-->'''Voiced by:''' Saburo Shinoda (''Ultraman Taro''; now stock grunts), Creator/MasakoNozawa (''Film/UltramanStory''; childhood), Creator/HiroyaIshimaru (''Ultraman Story'' onwards)\
'''Voiced in English by:''' Bill Sullivan (Series/UltraGalaxyFightNewGenerationHeroes), Jim Foronda (Series/UltramanZ)

The son of the [[Series/UltramanAce Father]] and Mother of Ultra, Ultraman Taro is the sixth and youngest of the iconic Ultra Brothers ([[Series/{{Ultraman}} Zoffy, Ultraman]], Series/{{Ultraseven}}, [[Series/ReturnOfUltraman Ultraman Jack]], and Series/UltramanAce) who has trained as a warrior since he was just a boy. He merged with a young man named Kotaro, who was revived by the Ultra Brothers when he was killed trying to battle Astromons. Ultraman Taro has gone on to become one of the most important Ultra heroes in the franchise, as he trains newer heroes in the Land of Light, has appeared as a major character in other series, and even had his own movie. Taro would later become the father of Series/UltramanTaiga in the Reiwa Era.
----
* ActionBomb: The Ultra Dynamite, one of his most well-known secondary abilities, allows him to become this. He reforms afterwards, but it costs a huge amount of his Colour Timer energy.
* ActionDad: He's the father of Ultraman Taiga, one of the first Reiwa Ultras.
* BadassCape: By the time Ultraman Mebius came along, the Showa Ultramen back in M-78 began wearing long flowing capes. The change was confirmed in ''Film/MegaMonsterBattleUltraGalaxyLegends''.
* BashBrothers: With Series/UltramanAce, who is actually his adopted brother.
* CallingYourAttacks: The first Ultra in the series to do this.
-->'''"STORIUM KOUSEN!"'''
* FinishingMove: The Storium Ray; notable for being done in a T-shape, rather than the typical "L" or "+" shape.
* HandBlast: Like most Ultras, he can fire various lesserbeam attacks from his hands.
* HornAttack: Able to shoot lightning from his horns. Often used to blow off monsters' body parts in close combat.
* HornedHumanoid: Inherited from his dad, one of the few Ultramen with horns.
* MeaningfulName: Taro is a popular name for the protagonists of Japanese fairy tales, and as Tsuburaya considers ''Ultraman Taro'' to be the fairy tale of the franchise, it was chosen for the series' hero.
* TheMentor: In later Ultra series, as his job back in the Land of Light is to train new Ultra warriors. Notable pupils of his are Series/UltramanMebius and Series/UltramanGinga.
* MommasBoy: He dearly loves his mother and respects her teachings.
* PowerGlows: When unleashing his Storium Kousen, Taro will glow entirely in a series of rainbow-coloured lights, a trait which is carried over to his future appearances in the series.
* RookieRedRanger: In his own series, in which he was considered this among the Ultra Brothers. He's matured quite a bit since then.
* SwissArmyWeapon: The King Bracelet, which he first got from his mother to defeat Birdon.
* UncannyFamilyResemblance: Bears several of Series/UltraSeven's traits, such as shoulder armor, a head lamp, and identical-looking eyes. Officially, this is because Seven is his cousin.

!!Mother of Ultra
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ultra_mother_0.png]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Peggy Hayama (''Ultraman Taro''; also human form actor), Masako Ikeda (''Film/UltramanStory'' and ''Series/UltramanMebius''), Rie Hasegawa (''Film/MegaMonsterBattleUltraGalaxyLegends''), Miki Ohtani (''Series/UltramanGinga'' onwards)
Ultrawoman Marie, the wife of the Father of Ultra and the literal mother of Ultraman Taro. The Mother of Ultra (or Ultra Mother) is the chief of the Land of Light's Silver Cross Corps -- the Space Garrison's medical division. She is a powerful healer, but also regularly drops advice and combat assistance for her son and husband when necessary.
----
* ActionMom: She aids Taro in his titular series and briefly held her own against Belial.
* AliensAmongUs: She is one of several Ultras who takes on a human form instead of a host, appearing as a kindly middle-aged woman known only as "the Lady in Green" if she wishes to speak to Kotaro.
* BadassCape: Similar to her husband, she too dons a red cape to reflect her status.
* BigGood: For ''Taro'', as Taro's mother and the one who gives him guidance throughout. For the franchise as a whole, she and the Ultra Father form a Big Good [[BigBadDuumvirate Duumvirate]].
* CoolOldLady: She's the grandmother of Ultraman Taiga.
* CombatMedic: She's the matriarch of the Silver Cross Corps and fought in the Ultimate Wars.
* HappilyMarried: By all accounts, her marriage to Father of Ultra is a happy one.
* LadyOfWar: See CombatMedic.
* TheMedic: Acts as one for the Ultra Brothers, with her powers going up to revival of the recently deceased.
* TheMentor: For Taro in his own series.
* NumberTwo: As her husband is the Father of Ultra, Supreme Commander of the Space Garrison, she is only second to him in importance in the organization.
* SpecialPersonNormalName: Her real name is Marie, according to ''Film/MegaMonsterBattleUltraGalaxyLegends''.
* TeamMom: Plays this role for the Ultra Brothers, and is literally one for Taro.

[[caption-width-right:350:"[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaeVLdB5bHo Roku kyoudai]]!" - '''L - R''': [[Series/{{Ultraman}} Zoffy, Ultraman]], Series/{{Ultraseven}}, Taro, [[Series/ReturnOfUltraman Jack]], [[Series/UltramanAce Ace]].]]

Much like the [[Series/UltramanAce previous show]], the Ultra Brothers make a comeback as well, this time with "'''Six Ultra Brothers'''" being coined by the franchise as the go-to term for referring to the first six Showa-Era Ultramen.
Ultraman Taro is also the show which the iconic "Six Brothers" theme ("''Urutora Roku Kyōdai''") made it's debut, and for the first time, audiences get to see all six of them working in tandem to defeat the MonsterOfTheWeek. Notably Alien Temperor, and then to fetch the Ultra Bell to counter Mururoa, and in TheMovie, ''Film/UltramanStory'', battling the powerful juggernaut monster Grand King.
----
* AllYourPowersCombined: The six brothers pooled their powers in order to defeat Alien Temperor in the two-parter, and later to retrieve the Ultra Bell.
* CombinationAttack: They tend to perform these in tandem with Taro.
* ContinuityNod: In the Alien Temperor two-parter, the original Ultra Brothers have to "borrow" the bodies of several MAT staff as hosts in order to observe their youngest brother, Taro, in combat. Their merging with hosts is depicted as a semi-transparent, ghost-like form of their Ultraman bodies descending into their hosts - the exact same manner as Ultraman Jack merging with Hideki in the pilot of ''Series/ReturnOfUltraman''.
* ADeathInTheLimelight: Zoffy, in the second part of the Birdon three-parter, while defending a hospital. Don't worry, he gets better thanks to the Mother of Ultra.
* HeroicSacrifice: Don't worry, DeathIsCheap.
** Ultraman Zoffy gave up his life holding back Birdon, in order to prevent the monster from destroying a hospital. He lost, but he managed to drive the monster away before his death, and Taro came back in time - resurrected - to challenge Birdon on a rematch.
** Ultraman Jack offering his Color Timer to Dorobon, in exchange for the life of ZAT Deputy Captain Kazumi. He gets his Timer back on a few minutes later, but still...
* LetMeAtHim: During the second episode of the Alien Temperor two-parter, the Ultra Brothers, Taro included, are having a party in their human forms, and Taro (who had defeated Alien Temperor on his own via [[KillItThroughItsStomach bursting out of the alien's stomach]]) boasts that his training is complete, he's more than prepared to face whatever incoming threats and his brothers can "spare him the pep talk". As the oblivious Taro (as Higashi) cheerfully walks away, an enraged Ace (as Hokuto) flies in a rage and angrily tried lashing out, only for Jack (as Hideki) to restrain him.
* SquashedFlat: The fate of poor Ultraman Jack after having his Timer ripped off.
* TheWorfEffect:
** Unfortunately, the brothers end up becoming various Worfs when the nigh-unstoppable monster, Tyrant, which is created by the collective hatred of the Ultra by various kaiju, arrives to challenge them. They end up being taken down one by one - Ultraman on Uranus, Seven on Saturn, Jack on Jupiter, and Ace on Mars - but the moment Tyrant reaches Earth to battle Taro, Taro emerged the winner.
** Zoffy himself suffers this trope when he gets defeated, and outright ''killed'', by Birdon in the middle of a three-parter. Though to be fair, taking Birdon in a head on fight ended just as bad for Tarou as it had Zoffy, and Zoffy actually managed to ''hurt'' Birdon, which Tarou hadn't been able to. Also, Zoffy made a trip back to M-78 to drop Tarou off, then came back to fight Birdon.

!!Oil Drinker
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oil_drinker_night.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': The Ultra Mother is Like the Sun
The very last of [[Series/UltramanAce Yapool's Choju]] to attack Earth (for the time being), targeting oil rigs for both sustenance and destruction. However, the monster soon met its end when a greater threat emerge to ZAT in the form of Astromons, who devoured the unfortunate Choju.
----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: When it first appeared Kotaro managed to use a mechanical crane to scare it off.
* {{Expy}}: Its design was based on Garan from ''Series/UltramanAce''.
* NounVerber: Oil Drinker does pretty much exactly ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin.
* SeaMonster: It's an aquatic Choju that attacks oil rigs and tankers.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Sometimes called Oilmons.
* TheWorfEffect: The idea behind Oil Drinker being consumed by Astromons was to demonstrate that the new generation of kaiju in ''Series/UltramanTaro'' would be far more powerful and dangerous than the Choju of ''Series/UltramanAce''.

!!Astromons
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/astromons_10.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': The Ultra Mother is Like the Sun
A strange flower that Kotaro had discovered during his sailing years and brought home to Japan to grow. Unfortunately, the flower was the sprout form of Astromons, which quickly grew into its mature form to rampage through Tokyo and attack both ZAT and Oil Drinker. Given Astromons’ ability to keep up with and defeat Oil Drinker, the monster is the first ‘Super-Ability Monster’, a class of Kaiju applied to several other monsters in this series, including Cosmo Liquid, Live King, Depparas, Rodera, Rindon, Mukadender and Mururoa.
----
* AcidAttack: Can spray an acidic mist from the giant flower on its belly.
* BreathWeapon: [[InformedAbility Although it never does this in the show]], WordOfGod has stated that Astromons is able to breathe fire.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: Kotaro himself planted the flower allowing Astromons to be born.
* FoulFlower: Begins as an extraterrestrial flower called a Tigris Flower that Kotaro had discovered during his world trip. The flower on its chest is all that remains when it grows up, and it is able to devour other creatures and spray acid.
* HookHand: Astromons' left arm is a giant hook-shaped appendage.
* MakeWayForTheNewVillains: Easily disposes of Oil Drinker, showing that the kaiju in this show will be a greater threat than the Choju of the previous show.
* MetamorphosisMonster: First appears as a giant flower that sprays knockout pollen and has bloodsucking vines, but eventually grows to full size...and in the middle of ZAT dealing with Oil Drinker's rampage.
* MixAndMatchCritters: Its mature form resembles a dinosaur mixed with a flower.
* StarterVillain: Although not the first kaiju encountered in the series, it is the first opponent of Ultraman Taro.
* SwallowedWhole: Does this to Oil Drinker via the flower on its stomach -- an homage to Bemstar from ''Series/ReturnOfUltraman'', whose suit Astromons was created from.

