[[caption-width-right:350:Trust us, he wasn't always like this.]]
-->'''Voiced by''': Spencer Drever (English; season 1), David Raynolds (English; season 2), Creator/DylanSchombing (English; "One Small Step"), Gordon Cormier (English; ''WesternAnimation/ReadyJetGoSpaceCamp''), Jeon Tae-yeol (Korean), Abigaly Claro (Spanish), Creator/NathalieBienaime (French; ''Space Camp'')

->''"Well, I couldn't really leave Cody all alone to help you, could I? Anyways it was Sherlock's idea."''
Mitchell Peterson is a nerdy and socially awkward neighbor of Jet's who is an aspiring detective. Many episodes feature him spying on Jet to find proof that he is an alien, as well as him trying (and failing) to expose him to the neighborhood. He often acts a callous, anti-social, and prideful jerk, but there's more to him than meets the eye. Mitchell has an accomplice in the form of his dog, Cody.

----
* AdorablyPrecociousChild: Though all the kids in the show qualify for this trope in their own right, Mitchell in particular stands out. He may be little, but he made an exact cake replica of Saturn V in one episode.
* AfraidOfClowns: "Jet's First Halloween" had a throwaway line about him thinking clowns are scary.
-->'''Mitchell''': (trying to pick out a costume) Pirate, no. Clown, too scary.
* AgentScully: Unlike Mindy and Lillian, he doesn't believe Halloween is magical and doubts that the witch they saw fly across the moon in "Jet's First Halloween" was real. In "Our Sun is a Star!", he somehow doesn't believe that there are other suns in the universe.
* AloofAlly: [[spoiler:Even when he becomes an ally to Team Propulsion towards the end of season 1, [[ReformedButNotTamed he is still rather snarky and aloof towards others]]. Best demonstrated in season 2's HalloweenEpisode "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!", wherein he doesn't really want to go along with Mindy and Lillian's fun. He also continues to reject help from others when trying to solve his detective cases, such as in "You Can Call Me Albedo". Despite all this, he will always pull through for his friends when the time is right, best demonstrated when he rescued his comrades from drowning in Little Dipper Lake in "One Small Step".]]
* AmbiguouslyBi: Mitchell has a ton of subtext with Mindy, as well as occasionally coming off a StalkerWithACrush towards Jet. Not helping is this line from "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace":
-->'''Mitchell''': I need to get closer to Jet.
* AmbiguousSituation: [[spoiler: "One Small Step" makes it ambiguous as to whether or not Mitchell now knows that the Propulsions are aliens or not. Mitchell rescued the kids in Little Dipper Lake, where they recap their adventure on the moon, and Mitchell is shown singing with the rest of the main cast about it.]]
* AnimalMotifs: Sharks. While Mitchell himself doesn't resemble a shark, his go-kart is painted to look like a shark. A shark stands for fierceness, authority, determination, remorselessness, efficiency, perception, mystery, preparedness, superiority, competitiveness, innovation, grace, and style. Mitchell fits quite a few of these: he's a mysterious kid that loves solving mysteries himself; "Racing on Sunshine" and "Kid-Kart Derby" prove that he is competitive and will do anything to uphold his status as the kid kart derby champion; Mitchell is determined to be a great detective and finally have a case he can solve, like exposing Jet's alien identity. Much like sharks, Mitchell is misunderstood.
* AntiHero: Mitchell can be sarcastic, condescending, and harsh towards the group, but he has a few PetTheDog moments that show that he ''can'' be nice. [[spoiler:"Holidays in Boxwood Terrace" has Mitchell trying to figure out how to be part of the group, which shows that Mitchell just wants to have friends.]]
* ArbitrarySkepticism: In "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!", he doesn't believe that Halloween is magical, and yet he believes that the Propulsions are aliens and is determined to find out the truth about them. He also actually believed that the kitchen counter was a black hole in "Detective Mindy".
* ArcWords: Whenever Mitchell fails to expose Jet's alien identity, and his parents tell him that he has a "great imagination", Mitchell always tells them that he has no imagination. He even says this to his mom in "Mindy's Moon Bounce House", his first appearance. However, in "Moon Face", he finally sees a face on the moon and realizes that he does have an imagination after all. "Moon Face" is also Mitchell's final appearance in a regular episode. In his final appearance overall, the ''One Small Step'' special, he says that Jet has "quite an imagination".
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: A parent and child example. Mitchell and his dad have a complicated relationship, but in "Solar System Bake-Off", Mitchell's dad shows that he does care for him when he compliments his rocket cake and hugs him.
* AttentionWhore: Especially in "Racing on Sunshine". The way his face looks as he comes in before the race starts just says it all.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Jet, Sean, Sydney, and Mindy (Jet and Mindy especially) showing kindness towards him despite his imperfections is what gets Mitchell to open up to them and become a trustworthy ally of the team.
* BecomingTheMask: [[spoiler:At least implied. As shown in "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace", Mitchell fakes his jerk attitude to hide his loneliness and social insecurity. Even after he befriends the other kids in this episode, he still acts like a jerkass in some episodes of season 2, although he's mellowed out a lot more. Since he is shown acting rudely towards the other kids in many episodes of season 1, it is implied that he's been hiding behind his jerk mask for so long, that it's become a part of his personality, and its something that he can't shake off, at least for the time being.]]
* BeneathTheMask: Even though Mitchell can seem harsh and snobbish, he does have a good heart deep down and softens up as the series goes on, as he often helps out and hangs out with the main characters.
* BerserkButton: Woe betide anyone that ''dares'' sneak up on him.
* BespectacledCutie: He is a RareMaleExample. His large nerd glasses and dorky tendencies help him become endearing to the viewer, especially after his character development.
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler: In the one-hour special "One Small Step", Jet, Sean, Sydney, Mindy, and Sunspot land their saucer in Little Dipper Lake, where the saucer sinks and they almost drown. Luckily, Mitchell, who was in a rowboat at the exact same time, came to their rescue and they hopped upon his rowboat. Out of gratitude, Mindy invites him to the sleepover.]]
* BigEgoHiddenDepths: He has a deep-cutting sarcastic/rude streak and projects a massive superiority complex in order to compensate for [[spoiler:his loneliness as a result of his poor social skills]].
* BigWhy: Mitchell screams "WHYYYYYYY?" in ''Space Camp'' when he fails to prove that aliens exist once again.
* {{Bookends}}: In "Mindy's Moon Bounce House", his first appearance, he tells his mom that he saw Mindy floating, but she doesn't believe him and says that he has a "wonderful imagination", and Mitchell protests that he has no imagination. In his final appearance in a regular episode, "Moon Face", Mitchell sees a face on the moon and realizes he does have an imagination after all.
* {{Bookworm}}: Mitchell is shown to be a fan of classic literature, as opposed to the other kids, who mainly read heavy textbooks and comic books. Mitchell is a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, and reads ''Literature/TreasureIsland'' in "Treasure Map".
* BrainyBrunet: Mitchell is definitely brainy, and he has brown hair as shown from underneath his hat in "Jet's First Halloween".
* BullyTurnedBuddy: "Bully" is far too strong of a word, but Mitchell was rather disrespectful and blunt towards Jet and his friends in season 1. Towards the end of that season, it's revealed that [[spoiler:Mitchell's poor social skills cause him to struggle with making friends, and he doesn't know how to fit in with the group so he developed a huge ego and a mean streak to compensate for it. However, Jet and his friends assure him that he's one of their friends and he can always join in on whatever they're doing. In season 2, Mitchell becomes nicer to the main characters, and becomes one of their strongest, most loyal allies by the end of the series]].
* ByronicHero: [[spoiler: Mitchell is antisocial and sometimes mean to others because he's hurting inside to his lack of social skills. What Mitchell doesn't realize is that he is loved. Cody is loyal to him, his parents love him, and Jet, Sean, Sydney, Mindy, and Lillian would love to be his friend if he could just lighten up. Shyness and poor social skills are very relatable to many viewers, especially in the target demographic of preschoolers. Eventually, Mitchell does soften up and becomes a worthy ally to the main characters by the end of the show.]]
* TheCameo: For no apparent reason, he made a cameo in "Sunspot's Sunspot".
* CanineCompanion: His dog, Cody.
* CassandraTruth: Whenever Mitchell tries to expose Jet, nobody believes him:
** This was first seen in his debut episode "Mindy's Moon Bounce House", but instead of trying to expose Jet, he tried to tell his mom that [[StalkerWithACrush he saw Mindy floating by on a kite string]], but then Mitchell's mom just says that she's glad that he has such a "wonderful imagination".
** In "Kid-Kart Derby", Mitchell tried to expose Jet before the race even started, by claiming that he put some sort of alien technology into his kid kart (Jet borrowed some junk from the DSA for his kid kart), but Jet gets off the hook because Mr. Peterson tells Mitchell that what Jet did was "recycling".
** Expertly played with in "Back to Bortron 7". In order to keep the Propulsions' alien identity a secret, Jet 2 has to project a hologram of their house so that no one would notice that they were gone. However, Jet 2 later has trouble keeping the hologram stable, which leads to it glitching. Mitchell even stays up all night to prove to his parents that the Propulsions are aliens from another world. However, when he takes his father outside, the hologram is perfectly fine, which leads to Mr. Peterson scolding Mitchell for waking him up at 2:00 AM. When the Propulsions are just about to land back on Earth, the hologram disappears completely, and then Mitchell tries to expose Jet's secret '''to the entire population of Boxwood Terrace''', however, Jet 2 causes an eclipse which distracts the townspeople from seeing the Propulsion house land back on Earth. Mr. Peterson scolds Mitchell again, telling him that he has quite an imagination, but Mitchell claims that he has no imagination.
