[[folder:Tsugumi Harudori]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HarukaChisuga (Japanese), Creator/BrynApprill (English)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tsugumi_3808.png]]

The protagonist of ''Manga/SoulEaterNot'', she is a weapon from Japan who developed a [[HeroWorshipper strong admiration]] toward Maka after their first meeting, even emulating her by putting her own hair in pigtails.

Prior to the beginning of the series, she never had a chance to transform before she arrived at the DWMA, where she eventually finds that her weapon form is a Halberd. There is an issue with her transformation, however. While she is capable of completely transforming her body many note how she lacks a sharp edge, making her useless overall in actual battle. And if that wasn't enough, she must also eventually decide who will become her real meister, Anya or Meme, due to the idea of a weapon with two meisters being unheard of and most likely not possible. The overall story revolves around Tsugumi trying to conquer these problems while also simply living her life as a student at the DWMA.
----
* ACupAngst: She's not too proud of her small bust especially when compared to her companions namely Meme.
* {{Catchphrase}}: In the anime, "Gagantous!"
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Her eyes and hair are both colored dark blue in manga pages, but her hair color in the anime was changed to black.
* ChickMagnet[=/=]DudeMagnet: Seemingly has three girls and one guy who are interested in her.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: [[spoiler:She loses her pigtails and lets her hair grow out at the end of the anime.]]
* GirlishPigtails: She starts wearing her hair this way to emulate Maka.
* HeroWorshipper: Tsugumi becomes a bit of one towards Maka after meeting her.
* InLoveWithLove: She's always introduces herself to the audience describing herself as such. When Akane said a love confession was just a joke, she felt relieved because she wants to [[DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife find a purpose in life]] before pursuing any romance.
* LoveTriangle: Meme and Anya are competing over who gets to be her meister. Due to the nature of weapon/meister pairs, this is how it comes off. Gets even more obvious in the manga with [[spoiler: the introduction of Ao, Tsugumi's third meister. The other two aren't amused and call Tsugumi a player.]]
* MeaningfulName: Her surname is Harudori, with "dori" written as "bird". Therefore "Haru-bird", therefore "Halberd".
* OnlySaneMan: While she has her good share of questionable moments, Tsugumi is arguably this as she appears more down to earth than her friends and is easily frightened when she witnesses them doing unimaginable things.
* PowerGivesYouWings: In the anime, she can grow a pair heart-shaped ones in weapon form thanks to soul resonance. They're fully functional and allow her to carry passengers.
* RidiculouslyAverageGuy: In the first chapter Anya says she could only stand out if she passed herself as the "God of the Common People" and correctly guesses she copied her hairstyle from someone else. In fact that's ''why'' Anya likes her; she thinks Tsugumi epitomizes the "common" folk she wants to get used to.
* TakeAThirdOption: Who did she choose as her meister, Anya or Meme? [[spoiler:Both of them.]]
** Take a Fourth Option: [[spoiler: Both of them ''and'' Ao]] in regards to the manga.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Meme Tatane]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AoiYuuki (Japanese), Creator/LindsaySeidel (English)

[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/meme_soul_eater_not_2277.png]]

