates Aiden to embark on his [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge mission.]]
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: Several characters repeatedly bring up the many innocent lives Aiden's hurting in the name of making the guilty few responsible for Lena's death pay. [[spoiler: That said, no matter how bad you play him, you'd have to [[YouBastard go out of your way to be a monster]] to truly be the worst entity in Chicago.]]
* HeroOfAnotherStory: In 2, he's continuing his crusade against human trafficking with Marcus mostly just following him and helping him distract a guard so he can break out of imprisonment.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Unless you take a heroic route.
* HyperAwareness: Aiden is quick to notice details of the environments he finds himself in and the other persons in them.
* {{Hypocrite}}: An in-universe acknowledged one. Aiden's the Vigilante fighting career criminals, but he commits mass-computer theft and does "Fixer" work for money. Aiden even comments there's really not much difference between him and Jordi at the end of the day. On the other hand, the worst he's willing to do is help petty criminals make getaways, and the data theft is usually necessary.
* {{Irony}}: Aiden is a violent vigilante, but his signature weapon (besides his phone) is a baton. Like a cop. Though he owns it illegally. This may symbolise how he wants to be a good person, but just can't walk away from crime.
* KnightInSourArmor: A deluded version. He believes that the work he does in the pursuit of his niece's murder will bring him solace and restore his family's faith in him, pushing onwards at all costs to deal with his guilt. However the reality is that he's causing lots of damage across Chicago that is getting innocent citizens caught in the crossfire, killed a lot of people who weren't even deeply connected to Lena's death, and his "heroism" is driving a massive wedge between what family he has left.
* ALighterShadeOfGrey: Aiden was a career criminal before his niece's death, and he still is; most of his money comes from theft. However, the player can choose to steal only from wealthy targets and avoid killing people or causing too much damage, and unless you play him as an absolute AxCrazy maniac, he's still miles ahead of [[spoiler: Quinn and the human traffickers]]. At the end of the day, Aiden is, at best, a petty thief. Some of his enemies run into utterly evil territory. Make of that what you will.
* LeParkour: Among Aiden's skills, though his skills are not as pronounced as [[Franchise/PrinceOfPersia the]] [[Franchise/AssassinsCreed other]] [[VideoGame/SplinterCell protagonists]] of [[Creator/UbiSoft Ubisoft's]] games.
* LightningBruiser: Aiden's a big guy, and his street fighting skills show him to be quick and brutal. This is what sets him apart from the other main hackers of the game. Unlike [[SmugSnake Defalt and Damien]] and to a lesser extent [[SouthernFriedGenius T-Bone]], Aiden's very good at both hacking computers and hacking people.
* LegendaryInTheSequel: Marcus is wearing his logo. [[spoiler: Furthermore, during a side mission where you help Aiden escape from a sticky situation, [[TheKnightsWhoSaySquee Marcus and everyone back home are geeking out at the fact that they're helping]] ''[[TheKnightsWhoSaySquee Aiden Pearce]]''.]]
* MagicalComputer: Uses it in a very versatile manner. You can hack most things, including '''physical steam valves'''.
* {{Mangst}}: Caused by the death of his niece, this is his main drive for revenge.
* MeaningfulName: His last name is possibly a reference to Irish revolutionary Patrick Pearse.
* MyNaymeIs: His surname is spelt P'''ea'''rce, instead of the more common P'''ie'''rce, as he was [[UsefulNotes/IrishNames born in Ireland.]]
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: Near the end of the game, Aiden is contacted by [=DedSec=] to help put a backdoor [[spoiler: into the ctOS satellite he is hacking]] but Aiden rejects them, seeing their quest for justice makes them no different to Blume.
* PapaWolf: He's this to his nephew Jackson. [[spoiler: Subverted by the fact he refuses to stop his quest for revenge despite the fact this is endangering both his sister and her surviving child.]]
* ParentalSubstitute: Aiden is confirmed by WordOfGod to have lived with his sister before the events of the game and helped raise her children after she divorced her husband. In effect, they're closer to his daughter and son than niece and nephew.
* PlayerCharacter: He's the only playable character in the game. Even when someone else has to be guided by proxy, it's all under control of Aiden telling them where to go.
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler: He spares Clara even though she aided in Lena's murder, and she's the only one of them who he spares.]]
* ShipTease: He and Clara have a couple moments of HeldGaze throughout the game. However, the ShipTease is much heavier on her side, and considering [[spoiler: the fact she's KilledOffForReal,]] the game never really expands on this.
* TheSocialExpert: Aiden's ctOS profile states that he is a "[[StreetSmart street smart]] [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_engineering_(security) social engineer]]."
* SociopathicHero: He had a MoralityPet in his niece Lena. Now? She's ''dead.'' His RoaringRampageOfRevenge will ''not'' stop until he kills everyone involved with the death. And everyone who worked with those responsible. And anyone who gets in his way of killing #1 and #2.
* TheStoic: Aiden almost ''never'' loses his cool beyond a vague anger. Though he does have a few NotSoStoic moments, such as when he learns that [[spoiler:Damien had targeted his family.]]
* SuperReflexes: Bullet-time is one of his special abilities.
* TheUnfettered: You can choose to be this, shooting your way to the objective. But not without repercussions.
* VigilanteMan: Aiden's primary means of dealing with his niece's death. Gets deconstructed over the course of the game as the fact he can't give up on his mission to destroy those who destroyed his family result in him doing much of that destruction on his own when his sister and nephew suffer the consequences of his irrationality.
* WalkingArmory: He can definitely become this if you got out your way to deck him out as a one-man assault team.
-->'''[[https://youtu.be/902iD9TyjLg?t=17m45s Tehsnakerer]]''': By the end of the first act, I have three assault rifles, four shotguns, two sniper rifles, one anti-material rifle, two grenade launchers with loads of ammo, six handguns, and a sub-machine gun for when I feel like being subtle...which is never because I can carry all of this ''at the same time!''
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: By the end of the game, Aiden has made so many enemies in Chicago, he has to leave the city. It is implied his absence in the ''Bad Blood'' DLC is because he has already left due to Blume issuing a huge bounty on him. The sequels show that Aiden has been [[WalkingTheEarth taking down crime syndicates across the world.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Nicole Pearce]]
!!Nicole Anne "Nicky" Pearce
--> '''Voiced by:''' Anna Hopkins (English), Anastasia Lapina (Russian)