** In ''Space Camp'', he records all the evidence of Stella's alien technology on his phone, only to drop his phone in a pool. After that, he tries to show Stella's ship to Dr. Chandra, but it disappears before Chandra can see it.
* CharacterCheck:
** Even though Mitchell has been taking a level in kindness in Season 2, in "Our Sun is a Star!", he's just as mean as he was in Season 1. However, this episode takes place in January, and Mr. Peterson is shown taking down Christmas decorations, so it's possible that this episode could have taken place after "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace", where Mitchell becomes part of the group. That episode was one of the very last Season 1 episodes, and Mitchell didn't start becoming nicer until "Try and Try Again", a Season 2 episode.
** In ''Space Camp'', he's still out to expose Jet's alien identity and acts like he doesn't care about him. He does strike up a friendship with Aurora, Houston, and Stella, though.
* CharacterDevelopment:
** Mitchell was a bit naive in season 1, as he actually believed Jet when he told him (in his alien costume) that he was from Bortron 7 in the HalloweenEpisode. Come season 2, however, [[spoiler: Mindy explicitly tells him that she went to the moon, and even holds up a moon rock, but Mitchell doesn't believe her]].
** He also seems to take a level in kindness in season 2. He still has his mean moments, but he's mellowed out a lot more and often helps out the kids, sometimes even being a complete sweetheart.
** [[CharacterCheck However, his development was reversed]] in ''Space Camp'', where he claims that [[InnocentAliens Jet]], who has been nothing but nice to him, is planning an alien invasion, and doesn't care about him. He accuses Stella of the same. However, he is still civil around Mindy, shows interest in teamwork instead of working alone, and seems to become friends with Stella towards the end (he still tried to expose her alien identity though, making it unclear how he feels about her).
* ChildProdigy: Mitchell is extremely smart for his age.
* ColorMotifs: Red is the primary color Mitchell wears. Red is a bright color and creates feelings of excitement and intensity. It is also used to warn of danger and can symbolize anger or passion. Mitchell is a threat to Jet's identity because he wants to expose the Propulsions as aliens. Mitchell symbolizes anger because he seems to have a bit of a temper as seen in episodes like "Kid-Kart Derby" or "Detective Mindy". Mitchell is also passionate about being a detective as well as his pet and Mindy.
* TheComicallySerious: He's a very smart and rational kid who's also very awkward and quirky in a way that's actually amusing.
* CompanionCube: The episode "Sean's Robotic Arm" reveals that he has a Sherlock Holmes figure.
* TheCutie: Mitchell is an amateur detective who wants to expose Jet's alien identity, but he's still an awkward little kid who loves his dog, Cody.
* DeadpanSnarker: Mitchell is the defining example of this trope in the show. For example, in "Detective Mindy", Mindy tells Mitchell that she was working on the case of "what Mitchell's doing", and then she giggles. Mitchell's response? [[SarcasmMode "Yes, very funny."]]
* DefrostingIceKing: Mitchell starts out as a withdrawn and pessimistic jerk who acts like he hates the main characters. Slowly, later episodes reveal that he does have a kind side. [[spoiler: Following the reveal of his true nature in "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace", he starts to defrost completely in season 2.]]
* DependingOnTheArtist: The animators just can't decide on whether he should be taller or the same height as Mindy.
* DependingOnTheWriter: Mitchell can either be a stoic but respectful child ("Solar System Bake Off", "Sunspot's Night Out") or a '''major''' jerk ("What Goes Up...", "Kid Kart Derby").
* DidntThinkThisThrough: In "Kid-Kart Derby", Mitchell finds the plans for an ion drive and installs it in his kart, but it does not work because Mitchell didn't read farther down in the plans.
* DistantReactionShot: At the end of "What Goes Up...", Mitchell screams at the sky, and his scream is so loud, that the camera zooms out on the Earth.
* DontSneakUpOnMeLikeThat:
** Mitchell '''hates''' it when people sneak up on him. In the episode "What Goes Up...", Mindy sneaks up on Mitchell as he is spying on Jet. He gets very startled. No violence is involved, since this show is for young children.
-->'''Mitchell''': ...Mindy?!? Don't sneak up on me like that!
** In "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace", Mitchell berates Jet for unintentionally sneaking up on him.
* DoorSlamOfRage: In "Mindy's Mystery", Mitchell is very angry at Team Propulsion because he thinks that they're not real detectives, so he slams the door to his house in their face very hard.
* DubNameChange:
** Renamed to Harald in the Norwegian dub.
** Renamed to Mikko in the Finnish dub.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler: In the ChristmasEpisode, Mitchell's predicament was that he wanted to be a part of the group, but can't quite figure out how to fit in. He had to sing an AwardBaitSong with them in the pageant in order to be welcomed into the group.]]
* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler: Mitchell stalked Jet without him knowing and tried to expose him multiple times, all of which failed. However, due to Jet's AllLovingHero nature, he doesn't hold it against him and welcomes Mitchell into the friendship group with open arms. The same goes for Sean, Sydney, and Mindy.]]
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: He has the palest skin of the entire cast, and has dark brown hair. And he's ''definitely'' more than a little off his rocker.
* EntertainmentAboveTheirAge: In "Treasure Map", Mitchell reads ''Literature/TreasureIsland''. Mitchell is also shown to be a fan of ''Literature/SherlockHolmes''.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: In his debut episode, "Mindy's Moon Bounce House", he is shown spying on Mindy's birthday party. The fact that he wasn't invited to the party shows that he's an outsider to the group, and his spying shows us that he's a wannabe detective. Later, he tells his mom that he saw Mindy floating by on a kite string. His mom doesn't believe him, showing that Mitchell is not taken seriously as a detective.
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: No matter how many times Mitchell tries, he just can't successfully expose Jet, because in this universe, the identity of the Propulsions is apparently the CassandraTruth.
* {{Fainting}}:
** He faints ''at the very sight'' of [[LoveInterest Mindy]] in "What Goes Up...", as well as in "Jet Shrinks the Kids".
** He also faints at one point in "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!".
** He faints in "Our Sun is a Star!".
* {{Fanboy}}: Appears to be one to Franchise/SherlockHolmes. He dresses up as him for Halloween, and even has a toy of him.
* FatalFlaw:
** {{Pride}}. He often lets it get to his head, which inevitably leads to his downfall. See NeverMyFault below for more information.
** A repeated theme with Mitchell is his tendency to try to please others, typically those who don't actually care about him (like the other residents of Boxwood Terrace) while pushing away those who do legitimately care (Jet, Sean, Sydney, and Mindy). Deep inside, all Mitchell wants is to be liked/loved, and while the background children fawn over Mitchell (like in "Kid-Kart Derby"), they have a parasocial relationship and thus don't know each other one-on-one, making a potential friendship somewhat unattainable. Jet, Sean, Sydney, and Mindy see Mitchell for who he really is and are always willing to invite him into their friendship circle, but Mitchell keeps pushing them away. This proves to be very self-destructive for him.
* FlatEarthAtheist: Assumes this role in "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!", where he is a staunch disbeliever in Halloween being magical. This is despite the fact that his neighbors are aliens, and time travel is possible within the universe as "Jet's Time Machine" demonstrates.
* {{Foil}}:
** To Lillian. They are both friends of Mindy, and two of the most popular recurring characters. However, they are different in many ways. Lillian is gentle, innocent, easily excitable, and a bit air-headed. Mitchell is easily pissed off, prideful, anti-social, and smart for his age. Furthermore, Lillian is an AgentMulder who is purely good, while Mitchell is a firm AgentScully who hides his good traits. Despite this, the very little amount of interaction they had in "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!" seems to prove that they are on somewhat good terms with each other. Justified as Lillian is best friends with Mindy, while Mitchell seems to like her a bit, which means that they are going to end up hanging out.
** He's also a foil to Sean. They are both the intelligent, dorky level-headed, voice of reason within their respective groups, and they both have YouthfulFreckles. They also both happen to be the love interests of their leaders (Mitchell for Mindy, and Sean for Jet). However, Sean is friendlier and more open, while Mitchell tries to shut himself out from everyone else. While Sean tries to be logical rather than impulsive, he has always liked Jet. It took a while for Mitchell to start warming up to Mindy.
** To Sydney. They both are the only kids of their respective genders in their age groups (Sydney is the only girl in the older kids and Mitchell is the only boy in the younger kids). They also both have emerald-green eyes. However, they cancel each other out. Sydney is highly imaginative, while Mitchell claims to have a terrible imagination. Sydney is very compassionate and makes friends easily, as opposed to Mitchell, who tends to be callous and has NoSocialSkills.
* FreudianExcuse: [[spoiler:The reason why he's such a stuck-up jerk is that he doesn't know how to interact with others and has a hard time forming friendships, making him a loner.]]
* FriendlyEnemy: Mitchell is this to Jet and his group. Mitchell is rude to the group, but he can get along with Jet and Mindy sometimes. He also tends to help them out, especially in "Eye in the Sky" and "Sean's Robotic Arm".
* GetOut: In "Mindy's Mystery", Mitchell tells the other kids to exit his yard in an extremely rude manner.
* GleefulAndGrumpyPairing: Mindy and Mitchell's relationship directly mirrors Jet and Sean's. Mindy is a CheerfulChild who is enthusiastic and curious about everything. Mitchell is a snarky, deadpan, egotistical, antisocial know-it-all. Mindy helps draw Mitchell out of his shell and become a better person over the course of the show. Like Jet and Sean, they also have ShipTease here and there.
* GoGetterGirl: Male example -- Mitchell always participates in the events around town, such as the kid kart derby, the baking contest, the pumpkin growing contest, and the Earth Day celebration, and always makes sure to put in his best effort to earn popularity and prizes. He made a very accurate cake replica of Saturn V in "Solar System Bake-Off", down to the most minor details. He worked very hard to grow his pumpkin in "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!", and won a ribbon for the most perfectly classic pumpkin. In "Every Day is Earth Day", he performs a very heartfelt poem about the Earth.
