This page contains a list of ''{{VideoGame/Puyo Puyo}}'' characters that were created by SEGA and made their debut in ''VideoGame/PuyoPuyoFever'' (''Puyo Pop Fever'' in international releases) and its sequel ''VideoGame/PuyoPuyoFever2''. The aforementioned games were originally designed to serve as a SoftReboot for the ''VideoGame/PuyoPuyo'' series, taking place in a completely new setting called Primp Town and centering around the town's [[WizardingSchool magic school]] in particular.

These characters have a notably different flavor than that of Compile's ''Puyo Puyo'' cast, forgoing the borderline parody of stock RolePlayingGame monsters in favor of a cast more fitting of the saccharine QuirkyTown that is Primp. Despite this, some characters share a couple of similarities to that of characters from Compile's run, be it personality, appearance, or abilities.

--> ''[[CharacterNarrator Hiya~! I’m Amitie!]] I go to Primp Magic School, a school in a peaceful place called “Primp Town”! My dream is to be a fantastic mage♪ I’m not really good at [[BookDumb studying]], and might be a bit of a [[TheKlutz klutz]], but if there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s being [[GenkiGirl the life of the room!]] Nice to meet’cha!''

The protagonist of the Fever series, Amitie is nice, dreams of becoming a great magician, but is a bit ditzy. Her heart is in the right place, and though she's better at reacting to things than Raffina or Sig, she still ends up jumping to wrong conclusions.
----
* AbortedDeclarationOfLove: In ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'', she attempts to tell [[spoiler:her memory of Sig]] something, but she decides not to, since [[spoiler:this Sig is just a memory to help her get stronger to reach the end of the dimensions with everyone else and she'd rather tell the real Sig whatever she wanted to say, which is implied to be this]]. The Japanese version makes it a little more ambiguous whether she actually meant to talk about her feelings or something else, since she additionally brings up her magical red Puyo hat having a reaction to Sig lately.
* ActionGirl: While not as competent as Arle, she still goes the distance to set things right.
* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: Suplementary materials often portray Amitie as having some underlying confidence issues, to the point where she needs several pep talks from her friends to keep going and not talk herself down as useless. This trait was present but downplayed in earlier games, only becoming somewhat prevalent in ''Tetris 2'', long after the novels were released. She even gets a HeroicBSOD in ''Puyo on Stage'', where Raffina cuts into her confidence so deep, she loses all semblance of her cheer until Arle and Ringo perk her back up.
* AdaptationalJerkass: In ''Puyo on Stage'' Amitie does a couple of things in her excitement over the search for the White Wishing Puyo that she would probably never do in the games, such as punching Klug in the throat for calling the legend silly (and threatening to give him the Japanese equivalent of a wedgie, too), repeatedly tickling people to get them to pay attention to her, act dismissive of anyone who even as much as suggests the Wishing Puyo might not be worth tracking down and even trying to sabotage Rulue in a Puyo match that Arle was trying to win fair and square. She never apologizes for any of this.
* AgeAppropriateAngst: Spends a lot of time in ''Sig's Secret'' agonizing over whether she's reliable enough to manage the festival project she is working on with her friends and over whether or not Sig actually likes her as a friend or just finds her annoying. The way she describes being unsure of whether the fun she has hanging out with him is actually mutual because she can't read his emotions well is very relatable, especially to people on the autism spectrum or those who grew up having a friend on said spectrum.
* AlternateSelf: Early promotional material for ''Fever'' lightly hints that she is Arle's AlternateUniverse Self. Whether the same might be true for other conspicuous Madou-Primp pairs, such as [[{{Ojou}} Rulue and Raffina]] isn't addressed.
* AsleepInClass: Her story in ''20th'' begins with her sleeping in class, her Puyo cap trying to tell her something. She wakes up and is forced into a Puyo match by Ms. Accord for sleeping, before the Puyo cap can tell Amitie anything important.
* [[BackseatDriver Backseat Gamer]]: ''Extremely'' guilty of this in Puyo matches in ''Puyo on Stage'', where Ringo outright has to tell her to shut up and let her concentrate at one point.
* BadassAdorable: Cute, sweet and powerful at Puyo battles.
* BigWhat: Her response to Ringo telling her about [[BishieSparkle Maguro's "Beauty Beam"]].
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The blonde of the "A" Trio.
* BookDumb: She's a competent magician and no one doubts she will become a great one someday, but she's always in need of supplementary classes... and it's implied she does badly even in those as well. This becomes a plot point in ''Puyo on Stage'', where her poor academic performance tempts her into taking a shortcut by using the White Wishing Puyo to increase her magic skill and power.
* ABoyAndHisX: A girl and her snow-white bird named Tama in ''Amitie and the Mysterious Egg''. She finds Tama's egg in the forest one day, and ends up raising it like her own over the course of the story. After sighting a gigantic white bird in the sky, however, she grows torn over keeping Tama, or returning it to the wild.
* CatchPhrase: Whenever introducing herself, Amitie will say [[MadLibsCatchPhrase some variation of]] her desire to be a "[synonym for great] [synonym for mage]". The variation comes from different [[{{Woolseyism}} translations]]. Ringo even lampshades it in Tetris 2.
--> '''Amitie:''' "And I'm gonna be a great magician one day!"\
'''Ringo:''' "[[OncePerEpisode There it is!]] Your signature catchphrase!"
** In the Fever Dub, she has "Get real!" and a slight variation in "Get really real!"
* CerebusRetcon: Her ending in ''15th'' has her wish to be a great magician, which the Golden Puyo Medal rejects on the ground that it thinks Amitie already is one, with Amitie considering that as a cop-out answer in a humorous parody of the classic "ItWasWithYouAllAlong". Doesn't seem so funny now as later Sega novels reveals [[HeroicSelfDeprecation she suffers from self-confidence issues]], putting herself at risk in ''Puyo on Stage'' to look for a legendary wishing Puyo [[spoiler:that doesn't even exist]] if it means being able to achieve that dream by any means necessary.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Her mind certainly flows differently.
* ColorCodedCharacters: All Primp students are designed to feature one of the five Puyo colors prominently in their designs. Amitie is the most blatant example, proudly wearing a red Puyo hat or beanie in all of her appearances.
* ContinuityNod: Her official artwork for the ''Puyo Puyo Quest'' x Videogame/ChainChronicle collab shows Amitie with Accord's cane as her weapon of choice, in reference to ''Fever'' and the infamous cane search.
* CovertPervert: Though the novel does explain that it's more of a downplayed situation (where she's more interested in the ForbiddenFruit aspect of some content even if she doesn't fully understand it), that doesn't stop her from having some... rather questionable reactions in the games themselves.
** As early as ''Fever 2'' she thinks Klug is reading an adult magazine when a risque ad is printed beside the article he was ''actually'' reading.
** In ''7'' she jumps to the conclusion Schezo wants a threesome with her and Ringo when he really wants some food. She even devolves into SymbolSwearing!
** She gets very excited when she thinks Maguro is going to show Ringo his... [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything well, "that"...]] and ends up disappointed when the "that" in question was Maguro's face.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Is the main lead in a series of SEGA ''Puyo Puyo'' novels. This actually helps her compensate for her lack of prominence as a main protagonist among her 'A' Trio peers, Arle and Ringo, both of whom have gotten far more focus as protagonists in the games ever since ''Puyo Puyo 7''.
* DemotedToExtra: [[DownplayedTrope In a sense]]. While Amitie is still very much a prominent figure in both the games and promotional material as a main protagonist (sharing said role with fellow 'A' Trio peers Arle and Ringo), she seems to have lost a bit of her relevance to the series' overarching plot once the main setting shifted to Suzuran in ''Puyo Puyo 7''. She also has more presence in the novels to make up for her lack of game screentime.
* TheDitz: Amitie is known for her occasional cluelessness, laziness and lack of common sense.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: Initially, [[MovesetClone her spells were more or less copies of Arle's]], but as the latter grew back in prominence (to the point of overshadowing Amitie herself), Amitie was gradually given a few more unique, differentiating spells of her own such as Cyclowhirl. In ''Champions'', her moveset is entirely different save for Flame.
* DubText: The Japanese version of Amitie's encounter with [[spoiler:Sig in Chapter 6 of ''Tetris'' is far more vague and leans more towards teasing something about her Puyo hat,]] while the English version turns it into a straight case of CannotSpitItOut.
* DumbBlonde: Blonde and a bit of an airhead.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: She was generally more tomboyish in ''Fever'', mostly due to SEGA creating her to be an intentional {{Expy}} of Arle. In future games, she develops more into her own character, gaining a much sweeter personality in the process.
* EasyAmnesia: Happened to her in ''7''. Ringo just had to lampshade it.
* ExpressiveAccessory: Her hat will sometimes mimic her expressions. Justified in that it might be actually alive, going by Amitie's ''20th'' story.
* {{Expy}}: Of Arle (especially as she is portrayed in ''Shin Madou''), to the point where Amitie shares Arle's signature Bayoen spell. The main difference between them is that where Arle is the [[OnlySaneMan Only Sane Girl]] (most of the time), Amitie isn't. In addition, she is usually much friendlier than Arle. Notably, SEGA flirted with the idea of some DivergentCharacterEvolution (see ThemeNaming below).
* FirstPersonPerspective: The Puyo novels are told entirely from her perspective.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: In the usual Amitie, Raffina, Sig and Klug foursome, she's the obvious Sanguine representative, being the typical lively and happy-go-lucky extrovert with great social skills.
* FreakyFridayFlip: In the story mode of ''VideoGame/PuyoPuyoQuest'', she swaps bodies with [[spoiler:a random red Puyo]] for a day, and then with [[spoiler:Seo]] for an hour.
* GenkiGirl: Almost infectiously so.
* GeniusDitz: What she lacks in general intelligence, she makes up for it with talent at Puyo.
* GodInHumanForm: While rarely referred to these days, early promotional material for ''Fever'' explained that Amitie was a goddess in a previous life, but is unable to use her original power because it is shared with an unknown other person in a parallel world. A slightly more mature alt of her named "Red Amitie" appears in ''20th'' and ''Quest'', the latter game whose leader skill is called "Goddess' Prayer". This backstory is likely a parallel from her starting out as an {{Expy}} of the previous protagonist, since Arle had a quite similar backstory in the ''Madou Monogatari'' games (which are still referenced in the Puyo Puyo series), and the fact that Amitie's "other half" has remained unnamed thus far might hint that [[AlternateSelf the two backstories were originally supposed to connect directly.]]
* GoodIsDumb: She really means well, but is very, very scatterbrained at times.
* GratuitousGreek: Her spells ''Ekrixis'' and ''Aktína'' are this, meaning "Explosion" and "Ray" respectively in Greek. As this only applies to two of her many spells, it notably makes her the only currently playable Primp student without consistent ThemeNaming to her spells, as all of Raffina's spells are in GratuitousFrench, all of Klug's are in GratuitousLatin, all of Lidelle's are in GratuitousItalian (and relate to the weather), all of Tartar's spells are in English (and relate to natural disasters), and Sig's spells all relate to the color blue.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Very kind and friendly, even more so than either Arle or Ringo.
* TheHeart: She's basically this among the 'A' Trio, being the most likely between herself, Arle, and Ringo to be kind to her adversaries.
* HiddenDepths: She can be quite perceptive of things from time to time. For instance, she's the only character that notices the similarities between Sig and the demon in Klug's book and does not think of them as a coincidence.
* IconicItem: Her red puyo hat. So much so that everybody will know you're talking about Amitie if you mention it. It's even iconic enough to be featured in ''VideoGame/PhantasyStarOnline2'' and in ''VideoGame/SonicForces''!
* IdiotHero: Easily the most dimwitted of the series' protagonists. Though Amitie means well, she's incredibly slow on the uptake, making it easy for her to get lost on the plot, or jump to the wrong conclusion.
* IllNeverTellYouWhatImTellingYou: After losing to Schezo in ''Puyo Tetris'' Act 9, she tells him that "No one's allowed to know he ran off to the ruins!" right after saying she swore herself to secrecy. Whoops.
* ImpossiblyTackyClothes: When participating in a beauty contest during ''Satan's Space Amusement Park'', Amitie is revealed to not be all too 'fashion-conscious' as her choice of clothes for the contest clash SO badly that Ringo, Draco, and Witch all end up calling her out on her fashion sense. Any wonder why Dapper Bones calls her uncool?
* InformedFlaw: As told in ''Fever 2'' and mentioned by herself in the novel ''Amitie and the Mysterious Egg'', she's not too fond of mushrooms.
* InnocentlyInsensitive:
** She makes a quip about Sig's anomalies spreading over the rest of his body in ''Sig's Secret'', which to her shock, makes him visibly uncomfortable.
** Later, in ''Tetris 2'', she tells [[HappilyAdopted Ess]] out loud that Zed "isn't her real Papa". She clearly doesn't mean any malice by it and is just curious about Ess and Zed's relationship, but the statement still drives Ess into a trauma-induced rage fit.
* InSeriesNickname:
** Lidelle calls her "Ami-san".
** In English only, Sig often calls her "Ami" as well.
* IsItSomethingYouEat: When trying to find more clues about the nature of her cap in ''20th'', the first thing that comes to her head is trying to eat it.
* JapanesePoliteness: Backfires when she perfunctorily says that she doesn't want the reward and Ms. Accord takes it literally.
* KindheartedSimpleton: Amitie is the sweetest of the three main protagonists and rarely ever gets mad at anyone, but she's also enough of an airhead to have a hard time during her magic classes.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[http://youtu.be/0meEuTzf15E Fairy Fair]] in ''15th'', and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cswxTi5JiyU "I'm Gonna Be a Great Sorceress!"]] in ''20th''.
* MagicStaff: Red Amitie wields one.
* MaybeMagicMaybeMundane:
** Everybody knows that Popoi is just a plain ol' puppet that Ms. Accord makes speak with magic, but she believes he is alive. He is. Is she TooDumbToFool, or...?
** She can discern between Klug and Possessed Klug because they wear different glasses. She's either ComicallyMissingThePoint, or...
* MeaningfulName: "Friendship" in French; [[NiceGuy she's possibly one of (if not the MOST) the friendliest characters in the entire franchise]].
* MercurysWings: In her earlier appearances and her ''Quest'' outfit, her puyo cap has little decorative white wings on the sides.
* MindControl: While it's stated that her hat protects you from most forms of this, in Drama CD 7, Track 1, "Amitie's Friend", a Living Doll (a minor enemy from the Madou Era) still manages to get some semblance of control over her mind by exploiting Amitie's emotional insecurities and manipulating her. It plans to make Amitie into a mindless host and use her vast reserves of magic power for itself - and ambition that thankfully fails thanks to Amitie's strong will and her friends stepping in in time.
* NeverBareheaded: Never seen without her signature red puyo hat, to the point of parody. Witch attempted to forcefully take it off in ''20th'', with no success. Even all of her ''Quest'' alts feature her wearing headgear.
* NiceGirl: The word "hate" doesn't seem to exist in her vocabulary. While she may call others out for some glaringly dumb moments (such as Klug's incredibly roundabout exposition in ''20th'') she doesn't even bring herself to dislike the series' assholes, no matter how much they rip into her. Also, unlike Arle and Ringo, Amitie almost never brings herself the role of a DeadpanSnarker.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween:
** The Nice one with Klug/Raffina's Mean and Sig's In-Between. In fact, it's nearly impossible to find moments where Amitie acts as anything less than a bestie to whoever she is accompanying.
** She could also be considered the Nice to Arle's Mean and Ringo's In-Between, being the one who's most likely to go along with the weirdness of the other characters and never really lashing out at anyone no matter how annoying, although the dynamic here is much more downplayed.
* NoSell: According to Schezo in the novels, her red Puyo hat protects her and those close to her from certain kinds of malicious magic. For example, [[spoiler: it prevented the Mist of Dreams from possessing and trapping her, as well as Ringo or Arle (as they were standing close to her at time) in a LotusEaterMachine]]. Amitie herself seems unaware of that property of her hat.
* ParasolOfPrettiness: Carries one as Stylish Amitie in ''Puyo Quest''.
* PickyEater: Especially compared to Arle (who has BizarreTasteInFood) and Ringo (who is all about health foods), Amitie is a lot pickier, refusing to eat things that look "weird" and outright turning her nose up at mushroom, her least favorite food. Her favorite food appears to be ice cream parfait, shown a couple of times in the novels.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: The Pink Girl to Sig's Blue Boy, being the red Puyo representative of the students on top of often wearing pink.
* PinkHeroine: She fills this slot in the A-Trio, with Arle being the blue heroine and Ringo being the red heroine despite Amitie wearing red too. Her outfits since ''20th'' favor pink, and she's associated with pink in most of her merchandise. She even gets Cure Dream's outfit in ''Puyo Quest'', who is the Pink Heroine of ''Anime/YesPrettyCure5''.
* PowerGivesYouWings: As she evolves in ''Puyo Quest'', she gets decorated with wings as displayed in her art for [[http://i.imgur.com/2LoLmck.png 4-star]], [[http://i.imgur.com/N1QHkUe.png 5-star]], and higher rarities.
* PrimaryColorChampion: All of Amitie's ensemble is some variety of red/pink, blue and yellow. The sole exception is a green bracelet.
* PuppeteerParasite: An official ''4-koma'' has Ringo finding out that "Amitie" is actually the Puyo hat, with the main body being just a human puppet. [[spoiler:Thankfully, it was AllJustADream]].
* {{Retcon}}: In the novel ''Amitie and the Girl of Love'', she doesn't know what amnesia is (she suffered from it in ''7''), and comments on how she'd feel if she forgot her friends.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: The energy to Sig's savviness.
* ShipTease: As subtle as it may be, Amitie has gotten quite a bit of this with Sig ever since the latter's introduction.
** In ''Fever 2'', if the player happens to encounter the both of them simultaneously in one of the menu conversations, they discuss wanting the other to give them the Memory of Chu. Sig flat-out says "Can I pretend I didn't hear that?" when Amitie asks if he can give it to her as a gift when she becomes the best magician she can be.
** Sig becomes oddly concerned about Amitie's well-being in her story in ''15th Anniversary'', wondering if her hands are hard like his and asking if he can take a look at them.
** They both tag along to help each other in their ''20th Anniversary'' scenarios.
** In the English version of ''Puyo Tetris'', Amitie herself even vaguely hints at her feelings for him, via [[AbortedDeclarationOfLove her conversation with her memory of him]].
** In ''Chronicle'', Amitie gets suspiciously alarmed when [[InLoveWithLove Ally]] declares that she 'loves' Sig (It should be noted that Ally's definition of love is... ''very'' broad, to say the least). She's only relieved after Ally clarifies that she's not IN love with Sig, but rather admires his love of bugs.
** In ''Amitie and the Girl of Love'', Amitie unconsciously comments on Sig's "beautiful" eyes and "pretty" hair, and even gets quite flustered when Sig himself begins to wonder out loud if he truly is in love with Amitie.
* SignatureHeadgear: Her puyo cap, which makes her instantly recognizable.
* SignatureMove: Fairy Fire (Fairy Fair/Fare) is in all of Amitie's appearances, usually being her penultimate attack. [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness Except Fever 1, where it was her strongest attack over Bayoen]].
* SignificantBirthDate: May 5, Children's Day. It represents her childlike demeanor, and her cheerful and friendly personality.
* {{Squee}}: Has one moment when she drops in on Ringo and Maguro talking about the "you-know-whats". She shortly becomes disappointed when she finds out what the "you-know-whats" are, though.
* StepfordSmiler: Taking into account her depictions in the novels, behind her pep is a layer of confidence issues that make her question her dream on multiple occasions. Considering how poorly she performs academically, it's understandable she could think becoming a wonderful magician is out of her reach at times.
* ThemeNaming: Shares the FireIceLightning theme with Arle, through Flame, Blizzard, Lightning Bolt, and ''Fairy Fair'', a PillarOfLight attack, mirrors Arle's Heaven Ray. Amitie eventually traded out Blizzard for ''Blast Beat'' in ''15th Anniversary'', and then ''[[BlowYouAway Cyclowhirl]]'' in ''20th Anniversary''. She also swapped out Lightning Bolt for Ekrixis in ''Fever 2'', and then Aktína in ''20th''.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Tomboy to Raffina's Girly Girl, mostly in her initial debut.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak:
** Even if her general attitude is somewhat boyish, she certainly has more feminine qualities compared to someone like Arle. For example, she usually wears clothes decked out with hearts and her overall clothing style primarily contains rather bright colors.
** In ''Chronicle'', she admits to Draco that she's always been fascinated by beauty pageants and would like to compete in one some day.
* TotallyRadical: Some of her dialogue in the English version of especially Fever. Some of it carried on into the 2017-onwards run of dubbing, though it's downplayed now. This is actually rooted in the Japanese version, where she also uses quite a bit of outdated 90s slang, such as "バッチグー" ("Just right!").
* TrrrillingRrrs: Her alternate voice in the English version of ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'' has her speaking in a British accent and rolling her R's, a reference to a section of the game's story mode where she and Ess [[ItMakesSenseInContext speak in British accents for a battle]]. After the battle is over, Amitie suggests they should roll their R's next time.
* UnwantedAssistance: Both at the giving and receiving end of this at seperate instances in ''Puyo Puyo on Stage'':
** Gives it to Ringo in a battle versus Schezo
** Gets it from Klug in a battle versus Raffina.
* UtilityPartyMember: In ''Quest'', Red Amitie, having the exact same skills as Dark Sig, makes multiple color decks viable thanks to her HP and Attack boosting Leader Skills and powerful Attack boosting active skill (which stacks with her Leader Skill), resulting in her teammates becoming very powerful ''and'' difficult to take down.
* ValleyGirl: In the ''Fever'' English dub, complementing her gratuitous usage of TotallyRadical. This is a bit ironic considering her rival Raffina is closer to this trope in terms of wealth and fashion-consciousness.
* VSign: Her VictoryPose of choice.
* WeReallyDoCare / IKnowYouAreInThereSomewhereFight: Tells Sig about how much she and their others friends in school love him in order to [[spoiler: snap him out of being controlled by his demonic heritage]] in ''Sig's Secret''. She's proven right a little later when it turns out Sig's absence the previous day had Klug and Raffina worried enough about him to work together on a uniform for him for their festival project as a present.
* WeWantOurJerkBack: In ''Tetris'', she expresses joy at when Raffina is freed from her brainwashing and returned to "her usual meanness levels".
* WhatTheHellHero: In Chapter 7 of ''Tetris'', she calls Ess out on her lack of compassion for [[spoiler:Ex]] and the loneliness that he suffered as the Keeper of Dimensions.
* WishUponAShootingStar: She has an alt in ''Puyo Puyo!! Quest'' known as Wishing Star Amitie who is based around this as a motif, wearing night sky-themed clothing and carrying a bag of stars with her. Additionally, the alt's Leader Skill is called "I Wish Upon a Shooting Star".
* YouShallNotPass: To Schezo in chapter 9 of ''Puyo Tetris'', in the second DLC chapter. She tries to protect Sig, but her attempt backfires spectacularly when she loses and [[IllNeverTellYouWhatImTellingYou accidentally tells Schezo where Sig went.]]