The younger sister of Aiden and single mother of Jackson and Lena.
----
* BigBrotherWorship: She grew up idolizing Aiden.
* BrokenPedestal: While she idolized her brother when she was younger, she is appalled with Aiden's over-protectiveness over her and Jackson following Lena's death. [[spoiler:Later in the game, Nicky is horrified when she discovers her brother is the Vigilante. Despite this, she still trusts him enough to take them to safety. At the end however, it is clear that the relationship between the siblings has been strained]].
-->'''Nicky:''' Remember when we were kids and I would follow you? And you'd try and get away from me and me, and, stupid me, I kept trying. I didn't like your cars or hockey, and your friends were gross.
-->'''Aiden:''' Yeah.
-->'''Nicky:''' I followed because I idolized you. Like Jackson does. And I kept hoping you'd want me around. But eventually I just hoped that you would look back.
-->'''Aiden:''' All I can say is I'm sorry.
-->'''Nicky:''' I'm not following you anymore.
-->'''Aiden:''' I know.
* DamselInDistress: She was kidnapped by Damien Brenks in order to get Aiden to work for him.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: [[spoiler: Takes out one of her kidnappers with a lucky shot.]]
* StrugglingSingleMother: Things are not well for Nicky ever since her divorce. After her daughter's death, her son suffered from PTSD and she had a harasser prank calling her every now and then.
* TheseHandsHaveKilled: [[spoiler: Mere minutes after witnessing her brother telefrag one of her kidnappers, Nicky picks up his gun, and shoots a second kidnapper. She is then treated to the sight of him painfully bleeding out for several minutes before he finally dies. Horrified, she tells Aiden that this guy was actually ''nice'' to her (as far as kidnappers go), and [[WhatTheHellHero asks how Aiden can take lives so easily]]]].
* TomboyishName: Aiden calls her Nik.
* TomboyPonytail: Wears one.
* WhatTheHellHero: She doesn't handle Aiden's overprotectiveness towards her and Jackson. When she realizes Aiden is going after a prank caller that has been harassing her for some time, she is rather frustrated about it.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: Because Aiden has made too many enemies, he has to send Nikki away from Chicago in order to protect her. Nikki reluctantly complies.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jackson Pearce]]
!!Jackson Kent "Jacks" Pearce
--> '''Voiced by:''' Nicholas Bode (English), Larisa Brokhman (Russian)

Nicole's eldest child and Aiden's nephew. As of ''VideoGame/WatchDogsLegion'', Jackson was last heard to be living in the UK.
----
* BrokenPedestal: [[spoiler:While he loves his uncle, Jackson was horrified to see him killing a group of Fixers. Averted in the end however as he still decides to trust his uncle.]]
* DisappearedDad: His biological father has been out of the picture since his parents' divorce, so Aiden has become a ParentalSubstitute.
* TheQuietOne: Jackson rarely speaks ever since the death of his sister. It appears that he suffers from PTSD, as well as social anxiety, speaking very little in the game, even with family members.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lena Pearce]]
!!Lena Violet Pearce
--> '''Voiced by:''' Teale Bishopric (English), Elena Chebaturkina (Russian)

Nicole's daughter and Aiden's niece. She died 11 months before the events of the game during an assassination attempt of Aiden.
----
* DeathByOriginStory: Her death is what pushed Aiden to become a vigilante.
* DeathOfAChild: She died during the prologue of the game.
* MoralityChain: Zig-zagged. Aiden was a criminal before her death (even in the intro he's stealing money) but her death turns him from a low-level criminal to a violent vigilante with no remorse for anyone he can tie to her murder.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Lena died during the prologue and the player didn't get to explore about her much.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Clara Lille]]
!!Clara Lille / [=BadBoy17=]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/clara_lille_watch_dogs_render_4626.png]]
--> '''Voiced by:''' Isabelle Blais (English), Eri Miyajima (Japanese), Elena Shulman (Russian)

-->''"Clara is seductive. She’s dangerous. She’s the trapdoor spider you never saw living right under you. She can weave her way through any system and she can expose every secret you hide."''