* GoodLuckCharm: "Magnet, PI" reveals that Mitchell wears a lucky magnet under his jacket.
* {{Greed}}: Implied in "Treasure Map", when he seems to want to keep the treasure chest all for himself.
* HalloweenCostumeCharacterization: Mitchell wears a Literature/SherlockHolmes costume during Halloween, showing his aspiration to be a detective. Sherlock Holmes being a classic literature character also shows Mitchell's love of classic books and desire to be taken seriously.
* HappyDance: Mitchell does a dance upon uncovering the treasure in "Treasure Map".
* HiddenDepths:
** "Eye in the Sky" shows that he is an expert on weather.
** Owing to his love of classic literature, Mitchell isn't a bad poet himself, as shown when he recites a poem he wrote in "Every Day is Earth Day".
* HiddenHeartOfGold: [[spoiler: Mitchell hides behind a jerk facade as revealed in the ChristmasEpisode. Mitchell acts mean to Jet and his friends, and Mitchell claims that he "doesn't do friends", but Mitchell isn't really mean, he's really just a lonely kid who wants to join Jet's group, but doesn't know how to fit in. Fortunately, he gets his happy ending.]]
* HisOwnWorstEnemy: [[spoiler: Mitchell's loneliness and lack of social skills cause him to build up a snobby jerk persona that is keen on exposing Jet's alien identity. However, these traits prove to be self-destructive; despite Jet, Sean, Sydney, and Mindy not having any animosity towards him, they often leave him out, forget about him, or are even cautious of him because of his stalker behavior and mean attitude, as the ChristmasEpisode shows. Mitchell shuts all his potential friends out by telling them to go away or leave him alone, since he does his detective work by himself. He realizes this and attempts to make a change in season 2 by being more polite to the other kids and helping them out instead of spying on them all the time. Sure enough, it works, and Mitchell is an HonoraryTrueCompanion of Team Propulsion.]]
* HonoraryTrueCompanion: [[spoiler:While Mitchell is not a member of the main cast of characters, by the end of the series, he's a trusted ally to them. He often helps them out like in "Sean's Robotic Arm" and "Eye in the Sky", and is much more of a sweetheart than he was in season 1. Solidified in "One Small Step", when he rescues the kids from drowning in Little Dipper Lake, and is invited to their sleepover. It's even implied that he now knows that the Propulsions are aliens.]]
* {{Hotblooded}}: He has a napoleon complex and takes being a detective VERY SERIOUSLY!
* {{Hypocrite}}:
** In "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!", he berates Jet for singing to his pumpkin, yet Mitchell insists that simply talking to pumpkins is perfectly normal kid behavior. Also, he calls his own pumpkin a "specimen" and his "precious".
** Mitchell is a huge one in "Mindy's Mystery". He dismisses Mindy's case as fake because she's looking for a smell, and yet Mitchell's case could also be considered silly by his logic because he's looking for a light.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: [[spoiler: The ChristmasEpisode reveals that all he wants is to have friends, but he is very shy due to his lack of self-esteem, and has poor social skills as a result. He also developed a mean streak and shuts himself out from everyone else. At the end of the episode, he gets his wish of having friends when Jet, Sean, Sydney, Mindy, and Sunspot assure him that they're his friends.]]
* INeedToGoIronMyDog: whenever Mitchell is about to be caught spying, he always makes flimsy excuses to leave.
** In "Kid-Kart Derby", when Mitchell overhears Sydney while he's in Jet's garage, Mitchell says that he thinks he left the hose on, or the lights.
** In "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!", when Jet and Sydney catch him spying on them, he says he has to go water his dumplings. Later, when he's with Lillian and Mindy, he says that he has to go do something completely different from what they're talking about.
* IWorkAlone: It isn't said verbatim, but Mitchell usually rejects help from other characters when trying to solve his cases, claiming that he needs to solve his mysteries himself, as shown in episodes like "What Goes Up...", "Kid-Kart Derby" and "Mindy's Mystery". However, this trope averts in "Detective Mindy" where Mitchell actually lets Mindy help him.
* ImNotHereToMakeFriends: In a non reality show example, in the ChristmasEpisode, Sean asks Mitchell if he wants to join them, saying that "you are our friend", but Mitchell claims "he doesn't do friends". Of course, he's lying.
* IdiotBall: In "Moon Face", he believes that there is a face on the moon, contrasting his usual need for logic. Then again, Mitchell has been known to take things literally.
* InconsistentSpelling: His surname is often spelled as '''Petersen''' in the closed captions and official episode descriptions, but according to the end credits, it is Peterson.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: Mitchell seems to suffer from one. It's very obvious that he has an inflated image of himself (see ItsAllAboutMe below), and sometimes acts like he's better than Jet and the gang in the contest-focused episodes. [[spoiler: Underneath, though, he seems to be emotionally insecure. He's socially awkward/shy and tries to act tough to hide it.]] "Try and Try Again" has him try to impress the other kids with his kick scooter, but gets nervous when they come to see it.
* InsufferableGenius: Mitchell is often the condescending and cynical know-it-all and his snide attitude often gets on other people's nerves.
* InTouchWithHisFeminineSide: [[spoiler: He wore the lavender nightshirt in the ChristmasEpisode]], and he wears Mindy's sparkly unicorn helmet with pride in "Try and Try Again".
* {{Irony}}: With his withdrawn, sarcastic personality, you would think that he'd be a cat person. He's actually a dog person, as shown by his love for his CanineCompanion, Cody. Dogs are much more social animals than cats.
* ItsAllAboutMe:
** Mitchell seems to have a bad case of this as shown in "Kid-Kart Derby". When he wins the soapbox derby, he is the only one cheering for him and even asks anyone if they want autographs from him, but instead everyone is looking up at and cheering Jet (who was parachuting) even though he lost the derby. Mitchell is the complete opposite of Jet, who is very selfless and tries not to expose his alien identity because he doesn't want to be a celebrity and leave his friends.
** Also in "Racing on Sunshine", before the race starts, Mitchell boasts that he was "ready to retire", but Cody convinced him to race again. Needless to say, the other racers weren't amused.
* ItsForABook: In the episode "Solar System Bake-Off", Mitchell sneaks into Jet's house to gather info on Mindy's baking contest entry. He writes down some information in his notebook. When Sydney asks what he's writing in there, Mitchell says it's for a cookbook. Or a blog. Or webisodes.
* IncomingHam: "What kind of Earth pet parachutes? Someday I'll figure that Jet Propulsion out. Someday. '''''JET PROPULSIONNNNN!!!!!!!!'''''"
* JerkassHasAPoint: In "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!", Mindy and Lillian keep insisting that Halloween is magical, while Mitchell repeatedly refutes their claims. Yes, he was rather blunt about it, but he did have a point that the stuff that they said were real like demonic spiders, ghosts, and witches are fake.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He is [[ItsAllAboutMe self-centered]], rude, and always wants to expose Jet's alien identity to the public. However, he does have a heart of gold once you peel back the layers. Episodes supporting this are "Detective Mindy" (where he is kind to Mindy), "You Can Call Me Albedo" (where he is genuinely worried about Cody's disappearance), and especially "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace", which reveals his true nature [[spoiler:that it's all just a facade to hide his loneliness]]. It's important to note that he's considerably mellowed out in season 2, though he still has his jerky moments.
* KarmaHoudini: Mitchell tried to get intel about Mindy's recipe in "Solar System Bake-Off" and cheated at a race in "Kid Kart Derby", but he never gets punished for this.
* KidDetective: The defining example of this trope. Mitchell is always trying to be a detective and find proof that the Propulsions are aliens. In "Detective Mindy", Mindy becomes Mitchell's detective partner.
* KnuckleCracking: In ''Space Camp'', Mitchell cracks his knuckles before going on the space rover simulator.
* LackOfImagination: Mitchell, being the AgentScully, refuses to believe that Halloween has any kind of magic. By his own admission, he has "no imagination". Whenever he tries (and fails) to expose Jet as an alien, his parents always say that he has a 'wonderful imagination', and he insists he lacks one. However, in "Moon Face", he ends up seeing a face on the moon and realizes he does have an imagination after all.
* TheLancer: Whenever Mitchell is grouped with Mindy and Lillian, he'll contrast Mindy, the leader of their little friendship circle. Mindy is very open-minded and prone to believing things that aren't true. This contrasts with Mitchell, who is more jaded.
* LargeHam: He can be very hammy and overly passionate when he's committed to being an a detective.
* LeaveMeAlone: Mitchell is trying to solve a case. If another character offers to help, Mitchell will usually turn them down, claiming that he works alone. Usually, this is out of shyness or overconfidence in his detective skills.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Mitchell's appearances are usually marked by a jazz snippet that wouldn't sound out of place in a noir film, fitting his KidDetective status.
* LimitedWardrobe: Except for "Jet's First Halloween" and "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!", where he wears a detective costume, Mitchell seems to never change clothes.
* LiteralMinded: In "Detective Mindy", Mitchell's mom's sunglasses go missing after she left them on the kitchen counter. Mr. Peterson remarks that the kitchen counter is "like a black hole", causing Mitchell to take this literally and think that the sunglasses were sucked into a black hole. Later, it's revealed that it was just an expression.
* LonelyAmongPeople: Boxwood Terrace being the small town that it is, everyone interacts with everyone at one point or another, and there are multiple events and contests held in the neighborhood, most of which Mitchell is involved in. Mitchell is shown to have two fans who gush over him when he arrives at the race in "Kid-Kart Derby", but despite all this, [[spoiler: Mitchell is a very lonely kid who just wants to have friends, but he doesn't know how to do it]].