!!Cosmo Liquid
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cosmo_liquid.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': This Time, It's the Ultra Mother
A man-eating monster with the ability to transform into liquid, which made it a serious pest for ZAT to hunt down and attack. Things got even worse with the awakening of Live King, resulting in a three-way battle once Ultraman Taro joined to try and get rid of both monsters.
----
* AchillesHeel: Due to the fact that Cosmoliquids is composed out of water, electricity is particularly harmful to it and will force Cosmo Liquid to take on its normal form if in liquid form.
* ElementalShapeshifter: Can transform into water, allowing it to slink through rivers completely undetected and strike at human targets without warning.
* LiterallyShatteredLives: [[spoiler:ZAT destroys Cosmo Liquid by smashing it with a spiked wrecking ball after Ultraman Taro freezes both him and Live King.]]
* MeleeATrois: Engages in one with Ultraman Taro and Live King.
* OverlyLongTongue: Cosmoliquids' main weapon, which it uses to snatch human prey.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Also called Cosmoliquids.
* SoreLoser: when Live King knocks him down he starts throwing a fit as Live King continues to laugh at him.
* ToServeMan: Likes to eat humans.

!!Live King
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/live_king_i.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': This Time, It's the Ultra Mother
-->'''Voiced by:''' Osamu Saka
A jovial monster with a big belly and an even bigger appetite that was awoken from underground by the scuffle between Ultraman Taro and Cosmo Liquid. Live King proved to be an even bigger nuisance than Cosmo Liquid in the resulting three-way battle, thanks to its potent regenerative abilities.
----
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Easily one of the goofiest kaiju ever created, but Live King sure gave Taro and ZAT a tough time! It took the intervention of the Mother of Ultra to finally kill the damn thing.
* BigEater: Even while still regenerating, the monster consumes an entire henhouse!
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* DieLaughing: Kept doing his booming laughs even while exploding!
* ExposedAnimalBellybutton: Has a very prominent navel that ZAT punches a hole through to free Kotaro and Kenichi when they get swallowed by the monster, not that it seriously injures Live King.
* FatBastard: Although his jolly personality and big belly would make him seem like an example of BigFun, the fact that Live King's a destructive giant monster means he's this trope instead.
* FromASingleCell: Live King can regenerate within a matter of hours upon death as long as there is oxygen surrounding it, which made it a colossal annoyance to kill.
* TheHyena: His "roars" are a series of hearty laughs, rather than the psychotic giggling common to other laughing kaiju like [[Series/UltramanGaia Gan Q]].
* MeleeATrois: Engages in one with Ultraman Taro and Cosmo Liquid.
* NotQuiteDead: Despite being blown to pieces by Taro it manages to regenerate good as new the next day.
* OurMonstersAreWeird: Pot-bellied, duck-faced kaiju that constantly guffaws and regenerates as long as there is oxygen. Definitely one of the less normal kaiju in the ''Franchise/UltraSeries'', but an excellent introduction to the zaniness that is ''Series/UltramanTaro''.
* PsychopathicManchild: Gives off this vibe with its constant laughter especially when it's devouring its prey.

!!King Tortoise and Queen Tortoise
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/king_&_queen.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:240:Left: King Tortoise\
Right: Queen Tortoise]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Giant Sea Turtle Monsters Attack Tokyo
A mated pair of turtle monsters that lived on an island off the coast of Japan, protecting their eggs from intruders. However, they went on a rampage when greedy human smugglers stole their eggs and ate them, as the enraged parent monsters became determined to destroy the interfering humans at all costs.
----
* BreathWeapon: Both monsters can spit bombs from their mouths. King Tortoise's act like standard aerial bombs, while Queen Tortoise's are {{Sticky Bomb}}s.
* CombinationAttack: They do much of their fighting together and protect each other at all costs, often using combo abilities.
* {{Expy}}: To [[Series/ReturnOfUltraman Seamons and Seagoras]], a kaiju couple who only wants to find their own mating grounds, and works in tandem when they're forced to defend themselves. However, the Tortoises are portrayed in a much more sympathetic manner.
** Also, a tortoise monster that flies by spinning. [[Film/{{Gamera}} Sound familiar?]]
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: Both King Tortoise and Queen Tortoise had lived completely in peace until a gang of unscrupulous poachers came and took all of their eggs to be sold and/or eaten, making the human criminals the only real villains in the conflict.
* MamaBear / PapaWolf: They are ''furious'' when the humans begin to mess with their nest and attack them for it.
* MonsterIsAMommy: The Tortoises are solely interested in avenging their eggs when the smugglers eat them, only to be further enraged by the JSDF's hostility towards the monsters. Even Ultraman Taro starts feeling bad for them after [[spoiler:Queen Tortoise is killed.]]
* NonMaliciousMonster: Their rampage was completely justified by what the humans did to them. [[spoiler:So Ultraman Taro decides to spare them and find them a new homeworld instead, although Queen Tortoise never lives to see it.]]
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Their motivation was to kill every last human responsible for stealing and destroying their eggs, even if they had to trash all of Tokyo in the process.
* SpinAttack: King Tortoise can retract into their shells and spin vertically opposite of each other to create a vortex of energy that traps foes in it.

!!Mini Tortoise
[[quoteright:175:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/minit.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Parent Star, Child Star, First Star
The son of King and Queen Tortoise who hatches from their sole surviving egg during the giant sea turtle monsters' climactic showdown with Ultraman Taro, ZAT, and the JSDF in the middle of Tokyo, leading to a major turn of events in the massive battle between the monsters and the humans.
----
* GentleGiant: He's a completely peaceful monster, and he refuses to participate in his parents battle against Ultraman Taro, ZAT, and the JSDF.
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: Mini Tortoise is only the size of a human when he hatches, so King Tortoise fires a beam from his head to increase his height to 42 meters.

!!Jirenma
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dilemma.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Jewels are the Monster's Fodder
A slug-like monster from Egypt that appeared Japan due to the powers of a cursed necklace that Kotaro had brought back home from his sailing years. Kotaro gave the necklace to Saori as a gift, unaware of its cursed properties, which soon resulted in her home being terrorized by the monstrous mollusk.
----
* BreathWeapon: Can spray an acid from its mouth capable of dissolving a building.
* EnergyAbsorption: Jirenma begins as a tiny creature, but when it absorbs a beam from Kotaro's ray gun, it metamorphoses into its giant form.
* ExtraEyes: Have at least four, two on it's head and two more on eye-stalks. Which leads to....
* EyeScream: Taro rips off Jirenma's eye-stalks in the peak of battle.
* ImplacableMan: It will stop at nothing to get the necklace back whether it be tearing down buildings or killing anything in its way.
* KickTheDog: Literally. It kills the Shiratoris' pet dog Pochi when it first appears.
* LogicalWeakness: Jirenma's highly-acidic breathe is strong enough to subdue even Ultraman Taro, but then ZAT deduce that they could counter the acidic properties with alkalic solutions. Cue a ZAT jet assisting Ultraman Taro by unleashing a powerful dose of alkalic spray all over the Ultra, allowing Taro to NoSell all of Jirenma's attacks and turn the battle around.
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: Kotaro unintentionally does this when he fires his ray gun at Jirenma making it a giant monster
* OverlyLongTongue: Which Jirenma uses to try and strangle Ultraman Taro during their fight.
* SealedEvilInACan: A giant monster whose default form is a harmless-looking necklace.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Also called Dilemma.
* TongueTrauma: While it attempts choking Ultraman Taro with it's tongue, Taro instead uses his horn beams to sever it. And then grab the stump to execute a [[HumanHammerThrow kaiju hammer throw]] on Jirenma.

!!Ganza
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ultrmn_tr_grnz.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Heaven and Hell Island Has Moved
A crab-like monster that smashed ships off the coast of Japan and eluded detection quite successfully. However, when ZAT showed up to search for the creature, they instead found a very unusual island that, after landing on it, seemed to be moving...
----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes an acidic mist that coalesces into foam on impact.
* DetachmentCombat: It can remove its claws and fire them like rockets at its enemy.
* FemaleMonsterSurprise: [[spoiler:After Ultraman Taro kills Ganza, hundreds of large crabs scuttle out of its corpse, which the narrator explains are the creature's young. The baby crabs then get fished up and eaten by locals, which we can only hope prevented an outbreak of Ganzas from occurring later on.]]
* GiantEnemyCrab: So giant that ZAT mistook it for an island when they found it sleeping and decided to land on it for a nice little rest.
* PowerPincers: Ganza can launch its pincers as missiles and regenerate them in an instant.
* SeaMonster: Of the crustaceous variety, complete with wrecking ships down the coastlines.
* ThatsNoMoon: ZAT mistakes the sleeping monster as a floating island. Tt's only when Tagarl shows up that the monster awakens.

!!Tagarl
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tagarl.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Heaven and Hell Island Has Moved
An octopus monster that appeared shortly after ZAT located Ganza (and discovered they had literally been standing on the creature for several hours). Tagarl does battle with the crab monster but is swiftly defeated and sinks back into the waves, never to be seen again.
----
* BreathWeapon: Squirts ink from its nozzle-like mouth.
* ButtMonkey: Solely appears to have its butt whooped by Ganza.

* GiantSquid: An octopus kaiju.
* SeaMonster: Of the cephalopod variety, complete with a BehemothBattle with another sea monster.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Tagarl solely appears in a single brief fight scene and disappears just as quickly once Ganza defeats it. However, it does finally alert ZAT to why Heaven and Hell Island has moved several hundred meters from where they originally spotted it.

----
* AmphibianAtLarge: It's a giant toad kaiju.
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire. Additionally, Tondaile's transparent capture orbs are spat from its mouth, though they only seem to work on human-sized opponents.
* EyeScream: One of Tondaile's eyes gets poked out by the human characters tossing a knife into it.
* HitodamaLight: The source of these in the swamps it lives in, creating legends of man-eating spirits.

-->'''First Appearance''': The Day that Tokyo Crumbles
Rat-sized, fire-breathing ants capable of chewing through steel and concrete, which they used make skyscrapers crumble and leave ZAT scratching their heads despite sightings by Kenichi and his friends. They later merged into a kaiju in order to destroy the rest of Tokyo.
----
* BigCreepyCrawlies: They're a colony of ants so big that Kenichi and his friends could hear then chewing from inside the buildings they nested in. Then there's their singular kaiju form, which draws inspiration from winged drones.
* BreathWeapon: In both kaiju and normal form, Arindo breathes fire. The kaiju version also breathes acid.
* EatDirtCheap: The Arindo ants consume steel and concrete, making them sorta like termites for an urbanized metropolis with disastrous results for Tokyo's skyscrapers.
* FusionDance: To battle Ultraman Taro, the Arindo ants transform themselves into a kaiju by merging together.
* TheJuggernaut: Arindo was completely unfazed by the Storium Ray, which forced Ultraman Taro to introduce audiences and the monster to his mighty Ultra Dynamite.
* MetalMuncher: They eat steel.
* ShockAndAwe: Arindo electrocutes Taro by channeling electricity down its antennae when the hero attempts to rip them off in the fight.