One of Pearce's allies, using her tattoo artist occupation as her front. She is a [=DedSec=] activist with ties to its council.
----
* ActionGirl: As seen when she and Aiden get into a shootout with the Fixers that raid the latter's hotel.
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler: For her involvement in the hit on Aiden]].
* TheCracker: Just like Aiden.
* ChekhovsGunman: [[spoiler:The flowers Aiden and Nicky keep seeing on Lena's grave are from Clara]].
* ComicBookFantasyCasting: She resembles adult film star Christy Mack, though she also resembles [[Film/TheMillenniumTrilogy Lizbeth Salander]].
%%* GratuitousFrench
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:She used to provide information to the Chicago South Club, even locating the names of people they wanted dead, until the hit on Aiden killed Lena]]. She cut ties with them after this and worked with Aiden to make up for her past.
* TheIllegal: Her immigration visa has expired, but she (obviously) has stayed in the United States illegally.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: She is very excited about meeting T-Bone [[spoiler:AKA Raymond Kenney]].
* MarkedToDie: The double Valknut on her chest. [[spoiler: In modern Germanic Neopaganism, tattooing a Valknut onto your chest basically amounts to telling Odin "When it's time for me to die, tell my killers to stab here." It's also FauxSymbolism because, while ironic, getting killed clearly wasn't part of her plan--and it's highly unlikely anyone at Ubisoft Montreal did any research into the subject.]]
* MissionControl: While she's this a bit in the start as [=Badboy17=], she really becomes it after you find the Bunker.
* MsFanservice: It's already been mentioned that her appearance is based off an adult film star, and she wears a low-cut top with a leather jacket, although that may not be fanservice as much as [[TattooedCrook revealing her tattoo.]] In fact, the first thing said in the above description is that she's seductive, which is accurate.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: [[spoiler:She's shot by fixers while leaving flowers at Lena Pearce's grave]].
* SamusIsAGirl: Her [[ThereAreNoGirlsOnTheInternet hacker alias (Badboy17) fools Aiden]] into thinking that she's a guy.
* ShipTease: She and Aiden have a couple moments of HeldGaze through the game. It's heavier on her side, with her changing from staying anonymous and in fear of him to one of his closest associates, and she does show that there's a chance. [[SociopathicHero On the other hand, she couldn't have picked a worse guy.]]
* TattooedCrook: Has a rather prominent tattoo of the All-Seeing Eye on her chest.

[[folder:Jordi Chin]]
!!Jordi Chin
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jordi_chin_watch_dogs_render_7792.jpg]]
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/AaronDouglas (English), Jin Yamanoi (Japanese), Mikhail Belyakovich (Russian)

-->''"When you’re screwed beyond belief, you call in a fixer. And that’s Jordi. He gets things done and gets paid good money for his services. You need a body to disappear? You gotta find a missing adversary? Someone pissed you off? You call Jordi."''

A man who does dirty work for money. He has no recorded profile on [=ctOS=].
----
* AntiHero: Appears to fall squarely into this trope.
* ButNotTooForeign: He's Chinese-American.
* CasualDangerDialogue: Frequently spouts this.
--> '''Jordi:''' Okay, we've got a bunch of dead bodies, right? We've got 40,000 people above us-- We need a distraction. [[KansasCityShuffle I called the cops.]]
* ConsummateProfessional: LaughablyEvil traits aside, he takes his work overall seriously & dedicated to his professional reputation as well as seeing jobs through perfectly, no matter who his client is or who it puts him against. The only exception is going into [[WretchedHive Rossi-Fremont]], which he refuses to do for Aiden (though sniping from outside is okay), but he only says it's because he [[OnlyInItForTheMoney doesn't pay him enough]] to do so.
* DeadpanSnarker: Quite a bit.
-->'''Aiden:''' A survivor? How did that happen?\
'''Jordi:''' I'm guessing he didn't die?
* TheFixer: If there's a shady deed that Aiden needs doing, such as cleaning up bodies, supplying info or just getting him a car, Jordi can get it done.
* JerkassHasAPoint: With all the barbs Jordi exchanges with Aiden on a regular basis, he does bring up some sound logic when he tells the latter that his dedication to protect his family can be used against him. [[spoiler: At the end of the game's first act, Jordi's words ring true as Aiden's sister is kidnapped by his former mentor/partner Damien, who uses his drive to blackmail him into finding out the truth behind the failed job at the Merlaut.]]
* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler:After betraying Aiden, he gets thrown off a lighthouse by him but survives and escapes. He also gets no punishment for anything he does in the second game.]]
* LackOfEmpathy: Doesn't care about what Aiden is doing ''at all'' as long as he gets paid enough for the jobs, and makes it readily apparent, but Aiden doesn't really care so long as he does his job.
-->'''Aiden:''' [[LampshadeHanging You're not really big on empathy, are you?]]\
'''Jordi:''' [[IResembleThatRemark Not particularly.]]
* LaughablyEvil: He might be on Aiden's side for the most part, but he's still very amoral, even immoral. However, the way he acts about his immoral acts is so entertaining that its sometimes hard to think badly of him.
--> '''Aiden:''' Could you try enjoying this a little less?
* MysteriousPast: Even in the [=ctOS=], everything about him is unknown.
* NominalHero: At most. He makes it clear that he only does everything because he's paid to and is involved in plenty of OffScreenVillainy.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: At one point he reminds Aiden that he's not promptly paying him for his services.
* PetTheDog:
** A mild example. Late in the game, Jordi calls Aiden to warn him about the unusual size of the bounty on his head, telling him to drop what he's doing and leave the city (despite knowing Aiden won't). As this occurs [[spoiler:shortly before Jordi attempts to ''claim'' said bounty]], it's not hard to interpret that as Jordi trying to give Aiden a heads-up, out of professional courtesy if nothing else.
** He tells Aiden specifically about the fixer contract in London at the beginning of ''Bloodline'' because Aiden's nephew Jackson lives there.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Aiden considers him "the devil I know" and even notes that under other circumstances, the two would likely be against one another. [[spoiler: And they do wind up against one another for short time near the end]].
* VitriolicBestBuds: Appears to be this with Aiden.
* WildCard: [[spoiler: Perfectly willing to go up against Aiden near the end since the contract called upon it. Once their short exchange is over and he fails, he contacts Aiden, checks on his status, and goes back to immediately settling his remaining work with Aiden at that point]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:T-Bone Grady]]
!!Theodore "T-Bone" Grady / Raymond Kenney
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/64206e6747d1a6e4309ee1462b2e631e.jpg]]
--> '''Voiced by:''' John Tench (English), Creator/KazuhiroYamaji (Japanese), Nikita Prozorovsky (Russian)