Raffina is the local rich girl of the town. She is a narcissistic girl who is known for looking down on the locals as "commoners", with a weak tolerance for anyone who gets in the way of her often selfish goals. Unlike the other Primp School students, she lacks magical abilities, but she tries to make up for it with her strong kicks.
----
* AcademicAthlete: Taking into account Dilligent Raffina's flavor text, Raffina takes her studies seriously and is implied to do pretty well in school. She's also the most physically fit of the class.
* ActionGirl: Even more than Amitie.
* AllAmazonsWantHercules: In her dream in ''Everyone's Dreams Coming True!?'', Raffina rejects two attractive men because she delivered a CurbStompBattle to both, implying she wishes to marry someone who can keep up with her in a fight.
* AlphaBitch: Very much so. Even with some mellowing out over the years, she retains a mean streak.
** AcademicAlphaBitch: As implied by [[https://puyonexus.com/mediawiki/images/d/d0/Img404405_l.png Diligent Raffina]] in ''Puyo Quest''. Someone like Klug wouldn't consider her a rival without a good reason.
* AmazonianBeauty: ZigZagged in that while [[OnlySixFaces the artstyle]] doesn't show it, she is considered very muscular in-universe, and several characters (herself included) consider her beautiful. Specifically Amitie, Klug and Rulue often comment on Raffina's alleged bulk. She also has a self-professed obsession with body building to the point that she almost exclusively eats protein-heavy foods, as revealed in ''Amitie and the Mysterious Egg''.
* AmplifierArtifact: Her pouch is outright called this in promotional material for ''Fever 1''.
* AmuletOfConcentratedAwesome: Her pouch, which allows her to circumvent the [[MuggleBornOfMages birth defect]] that prevents her from using magic by letting her cast FullContactMagic.
* AntiHero: She saves the day once in a while? She does. Heroic disposition? ''Nope.''
* TheArtifact: Her status as Amitie's rival has grown to become this, since every game after ''Fever'' shifted the focus to her rivalry with Klug instead.
* TheBeautifulElite: Not only is she fairly attractive, but she also owns quite the vast fortune.
* BadassNormal: Raffina's magical abilities are very weak in comparison to the rest of the cast. She compensates for this by using her magical pouch artifact to convert her formidable martial arts techniques into offensive magic power. She can still kick you seven ways to next week even without it, seeing as she is still a trained martial artist.
** Raffina is also shown to be capable enough to go toe-to-toe with Rulue in ''20th Anniversary'', who is a stronger and more accomplished martial artist than her.
* BigEgoHiddenDepths:
** Refined and prideful as she is, her story in ''20th'' shows she's a little self-conscious of her magic power, running off when Lemres points out her waist pouch is her main power source. She was left a near-stuttering mess once he pointed it out.
** According to ''Everyone's Dreams, Coming True?!'', as much as she mocks and argues with Klug, she actually considers him her voice of reason, who reigns in her pride and prevents her from taking things for granted through his scathing comments.
* BirdsOfAFeather: With fellow elegant martial artist Rulue. Though the meeting in ''20th'' was brief, she felt a strong kinship with her when she only barely got to know her. Whenever Rulue and Raffina are seen together in later games, such as ''Chronicle'' or ''Tetris 2'', they accordingly act like best friends, sharing a sort of sisterly bond.
* BitchAlert: The most noticeable thing she's ever done is say "[[PrecisionFStrike Damn!]] If it isn't Mr. Goody Two Shoes[[note]]Klug[[/note]]". In an '''E-Rated''' Game. [[note]]And this game was released before ''Shadow the Hedgehog'', by the way.[[/note]]
* BitingTheHandkerchief: Should she be defeated in a Puyo match.
* TheBully: Threatens to kick Donguri Gaeru if he loses to her in a Puyo Battle in the former's story in ''20th''.
* CherryBlossomGirl: As Sakura Raffina in ''Puyo Quest''.
* ColorCodedCharacters: All Primp students are designed to feature one of the five Puyo colors prominently in their designs, though Raffina is by far the least obvious example, being more visibly clad in orange instead. With that said she does have a decent amount of yellow in her design and is also a yellow card in ''Quest''.
* DamselOutOfDistress: She finds herself captured and placed in Dr. Eggman's magic extraction facility, during the ''Puyo Puyo'' collab event in Videogame/SonicRunners, but breaks herself out [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold and even takes Sig along for the escape, before the same could happen to him.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: Downplayed in recent installments due to Flanderization.
* DemotedToExtra: Among Primp's [=ARS=] trio, she was hit the hardest with this. Once one of the main protagonists of the ''Fever'' games, she lost a lot of her relevance once the series shifted to Suzuran and her rivalry with Amitie had all but nearly disappeared. Meanwhile, Amitie managed to retain her protagonism alongside Arle and Ringo, while Sig remains prominent enough in marketing and other official media, even if not so much in the games proper. It comes to the point that Raffina is often put at the same level as Klug, a supporting character from the start, in terms of importance.
* DubNameChange: Not her name, but her spells in the English version of ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'', where all foreign attack names were changed to English names.
* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: She used to have pointed, elf-like shoes in ''Fever''.
* {{Expy}}: Of Rulue as an [[{{Ojou}} incredibly wealthy]] martial artist among magic users, though with her {{Jerkass}} traits up to eleven. Unsurprisingly, they get along well when they encounter each other in ''20th''.
* {{Foil}}: To Amitie and Klug:
** Amitie's nice and friendly, Raffina's mean and rude. Both work to be strong magicians, but the former struggles in school despite having plenty of magic power, whereas Raffina has little of said power, but compensates for it by actually being a competent and hardworking student. She's also the trendiest girl in Primp, while Amitie is known for her horrible fashion sense, to the point Dapper Bones' opinion on both girls are at different extremes.
** Klug and Raffina are unpleasant, egocentric jerks for the most part, and both seek fame and attention, but Raffina's aforementioned lack of magical power coupled with her martial arts knowledge contrasts Klug's meekness, yet magical talent and expertise. They also bring to mind the stereotypical imagery of the AlphaBitch and her nerd prey. Naturally, they're always butting heads.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: In the usual Amitie, Raffina, Sig and Klug foursome, she's a dead on example of a Choleric; hot-tempered and condescending towards others, but also a confident and determined hardworker.
* FullContactMagic: It's almost mandatory for her to do this, since her magic is far too weak to use alone.
* GirlyBruiser: Prim, proper, strives for beauty, yet she's the most physically fit of the class. Her chaining power is one of the strongest in the series.
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: As feminine as she tries to present herself, she's a practitioner of not-so-ladylike martial arts and has moments of slipping into rather crass speech. In Japanese, she attempts to cover it up by ending her sentences with the feminine "desu wa".
* GratuitousFrench: Some of her spells and commonly-used phrases are in French.
* GreenEyedMonster: She envies Amitie for her magical potential.
* HeKnowsTooMuch: [[spoiler:She got to the castle faster than Accord predicted and found out the lost cane story was a load of baloney. She does her job of beating Popoi to reclaim the flying cane, and her "reward" was a mallet-induced memory wipe.]]
* IdiotHair: Not that she's anywhere close to being an idiot, though...
* IrrationalHatred: She mocks nearly everyone she comes across. Defied by her relationship with Klug, where he [[AssholeVictim very much deserves it.]]
* ITakeOffenseToThatLastOne: Possessed Klug has revealed that he [[VillainBall broke the item she needed and possessed Klug.]] How does she react? "ThisIsUnforgivable that you broke my chance of beauty!" [[spoiler:Turns out you ''need'' to break the stone to release its power.]]
* JerkassHasAPoint: In ''Puyo on Stage'', when she puts a stop to Amitie's obsession with the White Wishing Puyo, by harshly pointing out that using it to fulfill Amitie's dream of becoming a "Wonderful Magician" would make her nothing but an impostor with a meaningless title.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: For all her faults, Raffina is guaranteed to have at least a few scenes that highlight she's not the terrible person others think she is.
* KickChick: Downplayed. She is very proud of her legwork, but has plenty of fist attacks.
* KungFuWizard: Her fighting style mixes physical attacks with magical power. Subverted in that the magic doesn't come from her own ability, but rather her pouch.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: [[spoiler:One smack on the head later and she remembers nothing about her little search for the flying cane.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://youtu.be/2ndiKeufAHc More Beauty, More Strength!]]"
** For ''20th'', she has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=houwkYnq3OQ Elegance, Grace, and Power!"]]
* MagicallyIneptFighter: In contrast to fellow martial artist Rulue, Raffina bears some potential for magic, but she needs to have her pouch to do any sort of spellcasting whatsoever. It's uncertain how weak her magic is without it, but she's quick to turn tail when Lemres questioned her methods, making her weak magical power something of a sore spot for her.
* MagicSkirt: None of her kicks seem to flip her skirt up. Seems to be averted in recent titles, where she has to hold it down in her damage animations. She now kicks much lower too.
* MeaningfulName: French for "refined", and ''boy'' does she act like it.
* {{Narcissist}}: Her story lines in ''Fever 2'' and ''15th'' could be summarized as "Beauty Quest 1" and "2". The former having her chase down the Moon Stone for its cosmetic magic [[spoiler:which Lemres confesses is only temporary]], and the latter going after the wishing medal for more beauty [[spoiler:which is far too nebulous of a wish for the medal to even grant.]]
* MuggleBornOfMages: She is the only one in her family who was born without any magical ability, which is a sore point to her, and one of the many reasons why she quickly bonds with [[BirdsOfAFeather Rulue]].
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: She and Klug can both be considered the mean ones to Amitie's 'Nice' and Sig's 'In-Between'. In comparison to Klug herself, she's a nicer brand of Mean due to being a bit more aware of her own limitations and insecurities, meaning her heart of gold is likelier to show up in the right moment.
* NoblewomansLaugh: "Oh hohoho!" Done when she enters Fever, and of course any time she laughs in general. In ''VideoGame/PuyoPuyoTetris2'', Amitie even lampshades it with the line "Raffina, you're such a hard worker, and you're always going ''Ohohohoho!''" However, this was translated as "Oh la-ti-da!" in the English version of ''Puyo Puyo Fever'', making it a unique SignatureLaugh.
* NoSenseOfDirection: In ''Fever'', it's implied she has this, as she ended up back to the school building after setting off on a search for Ms. Accord's flying cane but wonders aloud how that even happened. [[spoiler:This is what probably helped her reach the castle even faster than anyone else, dumbfounding Accord herself.]]
* OddFriendship: Surprisingly, despite their radically different personalities, she shares one with Sig. He still sometimes has to endure her outbursts himself, but Raffina is generally shown to be on good terms with him, which is strongly highlighted in her more amiable then usual win quotes in ''7'', if Sig loses to her in story mode. ''Sig's Secret'' also has her and Klug give Sig a rather sweet PetTheDog moment in the final chapter, cementing this trope.
* {{Ojou}}: Wealthy, prideful and ladylike (well, most of the time).
* PainToTheAss: Comes up in enough places to border on being a minor RunningGag:
** She has been on the receiving end of this in all of her damage animations, starting with ''15th'', it also serves as her Top Screen icon in the DS and 3DS games, if she is close to losing.
*** The heavy damage variation in all games but ''Tetris'' combines it with PainPoweredLeap. This is most apparent with her fully animated 3D model in ''Chronicle'', which shows Raffina making a impressive leap, after getting her butt blasted by a magic projectile.
** Zoh Daimoh makes a direct reference to said damage animation in ''15th'', when he threatens Raffina with a LiteralAssKicking.
** Even the Pachislot get's in on this, with one event screen showing everyone doing a happy pose or one of their spell poses... except for Raffina, who instead does her damage pose.
** An even earlier example occurs in ''Fever'', where Raffina gets poked in the butt by Onion Pixie's spiky club.
* PetTheDog: She is genuinely apologetic towards Lidelle, once freed from Marle's corruption in ''Tetris 2'', [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold even if she tries to hide that care for her classmate not much later]].
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: The pink to Sig's blue, although you'd be forgiven for missing it considering Raffina wears copious amounts of orange and yellow as she represents the yellow Puyo.
* TheRival: To Amitie, though ''Fever'' is the only game where it's really present, with later games preferring to focus on her rivalry with Klug instead.
* RoseHairedSweetie: Subverted, and '''how.''' She's got the hair and the girliness, but she is far from being sweet.
* SailorFuku: Has the silhouette of one. ''Fever 2'' is a very textbook example, while her current ensemble from ''20th'' onward has a more stylized take on it. Her orange cardigan has the sailor's collar and tie, with the ''Puyo Tetris'' version adding cuffs to it.
* SecondaryColorNemesis: Since she's Amitie's rival, she gets to employ lots of orange and purple in her design, even some green too going by her earrings.
* SignatureMove: Ciel Arc(localized in most English versions to Rainbow Deluxe), the only spell of hers that has appeared in every game, and except for Quest, is her strongest attack in all of them.
* SkewedPriorities: What makes her turn down Yu's offer to become a ghost in ''20th'' is not the fact that she would die, but rather that she would lose her legs.
* SleepyHead: Her ''Puyo Tetris'' Japanese DLC voice consists of incredibly drowsy attacks, as well as yawning while under attack.
* SophisticatedAsHell: Refined to a T, and has the highest swear count out of any other character in the series. In the Japanese version, she often tries to pull a LastSecondWordSwap when she swears by adding the polite "desu-wa!" to the end of her sentences (usually with a two-seconds-delay).
* SoreLoser: Demands an apology when losing in ''Puyo Tetris''.
* InconsistentSpelling: ''Puyo Puyo Fever'' initially spelled her name as "Raffine", before ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'' finally changed it to "Raffina" to better match up with the Japanese katakana spelling of her name. It's likely that Sega ([[MeaningfulName perhaps]] [[{{Woolseyism}} intentionally]]) got it wrong back in ''Fever''.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: GratuitousFrench, at least in Japanese.
** Her first and third magics in ''Fever'' revolve around [[AnIcePerson ice]] (Grêle, hail; and Avalanche), while ''Fever 2'' makes it [[MakingASplash rain]] (Averse, shower), and [[ShockAndAwe thunder]] (Orage, thunderstorm).
** Her second and fourth magics are [[PlayingWithFire fire]]/[[ThePowerOfTheSun sun]]-based (Étincelle, spark; Feu d'Artifice, fireworks; and Rage Soleil, raging sun, in ''15th'').
** And her ultimate magic is the YinYangBomb of the two: [[EverythingsBetterWithRainbows Ciel Arc]], meaning rainbow.
* StrongGirlSmartGuy: With Klug, who is sorta her rival.
* ThoseTwoGuys: The Amitie-starring novels tend to have her and Klug both play this role for a good chunk of their screentime. This may be a result of the stories focusing more on Amitie, her 'A' Trio friends and occasionally Sig.
* TokenRichStudent: She comes from the wealthiest family in Primp, but still attends the same magic school with the "commoners" she looks down upon.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Girly Girl to Amitie's sort-of-Tomboy, although Raffina herself occasionally exhibits tomboyish qualities from time to time.
* TookALevelInKindness: It's very subtle, especially considering how she still has the occasional [[{{Jerkass}} jerkass]] moment, but Raffina appears to have mellowed out somewhat following ''Fever 2''. It becomes noticeable in ''Tetris 2'', where she apologizes to Lidelle for [[spoiler:attacking her in a corruption-induced frenzy]], openly praises others for their achievements and even quickly agrees to work together with Klug when the two of them find common ground.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Dogs, contrary to her profile stating she has no dislikes in particular. She's noticeably fearful in Baldander's presence when the rest of the magic school behaves just fine in contrast.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: With Klug. They're usually seen together, but, due to their massive egos, their interactions rarely deviate from them [[https://youtu.be/EJNxdr4B0ps both trying to exert their superiority over the other]].