----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* NonMaliciousMonster: Starts off as one due to simply being interested in finding food, but after ZAT kills it, the zombie proves to be much more vengeful.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: Comes back as a zombie to continue its rampage and avenge its first death at the hands of ZAT.
* PullingThemselvesTogether: ZAT kills Depparas with no help from Taro in their initial encounter with the monster, only for its body parts to reassemble themselves into a zombie.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Depparas loves to eat ketchup, which is why it came to Japan in the first place.
* TunnelKing: Traveled to Japan from the Arctic by burrowing underneath Tokyo once it reached dry land.
* WeaponTombstone: As the episode title implies, Taro erects a grave in its honour by using its tusks as a makeshift cross after he kills it permanently.
* WilyWalrus: A walrus-based kaiju able to shoot its tusks like missiles and revive itself from the dead.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: An innocent creature whose only crime was that it really wanted ketchup, is killed by ZAT and comes back as a zombie to claim vengeance on humanity.

* KillItWithFire: [[spoiler:How Taro kills it.]]
* ManEatingPlant: Drinks human blood by stretching out vines from the flowers and ivy that make up its mass in search of victims.
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Basara is a mass of ivy and flowers manifesting from the grave of a little girl (as the episode's title suggests, the girl's ghost spawned the monster), giving the monster a thirst for blood.
* PullingThemselvesTogether: Taro finds this out when his Storium Ray blows Basara to pieces, as the flowers, leaves, and vines simply reassemble themselves.
* ShockAndAwe: Can channel electricity through its vines.
* VineTentacles: Uses it's vines to constrict Taro during their fight.

----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes an explosive and poisonous gas.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: [[spoiler: To save the boy's father Taro rips out the monster's stomach from its mouth. Ouch!]]

-->'''First Appearance''': The Monster's Cavity Hurts!
A marine monster that lived off the coast of Kyushu, where it was content with just keeping to itself and eating fish. However, it was driven to the surface in agonized rage when ZAT tested a missile near its home, only for said weapon to get wedged in the monster's teeth.
----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* NonMaliciousMonster: Sheltar was purely just going crazy from the pain of having a missile stuck in its teeth, and is otherwise a peaceful creature. [[spoiler:That doesn't stop ZAT and Ultraman Taro from killing the kaiju anyways after they removed the missile from its teeth.]]
* SeaMonster: Liked to hide on the seafloor away from humans until ZAT accidentally pissed it off with a botched missile test.
* TheToothHurts: Sheltar's entire story revolves around this, as the creature has an agonizing cavity from a missile wedged in its teeth. ZAT proceeds to make things worse when they accidentally pull out the wrong tooth while trying to help it.

-->'''First Appearance''': Taro's Head Got Chopped Off!

----
* BilingualBonus: The kanji on Enmargo's armor reads "Great King", while its hat's kanji is simply just "King".
* BreathWeapon: Breathes a poisonous smoke that kills vegetation in seconds, but takes longer to affect living creatures.
* DeusExMachina: [[spoiler: [[TropesAreTools a well written example.]] Enmargo manages to cut Taro's head off but the Buddhist monk's statue is returned and is able to reverse the effect, reattaching Taro's head and cutting off Enmargo's head.]]
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Enmargo's shield can even stop the Storium Ray!
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Derived from Enma, the name of the King of Hell in Japanese Buddhist mythology.
* OffWithHisHead: [[spoiler:His fate.]]
* {{Oni}}: An powerful oni defeated long ago by a Buddhist monk who then the monster imprisoned underneath a mountain.
* {{Samurai}}: Samurai ''oni'', to be exact!
* SealedEvilInACan: The monk who originally defeated Enmargo in ancient times sealed inside a cliff and used a statue of himself to make sure it couldn't be freed again. However, a construction company dynamites the cliff and gets rid of the statue...

!!Miegon
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miegon_ii.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Young Girl of the Blue Will-O-Wisp
A nine-tailed [[AsianFoxSpirit Kitsune]] monster that was responsible for killing the mother of a shunned young girl named Kaoru several years ago. It returned in the present to use its fiery magic tricks to deceive Kaoru by impersonating the ghost of her dead mother to lure her to her doom.
----
* AsianFoxSpirit: Based on the kitsune, even though it doesn't look much like one.
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* {{Invisibility}}: One of its favorite abilities to confuse enemies.
* KickTheDog: Many years ago it killed Kaoru's mom, traumatizing her.

* PlayingWithFire: Miegon can conjure sparks that upon hitting the ground will generate fires and explosions.
* TeleportSpam: An ability that befits the trickery of the mythical Kitsune.

!!Okariyan
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/okariyan_1.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': When the Monster's Flute Sounds
A bizarre monster that is summoned by the music of a cursed woodwind instrument owned by a flutist boy who got it from his deceased grandfather (who was found with the instrument and mysteriously squashed flat). Okariyan is attracted to the instrument's music and will relentlessly hunt down its source as long as the music is being played.
----
* {{Gonk}}: Okariyan is considered by many fans to be ''the ugliest'' monster in the entire ''Franchise/UltraSeries'', due to how cartoonish it looks compared to other Ultra creatures.
* NoseNuggets: Okariyan's main power is the explosive boogers that it expels from its nostrils as it pleases.
* OurMonstersAreWeird: The living curse of a magical flute in the form of one of the goofiest-looking {{kaiju}} ever. ''Ultraman Taro'''s like that.
* SuperSenses: Okariyan can pinpoint the sound of its cursed flute from anywhere, thanks to its supreme hearing.
* TheToothHurts: Ultraman Taro smashes the monster's buck teeth during the fight.

!!Kemujira
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kemjila_7.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Two Giant Monsters Close in on Taro
Prehistoric insect monsters that had been awoken by the eruption of Mt. Okuma. They proceeded to attack the local summer watermelon farmers and eat their watermelons, with one managing to grow to full size. However, as ZAT and Ultraman Taro soon discover, the Kemujira were not the real threat...
----
* BigCreepyCrawlies: Loosely based on caterpillars, which is more evident in Kemujira's larval form than in the fully grown kaiju.
* BreathWeapon: Breathes a sticky webbing that can blind humans for long periods.
* CurbStompBattle: It is quickly killed and devourered by Birdon showcasing how much stronger its predator is.
* FoodChainOfEvil: Kemujira's presence was enough of a worry for ZAT, but then its predator Birdon had to show up...
* {{Gasshole}}: During the fight, Taro gets Kemujira's head stuck between two buildings and it retaliates by ''farting'' in Ultraman Taro's face! It tries the same tactic on Birdon, but the predator simply uses its wings to blow the gas away.
* GiganticAdultsTinyBabies: The mature Kemujira stands 47 meters tall, but as a larva, they're small enough to hide inside a watermelon.
* PoisonousPerson: Kemujira has a poisonous stinger in its mouth that can paralyze enemies.
* PrehistoricMonster: The Kemujira larvae were awoken by the same volcano that Birdon was awoken by.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Kemujira or Kemjila?
* TrademarkFavouriteFood: The Kemujira larvae love the taste of watermelon. They initially hide in some watermelons, eating them from the inside and attacking people who cut them open.

!!Birdon
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/birdon_movie_i.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Two Giant Monsters Close in on Taro
A prehistoric avian monster that had been slumbering in volcanic Mt. Okuma until it was awoken by the same eruption that awoke Kemujira. However, it only became known to ZAT when it appeared to battle Kemujira and Ultraman Taro, easily killing both of them (and later Zoffy), leaving ZAT all alone to defeat the seemingly unstoppable kaiju.

Being the only monster of the Showa era series to have a MultiPartEpisode that ran for ''three'' parts and one of the most infamous {{Hero Killer}}s in the ''Franchise/UltraSeries'', Birdon has become Ultraman Taro's most iconic enemy, scoring it regular returns in the franchise. Worth noting is that Birdon's infamous beak stabbing was reworked in later appearances into being venomous.
----
* AchillesHeel: Birdon's sac-like wattle (venom sacs in later series) is its most vulnerable point.
* ArchEnemy: Of Kemujira, its preferred prey.
* BeakAttack: Birdon kills Ultraman Taro and Zoffy by stabbing them to death with its beak. In later series, this was {{retcon}}ned into [[PoisonousPerson being venomous]], though it still remains lethal.
* BlowYouAway: Like many flying kaiju, Birdon's enormous wings can be used to create hurricane-strength gusts of wind.
* BreathWeapon: Able to breathe a stream of fire.
* BreakoutVillain: As Ultraman Taro's most iconic enemy, Birdon has appeared in nearly all entries since it returned in ''Series/UltramanMebius''.
* {{Expy}}: Of {{Film/Rodan}}, both being flying prehistoric monsters that hatch from a volcano. even its connection with Kemujira mirrors that of The Meganulon, with the latter being insectoid kaiju that are seen as the main threat before the former comes in and devours them all, taking the spot swiftly and keeping it for the remainder of their screentime. [[spoiler: Birdon is also defeated by getting thrown inside a volcano, though it's never stated to have been killed and was merely sealed back]]. Later series also have Birdon showing fire powers, not unlike Rodan shown in the following installments.
* FamilyUnfriendlyViolence: The stabbing of Zoffy and Taro, which features grievous wounds on the characters' corpses.
* FeatheredFiend: A ''very'' fiendish one if you're not prepared.
* FemaleMonsterSurprise: [[spoiler:ZAT discovers eggs in its volcano nest and quickly work to destroy them to prevent another Birdon from emerging.]]
* FoodChainOfEvil: The predator of Kemujira and far more dangerous than it, as Ultraman Taro and Zoffy learned the hard way.
* GiantFlyer: Like all bird kaiju.
* HeroKiller: Of both Taro and Zoffy! Which is the reason why Birdon is so popular in the first place. Not even the infamous [[Series/{{Ultraman}} Zetton]] has killed that many Ultramen.
* TheJuggernaut: The fact that the damn thing took three episodes to defeat it in its debut is a testament to its durability. [[spoiler:Ultraman Taro doesn't even kill it in the end! The only thing he can do is seal it back inside the volcano it originated from.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: In a show as cartoonish as Taro, Birdon stands out as a truly serious threat. Nothing about it is played for laughs, ZAT treats the situation much more seriously than they usually do, many of its scenes involve eating people and it straight up kills Taro and the previously undefeated Zoffy.
* LightningBruiser: Incredibly fast flyer (Mach 10) and also a very strong monster.
* MeleeATrois: Engages in this with Kemujira and Taro, although neither of its opponents is much of a match for it.
* AMoltenDateWithDeath: Subverted: [[spoiler: Ultraman Taro seemingly destroys Birdon by tricking it into crashing into an active volcano, which then erupts and seals it for good, but it turns out to be in hibernation]].
* PlayingWithFire: Being a volcano monster, Birdon can breathe fire and is immune to extreme heat, being able to swim in magma.
* PrehistoricMonster: A giant bird sealed away in a volcano.
* ToServeMan: After eating all the Kemujira, Birdon turns to humans to satisfy its hunger after ZAT stops the production of other meat sources in Japan.
* VillainousGlutton: Its huge appetite for meat causes it to devour Kemujira, attack all sources of meat in Japan, and go after humans once ZAT stops all the meat production in an attempt to stop its attacks.
* TheWorfEffect: Killing Zoffy, one of the most powerful Ultra warriors.