-->''"T-Bone grew up a tinkerer and a basement hacker before the Internet was barely a byte. He can’t help challenging his mind to unlock areas forbidden to him. And it hasn’t gone without punishment. But he’ll take his jabs. And he’ll give his share in return."''

A hacker hiding out in Pawnee whom Aiden meets while looking for Raymond Kenney. He is really Raymond Kenney, the creator of [=ctOS=] and the one who caused the Northeast Blackout of 2003.
----
* BreakoutCharacter: He's one of the most popular characters in the game, being the star of his own DLC, as well as one of the few characters from this game to carry over to [[VideoGame/WatchDogs2 the sequel]].
* TheDreaded: He has something of a reputation within Blume which causes guards and staff to wet their pants when they hear T-Bone's name.
* {{Expy}}: His [[DeepSouth accent]] and status as a BreakoutCharacter who appears OnceAnEpisode, helping to tie the universe together is fairly similar to Hurk Drubman Jr. of ''Franchise/FarCry''. The fact that both are PromotedToPlayable (''Bad Blood'', ''VideoGame/FarCry4'') and become supporting characters in [[VideoGame/WatchDogs2 their]] [[VideoGame/FarCry5 sequels]] also helps draw the similarities.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: He's the protagonist of the Bad Blood DLC.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: T-Bone's reaction when he sees [[spoiler:Defalt's display of all the victims of the 2003 blackout he caused, and thus learning why Defalt wants him dead so badly]] in ''Bad Blood''.
* ShoutOut: T-Bone's appearance and speaking voice bear more than a passing resemblance to the frontman of a certain [[Music/{{Ministry}} industrial metal band]] that licensed music for the game, that T-Bone so happens to play on his stereo during a firefight. His DLC is even named after one of their popular songs from 90s.
* SouthernFriedGenius: Well, for starters, he's pretty clever to have built all those contraptions. [[spoiler: Including [=ctOS=].]]
* TheStoolPigeon: Of the whistleblower variety. He tried warning people about what Blume was up to, but was discredited and dismissed as mentally ill and paranoid.
* StuffBlowingUp: He has a quite a few explosive traps around his junkyard. [[spoiler: Later, he blows the whole thing up after Blume discovered his location -- but not before taking a picture "for [his] portfolio"]].
* UnPerson: [[spoiler:He has Aiden break into a Blume station in Pawnee to plant a virus that will wipe his biometrics off of the ctOS servers]], otherwise he'd be spotted soon as he set foot in Chicago.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: In his backstory. [[spoiler:He's the hacker in the game's plot who caused the Northeast Blackout of 2003, which prompted the creation of [=ctOS=]'s mainframe and further development in the first place]].
* WrenchWhack: In his DLC, he uses a wrench as his melee weapon.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tobias Frewer]]
!!Tobias Lee Frewer
--> '''Voiced by:''' Billy [=MacLellan=] (English), Alexander Gavrilin (Russian)

A homeless man who sells crafted items to Aiden. He is also a former associate of Raymond Kenny.
----
* AscendedExtra: He is only involved in one mission in the main game before becoming the deuteragonist of ''Bad Blood''.
* ButtMonkey: Not many people respect Frewer since his day back at Blume where his co-workers love to pick on him. When compared to his two associates who were fired by Blume, Frewer had the worst since he became homeless. T-Bone even forgotten about him when they were at the desert in between this game and the sequel.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: After being fired from Blume he becomes rather paranoid and afraid that his former company will assassinate him. In the DLC, they actually do try it, but are defeated by T-Bone.
* ConspiracyTheorist: Not only does he not trust the government, he also believes in a few government conspiracies such as
* CrazyPrepared: The guy has mounted turrets on the security cameras around his hut, in case of any gangsters or government agents try to kill him.
* FriendInTheBlackMarket: [=DedSec=] regularly visit him to buy items. After his first appearance, he offers to sell items to Aiden as well.
* MacGyvering: Aiden can buy fully crafted items from Tobias.
* NoodleIncident: During the three years in between games, T-Bone somehow left Frewer in a desert. What were they doing in the desert in the first place is anyone's guess.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Quinkie's burger.
* VitriolicBestBuds: He and T-Bone argue a lot but ultimately get along in order to defeat whoever is hunting them. At the end of the DLC, the two share a drink while watching the sunrise.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: He was mentioned by T-Bone in the sequel that he accidentally left him at a desert, leaving his fate unknown.
* WhatTheHellHero: He hasn't forgive T-Bone for his actions that got him fired in addition to the 2003 Chicago blackout.

