The titular witch and protagonist. A foul-mouthed girl who wishes to cover the whole world in a swamp to claim as her dominion before she dies in 100 days.
----
* AwesomeMcCoolname: Metallia is a pretty awesome name, and her original Japanese name Metallica is even cooler. Invoked in Chapter 8, when young Lia (her original name) asks the Old Hag for a cooler name, which results in her name becoming Metallia.
* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Of the swamp itself. This is why she can't leave it, and why it drains as she uses her magic.
* BackFromTheDead: A seed is left after her sacrifice. Malia plants it and several years later, Metallia returns in full form.
* BadBoss: She frequently dishes out verbal and physical abuse to both Arlecchino and the Hundred Knight, though she gradually treats them with more respect as the story goes on.
* BerserkButton: Being called Lia. [[ThatManIsDead She will angrily and insistently demand that you call her Metallia.]]
* {{BFS}}: She pulls out a giant black sword a few times after being freed from execution. In the [=PS4=] UpdatedRerelease, she uses the same sword during her playable moments.
* {{Bookworm}}: Arlecchino claims she's read over three million different books, and her current reading speed is about 100 books per day.
* BreakTheHaughty: She's eventually invited to the Walpurgis Soiree and arrives the at the proper place with all the ingredients and even performs the incredibly embarrassing "Walpy Shuffle" for several straight hours. Turns out it was a prank by the other Great Witches, who send holograms of themselves to laugh at her misfortune. Cue massive HeroicBSOD.
%%* BrokenBird
* ClusterFBomb: She's very prone to saying the "f" word, which the game bleeps out every time she tries saying it. Same with everyone else.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Is definitely this with the Hundred Knight.
* DarkMagicalGirl: Along with many other Witches in the game, despite the game's comedic elements.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: You don't really control her, but her loyal servant. Still, she does all the talking.
* DubNameChange: Her original Japanese name was Metallica. Yes, she shared the same name as the [[Music/{{Metallica}} heavy metal band]], which is the most likely reason for the change. With her original name changed, her nickname also had to be changed from Rica[[note]][[SpellMyNameWithAnS Rika, Lika, Lica...]][[/note]] to Lia.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Lia, and she hates it when anyone refuses to call her by her real name. Inverted. Lia ''is'' her real name. The Old Hag gave her the name Metallia when Malia teased her about her name.
* EquippableAlly: In the ''Disgaea'' games, she's a monster-type unit, which means she can be Magichanged into a weapon. In particular, she takes the form of a broom that's classified in-game as a staff.
* EvilLaugh: Metallia goes with the typical WickedWitch "Kehehehehe".
* {{Expy}}: She's basically [[Franchise/TouhouProject Marisa Kirisame]] with [[Franchise/{{Disgaea}} Etna's sense of clothing]] and [[Manga/BlackLagoon Revy's]] [[SirSwearsALot personality]].
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: Due to her dwindling magic (and possibly combined with her being constantly tortured), her hair becomes much shorter and goes from blonde to black. It is at this point in the game where she pretty much completes her transition from {{Jerkass}} to JerkWithAHeartOfGold and becomes more focused on reviving Visco than spreading her swamp.
* ForTheEvulz: [[PlayingWith Played with]]. While she [[PsychopathicManChild definitely does enjoy what she does]], it's implied her attempts to bloom the pillars are actually her attempts to leave the swamp and see the outside world before she dies.
* FullFrontalAssault: When she uses magic to appear giant during her fight with Purple Peel and Thin Ice Lilly, she is completely nude. Notable in that she averts BarbieDollAnatomy by having [[{{Fanservice}} clearly visible nipples.]]
* FriendlessBackground: Comes with living in a swamp where the very air is a deadly poison.
* GuestFighter: Appears as a DLC character for ''VideoGame/DisgaeaD2''... As a "monster type" unit (piggyback riding ensues). She's also a DLC character for ''VideoGame/Disgaea5AllianceOfVengeance''.
* HatesBeingAlone: She has some '''serious''' abandonment issues.
* HeroicSacrifice: Metallia sacrifices her life to bring Visco back to life. Luckily, it doesn't last too long.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Major type B. [[{{Tsundere}} Not that she'll ever admit it.]]
* IWasJustPassingThrough: Her excuse for any of her "good deeds".
* ImmortalImmaturity: Due to having spent nearly the entirety of her 113-year-life stuck in her home, she never really got the chance to grow up and shows it with her snarky remarks and brash attitude. Resultingly, she never got any friends until Visco either.
* ItAmusedMe: A lot of the stuff she does has this as her reason.
* LadySwearsALot: Very prone to swearing, especially when she's pissed. However, her swearing is mostly censored even in Japanese due to age rating. The rest of the cast also have their swearing moments and those are bleeped as well.
* LeanAndMean: She's possibly the meanest protagonist within any of the NIS games and she's rail-thin.
* LikeMotherLikeDaughter: Her personality and vocabulary are almost identical to Malia's when she was younger. [[spoiler:Her alternate and older self also has the same quiet and mature attitude Malia currently has, implying that Metallia will become more like Malia in the future after growing up more.]]
* LoopholeAbuse: The contract she made to the Hundred Knight is null and void shortly after his first victory just because of a small technicality he didn't achieve: kill Malia. Therefore, the Hundred Knight is bound to her forever. Or he would be, except that as Metallia cheerfully points out, she only has a hundred days left to live, so 'forever' won't actually be that long.
* LukeIAmYourFather: [[spoiler:It's revealed during the Bad Ending route that she's actually Visco's mother, or more specifically an alternative version of hers is Visco's mother.]]
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: As evidenced through her SlasherSmile.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Metallia allows Sabina to flee and lie about her death and later tries to create a proper potion to lift Visco's curse. How does karma repay her? By having the potion fail to cure Visco's curse and having Sabina killed by Totopepe, who brings her corpse before the king. These two things convince the stereotypical manipulable King that witches are not to be trusted, thus leading to Metallia's public execution and a massive witch hunt.
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: For all that she claims to be a great and powerful Witch, Metallia does very little other than laze around the house and read all day, occasionally barking orders to the Hundred Knight and Arlecchino. This is partially [[JustifiedTrope justified]] because she's incapable of leaving her swamp and really can't do anything outside until the Hundred Knight does all the work paving the way for her.
* PromotedToPlayable: Subverted. While Metallia does become playable in the UpdatedRerelease's Tower of Illusions as a SuperMode for the Hundred Knight, it is not the Metallia of the main story who becomes playable, but an AlternateUniverse counterpart.
%%* PsychopathicWomanChild
* SmallNameBigEgo: Her power is undeniable, but she was almost completely unknown to the world despite her boasts of being a Great Witch.
* SolitarySorceress: With the exception of Arlecchino, Metallia has been living alone ever since the disappearance of her mentor the Old Hag and her falling out with Malia. The deadly nature of the swamp kept her isolated from all of Medea.
* {{Stripperific}}: Magic/game logic seems to be holding her "shirt" on her body
* {{Superboss}}: During a NewGamePlus playthrough, if the Hundred Knight chooses to voice its anger towards Metallia for feeding him ABC gum, then Metallia will fight the Hundred Knight. Granted, it's possible to do this on the first run, but as you've never even been allowed to even open the menus, you'll end up dead, nor can you even deal enough damage for it to register as a hit.
* {{Tsundere}}: Extra heavy on the tsun, but the dere does come out, mostly towards Visco.
%%* TsurimeEyes
* UsedToBeASweetKid: She had a very rough childhood.
%%* VillainProtagonist:
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Visco. Extremely heavy on the vitriolic part, but they gradually grow much closer through the game.
* WhenSheSmiles: They're few and far in between, but they are there.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: She has predicted she has 100 days left to live, and a countdown is shown every time you pass a certain point in the game.