!!Raidron
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/raidron_i.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Surprise! A Monster Came Falling Down!
A baby bird monster from outer space that got close to Earth in order to observe fireworks from a Japanese summer festival. Unfortunately, its wing was injured by the aforementioned pyrotechnics, leaving it stranded on Earth and helpless without its mother who could only watch in distress from space.
----
* BreathWeapon: Can spit explosive energy bolts.
* GentleGiant: Raidron is a peaceful kaiju. The baby was injured by fireworks and scared by ZAT's attacks on it (they worried that its presence would endanger the nearby summer festival and sought to drive it away) while the mother is powerless to do anything.
* GiantFlyer: Even the baby Raidron is the same size as Ultraman Taro.
* NonMaliciousMonster: The baby Raidron is on a rampage while searching for it's mother, rather than attacking humans on purpose.
* ShockAndAwe: Can shoot lightning from their crest feathers.

!!King Zemira
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/king_zemira.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Tokyo Newtown Sinking
A cicada that had been slumbering underneath an apartment complex for countless years, turning giant-sized from pollution seeping underground. While the creature did not seek to bother humanity, its awakening and cacophonous buzzing was a major annoyance for Tokyo.
----
* AttackTheMouth: He's defeated when it's tube-like mouth gets chopped off by Ultraman Taro.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: An ordinary cicada that grew to a gigantic size, but is otherwise content to live its life the same way a normal-sized cicada does.
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire, as well as webbing.
* CicadianRhythm: The same as a normal cicada, except at kaiju-sized. So while the creature is completely harmless, its buzzing was even more annoying for the people of Tokyo.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: The entire episode is a commentary on humanity's tendency to destroying nature for being a minor annoyance. It's doing nothing wrong but humanity attacks it because it's making loud noises.
* GiantFlyer: Since normal cicadas can fly as well.
* MeaningfulName: "Zemi" is Japanese for "cicada", making it the king of cicadas.
* NonMaliciousMonster: King Zemira is simply just an oversized insect in terms of behaviour and motives, only attacking Tokyo when ZAT attacks it (even then the team only attacked the creature because locals demanded they do something after getting annoyed by its droning). [[spoiler:For this reason, Ultraman Taro spares the monster's life and brings it to space to find a new planet for the creature to live on.]]

!!Pandora
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pandora_i.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Wrath of the Child-Carrying Monster
A peaceful kangaroo-like monster that hails from a subterranean world and came to the surface in search of food. The creature was content to be left alone eating trees, but ended up going on a rampage due to its joey Chinpe being targeted by a human hunter.
----
* BeneathTheEarth: It's stated Pandora came from some kind of underground environment (although its exact nature is never expanded on), but made its way to the surface in its quest for food.
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire as well as toxic gas.
* GentleGiant: Pandora is content to be left alone and eat trees as long as humans don't try to harm Chinpe.
* MamaBear: The reason why Pandora has to battle Ultraman Taro is that the monsters goes berserk after Chinpe is wounded by a hunter.
* MonsterIsAMommy: Of Chinpe, of course, whose injuries at the hands of a human were the reason for its rampaging.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Helps a human who fell down a cliffside to recover, this ultimately leads to a party searching for her, to shoot at it and nearly kill its kid.
* TailSlap: Likes to use this in the battle against Ultraman Taro.

!!Chinpe
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chinpe_teddy_bear_gone_bad.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Wrath of the Child Carrying Monster
Pandora's human-sized joey, which normally spends its time in its mother's pouch, but decided to explore its surroundings while Pandora was busy. The friendly creature who was targeted by an arrogant hunter but befriended by both Kotaro and the hunter's girlfriend (who opposed his love of killing animals).
----
* GiganticAdultsTinyBabies: Chinpe is about the size of a human, whereas its mother stands over 50 meters tall. However in real life, kangaroo joeys start their lives extremely small, at the size of a jellybean. For comparison, the largest kangaroo species, the Red Kangaroo, stands nearly the size of a man.

!!Rodera
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rodera_i.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Gentle Daddy Monster
A strange monster able to spew a unique form of acid that only dissolves steel from its trunk-like nose. Rodera's unusual ability made it of interest to a greedy but foolish wife who wanted to use the monster's powers to make a profit off disposing abandoned cars.
----
* AcidAttack: A variant. Rodera is able to shoot out an acid from its nose that eats through steel in seconds, but is otherwise harmless. It can also create a tornado of the stuff for extra destruction.
* DetachmentCombat: Can split off into multiple pieces and fly around
* EyeScream: Get's a pointed bamboo pole shoved into it's eye by Kotaro.
* {{Gonk}}: Another ''Ultraman Taro'' critter noted by many for being incredibly ugly due to its extremely cartoonish design. One reviewer described it as a mix of [[Franchise/{{Godzilla}} Gigan]] and a garden pail.
* HandBlast: Can fire a powerful stream of energy from both its hands.
* MoneySpider: A non-video game example; after Taro blows up Rodera, it then drops hundreds and hundreds of toy cars all over the city's streets, much to the delight of children everywhere.
* OurMonstersAreWeird: Another incredibly goofy-looking ''Ultraman Taro'' critter, with big ears, a big nose, eyestalks, fins on its back, and cone-like projections on its torso.
* PullingThemselvesTogether: As Ultraman Taro finds out, Rodera is able to reform if its body is chopped into pieces.
* ShockAndAwe: Able to grab enemies to electrocute them.
* TunnelKing: Burrowed about underneath a highway, using its steel-dissolving tornado to wreak havoc unseen.

!!Mururoa
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mururoa.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': This is the Land of Ultra!
A monster from outer space whose presence on a planet clouds the world in black, light-destroying smoke. Released by accident from an asteroid by an Earth missile, Mururoa's deadly powers forced Ultraman Taro to head for the Land of Light to retrieve the legendary Ultra Bell to counter its abilities.
----
* AllegoricalCharacter: With a name derived from a nuclear test site and its light-destroying Atomic Fog covering the world in darkness, Mururoa is likely intended to personify the effects of a nuclear winter.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Despite Mururoa's design being among the silliest in a series full of ridiculous-looking kaiju, the monster was treated as an ender of worlds, and certainly lived up to it as it could cloak entire planets in a darkness so great that Ultraman Taro had to retrieve the Ultra Bell, one of the most powerful artifacts in the Land of Light, to dispel the stuff.
* BreathWeapon: Breathes acid.
* CastingAShadow: Mururoa hates light and destroys it by producing tons of smoke to blot out the Sun.
* MacabreMothMotif: Its design motif is based on moths.
* MeaningfulName: Named after Moruroa, an atoll in French Polynesia which was the site for French nuclear testing, referencing how it was set free by a space missile being tested by ZAT.
* SealedEvilInACan: Had been imprisoned inside an asteroid for untold millennia until a space missile being tested by ZAT blew up the prison, setting Mururoa free.
* WeakenedByTheLight: It hates light and produces its Atomic Fog to counter this.

----
* {{Herald}}: Of Mururoa They actually lead the monster to planets for light to snuff out, as they're attracted to the very thing Mururoa seeks to destroy.
* MothMenace: These are giant alien moths whose appearance heralds the arrival of a monster that destroys all light on any planet it arrives on.

----
* CanineCompanion: The Ultra equivalent of one for Taro.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: He's never really ever been seen again after his brief greeting of Ultraman Taro when the hero arrives at the Land of Light. [[spoiler:A manga reveals that Alien Temperor killed him during the events of his two-parter.]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Burn On! The Six Ultra Brothers!
A being mentioned in a flashback exposition on the history of the Land of Light. He appears only as a shadowy figure encircled in a red sphere behind an army of kaiju, which he used to invade M78 long ago. He'll become more important in [[Series/UltramanMebius a future series]]...

* ChekhovsGunman: Who would have ever guessed back in 1973 that a character introduced solely for the purpose of fleshing out the Land of Light would go on to become one of the franchise's biggest {{Big Bad}}s?
* HeWhoMustNotBeSeen: Only appears as [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/empera_cameo.jpg a silhouette behind his kaiju army]], and would remain as such for the next 30-something years.

!!Mukadender
[[quoteright:275:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mukadender_i.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': I Can Conquer a Monster Too!
A bizarre centipede-like monster that suddenly appeared to terrorize Japan during a village's summer festival, intent on finding humans to consume. Although not one of Taro's most famous foes, Mukadender has reappeared a couple more times in the ''Franchise/UltraSeries'', notably ''Series/UltramanMebius''.
----
* AchillesHeel: Its head feels whatever its body experiences and vice versa, meaning hurting the head will hurt the body. In a more bizarre manner, throwing the head into the air will cause the body to fly too, [[spoiler:which is exactly how Taro defeats Mukadender!]]
* BreathWeapon: Two actually -- a stream of fire and a spray of immobilizing webbing.
* CreepyCentipedes: A little difficult to tell at first due to its reptilian appearance, but its BossSubtitles is "Centipede Monster".
* LosingYourHead: Its primary trait. Whenever Mukadender's head is torn off its body, both parts remain animate and can act on their own will.
* MeaningfulName: "Mukade" is Japanese for "centipede".
* OurMonstersAreWeird: More than one person has pointed out the Freudian placement of Mukadender's head, although its more intended to invoke the monster's tail and head having switched places.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Mukadender or Mukadendar?
* ToServeMan: Likes to eat humans, particularly in ''Series/UltramanMebius''.

-->'''First Appearance''': He's Back! It's Alien Mefilas!
A plant monster used by Alien Mefilas II in a scheme to terrorize the people of Japan by hiding the deadly floral creature inside a soda vending machine, using its stinging vines to attack anyone who tried to use it and fill them with a deadly paralytic poison.
----
* FoulFlower: Alien Mefilas II brought in this monster to attack humans.
* HealingFactor: Able to regenerate its vines if they're torn off. It can also produce a chemical which is an antidote to its own poison, and also has regenerative properties if applied to injuries.
* PoisonousPerson: The vines of the Mandarin Flower are covered in stingers that inject a paralyzing poison into those that it attacks.

