Characters who appear in the works of ''Toys/MilkyWayAndTheGalaxyGirls'', created by Creator/LaurenFaust. The whole lot of 'em are sometimes referred to collectively as The Girlaxy or The Solar Sisterhood.
----

!The Girlaxy/The Solar Sisterhood
[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:The Girlaxy as a Whole]]
* AmbiguouslyHuman: It is unknown where exactly the Galaxy Girls originated. With the obvious exception of Mars, they're most likely HumanAliens.
* AnthropomorphicPersonification: The girls tend to refer to themselves as if they were themselves the heavenly bodies they represent, such as Sun saying she makes up 99% of UsefulNotes/TheSolarSystem's mass, and Jupiter taking about how Galileo changed the understanding of the cosmos by discovering her moons.
* ArtMajorPhysics: Yes, it's a team of girls having adventures and saving the day whilst skating/flying in the vacuum of space. [[MST3KMantra You should really just relax.]]
* CaptainErsatz: Much like how Faust based ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' on her interpretation of classic ''Franchise/MyLittlePony'', ''Galaxy Girls'' [[https://twitter.com/Fyre_flye/status/417845511953973249 is inspired by]] ''WesternAnimation/StrawberryShortcake''
* ImprobablyFemaleCast: The entire case is female. Well, and there is Galileo and Mageallen, who if designed would become boys.
* MagicalGirl: All of them. From the pre-production materials that Faust has made, all of the girls appear to at least have the ability to freely move through outer space. They also have to fight at least one BigBad.
* {{Motifs}}: Each girl wears roller-skates, probably meant to emphasize their ability to freely move about space.
* NoodlePeople: They tend to be tall and have thin limbs.
* OutOfFocus: Anyone who is not Milky Way, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, or Pluto will most likely not get a spotlight.
* RollerbladeGood: Especially for space travel!
* SailorEarth: Taking the trope's name literally, there are also [[http://1398-v6ax.deviantart.com/art/Earth-105025869 a few]] [[http://www.deviantart.com/art/Earth-and-Moon-44377062 fan-made]] [[http://www.deviantart.com/art/Earth-87898974 Earth-characters]] [[https://www.deviantart.com/gamerdiana/art/Earth-901365976 out there]] as well.
* ShoutOut: Obviously. The whole thing is based on various celestial bodies, with each character's design and personality reflecting at least one physical property (The Sun's energy, Pluto's icy demeanor, etc.) or cultural/mythological associations (Venus's association with romantic love, Uranus's insistence [[UranusIsShowing that you pronounce her name right]], etc.) with their associated celestial body. Here's a quick summary:
** [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milky_Way The Milky Way]] is the spiral-shaped galaxy in which you, I, the Sun and its orbiting bodies, koala bears, between 200 and 400 billion other stars of varying size, and 100 billion additional planets are held together by the gravitational effects of its visible and dark matter. [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andromeda_Galaxy Andromeda]] is the nearest neighboring spiral-shaped galaxy, a mere 2.5 billion light years away from Earth. Andromeda is thought to be younger than the Milky Way by approximately 4.2 billion years.
** [[UsefulNotes/{{TheSun}} The Sun]] is based on... well... the Sun, a star that holds our Solar System in place via it's gravitational pull. This particular star is sometimes referred to as Sol.
** [[UsefulNotes/{{Mercury}} Mercury]], [[UsefulNotes/{{Venus}} Venus]] and [[UsefulNotes/{{Mars}} Mars]] are based on the smaller, rocky planets that orbit nearest to the Sun, while [[UsefulNotes/{{Jupiter}} Jupiter]], [[UsefulNotes/{{Saturn}} Saturn]], [[UsefulNotes/{{Uranus}} Uranus]] and [[UsefulNotes/{{Neptune}} Neptune]] are based on the gaseous giants that orbit further out.
** [[UsefulNotes/{{TheMoon}} The Moon]] is based on Earth's Moon. Jupiter's pets are named after [[UsefulNotes/{{TheMoonsOfJupiter}} Io, Callisto, Europa and Ganymede]], Jupiter's four largest moons, which are sometimes referred to as the Galilean Moons.