[[folder:The Hundred Knight]]
!!The Hundred Knight
!!!Voiced by: Creator/KaoruMizuhara
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hundred_knight.png]]
An ancient demon of legend who is said to be a very powerful, though in truth it's just a small little knight with some hidden potential.
----
* AffectionateNickname: "Hunny Knight" from Mani. Also, "Blacky" from Lia during Chapter 8. [[BigDamnHeroes If you choose to rescue Metallia in Chapter 11]], she remembers the Hundred Knight from her childhood and starts to call him it again.
* BadassAdorable: Really really adorable and oblivious, but the little guy is being sent to destroy witches and their monstrous minions and he definitely gets the job done. He verbalizes cute Japanese onomatopoeia too.
* ButtMonkey: Because of Metallia overworking the little guy.
* ButThouMust: While he can voice his dissatisfaction or disagreement, he still has to do whatever Metallia commands. Emphasized in chapter 13, when the game asks you if you want to break the seal to free Metallia, all of your self-assertion choices are "Affirm". Metallia tries to dissuade him several times, telling him that he will free Niike and that there's no way for him to beat the god, but every self-assertion gives you nothing but "Affirm". [[UndyingLoyalty The Hundred Knight refuses to give you any other choice.]]
* ChekhovsGun: At the start of the game, Metallia mentions that she took something "small but valuable" from the Hundred Knight to seal the contract between them, leading many players to wonder what the Hundred Knight could have had in the Dark World and why it would be important enough to it to be worth stealing. This is revealed near the end of game: It's the name you entered during the tutorial.
* CloudcuckooLander: He can act a bit like this at times. One particular reaction to finding Metallia "dead" in her bed is to listen to the now talking bed, kick Metallia off of it, and then sleep on it.
* EldritchAbomination: A small part of one, anyway. He's a tiny piece of Niike, the true Hundred Knight. In that sense, Metallia's summoning was completely successful.
* ExtremeOmnivore: It is an actual gameplay element for him! Much like an earlier [[VideoGame/ZettaiHeroProject NIS game]], he has an energy meter, and all actions taken will drain "giga calories". To replenish this requires you to eat food, or more commonly ANY (yes, ANY) wounded enemies. Of note is that he lacks the secondary superpower of having an absurdly fast digestive tract, so you can only eat if you have room for the garbage blocks that will be added to your inventory.
** He also eats and stores all the equipment he finds in his stomach.
* GiantFlyer: In the final chapters, the Hundred Knight takes the form of a giant hawk-like creature.
* HelloInsertNameHere:
** The player can put in a name of their choosing at the start of the game, [[SubvertedTrope which is immediately subverted]] when Metallia decides that your name is Hundred Knight whether you like it or not.
** This is [[DoubleSubversion double subverted]] later when it is revealed that by taking away your name as part of the contract and giving you a new one, the Hundred Knight was prevented from using its true power. Eventually, she releases the Hundred Knight by speaking the name you entered at the start of the game.
* HeroicMime: He can still communicate quite well with others around him, but only through murmurs. In Chapter 4, [[LampshadeHanging Mani even flat out refers to him as a Silent Protagonist]].
* MegatonPunch: His preferred method of destroying the Pillars of Temperance or really anything in cutscenes.
* OneManArmy: What he is believed to be, which is why Metallia summons him in the first place.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Shorter than most of the game's cast, but is capable of knocking out people more than twice his size.
* UndyingLoyalty: He will fight through anything for Metallia's sake. Including unleashing and killing a world-devouring EldritchAbomination.
* TheUnintelligible: He's only capable of speaking in murmurs. While this is not much of a problem if he's asked a Yes or No question, anything more complicated will be very difficult for him to answer.
* VirtualPaperDoll: Can wear a wide variety of armor to change his overworld appearance, though it doesn't affect his avatar during conversations.

!!Arlecchino
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arlecchino.png]]
!!!Voiced by: Creator/KojiYusa (JP), Creator/PatrickSeitz (EN)

Metalia's (somewhat) loyal butler.
----
* TheButlerDidIt: Parodied. He kills Metallia in the middle of the night, then acts shocked and revives her the next morning. Upon awakening, she immediately snaps at him for making his "Murder Mystery Games" so predictable because ''he's always the killer.''
* {{Golem}}: He is a constructed from bones and clothes, created by Forest Witch Malia presumably to watch over Metallia's growth.
* LetsGetDangerous: He completely floors two incredibly powerful witch soldiers when Hundred Knight needs a distraction to escape Belda's Reverse-Amataya.
* MaliciousMisnaming: No matter how many times she corrects him, he always refers to Metallia as "Master Lia".
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: His purposeful sarcasm aside, he states he will '''never''' leave Metallia's side.
* [[NoHeroToHisValet No Villain To Her Butler]]: Arlecchino has been with Metallia ever since she was a child and knows more about her situation and motivation than anyone.
* ServileSnarker: Almost every other sentence is a StealthInsult towards Metallia.
* UndyingLoyalty: Literally. As a construct, he's functionally immortal as long as Malia is alive, since he was was created by the Forest Witch and his life is tied to hers.
* VerbalTic: He has a tendency to end sentences with a rather slow and drawn out "yes".