-->'''First Appearance''': He's Back! It's Alien Mefilas!
-->'''Voiced by:''' Ikuo Nishikawa
The first of a handful of monsters and aliens from previous series brought back in an attempt to alleviate sagging ratings. This second Alien Mefilas commanded the monster Mandarin Flower from hiding to attack unsuspecting people before eventually deciding to step out and battle ZAT and Ultraman Taro himself.
----
See Characters/UltramanTVSeries

* ArtEvolution: The Mefilas in this series is taller and skinnier than normal, with pink rims around his eyes, a different-shaped "mouth", and a golden belly. Justified by the fact that he's a different individual from the original Alien Mefilas.
* CurbStompBattle: Was on the ''receiving'' end of one, dished out by Taro. His attacks barely have any impact on the Ultra, and he gets taken down in less than 40 seconds!
* EyeBeams: An ability not seen in any other version of Alien Mefilas since.
* EyeScream: Prior to fighting Taro, he gets one of his eyes shot out by ZAT, forcing him to use the Mandarin Grass's healing properties to repair the damage.
* LongLostRelative: Some children's magazines claim that this Mefilas is the brother of the one from ''Series/{{Ultraman}}''.
* TorsoWithAView: Taro punches a hole straight through his gut in the fight.
* TheUnfettered: Doesn't believe in fair play at all.
--> ''"There is no difference in being despicable or honorable!"''
* VillainDecay: Alien Mefilas loses a lot of his menace and cunning from his original appearance, becoming a run-of-the-mill invader who relies on a plan revolving around a giant flower that eats people by hiding in a vending machine. He proceeds to get curbstomped by Taro after Mandarin Flower is destroyed.

!!Eleking

[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reeleking.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Monster Eleking Howls at the Moon
The second classic monster brought back in this series. This is the original Eleking mysteriously resurrected by some unknown power, recreating it as a fire-breathing monster that awakens every night to rampage before returning underground at daybreak to sleep.
----
See Characters/UltraSeven

* AimForTheHorn: Much like the original, this Eleking had both it's horns pulled off by Taro in battle, causing it to become unstable before exploding. This time Taro took the horns away from earth to prevent Eleking's resurrection.
* ArtEvolution: Eleking is now a dark yellow with a thicker tail and a darker mouth. His antennae no longer rotate either.
* BackFromTheDead: It's not exactly clear in the show exactly how Eleking came back to life, but a children's magazine from the period states that a malevolent alien was behind the resurrection.
* ContinuityNod: Eleking was revived in the exact same village it was killed by Ultraseven, 6 years ago.
* {{Lunacy}}: For this instance only, Eleking's resurrection powers are caused by absorbing light from a full moon.
* PlayingWithFire: For some reason, this version of Eleking can shoot fire from its mouth and tail instead of the usual electric powers. Somewhat justified by the fact that Eleking's role was originally intended for a mammoth-based kaiju called Gokiba, who was replaced at the last minute because it was decided Eleking would bring in better ratings.

!!Yapool

-->'''First Appearance''': Bemstar Resurrected! Taro's Absolute Sacrifice!
-->'''Voiced by:''' Hirofumi Takada
The next veteran Ultra monster brought back to save the show's ratings is none other than the BigBad of ''Series/UltramanAce'', who has returned piloting a spacecraft for revenge against the Ultras by resurrecting the classic kaiju Bemstar as a Choju to defeat Ultraman Taro and ZAT, plus two of his own creations, Velokron and Sabotendar. This appearance notably made concrete Yapool's nature as being able to eternally resurrect himself due to the grudge he holds over the Ultras, a trait which has been retained throughout his subsequent appearances.
----
See Characters/UltramanAce

* ArtEvolution: More accurately, "Art Devolution". Yapool has a shabbier appearance in this series as the producers recycled the "Giant Yapool" suit from ''Ultraman Ace'', which had deteriorated quite a bit since its first appearance.
* VillainDecay: Yapool's completely reduced to sitting in a spaceship and using a staff to call forth old creations of his before eventually getting destroyed along with his monsters.

!!Bemstar

[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/remodeled_bemstar.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Bemstar Resurrected! Taro's Absolute Sacrifice!
Yet another classic Ultra kaiju brought back the producers to attract more viewers. This is the original Bemstar from ''Series/ReturnOfUltraman'' resurrected by Yapool in a new and improved Choju form, proving itself to be an even deadlier foe than in its original appearance.
----
See Characters/ReturnOfUltraman

* AlienBlood: Bemstar bleeds yellow blood, as seen when Umino manage to land a few stabs into its ''eye''.
* ArtEvolution: Due to the fact that the original Bemstar suit had been recently modified into Astromons before being turned back into the new Bemstar, this version of Bemstar lacks a beak and has small red eyes.
* BackFromTheDead: This is the original Bemstar battled by [[Series/ReturnOfUltraman Ultraman Jack]], now resurrected by Yapool and modified into a Choju.
* ColossusClimb: In the second battle, Umino managed to cling himself onto Bemstar using a rope attached on the monster's horn, and from his vantage point, repeatedly stab Bemstar in the eye.
* EyeBeams: This version of Bemstar possesses these powers.
* EyeScream: Umino, a friend of Kotaro manages to jab the monster's eye out when he manages to climb onto its face.
* ItOnlyWorksOnce: When Bemstar first appears on Earth, ZAT tries to attack it with a giant circular saw that's supposed to have the same cutting power as Ultraman Jack's Ultra Bracelet, which originally cut Bemstar to pieces. When they finally connect, though, the saw just gets mangled, and Yapool mocks ZAT for thinking that he wouldn't learn from its previous defeat.
* PoisonousPerson: Bemstar can now spew toxic gas from its BellyMouth as well.

!!Sabotendar

-->'''First Appearance''': Counterattack! The Monster Army!
One of two Choju to be brought back in this series. This version of the cactus monster is in fact the original Sabotendar resurrected by Yapool to assist Bemstar for the final showdown against Ultraman Taro. However, it was quickly defeated by the horned hero.
----
See Characters/UltramanAce

* ArtEvolution: Sabotendar's costume is not the same as the one used in ''Series/UltramanAce'', so the suit has a less detailed appearance, longer spikes, as well as being a brighter shade of green.
* ButtMonkey: Solely appears to get his butt whooped by Ultraman Taro.

!!Velokron

-->'''First Appearance''': Counterattack! The Monster Army!
The second of two Choju from [[Series/UltramanTaro the previous series]] brought back for this one. This is the second Velokron brought back to life by Yapool to assist Bemstar alongside Sabotendar. However, the monster was swiftly dispatched by ZAT's firepower.
----
See Characters/UltramanAce

* ArtEvolution: This is the only instance in which Velokron's second design was used over its original one, but even then there are a few differences from the one that appeared in ''Series/UltramanAce'', notably that Velokron is a greener colour.
* ButtMonkey: Despite being lauded as reinforcements by Yapool, Velokron is easily destroyed by ZAT's aircraft.

!!Mushra
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mushura.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Danger Lying! Poisonous Mushrooms
-->'''Voiced by''': Ikuo Nishikawa
A monster that first appeared in the form of a gigantic toadstool, but was quickly destroyed by ZAT. However, a piece survived and tricked a boy with a "plant-language translator" named Daisuke into bringing it to a water source that it infected to turn all of Tokyo into mushroom-headed zombies.
----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes acid.
* FesteringFungus: Mushra infects water, so that anyone who drinks it turns into a MushroomMan that it can control.
* FromASingleCell: Mushra's default giant mushroom form attacks the city right at the start of the episode and is killed almost instantly by Ultraman Taro. But a single spore escaped and gains a life of it's own.
* FungusHumongous: Mushra is essentially meant to be a kaiju-sized spoof of the Film/{{Matango}}.
* KillItWithFire: [[spoiler:Ultraman Taro defeats Mushra by setting the monster on fire, causing it to lose the water it needs to sustain itself.]]
* MetamorphosisMonster: It initially appears in the middle of the city as a gigantic mushroom that ZAT destroys quickly, but a piece of it survives to trick a kid into taking it to a water supply to regenerate into its complete form.
* PoisonousPerson: Mushra's toadstool head leaks out a potent green venom capable of destroying buildings.
* TheVirus: Mushra spreads a contagion through water that turns others into mushroom people, turning all of Tokyo into an ''Ultraman Taro''-styled ''Matango''. This can be reversed by destroying Mushra.

!!Guron
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/guron_2.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': A Nipping Wind Monster! Matsuboroh of the Wind!
A strange windbag monster that creates great gusts of wind by simply just breathing in and out. It attracted the interest of an oddball boy named Don Matsuboroh, who is implied to be connected to the creature in some way, given the fact that he is more fond of Guron than he is of Taro.
----
* BlowYouAway: By breathing in and out, Guron creates gusts of wind that can reach hurricane levels if it inhales a sufficient amount.
* CastingAShadow: Can turn itself into a shadow to avoid detection.
* {{Cyclops}}: Have a single red eye, which is its sole facial feature besides its mouth.
* InflatingBodyGag: Courtesy of Ultraman Taro plugging Guron's mouth with the King Bracelet, which made its body inflate as it floats comically into the air.
* LivingGasbag: It's main inspiration.
* {{Oculothorax}}: A kaiju version.
* OurMonstersAreWeird: It's a giant one-eyed windbag kaiju!
* RedHerring: [[spoiler:It ultimately turns out that Don Matsuboroh has no unusual relationship with Guron. He's just a weird kid and nothing more.]]

!!Alien Temperor
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alien_temperor_old.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Five Seconds to the Big Explosion of the Land of Ultra!
-->'''Voiced by:''' Eiji Maruyama
One of a race of wicked aliens who had waged war with the Ultramen centuries ago, Alien Temperor came to Earth with his subordinate, another member of his kind, to destroy the Ultra heroes by fighting and harassing the six Ultra Brothers in their human forms and out of them while his spaceship resurrected him whenever necessary.

As his appearance marks the first time all the main Ultra hosts are seen onscreen together, Alien Temperor has become one of Ultraman Taro's best-known foes. For this reason, he has reappeared numerous times in the ''Franchise/UltraSeries''. As he's also the closest opponent in the series to a main antagonist, Temperor's race also has more appearances than almost any other alien introduced in ''Ultraman Taro'', significantly overshadowing Alien Valky, the actual final opponent in the series. Temperor also received a redesign to go with his kind's reappearances, giving the alien a more sinister appearance.
----
* AgonyBeam: One of Temperor's many attacks fired from his pincers is an orange energy beam designed to torture victims.
* ArcVillain: Of episodes 33 and 34.
* BadassCape: It's strong enough to act as a shield, and in ''Series/UltramanMebius'', it can transform into a pair of wings.
* BlindedByTheLight: Can fire explosive flashes of blinding light from his pincers.
* BreakoutVillain: Temperor has appeared very frequently since his return in ''Series/UltramanMebius'' (where he received his visual update), due to being among Ultraman Taro's most iconic foes.
* DeathIsCheap: The main reason why he put up such a challenge for the Ultra Brothers was that every time they killed him, his spaceship would fly in and resurrect him!
* EatMe: Taro kills his subordinate by flying into his mouth and making him explode from the inside out.
* InsectoidAliens: Designed to look like Alien Baltan of ''Series/{{Ultraman}}'' fame.
* LightningLash: Alien Temperor can generate electrified whips using it's pincers, which he uses to great effect lashing out at the Ultra Brothers. This ability is one of Temperor's trademark abilities, which is carried over in his subsequent appearances in movies and video games.
* NameToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Temperor's name is a combination of "tyrant" and "emperor", as he was originally intended to be the alien who would eventually be developed into Alien Empera, BigBad of ''Series/UltramanMebius'', 36 years later.
* PlayingWithFire: Can shoot fire from his pincers.
* PoisonousPerson: Temperor can spray toxic gas from his antennae tubes.
* PowerPincers: Temperor's pincers can create a huge variety of attacks from standard energy bolts to blinding flashes to streams of fire to electric whips. Appropriately, they're called Omni Pincers.
* ShockAndAwe: Can shoot lightning from his pincers.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Temperor or Tempeler?
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: During the two-parter, he turns himself into a spider to torment Kotaro.