One of Tsugumi's two roommates, and a meister with unimaginable strength and fighting prowess. ''Ridiculously'' ditzy, even forgetting her own name once in a while, but is shown to become serious when either Anya or Tsugumi fall into trouble. What is notable about Meme is that she is the most capable of the three girls in hand-to-hand combat, not even needing a weapon, though she still wishes to become Tsugumi's partner.
----
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:Thanks to Shaula's mind control. For the most part, she remained in control of her actions, but Shuala effectively used it spy on the DWMA and was able to take control of her body when needed. It's also heavily implied that her terrible memory was a side effect of this, which, if this is true (and the ending of the anime seems to support this), means [[FridgeHorror she's been like this for the entirety of the series.]] ]]
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: When attacked while she was asleep, she was able to fight off the attacker without waking up. Even when not sleeping she's incredibly fit, being able to jump about a dozen feet to snatch a fast-moving baseball right out of the air.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: She once spent a whole chapter wondering around Death City, carrying a handful of random items that she didn't even remember having in the first place. There also numerous moments throughout the manga where Meme would unassumingly say a phrase completely wrong, which would prompt Anya to immediately correct her.
* TheDitz: To the point that she has ''forgotten her own name'' several times.
* DitzyGenius: Despite her unbelievable forgetfulness, and the fact that she falls asleep when she studies, she gets the best grades out of the three girls. Not even Tsugumi knows how to explain it until she sees herself: she cannot only fight but ''study'' in her sleep.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Brunette, with eyes to match.
* CuteBruiser: Meme is a small girl wielding a huge halberd.
* ForgetfulJones: She has an amazingly poor memory. It's mostly played for laughs, but a chapter going through her WhatDidIDoLastNight ends with her wondering what else she's already forgotten or if she'll end up forgetting things she really ''doesn't'' want to, like her friends or even the thoughts she's having right then. [[spoiler:It's heavily implied in the anime that the memory loss is a side effect of Shuala's mind control, which is stated to be far stronger than that of everyone else who falls victim to it. In the ending of the anime, which tales place long after she's been freed of it, she doesn't appear to be anywhere near as air-headed and forgetful.]]
* HeavySleeper: So much so that even when she's fighting someone or taking off her own clothes in her sleep, she still won't wake up.
* IdiotHair: Played with on her introduction. She has a lock of hair that she ties into a little ponytail at the [[FashionableAsymmetry the side of her head]], which falls out when Tsugumi bumps into her. She redos her hair so the ponytail sticks up on top of her hair like a cowlick, though she changes it back when Tsugumi points out that that's not how she had it before.
* IronicName: "Meme", as it is written, ties into words meaning "thought" or "memory". Meme is an airhead who's terrible memory is practically a defining character trait.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Anya Hepburn (Anastasia Yngling)]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SaoriHayami (Japanese), Creator/AlexisTipton (English)

[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anya_6449.png]]

One of Tsugumi's two roommates, and a meister who is the first person to wield Tsugumi in weapon form, and is able to handle her with some impressive skill. A spoiled rich girl who is implied to have run away from home, she has trouble relating to anyone who didn't grow up wealthy, which is probably why she has such a strange obsession with ''commoner'' things. Her personality has also lead to her developing insecurities about her relationship with Tsugumi and Meme, as she believes she can never be as close with either them as they are with each other.
----
* ActionDressRip: In the anime, she tears off the skirt of her dress, to prepare to fight [[spoiler: a mind-controlled Meme.]]
* ClingyJealousGirl: Anya has a habit of giving off these vibes whenever Meme and Tsugumi are having fun without her. The most prominent example of this is seen when Meme and Tsugumi are paired up for training in class while she was left with someone else. Her reaction to all of this just screams this trope.
* FishOutOfWater: She's definitely not used to living among "commoners.”
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Her blonde hair reflects her elegant personality and implied high social standing. Despite coming off as haughty at first, she's has a good heart.
* InHarmsWay: Gets involved in a lot of fights that she doesn't need to, seemingly to prove her own strength to herself.
* MundaneObjectAmazement: Anya is a fangirl for anything "commoner"-related, indicated from her excited reaction to a regular market versus her disappointed reaction to the wealthy-looking Shibusen girls' dorm.
* PhenotypeStereotype: It's implied she comes from Europe. She has long blonde hair and blue eyes.
* {{Ojou}}: Not just in appearance and personality, but it's also heavily implied she might be an actual one, or, at the least, part of a blue blood family. [[spoiler:This is confirmed in episode 10.]]
* ShelteredAristocrat: She's unfamiliar with anything related to "commoners".
* TookALevelInKindness: At first, when Anya wasn't being {{Tsundere}} toward Tsugumi and Meme, she came off as rather aloof toward them. As the story progresses, though, she starts showing her more immature and caring side.
* {{Tsundere}}: She's a type-A toward Tsugumi, constantly showing signs of affection or jealously, then doing a very bad job of denying it.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: By virtue of being royalty and yet deciding to enroll in Shibusen.
* TheRunaway: Going by her words, she most likely ran away from home so she could start living her own life and experience the world of the 'commoner' on her own terms.
* WeaponSpecialization: Anya specializes in the lance portion of Tsugumi's halberd form. It goes well with her LadyOfWar image.

