* TheAgeless: Warlocks live forever. They age from birth until somewhere in their late teens/early twenties, after which they stop aging. Otherwise, they are vulnerable to injuries as mundanes are, but are seemingly only susceptible to supernatural diseases. At one point, under stress, Magnus Bane mentally snarks to himself that he may become the first warlock on record to suffer a heart attack.
* CallAPegasusAHippogriff: Warlocks who can't use magic are called Ifrits. In real life, Ifrits are a type of genie from Arabian mythology.
* HumanDemonHybrid: Are born when a human and demon mate.
* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: Warlocks stop aging somewhere between their late teens and late twenty's.
* ImmortalProcreationClause: Virtually all warlocks are infertile. The only exception is Tessa, because her mother was a Shadowhunter, but even she is unable to pass her immortality to her children.
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: All warlocks have a distinguishing mark that's unique to each one. Tessa is the only exception so far, [[spoiler: because her mother was a shadowhunter instead of a human.]]
* MeaningfulRename: Most warlocks have names related to villainy and/or the dark side, such as Bane, Loss, and Fell, possibly to symbolize their demonic ancestry. Magnus states that "Magnus Bane" is not the name he was born with, implying that it's customary for warlocks to rename themselves after they learn their heritage.
* MuggleBornOfMages: Ifrits are warlocks born without the ability to do magic.
* WizardsLiveLonger: They can live forever if nothing kills them.

----

* AmbiguouslyEvil: It's unknown if John ever intended his clockwork army to do harm on Shadowhunters, as his first goal was to protect Downworlders, understandable since without the Accords they were freely persecuted by the Shadowhunters.
* GoodParents: They raised the mundane Axel and loved him as if he were their own son.