!!Alien Katan

-->'''First Appearance''': Certain Kill! Taro's One Blow of Rage!
-->'''Voiced by:''' Ikuo Nishikawa
An evil alien who blinded Ultraman Taro during his first battle with the horned hero. He used the subsequent opportunity to try and assassinate the hospitalized Kotaro by taking over the body of a young Ultraman-loving girl named Machiko, so that nobody would suspect a thing.
----
* DemonicPossession: As part of his scheme to incapacitate Ultraman Taro and Kotaro, Katan takes over the body of a young girl named Machiko so that no one will ever suspect him.
* EyeBeams: He uses these to blind Ultraman Taro, but otherwise they're incapable of doing any other damage.
* PlayingWithFire: Can shoot streams of fire from his palms.
* WouldHurtAChild: In order to take over Machiko's body, Katan ''crashes a car into her''.

[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grost_ii.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': "Coward!", The Bride Cried
An icy alien who made himself known only a handful of hours after Ultraman Taro had defeated Alien Katan, meaning Kotaro was still blinded from the earlier events. He had taken over a construction site and enslaved the workers there with his mind control powers in order to organize his invasion scheme in secret.
----
* AchillesHeel: Obviously, Grost is weak to extreme heat, which also nullifies his mind control powers.
* BreathWeapon: Breathes freezing mist.
* HiddenInPlainSight: Grost's disguise is a wall ornament, one that is somewhat unusual-looking. Kohtaro didn't even realize he's in the same room as Grost until the alien reveals himself.
* AnIcePerson: As his frosty appearance and name indicate, Grost hails from a freezing planet and possesses a number of ice-based powers.
* MindControl: As part of his scheme to conquer Earth, Grost hides out in a building still being constructed and mind controls the workers as his slaves. Unfortunately, one of the workers' girlfriend had a younger brother who caught on to what was going on.

----
* BreathWeapon: Officially, Hertz is stated to be able to breathe fire, [[InformedAbility but he never demonstrates this in the show]].
* GentleGiant: Hertz really doesn't cause any problems when he arrives on Earth and only seems to wander about the countryside minding his own business. Unfortunately, Alien Medusa is trying to goad ZAT into killing the monster.

-->'''First Appearance''': Monster, Return to Your Homeland!
-->'''Voiced by:''' Ikuo Nishikawa
A hideous and wicked alien who comes to Earth in pursuit of Hertz. Rather than carrying out the act of killing the peaceful creature by herself, she tries to goad ZAT into killing the gentle monster through various schemes, most notably disguising herself as a woman and claiming the creature killed her grandfather.
----
* DemonicPossession: Takes over the body of Moriyama in order to try kill Hertz by using ZAT's vehicles and weaponry.
* DirtyCoward: She doesn't have the guts to carry out killing Hertz or fighting ZAT, instead relying on deceit and sabotage until she is finally forced to fight Ultraman Taro.
* HateSink: A ruthless, manipulative alien who is also a compulsive liar, claiming that the harmless Hertz is a vicious monster who killed her grandfather. Despite being a monster of some great power, Medusa is mostly a coward, relying on taking over ZAT's equipment rather than risk exposing herself to danger.
* ManipulativeBitch: Medusa does anything she can to have ZAT kill Hertz, including taking on the form of a young woman named Megumi and accusing the monster of killing her grandfather when it arrived on Earth (while there was an old man in a state of unconsciousness, Medusa had just knocked him out to justify her accusations).
* MeaningfulName: While Medusa doesn't look anything like the Gorgons of Greek myth, it's meant to be indicative of her hideousness (her BossSubtitles is "Ugly Alien").

Unfortunately, the malicious Alien Terrorist murders him not long afterwards.
----
* BirdPeople: His design motif is an owl.
* CrystalBall: His gift to Hitomi, which allows those who look into it to see the past and present, as well as their deepest desires. It's also through the same globe does Hitomi see Miracle get killed by Terrorist.

----
* FangsAreEvil: A ruthless and cruel invader with two massive fangs from his jaw.
* HandBlast: Able to shoot organic missiles from his fingertips.
* KickTheDog: His killing of Miracle, which is only seen his crystal ball though. Even crueler for poor little Hitomi, who becomes determined to avenge Miracle's death against the invader, even when Terrorist turns giant-sized.
* MasterSwordsman: His weapon of choice is a giant sword, and he's pretty good with it.

----
* BigEater: Of mochi, of course! So much that he threatened to consume Japan's mochi supply in a matter of days.
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: For eating all the mochi in Japan and causing a lot of havoc in the process, Mochiron's fate [[spoiler:is to help Taro, the Father of Ultra, and Yuko make mochi for the people of Japan by being used as a mortar.]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Go Beyond the Ultra Brothers!
A chimera formed from the vengeful spirits of [[Series/{{Ultraman}} Red King,]] [[Series/UltraSeven Alien Icarus,]] [[Series/ReturnOfUltraman Bemstar, Seagorath,]] [[Series/UltramanAce Barabas, Hanzagiran, and King Crab]] merging themselves together to destroy the Ultra Brothers. Tyrant made a beeline for Earth to battle Taro while defeating each of the Ultra Brothers one by one.

One of the most popular kaiju in the ''Franchise/UltraSeries'' for his formidable power and striking hybrid design, Tyrant has made many reappearances in the franchise as among the Ultra heroes' most powerful and dangerous of their regular MonsterOfTheWeek foes, befitting of the fearsome reputation he had in his debut.
----
* AchillesHeel: [[spoiler:His own weapons are strong enough to harm him, as demonstrated by Taro.]]
* AllYourPowersCombined: As you'll quickly see from the list of tropes for this guy, almost all of his abilities are borrowed from the monsters his parts are formed from.
* BellyMouth: Borrowed from Bemstar, but with a few new powers added.
* BreakoutVillain: Tyrant became one of the most popular and iconic of Ultraman Taro's foes very quickly, thanks to its incredible strength and power, thus reappearing against many subsequent Ultra heroes.
* BreathWeapon: A stream of fire, taken from King Crab.
* EnergyAbsorption: Like Bemstar, Tyrant can consume energy attacks launched at it through its BellyMouth.
* EpicFlail: Taken from Barabas' left hand.
* GrapplingHookGun: In its Barabas flail, an ability of the Choju it was taken from.
* HeroKiller: He manages to defeat the entire Ultra Brothers up to that point before facing Taro.
* HybridMonster: Perhaps the most famous one in the ''Ultra Series''. Tyrant has the head of Seagorath, ears of Alien Icarus, belly of Bemstar, arms of Barabas, back of Hanzagrian, legs of Red King, and tail of King Crab.
* AnIcePerson: Can shoot freezing gas from its Bemstar gorge.
* TheJuggernaut: Defeated a total of '''five''' Ultramen without breaking a sweat, and was shown surviving a direct Metallium Ray from Ultraman Ace. [[spoiler:It takes his own weapon being thrown against him to put him down.]]
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Even his BossSubtitles is "Tyrant Monster"!
* PointyEars: Taken from Alien Icarus, and like Icarus, they can fire a hailstorm of energy needles.
* PoisonousPerson: Sprays toxic gas from its Bemstar gorge.
* SpikesOfDoom: Borrowed from Hanzagrian.
* SuperStrength: As expected from a kaiju whose composition includes Red King with five other formidable kaiju and one alien, Tyrant's physical strength is immense.
* TailSlap: Borrowed from King Crab.
* TheWorfEffect: Defeats Zoffy, Ultraman, Ultraseven, Jack, and Ace with complete ease, and [[spoiler:yet is defeated by Taro just as quickly, though by [[UseTheirOwnWeaponAgainstThem throwing Tyrant's own weapon against him.]]]]

!!Gongoros
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gongoros_fire_exhale.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Mother's Wish - A Mid-Winter Cherry Blossom Blizzard
An extraterrestrial entity made of pure energy that originates from the Triones M81 Galaxy. It inhabited a graffiti drawing of a saurian monster painted on the wall of a snooty rich lady's house by a mischievous but artistic boy named Masahiro, bringing the drawing to super-sized life.
----
* ArtInitiatesLife: Gongoros is a mural painting of a kaiju brought to life by an extraterrestrial energy being. [[spoiler:Ultraman Taro even defeats the monster by literally erasing it!]]
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* CorruptedCharacterCopy: Gongoros shares several elements with Gavadon from ''Series/{{Ultraman}}'', being a child's artwork brought to life by cosmic rays. But unlike Gavadon who's a neutral monster, Gongoros is hostile and sets out to destroy the city.
* EnergyBeing: Gongoros' true form is an entity of dark energy that is able to inhabit two-dimensional spaces and make them three-dimensional.
* {{Gasshole}}: Gongoros farts in Taro's face and at ZAT's planes during its rampage!
* LivingDrawing: In its painting form, Gongoros visibly blinks after a lady tries erasing it, giving her a shock.

!!Elegia
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elegia_2.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': The Phantom Mother is a Monster User!
Originally the deceased pet parrot of a woman killed in a vehicle accident named Seiko Shimada, Elegia was resurrected as a kaiju when an android replica of Seiko (complete with her memories) built by her inventor widower Shingo sought vengeance against motorists for the original Seiko's death.
----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* {{Expy}}: Elegia is pretty much Hydra from the original ''Series/{{Ultraman}}'' as a parrot. Right down to hatred of motorists and the ability to breathe fire.
* GiantFlyer: A parrot kaiju.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: Specifically, a lady's dead parrot resurrected by her android replacement as a kaiju to avenge her death.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Sought to kill all drivers in Japan as retribution for Seiko's death under the command of the lady's robot double. Even in a show full of bizarre storylines, Elegia's was definitely one of the weirder ones.