[[folder:Akane Hoshi]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TakahiroSakurai (Japanese), Creator/IanSinclair (English)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/akane_5060.png]]

One of the most skilled members of the NOT class, Akane is the meister of Clay and it's pointed out by many that the pair have such impressive skill that they should be in the EAT class instead. Acts something like Tsugumi's love interest, though whether or not his interest in her is real has yet to be revealed.

Akane and Clay make an appearance in the last arc of ''Manga/SoulEater'', establishing a connection between the main series and NOT.
----
* AnimeHair: In ''Soul Eater Not!'', his hair is quite normal, save for the big lock of hair that covers the eye [[spoiler: that signifies his heritage]]. In the ''Soul Eater'' series, he seems to develop a more punky hairstyle, with more [[ShonenHair gravity-defying elements.]]
* ContinuityNod: Participates in a major battle of his own during the Battle on the Moon against one of Kishin's soldiers.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: [[spoiler:Like the members of Star Clan, he also has a star-shaped iris.]]
* {{Inhuman Eye Concealer|s}}: His left eye is covered by his hair. [[spoiler: It's to hide the fact his eye has a star shape in it, which shows his heritage.]]
* MeaningfulName: Translated, his name is [[spoiler:Red Star]].

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Clay Sizemore]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Seishiro Yamashita (Japanese), Creator/BrycePapenbrook (English)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/clay_1933.jpg]]

Akane's weapon partner who is capable of turning into a sword. While more informal and direct than his partner, Clay is still just as level-headed and serious as Akane when the situation calls for it. While he doesn't interact with the girls as much as Akane does, he is still shown to be just as protective of them.
----
* CoolSword: His weapon form, a snazzy claymore.
* ContinuityNod: Is part of the team that fights on the moon in the original ''Soul Eater'' series.
* DitzyGenius: Smart enough to navigate hundreds of years of archived documents for what he's looking for. Slow enough that he needs to use his fingers to figure out one plus one equals two.
* MeaningfulName: His first name and the suffix of his last name put together is Claymore, which is his weapon form.
* SatelliteCharacter: In all but one chapter that Clay is featured in, he is always with Akane and what little we know of him is based on his interactions with his meister. In the one chapter that he isn't with Akane, he only interacts with Tsugumi and it just shows that he is on friendly terms with her, but finds her just as perplexing.

[[folder:Eternal Feather (Mai Thi Hoang)]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MikakoKomatsu (Japanese), Creator/KaraEdwards (English)
[[quoteright:178:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/feather_4191.jpg]]

A weapon from Vietnam living in the DWMA's girls' dorm, and an upperclassman friend to Tsugumi, Meme, and Anya. Due to having more experience at the school, she is the main person the girls go to for any advice or questions about how life at the DWMA works.

Eternal Feather is part of the NOT class, and her weapon form is a Butterfly Knife. It is unknown whether or not she has a meister, but nothing has been said about that matter.
----
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:She ends up victim to one of Shaula's mind-controlling rings which made her go on a rampage in a market and to [[PsychicAssistedSuicide try to kill herself.]]]]
* CoolBigSis: To essentially the entire girl's dorm.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Thanks to Kim. She claimed that she should be called that because she's so pale looking, and even went so far as to falsify a request to go by that name (and ''then'' demanded a "name-change fee").
* NerdGlasses: Her glasses do well to reflect her intelligence, and even give off a motherly vibe from her.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: The DWMA allows students to apply under any nickname of their choosing. Unfortunately for Eternal Feather, Kim made the decision for her. We only learned her real name when she's being interrogated but is suffering some temporary memory loss (and wishes she could still forget it afterward).
* PsychicAssistedSuicide: [[spoiler:Under the control of Shaula, she put her own knife against her throat and slit it. Thankfully, it wasn't that deep of a cut and she got better with the help of Dr. Stein.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Misery]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AiOrikasa (Japanese), Creator/MarthaHarms (English)
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mizerous_6871.jpg]]