Sig is everything but emotional. He's very quiet and isn't moved by anything at all, save for bugs. He's a very easygoing boy that doesn't mind that he's part demon. [[spoiler:In reality, he's the other half of a demon that is currently residing in Klug's book. This part of the demon's soul was split off when it was sealed away in the book, which in turn created Sig's first ancestor. This is why Possessed Klug was determined to take down Sig in particular, and seemingly why Sig has such odd behavior and powers.]]
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: Tends to misname Raffina as "Wuffina"/"Rahena", or when corrected, "Waffina". In the English dub of ''Tetris 2'', he scrambles it into "Ragamuffin".
* AdaptationalVillainy: While it isn't confirmed that the alternate personality that appears in ''Sig's Secret'' was supposed to be his Black Sig/Dark Sig-form, as both forms are described as having darker hair a lot of fans assume they were supposed to be the same, which would make it a case of this: While in ''20th'', Dark Sig was a darkness-themed PaletteSwap of Sig with a more emotional demeanor, the alternate personality in ''Sig's Secret'', is cold-hearted, violent and power-hungry to the point where Sig's actual personality is FightingFromTheInside.
* AmbidextrousSprite: Because of his red arm and eye, Sig is among the few characters in the series that require two sets of sprites to reflect their asymmetrical aspects.
* AsleepInClass: One of Ms. Accord's victory quotes in ''15th'' reveals that he has fallen asleep in class before. Not surprising, since he's already a known {{Sleepyhead}} in general.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Whenever he spots a bug.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: Yes, he has demonic powers, but he has no evil intentions at all.
* BadassAdorable: A very placid and absent-minded boy, who for the most part, is only ever concerned about bugs and his friends. He's also a part-demon, with a lot of untapped power and has handily defeated his other half and EvilCounterpart, while being completely oblivious to the seriousness of the situation at hand.
* BattleButler: Fills this role while helping out Ocean Prince, in ''Fever 2''.
* BeetleManiac: In official art for ''15th'' and ''7'', he has a beetle on his head. For ''20th Anniversary'' and ''Tetris 2'', his shirt has a beetle on it.
* BerserkButton: Hurting bugs in general quickly sours his mood. Attacking his favorite ladybug, however, causes him to go into a ''blind fury''.
* BigEater: Lightly implied. Food is among the things that [[FoodAsBribe Ocean Prince offers to Sig, in exchange for his assistance]] and several of his post-match quotes in ''15th's'' story mode, have him express hunger.
* BlessedWithSuck: While Sig's demonic ancestry gives him a list of traits other characters find very desirable, such as excessive physical and magical power, he personally finds it bothersome at best. It also has caused Schezo to attack him at least twice, and he generally acts uncomfortable when people stare at or ask about his demonic left arm. Sig frequently states that, while he can ignore his arm most of the time, he would not mind finding a permanent cure for it.
* BlueIsCalm: Sig has blue hair and is often seen wearing prominently blue clothing. He's far more calm and stoic compared to his fellow classmates Amitie and Raffina.
* BookDumb: Surprisingly ZigZagged. Flavor text for his Diligent Sig alt mentions that he has difficulties with studying, but can absorb information about bugs like a sponge and, as noted under HiddenDepths, Sig can actually prove himself to be quite bright when he puts his mind into something.
* BugCatching: His greatest passion.
* CarryABigStick: Artwork for the ''Puyo Puyo Quest'' x Videogame/ChainChronicle collab that shows Sig in the visual style of the latter game, assigns him a stick almost as big as his body as his weapon of choice.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Though not as out there as Amitie, he is a little slow sometimes and gets distracted quite easily. One of his encounters with Arle in ''Puyo Puyo! The Medal Edition'' reveals that he also somehow mistook Carbuncle for a bug, until she corrected him on that one.
* CluelessChickMagnet: Believe it or not, Sig actually has garnered quite a number of admirers, whether it be out of genuine admiration for him or more... shallow-minded reasons. This includes (but is not limited to) [[{{Ojou}} Rulue]], [[ElegantGothicLolita Feli]], and even [[AlphaBitch Raffina]] of all people. It should be noted that the former two are both well-known for their infatuation with the likes of [[SingleTargetSexuality the Dark Prince and Lemres]] respectively, while Raffina has some... [[BestHerToBedHer pretty interesting standards]] [[AllAmazonsWantHercules as to what she wants in a man]].
** Amitie is [[CannotSpitItOut all but outright said to have (romantic) feelings for him]].
** Arle [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny finds his hair antennae mesmerizing.]]
** Ringo thinks he [[SmellsSexy smells nice.]]
** Rulue finds him [[TheCutie adorable]] ''and'' [[{{Hunk}} believes he could grow up to be quite the hunk.]]
** Raffina considers his red demon arm to be a fashion statement. [[MusclesAreMeaningful In fact, she even believed it was a result of Sig working out too much.]]
** Just like Arle, Lidelle [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny finds his hair antennae mesmerizing.]]
** Similar to Raffina, Feli considers his red demon arm to be a fashion statement.
** Oniko [[InterSpeciesRomance outright fell in love with him]], much to Onion Pixie's chagrin.
** Witch (begrudgingly) admired his tenacity to protect his pet ladybug.
** Jaan considers his red arm “totally cool”.
** Honey Bee finds him somewhat handsome and after he (unintentionally) rescued her from Kodomo Dragon, she declares herself his most devout follower.
** Ally is more than a little enamored with Sig's passion for bugs.
* ColorCodedCharacters: All Primp students are designed to feature one of the five Puyo colors prominently in their designs. Sig took over as the blue student of the class once Tartar got PutOnABus, to the point where even his spells are themed after it.
* TheComicallySerious: Because of his very placid personality, even the most bizarre situations he's in will only invoke DullSurprise at best. This is even reflected in his animations in ''Fever 2'', where both of his damage animations depict him getting pelted with rocks and ''not even flinching''.
* CompositeCharacter: He is a bug catcher like Kodomo Dragon and is the male protagonist of his ARS trio like Schezo. He also has quite a bit in common with Arle, both are protagonists that are heavily associated with the color blue (which is even acknowledged in ''15th''), both are stuck in love triangles that they want nothing to do with and most strikingly, they both have a EvilCounterpart clad in red.
* ContinuityNod:
** His Deka form from ''7'' makes a brief appearance in the second SEGA novel.
** The Ecstatic Sig alt in ''Quest'' is full of these. It's not only a return of his original outfit, but the artworks for it reference his victory pose from ''15th'' and ''7'' and a ''Fever 2'' wallpaper respectively.
* CreepyMonotone: As part of his stoic demeanor.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Dark Sig is no more malicious than normal Sig.
* ADayInTheLimelight:
** While still a major character even after his run as a main protagonist ended, Sig returns to a level of prominence not seen since the ''Fever'' era in ''Quest''. He is heavily featured in promotional materials, shares a comfortable lead in alt. cards above the rest of the cast with Arle, Ringo and Amitie and has appeared alongside them and Carbuncle as a regular in the game's collabs with fellow mobile titles ''Pashamon'', ''Kotodaman'' and VideoGame/ChainChronicle, as one of only 5 ''Puyo Puyo'' characters to appear in every collab so far.
** After spending most of the main story on the sidelines, Sig get's to be the HeroAntagonist in Chapter 9 of ''Tetris'', which explores Schezo's interest in his demon arm, which was previously established in ''15th''.
** ''Sig's Secret'' is one for him within the novel series.
* DeadpanSnarker: Gives off this vibe in the English version of ''Tetris'', when his CreepyMonotone comes off as sass.
--> '''Sig:''' (in a monotone) *Crowd-gone-wild-cheer*
* DeathOfPersonality: This almost happens to him in ''Sig's Secret''. Amitie calls him back to reality in the nick of time.
* DemotedToExtra: As mentioned above, he ''used'' to be a main protagonist, until his run as one ended with ''Puyo Puyo 7'' deciding to change up settings. Sig plays minor roles in both ''7'', ''Tetris'' and ''Chronicle'', getting dialogue in all those games, but having minimal importance to the plot. With that said, he is heavily featured in ''Quest'' and is the HeroAntagonist of one of ''Puyo Puyo Tetris''' DLC chapters, along with having bonus content like his Dark Sig alt in ''20th'' and a good amount of love in non-game materials, so he still has it much better than Raffina.
** This trope has been averted in Lemres' side-story for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2's third chapter, as he is back to playing a main role in the game's story (alongside Klug).
* DependingOnTheWriter:
** His attitude in regards to bugs getting eaten can vary a lot between games. His encounters with Donguri Gaeru in ''15th'' and Kodomo Dragon in ''Quest'' show that while he's clearly uncomfortable with the thought of bugs as foods, he is still able to remain calm and even offer alternatives, while ''20th'' and ''Chronicle'' have him get outright furious at the mere suggestion of eating bugs.
** ''15th'' and ''Sig's Secret'' strongly indicate that Sig may think more of his anomalies then he let's on, would gladly be normal again if he had the chance and finds the thought of them getting worse very uncomfortable. ''20th'' goes the complete opposite route and portrays Sig as genuinely only concerned with how his red arm affects his ability to catch bugs. This becomes confusing when you realize that ''20th'' and ''Sig's Secret'' had the same writer. A possible explanation is that his claim that he was satisfied with just using his other hand to catch bugs in ''20th'' was just him giving up on the search for a cure once again (as he'd previously done in ''Fever 2'' and ''15th'') because he'd gotten tired of the lack of success.
* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: His left arm is often stated to have gained considerable physical strength ever since mutating, and in ''20th'' he talks about not wanting to use it to catch bugs, presumable out of fear of accidentally hurting them. [[https://twitter.com/PinkGeekNeni/status/1402979954900422667 Inofficial art by the games' current scenario writer also shows him almost crushing Klug's shoulder on accident while trying to ask him a question, the tweet said art is attached to stating that this is a regular occurence.]]
* DrearyHalfLiddedEyes: Since Sig is typically calm, stoic, and slow, he always has his eyes drawn with half-lids.
* DualityMotif: Only physically. His hair and one of his eyes is blue, while his left eye and arm are red, as he [[OurDemonsAreDifferent has demonic ancestry]].
* DubNameChange: The localized release of ''Champions'' changes Black Sig to Dark Sig.
* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: Downplayed. In ''Fever 2'', [[https://puyonexus.com/wiki/File:SIG_WIN.png Sig's blue spirit bore a closer resemblance to the demon in Klug's book]], even having arms to wave with. Every game starting with ''15th'' would depict the spirit as a simple blob without any appendages instead, now looking more like Klug's spirit whenever the demon takes control over his body.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: His obsession with bugs is not brought up in the main story in ''Fever 2'' and only plays a role in field-conversations with Rei and Amitie, which also show him willing to compromise on his hobby in order to help them out.
* ExpressiveAccessory: Sig's spirit is shown to emote alongside him in Chapter 9 of ''Puyo Puyo Tetris''.
* EyeColourChange: His original eye color was blue, but one of his eyes became permanently red when his left arm mutated into its current, demonic form. Additionally, his remaining blue eye has turned red in two separate instances: In ''Fever 2'' when he [[spoiler:was close to Possessed Klug]] and in ''Sig's Secret'', when he [[spoiler:lost control of his powers.]]
* FestivalEpisode: His ''Sig's Festival Tour'' Story Quest is very much this. He even has a Yukata alt to go along with it.
* FightingFromTheInside: [[spoiler:Manages to fight back against his demon side during the climax of ''Sig's Secret'', giving Amitie time to dump the potion needed to bring him back to normal over his head.]]
* FlatJoy:
** In the AudioAdaptation and novels, he has a very flat, fake-sounding laugh. Amitie is so used to hearing it that she knows he's sincere when he laughs like that, even though to the audience it sounds like he's being a DeadpanSnarker.
** He cheers himself up when challenging Raffina in Chapter 4 in ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'', in a way reminiscent of WesternAnimation/{{Droopy}}. Blatantly PlayedForLaughs through {{Unsound Effect}}s:
---> '''Sig:''' *Crowd-gone-wild-cheer*
* {{Foil}}: To Kodomo Dragon, both like to catch bugs, but unlike Kodomo Dragon Sig doesn't eat them and is greatly opposed to doing so. This is highlighted when the two meet in ''Quest''.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: In the usual Amitie, Raffina, Sig and Klug foursome, he's a definite Phlegmatic, being kind, laid-back and empathetic towards his friends and all bug life, yet also hard to motivate.
* FreakyIsCool: It's a common theme for others to react to Sig's anomalies in a surprisingly positive way. The most notable examples are Oniko falling in love with him over his twitching HairAntennae and Jaan admiring Sig's red arm to the point of aspiring to turn one of her own arms red as well.
* FreakinessShame:
** PlayedWith in his ''20th'' story mode. After realizing he cannot catch bugs with his left hand, he begins to search for a way to turn it into something like his right hand, despite facing objections from the likes of Amitie, Feli, Raffina (because they found his red hand nice for different reasons), or Lidelle (because she thought there was a stronger reason to dislike the hand), and even nearly discovering his origins with Klug's help ([[DumbassHasAPoint only Amitie notices the coincidences between Sig and the demon in Klug's book]]). The problem is solved when [[StatingTheSimpleSolution Accord tells Sig to try to catch bugs with his right hand]], something Sig had not even considered.
** Implied and played more straight in ''15th Anniversary'' and ''Sig's Secret''. The former shows Sig asking Akuma if he knows a way to change his hand back to normal, while the latter has him [[NotSoStoic become visibly uncomfortable]] when Amitie makes a joke about his anomalies spreading over the rest of his body.
* FriendToBugs: Though he also [[BugCatching collects them.]]
* GlowingEyes: Starting with ''20th'', his red eye will glow when he uses his Hydrangea spell, which is notably, also the only time he uses his red arm for any of his attacks, further hinting at his partial demon heritage.
* GoodCounterpart: To the demon inside Klug's book.
* GroundPunch: Performs one as part of his Cerulean spell.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Half-demon in Sig's case, which is the cause of his red eye and hand.
* HaveYouTriedNotBeingAMonster: Many characters have shown concern towards Sig's unique traits, such as his red left arm, his HairAntennae, or the ghost that seemingly follows him. Sig himself does not care much (if at all), though, only complaining about his arm when it proved inconvenient when catching bugs.
* HairAntennae: That ''twitch'' like bug antennae. In his earlier appearances, his antennae has also been shown to easily fall off and grow back within seconds, though this seems to have been dropped, starting with ''20th''.
* HeadPet:
** Has a cute ladybug living on his hair most of the time. It's apparently his favorite one too.
** In ''15th'' and ''7'', he has a Japanese rhinoceros beetle in certain sprites and artworks.
* HeartTrauma: Implied. [[spoiler:In the same book where you can find the history of Possessed Klug, it's stated that whatever remained of Sig's ancestor, was very absent-minded and stoic. It seems that missing half your soul runs in the family or something.]]
* HeroAntagonist: Of ''Tetris'''s Chapter 9, as he tries to avoid Schezo claiming his power.
* HeroicRROD: He starts going mad in ''Sig's Secret'' after getting a power-enhancing potion spilled on him. His body [[spoiler:starts to show changes, turning both his eyes red and his hair darker]].
* HiddenDepths:
** Despite how indifferent he can seem at first, Sig is actually very dedicated to his friends. This comes up most often with Amitie, to the point where Sig is quick to go along with anything that she might be up to, while showing far less motivation for things that mainly concern himself. His interactions with Arle in ''15th'' also show a very empathetic side of him.
** While certainly slow at times, Sig has also been shown to be pretty on the ball on occasion; for instance, he manages to solve Yu's wordplay riddles in ''Fever 2'' with little effort (while Amitie fails). An even better example occurs in the first SEGA novel, where Sig quickly and correctly deduces that the sick feeling baby bird Tama might just be hungry. He even manages to surprise [[BadassBookworm Ringo]] in the process.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Lightly implied. While he is largely shown to not mind having a demonic arm, a few scenes and character descriptions show that he does have the desire to know more about it, and to possibly "cure" it. This is most apparent in his interaction with Akuma from the latter's ''15th Anniversary'' story mode.
* IconicItem: Save for some of his alts in ''Quest'' Sig is never seen without his bag.
* IconicSequelCharacter: He eclipsed Raffina as the deuteragonist of the ''Fever'' era, plays a big part in its backstory, and continues to get more exposure than any other ''Fever'' character besides Amitie. Because of this, it can be easy to forget that he wasn't in the first ''Fever'' game.
* ImpliedLoveInterest: To Amitie. There are enough hints to assume she has feelings for him, but the games keep it very vague and subtle, although the novels do explore their relationship a bit further. In any case, it's never outright stated that Amitie is in love with him, and we don't often have the chance to hear Sig's thoughts on the matter.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: The half of the demon that wasn't sealed away and became Sig's ancestor is said to have been incredibly absent-minded, implying that many of Sig's quirks are the result of HeartTrauma being carried on through his family line.
* LateToTheRealization: Happens in ''Fever 2''. It takes him until after winning his match with them to realize that Yu and Rei are ghosts.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[http://youtu.be/JjTRyWCKg4o "In The Middle of a Stroll"]] for ''15th'', [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTS4-rneOnE "Easygoing March"]] in ''20th''. Both these themes contain a hidden major-key variation of the ''Crimson Wave''-leitmotif, the theme of [[spoiler:the Record of Sealing's demon]], which even more prominently occurs in Klug's character themes.
* LiteralMinded: Especially in ''15th Anniversary'', such as thinking a bookworm is a literal worm when Klug claims they're really cool.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: He descends from one, more specifically [[spoiler:the other half of the demon in Klug's book]], with this incompleteness being the reason behind Sig's personality quirks.
* LivingShadow: A blue shadowy spirit, most likely Sig's demon half, follows him at all times, but Sig himself has never noticed it. Only Amitie and Lidelle have mentioned having seen that spirit in Sig's ''20th'' story. However, after beating Lidelle in said story, Sig does seem to become aware that something ''is'' there, asking "Is (my) soul showing?" in his win-quote.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: He doesn't know at all about his demon heritage and generally acts in confusion when hints of it are thrown his way. Lemres is heavily implied to know the truth, but doesn't want Sig to learn about it, for unknown reasons.
* LostInTranslation: Sig's Hydrangea spell is called Cobalt in localization, while Possessed Klug's variant still goes by Hydrangea, removing a major hint at their connection in the process.
* MagicalEye: Sig's left eye turned permanently red alongside the sudden mutation of his red arm. It can glow, the intensity of the light seemingly reflecting the current activity of his demonic powers. [[RedEyesTakeWarning When the color and glow spread to his right eye it's time to ring in a state of emergency, because that means that his demonic soul is taking over or resonating with something nearby.]]
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: His one red eye.
* MeaningfulName:
** Sig is a component of many Germanic and Scandinavian names, but is not seen alone in a name. An incomplete name for [[LiteralSplitPersonality an incomplete person]].
** According to the staff, Sig's personality was meant to be a VisualPun on the fact that his debute game was both, the overall sixth major game in the series, and a second part to the fifth game (6-2 in Japanese makes "Muchuu", which means "in a trance"). Accordingly, his name also represents this, sounding similar to, well "six".
* MellowFellow: One of his primary personality traits. For all the odd going-ons he's witnessed, he's usually rather laid-back for the most part (Although, this could just be a side-effect of his being only one half of a demon).
* MotorMouth: While he is usually the polar opposite of this, he briefly turns into this in Drama CD 2 when giving Amitie and Raffina information about a certain stag-beetle's impressive night-vision.
* MundaneUtility: Sig uses his incredibly standing-out [[RedRightHand red left arm]]... to house a family of bugs. [[{{Squick}} Schezo is not pleased to find out that fact.]]
* MusclesAreMeaningful: Not that the artstyle shows it, but Sig's red arm has been described as muscular on several occasions and he is known to have a good amount physical strength behind it. Rulue even considered hiring him as a new bodyguard once he gets older, for this very reason.
* NewTransferStudent: While it isn't made clear whether he transferred schools or just classes, he is introduced like this in ''Puyo Puyo Fever 2's'' manual, which puts special emphasis on how "mysterious" he is, thanks to his eccentricities.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: The in-between one with Amitie and Klug/Raffina. Note that he's actually very nice in general, but thanks to his usual languid and easily distracted attitude, he often comes off as accidentally apathetic or insensitive.
* NoSell: His demonic ancestry renders him immune to certain magic, such as [[spoiler:Marle's corruption. His demonic side simply takes the brunt of the spell for him.]] Incidentally, Klug shares this immunity in certain cases, as he has the protection of [[spoiler:the other half of the demon's spirit in his book]]
* NotSoStoic: He may not express it well, but he isn't devoid of emotion.
** He sounds genuinely upset when Witch tried to attack his ladybug in ''20th''.
** Dark Sig is described in ''Quest'' to be far more emotional than how Sig normally is.
** Chapter 9 of ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'' contains the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPAhJqINFCM&feature=youtu.be&t=2h39m44s only moment]] in the series so far that you will hear him get upset to the point of sounding on the verge of tears.
** In ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'' he quickly objects to Amitie joining Ringo, Tee, and O in looking for Arle while she is too tired to stand and in ''Puyo Puyo Tetris 2'', Sig goes out of his way to save Feli from [[spoiler:the Dimensional Parasite]], surprising Raffina. (This is explained by scenario writer Utako Yoshino as Sig's bond with his friends having deepened to the point that he's become more aware of his own desires regarding them.)
* ObliviousToLove: For all the girls that have shown any sort of interest in him (romantic or otherwise), he doesn't really pay them any mind, happily prioritizing his bug catching hobby instead.
* OddFriendship: As mentioned in her folder, he shares one with Raffina. He cares enough about her that he willingly leaves the bugs in Ringo's classroom behind to go looking for her, once aware that they are in a different world, while in contrast, not coming along with Ringo to look for Amitie.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness:
** Noticeably starts showing more emotion to the point of tears in ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'''s 9th Chapter after [[spoiler:Schezo defeats him in the end and [[ItMakesSenseInContext attempts to claim his hand]]]].
** Him starting to ignore her and his other friends beyond his usually spaciness is what tipped Amitie off that something was very wrong with Sig in ''Sig's Secret'' - [[NotHimself She was right.]]
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: His ancestor was the other half of the demon that is trapped in Klug's book.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: Dark Sig in contrast to Sig normally shows a lot more emotion in his voice.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Blue Boy to Raffina's Pink Girl, and to Amitie, who wears plenty of pink in her outfits.
* PokemonSpeak: His DLC voice in the Japanese version of ''Puyo Tetris'' makes all of his voice clips entirely this.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: [[spoiler:Amitie reminding Sig of his friends, their work on the cafe together and a earlier Puyo match between Klug, Raffina, Arle and Ringo that she noticed him having fun watching, is what gives Sig the strength to start fighting back against his demon side, during the climax of ''Sig's Secret''.]]
* {{Protectorate}}:
** At the end of Raffina's Hard course in ''Fever 2'', Sig appears and tells Raffina not to advance [[spoiler:due to Possessed Klug]]. Raffina, being [[AlphaBitch Raffina]], proceeds to call him greedy and challenges him to a fight.
* PrimaryColorChampion: Due to his design favoring blue and having an unnaturally red eye and arm.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: While Sig has a red left eye, due to his demon heritage, [[InvertedTrope he's a good guy]], and he cares about hardly anything else than collecting bugs. That being said, the trope ''is'' played straight the few times his blue right eye becomes red (i.e. when he encounters Possessed Klug, and in ''Sig's Secret''), albeit because of the uncertainty of what's happening, and not because of Sig's behaviour.
* RedRightHand: {{Subverted}}. His left arm is completely red and has claws. It's a proof of his demonic heritage, but Sig himself is unambiguously good.
* ReiAyanamiExpy: A child-friendly version. He is introduced as a mysterious transfer student, has blue hair and one red eye, mysterious powers, comes off as emotionless due to his flat affect but actually has a very vivid internal emotional world (as Amitie often points out), and is even shown to have some degree of angst over his non-human traits in the novels. He also ticks the "character development" box, as recent games have even pointed out that Sig has become more aware of his own wants and needs as he's spent more time with his friends.
* {{Reincarnation}}: While not outright stated, it is implied that Sig is not only the descendant, but also the reincarnation of the [[spoiler: left-behind half of the sealed demon]], as he is stated at seperate points in the games to have inherited both [[spoiler: the demon's]] blood and soul.
* TheRightHandOfDoom: Or rather, the left hand of doom.
* TheRival: At least Onion Pixie sees him as a rival for Oniko's affections. Of course Sig isn't interested at all, but he still remains a walking BerserkButton for the little onion.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: The savviness to Amitie's energy.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere:
** Tried to invoke this in his [=WakuWaku=] course against Lemres ''[[RuleOfThree three times]]''. Lemres grabbed him before he could run the first two times, but he succeeds the third.
** In ''Puyo Quest'' as "Crown Sig", one of his quotes is "Can I go home now?"
* SecretlyDying: He slowly starts [[spoiler: losing his sense of self due to his demonic side going haywire]] in ''Sig's Secret'' but refuses to tell anyone out of worry of ruining his friends' days with his troubles. He promises to never make that mistake again when he realizes how important he is to the others in the end of the novel.
* SeriesContinuityError: While the exact point of time has never been made clear, it's been said that Sig's left arm and eye only turned red not long before ''Fever 2''. This is not reflected in his much younger child form in ''7'', which is shown to already have his present day anomalies. However, it is likely that the Mini-transformation is supposed to be more of a shrinking or aging spell than actual time travel, making these inconsistencies an intentional choice by SEGA, rather than a genuine error.
* SeriousBusiness: Bug-collecting and bug-caretaking is EVERYTHING to this kid. To the point where he will challenge people to Puyo fights if they even ''imply'' that they’ll hurt a bug in front of him. ([[NotMakingThisUpDisclaimer Seriously.]] Ask Ocean Prince.)
* ShipTease:
** In the novel ''Amitie and the Mysterious Egg'', upon realizing that Sig is better with animals than her, Amitie quickly suggests that he should become the "father" of the baby bird Tama, which has just adopted Amitie as its "mother". Arle and Ringo quickly cut Amitie off, telling her to consider what she's implying (she fails to understand the implications), while Sig states he actually wouldn't mind being Tama's parent alongside Amitie - [[FriendToBugs If Tama were a bug.]]
** In chapter 3 of the novel ''Amitie and the Girl of Love'', the idea of Amitie and Sig "sharing love" with each other gets brought up as a result of Amitie discussing Ally's catchphrase. Even [[ThreesomeSubtext Klug gets dragged in]], but since he's the only one aware of the implications, he quickly tries to remove himself from the situation in protest. Sig continues to mumble about "sharing love with Amitie" up to the end of the chapter, which in turn makes Amitie flustered again and makes her blush.
* SignatureMove: Cyan is always his first spell, and Cobalt/Hydrangea is always his last spell. Both of them even appear in Quest, unlike fellow recurring move Celadon/Celestial, which is usually his fourth but in Champions is his third.
* SignificantBirthDate: June 16 ([[NumberOfTheBeast 6/16]]), representing his demonic heritage. It is also the same birth date as Possessed Klug.
* SixthRanger: To the ''Fever 2'' student group, since he was not in the first game.
* SleepsWithBothEyesOpen: Listed as his special skill in his ''Fever 2'' profile, and does this on Amitie in ''Sig's Secret''. Twice.
* {{Sleepyhead}}: Shows himself to be this on occasion, to the point where some of his flavor text quotes in ''Quest'' are just a series of sleeping noises.
* {{Sleepwalking}}: Arle and her party find Sig sleepwalking in ''Chronicle'', necessitating a Puyo match to wake him up.
* InconsistentSpelling: In-Universe; Ringo spelled his name as "しぐ" rather than "シグ" when she meets him in ''7''.[[note]]To clarify, Sig's name is spelt in Katakana but she spelt it in Hiragana. Hiragana can be translated straight at face value, while Katakana isn't as cut and dry with romanization. Newer translations of the scene add Ringo wondering about how odd his name sounds, which is what her misspelling of it is intended to communicate in-universe.[[/note]]
* SupremeChef: His Steam City alt portrays him as a successful baker, with his signature Bug Bread (literally bread baked into the shape of a bug) being his most popular ware.
%% * SupernaturalMartialArts
* SweatDrop: He has this reaction twice in ''Fever 2''. Once when Oniko falls in love with him, causing Onion Pixie to become furious, and another time when Ocean Prince demands a punishment for Baldanders, simply because he couldn't understand the dog's barking.
* TheOneGuy: Dabbles into this on occasion, due to his rather sizable circle of female friends. This is most visible in [[https://66.media.tumblr.com/3a9b2b923597334fcf155c816e6aafcf/tumblr_o0542hBkDm1v39q72o1_1280.jpg this]] promotional comic for ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'', in which he is seen playing with Amitie, Raffina, Arle and Ringo.
** Fittingly he is featured as the only male character alongside Arle, Amitie, Ringo, Rulue and Witch on the first Vocal CD.
** In addition he is the only (human) male of the franchise to appear in ''Pashamon'' and VideoGame/ChainChronicle, as part of their respective collabs with ''Quest''.
* TheQuietOne: Not overwhelmingly so, but Sig isn't a wordy character and can be fairly quiet at times. One especially noteworthy instance is in Amitie's ''20th'' story, once the two encounter Arle, Sig only has a single line directed at her and then goes completely quiet for the next two stages.
* ThemeNaming: His spells are related to the color blue. ''Cyan'', ''Paraiba'', and ''Robin's Egg'' are blue items; a color, a blue stone, and a blue-colored egg. ''Lapis Lazuli'' is another blue stone, replacing ''Paraiba'' in 20th. ''Celestial'' is a term used to describe the sky, and ''Hydrangea''s can be [[{{Foreshadowing}} either blue or pink.]] The latter is replaced with ''Cobalt'' in the English version of ''Puyo Tetris''.
* TheStoic: Exaggerated; this guy's face hardly moves, and has a perpetually monotone voice. Carries over to his Steam City version in ''Puyo Quest'', where his Full Power portrait (which usually comprises of a more serious, battle-ready expression) barely even emotes. His "Happy" alternate voice in ''20th'' and his English alternate in ''Puyo Tetris'' defy this, having him express much more emotion than normal.
* TheyHaveTheScent: Not Sig himself, but a species of golden butterfly he summons to help Ringo and Schezo track down the mythical White Puyo in ''Puyo on Stage''.
* TranquilFury: Whenever he gets angry, which usually only happens [[BerserkButton when he thinks a bug might get harmed by someone else]], Sig's anger manifests in this form.
* UnlimitedWardrobe: Sig has a tendency to switch outfits more often then most of the cast. His original outfit stuck around for ''Fever 2'' and ''15th Anniversary'', before switching to a variant of the Suzuran uniform in ''7''. ''20th Anniversary'' introduced what would become his default outfit for most games or other media and even that didn't stop him from receiving another new one in ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'' and being one of very few characters to get a completely new outfit for his higher rank cards in ''Quest''.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight:
** Sig doesn't care at all about his [[RedRightHand red left arm]], and as a result, no one (except for Akuma in ''Fever 2'' and Lemres in ''Sig's Secret'') really knows why he has it.
** He is also not particularly impressed by the blue spirit that occasionally leaves his body. His story in ''20th'' implies he might not even be aware that the spirit existed.
* UtilityPartyMember: In ''Quest'', Dark Sig is a most significant case as (just like Red Amitie, who has the exact same skills) he makes multiple-colour decks viable, thanks to his HP and Attack boosting Leader Skills and powerful Attack boosting active skill (which stacks with his Leader Skill), making his teammates very powerful ''and'' difficult to take down.
* VocalEvolution: Starts out with a slightly tired-sounding and somewhat deadpan Japanese voice in ''Fever 2'', which gradually becomes more and more of a CreepyMonotone as the games go on. His ''Dark Sig'' alt, which is actually supposed to show what he would sound like if he were more emotional, ironically sounds more like a return to his ''Fever 2'' voice than anything.
* WeirderThanUsual: In spite of everyone else doing his behavior off as within the norm for Sig, after spending the first half of the novel learning more about Sig's NotSoStoic side, Amitie immediately picks up on it when he starts acting genuinely robotic, ineffectual and inattentive in the later half of ''Sig's Secret''. It turns out to be a sign [[spoiler: of him being taken over by his demonic powers and struggling to resist it while trying not to worry his friends.]]
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: His ''Fever 2'' bio lists ghosts as his dislike, implying he may be afraid of them and his reaction when realizing Yu and Rei are ghosts in a victory quote from the same game can be read as one of shock. Despite this he shows no signs of being particularly uncomfortable around them in ''20th''. Later, Drama CD #4 implies that he still ''dislikes'' ghosts and just isn't particularly shocked by meeting them anymore after all the times Yu has accosted him.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: Materials outside the games group Sig with Klug at times, despite the latter frequently berating Sig and being one of few characters to express intolerance for his bug catching hobby.
* WorkingThroughTheCold: A supernatural variant of this occurs in ''Sig's Secret'', where Sig pretends to be fine for days when [[spoiler: his demonic powers are starting to errode his sense of self]]. This causes his condition to advance to the point his [[spoiler: personality almost completely disappears and dies]]. It's later implied he did this in order to not worry his friends or ruin the fun they're having with their festival project.
* YinYangBomb: ''Hydrangea'', which is shown summoning both blue and red sparks of energy. [[spoiler:His other half also uses the spell.]]