A young Inquisitor and the Princess of Amataya Kingdom. She mistakes Metallia for Malia, and asks her for help in lifting a curse that has given her the tail and nose of a dog.
----
%%* ActiveRoyalty
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: People were often talking behind Visco's back and making her feel ostracized long before she was cursed. The curse simply made it worse.
* AnimalMotifs: She has some of the personality traits of a dog, notably her fierce loyalty and protectiveness of her comrades.
* BarbieDollAnatomy: In chapter 2, when Metallia [[MakeMyMonsterGrow enlarges her]] so she can administer the antidote to her curse, Visco is completely naked but lacks any nipples or genitals.
* BigBadFriend:
** As an Inquisitor, it's Visco's job to hunt down and kill dangerous Witches like Metallia, though it may be a bit of stretch to call Metallia and Visco [[VitriolicBestBuds "friends".]]
** It's also, to an extent, inverted. Metallia is a VillainProtagonist for quite some time, and Visco is [[NiceGirl rather good.]]
* ButtMonkey: Absolutely nothing goes right for her.
* ForcedTransformation: Downplayed. She was only partially transformed, gaining a dog's tail and nose. Otherwise, she's perfectly fine.
* GirlishPigtails: According to the artbook, they cover up her small dog ears... while still resembling dog ears themselves.
* GorgeousGorgon: How her canine features are treated. Even though she still looks very human and is very cute, she's treated as if her dog nose and tail make her monstrously hideous.
* HeroicBastard: Part of the reason why she was ostracized, and for her immunity to Metallia's swamp. Her mother is hinted at, then later revealed to be Valaie, the Sun Witch from the flashbacks.
* HiddenDepths: She seems completely immune to the side effects of being in [[UniversalPoison Metallia's swamp]], and most forms of magic barely affect her. This is because she herself is a witch with latent powers. She was also taught the laws of being a Witch by her teacher, which prevented her from becoming a Dark Witch through inner strength.
* IWillWaitForYou: The images in the end credits imply this with an older Visco returning to Metallia's house.
* InSeriesNickname: She prefers to go by Visco. Less affectionately, she's sometimes called [[EmbarrassingNickname Princess Dog]], mutt, mongrel, or cur.
%%* LittleBitBeastly
* MoralityChain: She is the only person Metallia is even ''a little'' nice to.
* ThePollyanna: Though she can be rather grumpy and snappy at times, she is nonetheless extremely forgiving and optimistic.
* ReallyRoyaltyReveal: It's easy to think that the nickname of Princess Dog isn't serious, but come Chapter 6, Belda reveals that Visco really ''is'' a Princess.
%%* RebelliousPrincess
* SensoryOverload: That dog nose isn't just for show. Particularly bad smells can knock her out cold.
* ShooTheDog: Tries to convince Metallia to leave Amataya on several occasions when she's invited there, not wanting her to get dragged into the Kingdom's mess of back-stabbing and politics. Naturally, Metallia doesn't listen as Visco was the one she came there to see in the first place. Come the end of Chapter 10, though, Visco turns out have been absolutely right.
* TheWitchHunter: What she's supposed to be as an Inquisitor, but her condition has put her in danger of being brought before the Inquisition as a heretic.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lana Nia Lucchini]]
!!Lana Nia Lucchini
!!!Voiced by: Creator/TomoeTamiyasu (JP), Creator/EricaMendez (EN)
[[quoteright:192:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lucchini_100_knight.jpg]]

A young goat-like beastman that Metallia encounters in the Tettara Desert while searching for a Bell Plant. He is fascinated with Witches and wants to be Metallia's apprentice.
----
* {{Astrologer}}: Like the rest of his kind.
* BerserkButton: During the [[GoldenEnding "True Ending"]], Totopepe describes him and his abilities as "the pride of his village", which makes Lucchini VERY angry, as he actually slaughtered them all (including his mother) to make the Bell Flower bloom, an item used to play an unwitting prank on Metallia by the other witches. [[SenselessSacrifice It's very likely that having to kill all his friends and people for something that was merely a prop in a cruel joke is a serious sore spot for him]]. He no longer has a village to be the pride of.
* BigBadFriend: Is actually Totopepe's son and one of the masterminds behind the tragedy that occurs in chapter 11.
* BreakTheCutie: Witnessing the end of the world in his divinations was not a pleasant experience and goes a long way towards explaining his actions in-story.
* CheerfulChild: Despite all that happens to him and around him throughout the story, he acts like this a lot, remaining optimistic and surprisingly nice and well-adjusted through it all.
* CreepyChild: Which only makes his upbeat nature appear a little disturbing and out of place as the story goes on and things get seriously dark. In particular, his cheerful and casual tone when describing his father's attempts to [[RapeisASpecialKindOfEvil "join the royal bloodline"]] is [[NightmareFuel seriously unsettling]].
* CruelMercy: Metallia winds up sparing his life after the Hundred Knight defeats him in the GoldenEnding, since killing him is what he predicted she would do. By not doing so she [[ScrewDestiny screws destiny]] and makes sure he doesn't have an easy way out of paying for what he did.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: His rather feminine name and slender, petite build make it very easy to mistake him for a girl.
* {{Expy}}: Of Levin from [[VideoGame/SoulNomadAndTheWorldEaters Soul Nomad]]. Both are bovine characters who make sudden and shocking [[HeelFaceTurn turns]] on the main characters.
* {{Fanboy}}: A self-proclaimed witch fanboy who frequently gushes over the topics of witches and magic.
* FarmBoy: Was a shepherd before being exiled from his village and joining Metallia's group.
* FaunsAndSatyrs: He's a satyr and hails from a whole village of them.
* GuileHero: [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation One possible interpretation]] is that Lucchini was simply acting out the role of the villain and [[IDidWhatIHadToDo doing what he had to do]] in order to lead Metallia towards the events that would result in Niike's defeat. Although, that would mean that he has been purposefully following his own predictions, not exactly redeeming him either.
* LastNameBasis: He prefers to go by Lucchini, possibly because of his [[GenderBlenderName feminine first and middle names.]]
%%* NotSoHarmless
* SelfMadeOrphan: He ends up offing both his parents over the course of the story, though for different reasons each. His mother, Tito, dies during the village massacre. Totopepe only lasts for as long as he did because of his brute strength, but once the Hundred Knight defeats him during their second encounter, Lana decides that his foretold path has advanced far enough to the point that he [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness doesn't need his father around anymore]].
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Emphasis on the extreme part. He truly does want to stop the world from being destroyed, but [[MoralEventHorizon his methods]] and carefree attitude while he performs them raise questions about how much of it was really necessary.
* YouCantFightFate: Everything he does is because of his own readings of the stars.
* YouHaveToBelieveMe: Tried to warn his village about the [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt impending apocalypse]]. Of course, no one believed him [[ManipulativeBastard except his father, who just wanted to exploit it]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mani the Fairy]]
!!Mani the Fairy/Aguni
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mani_7.png]]
!!!Voiced by: Creator/ReiMatsuzaki (JP), Creator/XantheHuynh (EN)