** [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pluto_(dwarf_planet) Pluto]], [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eris_(dwarf_planet) Eris]] and [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceres_(dwarf_planet) Ceres]] are based off of dwarf planets, which are commonly defined as being massive enough to have their shape dictated by their own gravitational pull, but lacking the needed gravitational force to clear their orbits around the Sun of other bodies of comparable size. Pluto and Eris are small, icy worlds beyond the orbit of Neptune, while Ceres is the largest object residing in the Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter.
** [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_hole Black Hole]] is based on the spatial phenomenon of the same name, in which a sufficiently massive star collapses in on itself when the force of its own gravitational pull exceeds the outward force of its internal fusion (which commonly happens as the star burns through heavier and heavier elements), the end result being a singularity with such powerful gravitational force that even light entering its event horizon cannot escape.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Each girl also has a unique symbol (Milky Way's star, Venus's heart, etc.) that they wear as earrings and on the wheels of their skates, which represents some aspect of their personality. The only one that doesn't is Ceres, which is one part a reflection on her personality, one part character development, and one part Lauren Faust having not decided on her symbol yet.
* VagueAge: So far, only Milky Way and Andromeda have had their ages revealed, being 15 and 5, respectively. It's easy to assume the other Galaxy Girls are teenagers as well (though some fans like to assume that Sun and Jupiter are in their 20s due to their taller appearance). This is further complicated when you consider that the bodies they equate themselves to are billions of years old. Perhaps they are just physically and mentally young while chronologically being [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld Really 7 Billion Years Old]].

[[folder:Milky Way]]
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlsmilkyway_3162.png]]
[[caption-width-right:210:[[labelnote:Click to see Milky's redesign]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/imageedit_53_3670178448.png[[/labelnote]]]]
The starry-eyed front-woman of the Galaxy Girls, Milky Way is "what every girl wishes she was but doesn't know she is already: smart, confident, adventurous, and fun". She lives to explore the cosmos and make new experiences and friends, although her craving for adventure has a tendency to get in the way of common sense. Still, she's more than capable of getting out of any jam she gets in. Recently received a [[https://twitter.com/Fyre_flye/status/497224271639228418 redesign]] making her less of a [[NoodlePeople Noodle Person]].
----
* ChallengeSeeker: One of her defining traits. She's not satisfied unless she gets to experience new places and things.
* ColorCodedCharacters: A combination of navy and pale blue and light yellow, the colors of a starry night.
* CoolBigSis: To Andromeda.
* ConflictBall: About her only flaw according to Faust's website is that she's sometimes overly adventurous, which can lead to trouble for her and the other girls.
* GenkiGirl: Not to Mars' extent but it's there.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She has platinum-blonde hair, and is plenty willing to make friends and right any wrongs in the galaxy.
* InnocentBlueEyes: To go with her platinum-blonde hair.
* TheLeader: Presumably, she's the de-facto leader of the Galaxy Girls. She would probably fall into the Charismatic, Headstrong, or Levelheaded categories.
* MustMakeAmends: It's highly implied that she's always willing and able to help fix whatever problem she's uncovered during the course of her adventures.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: She accidentally frees the series's BigBad, Black Hole, in one of Faust's drafts for the pilot of the show.
* PluckyGirl: In Faust's words, "not even the force of gravity can keep her down!"
* ThePowerOfFriendship: She's constantly seeking out new friends if she isn't seeking out new places or experiences.
* SymbolMotifClothing: A star.
* StealthPun: Both literally and figuratively starry-eyed.
* WingdingEyes: Interestingly, she's the only one (along with her sister Andromeda) with a unique shape in the light reflected off her pupils, which are stars as opposed to circles.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Sun]]
[[quoteright:248:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sun04_3.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:248:She's hot, she's bright, she is the light.]]
Like UsefulNotes/TheSun itself, Sun is the center of attention. The world revolves around her, and she'll make sure you know it! Energetic, confident, passionate, and HOT, Sun keeps the Solar Sisterhood warm with her heavenly voice.