Lemres' underclass woman, Feli hails from the same town and school as her senior. She's skilled in the occult art of divination, with a gothic lolita dress and a dark and mysterious personality to match her abilities. Despite all of that, she's got a strong attachment to Lemres, which inevitably leads to her antagonizing Klug for idolizing him.
----
* BerserkButton: Don't mention you want to become like Lemres or better than him. Klug's a frequent offender of this.
* BlushSticker
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: The merging of the Puyo and Tetris worlds ends up mind-controlling her in ''Tetris''. Her case is significantly more PlayedWith than with Raffina and Rulue, as that mind control makes the person state very ominous messages to everyone else... except Feli is known for doing that all the time. Ringo has a hard time realizing whether she was acting oddly or not, and it takes Lemres to confirm that she was back to normal.
* CannotSpitItOut: She tried to ask Lemres out on a date, but unfortunately asked for a [[LastSecondWordSwap Delicious]] Puyo Match instead. Oops.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Towards Lemres, bordering on {{Yandere}} at times.
* ChocolateOfRomance: As Lovestruck Feli, holding a heart-shaped chocolate box as part of a Valentine's Day-themed event in ''Puyo Quest''. No points guessing on who she's giving it to.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: Subverted. Though she follows Lemres around, she never actually gets involved with anything he does.
* CovertPervert: She wants to take advantage of Lemres's candy-deprived delirium to do [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything whatever she wants]] to him in ''20th.''
** In ''15th'', Yu and Rei joke about her star sign (Virgo), commenting that she is anything but (much to her annoyance).
* DarkIsNotEvil: She is on the side of good (or rather, Lemres's), but this does not stop other characters from finding her unsettling.
* DecompositeCharacter: Acts as one to Lala from ''Madou Monogatari I'', taking over her role of being an unfriendly, female magic students obsessed with a Senpai, whom she has an unrequited crush on. (Lala's other traits, namely unreasonable confidence in her own academic abilities and a disagreeable snideness, went to Klug.)
* DowsingDevice: Carries a pair of L-shaped rods for her divination arts.
* TheDreaded: Feli is the one character that the rest of the cast simply doesn't look forward to interacting with, since she can become really antagonistic over the smallest things (unless Lemres is around). Klug, in particular, fears her.
* DubNameChange: The localized release of ''Champions'' changes White Feli to Angelic Feli.
* ElegantGothicLolita: Amitie even comments she looks like a doll in ''Sig's Secret.''
* TheFatalist: She's completely convinced it's her destiny to get with Lemres. He, naturally, disagrees. On the other hand, Feli has the power to foresee the future and, according to Lemres, change fate.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: As discussed in TheDreaded entry, the rest of the cast fears her since she generally acts creepy and can become enraged at the drop of a hat. Only Lemres seems to be used to her attitude by now, and even then he has his moments of discomfort towards it.
* GothGirlsKnowMagic: Par for the course for a world where magic is the norm, but even among them, she practices fortune telling and curses.
* HimeCut: To go with her ElegantGothicLolita style.
* IconicSequelCharacter: While she lacks the story relevance of Lemres she did quickly go on to become one of the big ''Fever'' mainstays, it took until ''Champions'' for her to miss out on a roster spot, something that even more notable ''Fever'' veterans like Accord or Lidelle can't say for themselves.
* IKnowYourTrueName: Mentions that she can curse people if she knows their true name in ''15th''.
* TheJailBaitWait: Inverted. She wants her age to catch up with Lemres' (it's her wish in ''15th'') so she can have a proper relationship with him.
* KidWithTheLeash: Subverted; she has a huge hellhound at her disposal, but doesn't do anything with him at all.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ocQT13dhsY "The Name for Thinking by the Window is..."]] for ''15th''.
** ''20th'' gives her [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_ymnzjU7KA "Hidden Feelings"]].
* LickedByTheDog: Baldanders cares a ''lot'' about her.
* MeaningfulName: Felix means "lucky".
* {{Meido}}: Her adult form in ''7'' has strong shades of this.
* MyNewGiftIsLame: Acts this way towards Baldanders.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: If she's alongside Lemres and Klug, she will be the Mean creepy {{Yandere}} who views Klug as an obstacle in-between her and Nice Lemres.
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: Klug, Amitie, and ''especially'' Ringo find her attitude creepy.
* NotSoStoic: Goes ballistic in ''15th'' when Klug says he'll "become like Lemres". Of course, the moment's played for laughs, with Klug not helping.
* PalmOnCheekPose: When she takes major damage in ''Puyo Tetris''.
* PowerGivesYouWings: She sports a pair of purely decorative angel wings as [[http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/shadowwaluigi1826/WhiteFeli.jpg Angelic Feli.]] As for where the power part applies, Angelic Feli has ''immensely'' stronger AI than her normal counterpart, outdoing the likes of Dark Prince and Ecolo's AI for difficulty. Angelic Feli also appears in the AudioAdaptation as a seperate character: An angel of death from another dimension, who tries to steal Arle and Ringo's souls for her collection.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: Feli wears a skirt with white tights.
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: Her hair color can be read like this.
* SatelliteLoveInterest: Played with. Her relationship with Lemres is rarely explored in a serious manner, being more of a setup for jokes coming from the reactions of other characters to it.
* {{Seers}}: Through her divination powers, she can foresee the future or past. She demonstrates this on Ringo in ''Sig's Secret'' by recalling why Ringo was late meeting with Amitie and Arle to discuss Sig's disappearance. However, when it comes to the future, what she actually sees is quite abstract.
* SelfProclaimedLoveInterest: Considers herself to be Lemres' fated true love (and will get pissed off at anyone who questions it). Lemres, as far as we know, does not see her in a romantic light. At best, he enjoys her company as a close friend and undergrad student.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Lemres is everything to her, to the point she has no amiable relationships with anyone else in the cast save for maybe Baldanders, her dog.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: Most of her spells are terms related to the art of divination (Conjunction, Luminary, Horary, Significator, etc.)
* StalkerWithACrush: To Lemres.
* StealthPun: Feli has a [[RedStringOfFate red ribbon]] tied around her head.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Normally cold to most people, but sweet to Lemres. She has IrrationalHatred towards Klug instead of ice, though.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Well, not exactly girlfriend, but she's very defensive of Lemres.
* {{Yandere}}: Veers into this territory for Lemres in ''20th'', to the point where he feels unsafe around her and needs to run away in his story. When Feli basically tries to pull a G-rated ''[[DateRape date-rape]]'' on him via a [[SlippingAMickey cake laced with salt]] (the previous stage against Klug revealed that salt knocks Lemres out cold)

Local genius of Primp Town, Klug serves as a sort of MrExposition, with knowledge of several events (but never willing to reveal them). He's got the honor student book smarts to contrast Amitie, but despite being able to plan several steps ahead, he's not always prepared when things don't quite go his way.
----
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: While Klug has generally mellowed out in more recent games, ''Puyo on Stage'' takes it to another level, by having Klug do absolutely nothing to incur anyone's wrath (other than rightfully pointing out when people are being silly or dishonest, that is), and yet ''still'' be at the receiving end of a large part of the play's {{Slapstick}}.
* AllThereInTheManual: He is said to be skilled at card games, in one of his character profiles.
* AllergicToLove: When he sees Maguro's full face [[SoBeautifulItsACurse (which make anyone who sees it fall in love with him)]] in ''20th'', his first instinct is to be ''terrified'' and try to run away.
* AndIMustScream: Anytime his body gets possessed by the demon within his book, he ends up taking its place within said book. Judging by his expression when sealed up, it's pretty clear that he's not enjoying any of it at all.
* {{Angrish}}: Has one moment in his story where he just mutters complete nonsense in front of Sig, while under the effects of Witch's Secret Juice. What we see in the dialogue displays the Japanese equivalent of BlahBlahBlah, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=bi800QnOy0k&t=477 but what we actually hear is pretty hilarious.]]
* AscendedExtra: He's the most prominent ''Fever'' character in the Live Manzai that are played out during official ''Puyo''-related livestreams, thanks to Creator/MieSonozaki being a regular in said streams. Then again, Sonozaki also plays [[TheHero Arle]]...
* AssholeVictim: He's at the same time a {{Jerkass}} and a ButtMonkey, suffering from {{Demonic Possession}}s from time to time, and being picked on by Raffina and Feli, among others.
* AesopAmnesia: He's possessed by his book in ''Fever 2''. Still has it with him in ''15th''. Still with him in ''7''. '''Still''' with him in ''20th''. And no, he didn't find a way to get rid of the demon. And in ''Tetris'', all it takes for the demon to get crazy again (no possession this time, however) is Sig walking past Klug — taking Schezo to calm it down.
* [[BackseatDriver Backseat Gamer]]: Directs Amitie into triggering a 5-chain with his nagging in ''Puyo on Stage''... Only to have Amitie lose the match because of it, since Raffina had set-up an ''8-chain''. Klug is actually humbled into silence by this miscalculation.
* {{Bookworm}}: So he says.
** BadassBookworm: Should he feel the need to do something helpful.
* BigEgoHiddenDepths: His official ImageSong reveals that Klug doesn't ''actually'' consider himself a natural born genius. He is just so obsessed with keeping up his facade of being the town's most talented apprentice sorcerer that he has developed a nasty habit of ignoring even his need to sleep to stay at the top of his studies. The second verse and its chorus specifically imply that this is behavior is caused by some very deep sitting self-loathing issues that Klug is trying to burry underneath academic success and the praise of others.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Shares a moment in ''Puyo Quest'' with fellow dark magic practitioner Miriam. He even declares him as a rival!
* BreakoutCharacter: Was a minor antagonist in ''Fever'' but was given a prominent role in ''Fever 2''.
* ButtMonkey: While the series has plenty of those, he is one of the examples that tends to get humiliated or disrespected the most. Being so arrogant and unfriendly tends to cause that.
* ColorCodedCharacters: All Primp students are designed to feature one of the five Puyo colors prominently in their designs. Klug obviously falls under purple, which fittingly also groups him with other dark magic users like Schezo in ''Quest''.
* ConflictBall: Drops these so much you'd think it would be ForTheEvulz.
* {{Chuunibyou}}: Somehow manages to tick all the boxes for the delusional type, despite actually ''having'' magical powers. As much actual talent as he has as a magic user, his very melodramatic demeanor only succeeds in making him seem childish and ''weaker'' than he actually is.
* DecompositeCharacter:
** Served as one, along with Lemres, for Schezo in the ''Fever'' series, as he shares Schezo's usage of dark magic as well as his awkward and selfish personality.
** Also serves as one for ''Madou Monogatari's'' Lala, alongside Feli, taking over her role of the disagreeable, asocial magic student with unreasonable confidence in their own academics.
* DemonicPossession: Well, what did you ''think'' was going to happen when you carry around a possessed book? Some people just have to learn the hard way... and with Possessed Klug filling in for Klug's adult transformation in ''[=PP7=]'', he never learned. Seeing how Klug repeatedly gets re-possessed upon losing conciousness at various ocassions in the AudioAdaptation and the book begins acting up again in ''Tetris'' and Klug is powerless to stop it until Schezo helps him, it seems unlikely he's actually found a way to control the demon.
* DemotedToExtra:
** Unlike his classmates he's merely a OptionalPartyMember in ''Chronicle'', because of this it's entirely possible to beat the main RPG mode without ever encountering him, since he has no part in the story and only shows up in a very small number of select cutscenes.
** It's Possessed Klug who is one of the playable ''Puyo Puyo'' characters in the mobile title ''Kotodaman'', while Klug himself only appears in his sealed spirit form.
* DoomedByCanon: The fact that Possessed Klug is his Adult Form in ''7'' implies he might not be able to avoid being possessed again. Alternately, if one interpretes the Adult Forms of the characters to be based on their own aspirations (which seems likely, given that everyone seems to grow up exactly into what they've previously stated they want to be), this can also be taken to mean that Klug is at high risk of [[FaceHeelTurn becoming exactly like the demon of his own accord]] if he proceeds his current path in life.
* DoubleTake: In ''Tetris's'' English dub, when Schezo announces his intentions towards Sig.
* DrunkOnMilk: The entirety of his story in ''20th'' began with him getting drunk on Witch's "Secret Drink". Though, given that magic-replenishing items in the ''Madou Monogatari'' games (which Witch originates from) almost exclusively are said to contain alcohol, it is likely that [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything the "milk"-part doesn't even apply here.]]
** MoodSwinger: One of Witch's drink's effects on him. One moment he's laughing at Raffina for being "thick", the next he's crying to Amitie over his insecurities.
* ElmuhFuddSyndwome: His alternate voice in the English version of ''Tetris 2'' has him speaking this way.
* EvilIsCool: If his ''Fever 2'' profile is to be believed, he thinks that evil things are cool. This does line up with his affinity for dark magic.
* EvilIsNotAToy: [[spoiler:He collected the items needed to release the demon within his book ''on purpose''. It doesn't help that he covers up his mistake to Amitie at the end of her Hard Course in ''Fever 2'', saying that it was "an experiment to see what would happen if one was possessed".]] He’s honestly lucky that Amitie is such a [[TheDitz ditz]].
* ExactWords: His wish in ''15th'' was to have his success written in a 16 page spread in the Monthly Kuromage, the town's local magazine. Popoi acknowledges how specific it is, but his hopes get shot down after Ms. Accord points out that he'll get his wish ''if'' he becomes successful, which he failed to mention. So much for that spread, eh?
* ExtremelyOverdueLibraryBook: Has been actively averting this ever since before ''Fever 1'', by making regular trips to the Primp Town Library to renew his lease on the Record of Sealing, abusing the fact that the library does not appear to have a limit on such renewals, much to the chagrin of the librarian, Akuma.
* FailedASpotCheck: The one time he got a bad grade on an exam, it was because he failed to realize he'd misjudged the distance between the boxes on his examination sheets and ticked each answer incorrectly with an exact offset of one.
* {{Fanboy}}: To Lemres.
* {{Foil}}: Serves as one to every single member of the ''Fever'' ARS trio:
** Amitie is a poor student while Klug is a genius one. Meanwhile, outside class, Amitie befriends almost everyone she meets while Klug is unsociable.
** As stated in the latter's entry, both Klug and Raffina are smug and antiheroic type A students. The differences are found in their [[StrongGirlSmartGuy fighting styles]] and social standing ({{Ojou}} and nerd).
** With Sig, it borders on a literal RedOniBlueOni dynamic, with Klug always acting high-strung and putting himself under pressure even when there is no need to, while Sig is always easygoing-to-apathetic about everything. The "literal" part comes from the fact, that Klug currently holds the book containing the other half of Sig's demon soul, meaning he has this little red demon ghost thing popping from his sprite from time to time, which contrasts with Sig's very own soul appendage that takes the form of a small blue ghost.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: In the usual Amitie, Raffina, Sig and Klug foursome, he's the obvious Melancholic; an analytical perfectionist with a mean critical streak, yet gets quickly depressed when his own genius fails him.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: In ''Fever 2'', no one but Amitie is particularly bothered by the fact that Klug is acting very out of character and might be in danger. While Sig has the excuse of being a {{Cloudcuckoolander}}, Raffina flat out doesn't care even when finding out that Klug is possessed, [[EvenEvilHasStandards surprising even the demon possessing him.]]
* TheGadfly: He was clever enough to use different provocations against Amitie and Raffina.
* TheGenericGuy: Not anymore, but [[WordOfGod developer's comments]] imply that he was this at [[BigEgoHiddenDepths least in his own mind]] before getting his hands on the [[SealedEvilInACan Tome of Sealing]], which might explain why he's so reluctant to return the book to the library despite [[DemonicPossession all the trouble it's caused him.]]
* GeniusSweetTooth: Implied by the abundance of chocolate-based snacks he brought to school in ''Amitie and the Mysterious Egg''. Earlier, he had a chocolate bar, stating it's the best food to snack on while studying, and he passes off the abundance of chocolate pie, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate pudding as [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial "mere coincidence"]]. Considering that Lemres is also a GeniusSweetTooth, it's possible Klug is trying to imitate him.
* GoodIsNotNice: He does not have bad intentions, and occasionally helps the heroes, but he's a {{Jerkass}} towards everyone bar Lemres (whom he idolizes) and Feli (whom he's terrified of).
* GratuitousLatin: Has a tendency to use Latin words in his spells.
* {{Haiku}}: All (in Japanese) / most (in English) of his incantation can be divided into lines with five or seven morae/syllables.
-->Saa, maware\
Gin no tsuki\
Kin no taiyou\
Shikkoku no sora\
Ware ni chikara o!