* LonerTurnedFriend: [[spoiler: Mitchell was previously a ShrinkingViolet loner with a JerkassFaçade, who wanted to join Jet's group but didn't know how to fit in. However, once he sings with them in the pageant, he gets to belong to the group. Sydney and Mindy reassure him that he can always be a part of whatever the group is doing. So Mitchell is technically now part of Jet's circle of friends.]]
* MayIBorrowACupOfSugar: In the episode "Solar-System Bake Off!", Mitchell goes to Jet's house and asks for a cup of sugar, but really, he wants to gather information about his (speculated) crush Mindy's baking contest entry.
* MeaningfulAppearance: He has emerald-green eyes, due to him being an Earthie, intuitive, and passionate about what he does. His green eyes, along with his bright red clothing, nerd glasses, and large hat, also make him stand out the most out of the recurring cast, (due to being the most important), meaning your eyes are naturally drawn to him.
* MeaningfulName: Mitchell has the word "hell" in it, which is what he tries to make Jet's life. However, the name Mitchell means "who is like God", which shows that underneath Mitchell's jerk facade, Mitchell is truly nice.
* MissingMom: Mitchell's dad is ''always shown'', yet his mom has never been seen. She was only heard in "Mindy's Moon Bounce House".
* MobileShrubbery: Mitchell often hides inside an object and moves around while spying on the main cast. For example, he hides inside a present in "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace", and he hides inside a bush in "Jet Shrinks the Kids".
* MoeCouplet: Mindy and Mitchell - Mitchell brings out Mindy's confidence and leadership, and Mindy brings out Mitchell's kindness.
* MoralityPet:
** A literal example; despite his coldness, he genuinely loves his dog Cody, and becomes extremely worried whenever he goes missing, such as in "Sunspot's Night Out" and "You Can Call Me Albedo".
** Mitchell clearly loves his mother, and cares about her enough to make a whole detective case out of looking for her missing sunglasses in "Detective Mindy".
** Mindy later becomes one for Mitchell, because she's the very first character to extend a hand in kindness to Mitchell.
* MouthyKid: Mitchell is a very abrasive and snarky little nerd with a need to be condescending and sassy towards others.
* TheNapoleon: Mitchell is a little kid with big temper issues.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: He's the Mean to Lillian's Nice and Mindy's In-Between. He snarks a lot, and has a big ego. [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold He does have a good side, though]].
* NerdGlasses: Mitchell wears these kind of glasses.
* NeverBareheaded: Mitchell is never seen without his hat on. However, in "One Small Step", the force of the super saucer flying above him causes his hat to fall off, [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/readyjetgo/images/f/fe/Ready_Jet_Go_-_Mitchell_no_hat_no_glasses.PNG/revision/latest?cb=20190617151128 and we finally see him without his hat on]].
* NeverMyFault: In "Racing on Sunshine", the kids have to design solar-powered karts for the annual kid-kart derby. During the race, it gets cloudy. Jet and Sydney have batteries installed in their kid-karts so they can use the sun's energy later, but three-time champion Mitchell got too overconfident in winning the race, and did not think to use the battery. He ends up coming in at 3rd place, and he blames the clouds blocking the sun instead of his own carelessness.
* NoSocialSkills:
** Mitchell in the episode "Solar System Bake-off!" When he spies on the gang in order to gather information, he acts awkward and almost robotic around them, especially around Mindy. Before he entered the house, he was even thinking of what he should say to them.
** He also acts especially shy when Mindy compliments his rocket cake.
** Taken to insane levels in the ChristmasEpisode, where despite Mitchell acting mean to the gang like he usually is, he's really just acting that way because he doesn't know how to fit in.
* NosyNeighbor: Mitchell, being a KidDetective, likes to spy on the Propulsions, Jet especially, so he can gather proof that they are aliens. Sometimes, he even infiltrates Jet's house, like in "Solar System Bake-Off", "Kid-Kart Derby", and "Jet Shrinks the Kids". However, unlike most examples of the trope, he's not a busybody gossip.
* NoTrueScotsman: In "Mindy's Mystery", Mitchell is very snobbish and insists that Jet, Sean, Sydney, and Mindy aren't real detectives. When they ask him about his detective case, he snorts and says "Everyone knows that a real detective never tells what his case is."
* NotSoAboveItAll: Mitchell acts like he is a better detective than Jet and his friends, but he still attends Mindy's concert at the end of "Mindy's Mystery".
* TheOneGuy: In his group with Mindy and Lillian, he's the only male.
* OneHeadTaller: Mitchell is roughly a head taller than Mindy, and he possibly has a crush on her.
* OneOfTheGirls: Because Mitchell does not have any male friends who are his age (Jet and Sean are both older than him), he hangs out with Mindy and Lillian, who gladly accept him into their circle. Mitchell isn't hypermasculine at all and embraces his feminine side. In fact, he wore Mindy's sparkly unicorn helmet in "Try and Try Again".
* OnlySaneMan: In his circle with Lillian and Mindy, where he's the only one who isn't convinced that Halloween is magical.
* PetTheDog: Mitchell sometimes antagonizes the main group, but he can be nice to them. For example, he went to Mindy's concert in "Mindy's Mystery" despite being a huge jerk to her in that episode.
* PerpetualFrowner: His default facial expression is a frown. He is very cute when he smiles, though.
* PhoneaholicTeenager: Played with. He's a child (estimated to be around 5-7), not a teenager, but in the time between ''One Small Step'' and ''Space Camp'', he received a phone, and is glued to it. He is very hesitant to give it to Mindy, to the point where she has to pull it out of his hand. During the HardWorkMontage in the movie, he's shown using his phone instead of helping build the spaceship, causing Houston and Aurora to get angry at him. Mitchell, of course, is devastated when he drops his phone into the pool.
* {{Pride}}: In "Racing on Sunshine", Mitchell, the three-time kid kart derby champion, rejects help from Jet because he is sure that he will win. His overconfidence causes him to not think and forget to install a battery in his solar-powered kid-kart, and he ends up losing the derby because of it.
* RedOniBlueOni: In two ways.
** Mitchell is the Red Oni to Jet's Blue Oni. Mitchell often gets irritated, while Jet is more optimistic and patient. Fittingly, the former wears red while the latter wears blue. Mitchell could also be seen as the Red Oni to Mindy and Lillian's Blue Onis because those two are also calmer than he is.
** Mitchell is also the Blue Oni to Jet's Red Oni. Jet is super excitable and often leaps before looking. Mitchell, on the other hand, is calmer than he is and more pragmatic. He is also the Blue Oni to Mindy and Lillian's Red Onis because those two are very energetic.
* RedGreenContrast: He has red clothing and green eyes.
* ReformedButNotTamed: Mitchell is way more polite to others than he was in season 1, but he still has jerk traits, most notably in the early episodes of season 2 where he continues his spying habit and slight harshness towards others.
* RejectionProjection: Mitchell is lonely and wants to have friends, but he keeps pushing Jet and the others away when they try to befriend him. Then Mitchell assumes that everyone hates him. Heck, in "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace", Sean says that Mitchell is a friend, but Mitchell denies being friends with the other kids. Mere minutes later, he gets weepy over not being part of Jet's friend group. [[spoiler:Luckily, he becomes friends with Jet, Sean, Sydney, and Mindy later on]].
* RunningGag: Mitchell spying on Jet.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: The Savvy Guy to Mindy and Lillian's Energetic Girls. Mitchell is the OnlySaneMan of their little group and is more logical.
* SayMyName: "JET PROPULSIOOOOOON!"
* SecretChaser: Mitchell is one of ''the'' defining examples of this trope. Mitchell is almost always trying to find proof that the Propulsions are aliens.
* SeriesGoal: Expose Jet's identity as an alien.
* ShipTease:
** Mitchell has ''a ton'' of ship tease with Mindy.
** In Mitchell's debut episode, he watches Mindy very intently. In "Solar System Bake-Off", Mitchell acts very nervous around Mindy when he tries to get information about her recipe. In "Detective Mindy", Mitchell lets Mindy be a detective with him, and they bond after solving the case of the missing sunglasses. At the end of the episode, Mitchell gets down on one knee to propose that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship for him and Mindy. . Cue the older kids cheering after he says that. In "Mindy's Mystery", Mitchell was mostly mean to Mindy and her friends, but then he is shown at the end of the episode at Mindy's concert.
** In "Sean's Robotic Arm", Mindy hugs him. He looks surprised at first, but then smiles warmly at her as she pulls away.
** At the end of "One Small Step", [[spoiler: Mitchell rescues the kids from drowning in the lake with his rowboat]]. The kids head off to have the slumber party in Jet's backyard. Mindy goes back and invites Mitchell to sleep over as well. Mitchell has a huge smile on his face, stammers a bit, and says he's in. Mitchell and Mindy escort Jet 2 to the backyard together. At the backyard, while the older kids, Jet 2, and Carrot and Celery are sitting around the campfire, Mitchell and Mindy are off to the side playing mini-golf, just the two of them. They also sing together.
* TheShortGuyWithGlasses: He's one of the shortest characters in the show, and he wears a pair of glasses.
* ShrinkingViolet:
** Mitchell was this in the episode "Solar System Bake-Off!" where he acts rather shy around Jet and his friends, especially Mindy.
** Expanded upon in "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace".
* SignatureHeadgear: He always wears his red checkerboard aviator hat, which helps with his detective schtick.
* SingingVoiceDissonance: His singing voice in the ChristmasEpisode is much more high-pitched compared to his speaking voice. This is because his singing voice here was provided by Meg Roe as opposed to Spencer Drever.
* SkywardScream:
** Mitchell screams Jet's full name at the end of "What Goes Up...", after proclaiming that he will figure out Jet's alien identity one day.