----
* AttentionWhore: To an extent.
* CharacterBlog: [[http://fyre-flye.deviantart.com/art/Solar-Power-214468862 Solar Power]]
* ColorCodedCharacters: Loves yellow and orange!
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Both are bright orange.
* DiscoDan: Her design has some elements of this.
* FanservicePack: Her 2021 design has body becoming more chubby, along with keeping her skimpy hot pants.
* FunPersonified: Just radiates this.
* FunTShirt: Her tank top reads, "HOT".
%%* FunnyAfro: One that looks like the Sun itself.
* HotBlooded: Is incredibly passionate about her musical talents, like Pluto, but without the violence!
* IconicItem: Her microphone.
* IdolSinger: Played straight and subverted. Visually, she has all the stylings of one. Despite that and the fact that she's all about fun, she does have genuine musical talent, with her voice described as "heavenly".
* LargeAndInCharge: Like Jupiter she's one of the tallest characters. She's also extremely confident, assertive, and believes everything else is ''orbiting'' around her singing talents. Oh, uh, she's also the frickin' personification of the ''Sun!''
* MagicIdolSinger: Her singing illuminates the entire Solar System!
* RedOniBlueOni: Forms a pair with the melancholy Moon, who is the other confirmed lyricist in the group.
* SassyBlackWoman: Radiance like that doesn't come out of nowhere, after all.
* ShoutOut: She prides herself on being HOT and the center of attention, much like UsefulNotes/TheSun is the center of the Solar System and generates intense heat.
* SpiritualAntithesis: Despite she and [[Characters/FriendshipIsMagicThePrincesses Celestia]] sharing association with the Sun, the two are very much opposites. Whereas Sun is all about being the center of attention, Celestia wishes to be thought of as simply another pony rather than put on a pedestal.
* SymbolMotifClothing: A thirteen-pointed sun.
* YouAreTheNewTrend: She either tries to set the trends or flows with them.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mercury]]
[[quoteright:292:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlsmercury_939.png]]
[[caption-width-right:292: Ten seconds flat? She can cross the stars in ''nine''.]]
As befitting of the name, Mercury prides herself on being the fastest in the galaxy, and is said to be able to reach the speed of light with her winged sneaker-skates. She's always working out to maintain her athletic ability, but as a result doesn't spend as much time with her friends as they'd like.
----
* BlessedWithSuck: She's as fast as the speed of light! However, this magical skill apparently requires an intense physical regimen to maintain, so Mercury is often away from her friends exercising and training. Although she doesn't seem to intentionally blow them off, the other Galaxy Girls often notice her absence and wish she'd spend more time with them.
* BoyishShortHair: As someone who prefers athleticism over socialization, she keeps her hair short.
* ColorCodedCharacters: She likes light blue and silver.
* {{Determinator}}: She won't let anything keep her from being fastest in the galaxy.
* JerkJock: A downplayed female example. She's not outright mean -- in fact, she's got a positive attitude in general -- but her competitive nature means that she'd often rather be training for a track event rather than hanging out with her friends, which they sometimes wish Mercury would do more often.
* MercurysWings: Just like her namesake.
* OutOfFocus: Compared to everyone else, Mercury is the least focused on character in the series. When making new poses for characters in 2006, Lauren Faust only posted her [[https://www.deviantart.com/fyre-flye/art/New-Mercury-33018863 once]], and released the other poses as sketches. Not to mention that she was the last in order to have her doll designed.
* RedOniBlueOni:
** Both Venus and her are competitive athletes to the point of [[ThePerfectionist perfectionism]] in their respective activities. However, Mercury is much more blatant about her competitive drive, relentlessly training for track much of the time at the expense of alienating some people. While Venus is just as dedicated to dance, she's perceptive enough to realize that a constant, open display of this might be a turn-off, and therefore makes sure to approach people with a polite and unassuming manner.