The Superintendent of the girls' dorm. She first comes off as a sweet and polite young woman before revealing her more psychotic side to Tsugumi. She wants nothing more than for Tsugumi to act like her precious Mary Smith, a character from her favorite novel. It is currently unknown how Misery is ranked as a student, or whether she's a meister or a weapon.
----
* AxCrazy: Comes to be expected when you're based off Annie Wilkes. To put it into perspective, she's disappointed that Tsugumi doesn't act enough like her favorite character and so decides that the only way to fix that is to ''go into Tsugumi's room at night and try to fix her with a hammer.''
* {{Expy}}: Of [[{{Literature/Misery}} Annie Wilkes]]; she's even ''named'' after the movie/book the character is from.
* {{Fangirl}}: A fan of a certain book series and adores Tsugumi because she looks almost exactly like how Misery imagines the main character looks. When she discovers Tsugumi's nose is just a bit too big, she decides to fix it with a hammer.
* SeriousBusiness: Her name should give you an idea of how serious she takes her books.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: Literally how she tries to fix something.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kana Altair]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KotoriKoiwai (Japanese), Creator/AlisonViktorin (English)
[[quoteright:275:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kana_7657.png]]

The resident fortune teller in the girls' dorm. Altair is very direct about her fortunes, not even holding back when she tells a patron that their future may have a bad turn. At this point,it is unknown what her class standing is, or whether she's a weapon or a meister.
----
* AnimalEaredHeadband: She wears a hood with cat ears on it.
* FortuneTeller: She mainly uses tarot cards to make predictions whenever someone asks, and while a lot of them are direct and even mean, they're mostly true.
* EmotionlessGirl: It's hard to tell if she's truly emotionless or just passive aggressive. When telling Anya's fortune she seems to enjoy watching Anya freak out at being dealt bad cards.
* LittleMissSnarker: She does this [[SilentSnarker non-verbally]] through the tarot cards she draws.
* OlderThanTheyLook: She is much shorter and thus younger looking than the rest of the girls, but since she's enrolled at the DWMA and living in the dorms she must be at least in her teens.
* TheQuietOne: Altair does talk, but she mostly prefers showing folks her tarot cards to get her feelings or fortunes across.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ao Hoshino]]
->'''Voiced by:''' N/A
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/souleaternot_ao_hoshino.png]]
A freshman NOT meister who becomes Tsugumi's ''third'' wielder while the other two have to take care of personal matters.
----
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Like the members of Star Clan, she also has star-shaped irises.
* HeroWorshipper: Ao thinks highly of the Tsugumi, Anya, and Meme and looks forward to working with and learning from them.
* HimeCut: Not quite, but definitely based on it. The difference is that her sidelocks are actually longer than the rest of her hair and worn on the back. There's ties at the lower ends to keep them separate from the rest of her hair. From what's seen of her, she's calm, dignified, traditional, demure, and modest.
* LastEpisodeNewCharacter: Ao is introduced in the final pages of ''Soul Eater Not!'', which leaves her [[FlatCharacter underdeveloped]].
* MeaningfulName: Translated, her name is [[spoiler:Blue/Green Star]].
* SinisterScythe: Ao specializes in the scythe portion of Tsugumi's halberd form. It bodes just as nicely as her relation to the Star Clan does.
* SixthRanger: She's the fourth to the trio of Tsugumi, Anya, and Meme. But she's introduced in the final pages, so she doesn't get to do any actual rangering.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Ao generates stars around her and no one seems to find that weird. Of course, it's not clear if anyone but the audience can actually see it.