A Swamp Fairy that befriended Metallia when she was very young. In reality, she is the reborn form of Niike's maiden, Aguni.
----
* AffablyEvil: While she wants to destroy the world as revenge for Niike's death, her upbeat personality seems genuine, and, despite having befriended her to use her, seems to like Metallia quite well. Until Niike is killed again, that is.
* BigBad: She befriended Metallia and helps her on her quest to destroy the Pillars of Temperance because doing so will release her beloved Niike and allow the pair to take revenge on the land of Medea by destroying it.
* BigBadFriend: Mani genuinely likes Metallia and the Hundred Knight as friends and jovially greets them before meeting them in battle as the FinalBoss with Niike, thinking of them as both friends and obstacles to her goal that must be eliminated.
* TheChessmaster: Carefully plots to keep Metallia working towards unleashing the pillars and making her think she's an ally the whole time. Even [[ManipulativeBastard Heinz]] has got nothing on her and her scheming puts him out of the picture far before he can get anywhere.
* EvilAllAlong: In the final chapter, she appears during Metallia's confrontation with the Old Hag/Uruka and kills the old witch, revealing herself as Aguni and seeking to resurrect Niike to destroy the world in vengeance.
* GenkiGirl: Mani is cheerful and perpetually peppy, always greeting her friends with a goofy nickname and chipper demeanour. This persists even after she outs herself as the BigBad and lasts even when she fights Metallia and the Hundred Knight, fading only when they kill her beloved Niike.
* InnocentInnuendo: She suggests that Lucchini bathe together with Metallia as a means of helping him get used to the idea of baths, and doesn't understand why he gets so flustered. [[ComicallyMissingThePoint She soon decides it's because he's afraid of bathing in poisonous swamp water]].
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: She is totally unfazed by being drenched in her own blood or being impaled by shards of glass due to her [[ThereWasADoor usual method of entering Metallia's home]].
* ManipulativeBitch: Mani effortlessly plays Metallia to her tune by convincing her to "gain power" by destroying the pillars when really this is playing right into her hands by bringing strength back to Niike's body to resurrect him.
* MaliciousMisnaming: Much like Arlecchino, she calls Metallia by her real name.
* TheNicknamer: Doggy, Arly, Hunny Knight...She has a nickname for just about everyone she meets.
* PsychoSupporter: Being used as a sacrifice to stop Niike and rejected by the world she was born to led her to begin lovingly worshipping the GodOfEvil, seeing him as the only one who understood her and will now stop at nothing to bring him back so they can end the world that hurt her so much.
* TrueFinalBoss: After defeating Niike, Mani/Aguni become consumed with rage and take on a OneWingedAngel form to battle Metallia and the Hundred Knight.
* VillainousBreakdown: Has a truly massive one after [[AffectionateNickname Mega Hunny Knight]]/[[EldritchAbomination Niike]] is killed by The Hundred Knight and Metallia.

!!!Voiced by: Creator/HitomiNabatame (JP), Creator/WendeeLee (EN)

Metallia's rival and mother-via-magic-seed, who owns a larger portion of land than she does and has been fighting her for 100 years.
----
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Most of the villagers think Malia is a freak for constantly going to the swamp and any attempts to prove otherwise ends in the villagers choosing to believe in their own InsaneTrollLogic.
* AloofBigSister: While Malia is Metallia's mother, she acts more like a sister toward Metallia, and a teasing one at that.
* BarrierWarrior: Her skills at creating magical barriers are top-notch, and she uses them pretty well, though her other magic abilities are nowhere near as advanced.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Even though she's stated to be a saint and beloved by everyone, she will still poison Hundred Knight if the player accepts the tea she offers. Could also show that Metallia's insistence that she wasn't to be trusted isn't too far off. And her attitude towards Metallia in Chapter 8 shows clearly that she wasn't always so friendly.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: She's the second boss fought, and defeated WAY before the big plot gets started.
* DubNameChange: Her original Japanese name was Marika[[note]][[SpellMyNameWithAnS Malika, Malica, Marica...]][[/note]]
* EasilyForgiven: Remarkably, despite everything inflicted on her by Metallia and all the bad things that happen to her in the story as a result of it (see [[FateWorseThanDeath Fate worse than death below]]), Malia not only forgives her but fights harder than almost everyone else in the story to help her in her times of need.
* FateWorseThanDeath: Metalia hexes Malia, her own ''mother'', by turning her into a mouse and then summoning ''horny mice to make lots and lots of brothers and sisters for her''. Then at the end of the day, her mouse form is seemingly caught, killed, and and cooked by Arlecchino and then fed to the Hundred Knight.
%%* GreenThumb
* ItCanThink: This is how Malia reacts if the Hundred Knight chooses to question Metallia's orders after she offers him some tea. Unfortunately, Metallia has Hundred Knight attack before Malia can go into detail.
* LadySwearsALot: She used to be just as foul mouthed as Metallia.
* LukeIAmYourFather: She is apparently Metallia's mother, but Metallia doesn't care much and punishes her anyway. Although the details are a little more complicated: Metallia was born from an enchanted seed Malia planted in the swamp using magic.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Metallia appears and gives her one once the Hundred Knight unseals the Pillar of Temperance.
* NotQuiteDead: Arlecchino lied about having caught and cooked her, and was presumably just trying to teach Metallia a lesson or trying to keep Malia from incurring Metallia's hexing any further. He uses the fact he's still functional as proof, as his life is tied to Malia's. If Malia had actually died, then Arlecchino would have essentially died with her.
* ParentalAbandonment: Her own parents were killed by the swamp's poison before she even became a Witch.
* TraumaCongaLine: Malia possibly has the absolute worst luck in the entire game. To wit, she is: turned into a mouse by Metallia, then almost raped by a pack of horny rats which Metallia summoned, tormented by children and poked with sticks, swallowed whole by predatory birds and forced to claw and bite her way out, chased through the Amataya sewers by Hundred Knight who then chops her tail off,
* TrulySingleParent: Metallia was born from a magic seed which Malia planted in the swamp, causing her to have a child without a partner.

A Great Witch, known by some as The Duchess of Flowers. Metallia picks a fight with her because her territory begins to encroach on Metallia's swampland.
----
* AdorableEvilMinions: Her Korigon, who follow Valentine's every whim and are utterly fearful if things don't go according to Valentine's will.
* BerserkButton: Refusing to do exactly what she says and especially any form of backchat are guaranteed to piss her off, as [[AlphaBitch Teresa]] finds out, only being let off because she was Belda's apprentice. For a bit.
* DoWithHimAsYouWill: Metallica tells the Korigon that Valentine had lost her power to Cigaro and no longer has power over them. Cue their {{Nightmare Face}}s followed by them trying to maul Valentine to death.
* FemmeFatale: As much as she can in a setting with [[ImprobablyFemaleCast no major male characters.]]
* FlunkyBoss: Like her [[VillainousGlutton sister]], she spends a lot of time conjuring mooks when you get to really fight her in Chapter 12.
* GoryDiscretionShot: She is savagely mauled and presumably eaten by her Korigon servants off-screen.
* OddNameOut: She is the only Great Witch without an official "The [Noun] Witch" title.
* PsychoLesbian: She invites Metallia to be her "nighttime attendant" in exchange for an invitation to Walpurgisnacht and kidnaps Visco after "looking her over, as if examining a product for sale", with the intent of turning her into a sex slave and nearly all of her dialogue with Metallia consists of not-so-subtle innuendos.
%%* SweetTooth
%%* SoundOnlyDeath
* WellDoneSonGuy: Most of her actions are a result of her wanting Dulche to praise her. In Chapter 13 though, Dulche does eventually give both Cigaro and Gelato some praise and encouragement. As cold and perverse as Gelato is, she really appears to be sincerely touched by it.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Turns one of her demon servants into a flower because the Hundred Knight was able to defeat him.