----
* ConfessInConfidence: Subverted since Aiden is not her patient but his nephew is. During an interview with WKZ TV, Yolanda tells the interviewer that she will not talk anything about Nicky or Jackson due to doctor-patient confidentiality.
* IShouldWriteABookAboutThis: Being one of the neutral characters who know about Aiden Pearce personally, Yolanda wrote a book about the Vigilante.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Averted. She serves as one for Jackson after the death of his sister.
* WhatTheHellHero: Not knowing the full story, Yolanda threatens Aiden that she will call the police if she doesn't hear anything from Nicky. She keeps her promise after Nicky is rescued.

* TheGhost: She is never seen at all in the game. A portrait of her can be seen whenever T-Bone contacted her.
* QuestGiver: Sheila tasks T-Bone to help her in fighting in taking down three criminal groups in exchange for payment.

Former army signal specialist turned gang leader. [[GeniusBruiser He knows the future will be won with technology.]]
----
* AxCrazy: [[spoiler: Caves one of his men's skull in with a heavy briefcase over Quinn calling him a weasel on the phone.]] Aiden can also overhear some gangbangers discussing how Iraq chased other gangs out of the Rossi-Fremont projects. Apparently, [[FullFrontalAssault he stripped naked and charged at them with an automatic weapon, screaming maniacally the whole time]]. The other gangs, spooked by his utter insanity and their own casualties, [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere took a hint and got the hell out]].
* BerserkButton: Implied to be when other people think he's stupid or easy to manipulate (as this is a deliberate act of ObfuscatingStupidity on his part), as one of his mooks finds out shortly after he's introduced.
* BigBadWannabe: Though he's legitimately threatening [[spoiler:and is half of the reason why Quinn put out the hit]], the real top dogs in the criminal world keep him in line. Lampshaded by Aiden during their confrontation.

* BossInMooksClothing: He's classified by the enemy-tagging system as an Enforcer, but he's immune to melee takedowns.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: When confronted by Aiden, he says he doesn't even know him. A JustifiedTrope, given their first encounter [[spoiler:was a game of DuelingHackers with him against Damien]].
* ClimaxBoss: Fought at the very middle of the game, atop his HQ. Also serves as the only direct BossBattle in the game.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: He's the major threat for the first half of the game, and the quest to hijack his server drives half the plot.
* DisproportionateRetribution: [[EstablishingCharacterMoment Beats one of his own men to death because they accidentally called him a weasel.]] The guy didn't even actually call him that: Quinn called Iraq a "stoat" in an argument over the phone, and when Iraq rhetorically asked what a stoat was, the poor guy [[RhetoricalQuestionBlunder made the mistake of answering]].
* TheDragon: To Lucky Quinn, providing him extra muscle and security.
* EvilLaugh: He has a particular high-pitched laugh that he only uses when he's terribly, murderously angry.
* FamilyValuesVillain: He refers to the Viceroys as his "family", and the gang often refers to each other as "cousins/cuz". It helps that his actual cousin, Bedbug, is one of his trusted liutenants. He even mockingly offers to send Aiden back to his family in pieces.
* FromCamouflageToCriminal: He's a military veteran who applied the skills he learned in the army to crime.
-->'''Iraq:''' [[BadassBoast Don't bring war to a soldier, boy!]]
* GeniusBruiser: Given his status as a gang leader & physical elements, you'd generally take him as just being a bruiser. Beneath that, however, is an intelligent foe who values technology, introduced all sorts of military training techniques into his men, [[spoiler: and is a skilled hacker]].
* HiddenDepths: Despite all he is, his personal information reveals he was discharged from the army with honors.
* LameComeback: His only reaction to being told he's Lucky Quinn's lapdog is "Fuck you".
* MoleInCharge: Quinn puts him on finding out who was the hacker trying to steal his blackmail material. [[spoiler: He was said hacker, but used this to pin the blame on Aiden who was there just to steal money from the Merlaut.]]
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: No one in the game calls him anything other than Iraq. Not even his own cousin calls him by his real name.
* PetTheDog: Despite his threats, he doesn't [[spoiler:execute Bedbug after finding him in his server room while wearing a wire]].
%%* ScaryBlackMan
* TheStarscream: He doesn't plan on staying second to Quinn for long, and [[spoiler: has been gathering extensive blackmail materials on everyone important in the city to use when he's ready to make his move]].
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler: After Aiden storms his compound, steals his blackmail, and practically cuts through his gang like a hot knife through butter, he starts ranting and raving about how he's gonna to destroy everything Aiden has]].