** He also does this at the end of "Pet Sounds".
* SlaveToPR: "Racing on Sunshine" shows that he wants to keep up his reputation as the kid-kart derby champion and will do anything to keep that title. However, his pride and confidence get the better of him when he neglects to add batteries to his kid-kart for use when the sun is covered up by the clouds. He loses the derby and blames it on the sun.
* SleepDeprivation: In "Mindy's Mystery", Mitchell didn't get any sleep because a bright, annoying light kept him awake. Plus, in "Jet Shrinks the Kids", Mitchell's lines at the end of the episode imply that he doesn't sleep well at night, when he sees [[ItMakesSenseInContext Giant Mindy]], he wonders if he's not getting enough sleep. Then, when Mindy shrinks back to her normal size and sneaks up on Mitchell, he faints and wonders if he's getting ''too much'' sleep.
* SlobsVersusSnobs: "Earth Camping" shows that Jet is the Slob to Mitchell's Snob. Jet is more laid-back and actually loves making mistakes and playing around. Mitchell is more uptight and serious, especially when he chastises Jet for folding the map into a hat.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Mitchell has a very inflated image of himself. He acts like he's the world's greatest detective, and rejects help from others because he's so sure that he can do it on his own. He's also a SlaveToPR and likes to boast about his reputation and winning streak. However, he has an InferioritySuperiorityComplex, and he inflates his image to compensate for his deep-seated emotional issues and low self-esteem.
* SmartJerkAndNiceMoron: The Smart Jerk to Lillian's Nice Moron. Mitchell is quite smart for a kid his age, and he's also very blunt and snarky, with a high-and-mighty attitude at times. Lillian, on the other hand, is ditzy and forgetful, but makes up for it with her politeness and sweetness. However, Mitchell [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold is nice deep down]], and unlike most examples, he certainly doesn't go out of his way to bully Lillian.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Mitchell is very smart, and he even wears nerd glasses.
* SourOutsideSadInside: [[spoiler: Mitchell's jerk facade? It's all an act to keep up appearances. Mitchell can be rude, sarcastic, and blunt, not to mention that he constantly pushes others away from him because he "doesn't do friends". But on the inside, he's a lonely kid who has a hard time making friends and fitting in. All he wants is to have friends and to be taken seriously as a detective, but he expresses these desires in rather unhealthy ways. With the help of Jet and his friends, Mitchell slowly but surely breaks out of his shell and becomes a trusted ally and friend of Team Propulsion.]]
* TheSpock: Fills in this role in the FreudianTrio with Mindy and Lillian. Mitchell is socially awkward, a PerpetualFrowner, highly intelligent, and doesn't easily believe in the supernatural.
* SpoiledBrat: Mitchell is a downplayed example of this trope. In "The Grandest Canyon", when he and his father look at the Propulsions' pictures of Valles Marineris, Mitchell whines that the hats that the group wore in the picture were not at the store that was at the canyon that the Petersons went to. Also, in "Mindy's Weather Report", Mitchell whines that the sandbags are too heavy, and his father spoils him by carrying his sandbag for him. At the end of ''Space Camp'', he throws a tantrum on the ground like a toddler.
* StalkerWithACrush: Mitchell seems to be this in his debut episode, "Mindy's Moon Bounce House", where he watches Mindy through a pair of binoculars. He later tried to get intel about her recipe in "Solar System Bake Off!" However, the tables turn starting in "What Goes Up..", where Mindy becomes the stalker, by constantly sneaking up on Mitchell.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: Unlike the above trope, Mitchell spies on Jet because he wants to find out if he's an alien, not because he has a crush on him. Although sometimes it can seem that way, see AmbiguouslyBi above.
* StepfordSnarker: Mitchell is very deadpan, sardonic, and contemptuous, especially towards the main characters. However, [[spoiler:this is all a facade to hide his loneliness and insecurity deep inside]].
* StraightMan: To Mindy and Lillian, or at least he ''tries'' to be. He thinks he's the OnlySaneMan, but he too has his own little quirks.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: While Mitchell often acts like a harsh jerk in some episodes, in other episodes he's pretty compassionate and reasonable.
* SympatheticPOV: "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace" shows him in a far more sympathetic light than any other episode in season 1. [[spoiler:It's shown that his meanness is all just an act, and he only behaves like that because he wants to have friends, but does not know how to do so because of his lack of social skills. The others feel sorry for him and invite him to join the pageant when Sean gets stage fright.]]
* TalkingToPlants: In "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!", he talks to his pumpkin, claiming that its perfectly normal kid behavior, and calls it his "precious".
* TallDarkAndSnarky: Fits the trope like a glove. He is the tallest "little kid" on the show, has dark brown hair, and is a DeadpanSnarker. No wonder Mindy likes him.
* TearsOfJoy: Towards the end of "Sunspot's Night Out", Mitchell sits with the others and wipes happy tears when he sees Cody performing in a CatConcerto with the other neighborhood pets. This shows that he really does care for Cody despite bossing him around. And he's truly happy and smiling while with Team Propulsion.
* ThisCannotBe: In ''Space Camp'', Mitchell screams "NOT POSSIBLE!!!!" when he drops his phone, containing the evidence that Jet is an alien, into a pool.
* TokenEvilTeammate: [[spoiler: Since he's somewhat part of Jet's friend group]], he is this trope due to still somewhat being a jerkass, as well as still trying to find out Jet's identity. However, he's by no means evil.
* TokenWhite:
** While he's not the only white person in the show, he's the only white kid in his group with Mindy and Lillian. Mindy is Hispanic and Lillian is East Asian.
** He's also the only white kid on his space camp team. Houston is Black, Aurora is East Asian, and while Stella is a space alien, she has brown skin, implying that she's the Bortronian equivalent to Asian (her voice actress is Korean-Canadian), much like how Jet and his family are the Bortronian equivalent to white
* TookALevelInKindness: Mitchell is considerably mellowed out in season 2, especially in the second half. He was a jerk in season 1, and by the end of that season, [[spoiler: he gets to be in Jet's friend group]]. While Mitchell still has his occasional rude moments, he seems to get along with Jet and the gang a lot more. This makes sense when you consider that they're his friends now. And he is an utter sweetheart in some episodes, most notably "Try and Try Again" and "Sean's Robotic Arm".
* {{Tsundere}}: A firm Type A. Along with Helga from ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold'' (which is from the same creator), Mitchell may as well be the defining example of this trope. Mitchell constantly flip-flops from being stoic, yet respectful to be a cold, anti-social, jerkish spy.
* UnknownRival: Jet is unaware of Mitchell's goal to expose his identity. The only character who knows is Mindy. However, later episodes imply that the other kids are aware that Mitchell spies on Jet.
* VagueAge: Mitchell is either taller or the same size as Mindy, and does not know how to spell "electric engine" yet can make a replica of Saturn V and somehow managed to acquire an ion drive.
* VocalEvolution: His voice got raspier by the end of season 1.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: In "Magnet, PI", we never find out what Mitchell's "top-secret" detective case was. When he appears again at the end of the episode, he only wonders why Sunspot appears to be tap-dancing on the ceiling, and is then dragged away by Cody.
* WhenHeSmiles: When Mitchell shows a genuine smile of happiness, it's absolutely adorable. Some examples are "Solar-System Bake Off", "Moon Face", "Magnet, P.I.", "Detective Mindy", "Treasure Map", "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace", "You Can Call Me Albedo", "Try and Try Again", "Eye in the Sky", and "One Small Step".
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Mitchell is terrified of clowns (coulrophobia), as we learn in "Jet's First Halloween".
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Mitchell is this trope to the extreme.
* YouHaveGOTToBeKiddingMe: [[spoiler:In "Back to Bortron 7", Mitchell prepares to expose the Propulsions as aliens when he realizes that their house is gone and Jet 2 was just projecting a hologram. Suddenly, Jet 2 creates a ConvenientEclipse to distract the townspeople from seeing the Propulsion house land back to Earth. When Mitchell realizes this, he's incredulous and says "Come on!"]]
* YourSizeMayVary: Is he 1 or 3 inches taller than Mindy? The animators disagree with each other on this.
* YouthfulFreckles: Mitchell has freckles on his face, which can be seen in closeup shots.

!!Lillian
[[quoteright:299:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fullsizerender_58.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:299:Lillian, in all her HD glory]]
-->'''Voiced by''': Amelia Shoichet Stoll
Lillian is a minor character who makes her debut in "The Grandest Canyon". She is Mindy's girly friend. Lillian is a sweet, innocent girl, if slightly airheaded at times.
----
* ADayInTheLimelight: "Fact Or Fiction?" gives her the biggest role in an episode thus far.
* AgentMulder: Like Mindy, she believes in witches and ghosts and such. She even believes that clouds are made of cotton candy in "Fact Or Fiction?".
* AscendedExtra: Lillian gets bigger roles and more appearances starting in season 2, along with other characters like Mitchell and Dr. Skelley. This is likely because of their popularity in the fandom.
* AsianAirhead: Downplayed. She's Asian, but is slightly ditzy at times such as not knowing what perspective is, telling Mindy what her "surprise" birthday present was, and easily believes that Halloween is magical. Not to mention the whole "clouds are made of cotton candy" debacle in "Fact Or Fiction?".
* TheBusCameBack: She '''finally''' returns in "Mindy Turns Five", where she gets some much-needed development, and hangs out with the rest of Mindy's friends. She is also finally seen in the beautiful HD animation that Giant Wheel Productions, Studio Vysnc, and Enchanting Studio Limited currently do for the show, as opposed to the ugly, low-budget animation she was first seen in, in early season 1. It is just ''glorious'' seeing her in HD.
* TheCameo: Lillian makes cameos in "Kid-Kart Derby", "Mindy's Meteorite Stand", "Racing on Sunshine", and "Mars Rock for Mom".