The current head of the Great Witches at Walpurgis, and widely considered to be the most powerful.
----
* BadAssBoast: Gets one given for her when [[FanBoy Witch Fanboy Lucchini]] meets her for the first time. He breathlessly starts listing her accomplishments and feats before asking if it's really her. She replies that yes, she is the same Nezaria he's talking about... and that she also killed 100 [[GiantMook Sand Eaters]] in the Tettara Desert, and she'd appreciate if he included that next time.
* CuteMute: Sort of. She has a very quiet voice, and uses her staff when she needs to speak loudly or sound official.
* LittleMissBadAss: Don't let her appearance fool you. She's easily one of the strongest witches there is and no one would ever dare contest it.
* MasterOfIllusion:
** As expected of someone called the Fog Witch, she is capable of making illusions of herself to confuse others. She uses this skill to [[FakingTheDead fake her death]] and escape Belda's trap at Brockentrum.
** [[AvertedTrope Averted]] later in your fight with her in Chapter 12, where she fights you without using deception, [[FlunkyBoss though she does spawn mooks to bite at your ankles]].
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Giving Lucchini that fog cloak seemed like a great idea. Then he used it to help his father slaughter everyone in Amataya Castle.
* OlderThanTheyLook: She looks like she's 9, maybe 10 years old. Rest assured she's likely the oldest of the Great Witches.
%%* TheStoic
* TheQuietOne: She rarely ever talks, and when she does, she's so quiet it's barely audible. Luckily, her staff can communicate for her.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure:
** She's the head of the Great Witches, but unlike the other Great Witches, she's willing to consider the opinions of outsiders. She's also one of the only witches who wasn't behind the plot to humiliate Metallia.
** Despite having every reason to wage war on Amataya Kingdom after the massive witch hunt that took out most of the Great Witches and many more, Nezaria wishes for nothing more than to establish a peaceful coexistence with it once again. It helps that most of the key players of the witch hunt are either dead or on the run.
* SmugSmiler: Her few smiles are often of the smug variety. They usually come out when she's either trolling Malia, feeling very proud of herself, or about to lay waste to her foes.
* {{Troll}}:
** Late in the game, she gives [[ForcedTransformation Malia Mouse]] a potion to help her to communicate beyond squeaking. Malia immediately asks how long she had it, to which Nezaria replies that she had it all along, she just found the squeaking really cute.
** Before that, when she reveals that Malia is still alive to Metallia, she "claims" that Malia is furious about everything she's been put through, even using swear words to convince Metallia that it's really her (since she ''did'' have that attitude as a youth but lost it in adulthood, it works), but Mouse Malia is shocked by what Nezaria is saying on her behalf.

%%* AmbiguouslyBrown
* AssholeVictim: [[TheDogBitesBack Eventually Lavi gets fed up with her and attacks her]] after her battle with the Hundred Knight in Chapter 12, accidentally killing her.
* BerserkButton: Pointing out her apprentice is stronger than she is.
* BrawnHilda: Easily the bulkiest of the witches.
* BlowYouAway: Her wind elemental attacks can hit pretty hard. In your rematch with her in Chapter 12, she spams tornados that stick around the arena for quite a while.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: She's the head of the Purple Peel Clan, and everyone (even those related to her) knows her by her title. It's never mentioned what her real name is, or even if she has one.
* IdiotBall: Has a massive turn with this after Visco suggests Metallia be made an official witch at Brockentrum, and outright votes against it, despite the fact that she (and everyone else present) were about to be painfully killed before this was suggested. [[TooDumbToLive She is also the only one present who does this]].
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: Is very sensitive to the fact that Lavi is a better witch than her, and regularly puts on an [[SmugSnake arrogant front and abrasive personality]] to cover it up.
* {{Jerkass}}: Easily the biggest one of the Walpurgis witches. She frequently [[KickTheDog demeans others]] and isn't too great to her niece and apprentice [[CuteWitch Lavi]] either. Though that's nothing compared to how she treats [[EmotionlessGirl Ryubence]]. She treats her like utter shit due to the contract between them and [[LivingMacguffin her being the property of the Purple Peel clan]]. Even [[VillainProtagonist Metallia]] [[LampshadeHanging lampshades how screwed up their relationship is]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Though she does become this thanks to Metallia's [[AlternateUniverse parralel world actions]], where she decides to freely release Ryubence from her contract to enjoy her freedom, however brief and shares a moment with Lavi.

* ComicallyMissingThePoint: She assumes that the reason she was given a restraining order from Malia is because she's a woman, rather than because she's [[StalkerWithACrush absolutely crazy]].
* GenderBender: She tries to turn herself into a man in order to gain Malia's affection, and at least partially succeeds. She manages to grow a penis, but it's not clear whether she became a hermaphrodite or actually turned into a man.
* InSeriesNickname: Thin Ice Lily.
%%* OhCrap: Has this reaction after her defeat.
* MadLove: Has a MASSIVE case of this towards [[HotWitch Malia]], to the extent of [[GenderBender trying to become a man]], eventually ending in a meeting where the other Great Witches [[HollywoodRestrainingOrder unanimously voted that she stay at least 50 feet away from her at all times]]. [[TooMuchInformation She goes into great detail about her attraction]] to [[WitchDoctor Nahab]] when she gets Utsushi. Even [[DirtyOldMan he's]] squicked out by this. This also explains a lot about why she was so angry when she heard about Metallia's part in Malia's disappearance.
* {{Revenge}}: Upon hearing that Metallia was the cause of Malia's absence, she becomes hellbent on making sure Metallia pays for it.