-->There, come to me now\
Golden sunlight, silver moon\
Jet black cosmos\
Give me your power!
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Has a dream of being famous enough to earn 17 pages in the local magician's magazine. Isn't going so well right now. His story in ''20th'' has him drunkenly rant to Amitie at one point about how he feels that his own intellect is the only thing he has going for him.
** IJustWantToBeYou: His more mentioned dream is to become as important as Lemres is.
* InsufferableGenius: When he smugly claims he knows everything about the problem at hand, he actually does, even if he will not tell you it before beating him in a Puyo match. In spite of his attitude, it says enough that, in the ''Everyone's dreams coming true!?'' LightNovel, when ''[[{{Jerkass}} Raffina]]'' starts doubting whether what she sees is actually a dream, her voice of reason is a projection of Klug.
* {{Jerkass}}: While it happens, it is rare for him to do something nice that ''isn't'' towards Lemres.
* JustEatGilligan: Many (though certainly not all) of the problems he goes through could be solved by simply getting rid of his possessed book. This is especially glaring given Klug ''knows'' it's possessed and trying to take his body and yet keeps it around anyways.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: He's undeniably smart... in an ''academic'' way, that is. Outside of the classroom, though, he shows DelusionsOfEloquence surprisingly often. Amitie even calls him a know-nothing when he kept dancing around the secrets of her hat in ''20th''.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: He's a genius; we can't deny that. Even so, he idolizes Lemres.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[http://youtu.be/iqrtY4zx8_I "I'm the Greatest, Ever!"]] in ''15th'', [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBNWJt-ql94 "Nebula Step"]] in ''20th''. Notably, both of these themes contain the ''Crimson Wave''-leitmotif, a trait that is shared with Sig's themes.
* LonersAreFreaks: In one ''Quest'' 4-koma, Raffina teases him that now that the multiplayer mode has opened, "even lonely people like Klug can rest easy".
* MeaningfulName: "Klug" is German for wise/smart/intelligent.
* MilkingTheGiantCow: His laughing sprite, though only with one hand. The other is held back, holding onto the book.
* MrExposition: {{ZigZagged}}. You will need to defeat him in a [[SeriousBusiness Puyo match]] to get information from him in the games. When he ''does'' explain, however, half of the time he words it in a way that sounds incredibly vague and not exactly useful at all. '''Sig''' of all people calls him out on this in ''Amitie and the Mysterious Egg'', in trying to explain what Tama is specifically (aside from being a white bird).
* NerdGlasses: Large, circular frames in wires...
* NiceMeanAndInbetween:
** He and Raffina can both be considered the mean ones to Amitie's 'Nice' and Sig's 'In-Between'. Compared to Raffina herself, he's a bit meaner due to being less likely to undergo an introspection about his own character flaws and doesn't have the same sympathetic background she has.
** When forming a trio with Lemres and Feli, he's the In-Between to the very chill Lemres and the very psychotic Feli.
* NotHimself: In ''Fever 2'', his Deka transformation in ''7'', the ''20th Anniversary'' alternate costume for him...
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler:After regaining his body from Possessed Klug's clutches, he gives the Sun Bookmark, one of the catalysts used to break the book's seal, to Amitie rather than keep it. As much as he tries to deny the possession being his fault, he's learned his lesson the hard way.]]
* ThePerfectionist: And proud of it. This also extends beyond his study of magic: In ''Sig's Secret'', he is seen taking 30 minutes trying to take flour measurements ''perfectly'' and trying to use a theromometer to preheat an oven, just to show off with his baking skills to Sig and the girls.
* PowerFloats: His book is seen floating when he casts powerful spells.
* PowersViaPossession: Into Possessed Klug.
* PrideBeforeAFall: Klug looks unhappy about being sealed in a book. When he's released, he brushes it off like nothing happened.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Being the honors student of the class, he's got the smarts needed to learn high-powered magic and purple is the dominant color in his clothes. As a game character, his A.I.'s one of the stronger characters, and his fast chains can be a challenge to someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
* RecognitionFailure: From Dark Prince's story in ''15th''. Although, to be fair, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZz9wmmJ3W4&t=2m53s he thought Satan was a myth]]... but it doesn't change the fact that he found Satan out from a book, and stated that this "cosplayer" looked just like him.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Sig and Possessed Klug, blue to Raffina and Amitie.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: His glasses a tendency to obscure his eyes when he wildly grins. Occasionally downplayed to a single lens-flare.
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl: He has a noticeably high-pitched scream when he sustains heavy damage.
* SealedEvilInACan: The can to a demon was [[WhatTheHellHero given to him by Lemres.]]
* SecurityBlanket: The local librarian, Akuma, accuses him of using the Record of Sealing as one after Klug repeatedly refuses to cancel his ridiculously long lease on the book. Given that ''at least two'' canonical possession incidents later, he still insists that the book is part of his identity, Akuma likely has a point.
* SignatureHeadgear: His purple academic cap, which is only given to honor students such as him.
* SignatureLaugh: UHYAHYAHYAHYA!
* SmallNameBigEgo: He constantly tries to lord over everyone how powerful and intelligent he is, [[spoiler:but is often beaten up by his classmates, including by Raffina whose magic is incredibly weak.]] That said, it's not skill that he's lacking, as his AI is notoriously the strongest among child characters in most of the games he appears in. He just tends to sabotage himself with his overconfidence.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: So much that some people like Sig tend to refer to him as just that, "Glasses".
* SoulJar: The book he carries around with him has a red spirit that pokes out of its pages every now and then. [[spoiler:It's also what he gets sealed into whenever Possessed Klug takes over.]] And he continues to carry it, even when it's ''still'' possessed.
* StarPower: Most of his magic (''all'' once he ditches ''"Ignis"'' after the events of ''Fever 2'') is based on astronomical concepts, contrasting with Feli, who uses astro''logy'' in her spells. This isn't limited to just shooting vaguely star-related lasers either; In ''Drama CD #2'' he uses his ''Stella Inerans/Starlight'' spell to dispell a blockade on the nightsky, which is preventing Feli from using her own magic.
* StrongGirlSmartGuy: With Raffina, who is sorta his rival.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Has one in Possessed Klug, who has stronger AI.
* ThemeNaming: ''[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Nebula]], [[GratuitousLatin Lacteus Orbis]], [[StarPower Nebula Macula]]...'' Meanwhile, ''Ignis'' means [[PlayingWithFire fire]].
* ThoseTwoGuys: The Amitie-starring novels tend to have him and Raffina both play this role for a good chunk of their screentime. This may be a result of the stories focusing more on the 'A' Trio and on some occasions, Sig.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Has an affinity to the dark arts and is quite the {{Jerkass}}, and this is not even taking in account the book with the sealed demon he carries around for no adequately explained reason, but Amitie and co. all consider him a friend anyway.
* TooCleverByHalf: Klug is so confident in his intelligence, he never really considers he's not infallible. Being caught with holes in his logic never fails to catch him off-guard, despite how much he denies it.
** In ''Fever 1'', he spends a little too long gloating and looking down on Amitie and Raffina instead of ''actually'' getting the missing Flying Cane and claiming the reward.
** Additionally, [[RunningGag have we mentioned he's still carrying around a book that could, apparently, possess him at any moment?]] Which it does in several of the [[AudioAdaptation audio CD drama stories]] and also in ''7'' if we infer that from his Mega transformation? Let's take this small part from ''The Record of the Sealing'', an in-game book, just to show you what went wrong in ''Fever 2'':
--->You ''should not'' open this book near the 3 items [[IdiotBall I have written in the page before.]] The seal will be broken and there the [[OhCrap "evil soul" will...]] [[ConvenientlyInterruptedDocument (too smudged to read)]]
** On top of that, his wish in ''15th'' got denied by being too specific with his wording: He wished for his successes as a warlock to be published in a 15-page spread. He'll get it...''if'' he achieves success.
* TooDumbToLive: Downplayed [[FateWorseThanDeath as strict ''death'']] does not occur, but implied by his adult form in ''7'' being Possessed Klug. He had already been possessed by the book's demon once, and in ''Tetris'' he is shown to be completely powerless to stop the demon from raging. Rather than just throwing the book away, however, he keeps it until it takes his body ''again'' and traps him within the book.
* TooKinkyToTorture: When Rulue threatens to punch and kick him into oblivion during ''15th'', Klug's reaction is to ask her if she can add in a Full Nelson (a chokehold) as well.
* TookALevelInKindness: Whereas ''Fever'' and ''Fever 2'' made a point of mentioning that his goal was explicitly to become an ''evil'' dark wizard and had him act selfish and unkind towards absolutely everyone sans Lemres, after the [[GrandTheftMe possession incident]] he seems to have grown out of this for the most part and has settled on just wanting to become a powerful sorcerer in general. Accordingly, he tends to act somewhat more agreeable in recent games, even forging a truce with Raffina whenever the two of them have a common goal.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: He never acknowledges the demon trapped in his book, even after getting possessed by it. This is made especially jarring in Chapter 9 of ''Tetris'', when he despairs over his book yelling at him and never makes any mention of the demon, making it sound like he is (somehow) genuinely unaware of it's presence. In the [[AudioAdaptation Drama CDs]] he twice outright states to be unable to remember exactly what happens when he gets possessed, though that might be because in those two specific instances he got possessed after passing out (once from shock and once due to almost drowning.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: With Raffina. They're usually seen together, but, due to their massive egos, their interactions rarely deviate from [[https://youtu.be/EJNxdr4B0ps them trying to exert their superiority over the other]].

A senior magic student of the neighboring, unnamed town, Lemres was the boss of the [=WakuWaku=] course in ''Fever 2''. Being titled "Comet Warlock" before he even finished magic school, he's actually very strong and intelligent, with a reputation of being a prodigy warlock and fueling Klug's aspiration. He's an amiable person to be around, though his affinity and generosity with sweets does make him a bit of a weirdo to some people.
----
* AffablyEvil: At least he debuted as a boss.
* TheAgeless: Ms. Accord states that fully fledged mages never age beyond their twenties due to abundant use of anti-aging magic in their culture.
* BadLiar: Lies to Sig about not knowing about his demonic red arm and immediately follows up by saying he's lying about it. Surprisingly, this confuses Sig enough to prevent him from asking any more questions.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: His quirks are off-putting at first, but his skill in magic is nothing to sneeze at.
* {{Biomanipulation}}: Is the person who turned Ocean Prince into [[spoiler:a fish]], with the help of the Star Lantern's power.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Beyond his candy-sharing weirdness, he's a famous warlock popular enough to appear in magazines.
* ButtMonkey: In his debut game, anyway. The ending of each of the [=WakuWaku=] routes in ''Fever 2'' ends with him being beat up in some form. Sure, Sig undid his, but it's only until Amitie finds out that he's the visitor in question, and is dragged to Primp Town, still beaten up. In ''20th anniversary'', he is beaten up by Witch after calling her potions weird.
* CastFromCalories: From his comments regarding candy being his power source and his training without sweets in ''20th'', it's implied he casts magic through his sugar intake.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Some of his stranger actions (such as turning the ocean into milk in ''15th'') and giving Klug a book with a powerful demon sealed inside place him into this trope.
* ColorCodedWizardry: Is clad in ''dark'' green.
* CompressedAbstinence: His story's plot in ''20th''. He attempts to wean himself from using candy to power his magic, and it goes about as well as you'd expect from a guy with a SweetTooth.
* ContinuityNod: In ''Chronicle'' he is recruited in the desert of Yellome, likely in reference to his debut in ''Fever 2'', where all three members of ''Fever'' ARS first meet him in a desert area.
* CreepyGood: At least when first met, a lot of characters feel uneasy towards him. They eventually warm up to him once they know of his intentions, with the exception of Ringo, who is still creeped out by his constant offering of candy.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Klug's flavor text in ''7'' alludes to Lemres's magic being dark in nature, but he himself is a fairly friendly person. Heck, his upbringing was in a family of dark mages. It's implied the reason Lemres needs so much sugar to power his spells is because he prefers using light-elemental magic over his natural dark magic.
* ADayInTheLimelight: While already a major supporting character in the games, he also plays a big part in ''Sig's Secret'', being the only one to know of Sig's demon heritage and thus the seriousness of his condition in the novel. He even has more plot relevance then Arle and Ringo, [[DemotedToExtra whose roles in contrast, were largely reduced to mere support for Amitie.]]
* DecompositeCharacter: Served as one, along with Klug, for Schezo in the ''Fever'' series, having a similar appearance and elements of the calmer side of Schezo's personality. Though he exchanges the rivalry for his own quirks. Also shares some traits with Witch, both of them being comet magicians.
* EruditeStoner: A G-rated version alluded to in ''Tetris's'' English dub with his [[SurferDude very calm dub voice]] and love of sweets.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Fans in Japan though can't seem to decide if they should match his color scheme with [[SupernaturalGoldEyes gold eyes]] or turn him into an [[RedEyesTakeWarning albino]].
* FlyingBroomstick: Carried one around prior to ''20th'', where he switches it out for his wand. Though, as ''Sig's Secret'' shows, he can simply conjure one up with a wave of his wand.
* {{Foil}}: To Witch. Both are comet magicians, but where Witch is hyperactive and self-centered, Lemres is calm and friendly.
** He is also one to Schezo. Both are powerful mages who wield dark magic and have quirks that make them come off in a wrong way towards others, but where as Lemres is nice, helpful and well respected, Schezo is instead mocked by most of the cast and usually only helps if there is something of interest for him involved, like punishing Dark Prince.
* GeniusSweetTooth: He's known for constantly having a supply of sweets to fuel his magic, but considering he earned his status ''before he even graduated magic school'', he's got a healthy amount of magical knowledge to match.
* GreenThumb: His spell Forêt Noire in ''15th'' summons a swirl of leaves.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: [[EyesAlwaysShut Not like you can see his eyes, anyway.]] The bangs also add to the suspicious first impression most of the cast had.
* IconicSequelCharacter: His absence from the first ''Fever'' can be very jarring in hindsight, when considering just how much of a major supporting character he became right off the bat, right down to even securing himself a spot on every new roster with the sole exception of ''Champions''.
* InstantExpert: Tee teaches him how to play Tetris. Lemres catches on fast enough that he claims he could even beat Tee... and does so in the next stage.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://youtu.be/W5tuuimMnTQ Rising Comet!]]"; this theme, along with Possessed Klug's and Popoi's, has yet to be changed.
* LongPants: Unlike other characters, his shoes and pants are not visually divided at all.
* LostInTranslation: The pun in Uncanny Lemres is lost when translated. The adjective is spelled "おかしな". If you drop the な (Na), you get おかし, which, fittingly, is the word for "sweets". (One could perhaps translate the joke as “Uncandy”.)
* MadnessMantra: He gets a bit...loony under sweets withdrawal. And it's made even more disturbing in how one editor chooses to communicate it.
** "Sweeswsweesweswsseesweseaesewesweetsweetswetsweetswe..."
** And then he goes "Cakey... cakey... cakey cakey cakey cakey cakey... '''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB2qtoRcGRo&t=13m40s CAAAAAAAAKEY!]]'''"
--> '''Schezo:''' [[OhCrap UWAAAAAA!]]
* MagicWand: He switches out his broom for this in ''20th''.
* MeatOVision: Well, Sweets-O-Vision, in this case. Happens at one point during his story in ''20th'', where he mistakes Donguri Gaeru for a melon gumdrop, in a withdrawal-fueled frenzy.
* {{Motifs}}: Feli keeps comparing him to a comet that will "bring the light" and wants to "keep people from blocking her light".
* MysticalWhiteHair: Befitting a warlock like him. In his case, it's to show he's a magical prodigy.
* NiceGuy: Once you get past the suspicious implications, he's really kind at heart.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: If Klug is around to make a trio with him and Feli, he will be the obvious Nice to Feli's Mean and Klug's In-Between, although he usually sneaks off when the other two start fighting for his attention.
* NoSell: Successfully resists Marle's corruption in ''Tetris 2''
* NotEvilJustMisunderstood: In ''Fever 2'', he's mistaken for a bad person in all the [=WakuWaku=] courses and beaten up as a result.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: Lemres attempts to give candy to Amitie in her course. Pretty much speaks for itself.
* OddFriendship: InUniverse, other characters have found it strange that Lemres would be so friendly and helpful towards a RoyalBrat such as the Ocean Prince. A drama CD explains that they once met when the Ocean Prince, as Prince Salde, was trying to avoid his royal duties and escape from his servants, which inspired Lemres to leave his own home and made him feel indebted to the Ocean Prince.
* OlderThanHeLooks: Not yet, but in ''15th'', Accord explains that it is unlikely that Lemres will age beyond his 20s, because skilled mage tend to get into the habit of using anti-aging magic on themselves after graduation.
* ParentalAbandonment: Inverted. ''Fever 2'' lists "his own house" as a dislike, and ''Puyo Quest'' flavor text also states that he doesn't come home much and enjoys his freedom. The Drama [=CDs=] reveal that he lived in a household that forced him to engage in magic duels, and it took one runaway Ocean Prince to get the drive to leave that life behind.
* RakeTake: One of his damage animations is ''Fever 2'' is him tripping on his broom and the stick smacking him in the face.
* SecretSecretKeeper:
** It's heavily implied in ''20th'', ''Tetris'', and the novel ''Sig's Secret'' that he's aware that Sig is the book demon's original body and he wants to keep Sig from ever realizing it.
** Finally confirmed in ''Tetris 2'', though it is also clarified that he was never entirely sure until he saw [[spoiler:the Dimensional Parasite's spell failing to affect Sig and Klug in exactly the same way.]]
* SweetTooth: He has an endless supply of them, he makes them himself, and in the ''Sig's Secret'' novel, even conjures an abundance of them out of thin air! Justified in that it's his PowerSource. ''Really.'' He tried to train [[CompressedAbstinence without his candy for a few days]] in ''20th'', but it doesn't go well.
* ThemeNaming: [[GratuitousFrench Rissoler, Rouleau, Sucre Filé, Caramelisé/Carameliser, and Glaçage]]. ''15th Anniversary'' adds [[GratuitousFrench Fariner]] and [[GratuitousFrench Forêt Noire]], then ''20th Anniversary'' adds [[GratuitousFrench Parfait]] and [[GratuitousFrench Confiture]]. In translation, minus Parfait (which is a desert), they mean “to brown”, “to roll”, “spun sugar”, “caramelize(d)”, “glaze/frosting”, “to flour”, “Black Forest (Cake)”, and “jam”. Predictably, they're related to sweets, baking or otherwise. The official English translations roll with the dessert theme, with his spells becoming Parfait, Donuts, Gingerbread, Bundt Cakes, and Cream Pies.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: [[SweetTooth Sweets]], of course. According to his profile in ''Fever 2'', he likes parfaits in particular, and in ''15th Anniversary'', Feli says his absolute favorite candy is swirly lollipops.
* VagueAge: Looks significantly older than the rest of the magic students due to his lanky built, but his exact age is unknown. While there is some confusion regarding his age due to a comment made by Ms. Accord, the Fever 2 manual refers to him as "high-school-aged", while calling the rest of the students "grade-to-middle-school-aged".
* VocalEvolution: Compare his voice in ''Fever 2'' vs. ''Chronicle''. While it's a subtle change, he used to sound much deeper and faster. Ironically, his English voice is ''nothing'' like his current Japanese pitch.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Salt is toxic to him and can even [[OneHitKO knock him out cold]] if he has too much. This paints his desire to turn the beach into candy in a new light; [[HiddenDepths he may just have wanted to enjoy it without risking getting hurt by saltwater.]]
* WeirdnessCoupon: He gets away with randomly passing out candy because no one seems to mind.
* WhatTheHellHero:
** Gave Klug a book with a powerful demon inside for no good reason.
** Forces Amitie to play Puyo with him with the stakes of "winner fights Possessed Klug". His justification being that the winner of the duel is the stronger of the two.
** Wishes for the sea to turn into jelly, '''killing the entire ocean ecosystem.'''
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Subverted. He has the hair, gets called suspicious at times, but he's generally a nice (albeit odd) guy. His [[HatesTheirParent family]], however, are implied to be more straight examples of the trope.

-->''Umm... also, if I win... Will you let me call you brother?''

A humanoid of currently undefined species that attends school at Primp Town. Very shy, she treats Dark Prince like a big brother.
----
* AliceAllusion: Her name is based on the surname of [[{{Literature/AlicesAdventuresInWonderland}} Alice Liddell]] (both are spelled リデル in Japanese). Like Alice, she is portrayed as a curious girl, often asking other characters questions they consider silly or uncomfortable, though she never aims to upset.
* BigBrotherWorship: While not truly related, Lidelle truly admires the Dark Prince in a sibling-like fashion. She also does the same in regards to Draco, looking to her as a CoolBigSis. Draco actually reciprocates this and occasionally talks to Lidelle as if she really was her little sister. Dark Prince, on the other hand, is much more [[AloofBigBrother aloof and stand-offish]], constantly denying the relationship.
* BlushSticker: On her all the time.
* ButtMonkey: At the very start of Raffina's [=WakuWaku=] course in ''Fever 2'' she get's send flying by Otomo and stumbles back on-screen later in a dazed state...only for Raffina to accuse Lidelle of standing in her way, forcing her into a Puyo match.
* CartoonCreature: She has no confirmed species besides being 50% human. Schezo and Witch both think she might be an imp, but she denies it.
* ColorCodedCharacters: All Primp students are designed to feature one of the five Puyo colors prominently in their designs, with Lidelle representing the green color.
* CueTheRain: Her defeat animation in ''15th''.
* CuteOversizedSleeves: Which she provides the page image for. She's presumed to be the same age group as her class, but her gigantic sleeves are as long as her dimunitive stature, which adds to her cuteness.
* DemiHuman: The series doesn't elaborate what her race exactly is, but's it's clear she's not human.
** HornedHumanoid: Very small ones that peak out of her odangos.
** PointyEars: Tufted with hair, no less.
** ExpressiveEars: Perks up or droops down depending on how she feels.
** RaisedByHumans: Demihumans are unlikely to have their children go to human school.
* DemotedToExtra: [[ZigZaggedTrope Back and forth]] after ''15th''. She does not appear in ''7'', returns as a playable character in ''20th'', appears in only three cutscenes in ''Tetris'', becomes playable again in ''Chronicle'', gets cut again from ''Champions'', and she was present as a cameo in only one cutscene in ''Tetris 2'', making her the only character present in the game's launch that was non-playable until patch 1.1.0 [[PromotedToPlayable made her playable again]].
* DrunkOnMilk: She must've drank the same "Secret Drink" Klug had in the latter's story in ''20th Anniversary''. As a result, she's giggling uncontrollably when Klug meets her in his story.
* ElmuhFuddSyndwome: Similar to Klug’s alternate voice, Lidelle’s alternate voice in ''Puyo Puyo Tetris 2'' has her speak this way.
* {{Expy}}: Has elements of Draco (horns, green hair, weak AI) and ''Yo~n''[='=]s Chico. (Small size, ears.) It's probably not a coincidence that Draco borrowed Lidelle's dropset for ''Puyo Puyo 7'' after the former stepped off of [[PutOnABus The Bus]].
* FreakinessShame: She's been ashamed of her horns, but eventually comes to appreciate them after meeting Dark Prince with his "very fine pair of horns" in ''15th''. She still feels shy about her horns in ''20th'', but doesn't express shame about them, at least.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: While she has trouble making friends with other people, she doesn't have this problem with animals and other primitive creatures. She can understand them just fine, and they all seem to like her, even the usually aggressive Onion Pixie.
* FriendlessBackground: She didn't have friends until Amitie and Tartar befriended her. Strangely enough, [[CanonDiscontinuity she tells Baldanders in ''15th Anniversary'' that she wanted "to have a big friend like [him]"]].
* TheFriendsWhoNeverHang: It wasn't until ''Quest'' that she and Tartar got any proper on-screen interactions.
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: She is said to like plushies, while never seen with one she does have a implied friendship with Popoi.
* HiddenDepths: ''20th'' notes that she has acute perception, being able to forecast the weather and find lost items. She's just too shy to bring it up to others.
* InnocentBlueEyes: This blue-eyed demihuman is easily one of the nicest characters in the series, despite her shyness.
* InnocentlyInsensitive:
** When she was up against Schezo in the latter's story mode in ''15th Anniversary'', she utters 'pervert' out of nowhere, trying to add to Schezo's examples of names he doesn't like to be called. Unfortunately for her, she said the one he hates the most.
---> "I'm sorry... Did I offend?"
** She expresses jealously that Dapper Bones doesn't have to worry about his hairstyle... by pointing out that he is bald. Dapper doesn't take it very well.
* InterspeciesFriendship: Flavor dialogue in the Lesson Mode of ''15th'' indicates that she shares one with Popoi.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://youtu.be/-2VmEcOR9xU Rider's Secret Dream.]]"
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5QvFYxHdpA "Lidelle's Earnest Wish"]] in ''20th''.
* LittleMissBadass: At least when she's the player character in a story, she's just as capable of magical feats like her friends. She even puts up a good fight against ''Satan.'' '''Twice!'''
* OddFriendship: She has a good relationship with the Dark Prince, who tried multiple times to boost her confidence. He doesn't like being called "big brother" though.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Lidelle is in the same school class as Amitie, Raffina, etc., but because of her long sleeves, short height, child-like voice and timid personality, she could pass off as someone much younger.
* PacifistWind: Most of her spells involve wind, and she has a rather gentle personality, going as far as to ask other Puyo competitors she plays with to go easy on her or lose the match.
* ShrinkingViolet: She's ridiculously shy and timid.
* InconsistentSpelling: ''Puyo Pop Fever'' couldn't decide between Rider (from the manual), [[http://i.imgur.com/TAd0fCq.png Ridel]] (another romantization), or [[http://i.imgur.com/XT501Rm.png Rita]] (what Amitie says in English). The series settled on "Rider" for a bit, despite the fact that her name in katakana (リデル) is nowhere near close to the usual spelling of Rider (ライダー) and instead resembles some variation of [[JapaneseRanguage Liddel/Riddel]], being based on the surname [[AliceAllusion "Liddel"]]. Indeed, when the English version of ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'' came about, her name was corrected to Lidelle.
* ThemeNaming: ''[[GratuitousItalian Vento, Uragano, Tifone, Tuono]]'' and ''[[GratuitousItalian Arcobaleno]]''. In Translation, they are; ''[[BlowYouAway Wind, Hurricane, Typhoon]]'', ''[[ShockAndAwe Thunder]]'', and ''[[EverythingsBetterWithRainbows Rainbow]]''.
* WeatherManipulation — BlowYouAway[=/=]ShockAndAwe[=/=]ThePowerOfTheSun: Can manipulate wind, lightning, and sunshine; she uses wind a lot, but some of her spells use lightning-like animations.
** ColorCodedElements: Interestingly enough, her clothing is [[color:#11ee11:Wind-Green]] and [[color:#eeee00:Light-Yellow]] with dashes of orange.
* WindIsGreen: Most of her moves involve wind, and it's her most prominent color.