* CannotKeepASecret: Lillian is terrible at keeping secrets, as she told Mindy what her birthday present was in "Mindy Turns Five".
* CheerfulChild: Well, obviously.
* TheCutie: Sweet, innocent, lovable. Yep, definitely fits the bill.
* TheDitz: Lillian isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. She didn't know what perspective was, she blabbed out what her surprise present was to Mindy, easily believes that Halloween is magical, thinks that Sunspot wears a costume, and believed that clouds are made of cotton candy.
* DressedToPlunder: In "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!", she dresses up as a PirateGirl, and her outfit is a pretty typical pirate outfit that includes the following tropes.
** EyepatchOfPower: She wore an eyepatch.
** HookHand: She had a hook on one of her hands.
** TalkLikeAPirate: Lillian even throws in an "Deliver me lumber!" for good measure at one point.
* {{Expy}}: Appearance-wise, she resembles Sonya Lee from ''WesternAnimation/LittlePeopleEgmont''.
* FacialProfiling: She's an Asian girl with almond-shaped eyes.
* {{Foil}}:
** To Mitchell.
** She's also a foil to Sydney. Both are the very kind-hearted and imaginative girls in their respective groups. But while Sydney is smarter and, while imaginative, knows how to separate fiction from fact, Lillian is more air headed and easily believes in the supernatural.
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: Lillian owns a teddy-bear named Fluffy Bear.
* GirlyGirl: '''And how!''' Lillian wears a big pink bow in her hair and a dress, and loves to play with dolls, and have tea parties.
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: She usually acts feminine, but lets her tomboyish side show when she dresses up as a pirate in "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!".
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Part of her dress is purple. She's graceful in the sense that she's a GirlyGirl who excels at gymnastics.
* HairColorDissonance: She is likely supposed to have black hair, yet it appears to be indigo. Lillian is the only character on the show to have an unnatural hair color.
* HalloweenCostumeCharacterization: At Halloween, Lillian wears a pirate costume, showing HiddenDepths - she's more than just a girly girl.
* HiddenDepths: She finally gets some in "Mindy Turns Five". She is revealed to be bad at keeping secrets, and she also does gymnastics. She can even do a flawless somersault.
* KindheartedSimpleton: Airheaded she may be, but she's still very gentle and polite.
* TheMcCoy: Fits this role in the FreudianTrio with Mindy and Mitchell. Lillian is more emotional and kind than both of them.
* NiceGirl: Lillian is friendly and polite to pretty much everyone. She is by far one of the nicest characters on the show, rivaling Jet, his parents, Sydney, and Bergs.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: She's the Nice to Mitchell's Mean and Mindy's In-Between. Lillian is kind-hearted and loving, and the most innocent of the trio.
* NoFullNameGiven: Her surname is presently unknown.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Wears a pink bow in her hair, and she is by far the most feminine character on the show.
* PirateGirl: Lillian dresses up as one in "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!".
* PutOnABus: After "Mindy's Meteorite Stand", she disappeared for a while with no explanation. She returned in season 2, though.
* RedOniBlueOni:
** She and Mindy are the Blue Onis to Mitchell's Red Oni, as they both get less angry than he does.
** They are also the Red Onis to Mitchell's Blue Oni, as those two are very excitable while Mitchell is calmer.
* SatelliteCharacter: Downplayed. While Lillian does have a distinct personality, almost all of her episode appearances have to do with Mindy in some way (having a sleepover with Mindy, spreading false info to Mindy, having a tea party with Mindy, etc). It seems that Lillian only hangs out with Mitchell when Mindy is also there.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: She and Mindy are the Energetic Girls to Mitchell's Savvy Guy, as they're both energetic and easily convinced while he's more skeptical.
* ShoutOut: Lillian is based off of a character from one of the shorts that Craig Bartlett made for ''Series/SesameStreet'', called "Lillian, Big Sister". She has the name of the big sister from the short, but the appearance of the little sister, which causes fans to believe that she has an unnamed older sister who wears yellow clothing.
* SmartDumbAndInBetween: Lillian is the Dumb to Mitchell's Smart and Mindy's In Between. Mitchell is incredibly intellectual and [[AdorablyPrecociousChild adorably precocious]] for his age, and that's saying something since Boxwood Terrace is full of [[ChildProdigy child prodigies]]. Lillian is the exception to that, since she's an AsianAirhead who CannotKeepASecret and at one point, believed clouds were made of cotton candy. Mindy is the middle point between the two. Mindy does know a lot about space for her age, but is prone to forgetting facts she learned in previous episodes.
* SmartJerkAndNiceMoron: The Nice Moron to Mitchell's Smart Jerk. Mitchell is quite smart for a kid his age, and he's also very blunt and snarky, with a high-and-mighty attitude at times. Lillian, on the other hand, is ditzy and forgetful, but makes up for it with her politeness and sweetness.
* TokenMinority: Lillian is Chinese-American. The fact that she was Asian was obvious due to her features, but her nationality wasn't confirmed until March 2021.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The girly girl to Mindy's tomboy.

[[folder:Dr. Rafferty]]
!!Dr. Rafferty
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dr_rafferty.png]]
-->'''Voiced by''': Creator/KeeganConnorTracy (English), Carmen Lugo (Spanish), Andrea Laudon (Hungarian), Jang Eun-suk (Korean)
Dr. Rafferty is Sean's scientist mother, who works at the DSA. Her assistant is Dr. Bergs.
----
* AffectionateGestureToTheHead: She gives one to Sean in "Face on the Fritz".
* AffectionateNickname:
** Sean calls her "Dr. Mom" as of the episode "Constellation Prize".
** A few of the other children have referred to her as "Dr. Sean's Mom".
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Implied in "Visit to Mom's Office". When Jet tells Dr. Rafferty that he is an alien from Bortron 7, Dr. Rafferty assumes that he ''feels'' like an alien, and she mentions that she felt like an alien when she was a kid.
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: In "Project Pluto", she unintentionally embarrasses Sean by mentioning that when he was four, he insisted on carrying a little purple hippo plush around.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The Redhead to Bergs' Blonde and Skelley/Peterson's Brunette (her hair is a reddish shade of brown).
* BrainyBrunette: Is an accomplished scientist, and has reddish-brown hair.
* TheCameo: Made one in "Every Day is Earth Day".
* EarlyBirdCameo: She made a cameo appearance in "Beep Has the Blues", where she analyzes Boop's camera on Mars, and is incredulous when she sees a footprint on the surface and it disappears. Her actual debut was in "Visit to Mom's Office".
* {{Foil}}: To Dr. Bergs. They are both DSA scientists who are friendly and teach the kids various things about science. Dr. Rafferty is competent and is almost never used for jokes, while Dr. Bergs is a bit of a bumbling BigEater who is often used for jokes, especially if it involves his coffee obsession. On the flip side though, Dr. Bergs has HiddenDepths - being related to Lone Star himself, while Dr. Rafferty doesn't have that kind of depth aside from her hobbies. While there is her apparent AllOfTheOtherReindeer childhood where she "felt like an alien", it is only implied and has never been mentioned since "Visit to Mom's Office".
* FriendlyTickleTorture: In "I Feel The Earth Move", she tickles Sean's belly.
* GoodParents: Dr. Rafferty is an excellent mother to Sean.
* HiddenDepths:
** "Freebird" reveals that she likes to study birds.
** "Mars Rock For Mom" reveals that she likes to collect rocks.
* TheMentor: She is the closest thing the show has to an actual teacher, along with Face 9000.
* NervousWreck: She can be pretty nervous when under pressure. Examples would be in "My Fair Jet", where she is anxious about the DSA Open House not going well, and in "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa", where she, along with her co-workers, is nervous about Ellen Ochoa's visit to the DSA. It's possible that Sean gets his NervousWreck tendencies from her.
* OnlySaneWoman: Dr. Rafferty is shown several times to be smarter than her coworker, Bergs. In fact, she is the smartest human character on the show. (The smartest character in the entire show is Face 9000).
* OrangeBlueContrast: Her blue shirt contrasts with Bergs' orange shirt.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Dr. Rafferty has pink glasses and earrings.
* SimilarSquad: To her son Sean, with whom she has SharedFamilyQuirks, namely them being the most nervous of their respective teams. Like his mother, Sean is fairly intelligent and level-headed (most of the time).
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Dr. Rafferty is an accomplished scientist, and wears glasses.
* TheSpock: Dr. Rafferty serves this role in the FreudianTrio with Skelley and Bergs. While Rafferty is more open and friendly than most examples of the trope, she's the most intellectual of three and even though she's a NervousWreck at times, at least she has more self-composure than Bergs.
* StacysMom: Jet had a crush on her for a few episodes (most prominent in "Visit to Mom's Office" and "Asteroid Patrol"), though this was eventually phased out.
* TrueBlueFemininity: She wears a blue shirt.
* UnnamedParent: Her first name is unknown.
* YouRemindMeOfX: In "Visit to Mom's Office", she says that Jet reminds her of herself when she was a kid. For context, Jet ended up telling her that he's an alien from another planet, but Dr. Rafferty interprets this as him pretending to be one, and says that she felt like an alien when she was kid, too. Dr. Rafferty also admires how Jet's got it all worked out.
* YouthfulFreckles: Dr. Rafferty appears to be relatively young, and she has freckles just like her son.

!!Dr. Bergs
[[quoteright:296:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/drbergs.png]]
-->'''Voiced by''': Creator/BrianDrummond
Dr. Bergs is Dr. Rafferty's co-worker.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: In "A Visit to the Planetarium", a man named Don appears in the booth to let Jet, Sean, Sydney, and Sunspot into the planetarium. Only his silhouette is shown, but it resembles Bergs. The kicker? They're both voiced by Brian Drummond. It's unknown if Don and Bergs are the same person, and if this would make his first name Don.