* BerserkButton: Any (however vague) suspicion that Heintz is interested in someone else and not her will make her go absolutely psycho.
%%* BewareTheQuietOnes
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Her innocent appearance hides a very nasty individual. She steals Metallia's Green Crystal, orchestrates her frame-up, torture, and trial along with Heintz, and designs [[AntiMagic anti-magic]] golems to slaughter all of the Walpurgis witches, several of whom she knew well. [[KickTheDog She also gleefully offers to "go into detail" about Metallia's execution to Arlecchino and Hundred Knight when they fall into her trap]] in downtown Amataya.
* TheChessmaster: She's pretty good at manipulating events and setting traps, but this is all she's really good at, and even admits how hopelessly outclassed she is in terms of power against witches like Nezaria.
* FreudianExcuse: She was bullied and the only one who showed her kindness was Heintz. Doesn't excuse what she does to Visco and Metallia.
* GreenEyedMonster: Attempted to turn Visco into a dog after finding out she was engaged to Heintz.
* IgnoredEpiphany: When Heintz sends her out on what is pretty much a suicide mission as punishment for failing him, Belda is utterly shocked that Heintz would do this to her. But instead of realizing that Heintz never cared for her and that earning his favor isn't worth it, she goes LaughingMad and proceeds to deliberately turn herself into a Dark Witch so she can destroy all of Heintz's enemies all just to avoid being discarded by him. She's so delusional that it's clear that she never considered that even if she did succeed, Heintz would more than likely have her killed just because she's a monster. Even when she's resurrected, she's still fixated on Heintz.
* KarmaHoudini: Despite everything she's done, she gets revived at the end, and unlike the other characters, there are absolutely no hints of her having changed for the better.
* LoveMakesYouEvil: Has a huge crush on Heintz, mostly [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe because he treated her better than everyone else]]. She's also prepared [[MoralEventHorizon to torture, murder and betray every other witch in the world with outright genocide]] to earn his attention, and will go [[TheCorruption even]] [[DesperationAttack further]] than that to avoid being discarded by him.
* MadLove: Relationship-wise, she's the one chasing Heintz, but Heintz is just using her.
* MeaningfulName: Considering how nasty she can be, "''Scum'' Witch" is a rather fitting title.
%%* NerdGlasses
* OneWingedAngel: Fittingly for one known as the [[MeaningfulName Scum Witch]], the form she assumes is that of a giant [[BlackMagic dark]] [[AnimalMotif Centipede]].
* RewardedAsATraitorDeserves: Belda sells out her fellow witches and condemns them to genocide, all in order to earn Heintz's favor. After Nezaria arrives and helps Hundred Knight and Visco save Metallia, Heintz pretty much rewards Belda's dedication to him by sending her to fight Nezaria, knowing fully well she doesn't stand a chance against her. Even on the off-hand chance that Belda did somehow manage to kill Nezaria as a Dark Witch, it's all too likely Heintz would have [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness actually ordered her death under the excuse that she's a monster now]].
* SadisticChoice: Attempts to pull this on [[ForcedTransformation Visco]] when she finds out about the [[YouAreAlreadyDead death curse]] she put on Metallia, stating that if she dies, Metallia's curse will lift but Visco will never be human again, but if Visco lets Metallia die, Belda will restore her form. [[ScrewYourUltimatum Visco kills Belda without a shred of hesitation]].
* SelectiveObliviousness: It's pretty clear that [[ManipulativeBastard Heintz]] is using her, [[BerserkButton but just try telling her that]].
* ShrinkingViolet: She acts very quiet and shy in many of her appearances, and often backs away quickly when challenged, and she's shown on many occasions to be very sensitive and easily affected by things.
* ThanatosGambit: The aforementioned SadisticChoice turned out to be this. She knew Visco was willing to throw away her chance at being cured to save Metallia's life and used her fatal blow to transform into a [[TheCorruption Dark]] [[OneWingedAngel Witch]].
* VillainousBreakdown: After her plans fall apart and Heintz sends her on what is basically a suicide mission, Belda goes LaughingMad and proceeds to discard her MaskOfSanity by insulting Visco to her face and reveal herself as the one who cursed her, proceeding to trick Visco into striking her down so she can turn into a Dark Witch in a desperate attempt to avoid being discarded by Heintz. It’s pretty clear that she’s so delusional that she refuses to consider that even if she succeeded, Heintz would more than likely have her killed.

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Sabina was alienated and rejected by everyone she knew, and secretly wished they would all die. The hatefulness in her soul gave birth to a Dark Witch, which then did just that.
* BodyHorror: Her body is covered in in foul smelling, infected, rotting wounds. She uses magic to [[GoryDiscretionShot render herself partially invisible]], so as to not frighten people. Though, it does nothing to mask the smell, which is described as "Rotting meat stuffed with shit".

* CuteMonsterGirl: She's essentially a giant bipedal cockroach with a human face on the underside of her head.
* {{Foil}}: To Belda. Both love Heintz and would do anything for him even if it means turning into a Dark Witch. The difference is that Mitten only saw the good side of Heintz, tried to protect him from afar, and did her best even though she may have known he was courting Princess Hilda while Belda completed every evil task he asked her of without a shred of regret and would kill anyone who even thought of being with Heintz. In addition, the way Heintz treats them is very different. Whereas Heintz is clearly using Belda, Heintz's friendliness towards Mitten is genuine, giving Mitten his mitten when she was cold, showing concern when he saw her corpse on the road, and feeling slight happy and nostalgic when Mitten's human reincarnation finds him.
* ForcedTransformation: Mitten is actually a Witch that has been overwhelmed by dark magic and lost her memory.

* HopelessSuitor: She asks for Metallia's help so she can "support the prince". When Lucchini presses her for more information, she admits that she has fallen for him. Metallia immediately refuses her request on the basis that it is impossible and pretty stupid to play matchmaker for a giant insect and a human prince. Though in reality, Metallia refuses the request for a very different reason... Mitten is a Dark Witch.
* PlayingWithFire: Her primary method of attack as a Dark Witch.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Once she transforms completely into a Dark Witch.
* ShaggyDogStory: Despite all that Lucchini and Hundred Knight do to help Mitten meet her prince, it all becomes meaningless when she transforms into a Dark Witch and Metallia orders Hundred Knight to [[MercyKill put her down.]]
%%* ShootTheShaggyDog
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Garbage. She just can't help but shovel it into her mouth.
* WhatTheHellHero: She throws this at Lucchini because he essentially tells her that if she wants the prince to like her, she has to stop doing everything that makes her who she is (Stop eating trash, fly or walk on two legs instead of six, wear perfume to cover her stench, etc).

[[folder: Wedge and Biggs]]
!!Wedge and Biggs

Two knights that serve under Visco and accompany her on her trip to meet with Malia. They harbor no loyalty to Visco whatsoever, and both end up being killed in the forest trying to abandon her.
----
* AllMenArePerverts: Even though they had perfectly good reasons to serve Visco, they only agreed to help her so they would have an excuse to hang around a cute young girl.
* AssholeVictim: Both of them joined Visco just so they could ogle a cute girl, then they insult her behind her back and plan on abandoning her in the woods when things begin to look for the worse. Shortly after, both of them die.
* BringMyBrownPants: The noxious gas of Metallia's swamp has made both of them very sick.
* TheCaretaker: Wedge was this for his ailing mother. Didn't stop him from taking a mission for the express purpose of hanging around a cute girl.
* EasilyForgiven: Even when Visco learns of their true colors, she adamantly in her goody-two-shoes-princess-manner believes they had a good reason for helping her and mourns their deaths.
* {{Retirony}}: Biggs joined Visco as "one last job" before retiring to work a farm with his wife. However, given that he only took the job so he could perv on a teenage girl, one must question how enthusiastic he was about the prospect.
* ShoutOutThemeNaming: They are ether a ShoutOut to ''Franchise/StarWars'' or a ShoutOut to Franchise/FinalFantasy's recurring ShoutOut to ''Franchise/StarWars''.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Looks like Nippon Ichi has been taking notes from Creator/SquareEnix[[note]]Wedge and Biggs are commonly used as names for ThoseTwoGuys in the Franchise/FinalFantasy series[[/note]].
* VomitDiscretionShot: Due entirely to graphical limitations and the current 3D presentation the game took for its release, we never see any of the visually unpleasant side effects Metallia's swamp is having on their bodies.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: The pair are seen in Visco's first appearance, and die almost immediately afterwards.