The mysterious schoolteacher of Primp Town who holds the living cat puppet Popoi. She seems sweet, but holds some strange secrets [[TheUnreveal that are still unexplained]].
----
* AllWitchesHaveCats: She constantly carries what she claims to be a black cat puppet.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: In ''Fever'', she sends the students on a hunt for her stolen cane [[spoiler:that turns out not to have been stolen at all]], her cat puppet is [[spoiler:[[Analysis/{{Satan}} the Prince of Darkness]]]], and she very willingly [[spoiler:smashes Raffina over the head with a giant mallet to make her forget what she had learned]]. Later games do not elaborate on this, and her actions can be read as anywhere between TheGadfly to deliberately malicious.
* AmbiguouslyGay: In ''15'', she recruits Rulue as a teacher at her school, and then describes her to Raffina as ''"[[LesYay Very sexy.]]"''
* TheAgeless: ''15th'' reveals she uses anti-aging magic.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Her single player AI (outside of ''15th'' and ''20th's'' story modes) is among the hardest, regularly up there with the FinalBoss characters, and even puts up a fight against Red Amitie, Angelic Feli, Possessed Klug, and Dark Sig.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Or rather, Troll in Sheep's Clothing. While she generally cares well for her students, you'd have to wonder what goes on in her head as she swerves around deeper issues, ranging from passing it off as figments of imagination, to ''literally'' hammering the discussion out of their memories.
* BlindWithoutEm: Her defeat sprite in ''Fever 2'' (in which she looks for her glasses, which have fallen off of her face) implies this, even though she never opens her eyes to begin with.
* ContrivedCoincidence: This is how her cameos in ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'' play out. At the end of Chapter 5, [[spoiler:she tells the cast about a special area they can train in, in order to increase their power and reach the end of time-space]]. She also appears in the final DLC chapter (chapter 10). [[spoiler:Since Ex never met her in the real world and only heard about her through Tee's logs, she is the reason that Ex is able to determine that the dream world he's in doesn't belong to him, but to Tee.]]
* ChuckingChalk: It's listed as her special skill in ''Fever 2''. We can see it in action as her 3rd chain spell, too.
* ConsultingMisterPuppet: Subverted in that the puppet is alive.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Being the host of the game's tournament she is the closest thing to a lead character that ''15th'' has to offer. Aside from her own story and appearances as an opponent she shows up at the end of every story to present the winners with their medallion and also serves as the host of Lesson Mode.
* DealWithTheDevil: Popoi, her puppet, calls himself [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast the Prince of Darkness]] and they have some kind of understanding, [[LeftHanging though what exactly it is has yet to be revealed.]]
* DemotedToExtra: [[ZigZaggedTrope Zigzags]] after ''15th Anniversary''. She didn't appear in ''7'', was made playable again in ''20th Anniversary'', became a cameo in ''Tetris'', became playable again in ''Chronicle'' and didn't appear in ''Tetris 2'' until patch 1.1.0, where she was added to the roster.
* EccentricMentor: ''Nobody'' knows anything about her, other than the fact that she's a good teacher with a talking puppet. Lemres, who seems to know the most, is quiet about his knowledge.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Just like Lemres, her eyes are always shut.
* GrievousHarmWithABody: ''Popoi Lance'', where she chucks her pet at the screen.
* HyperspaceMallet: [[spoiler:She whips one out to smash Raffina upside the head in ''Fever's'' [=HaraHara=] ending.]] Her mallet also causes people hit by it to forget their day.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[http://youtu.be/Swo07Q9J1nc Cheerful Surprise Test]] in ''15th''
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKCm9tns33A "Ms. Accord's Lesson"]] in ''20th'', which is a BootstrappedLeitmotif from ''Fever 1'', coming from the tutorial demo.
* LighterAndSofter: Say what you will about Accord sending her students on a goose chase with no clear purpose or Aesop in mind, but her methods are still a far cry from the Compile-era teachers' test of sending a six-year-old into a dangerous tower filled with malicious monsters.
* LittleBlackDress: Discussed by Dapper Bones in ''15th'', saying that she should try wearing one. [[CovertPervert Popoi doesn't seem to mind.]]
* MagicWand: Flying Cane, which ''triples'' as a pointer stick and a baton.
* MeaningfulName: Ties in with her Spell Theme.
* MusicalAssassin: In ''Fever'' and ''Fever 2''. The series has gradually dropped this in favor of giving her school-themed spells rather than musical ones.
* {{Narrator}}: Despite being part of the casting for ''Puyo Puyo On Stage'' she isn't involved in the plot at all. Rather, she and Popoi comment on the events of the story.
* RobeAndWizardHat: Her choice of attire, though heavily modernized.
* SecretAIMoves: When faced as a Raid Boss in ''Tetris 2'', she has an special ability that prevents the player from rotating their pieces for a few seconds.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: In ''Fever'', she used musical terms. It slowly shifted into school-related terms in ''Fever 2'', when her animations were changed.
* {{Troll}}: Pretends she's out of cookies when Lemres is delirious after a lack of sugar... And then eats a cream puff after he leaves.
* TheUnreveal: Accord has a suspiciously high track record of withholding information...
** In ''Fever's'' [=HaraHara=] Course, what, exactly, was her reason for sending her students on a wild goose chase looking for her "misplaced" flying cane [[spoiler:that she had all along? As well as [[EasyAmnesia wiping Raffina's memory of it after she found out it wasn't missing?]]]] Sega's lips are still sealed.
** She also dodges the issues involving Amitie's hat, just passing it off as Amitie's imagination, and diverts Sig's attention from his red hand when asked about it.
* VagueAge: She claims that wizards like her are capable of using anti-aging magic in order to look younger than they are. Now, she doesn't actually confirm that she practices this herself, but it does make one wonder considering she doesn't look very old for a teacher.

Ms Accord's black cat puppet, Popoi is usually an assistant. He, much like Accord, is shrouded in mystery, and little is known about who or what he is, though he claims to be "The Prince of Darkness". Takes the place as ''Fever''[='=]s villain, appearing suddenly at the end of the [=WakuWaku=] and [=HaraHara=] courses.
----
* AutobotsRockOut: As the final boss of ''Fever'', his theme, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXAD7gGFp_4 "Ultimate Legend of the Untrained Demon King"]] plays, and has a distinctly more intense tone in comparison to the general battle themes. And it rocks.
* BigBadWannabe: In ''Fever'', considering that while he's the end boss he's not really that involved in the plot. Raffina doesn't even consider him the real threat.
* ByTheLightsOfTheirEyes: He has his eyes glow in the dark.
* CatsAreMean: Only in the first ''Fever'' title, where he plays the role of the BigBadWannabe.
* CatStereotype: He fits two of them - the "black cats are often witches' pets" one since he's Ms. Accord's assistant, and the "black cats are evil" one since he's the final boss of ''Fever''.
* DemonicDummy: Claims to be the Prince of Darkness.
* DemotedToExtra: Following ''Fever'', he's usually Accord's sidekick and his only other playable appearance is in ''Quest''. Given that he's just supposed to be a puppet, this makes sense.
* DubNameChange: His Black Popoi form is known as Evil Popoi in the localization of ''Champions''.
* {{Expy}}: Of Carbuncle, as ''Fever''[='=]s pet with GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere tendencies.
* {{Familiar}}: Ms. Accord's.
* FinalBoss: Of ''Fever'''s [=WakuWaku=] and [=HaraHara=] courses ([[{{Superboss}} Carbuncle]] notwithstanding in the latter).
* FriendlyEnemy: If he isn't the villain, he's helping Accord with teaching and running a shop in ''20th Anniversary''.
* FunSize: Easily fits onto Accord's shoulder despite being a cat.
* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: It does not help that Popoi's LivingShadow form never appeared after ''Fever'' (Not counting ''Quest''), meaning it is never explored in the plot.
* HyperspaceMallet: He admits that he can ''turn'' into one for Accord, and his alternate form Evil Popoi suddenly has one after you evolve him the first time. When Schezo attempts to question him about that in ''Chronicle'', [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial he is quick to deny it]].
* HonestAxe: Tried this with Amitie, as seen above.
* HurricaneOfPuns: English ''Puyo Tetris'' gives him a meowthful of puns to work with in place of his VerbalTic in the Japanese script.
* InterspeciesFriendship:
** ''15th'' reveals that he loves it when Lidelle visits to play with him.
** The same game also has him speak very fondly of Baldanders, in Lesson Mode flavor text.
* LivingShadow: Or something close in Boss form.
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: Tiny puppet by default, grows into a giant shadow as a boss fight. Though we don't see him actually morph, Accord certainly had everything to do with his up-size.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Calls himself the [[{{Satan}} Prince of Darkness]].
* PerversePuppet: [[SubvertedTrope Not quite.]] He plays himself up as this as the final boss of ''Fever'', but it was a ploy by Ms. Accord. In ''15th'', he's perverse in... [[CovertPervert the other sense]]. He comments he'd like to see Accord in a tight little black dress.
* PunchClockVillain: He only "stole" Accord's wand to serve as the final obstacle in a test.
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: Supposed to be black, but is colored purple. This contrasts from his Evil Popoi self, who is pitch black.
* SignificantBirthDate: February 22, Cat Day.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: ''[[StarPower Galaxy]]'' [[VerbalTic (meow),]] ''[[StarPower Shooting Star, Stardust Whip,]]'' and ''[[StarPower Black Hole.]]''
* TailSlap: Whip meow!
* TheUnfought: In ''Fever 1'', if the requirements to [[spoiler:fight the secret boss Carbuncle]] are met, Raffina doesn't fight Popoi at all.

A pink minnow that resides in the ocean just off of Primp's beaches. In reality, he's actually a human boy using a magical artifact that allows him to take the form of a fish, in order to escape his royal duties at his castle. He's quite crass and a stereotypical royal-stuckup.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorWildlife: He's a pink fish. May be {{justified|trope}} given he has pink hair and mostly-pink clothes as a human, which could have influenced his odd colours as a fish.
* AscendedExtra: He had no particular importance in ''Fever'', being just Raffina's third opponent, but became a major player in the plot of ''Fever 2'', with two of the game's stories (Raffina's [=WakuWaku=] and Sig's [=HaraHara=]) revolving around him.
* BattleButler: Both his actual butler, Otomo, and Sig.
* BlindIdiotTranslation: His official name used to be, believe it or not, "Prince of Ocean". ''Tetris'' has his name changed to the more correct "Ocean Prince".
* CovertPervert: Emphasizing on "covert", as he decides to hide ''under Feli's skirt'' in Feli's story in ''20th''. He gets kicked for his troubles.
* DemotedToExtra: [[ZigZaggedTrope Zigzags]] this after ''15th Anniversary''. He didn't appear in ''7'', was made playable again in ''20th Anniversary'', became a cameo in ''Tetris'', became playable again in ''Chronicle'', was cut again in ''Champions'', and didn't appear in ''Tetris 2'' until patch 1.1.0, where he was added to the roster.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: A four-point star in both of his eyes.
* {{Expy}}: Of Suketoudara's "talking fish" thing.
* ForcedTransformation: Subverted. Raffina assumed this was the case and undoes the "curse" placed upon him, but it turns out Salde really ''wanted'' to be a fish in order to escape his royal duties.
* TheGadfly: It is implied at the end of his ''20th Anniversary'' story mode that he pulls pranks on Otomo as he tries to avoid his royal duties.
* GildedCage: He thinks of life at his castle as this. He can only leave by sneaking out of it, and even then he often needs Lemres's help to turn him into a fish to actually do so. And yet, whenever he does pull that off, Otomo is on his trail, begging for him to return to his castle.
* HiddenDepths: His story in ''20th'' reveals that he's actually grown to dislike his royal life, always feeling trapped within the confines of his castle.
* HumanityEnsues: Inverted; The Ocean Prince is a prince that turned himself into a minnow by magic to [[spoiler:get away from his duties at the castle and be free, thus why his butler is always looking for him]]. During Raffina's [=WakuWaku=] course in ''Fever 2'', he's captured and returned to his human form, playing it straight. [[spoiler:He returns to normal when he gets the Lantern of the Stars back from Possessed Klug, though.]]
* InnocentlyInsensitive: He has his moments in his ''20th Anniversary'' story mode.
** He claims that, despite his life of wealth and fame as a prince, he envies the commoners because they have no rank or status within society. Unfortunately for him, he makes this claim in front of [[RichBitch Raffina]].
** In exchange for hiding him from Otomo's pursuit, Sig asks the Ocean Prince to get a bug for him. He thought the bug was meant to be food for [[TranquilFury Sig]]...
* {{Hypocrite}}: He longs to escape the duties of royalty and live a simple, free life...and yet still expects to be waited on hand and foot. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], since he’s been royalty since birth and it’s likely the only way he knows to get things done.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He has no real hatred for Otomo and plays with him when his butler can't recognize him. He also wants to turn Otomo into a fish too so that his butler can enjoy a carefree life.
* LaterInstallmentWeirdness: In terms of gameplay in Fever-based modes, Ocean Prince has always been a character that, while weak in chaining out of Fever, he's usually the most powerful character in terms of Fever chains. ''20th'' oddly changes his chaining power to put him on par with the likes of Ms. Accord... who is the other way around in terms of chaining power. This is implied to be an oversight, as ''Chronicle'' puts his chaining power on par with his earlier appearances.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''15th'' gives him [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNcKzNB9H_4 "Ocean Prince ~Graceful Wandering~"]].
** ''20th'' has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WC49MZT-jlw "Royal Dignity"]].
* MakingASplash: His spells.
* TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody: Briefly mentioned at one point, when he got turned back into a human in ''Fever 2'', his food tastes change:
--> "Normally I wouldn't consider [the Donguri Gaeru] delicious... but my palate has been altered by this form."
* MorphicResonance: Apart from the crown and medallion he wears in his two forms, several physical traits of his fishy form match his appearance as a human: the color pattern of his fishy form's underbelly matches with the clothes he wears, his limbs are of the same color as his gloves, and they have the same ExoticEyeDesigns.
* OddFriendship: According to one of the Drama [=CDs=], his friendship with Lemres is seen this way InUniverse. This is explained by him being the one who inspired Lemres to leave his own home and explore the world, and, in return, Lemres helps Salde turn into a fish whenever he wants to avoid his royal duties.
* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: Possibly, if the realm he rules is actually in the ocean, which seems to be implied by his PunnyName.
* OverlyLongName: His real name is Prince Salde Canarl Shellbrick the Third. Even he doesn't use his full name when addressing who he is — he merely introduces himself as "Prince Shellbrick III" to Suketoudara in ''Tetris''.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: The Pink Feminine-Looking Boy for Sig's Blue Boy, in Sig's [=HaraHara=] Course in ''Fever 2''.
* ThePrankster: While he's usually known to give Otomo a hard time looking for him, ''20th'' reveals that he's also quite skilled in pranking as well, doing things like getting Otomo to hug a sea cucumber while he was sleeping, or even tricking him into drinking saltwater.
* PrettyBoy: His human form looks ''very'' feminine, to Raffina's disappointment (she expected a PrinceCharming given Otomo's description).
* PrinceCharmless: Described by Raffina as such in ''Fever 2'' upon realizing he's the PrinceCharming she was trying to find. Otomo prefers to think he's Prince Charming, even though he's not.
* PrincessesPreferPink: Gender inverted. He's a pink-colored minnow/pink-haired boy who happens to be a prince.
* PromotedToPlayable: ''Quest'' marks the first fully playable appearance of his human form.
* PunnyName:
** Prince ''Shell''brick the Third is an oceanic creature.
** Japanese version only: The name of his fish-form, "Sakana Ōji" ("Fish Prince"), is actually short for his given name: '''Sa'''lde-'''Cana'''rl.
* RealMenWearPink: His fishy form ''is'' pink. Even when turned back into a human, his clothes are mostly pink.
* RichBoredom: He constantly flees from his castle and pulls pranks on Otomo because he dislikes the 'dull' life of a prince. He tells Raffina that he feels confined despite all the riches and fame he has.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Particularly since his redesign in ''20th''. To [[CutenessProximity Schezo]], he's as adorable as Donguri Gaeru and Onion Pixie.
* RoyalBrat: This guy is even blowing off his royal duties. Otomo tries to teach him how to behave like a proper prince, to no avail.
* SignatureMove: Similarly to Rulue, every appearence of his has Dolphin Smash as his first spell, and Trident Billow as his strongest attack in his fish form.
* SignificantBirthDate: He is a Pisces.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: Most of his spells mentioned marine life or other ocean-based things (Dolphin Smash, Whale Charge, Crust Guard...)
* StealthPun: In all of his main-series appearences, his first spell is Dolphin Smash. In France, the Crown Prince is called "Dauphin". "Dauphin" means ''dolphin''.
* StrippedToTheBone: His defeat animation has him left to a skeleton.
* SuperDeformed: In his fish form, his arms got shorter and his head got bigger since ''20th''.
* TerrestrialSeaLife: He, like Suketoudara before him, is an anthropomorphic fish who can somehow breathe above water. The breathing on land part can be justified since the Prince actually is biologically a human, but willingly chose to become a fish to avoid his royal duties.
* UnexplainedRecovery: He was eaten ''twice'', and still appears in new games.
* YeOldeButcheredEnglish: In ''Fever'' as well as {{Fan Translation}}s of the following games, he is given this dialect from his Katakana-heavy speech. This is absent in ''Tetris''.