-->'''Bedbug:''' It's cause I'm a player! [[CasanovaWannabe A bedbug can get into any lady's bed...]]
* DisneyDeath: After breaking into Iraq's server room a cutscene heavily implied he was killed for his betrayal, but he ultimately survived his cousin's wrath and gives Aiden a call shortly afterwards.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: He genuinely loves his grandmother, and the only reason he doesn't flee Chicago after Aiden blackmails him is because he doesn't want to leave her alone.
* FatIdiot: Aside from not being book smart (see ComicallyMissingThePoint for instance), he also talks about his tendencies toward TheStarscream in broad daylight without even bothering to hide it unless directly in front of Iraq. Also despite the fact he is probably the closest to Iraq, he doesn't seem to realize the "gang" is a front for Iraq to hide the fact he is building a private army. It's a wonder he wasn't caught out on blackmail before Aiden comes along.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He may be a gang banger with some pretty shaky morals, but he still helps Aiden out even after his plan almost got him killed. He also takes the time to tell his grandmother that he loves her.
* TheMole: Aiden uses him to get into Iraq's server room. Of course, he gets found out.

-->'''Quinn:''' Is this what all the fuss was about? You must forgive me; so many people come to me with their little problems, it's hard to keep track sometimes.
* DefiantToTheEnd: When Aiden hacks his [[spoiler:pacemaker to give Quinn a heart attack]], Quinn proudly says he will not beg and that after his passing, Chicago will build a statue to his glory while forgetting Aiden ever existed. 325* TheDon: A ruthless crime lord and leader of TheIrishMob, who controls Chicago's underground by killing anyone who stands in the way of his business.
-->'''Quinn:''' Bigger men than you have tried to destroy me. I've ripped them apart, one by one.
* EarNotch: He's missing a chunk of his left ear due to a shootout from his youth. See SoleSurvivor.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Shows up the first time with basically no warning, fanfare or explanation to brutally kill the guy you just delivered to him, and only gets worse from there.
* EvilOldFolks: He's 75, but he's the head of Chicago through his crime network. A key example is in his very first scene, which has him stabbing an unfortunate lackey in the throat with a knife hidden in his cane.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Acts like a genial grandfatherly figure who's all too happy to knife you in the throat if you've inconvenienced him in any way.
* FictionFiveHundred: His net worth is estimated at $40 billion.
* FightingIrish: In his youth, anyway, back when he was just a lowly thug. Though his first scene shows that he's still got some fight in him.
* FourEyesZeroSoul: Don't let his aspect (an old, visually-impaired man with old-fashioned glasses and health issues) fool you. He's a cold and calculating mastermind who serves as the primary root for many of the evils that are eating Chicago alive.
* HaveYouToldAnyoneElse: He asks Neil if he had the chance to tell anyone they would be meeting in Backseat Driver and upon receiving a negative answer, promptly kills him.
* HollywoodHeartAttack: [[spoiler:He dies this way after Aiden hacks his pacemaker.]]
* TheIrishMob: He's the boss of the Chicago South Club.
* LackOfEmpathy: Notes that he hears tons of people raise complaints about the various actions he undertakes and it all ultimately is just yet another voice complaining to him.
* NonActionBigBad: While he has no problems stabbing someone to death, being a decrepit old man he's not an actual physical threat to anyone who can put up a fight. [[spoiler:The final encounter with Quinn just has him taunting Aiden behind bulletproof glass, only to have his pacemaker hacked]].
* OverlordJr: Niall Quinn becomes the new leader of the Chicago South Club after his father's death. [[GenerationXerox He proves to be just as bad as his old man]].
* PragmaticVillainy: Audio logs reveal that his latest slave auction was "American product", and that he felt pressured to make such a decision despite the risk because he felt his customers demanded it.

* BeardOfEvil: A thin goatee.

* FinalBoss: While it's more of a CutsceneBoss battle, Damian [[spoiler:outlives Quinn]] to become the final antagonizing force left to Aiden.
* AGodAmI: Has a pretty hefty complex regarding coding, which Aiden calls him out on more than once. [[spoiler:Goes into overdrive when he gains control over [=ctOS=] and causes havoc all over Chicago]].

* NeverMyFault: Damien drunkenly blames Aiden for his beatdown and crippling, despite the fact that it was Damien who refused to pull out when the alarms started to go off. An action that got him crippled and Aidens niece killed.
* RummageSaleReject: He might have been taken more seriously if he didn't dress like an aging hipster.
* SmugSnake: For all his arrogance and delusions of grandeur, he has little power on his own and his master plan boils down to [[spoiler:kidnapping Nikki]] and forcing Aiden to do all his work for him. Once Aiden discovers [[spoiler:his backroom deals with Blume over the blackmail that Aiden has yet to give him]], it becomes obvious that he's in over his head and he's completely outwitted not too long afterward.
* VillainousBreakdown: Starts his breakdown in Act 2 when it becomes clear that Aiden refuses to follow commands. [[spoiler:After acting like a SmugSnake for much of the game, Damien finally loses it when Aiden leaks Iraq's blackmail data to the public rather than handing it over to Damien. 418* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Their color is orange, worn by all of their forces.
* {{Expy}}: They're based off the real-life Chicago Vice Lords, who like the Viceroys were infamous through the city and ran their operations out of the projects that were supposed to cut down on gang violence.
* GangBangers: Only the low-level members of the gang operate like the trope, though. Most of the higher-ups have been given military training by Iraq and have equipment way beyond what a street gang should. The low-level operations are just a show to fool anyone watching from suspecting what the Black Viceroys really are.
-->'''Jordi''': What the fuck? [[WrongGenreSavvy I was expecting a bunch of twitchy kids with cheap guns]]. These guys feel military.

* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Averted; many of their gunmen wear no identifying colors, though some unsurprisingly wear green.
* EqualOpportunityEvil: The Irish South Club employs members of the predominantly African-American Black Viceroys as associates.

* TheIrishMob: In case if it weren't already obvious. Though ironically, in terms of structure and influence they resemble their former rivals TheMafia.
* HumanTraffickers: The group holds auctions that sell off any victims to the highest bidders, starting in 2003.

* BigBad: In ''Bad Blood''.
* CharacterDeath: At the end of ''Bad Blood''. [[spoiler:[[AmbiguousSituation Or maybe not.]]]]
* CultClassic: InUniverse example when it comes to his music. After [[spoiler:his ([[AmbiguousSituation supposed]]) death in ''Bad Blood'']], his music has become this among hackers according to in-game descriptions in ''VideoGame/WatchDogs2'' of outfits inspired by him, with some members of [=DedSec=] even listening to his music 'ironically.'
* CoolCar: His Rosewood. It's a souped-up station wagon that has LED lights showing his insignia taking up the back windows. The fact that what is effectively a ''station wagon'' is classified as a ''performance vehicle''[[note]]And is, statistically-speaking, one of the best cars in the game[[/note]] tells you all you need to know.
* EvilCounterpart: To Aiden.
* {{Expy}}: DJ with a rodent-themed helmet? Music/Deadmau5, is that you?
* TheFaceless: We never see what's under his helmet. This incidentally makes it extremely easy for him to pull a FakingTheDead, [[spoiler:which he does. Potentially twice.]]
* FlippingTheBird: Does this to Aiden when Aiden hacks his webcam at [=DotConnexion=]. [[spoiler:It was actually Defalt's body double baiting him.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: At the end of ''Bad Blood'' [[spoiler:Defalt tries to kill T-Bone using poison gas. T-Bone ends up using Frewer's phone to hack an air vent, which sends the gas flooding into the room Defalt's in instead]].
* ItsPersonal: [[spoiler:Blume affiliates in ''Bad Blood'' noted that he was willing to go after T-Bone for free.]]
* JackTheRipoff: By the events of ''VideoGame/WatchDogs2'', he's become so notorious of a hacker that he inspired an entire group of copycats, complete with his rat head masks. You can even unlock outfits inspired by him through online matches or DLC. ''VideoGame/WatchDogsLegion'' in particular allows you to unlock a playable replica of his mask, turning an operative into a full-blown LegacyCharacter in a side quest that [[spoiler:heavily implies that he either has a particularly dedicated copycat in London, or this time, [[TheRealRemingtonSteele it really was him]] that left posters for a party of his in London, and that he pulled the same trick on T-bone that he did on Aiden.]]
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: [[spoiler: After surviving his scuffle with Aiden and getting away with his crimes in the main game, Default finally receives his comeuppance in the DLC ''Bad Blood'' after T-Bone hacks into Default's air vents and seemingly kills Default with his own gas. Downplayed, since you won't even know he survives the main game if you didn't play ''Bad Blood''.]]
* KickTheDog: One of his text taunts Aiden for failing to keep Lena safe.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: He seemingly officially bites the dust in ''Bad Blood'', courtesy of T-Bone.]] ''VideoGame/WatchDogsLegion'', however, [[spoiler:either retconned this, or he has a really, really dedicated JackTheRipoff.]]
* LackOfEmpathy: A couple of his taunts are ''really'' below the belt.
-->'''E-mail from Defalt:''' Subject: "why Defalt will always win..."; Message: "because Defalt sees the future, pearce is too busy looking at the past"
* LaughingMad: [[spoiler:In ''Bad Blood,'' he giggles like a raving lunatic when T-Bone sees his effigies of the victims of the blackout and when T-Bone is about to be gassed. His mask's voice distortions actually manage to make it sound even more insane.]]
* OhCrap: Defalt's reaction to the ease with which Aiden deals with the fixers he sends after him. See WorthyOpponent below for details on how he reacts to this.
* PlayfulHacker: A bit ''too'' playful. And not nearly as funny when he's doing it to ''you''.
* PracticallyJoker: While he is initially a PlayfulHacker {{Troll}} in the main game, ''Bad Blood'' plays him up as this with respect to Raymond Kenney, from his LaughingMad demeanor to his desire to get under Kenney's skin for [[spoiler:allowing for the suicide of his brother during the blackout]], on top of being very much a PsychopathicManchild, making him into the hacker equivalent to the Joker.
* PsychoForHire: After being rejected by [=DedSec=], his only loyalty is to the highest bidder.
* PsychopathicManchild: Picture a particularly annoying {{Troll}} in your online game of choice, the kind who constantly trash talks you and spews [[LeetLingo leet speak]] like a broken faucet, and you have a rough approximation of what dealing with Defalt is like. The "psychopathic" part gets [[AxCrazy extra emphasis]] in ''Bad Blood'', where it becomes quite clear that this guy has a few screws loose, to the point where in a few scenes, he's the hacker equivalent of ComicBook/TheJoker.
* PunchClockVillain: Like Jordi, there's nothing indicating that Defalt has any beef with Aiden. The only reason he bothers Aiden at all is because [[spoiler:he was hired by Quinn after Clara wanted nothing more to do with him]]. Averted in ''Bad Blood'', where ItsPersonal.
* TheResenter: Towards [=DedSec=]. He wanted to join them, and by all rights, he's more than talented enough to qualify. They rejected him because he [[AttentionWhore refuses to be anonymous]] and [[ItsAllAboutMe seemed to care more about his own infamy than [=DedSec=]'s goals]]. He never got over it and has held a grudge against them ever since.
* SilentBob: Only has one line in the main campaign (a [[EvilSoundsDeep heavily distorted]] "I am Defalt. Welcome to my party."), otherwise communicates through text messages. [[spoiler: Subverted in the Bad Blood DLC where he is more talkative.]]
* TheUnfettered: He's willing to go to all sorts of lengths [[spoiler:all to make T-Bone pay for ‘killing’ his brother.]] It helps that he's also quite unhinged.
* {{Troll}}: His sole purpose in life appears to be pissing people off.
* VillainCred: Clara and T-Bone both note how good of a hacker Defalt is, to the point where he can send messages to Aiden through others' phones and mess with their [=ctOS=] profiles for the same reason, and Aiden is legitimately impressed by his firewall designs.
* VillainousBreakdown: When the gas fills his room, he starts trying desperately to save himself before ultimately FlippingTheTable and succumbing to the fumes [[DieLaughing giggling like a lunatic.]]
* WorthyOpponent: Defalt is surprised at how easily Aiden deals with the Fixers and is eager to engage in a game of DuelingHackers with him. The feeling is mutual to some degree.
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler:His brother was interned in a psychiatric ward on suicide watch when Ray Kenney's infamous blackout hit. The blackout allowed his brother to escape, and then commit suicide. Defalt blamed Kenney for his death and wants {{revenge}}, which results in the plot for ''Bad Blood.'']]