!!Mottokureron
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/motokureron.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Pickle the Monster with Salt
A small but gluttonous monster from outer space that came to Earth in search of food. It was raised in secret as a pet by the vegetable-abhorring son of a grocer (who chose to feed the monster his vegetables instead of eating them himself), but soon grew too big to be taken care of properly.
----
* BigEater: Mottokureron loves to eat. Its BossSubtitles is even "Gluttonous Monster".
* BreathWeapon: Breathes a green slime that is less dangerous, more disgusting.
* {{Gasshole}}: Like Gongoros and Kemujira, Mottokureron farts in Ultraman Taro's face during the fight!
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: Grows from the size of a cat to the size of a kaiju in a matter of days due to being constantly fed thrown-away vegetables. [[spoiler:Fortunately, Ultraman Taro is able to reduce the monster to the size of a human by squeezing all of the monster's green slime out of it.]]
* MeaningfulName: From "motto kurero", meaning "give me more", befitting its gluttonous nature.
* NonMaliciousMonster: If anything, Mottokureron is just hungry. It has no motives beyond finding food to eat, but when it gets too big to be sensibly sustained, it starts causing trouble.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Mottokureron or Motokureron?
* VerbalTicName: Takeshi, the boy who raised Mottokureron, gave it the name because its cry while it was being fed sounded like it was saying "motto, motto", or "[[BigEater more, more]]".

!!Alien Kisaragi Onibanba
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/onibanandba.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Oh, Taro is Being Eaten!
-->'''Voiced by:''' Hiro Kasai (also human form actor)
An {{Oni}}-like alien who despises [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseHolidays the Setsubun holiday]]. She used the opportunity to ruin the holiday by trapping Kotaro, Kenichi, and a friend of theirs named Ichiro in an ordinary bean to be eaten by Ichiro's brother Jiro.
----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire in both human-sized and kaiju-sized forms.
* CarryABigStick: Like a classic oni, she wields an iron club called a kanabou.
* MeaningfulName: Onibanba is named after the Onibaba, a well-known hag-like ogress in Japanese folklore.
* {{Oni}}: Or rather an alien that looks like one. Nevertheless, she hates Setsubun because of the holiday's customs being meant to drive away evil spirits like Oni.
* ShrinkRay: Uses one on Kotaro and Kenichi, trapping them inside a bean and putting said bean into a bowl of snacks to be eaten!
* VillainExitStageLeft: [[spoiler:After Taro simply tosses some Setsubun beans around Tokyo during their battle, Onibanba is forced to flee. Taro does get to clobber her with her kanabou as she leaves though.]]
* WeaksauceWeakness: Setsubun beans having the same repulsing effect on her as they supposedly do on actual evil spirits.

!!Memole
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/memole_i.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': She was Wearing Red Shoes...
-->'''Played by''': Kei Natsukawa
A monster that was originally a childhood friend of Kitajima named Mari. Many years ago, Mari was abducted by Alien Dorzu and given a serum that would transform into a kaiju when she returned to Earth as an adult to visit Kitakjima at ZAT's base and subsequently try to destroy it.
----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* PrehensileTail: Memole uses her tail to good effect against Ultraman Taro, including strangling him with it.
* SmokeOut: Able to fire a toxic red smokescreen from her right hand that allows her to teleport.
* TragicMonster: Kitajima ''begs'' Ultraman Taro not to kill Memole due to how much Mari means to him. [[spoiler:Ultraman Taro complies and takes her somewhere into space to live the rest of her life in peace.]]
* WasOnceAMan: Specifically a young girl who was abducted by aliens and experimented on so that she would transform into a kaiju as an adult. The red shoes are all that remain of her.

!!Alien Dorzu
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dorzu_2.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': She was Wearing Red Shoes...
The evil alien who had kidnapped Mari long ago when she and Kitajima were playing as children. His sinister scheme was to transform the girl into the kaiju Memole when she became an adult and then command the creature to destroy ZAT for an easy conquest of Earth.
----
* InvasionOfTheBabySnatchers: He kidnaps children while they're out alone and then subjects them to horrible experiments and transformative substances to turn them into giant monsters.
* ManipulativeBastard: Intended to use Kitajima's feelings for Mari to make ZAT reluctant to attack Memole, leaving them completely hopeless against the woman-turned-kaiju.
* MyBrainIsBig: Look at his cranium in the picture above.
* VillainExitStageLeft: Dorzu sorta [[spoiler:vanishes after Taro defeats Memole, and is last seen leaving Earth after the plan is foiled.]]

!!Piccolo
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/piccolo_w_hammer.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': The White Rabbit is a Bad Guy!
-->'''Voiced by:''' Naoko Kyoda
A playful Pinocchio-like alien prince from the the Piccola Nebula who came to Earth for some lighthearted mischief (namely messing around with a boy's pet rabbit). However, he decides to destroy humanity out of disgust after seeing the boy's cruel landlord poison said rabbit for breaking his "no pets" rule.
----
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He acts pretty silly and goofy when we first meet him and the worst he does is simply frustrate some people from afar by teleporting a pet rabbit. However, he goes ''berserk'' when he sees said rabbit poisoned by the owner's landlord and decides to kill all the entire human race for it. He also gives Ultraman Taro a fair amount of challenge in the battle.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: He eventually realises that fighting Taro will get him nowhere, and ends up requesting the Ultra's help in returning to his home.
* NasalWeapon: His Pinocchio-like nose can act as a cannon.
* TheReveal: Piccolo carries a scope with him that allows him to see the true identity of others, and discovers that Kotaro is Taro's host. He tries to use this against him when he begins wrecking the city, revealing the truth behind Kotaro's nature to ZAT...
** TheUnreveal: However, the team doesn't give it any mind.
* WeaponizedHeadgear: His hat, which can be thrown, turning it into an energy buzzsaw!
* WeaponizedTeleportation: He can teleport other beings wherever he chooses, although he only uses this ability to make mischief with a pet rabbit.

!![[Series/{{Mirrorman}} Gorgosaurus]]
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gorgo_alpha.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': The Monster Master
A monster from the 1971 Creator/TsuburayaProductions superhero series ''Series/{{Mirrorman}}'' who appears very briefly to battle Ultraman Taro while he is out on a trip through space. He successfully injures the hero, incapacitating him for the remainder of the episode.
----
* CanonImmigrant: Gorgosaurus is not the only monster from ''Series/{{Mirrorman}}'' to appear in the ''Franchise/UltraSeries'' (the other being Dustpan in the notorious Thai co-production ''Film/HanumanVs7Ultraman''). The creature is actually described in the show as hailing from another universe!
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: [[spoiler:Gorgosaurus tries to escape after the battle goes south by teleporting away, but Taro blows up his upper body mid-teleportation, leaving his lower half lifelessly falling down.]]
* {{Invisibility}}: The only ability shown by Gorgosaurus in this appearance, which is weird because the ''Series/{{Mirrorman}}'' version never had that power, only a fiery BreathWeapon.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: The creature solely appears to injure Kotaro for the episode, and is dispatched quite quickly once that bit is dealt with. If anything, the monster was pretty much picked to appear solely because the suit was conveniently available.

!!Gelan
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gelan_i.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': The Monster Master
A monster that suddenly appeared from underneath Kenichi's school to make a nest for its eggs and hatchlings. However, for much of the episode, Gelan's body is trapped directly under the school, so only its head and tail are exposed, but that doesn't make the creature any less ferocious in defense of its young.
----
* AgonyOfTheFeet: While on a mindless rampage, Gelan is unfortunate enough to step on a katana left behind by the kendo club, whose pointy side is facing upwards. It notably shrieks in pain after that.
* BackpackCannon: Able to shoot a steady stream of energy blasts from its back.
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* {{Cyclops}}: Has a only single red eye.
* MonsterIsAMommy: Gelan's rampaging is mainly due to the fact that it believes the schoolchildren are endangering its children.
* NonMaliciousMonster: Gelan has no destructive intentions towards the school as it simply wanted to protect its young. [[spoiler:For this reason, rather than killing it, Ultraman Taro takes the monster and its babies someplace new to live.]]
* TunnelKing: Gelan had been hiding underneath Kenichi's school for years, suddenly tunneling to the surface for some reason, although with the mother's case, only its head, neck, and tail could be exposed out of the ground at first.

!!Veron
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/veron_0.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Monster Girl's Festival
-->'''Voiced by:''' Takeshi Watabe
A carefree and goofy-natured monster that showed up on [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseHolidays Hinamatsuri (aka Doll Festival or Girl's Day)]]. Veron is an alcoholic kaiju who loves to get drunk on sake and boogie to the pop music of the Space Boys.
----
* TheAlcoholic: Loves sake and is constantly in a drunken state. Only in ''Ultraman Taro'' do you get an alcoholic kaiju!
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* FightingClown: A fight between Ultraman Taro and a drunken kaiju goes about as seriously as one would expect from this show.
* NonMaliciousMonster: Really, the only danger he poses is his drunkenness, and is otherwise totally harmless.
* WaterWakeup: Taro defeats him by waking him up from his drunken rampage, by summoning an Ultra-sized bucket of water from the King Bracelet and splashing its contents on Veron.

!!Alien File Space Boys
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/space_boys.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Monster Girl's Festival
An extraterrestrial boy band of pop musicians who come to Earth in search of Veron, who happens to be their band's mascot. During their search for the drunken kaiju, they befriend a feminine boy named Taro (no connection to the hero) and assist ZAT in subduing the sake-loving monster.
----
* BoyBand: An extraterrestrial boy band whose music is the one of the few things that can keep Veron under control. It ''was'' the 70s after all.

!!Orphy
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orphy_i.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Sing! Big Monster Match!
-->'''Voiced by:''' Eiji Maruyama
A peaceful monster that dwells in Yaijin Valley and wakes up once a year to sing opera music for the nearby villages, supposedly bringing good fortune to those who hear it. ZAT sought to protect the benevolent creature from a gang of human poachers led by the disguised Alien Kaan.
----
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Alien Kaan takes over Orphy's body to drive the monster on a rampage, so Ultraman Taro has to subdue the creature to fish Kaan out and kill him.
* ExposedAnimalBellybutton: Orphy has an exaggerated navel that sticks out quite prominently. It stores a music sheet that the monster uses for singing while Kaan hides in it to take control of the monster.
* GentleGiant: A completely peaceful kaiju that only seeks to treat people to its lovely and baritone singing voice.

!!Alien Kaan
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alienkhan.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Sing! Big Monster Match!
-->'''Voiced by:''' Daisuke Kusano (also human form actor)
A parasite-like alien hunter who comes to Earth in disguise and organizes a gang of human poachers to kill Orphy. However, this was in fact part of a greater scheme by him to parasitize Orphy and mind control the gentle creature into going on a berserk rampage.
----
* EvilPoacher: One of several that appear in this series, but the only one to be an extraterrestrial.
* {{Jerkass}}: He enjoys hunting and killing gentle creatures or making them go berserk to attack innocents.
* MindControl: Does this to Orphy by crawling into the kaiju's navel.
* PuppeteerParasite: His species are kaiju parasites that take control of monsters by entering their bodies and sending them on rampages.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Sometimes called Alien Khan.

!!Garaking
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/garaking.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': The Monster's Sign is V
A monster that suddenly appears one day to devastate its surroundings. However, Garaking also befriends an arrogant but good-natured young lady named Yuki, who works at a daycare for the elderly and shares the monster's love for playing volleyball.
----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* KarmaHoudini: Even though Garaking destroys an airport, blows up several planes, and smashes numerous buildings with no discernible motive, [[spoiler:Ultraman Taro doesn't give it a well-deserved Storium Ray because Yuki (who played a volleyball match with the monster) begged Taro not to kill it!]]
* RollingAttack: Garaking can curl itself up into a ball to destroy its surroundings by simply crashing into them.