Visco's loyal squire, who accompanies her on her trip to meet with Malia.
----
* AxCrazy: Some of his more...unsavoury actions indicate very well that he is ''disturbed''.
* BeastMan: His true form, which is a giant beastly satyr, bigger than humans.
* TheBrute: He lacks intelligence and cunning, and despite all the despicable things he has done throughout the game, he wouldn't have gotten as far as he did without the guidance of Belda or Lucchini.
* CreepySouvenir: Enjoyed murdering Visco so much that he decided to carry her corpse around in a sack on his back.
* EvilLaugh: Likes to come out with a guttural "Guhuhuhuhuh" whenever he does something really nasty. Expect to hear it a lot.
* HateSink: He's an unintelligent assistant to genocide and avaricious bastard who goes so far as to slaughter his way through the kingdom to steal the crown and rapes one of the princesses to death. While Totopepe is initially built up as a silly side character, the reveal makes him out to be a fully detestable villain.
* KnightOfCerebus: His murder of Visco is what drives the game to its darkest arc.
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: Stupid as he may be, Totopepe reveals he's strong and sadistic enough to cause a tragedy for Metallia and Visco.
* TheSociopath: A cruel psychopath, Totopepe tortures Metallia while giggling and impulsively murders the entire kingdom for the sake of his own power.
* SlasherSmile: Sports a permanent one in his [[BeastMan real form]].
* TortureTechnician: And a truly vile and sadistic one at that.

The Princess of Amataya Kingdom and Visco's elder sister.

* BackFromTheDead: Along with all the dead castle people and a few other outsiders, thanks to Metallia destroying the parallel world versions of all those who died at the castle per Torude's explanation on how to revive them, except Visco's alternate self, who Metallia refuses to harm to revive the Visco of her world.
* KilledOffScreen: A seriously nasty one. She's heavily implied to have been [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil raped and murdered by Totopepe]] during his attack on the castle at the end of chapter 11.
* SiblingYinYang: She looks nothing like Visco, and [[TomboyAndGirlyGirl their personalities are polar opposites too]].
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Gets about enough screen time to give a greeting before she gets raped and killed by Totopepe offscreen.

[[folder:Heintz]]
!!Heintz
!!!Voiced by: Creator/ShuutaMorishima (JP)

A well loved and handsome young nobleman, and the adopted son of Lord Damuu. He is currently courting Princess Hilda with the intent of marrying her.
----
* BitchInSheepsClothing: He acts as a NiceGuy in public while secretly plotting to remove witches as part of his plan to increase his own standing, even using his own charm to make others commit atrocities for him.
* CorruptedCharacterCopy: He bears a similar resemblance to Almaz from [[VideoGame/Disgaea3AbsenceOfJustice Disgaea 3]] in appearance and initially in personality as well. But whereas Almaz is a genuinely kind person who loved Princess Sapphire, Heintz turns out to be a ManipulativeBastard who was only attempting to court Hilda and Visco as part of his power-hungry plan, not out of love.
* FinalSolution: Him and his father's plan to remove the witches and gain power is this.
* KickTheDog: Breaks Metallia's arm at the kingdom's celebration. He's also fine with ordering Visco killed.
* ManipulativeBastard: Despite his [[PetTheDog pet the dog moments with Mitten]] and seemingly nice attitude, he is this through and through. He tried to marry into the royal family by courting Visco, and immediately moved onto her sister Hilda when she left the kingdom. He also conspires with Belda by taking advantage of her crush on him to frame Metallia and coordinates the [[WitchHunt witch-hunt]] plot with his father and brother. His motivation for this is to remove the witches as a [[TheMagocracy ruling power for the Kingdom]] and increase his own standing, allowing him to rule through "Pure Politics".
* PetTheDog: Towards [[CuteMonsterGirl Mitten]]. He sees her at the roadside and unlike other characters in the story, is not repulsed by her and gives her his, [[MeaningfulName mitten]] to keep warm. He is also one of the few people who was ever nice to Belda, even if it was a lie.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Unlike most other examples, he's warm and friendly on the outside but utterly cold and ruthless deep down.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: What we see of him later is really a far cry from the kind boy who gave Mitten a mitten. In fact, he was about to go over to Mitten's corpse until he then reminds himself that he's no longer the same person he was before, staying through with his evilness to the end.

* TheWitchHunter: Like Visco, he is a member of the Inquisitors.
* YouHaveFailedMe: Abandons Belda almost instantly after it's revealed that Nezaria and the Hundred Knight escaped her traps, and forces her to fight them both in an attempt to buy time while he evacuates Amataya with the king.

* DeadpanSnarker: He's very fond of this.
* EvilTwin: Seems to be this at first, but [[SubvertedTrope is subverted later]] when it becomes clear he's just Heintz' lackey in his schemes, and that his brother is [[ManipulativeBastard far more manipulative and ambitious]] than he is.

!! Lord Damuu

The head of the Church of Niike (and by extension the Inquisitors) and a prominent Figure in Amataya's politics. He is Heintz and Jack's adoptive father.
----
* AssholeVictim: Is stabbed and killed by Jack in the chaos when [[BigDamnHeroes Nezaria, Visco, and the Hundred Knight crash Metallia's public execution]]. Considering all the tropes associated with him, this is one man no one is going to miss.
* CorruptChurch: At the very least, an individual example. His plans to dispose of the witches and extend the church's influence had been in the making for quite some time.
* FinalSolution: Conspires with his sons to rid all of the witches from Medea. It's unknown whether this driven by a personal hatred of them, a religious aversion to them, or simply just to eliminate an [[TheMagocracy organisation he's forced to share power with]].
* MyCountryRightOrWrong: Pulls this argument on [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure General Jilden]] when he questions the Witch Hunt. Damuu argues their slaughter to be a sacrifice to ensure Medea's security. While Jilden accepts the argument, he still publicly voices his doubts.
* SoundOnlyDeath
* TheWitchhunter: In a manner of speaking. He's the leader of the Church of Niike, and the Inquisitors answer to him.
* UnwittingPawn: The circumstances of his death suggest he is this to [[ManipulativeBastard Heintz and Jack]], using his desire to rid the world of Witches and control of the Inquisitors to their advantage. They only want political power and [[YouHaveOutLivedYourUsefulness dispose of him when he can't be of use to them any longer]].