--> '''Voiced by''': Holly O'Brien (English), Larisa Nekipelova (Russian)

The Chief Communications Officer (CCO) of Blume Corporation, the company responsible for implementing ctOS.
----
* [[AmbiguouslyChristian Ambiguously Mormon]]: Aiden's profile indicates she was raised Mormon.
* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler: While her attempt to capture/kill T-Bone did fail, she gets elected Interim Mayor of Chicago, and her company starts spreading an upgraded ctOS to every major city in the world.]]
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Is TheFace of a MegaCorp involved in a lot of shady dealings, and she sends assassins after T-Bone once Brenks tells her where he is.
* ForScience: Audio recordings indicate she has this attitude toward ctOS.
--> The predictive algorithm is a remarkable program. Yes, Sir. But this is more than a standard Bellwether model. It holds great potential. We've already seen it in action with the election. Beyond that, yes. Essentially it's able to adapt... understand... and learn. I can see by your expressions you're as excited about this as I am.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Has no real stake in Aiden's RoaringRampageOfRevenge, and ultimately benefits from the results.
* KarmaHoudini: Note how she's the ''only'' character on this page who is in a better place than she started when the main story ends.
* MouthOfSauron: Serves as one for Blume.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: In the eyes of the public, Blume sought to make everyone's lives better through ctOS and nobody suspect that the system can be hacked easily. [[spoiler:Following the events of the game, ctOS is declared a success and Blume expands the system to other cities while Gardner herself was elected as Interim Mayor of Chicago]].

* AccidentalMurder: [[spoiler:During an argument with Rose Washington, Rushmore accidentally killed her by when he pushed her too hard against a shelf and a lamp fell onto her head.]]
* AmbiguousSituation: [[spoiler:Rushmore turned up dead during the credits but no one knows whether he committed suicide or assassinated]].
* BecomingTheMask: After he is reelected, Rushmore starts acting like the "man of the people" and genuinely tries to help the people of Chicago, going as far as trying to pull out of Quinn and Blume's pockets.
* CorruptPolitician: He has connections to the Chicago South Club as well as Blume.
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: Rushmore started to act more like the "man of the people", going against Quinn and Blume. [[spoiler:It is most likely this puts a hit on him at the end of the game due to Quinn seeing him as a loose end]].
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: Aiden and T-Bone release Quinn's blackmail of Rushmore to the public, ensuring all his crimes, [[spoiler: including Rose Washington's murder]] is revealed.
* MinorMajorCharacter: You would think a highly corrupt mayor who helped establish ctOS in Chicago would be a major antagonist in the story. However, Aiden and he never crossed paths before [[spoiler: though Rushmore did play a role in Lena's death]].
* PuppetKing: Rushmore is simply a puppet with Lucky Quinn being the one pulling the strings.

[[folder: Rose Washington (Unmarked Spoilers)]]
!!Rose Washington

A woman whose name came up a few times throughout the game. Washington was Raymond Kenney and Tobias Frewer's former co-worker at Blume and was either fired or forced to resign around the same time the former was.
----
* PlotTriggeringDeath: Her death was secretly recorded and used to blackmail Rushmore. Iraq's attempt to find the video ended up putting a mark on Aiden and Damien, setting up the plot of the game.
* PosthumousCharacter: She is long dead by the time of the game. Even T-Bone is shocked to find out she is dead.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Despite long dead, Washington played a big role in not only establishing ctOS but also turning Aiden into a ruthless vigilante.
* WalkingSpoiler: This woman plays an important role in the story but players will not know until near the end of the game.