A demon possessing Klug's book, Possessed Klug (aka "[[NoNameGiven The Demon]]") is ''very'' different than the nerd everyone's used to. Takes the place as ''Fever 2'''s villain, appearing at the end of all three [=HaraHara=] courses.
----
* AllIsWellThatEndsWell: Worries, but brushes his first defeat off as a bump in his plan. [[spoiler:Begins to seriously worry after he loses a second item.]]
* AmbiguousSituation: He appears in place of Klug's adult form in ''7'', he exact meaning of why that is remains unclear. It could just be a case of Klug botching the transformation spell, Klug secretly aspiring to be ''like'' the demon, or a hint that the demon will possess him again in the future, maybe even permanently. This is also hinted by how Klug’s {{Leitmotif}} includes the Demon’s theme from ''Fever 2''.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Has a noticeably darker skin color then regular Klug.
* AntiVillain: No matter how smug he is, he just wants his body back. It is not known if he ever did anything even remotely evil before being sealed.
* AscendedExtra:
** While he could already be seen in Klug's book in ''Fever'', his presence went entirely unacknowledged and he had no known background yet. In ''Fever 2'' he became the FinalBoss, gaining both a backstory and his Possessed Klug form.
** In a reversal of their usual roles it's Possessed Klug who appears as a playable character in the mobile title ''Kotodaman'', while Klug himself only appears as a sealed spirit.
* AssholeVictim: On one hand, he's cocky and smug. On the other, [[spoiler:he was the victim of an undeserved prank that's left him without a body for decades at least.]]
* AutobotsRockOut: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plDViKTgYPI Crimson Wave!]] certainly doesn't hold back on the guitar.
* BadPowersBadPeople: Is the second evil character that has dark intentions, coming after Doppelganger Arle [[spoiler:and predating Ecolo, Rafisol and Squares]].
* BadassCape: Wears a ridiculously big and red cape, held onto his body with chains. It's tough enough to take damage for him, too.
* BadassInANiceSuit: His [[https://puyonexus.com/wiki/File:Img138306_l.png “Even Stranger” alt]] in ''Quest'' bestows him with both immense power and a very snazzy suspenders-and-jacket combo with [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver red]] and [[PurpleIsPowerful purple]] accents.
* BigBad: Technically, he's this in ''Fever 2'', but see below...
* BigBadWannabe: Under normal circumstances, he would be the BigBad in ''Fever 2'''s [=HaraHara=] courses, being responsible for their plots' creation and keeping the items the main characters are looking for, but Possessed Klug himself is treated like just another obstacle to Raffina and Sig's goals, and both ignore him after getting what they want. Only Akuma and Lemres regard him with at least some seriousness. Akuma tries to obstruct Sig from entering the ruins and gives him a charm that prevents the demon from taking over his body, while Lemres ropes Amitie into helping by challenging her to a Puyo battle in which the winner would go on to rescue Klug.
* BigNo: When sealed again.
* BigRedDevil: If that shadow's to be believed.
* {{Bookworm}}: The original demon was one. Apparently, reading books was all he did before being sealed, which happened because [[BatmanGambit he was convinced to open a book]] he didn't know would seal whoever opened it. It reached the point that he had, according to the 25th Anniversary Drama CD, prepared a water-repellant spell that he'd apply on all books (even the one that got him sealed) to prevent them from getting wet.
* BreakingOldTrends: Possessed Klug references the series's tendency to create [[EvilCounterpart doppelgangers]] from main characters (most notably Doppelganger Arle and Rafisol). However, Possessed Klug is not a doppelganger, instead being Klug affected by a DemonicPossession, but he's not even the EvilCounterpart of the character he looks similar to — Possessed Klug is the EvilCounterpart of Sig.
* BullyingADragon: If Raffina loses against him, he comments on how ''she'' was the one to take a beating after she boasts about being able to thrash him.
* TheBusCameBack: After making a cameo as Klug's adult transformation in ''7'' and alternate costume in ''20th'', he makes his triumphant return as a separate playable character in ''Tetris 2'''s second wave of [=DLC=].
* TheCameo:
** He appears as Klug's adult transformation in ''7''.
** In ''Tetris'''s Chapter 9, he's mentioned by Klug when he tells Schezo the mere sight of Sig made his book start acting crazy.
** While absent from the game proper he does make a brief surprise appearance on the Drama CD that came with collectors editions of ''Chronicle''.
* CapeSwish: Does this in his ''20th'' by holding it in his hands and turning.
* CardCarryingVillain: Makes no effort to hide his real identity or motives.
* ChainedByFashion: Uses golden chains as a necklace, which holds his clock and his cape.
* CheshireCatGrin: Rare edition; though Klug's grins are full of teeth, Possessed Klug doesn't seem to have teeth ''period''. Played more straight in ''Quest'', where his golden form has a very sharp grin.
* ConceptsAreCheap: Double Subverted; Possessed Klug states several times that he took the three items and took over Klug's body to [[spoiler:bring his body back]], but he never states "why".
* ContrivedCoincidence: His existence and his demise. Three items are required to unseal the demon residing in Klug's book... which happened to be delivered by Lemres to Primp at the same time. Then, Amitie, Sig and Raffina are asked by different characters to retrieve an item — the very same items that, when taken away from the demon, would seal it again.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Subverted. As a spirit sealed in Klug's book, the demon takes on a very cartoony look, with small gold eyes and a flat-toothed grin. During ''Fever'' and, until you find how he really acts in ''Fever 2'', this gives the impression that it's some sort of prankster spirit sealed in a book.
* DemonicPossession: It's [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin on the label]] in ''Champions''.
* DemotedToExtra: After ''Fever 2'', Possessed Klug only makes occasional appearances via bonus content or cameos, such as Klug's adult form in ''7'' or as one of the alternative characters that can be purchased in ''20th''. It took until ''Tetris 2'' to return as an independent playable character.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution:
** Inverted. Klug and Possessed Klug had different AI, dropsets, and chain power in ''Fever 2''. However, because Possessed Klug is considered an alternative character to Klug in ''20th'', they now share the same AI (only when the "Core AI" code is activated), dropsets, and chain power.
** Inverted back to its original state in ''Tetris 2'', when he returned as a playable character. Possessed Klug regained his ''Fever 2'' dropset, diverging him from Klug compared to his appearance in ''20th'', and they have different [=AIs=].
* DubNameChange: A weird Zig-Zagged case, somewhat similar to Onion Pixie. While his Japanese name, Ayashii Kurūku (あやしいクルーク), more accurately translates to "Suspicious Klug", he is referred to as Strange Klug even by in-game English text... except when he's called Ayashii Klug. Eventually this whole matter would be settled (to the disgruntlement of the fandom) in ''Champions'' by just calling him "Possessed Klug" in the English version. However, Japanese merchandise revealed in September 2019 gave Possessed Klug some merch... [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EELrfbuUwAAFblg?format=jpg&name=medium and he is now Possessed Klug regardless of region.]]
* EarlyBirdCameo: You can clearly see his little spirit form appearing in some of Klug's sprites in ''Fever'' before he shows up in the next game.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** He's surprised to find out Raffina is not in the slightest interested in saving Klug after she finds out what happened to him.
** It's also implied in ''Puyo Puyo Tetris 2'' that he works from within the book to protect Klug from [[spoiler:Marle's corruption]] (though that might just be due to not wanting to get caught up in the ensuing insanity.)
** In the 25th Anniversary Drama CD, after possessing Klug yet again, all he does is unseal a puppy (for the sole reason that he finds being sealed to be really boring). Klug wakes up later on to still have the puppy with him.
* EvilCounterpart: To Sig, as both are halves of the same demon, with opposite morality.
* EvilGloating: And it's ''all he ever does.''
* EvilCostumeSwitch:
** Turns Klug's suit from purple to red, unties his bowtie, dons a cape, untucks his shirt, and messes up his hair.
** Judging from the reactions of the other characters, it is unclear whether or not the costume switch is visible to the other characters in-universe, i.e. is just [[ColorCodedForYourConvenience convenient shorthand for the players’ eyes only]]. Raffina seems not to notice anything different until [[EvilGloating pointed out]], and Amitie could tell by his wearing different ''glasses,'' which are ''unchanged'' to the players.
* EvilSoundsDeep: While all his appearances qualify, special mention should go to his English voice in ''Tetris 2'', which strains suspension of disbelief regarding what should be possible for the pubescent vocal chords of Klug's body.
* ExpansionPackPast: If you read the Library in ''Fever 2'', you'll find a story titled "Record of the Sealing". According to the book, a man [[spoiler:bought a book that was used ''only'' for sealing souls, and would seal any one soul when opened. Upon showing it to his friends, they decided to travel up to the castle nearby to seal the demon that lived there, knowing he [[{{Bookworm}} liked books and would read anything without question.]] When the demon fell for the trick of opening the book, only the "evil soul" was sucked in; what remained of the "good soul" became Sig's ancestor.]]
* ExpressiveAccessory: Both the LivingShadow and Klug's spirit have expressions alongside him, even [[spoiler:matching his surprise when Sig and Raffina walk off with his items]].
* FashionableAsymmetry: Added a charm and changed the time on Klug's stopwatch.
* FinalBoss: He's the final opponent in all three [=HaraHara=] courses in ''Fever 2''.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Gets a bit of it in Fever 1, despite him not debuting until Fever 2.
** The manual, in both English and Japanese, describes a rumor that Klug is possessed by a demonic spirit.
** While the demon takes a more jester-esque appearance for the most part, if Klug makes a strong enough chain, it takes a much stronger form while Klug laughs maniacally. In later games, this would be where Klug uses Gravity Strike.
* FourEyesZeroSoul: And despite it not being noticeable, those glasses are the most prominent difference in-universe from regular Klug (no, not his red clothes, tanned skin or lack of a hat), at least judging by Amitie.
* GoldColoredSuperiority: His ''Quest'' variant Yellow Possessed Klug, where the demon turns bright gold rather than his usual red.
* GratuitousLatin: Some of his spells have Latin names. In ''Fever 2'', they are spells that Klug would otherwise use, but in ''20th'', he has some unique spells that also have Latin names, such as "Anima"[[note]]"Soul"[[/note]] and "Rubor Vini"[[note]]"Red Wine"[[/note]].
* HumanityEnsues: The original demon is stated to have turned into a human boy after losing the part of his soul that was sealed in the Tome. He apparently also lost his memory of his life before the change, which is probably why [[spoiler: Sig]] seems unaware of the demonic ancestry in his bloodline.
* JerkassToOne: A downplayed case of being Cruel to One. Possessing Sig's body is his sole goal, and while he doesn't really care about the well-being of anyone else, he'd rather leave them alone unless they are actively in his way to Sig (contrast his retaliation against Amitie and Raffina in ''Fever 2'', when they tried to take the items that fueled his possession, or attacking Roquier in ''Quest'''s Story Mode when he got in his way in his search of Sig, to his 25th Anniversary Drama CD appearance where he mostly dismisses Amitie, Ringo, and Ally and is solely interested in the sealed puppy).
* LaserGuidedKarma: Inverted. [[spoiler:The man who wrote ''Record of the Sealing'' stated that he didn't know what evil deeds the demon had ever done. If this is the case, he just lived alone in his castle, doing nothing noticeable until he was sealed away.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: The [[https://youtu.be/BcDD8mRKiXA?t=22 main melody of his battle theme, ''Crimson Wave!'']], serves as one for him. It also reoccurs in all of Klug's and Sig's character themes in ''15th'' and ''20th'' (starting at [[https://youtu.be/iqrtY4zx8_I?t=1 0:01 for "I'm the Greatest, Ever"]], [[https://youtu.be/JjTRyWCKg4o?t=27 0:27 for "In the Middle of a Stroll"]], [[https://youtu.be/c7J-yu1Fz6I?t=53 0:53 for "Nebula Step"]] and [[https://youtu.be/WKzusWPg75U?t=47 0:48 for "Easygoing March"]]), though it is generally more difficult to notice in Sig's themes, due to being remixed into a major key for them.
* LightIsNotGood: While normally DarkIsEvil, his Yellow Possessed Klug alt in ''Quest'' has his normally-red clothes, shadow and book changed to bright yellow and white. He's still the same, evil demon bent on hunting Sig down.
** In addition, his English alternate voice in ''Tetris 2'' has him swap out all mentions of darkness with that of light.
* LivingShadow: Has a giant red one that looks nearly identical to his form in the book.
* LonersAreFreaks: ''Record of the Sealing'' stated that he lived alone in his castle, which might explain his antisocial nature.
* LostInTranslation: Or, in this case, a lack of translation. Possessed Klug retains "Hydrangea" as his final spell in the English version of ''Tetris 2'', but Sig doesn't (using "Cobalt" instead), removing the significance of both having the same final spell.
* MagicAIsMagicA: Defied. Even if we're never given a clear image of what the magic in this world is, all things that fly/float often have wings or "flying" in the name, like "magical flying cane" or characters like [[CuteMonsterGirl Draco, Harpy,]] and [[DependingOnTheWriter Dark Prince]]. However, Possessed Klug's [[SoulJar book]] is floating without any source of magic around it.
* MilkingTheGiantCow: His laughing sprite, as well as a few of his spells.
* MotorMouth: In both ''Fever 2'' and ''20th Anniversary'', he manages to fit in at least seven words within one or two seconds.
* MythologyGag:
** Towards the ''Madou Monogatari'' series and its tendency to have red, evil lookalikes of other characters.
** As for Nyx, Ignis just had to be followed by another word ending with an "s" sound — just like most of Doppelganger Arle's spells (Abyss, Chaos, [[{{Engrish}} Labyrins]], Eclipse, Grand Cross).
* NeatFreak: His special skill listed on ''Fever 2'''s website is "cleaning".
* NerdGlasses: Large oval frames, just like Klug's. [[spoiler:Amitie claims they're a different pair, even though they look exactly the same.]]
* NoSell: [[spoiler:It's implied he's the reason Sig and Klug were not affected by Marle's corruption in ''Tetris 2''.]]
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: He's never properly named, [[spoiler:called "Demon" and "evil spirit" in ''Record of the Sealing'']], and is known only by Possessed Klug.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: A {{bookworm}} that never left his castle. When trapped in Klug's book, his evil side looks like a LivingShadow.
* PetTheDog: Surprisingly enough, [[spoiler:the 25th Anniversary Drama CD has him unseal a puppy from its prison, even if it was admittedly because he found being sealed to be really dull...]]
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: Despite being called an "evil spirit", the evilest thing he has done in the entire franchise so far was possess Klug, gloat a bunch, and then immediately get beat up by Sig, Raffina and Amitie in quick succession. {{Lampshaded|Trope}} during a ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' parody in ''Drama CD#4'':
-->''Amitie'': "Found you, Evil General of the Garbage Puyo Empire! Out with it, what are you doing here!?"
-->''P!Klug'': "I was cleaning up the town's litter, then wanted to go to the library, but got assaulted by a fish and almost had my book stolen from me by a pair of ghosts."
-->''Lidelle'': "Um... That... doesn't sound particularly evil..."
* PopularityPower: He quickly became an EnsembleDarkhorse after appearing in ''Fever 2'', with most fans liking him more than Klug.
* PowerMakesYourVoiceDeep: In Klug's body, his voice is a significantly deeper variant of Klug's.
* PowerFloats: His final spell, ''Hydrangea'', lifts him off the ground.
* PowersViaPossession: {{Inverted|Trope}} in ''Fever 2'', where Possessed Klug uses some of Klug's spells. The demon seems to be limited by Klug's lack of magical prowess, as he laments that he would be much more powerful in his normal body. In later games this is averted and Possessed Klug uses his own spell set independent from Klug's, though Ignis is retained from both Klug's original appearances and his own debut.
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* RedOniBlueOni: For being covered with the color red, he's actually a blue oni; he's actually a lot calmer than Klug himself is.
* ReluctantMonster: He never did anything wrong [[TheShutIn (never even leaving his castle)]] before being the victim of a very cruel prank that ripped half his soul from his body. He possesses Klug with the goal of returning to his previous body, as he is otherwise unable to move, being stuck in a book. On the other hand, he is fairly smug about all this.
* RuleOfPerception: The only in-game difference between Klug and Possessed Klug is the glasses they wear, according to Amitie.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: One eye is almost always obscured by a flashed frame, and can be viewed as more unsettling than both frames.
* SealedEvilInACan: Is a red spirit bound to the pages of a book, with its seal breaking being the driving plot of ''Fever 2''.
* ShapedLikeItself: Played with. It takes Possessed Klug revealing his plans to both Raffina and Amitie for the two to realize that the man that looks like Klug that's wearing different colors and altered his outfit isn't exactly Klug... and yet they still call him Klug.
* TheShutIn: Apparently never left his castle before being sealed.
* SignatureMove: Has his own Hydrangea spell, though it's very different from Sig's version.
* SignificantBirthDate: June 16 ([[NumberOfTheBeast 6/16]]), the same birthday as Sig.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: In ''Quest''. His monologue lines make it very clear that his main motivation for going on quests is to chase Sig down, even if he has to scour through all of Pwurp Island to archive that goal.
* SuddenlyVoiced: In a way and not that we get to hear it for ourselves, but Klug getting yelled at, by a voice in his book, in ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'' is the first time we ever get a hint of the demon being able to vocally express himself while stuck in his sealed spirit form.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: [[spoiler:The demonic half of Sig's soul.]]
* ThemeNaming: Played with. He shares ''Nebula'' and ''Ignis'' with Klug, but then uses ''Oxblood''. A new spell from ''20th'', ''Anima'', can bring you to [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit several]] [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psyche_%28psychology%29 different]] [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anima_and_animus things]]. "Rubor Vini" is "Wine Red"; you can either take this as a color for red or a sin. His final spell, ''[[PowerFloats Hydrangea]]'', he shares with Sig, but has a '''very''' different animation for it, with all of his power going into the demonic LivingShadow.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: When he loses, he either looks to the sky and sighs[[note]]in ''Fever 2'', though you could see as him about to fall down[[/note]] or just sits down on the floor[[note]]in ''20th Anniversary''[[/note]]. In the ending cutscenes for all the [=HaraHara=] courses, he doesn't yell or try and run away, but just seems to accept being sealed once more.
* ThrowingDownTheGauntlet: [[spoiler:Whines "Come back!" when Sig and the Ocean Prince just walk away after beating him.]]
* TranquilFury: ''Quest'' notes that he is far more furious about being sealed away then his calm behavior let's on.
* UnexplainedAccent: In ''20th'''s Mini Fever, Mega Fever and Pair Battle modes, he pronounces certain numbers differently than Klug, such as "ichi", "roku", and "hachi"[[note]]"one", "six" and "eight"[[/note]], pronouncing them as "ee-ch", "rouk", and "hah-ch" instead of "ee-chi", "rouk-u", and "hah-chi".
* TheUnreveal: The flavor text for his 7-Star card in ''Quest'' briefly teases the reveal of his true name, only to cut it off and describe the rest of the text as faint and unreadable.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Similar to Sig's spirit barely anyone ever pays any mind to his spirit form in Klug's book. Not even Klug himself, which is especially odd when the book starts to act up and yell at him in ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'' and Klug never mentions the demon at all, almost as if he wasn't even aware of his presence in the book.
* VillainBall: Says his plan out loud. '''Three times.'''
* WickedCultured: He looks suave for a ''Puyo'' villain, [[spoiler:owned a castle when he had a body, and was a bookworm by nature]].
* WouldHurtAChild: Aside from regularly using Klug as an unwilling host body and his stated goal to assimilate Sig, he also shows no scruples against using the [[spoiler:puyofied]] Primp Students to [[spoiler:battle]] or [[spoiler:risking the possibility of getting Klug (and himself) caught up in a massive explosion]] in ''Puyo Puyo Quest'''s story mode. It should be noted, however, that these are very much acts of despair, done after he has already panicked at the prospect of ending up inside the book again.
* WorfHadTheFlu: Is handily defeated three times in a row in ''Fever 2'', before he is even able to do much as the BigBad. The demon himself notes several times that he is unable to use his full power while stuck in Klug's body, implying that he has to rely on the magic power of his host body and won't be able to regain his full strength unless he is able to restore his old self.
* YouFool: Calls Klug an idiot for unsealing him.

A kind demon in the form of a blue teddy bear, and curator of Primp Town's museum. He's one of the wiser residents of Primp Town, but is known for his violent vocal changes.
----
* TheCameo: Mini Feli holds an Akuma-shaped teddy bear in ''7''.
* CreepyDoll: Or in this case, teddy bear.
* FloatingLimbs: His head is notably detached from the rest of his body.
* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: Or rather, Friendly Neighborhood Demon.
* HighClassGlass: To bring out his scholarly sophistication.

* NiceGuy: A kind and encouraging soul, who has Primp's safety at heart, to the point of dedicating his wish to the town's protection, in his ''15th Anniversary'' ending.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: He has very good intentions, wishing that no demon would be able to enter the town (he's already a resident to begin with, so he's unaffected).
* PunnyName: A mix between "aku" (evil), and "kuma" (bear). Putting both together also makes the word for "demon".
* Really700YearsOld: It's uncertain how old he exactly is, but he claims he's an "old man" as a long-lived demon.
* RunningGag: ''Fever 2'' wallpapers were fond of sneaking Akuma into their art. 1049* SecretSecretKeeper: He seems to know about Sig's demonic origins, as he gives him a charm in ''Fever 2'' to prevent Possessed Klug from taking over Sig's body, but Akuma never tells Sig what the charm's purpose was.
* SequelNonEntity: He still got a cameo in ''7'', but has since vanished from the series, outside of ''Quest''.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: On top of his VerbalTic, his spells include Hindi words (Agni=Fire, Nadii=River, ashvaH=Horse, etc.)
* SuddenlyShouting: His voice transitions between his normal, low register and shrieking at the top of his voice, with no middle ground to speak of. This is strangely reflected in his Fever dropset where his first half is the basic pairs, and the second half suddenly drops the threes and fours.
* VerbalTic: "-kuma."

Apart form the wings, there's nothing that hints that this Baldanders is anything like the mythical creature.
* SequelNonEntity: The last we hear of him was in ''15th Anniversary'', outside of Quest, where he returns and Feli gets an alt dressing up like him.

--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever
--> '''Voice Actor:''' Makoto Yasumura (Japanese), Mark Atherlay (English, ''Puyo Pop Fever'')

-->''Call the fashion police!''

A flamboyantly gay skeleton who is very interested in fashion, and often criticizes the appearances of those around him. He's currently awaiting the day when he can finally reunite with his long-lost lover. Also, in ''Puyo Puyo Fever 2'', he runs the item shop.
----
* AllGaysArePromiscuous: While no sex is mentioned, he shows interest in multiple characters all within the same game despite having a lover he's waiting to reunite with. In ''15th Anniversary'', there's Lemres, Zoh, Dark Prince, not to mention a win quote against Ocean Prince:
-->"Be sure to invite a lot of nice gentlemen to the ball."
* AlwaysCamp: Fashionista that isn't afraid to tell off the unfashionable, sprinkles French in his spells, a bit of a drama king, into men...yep, he checks out.
* AnimalMotifs: Each game has little purple bats that appear with him in at least one animation, and the paper his letters are written on in ''Fever 2'' has bat designs.
* ArtificialStupidity: His AI never rotates his puyos.
* AscendedExtra: Was merely a minor opponent in ''Fever'', but became far more prominent in ''Fever 2'' as both a shopkeeper and [[spoiler:the original owner of the Memory of Chu, an item that a small sub-plot outside the main story revolves around.]]
* BerserkButton:
** Making even slightly negative comments about his appearance is a good way to set him off.
** Another one seems to be "mocking" his fashion advice, such as when Arle briefly considers borrowing a hat from Amitie. (Whose hat Dapper Bones thinks looks ridiculous.)
* BittersweetEnding: The ending to his story in ''15th Anniversary'' is this, somewhat. [[spoiler:While he is one of the few people to have his wish granted (specifically, a reunion with his missing lover), he uses ambiguous wording when making the wish, that leaves him stuck not knowing when his wish will actually come true.]]
* CampGay: Disturbingly so.
* {{Crossdresser}}: There are a few [[http://i.imgur.com/BOE9m.png quotes]] that imply this. Whether he's [[WholesomeCrossdresser wholesome]] or [[CreepyCrossdresser creepy]] is up to you.
* TheDeadHaveEyes: Well, one eye, anyway.
* DemBones: Helps that he's undead.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: On top of the severely mismatched eyes, his right eye has rings in it that no other character has.
* {{Expy}}: Takes Skeleton-T's role as ''Fever''[='=]s talking skeleton.
* TheFashionista: And he ''will'' tell you if you're not fashionable.
* [[FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire Friendly Neighborhood Skeleton]]: His fashion evaluations may be harsh, but he seems to be on good terms with many of the other characters. A magazine article in the library in ''Fever 2'' implies that at least some people in town might still be frightened of him, however.
* GlowingEyelightsOfUndeath: But only in one eye.
* GoingCommando: Amitie actually points this out in ''Fever 2'' as described below. Being a skeleton, however, there's nothing in particular he really needs to cover up.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Male example, but is CampGay and certainly acts the part of a lady.
* GratuitousEnglish: His spells, ''Elegant'', ''Psychedelic'', and ''Asymmetry''.
* GratuitousFrench: His other spells, ''Avant-Garde'' and ''Très Bien''.
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Not an animal, but is a non-human that wears nothing but a hat and cloak all the same. He gets [[BerserkButton really upset]] when Amitie questions him on this.
* HouseOfBrokenMirrors: In ''15th Anniversary'', he mentions having thrown away every old photo of himself into the sea, and then begs Lemres not to recover them.
* InterSpeciesRomance: He flirts with Zoh Daimaoh, who is an elephant, when he wins against him in his story.
* IWasQuiteALooker: He makes some claims like this in 15th Anniversary.
* IWillWaitForYou: He's awaiting the day he reunites with his missing lover.
* UsefulNotes/JapanesePronouns: Uses the very feminine ''atashi'' to refer to himself.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://youtu.be/SS_Ad0HFP4Y Looking For a Visitor]]".
* LosingYourHead: Common in his hit animations.
* MeaningfulName: Oshare means "Stylish". It's all he cares about. Also, his Japanese name, Oshare Koube, contains "sharekoube" which means skull. ''Champions'' localizes his name to Dapper, which is a synonym of the aforementioned "Stylish".
* MementoMacGuffin: [[spoiler:The "Memory of Chu" item in ''Fever 2'' was given to him as a gift by his now-missing lover. However, he threw it into the sea so that he wouldn't be reminded of his lover's disappearance, and once it is found, he gives it to Raffina, feeling he no longer deserves to own it.]]
* NoblewomansLaugh: Though he can be a decent person, the laugh makes him come off as mildly vain towards the unfashionable.
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: Likely, since having a skeleton wear black would be cliche (and unfashionable).
* SequelNonEntity: His last real appearance was in ''15th Anniversary'', which brought up aspects of his life (his appearance and the identity of his missing lover) that, due to his absence from the series, have not been touched on since. TheBusCameBack in ''Quest's'' story mode, though he is only a minor character there, tending to is store as always.
* SeriousBusiness: Fashion is very much this for him. He'll challenge people to Puyo matches over it, in fact.
* SignificantBirthDate: Christmas Eve, which in Japan is a very romantic holiday.
* StepfordSmiler: Implied. He is generally silly and quite friendly, if easily offended when something doesn't fit his fashion standards, but most things related to his past and romantic life show a sadder side of his character. He has a lover who he hasn't seen in a long time and wants to reunite with, threw away a gift from said lover, feeling he no longer deserved it and got rid of his photos from when he was alive, because he considers the memories attached to them to be too painful.
* TookALevelInBadass: AI-wise, at least. In 15th he can finally rotate his Puyo, and since he doesn't show up after that, it's possible that this has stuck.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: You can just ''barely'' call his spell this, as almost all of them are insults to his opponent.
* TransEqualsGay: While his own gender identity is yet to be revealed, he [[MistakenForGay mistook Zoh Daimaoh for gay]] because [[{{Crossdresser}} he wears a bindi]].
* WhiteFlag: Waves the flag in his losing animations in ''Fever 2'' and ''15th Anniversary''.
* YouFool: His victory phrase is basically this.

A round frog that rolls around in an acorn top. He has some sort of connection to Amitie, and is often seen singing.
----
* AbnormalAmmo: He can spit acorns as his main form of attack.
* AnimalTalk: Frogs and onions can somehow communicate, as he has one entire scene trading ribbits and onions with Onion Pixie.
* BlushSticker: They help him look cute.
* BouncingBattler: As depicted in his attack animations.
* BulletSeed: With acorns instead of seeds.
* TheCameo: While absent from the game proper, he does briefly appear in a ''Puyo Puyo Tetris 2'' 4koma.
* DemotedToExtra: After ''15th'', he does not appear in ''7'', returns as a playable character in ''20th'', only appears in a single cutscene in ''Tetris'', is only playable in Skill Battle and the main RPG mode of ''Chronicle'' and is completely absent from ''Tetris 2''.
* ADogNamedDog: Fittingly for an acorn frog, his name means "acorn frog" in Japanese.
* {{Expy}}: Of Nohoho. [[LuckBasedMission To the point of using the exact same AI...]]
* FloatingInABubble: His counter animation makes him form a bubble barrier.
* HiddenDepths: According to ''20th'', Donguri Gaeru is seeking to find out the wisdom beneath Puyo battles. [[UnreliableNarrator Or so Maguro thinks.]]
* AKindOfOne: Donguri Gaeru is actually part of a species of identical looking acorn frogs, which was hinted at in the games and eventually shown in the novel ''Satan's Space Amusement Park''. While never outright confirmed, the one who appears in the games seems to be the same one every time, as characters frequently express familiarity with him.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNz3b10kpnI "Ribbit Ribbit"]] for ''15th'', and the similarly named [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPA5KYK_V4w Ribbit Ribbit☆Riiibbit♪]] for ''20th''.
* PunBasedCreature: His name means "acorn frog" in Japanese, but is also a pun on "dengurigaeri", meaning rolling forward. This is his method of locomotion.
* PunnyName: His name translates to "acorn frog", which is at the same time a pun on the word "dengurigaeri" (forward roll).
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: ''Schezo'' finds him cute enough to take home!
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The English localization for ''Tetris'' changes his name from Dongurigaeru to Donguri Gaeru.