The true Hundred Knight. An ancient dimension-travelling eldritch horror that once threatened the world. Though it was defeated long ago, the witches who fought against it could only seal it away. And now the seals are weakening...
----
* {{Cult}}: The Church of Niike, which is already a full-blown major religion well before the game starts. Naturally, none of them have any idea what he is or that he's hell-bent on indiscriminately destroying them.
* EldritchAbomination: An otherworldly monster that has the power to travel across dimensions and devour planets.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: The pillars were forged from Niike's bones, and making them bloom weakens the seal.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Despite having world-ending powers, he's presumed to long dead for most of the game and even when he's revealed to be alive, his sealing has rendered him completely inactive. While he and Mani/Aguni are easily the game's most dangerous opponents, she is the one who directly involves herself in the plot, while he is reliant on her to free him.
* PlanetEater: Niike is an insanely powerful godlike being that devours worlds to eat.
* PunchClockVillain: Is this at first. His purpose is to regulate the ever expanding number of [[AlternateUniverse parallel worlds]] by destroying them, which he dropped as soon as he fell in love with Aguni. After having Aguni used as a hostage against him, being decapitated, killed ([[NotQuiteDead sort of]]), and his bones carved into to pillars to [[SealedEvilInACan seal him away until he properly died]], [[{{Revenge}} his motivation to destroy the world]] became ''far'' [[ItsPersonal more personal]].
* SealedEvilInACan: Until Metallia starts smashing the pillars.
* TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt: What will happen if Niike gets free.
* TrueFinalBoss: Shares this with Aguni/Mani. [[DoubleMeaning Which is fitting given the game's title]], as your final opponents are [[FridgeBrilliance The Witch and The Hundred Knight]].

!Magolia
Introduced in the UpdatedRerelease ''Revival'', Magolia is the AlternateUniverse counterpart of Madea with much of the game taking place in the Tower of Illusions. As such, many of it's denizens are AlternateUniverse counterparts to the original cast. Only character tropes related to the Tower of Illusions are listed here.

[[folder:Denizens of Magolia]]
!!Lia
An alternate version of Metallia. Unlike Metallia, Lia doesn't seem to be confined to her swamp. She seeks to reach the top of the [[BonusDungeon Tower of Illusions]].
----
* ActionGirl: Unlike Metallia, we actually get to control Lia during some parts of the game.
* BerserkButton: She doesn't like being called kind. Unsurprisingly, Arlecchino, being unflinchingly polite, presses this button all too often.
* HalfHumanHybrid: She was born to a human father and a witch mother. The other witches often mock her for it.
* LastOfHerKind: In her world, the Great Witch Hunts killed off nearly all witches, leaving her as one of the last survivors.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Since the Hundred Knight can't speak, Lia doesn't know why he seems so familiar with her.
* MagicKnight: Lia is both a powerful mage and decent swordsman, compared to Metallia who, outside of a few cut scenes, generally used powerful magic. However, Metallia has better overall mastery of magic, unlike Lia whose abilities are tailored specifically for combat.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: One of the first things that surprises the Hundred Knight is that she willingly calls herself "Lia", which was Metallia's major BerserkButton in the main universe.
* SuperMode: Acts as one in the Tower of Illusions; saving up enough "Concentrated Mana" lets you temporarily take control of her in place of the Hundred Knight.
* ParentalAbandonment: Both her father and mother disappeared when she was young. [[spoiler:Malia reveals her father was dying from a disease, so he used what little time he had to climb the tower and wish that Lia wouldn't be lonely. The fate of her mother is unknown[[note]]While Malia is Metallia's mother in Madea, it is unknown if that holds true in Magolia. Malia only says she knows Lia's mother and nothing is expanded on[[/note]]]].
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: Subverted. While she leaves the Hundred Knight to do most of the fighting, she chips in every once in a while as sort of a SuperMode.
* TookALevelInBadass: Zigzagged. Unlike Metallia, Lia does not require the mana of the swamp to stay healthy, being able to fight very well on her own. On the other hand, her magical abilities aren't nearly as impressive, lacking the magical knowledge and the nearly unlimited potential of Metallia.
* TookALevelInKindness: While she's still an abusive LadySwearsALot, Lia is a bit nicer than Metallia, seeing as she's willing to help out the Hundred Knight on occasion AND teams up with her universe's version of Visco shortly after they meet.

!!Viscole Dotrish
The alternate counterpart to Medea's Visco, she is a knight who gained her dog-like features during the king's mad attempt to execute all dogs. She nervously enters the Tower of Illusions in order to wish for a cure to become a human again.
----
* ButtMonkey: Potentially even more so than her main universe counterpart due to being much more timid. She gets regularly freaked out and is often the subject of mockery and slapstick humor.
* {{Chickification}}: Medea's Visco was often shown to be brave and strong of heart in the face of danger as well as a capable warrior, being able to fight off dozens of her fellow Inquisitors. Her Magolia counterpart is much more timid and nervous and quickly falls to low level monsters. Her time with Lia, however, helps her become braver and closer to her Medea counterpart.
* ExtremeDoormat: She is unable to voice any of her opinions, becoming nervous at the first sign of trouble. Lia even says that her problem isn't so much her skill as it is her being completely unassertive.

!!Arlecchino
The alternate counterpart to Medea's Arlecchino. He is a golem who remained in the Tower of Illusions under orders from his previous master. He, unfortunately, lost his body during a scuffle with monsters and has remained headless for a long time until meeting Lia.
----
* OffWithHisHead: He lost his body during a scuffle with monsters because he absentmindedly threw his own head at them. Much like his Medea counterpart, witches who are really irritated with him usually kick his head off.
* RoboSpeak: Unlike his Medea counterpart, Arlecchino's speech patterns are much more stilted and awkward, made even more apparent in the original Japanese voiced dialogue. Before his head is reattached he even had a buzzing "BZZZT" as a VerbalTic.

!!Lucchini
The alternate counterpart to Medea's Lucchini. A beastman who traveled to the Tower of Illusions to meet witches and gain the power to defend himself from humans.
----
* FantasticRacism: He despises humans since they hunted down the beastmen as well as witches, whom he idolized. This has led to his initial disdain towards Lia and Visco
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: His initial contempt for the cast is rather off-putting as his Medea counterpart was regularly shown to be quite cheerful and accepting of others [[spoiler:even at his worst]]. He eventually acts much closer to his Medea counterpart once he accepts Lia and Visco as friends.
* UndyingLoyalty: In spite of Teresa's claims of being a more legitimate witch and other attempts to sway Lucchini to her side, Lucchini had already pledged himself Lia and wants to honor that pledge.