* AgonyOfTheFeet: In "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa", he hurts his foot.
* BigEater: Bergs loves to eat pies and other sorts of pastries.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The Blonde to Skelley/Peterson's Brunette and Rafferty's Redhead.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Despite his bumbling, Bergs is a very smart scientist who helps the kids learn facts about space.
* ButtMonkey: Can be this at times. Especially prominent in season 2, where Sunspot keeps stealing his watch.
* TheCameo: Made one in "Every Day is Earth Day".
* CelebCrush: Dr. Bergs seems to have one on Ellen Ochoa. He has a coffee mug with her face on it, and when she shakes his hand, he looks at his hand and smiles with absolute glee, almost like he's thinking "I'll never wash this hand again!". Dr. Rafferty can be seen giving him a funny look after that happens.
* ComicalOverreacting: In "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa", when he has borderline meltdown when his Ellen Ochoa coffee cup gets shattered.
* DramaQueen: As stated above, he is this in "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa".
* DumbBlonde: Subverted. While he may be silly at times, Bergs is still a respected and intelligent scientist.
* {{Fanboy}}: Dr. Bergs seems to be one to Ellen Ochoa. He even has a coffee mug with her face on it.
* FictionalFanRealCelebrity: In "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa", Dr. Bergs is shown to be a fan of Ellen, and he even has a mug with her face on it.
* {{Foil}}: To Dr. Rafferty. While there is her apparent AllOfTheOtherReindeer childhood where she "felt like an alien", it is only implied and has never been mentioned since then.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Bergs has blonde hair, and is one of the nicest characters on the show.
* HiddenDepths:
** It is revealed in the episode "Lone Star", that his great-great grandpappy was an early astronomer and actually built the Deep Space Array.
** In "Eye in the Sky" he reveals he was a Space Scout when he was young.
* TheMcCoy: He fills this role in the FreudianTrio with Rafferty and Skelley. He is the most emotional of the trio and the most prone to panicking under pressure.
* MeaningfulName: "Berg" is a topographical name for someone who lived on a hill or mountain. This fits him because his ancestor, Lone Star, built Boxwood Terrace's first observatory on a hill.
* TheMentor: Along with Dr. Rafferty and Face 9000, he is the closest thing the show has to an actual teacher.
* MustHaveCaffeine:
** Bergs ''loves'' coffee. He is almost never seen without a cup of coffee in his hand.
** In "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa", Bergs' already-established caffeine addiction is exaggerated, where he drinks lots of coffee to compensate for his nervousness and is devastated when his Ellen Ochoa coffee mug breaks. As such, Dr. Skelley advises him to drink decaf instead.
* NervousWreck: In "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa", while all the DSA scientists are nervous about Ellen's visit, Dr. Bergs certainly takes the cake. He tries to drink coffee to compensate for it but is only made more hyper. This isn't helped when his Ellen mug gets shattered.
* OrangeBlueContrast: Bergs wears an orange Hawaiian shirt, which contrasts with his blue jeans and Dr. Rafferty's blue shirt.
* SeriousBusiness: He ''clearly'' treats coffee as such.
-->'''Dr. Skelley''': What about your rule about staying calm in any emergency?
-->'''Dr. Bergs''': '''''[[SuddenlyShouting THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE COFFEE EMERGENCIES!!!!!!!!]]'''''
* SimilarSquad: Dr. Bergs is a reflection of Jet. Both Jet and Dr. Bergs are jovial and comedic. They both love pastries and tend to be the most overdramatic of their respective groups. We eventually learn that Dr. Bergs is the descendant of astronomer pioneer Lone Star, who Jet always portrays when Sydney tells tales about Lone Star. However, unlike Jet, Dr. Bergs is not the leader of the DSA scientists.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Bergs is an accomplished scientist, and he wears glasses.
* VibrantOrange: A vivacious BunnyEarsLawyer with a bright orange Hawaiian shirt to reflect his fun-loving personality.

[[folder:Mr. Peterson]]
!!Mr. Peterson
[[quoteright:216:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2017_12_01_at_82256_pm.png]]
-->'''Voiced by''': Creator/IanJamesCorlett
Mr. Peterson is Mitchell's somewhat snooty father. He is the judge/referee of contests around the neighborhood, such as the Boxwood Terrace Kids' Baking Contest, and the annual Kid-Kart Derby. "Mindy's Weather Report" reveals that he is the (self-appointed) safety officer of Boxwood Terrace. He is also a huge soccer fan. Wise advice: do not make him mad.
----
* AccentInterest: In the episode "Kid-Kart Derby", Mr. Peterson takes note of Jet's apparent Midwest accent. Jet says that Bortron is in the middle of their spiral arm of the galaxy, so midwest was accurate. Luckily, Mr. Peterson avoids finding out that Jet is an alien by assuming that Bortron is somewhere in Iowa.
* AllWorkVsAllPlay: The All Work to Carrot's All Play, as hinted at in "Earth Camping".
* BerserkButton:
** Sean kicking his soccer ball into his yard as implied in "Ice Moon Enceladus". Also, the TV satellite not working as revealed in "What's a Satellite?".
** Also, do not under any circumstances, force him to go shopping. He ''loathes'' shopping.
* BewareTheNiceOnes:
** He's generally friendly (although he has a slight rivalry with Carrot), but when he gets mad, he's '''scary'''. For example, his extreme rage at the beginning of "What's a Satellite?".
** This trope is also in effect in "Back to Bortron 7", where Mitchell wakes him up at 2 AM to try and expose the Propulsions, and then he gets told off for it.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The Brunette, along with Dr. Skelley, to Bergs' Blonde and Dr. Rafferty's Redhead.
* BrainyBrunet: If him being a DSA scientist means anything.
* DisproportionateRetribution: In "Ice Moon Enceladus", the kids set up a sno-cone stand in order to raise money to send astronauts to Mars. Now, an important characteristic of Sean's is that he wants to grow up to be the leader of the first human mission to Mars. Mr. Peterson comes by the kids' sno-cone stand, and Mindy informs him that buying a sno-cone will help send Sean to Mars. Mr. Peterson recognizes Sean as the kid who keeps kicking his soccer ball into his yard, and then Mr. Peterson proceeds to purchase several. In short, ''Mr. Peterson wants to send Sean to Mars just for kicking his soccer ball into his yard.''
* TheDogBitesBack: In "Back to Bortron 7". After Mitchell tries (and fails) to reveal the Propulsions' alien identities, Mr. Peterson chews him out for failing to provide evidence, and for waking him up and dragging him outside at 2:00 AM. This event happened after several episodes in which he never scolded Mitchell and always did everything for him.
* EarlyBirdCameo: He made a brief cameo in "Sunspot's Night Out", where he locks his car after it made a chirping noise. His actual debut was in the very next episode, "The Grandest Canyon".
* TheEveryman: Of the DSA scientists, he is the most average and plain. Though that's not saying much considering some of his more comical antics.
* ExtremeDoormat: He is this trope to his son Mitchell, catering to his every whim, especially in "Mindy's Weather Report". By "Back to Bortron 7", however, he grew a spine and stood up to his insolent son when the latter woke up him up at 2 AM to try and expose the Propulsions.
* {{Foil}}: To Carrot. Both are somewhat goofy fathers. Carrot embraces his silliness and is usually a nice dad, but isn't above being stern to Jet (like in "Chore Day"). Mr. Peterson, on the other hand, treats the most minor of things as SeriousBusiness (such as mini-golf and the communications satellite not working) and almost always lets Mitchell get away with stuff.
* FriendlyEnemy: To Carrot. They are usually at odds with each other (especially in "Earth Camping"), but they sometimes can be good friends.
* HiddenDepths: In "Holidays in Boxwood Terrace" he is revealed to have directed the annual Christmas pageant for ''3 years'' and was exhausted. When Jet pitches his pageant idea to him, he gladly hands over the directorial reins to Jet.
* InconsistentSpelling: Sources often spell his surname as '''Petersen'''.
* InformedAttribute: He is the town's self-appointed safety officer, yet we never see him acting as such.
* LargeHam: He has a tendency to speak very bombastically.
* LastNameBasis: He refers to everyone by their last names, including his colleagues, the children, and his own son.
* MiseryBuildsCharacter: In "Mindy's Weather Report", Mr. Peterson tried to tell Mitchell that carrying heavy sandbags will help build character. Mitchell protests that his character is already big enough, so Mr. Peterson ends up carrying his sandbags for him.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: As opposed to the huge, shiny, semi-circle eyes that most of the characters have, Mr. Peterson has tiny eyes. It makes him stick out like a sore thumb amongst the cast.
* ObsessiveSportsFan: Mr. Peterson is revealed to be a huge soccer fan in "What's a Satellite?". For once, his team has made it all the way to the championship final...only for the satellite TV service to stop working. To say he's furious is an understatement.
* OnlySaneMan: Played with. He seems to think he's this amongst the DSA scientists, but when compared to the others, he's the only ''insane'' one due to him being a LargeHam who takes everything way too seriously.
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: In "Mindy's Weather Report", he claims that he's the self-appointed safety officer of the neighborhood, and even in that episode, we don't really see him acting as such. He's also a scientist, even though we never see him working at the DSA.
* PushoverParents: He constantly puts up with Mitchell's crap and caters to his every whim. However, in "Back to Bortron 7" he ends up standing up to him for once.
* SeriousBusiness: He treats mini-golf as such as shown in "Mini-Golf at the DSA". The kids even lampshade it.
* SimilarSquad: Mindy is a direct reflection of Mr. Peterson. Both have brown hair and outfits with warm colors. They both are very self-centered and proud, but are also the oddballs in their respective groups: Mr. Peterson does not have a doctorate (hence why he's called Mr. and not Dr.), and Mindy is the youngest of the kids. Coincidentally, Mindy has a crush on Mr. Peterson's son Mitchell.