----
* BadassFamily: One of the stronger opponents.
* DropTheWashtub: One drops on the Frankenstein father when large amounts of Nuisance Puyo fall on his field in ''Fever''.
* DumbMuscle: Frankendad is noted to not be very clever, but also a strong opponent who relies entirely on Puyo skill and physical strength for his moves.

* FamilyBusiness: In Puyo, at least.
* FrankensteinsMonster: Two of them.

----
* AllThereInTheManual:

** His ''Fever 2'' bio mentions that he dislikes sunlight, which may be why his hat covers his eyes.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Notably one of the rare cases of a character having tan skin.
* ChefOfIron: Many of Gogotte's spells involve using cooking implements.
* CreepyGood: Despite his very weird behavoir, he's ultimately harmless.
* EyeObscuringHat: His eyes are not visible due to his hat.
* PerpetualSmiler: Unless he's losing, he's always got the same smile on his face.

----
* AmazingTechnicolorWildlife: Justified due to being a bird.
* AsskickingPose: His low stance before fighting Amitie and Raffina in ''Fever 2''.
* ButtMonkey: In cutscenes he appears in, he's often abused in some way. In ''Fever'', he misses dive-bombing Raffina and crashes, while in ''Fever 2'', he gets roasted by Amitie's "Blazing Hot Flame Beam".
* DeathFromAbove: Attempts a dive bomb on Raffina in ''Fever'', but misses.

* AKindOfOne: Implied, his dialogue in ''Fever'' indicates that he's part of a species, but no other Hohos ever made any appearance.

-->''Onion! Onion onion!''

A small oni that lives in the forest. He has a crush on a fellow member of his race, Oniko, and considers himself Sig's rival for her love.
----
* AllThereInTheManual: According to his in-game ''Fever 2'' bio, Onion Pixy has had it out for Gogotte ever since the latter appeared in the forest.
* AnimalTalk: Apparently onions and frogs can communicate, if Donguri Gaeru's story was an indication.
* ArtificialStupidity: Yet another member of the "No-Rotation" club. That being said, for some reason he was able to in 15th, but then never again after that.
* BerserkButton: He doesn't like being called cute. The sight of Sig also provokes him.
* ButtMonkey: His story in ''20th''. Absolutely no one takes him seriously, due to a combination of being cute and no one understanding his speech. Getting mistranslated by Ringo, nearly eaten by Draco, Rulue attacking him out of rage, etc.
* CarryABigStick: Though "big" is relative in this case.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: He had little personality to speak of in ''Fever'', as he only appears to poke Raffina's butt and barely even shows any reaction when she demands a Puyo match in return. ''Fever 2'' would introduce his love for Oniko and one-sided rivalry with Sig, while ''15th'' established his desire to prove himself as strong, in order to impress and protect Oniko.
* DubNameChange: A weird subversion. He's known as "Onion" in hiragana, but whenever a romanization is required, he is always referred to as Onion Pixy/Pixie. It's similar to how ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam'' and ''Kidou Senshi'' (Mobile Warrior) ''Gundam'' are used interchangeably in Japan, only this applies to a ''character''.
* {{Expy}}: Of Nasu Grave.
* HappilyMarried: With Oniko, according to her ''Quest'' FlavorText.
* IJustWantToBeBadass: He totes himself as a "cool, hard-boiled guy" and wants to become strong to protect Oniko. Unfortunately, his attempts at being badass come off as being cute, to his annoyance.
* TheIllegible: He once tried to write a angry letter for Sig, only for said letter to be completely unreadable.
* AKindOfOne: Later games would establish that Onion Pixies are actually an entire race of creatures who all look the same, including female Onion Pixies, who all look like... Oniko (lampshaded in ''Amitie and the Girl of Love''), although it's clear that the Onion Pixie that makes playable appearances in the games is always the one who has a bone to pick with Sig for stealing (his) Oniko's affections.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkex1ReuvBU "Onion Forest"]] in ''15th''.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8y1L747zU4 "Knight Errant"]] in ''20th''.
* MeaningfulName / PunnyName: His head is an onion, but he's also an oni!
* MirrorMatch: Ends up in a Puyo match with another Onion Pixie, near the end of his story in ''20th''.
* PerpetualFrowner: And his wife is a PerpetualSmiler.
* {{Planimal}}: Part onion, part... pixie?
* PokemonSpeak: All he says is "Onion" in English and Japanese.
** ThoughtBubbleSpeech: The entirety of his story in ''20th'' displays his thoughts, but nearly no one he encounters understands onion-speak.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: [[CutenessProximity Schezo]] finds him as such in ''20th'' and ''Tetris''. [[BerserkButton Just don't say it aloud in front of him.]]
* SpectacularSpinning: Some of his animations require this.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Was named Onion Pixy in the localized release of ''Fever''. ''Tetris'' and ''Champions'' went with Onion Pixie instead.
* UnknownRival: Considers Sig his rival for Oniko's affections and will get enraged when he's nearby. Sig has no idea about any of this since he can't understand Onion Pixie's language.

Onion Pixie's love interest. However, she initially appeared to be fond of Sig instead, which made Onion Pixie disappointed. She occasionally appears in Onion Pixie's animations starting in ''15th''.
----
* AssistCharacter: Attacks together with Onion Pixie in his final chain animation.
* BlushStickers: To emphasize her cuteness and femininity.
* DistractedByTheSexy: Oniko has a habit of doing this.
** She falls in love with Sig whenever he's in her presence, and Onion Pixie is ''not'' pleased by this.
** Oniko also falls for Puubot, ''a robot'', in ''Quest''.
* HappilyMarried: With Onion Pixie, according to her FlavorText in ''Quest''.
* InterSpeciesRomance: Initially falls in love with Sig instead of Onion Pixie, but she gets past this for the most part. ''Quest'' implies she may still have some latent feelings for the former, but she has no intention on acting upon them as she is HappilyMarried to Onion Pixie, if her ''Quest'' FlavorText is of any indication.
* AKindOfOne: Is a member of a species of identical looking creatures, with the female ones all resembling Oniko. With that said the one who appears in the games is clearly the same character every time, since her fondness for Sig is still frequently brought up.
* PerpetualSmiler: Contrasting Onion Pixie.
* {{Planimal}}: Part onion, part... pixie?
* PromotedToPlayable: ''Quest'' is the first time she has ever been playable.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: She's just like Onion Pixie, but even cuter.
* SatelliteLoveInterest: She only exists as Onion Pixie's motivator.
* TertiarySexualCharacteristics: Wears a small red bow on her head and wears a dress to differentiate herself from Onion Pixie.

--> ''The moment I take my eyes off of him, the Prince sure loves to turn and run off...''

Ocean Prince's supposed butler. He's normally a timid young man, but he is absolutely passionate with protecting the prince, and seems to have some sort of fondness for him too. Too bad he's also a victim of Ocean Prince's constant escapes and pranks. In ''Fever 2'', he appears as an NPC, and cameos in some of Ocean Prince's animations for future titles.
----
* AscendedExtra: In the regular games Otomo is purely a supporting character in {{NPC}} roles, ''Quest'' meanwhile not only allows him to [[PromotedToPlayable ascend to playable status]], but also gives him three alt cards and his own Story Quest to star in.
* AssistCharacter: He appears for Ocean Pince's counter and to [[TakingTheBullet take hits directed at him]] in ''15th''.
* BattleButler: Downplayed. He only cameos in some of Ocean Prince's animations in ''15th'', and even in ''Quest'' his stats and skills focus on healing.
* BaitAndSwitchBoss: Subverted in ''Fever 2''. The first cutscene in the [=WakuWaku=] course with Raffina is set up at first to be a match with Lidelle, but then Otomo ''suddenly bursts onto the scene and knocks away Lidelle''... but he merely requests for Raffina to find Ocean Prince, and then the cutscene ends with a battle with Lidelle like normal.
* ButtMonkey: As if his constant failures to catch Ocean Prince weren't bad enough, ''20th'' also reveals that he is a frequent victim of pranks set up by the prince.
* CowardlyLion
* CutenessProximity: Talking about or seeing Ocean Prince makes him gush over how "beautiful" and "cute" he is ''hard''.
* {{Determinator}}: He never gives up looking for Ocean Prince, no matter how many times he's duped.
* {{Fanboy}}: To Ocean Prince.
* TheGhost: ''15th's'' story mode has an odd case of this; Ocean Prince calls to Otomo several times in cutscenes and post-match lines, but the butler himself never appears on-screen or even utters a word during cutscenes and nobody besides Salde ever even implies that he is present at all. He does show up in Salde's counter and damage animations, but never in the story proper.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Instead of the typical anime eyes everyone else has, his eyes are tiny white dots. He also appears to lack defined feet like the other human-esque characters.
* OhNoNotAgain: Otomo never catches a break when trying to reel in the Prince, and laments on this when the latter does escape.
--> (In Fever 2) "Boo hoo... Now I must seek him out yet again..."
* OutOfCharacterMoment: "Serious Otomo" in ''Quest''. He looks '''pissed''', and in a meta sense, it focuses more on offense, unlike his typically support-based selection of cards.
* PromotedToPlayable: ''Quest'' is the first time a player can use him in battle.
* RealMenWearPink: He is good enough at knitting to have it listed as his special talent.
* SupportPartyMember: Save for the Serious version, Otomo in ''Puyo Quest'' is generally focused on supportive utility, whether it be being the classic healer, or powering up the party's attack strength.
* SwordPointing: Serious Otomo in ''Quest''.
* TakingTheBullet: In ''15th'', '''he's''' the one that receives damage, not Ocean Prince. It's even lampshaded by Ms. Accord in ''15th'', should you lose to her in Ocean Prince's story.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Ocean Prince, despite Ocean Prince not feeling the same.
* YankTheDogsChain: Just when he's about to get Ocean Prince, circumstances always result in him managing to escape, whether it be the Prince's mischief, or simply giving the slip.

--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever
--> '''Voiced by:''' Takuo Kawamura (Japanese), Mark Atherlay (English, ''Puyo Pop Fever'')

-->''A long autumn night underneath a beautiful moon... I'm so fond of it!''

A student at Primp Magic School, Tartar is a lover of nature and all creatures, big and small. He is a good friend of Amitie, Sig, the Fever Birds, Baldanders, and especially Lidelle. For reasons unknown, he has not appeared in a mainstream game since ''Fever 2'', although he did return for ''Quest''.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: He's pretty much this to Raffina.
* BeadyEyedLoser: Not necessarily a loser, but Raffina doesn't seem to have much of a high opinion of him.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: As informed in his bios, when someone or something he cares about is harmed/in danger of being harmed, he's capable of unbelievable strength.
* BigFun: He is quite large, but outside of Puyo battles he is a very caring and sociable person.
* ColorCodedCharacters: All Primp students are designed to feature one of the five Puyo colors prominently in their designs. Tartar was the original blue member of the class, until he disappeared from the non-''Quest'' games and Sig took his place in class.
* CostumeEvolution: Is the only student who ''didn't'' get this aside from ''Quest''.
* {{Expy}}: He shares a couple of traits with Minotauros.
** They both have a crush on a [[GirlyBruiser prim and proper martial artist]] who owns an [[{{Ojou}} obscene amount of wealth.]]
** They are the GentleGiant among their group of friends, but can easily get riled up when either the object of their affection and/or their friends are insulted/put in harm's way.
** They consider themselves the [[BodyguardCrush bodyguards of the object of their affections]], [[BodyguardingABadass even though said 'object' doesn't really have any need for such assistance.]]
** They are (for the most part) the DoggedNiceGuy in regard to their crushes.
** Just like with Minotauros following ''Minna'', he also suddenly disappeared from the games after ''Fever 2'' (outside of ''Quest'').
* TheFriendsWhoNeverHang: Despite being singled out as an especially close friend to Lidelle, he wouldn't actually get any proper on-screen interactions with her until ''Quest''.
* FullContactMagic: How he uses his spells in Fever 1 and 2.
* GentleGiant: He really doesn't like to pick fights unless he's provoked into taking action.
* {{Gonk}}: Has a very distinct appearance, compared to the rest of the cast.
%%* GroundPunch: Does Tartar ever actually ''do'' one of these?%%
* HiddenDepths: According to ''Quest'', he's actually quite adept at treating injuries.
* HopelessSuitor: Raffina wants nothing to do with him, as she already HasAType.
* InformedKindness: Tartar's bios ''say'' he's a GentleGiant, but in the ''Fever'' duology, most, if not all, of his screentime was spent being the AbhorrentAdmirer to Raffina, even to really creepy levels. He finally shows off his nicer side in ''Quest''.
* MartialPacifist: According to ''Quest'' (and as implied via his ''Fever'' and ''Fever 2'' bios), he prefers to solve matters without resorting to violence. This said, his same bios also go on to make a notable point about his abnormal strength once someone or something he cares about is harmed/in danger of being harmed...
* NatureLover: This said, the only animal he dislikes are spiders.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Compared to the rest of the humanoid characters of the cast, he's the only one with a considerably large and round body, and a round head. He also has a distinct, round nose.
* TheNoseKnows: He apparently can pick up Raffina's scent. Thank goodness his nose is not keen enough to track her.
* PoppingButtons: His blazer is unbuttoned.
* SelfProclaimedLoveInterest: Of Raffina.
* ThemeNaming: MakingASplash, BlowYouAway, and DishingOutDirt.
* SequelNonEntity:
** Aside from ''Quest'', he hasn't appeared since ''Fever 2''; Ms. Accord lampshades this in ''15th'' by stating that he's absent from school. Following his disappearance, his character traits were [[DecompositeCharacter decomposed]] and placed onto other characters: Sig became the easygoing boy, while Lidelle inherited his love of nature.
** ''Quest'' has him lampshade his removal from the mainstream games as well, with him stating that he 'hates being left behind'.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Similar to cases like Raffina and Lidelle, ''Puyo Puyo Fever'' initially spelled his name as "Tarutaru", before ''Puyo Puyo Champions'' finally changed it to "Tartar".
* StoutStrength: Though he is easily the biggest student of the class, his abilities also consist of physical attacks and causing ''earthquake faults''.
* UndyingLoyalty: His various bios make a point of affirming that he is quite dependable and loyal, almost to a fault.
* VerbalTic: "-(Na) n da na", the Japanese speech tic associated with stupid men.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: He's enormous and has a deep voice, but it can be inferred that he's in the same age range as Amitie, since they're classmates.

-->''Because I'm a ghost. We get the rights to terrorize people. Now, get ready for your final ride!''
-->''Get ready.''

Ghost twins that haunt the mansion in the middle of town. Yu's very upbeat and tends to overuse puns. Her younger brother, Rei, is very quiet and seldom speaks.
----
* AllThereInTheManual: Rei's presence was only informed in ''Fever'', and Yu never once mentioned trying to look for him.
* AscendedExtra: Originally, Yu was nothing more than a minor opponent in ''Puyo Puyo Fever'', with her importance to that game's story being no more greater than the likes of Hoho or the Frankensteins, yet she and her brother have become series staples, only missing out on playable appearances in ''7'' (the likes of which they didn't even make a cameo appearance in/have a reference being made regarding them), ''Tetris'', and ''Champions'' ever since. This gives them a similar record to the likes of Lidelle and Ocean Prince, supporting characters who hold major relationships with members of the main cast (whereas Yu and Rei have none of that outside of a running gag involving Ringo and her fear of ghosts).
* AssistCharacter: Rei is pretty much this to his sister, since Yu is the one who actually performs chains and attacks more.
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: Because of their bangs and hoods that look like a ghost's face, they can give off the appearance of [[MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily fanged]] spirits.
* BarredFromTheAfterlife: Yu and Rei can't pass on due to [[spoiler: a [[ThePromise promise]] Rei made to Yu when they were alive binding them together.]] Yu doesn't especially mind, while Rei... does.
* BedsheetGhost: Invoked with their pure white cloaks, as Yu believes no one would recognize them as ghosts otherwise. Dapper Bones thinks they could defy this and wear something else, though.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: As silly as Yu is, she has a warped perspective of what death is. She loves being a ghost due to the benefits of not needing to eat or sleep, and wants to turn others into ghosts because she wants them to experience the same benefits. All while being completely oblivious to the fact that turning people into ghosts would be '''murder'''. Even Rei questions Yu's desire to turn people into ghosts, by pointing out that people not wanting to be ghosts is normal behavior.
* CatchPhrase: "You rang?"
* CreepyTwins: Comes in the territory of being ghosts, though with the exception of [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes Ringo]], other characters react to them differently depending on the situation.
* CuteGhostGirl: Yu, who looks more like a little girl wearing a Halloween costume. Rei is a gender-inverted example.
* DemotedToExtra: ZigZagged after ''15th''. They make no appearance in ''7'', are playable in ''20th'' and in ''Puyo Tetris'' they make only one appearance in the main story, in a dream of all places, if only because Ringo accidentally thought of them. They show up again in Act 8, and manage to scare Amitie with their proposed horror show. They're playable in ''Chronicle'', cut in ''Champions'', then return as playable in ''Puyo Tetris 2''.
* DissonantSerenity: Yu is as chipper and playful as she always is in ''20th'', even when she's essentially offering other characters to die. This is especially evident when she tells Maguro she has a high-voltage power line ready to turn him into a ghost...
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: As mentioned above, Yu is a solo character in ''Puyo Pop Fever''.
* FogFeet: Yet, Yu tries to dance without actual legs. Raffina and Suketoudara point out this fact.
* GenkiGirl: Yu, to downright obnoxious levels thanks to all the puns.
* GhostAmnesia: Neither of them remember what their past was like. Not that Yu minds, anyhow.
* HiddenDepths: One of the optional conversations in ''Fever 2'' reveals that Rei is fond of bugs, just like Sig.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[http://youtu.be/knWS35LSIE8 "The Ghost Twins Sure Are Popular!"]]
** And [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfsxjIwp6N8 "Hauntingly Fun Ghost Twins!"]] in ''20th''.
* LittleMissBadass: Yu, who happily undergoes what can only be described as an innocent (attempted) murdering spree in ''20th''.
* LuckBasedMission: Like Harpy, they stack the left and rightmost columns with Puyo.
* MidairBobbing: Their sprites are always in movement, contrasting everybody else's, who remain static for the most part.
* MundaneUtility: In ''Quest'', Yu & Rei, at 2★, 5★ or higher (As the lower ones show only either Yu or Rei), is the only character to be part of both Boys and Girls combinations. This gives Yu and Rei a unique role in that they can have Boys and Girls make combinations in the same deck[[note]]Assuming they don't have any other kind of combination that can trigger[[/note]], which is impossible otherwise.
* PaperTalisman: Yu's weakness. She gets one placed on her forehead when she gets damaged.
* ParentalFavoritism: [[spoiler:Can be read; it's stated that Yu had an awful life when she was alive, but her younger brother had a wonderful life.]]
* PerpetualSmiler: Yu, even when shocked or terrified.
* PopQuiz: Appears in ''Fever 2'''s story modes to give these out.
** She asks Amitie "Why are ghosts bad at telling lies?"[[labelnote:Answer]]Because you can see right through them![[/labelnote]]
** And she asks Sig two: "What yard are people buried in?"[[labelnote:Answer]]A graveyard[[/labelnote]], and "What kind of comb can you find there?"[[labelnote:Answer]]A catacomb[[/labelnote]].
* PromotedToPlayable: Downplayed for Rei, since he's considered more playable than Oniko and Otomo, but Quest is the first time you can actually use HIM and not Yu.
* PunnyName: Their names together mean ''Yurei'', or "Ghost".
* PungeonMaster: Yu is capable of stirring up a HurricaneOfPuns when she gets the chance, whether it be in normal conversation or in her riddles.
* PurelyAestheticGender: {{Averted|Trope}} in ''Quest'' when it comes to combinations - their 3★ card, which only depicts Yu, is part of the Girls combination but not of the Boys one. Their 4★ card, which only depicts Rei, is part of the Boys combination but not of the Girls one. Their 2★, 5★, 6★ and 7★ cards, which depict both, are part of both the Boys and Girls combinations. They are the only characters to switch gender combinations on transformations.
* TheQuietOne: Rei makes Sig look talkative in comparison.
* ReflectionlessUselessEyes: Because Yu is a ghost. Probably Rei too, but he hides his eyes with bangs.
* ReiAyanamiExpy: Being very quiet and young and having blue hair, Rei is a male example, though as a minor character, he doesn't get much development to show the similarities.
* RunningGag: Expect them to spook the daylights out of Ringo, whenever they cross paths.
* SatelliteCharacter: Rei, who doesn't have any interactions that don't involve Yu.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Rei is the savvy guy while Yu is the energetic girl.
* SignificantBirthDate: June 9 ([[SiblingYinYang 6/9]]), which also makes them Gemini.
* SillySpook: Yu is cheerful and punny.
* SupportPartyMember: In ''Quest'', they are Recovery characters, with an Active Skill that recovers health of all cards and a Leader Skill that increases Recovery for all purple cards.
* TalkingWithSigns: Rei, in ''Fever 2'', held up signs that either had an "O"(correct), an "X"(incorrect), or a picture of a puyo (when a match began).
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Yu is the only female character to be featured on the second Vocal CD and even that's in a duet with her brother Rei.
* TraumaInducedAmnesia: One of Popoi's trivia bits in ''20th'' states that the shock of becoming a ghost caused Rei to forget something important. Popoi also speculates that this may be the reason why Rei is so quiet.
* TwinTropes: Dear lord...
** HalfIdenticalTwins: Other than the hair, they look identical with their ghost sheets.
** IdenticalTwinIDTag: Yu has green hair that lifts upwards like an Up-arrow. Rei has blue hair that covers his eyes, patterned like a Down-arrow.
** PolarOppositeTwins: Yu's very cheerful and loud, Rei's very quiet and depressed. [[spoiler:It's implied they were vice versa when they were living.]]
** ThemeTwinNaming: Their PunnyName.
** TricksterTwins: Not only are they ghosts, but they jump you into a Puyo match whether you answered their questions correctly or not.
** TwinSwitch: Their wishes in 15th were both this. Sadly, they canceled each other out. Eventually used as the basis of their alternate voice in ''Tetris 2'', with Rei taking the lead and emulating his sister's energy, with Yu emulating her brother's quieter mannerisms.
* WhenHeSmiles: After years of being a PerpetualFrowner, Rei can finally be seen smiling in ''Chronicle''.
* WingedSoulFliesOffAtDeath: What happens to them when defeated. Don't worry, [[UnexplainedRecovery they get better(?)]]