!!Rindon
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rindon.jpg]]

-->'''First Appearance''': The Ultra Father and the Bride have Arrived
A monster that suddenly attacked Tokyo while Nanbara's fiance and mother are visiting from Kyushu. Unfortunately for Nanbara, who is planning to get engaged, Rindon puts his fiance in grave danger and throws a serious wrench into his wedding plans.
----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* LosingYourHead: Rindon's defining feature is that its head has a life of its own and will simply reattach itself to its neck if decapitated. In fact, this ability is so great that the creature's BossSubtitles is "Invulnerable Monster", and [[spoiler:the Father of Ultra had to step in to help Taro kill it permanently.]]
* OffWithHisHead: Ultraman Taro does this to him, but quickly finds out that it's not enough.
* TunnelKing: Appears in Tokyo by bursting out of the ground in the middle of the city.

!!Dorobon
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dorobon_i.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Steal the Ultra Life
-->'''Voiced by:''' Takeshi Watabe
An evil alien thief who planned to steal the Colour Timer of an Ultra in order to gain a strength advantage for a war on a distant world. He came to Earth while the middle of battling [[Series/ReturnOfUltraman Ultraman Jack]] in order to steal his Colour Timer while Jack tried to take him to M78's prison.
----
* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.
* CarryABigStick: His weapon of choice is an iron club covered in spikes.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Although Dorobon does get the power boost he desired from Jack's Colour Timer, it soon turns out even he's subject to the Colour Timer's three-minute rule upon wearing it.
* MeaningfulName: From "dorobou", meaning "thief".
* {{Oni}}: Based on them. He even wields a ''kanabo''!
* SuperStrength: Dorobon was able to rip off Jack's Colour Timer with his bare hands. And keep in mind that Colour Timers are surgically grafted onto an Ultra's body! Yeah that's some real strength there.

!!Samekujira
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/samekujira.png]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Farewell Taro! The Ultra Mother
A shark-whale monster awoken by Alien Valky who intended to capture it to achieve glory. Samekujira destroyed many ships (including the one sailed by Kenichi and Saori's father) in its rampage, only to be quickly destroyed by Ultraman Taro, much to Valky's displeasure.
----
* EngineeredHeroics: Alien Valky had released Samekujira to attack ships around the coats of Japan, with the intention of stepping in and "capturing" the monster in order to achieve glory. However, Taro killing Samekujira was not part of the plan.
* InASingleBound: Thanks to the wing-like fins on its sides, Samekujira is capable of leaping great distances.
* MeaningfulName: His name means "Shark-Whale" in Japanese.
* MixAndMatchCritters: As his MeaningfulName suggests.
* SeaMonster: Sorta looks like a giant sawfish, but weirdly it possesses legs.
* ThreateningShark: It's where the "Same-" part of his name comes from, with a sawshark being the specific inspiration.

!!Alien Valky
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alien_valky.png ]]

-->'''First Appearance''': Farewell Taro! The Ultra Mother
-->'''Voiced by:''' Shinya Kashima
The greatest fisherman in the universe, Alien Valky came to Earth in search of glory through catching the legendary Samekujira and conquering Earth by defeating Ultraman Taro. However, he was less than happy when Taro killed the monster fish, and so he switched over to trying to kill Kotaro as revenge for the humiliation.

Notable for being the final opponent of Taro's series yet not of Taro himself, Alien Valky has reappeared many more times in the ''Franchise/UltraSeries'' against various other Ultra heroes. Although usually portrayed as a skilled hunter or fighter seeking to make himself famous in the universe, Alien Valky has appeared in other roles too, like as a major antagonist in ''Series/UltramanGinga''.
----
* BreakoutVillain: Is one of the most iconic opponents of Ultraman Taro, earning him many reappearance since his return in ''Series/UltramanMebius''.
* EgomaniacHunter: His debut in Taro depicts him to be one of these, hunting the space whale kaiju Samekujira.
* EngineeredHeroics: He unleashed Samekujira on Japan so that he could defeat it and attain glory.
* FakeUltimateMook: Even though Valky was the final enemy of the series, [[spoiler:he was killed by humans without any help from Ultraman Taro. This was because Kotaro wanted to make a point to Kenichi that he didn't need the power of Ultraman Taro to defeat enemies.]]
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: His ManOnFire demise is noted to be especially graphic, even for the standards for ''Ultra Series'' back in the 70s, let alone a usually LighterAndSofter show like ''Ultraman Taro''.
* GlorySeeker: In almost all his appearances (most prominently his debut), Valky's goal is to achieve fame throughout the universe.
** GloryHound: Valky isn't above destroying a few cities or having to kill a few Ultra heroes if it's gonna earn him a reputation in the universe. And he's ''pissed'' when Taro kills Samekujira, so he tries to kill Kotaro in retribution.
* KillItWithFire: [[spoiler:Kotaro manages to defeat Valky without turning into Ultraman Taro by tricking him into destroying oil rigs that end up setting the alien on fire and burning him to death.]]
* MeaningfulName: Valky's name is derived from the Japanese pronunciation of "Valkyrie", as the Valkyries of Norse myth took warriors who died in battle to Valhalla and Alien Valky was the final enemy that Ultraman Taro faced [[spoiler:before Kotaro gave up his Ultra Badge to live the rest of his life as a normal person.]]
* PowerCrystal: Has a small red crystal on his head that fires energy bolts.
%%* RedEyesTakeWarning: Big glowing ones.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Also called Valkie.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Introduced in ''Ultraman Story'']]
Although ''Film/UltramanStory'' debuted some ten years after ''Series/UltramanTaro'' ended, Taro remains the focus of the film and several of its new characters go on to appear in subsequent series. Thus they have been placed here for convenience.

!!Juda
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/juda_0.png]]

The film's BigBad. Juda is a malevolent devil-like being originally defeated fifty thousand years ago by the Father of Ultra. He seeks to destroy the Ultras and M78 so that he can then destroy the universe without opposition, To this end, he sends out many old foes of the Ultra Brothers, notably [[Series/UltramanAce Alien Hipporito]] and Enmargo, to destroy them and also unleashes the mighty Grand King to assault Land of Light.

Juda also reappeared in the 1983 spin-off miniseries ''Andro Melos'' as its BigBad once again, this time accompanied by his newly-introduced siblings Mold and Gina. The three have since returned in other ''Ultraman'' shows like ''[[Series/UltramanGinga Ultra Fight Victory]]'' and ''Series/UltramanX'' as recurring secondary villains for the Ultra heroes to face.
----
For tropes pertaining to Juda as a whole, see [[Characters/AndroMelos here]].

* BigBad: Of ''Film/UltramanStory'' and later on ''Andro Melos''.
* BilingualBonus: Has the kanji for "King" on his forehead.
* EnergyBeing: In ''Ultraman Story'' only. This is completely ignored in later appearances.
* EvilLaugh: Has a pretty good one, like any self-respecting villain.
* GalacticConqueror: His current characterization; he seeks to take over the entire universe alongside his siblings Gina and Mold.
* HumanoidAbomination: The Father of Ultra describes him as such, saying that he was born from a distortion in the universe and referring to him as the spawn of the Devil.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Named after Judas, the apostle who infamously betrayed Christ.
* NonActionBigBad: Due to being an EnergyBeing, he really can't fight the Ultras face-to-face. However, this is dropped in later appearances, where as a physical entity, he is now capable of fighting the Ultras and regularly does so.
* OmnicidalManiac: Presented as such in ''Ultraman Story''. He seeks to spread the power of the space distortion he was born from, which would destroy the entire universe in the process. After his siblings were introduced though, he became more of a GalacticConqueror.
* SealedEvilInACan: The Father of Ultra originally imprisoned him by ending the own spatial distortion he came from, but after 50 000 years, the distortion and Juda have returned.
* VillainExitStageLeft: [[spoiler:Flees after Grand King is defeated and is never seen again by the Ultra Brothers. He does finally die in ''Andro Melos'' though.]]

!!Grand King
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grand_king_5.png]]

The ultimate weapon of Juda, Grand King is a monstrous dinosaur-like robot empowered with the spirits of several monsters defeated by the Ultra Brothers, making it among the most powerful foes of the heroes have faced so far. Juda sends it out to attack the Land of Light after Alien Hipporito succeeds in incapacitating the Father of Ultra and while Taro is distracted with battling Enmargo.

Despite its debut film being one of the lesser-known entries of the franchise, Grand King's impressive appearance and formidable power has made it a fairly popular monster. It has since gone on to appear in a number of later ''Franchise/UltraSeries'' as a very powerful enemy of the Ultras. In all of these appearances, it is given an updated form, such as [[Series/UltramanGinga Super Grand King]], [[Series/UltramanOrb Maga-Grand King]], or [[Series/UltramanRB Grand King Megalos]].
----
* BarrierWarrior: Able to form an energy shield around its body that prevents the Ultra Brothers from making close contact with it.
* BreakoutVillain: For a monster whose only appearance prior to 2013 was a fairly obscure compilation movie, Grand King has proven popular enough to become one of the most powerful recurring foes of the Ultramen.
* BreathWeapon: Its immensely powerful signature ability, the Gran Laser. However, Grand King can also fire the same beam from its forehead and tail.
* TheDragon: To Juda, acting as his greatest tool of destruction.
* HumongousMecha: Grand King is a gargantuan dinosaur-like robot powered by the vengeful spirits of [[Series/{{Ultraman}} Alien Baltan, Red King, Gomora, Alien Mefilas,]] [[Series/UltraSeven Eleking,]] and [[Series/UltramanAce Alien Hipporito]].
* HybridMonster: Grand King is powered by the vengeful spirits of six foes from past series. Its appearance also takes cues from other monsters, such as its horns evoking Gomora's head crests and the claw on its right hand resembling Alien Baltan's pincers.
* TheJuggernaut: Always. In its debut, it survived being hit by ''multiple'' {{Finishing Move}}s at once, and then completely overpowered Ultraman, Zoffy, Ultraseven, Ultraman Jack, Ultraman Ace, and Ultraman Taro, forcing the Ultra Brothers had to merge their powers with Taro to even stand a chance.
* ThePowerOfHate: Part of the reason why Grand King is so strong is that the monster souls that power its body hate the Ultramen ''that much'' for defeating them.
* RightHandOfDoom: Its right hand is a powerful drill, while its left hands is an enormous claw capable of grabbing the Eye Slugger without being harmed.
* ThisIsADrill: Equipped with one as its RightHandOfDoom.

A child monster encountered by a young Ultraman Taro at the beginning of the film when he is training to become a great warrior out in a canyon somewhere in M78. Taro tries to start a fight with the creature until the Mother of Ultra intervenes to scold him for his mischief.
----
* BenevolentMonsters: The Mother of Ultra describes Dokkun's species as an entirely peaceful race. However, that doesn't stop the young Taro from picking a fight with him.