* SlobsVersusSnobs: The Snob to Carrot's Slob. Mr. Peterson is uptight and takes himself way too seriously. Carrot is more laid-back, silly, and open-minded, which results in Carrot being a much happier person than Mr. Peterson. This is best demonstrated in "Earth Camping", where they clash due to Carrot's inexperience with camping on Earth vs. Mr. Peterson's seasoned experience.
* StraightMan: Whenever he is paired with Carrot, he's the more logical of the two.
* UnnamedParent: His first name is unknown.

[[folder:Dr. Amy Skelley]]
!!Dr. Amy Skelley
[[quoteright:216:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dramyskelley.jpeg]]
-->'''Voiced by''': Brenda Crichlow (English), Andrea González (Spanish), Astrid Fernandez (Spanish; ''Space Camp'')
Dr. Skelley is Sydney's mother. She is a robotics engineer at the Deep Space Array. She makes her debut in the episode "Commander Mom". She also appears in the TV movie ''Back to Bortron 7'', albeit a brief appearance at the end. In "Commander Mom", [[spoiler: she rebuilds Jet's robot clone, Jet 2.]]
----
* AllThereInTheScript: Her first name is Amy; this was revealed in "Commander Mom"'s official PBS description, but not in the show itself. She wasn't even credited as Dr. Amy Skelley.
* AscendedExtra: She was only ever mentioned by Sydney during some episodes of season 1, and appears in the very last of said season, but season 2 gives her a lot more screentime and focus.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The Brunette along with Peterson, to Bergs' Blonde and Rafferty's Redhead.
* BlueIsCalm: Her blue color scheme helps emphasize her levelheadedness.
* BrainyBrunette: Dr. Skelley has brown hair and is a very smart scientist.
* TheCameo: Made one in "Every Day is Earth Day".
* EarlyBirdCameo: Her hand was shown tucking Sydney into bed in "Jet Can't Sleep", during the lullaby song. Her actual debut was in the season 1 finale, "Commander Mom".
* EntertainmentBelowTheirAge: Dr. Skelley likes the ShowWithinAShow ''Commander Cressida'', just like her daughter Sydney.
* FacialProfiling: She is an African-American with thick lips.
* {{Fangirl}}: She was a fan of ''Commander Cressida''. She even owns the first issue of the comics as shown in "Commander Cressida Begins".
* GadgeteerGenius: She knows all about robotics, engineering, and technology. She also holds a strong belief that robots are the future, and teaches the kids about the types of jobs robots have, like helping out at a grocery store, rescuing trapped animals during a flood, collecting comet dust samples, and exploring volcanoes on Mars. [[spoiler: She even rebuilds Jet's robot clone, Jet 2, at the end of the episode and makes him into a DoAnythingRobot.]] Now ''that'' is awesome.
* GoodParents: A smart, loving, and patient mother to Sydney.
* HiddenDepths:
** "Eye in the Sky" reveals that she was a Space Scout when she was young.
** "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!" reveals that she has a knack for gardening.
* TheKirk: She serves this role in the FreudianTrio with Bergs and Rafferty. While she, like them two, was nervous about Ellen Ochoa's visit in "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa", she was easily the most level-headed of them all and served as the middle point between the two.
* TheLeader: Dr. Skelley is the leader of the DSA scientist group consisting of herself, Dr. Rafferty, Dr. Bergs, and (if the plot calls for it) Mr. Peterson, since she is the calmest and level-headed out of all of them, and also has a clear plan of what to do next.
* TheMentor: She is this to the kids, in regards to robotics at least.
* OneSteveLimit: Amy is also the name of the scientist that hosts the show's interstitials.
* SimilarSquad: To her daughter Sydney. Sydney is the peacekeeper and pretty much the 'parent' of the team whenever they do foolish things. Dr. Skelley is easily the most level-headed of the DSA scientists, as she always offers a clear plan of what to do next, as does Sydney. What's more, they have a shared love of engineering and ''Commander Cressida'' comics.
* SmartPeopleBuildRobots: She's a robotics engineer, 'nuff said.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: In season 2, she gets a lot of screen-time, usually being the go-to scientist if the kids have a question, making Dr. Rafferty and Dr. Bergs' appearances in this season scarce. However, this isn't as bad as other examples, and at least she doesn't hog the spotlight as much as Mindy.
* TomboyishPonytail: Usually wears her hair like this, fitting her due to her being a robotics engineer.
* TrueBlueFemininity: She wears a blue shirt.

[[folder:The Unseen Parents]]
!!The Unseen Parents
There are seven parents that have not been seen in the series: Sean's father, Sydney's father, Mitchell's mother, Mindy's parents, and Lillian's parents. It is unknown if they will appear in future episodes.
----
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: All of them.
* AmbiguousSituation: The situation with Mindy's mother is a bit unclear. Apparently, her mother [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHWCT_wzmUA&t=88s as seen]] in "Jet Can't Sleep" is Dr. Rafferty and Dr. Bergs' [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/readyjetgo/images/8/89/DrMelendez.png/revision/latest?cb=20171031121907 boss]] from "My Fair Jet". However, when Mindy's mother is calling for her offscreen, she is voiced by Meg Roe and has a heavy Hispanic accent. The boss was voiced by Ashleigh Ball and has a North American accent. Mindy's mother also has a [=PhD=] as she was called 'Dr. Melendez' in "Jet's First Halloween". It is unknown if they are the same person or the animators decided to use an already existing character model for Mindy's mom.
* BrainyBrunette: Implied with Sean's father. He has brunette hair, and he's in the science field.[[note]]Sean is described as "the son of scientist''s'' and astronaut''s''". We can safely assume that he's one of these.[[/note]]
* TheCameo: Sean's father appeared in [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/readyjetgo/images/0/08/Screen_Shot_2017-08-29_at_8.13.38_PM.png/revision/latest?cb=20170830001508 a photograph]] in "Sean's Year In Space".
* GenerationXerox: As seen in the aforementioned photograph, Sean looks like a younger version of his father.
* TheGhost: You think? Mitchell's mom, Lillian's mom, and Mindy's mom have been heard. Sean's dad and Sydney's dad have been mentioned (Sydney mentions him in "Mindy's Mystery", offhandedly mentioning his aftershave). Mindy has a dad because of the dropped baby sibling arc. We don't know if Lillian has another parent.
* OverprotectiveMom: At least implied with Mindy's mom, who never let her go ''anywhere'' past Jet's yard until "Mindy Turns Five".
* PapaWolf: Downplayed with Sean's father, but in "Night of a Bazillion Stars", he insisted Sean should bring [[{{Moonburn}} moonblock]] to a sleepover.
* TheVoice: Some of them have been heard, but not seen. Mitchell's mother was heard talking to him "Mindy's Moon Bounce House". Mindy's mother can be heard calling to her in several episodes. Lillian's mom told her it was time to go to gymnastics class in "Mindy Turns Five".

Ellen Ochoa is a real-life person who is an astronaut, and the director of the Johnson Space Center. She comes to visit Boxwood Terrace in "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa" to review an engineering project.
----
* BrainyBrunette: She has brown hair, and she's also an accomplished scientist.
* TheCameo: She makes a cameo during the research montage in "Moon Face".
* DrinkBasedCharacterization: In her episode, Ellen Ochoa drinks some lemonade from the kids' lemonade stand. This gives us some insight into her character by telling us that even though she's a major scientist, she's really just a normal person and is also OneOfTheKids.
* FullNameBasis: Sean always refers to her as 'Ellen Ochoa', never just 'Ellen', out of respect.
* LovedByAll: Ellen seems to have this reputation amongst the Boxwood Terrace population. All the DSA scientists are eager to impress her, the kids take a liking to her immediately, and even Floyd the squirrel is nice to her.
* NiceGirl: Ellen is friendly, compassionate, and likes to play with the kids.
* NotQuiteStarring: Ellen doesn't voice herself. Instead, she is voiced by Kathleen Barr.
* OneOfTheKids: In her episode, Ellen hangs out with Jet, Sean, Sydney, and Mindy, and genuinely enjoys it. She even ends up playing with them.
* SpecialGuest: Ellen Ochoa, in "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa", even though she doesn't star as herself.
* TrueBlueFemininity: She wears a blue jacket.
* YouRemindMeOfX: In "Astronaut Ellen Ochoa", Ellen says that the kids remind her of herself, when she was a kid.

Two kids at space camp who were on a team with Mitchell and Stella.
----
* AesopEnforcer: Through their interactions with Stella and Mitchell, they promote the TeamSpirit aesop. They scold Mitchell and Stella for not pulling their weight, and they are thankful when Stella finally comes around to teamwork.
* ColorCodedCharacters: Houston wears [[green: green]], and Aurora wears [[gold: yellow]].
* TheDividual: They have the same personality. They both like space, believe in teamwork, and that's it.
* GirlishPigtails: Aurora wears pigtails.
* MeaningfulName: They both have space-related names. Aurora's name is for the aurora borealis, while Houston's name comes from the popular misquote "Houston, we have a problem" from the Apollo 13 mission.
* ThoseTwoGuys: "Those Two Kids." They are introduced together and are always seen together.

An astronomer and expert on alien life. She visits space camp to judge a spaceship design contest.
----
* BollywoodNerd: Her name, appearance, and accent hint that she's Indian, and she's an astronomer. She doesn't display any stereotypes associated with this trope, though.
* MeaningfulName: Her first and last names reflect how she is an astronomer. Her first name, Bina, means "knowledge," and her last name, Chandra, means "moon."
* TheXenophile: She's fascinated by space aliens, seeing as how Dr. Skelley says she's an "expert" on aliens. It's for this reason that Mitchell tries to show her evidence of Jet and Stella being aliens.