** The contrast between red-oni alpha competitor Mercury and blue-oni beach bum Neptune is much more straightforward.
* ShoutOut: To both the planet UsefulNotes/{{Mercury}} and the mythological Mercury. The planet Mercury, which is the planet situated the closest to the sun, orbits completely around it at a faster rate than any of the other planets do. The ancient Roman deity Mercury was also fast, being a cosmic messenger and light god and all.
* SuperSpeed: Her talent. She's the fastest thing in the Galaxy Girl-universe and, with her skates equipped, it's possible for her to travel at the speed of light.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Her MercurysWings.
* TankTopTomboy: The right clothes to push it to the limit.
* {{Tomboy}}: Most definitely.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The Tomboy to Venus's GirlyGirl.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Venus]]
[[quoteright:249:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlsvenus_371.png]]
[[caption-width-right:249: Sorry guys, [[http://fyre-flye.deviantart.com/art/Optimus-Venus-78142066 she's taken.]]]]
What Mercury is to speed, Venus is to beauty, wowing the Solar Sisterhood with her graceful appearance and dance moves. She's not to be taken lightly, though, as those moves demand a great deal of mental ''and'' physical discipline.
----
* {{Ballet}}: She likes all kinds of dancing, but her favorite form of dancing is ballet.
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: She has all three going for her. Her dance moves demand both an agile, coordinated mind, and immense strength and endurance, all of which she's got.
* ColorCodedCharacters: Pink, pink, and more pink. Also fuchsia and lavender.
* DancingIsSeriousBusiness: This is her passion for dancing mixed with her inner drive for perfection.
* {{Determinator}}: She never gives up, at least when it comes to improving her ballet skills.
* GirlyBruiser: Her bios make a point of the great amount of strength and coordination it takes to preform ballet as well as she does, so it's likely she'll develop this once ''Galaxy Girls'' gets off the ground.
* GirlyGirl: The girliest in the galaxy.
* LoveGoddess: Even based on one!
* MagicalGirl: Well, they're ''all'' technically Magical Girls, but Venus's ballerina get-up and frilly ribbons arguably invokes the stereotypical image of such a character best of all the girls in the group.
* ThePerfectionist: Her desire to master her ballet can get carried away sometimes, which is her main shortcoming.
* PinkMeansFeminine: As the most traditionally feminine of the Galaxy Girls, it's only natural that she's decked out in pink from head to toe.
* ThePowerOfLove
* ProperLady: At least on the outside, she projects this image.
* RoseHairedSweetie: She's very nice and polite, with pink hair to boot.
* ShoutOut: The planet UsefulNotes/{{Venus}} is named for the Roman goddess of Beauty, due to the way it resembles a beautiful star in the night sky. Plus, Venus or Aphrodithe was also a godess known for many DisproportionateRetribution, reflected in Venus' SilkHidingSteel.
* SymbolMotifClothing: A heart.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The GirlyGirl to Mercury's Tomboy.
* TutuFancy: Of course, she usually preforms in zero-gravity, so I guess we can give her a free pass. That said, there is [[http://fyre-flye.deviantart.com/art/Venus-alt-outfit-216602463 a piece of concept art of her wearing a more practical uniform]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Moon]]
[[quoteright:243:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlsthemoon_9717.png]]
[[caption-width-right:243: You think she'd make a good Franchise/{{Sailor|Moon}}?]]
If there's a beauty in sadness, Moon personifies it. Her emotions ebb, flow, wax, and wane as much as her namesake, but her emotional nature inspire some of the most incredible poetry you can imagine.
----
* ColorCodedCharacters: White and grey like UsefulNotes/TheMoon itself.
* CursedWithAwesome: The same moodiness that drives people away from her also provides the inner conflict needed to generate her awesome poetry and music, which somewhat draws them back.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: At least with with the more darkly shaded parts of her hair.
* DeliberatelyMonochrome: To an even greater extent than that of Pluto!
* DramaQueen
* TheEeyore: She almost always looks like she's one second away from weeping.
* EmoTeen: She can be considered as much, as a girl who revels in her unhappiness and writes poetry.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Her signature moodiness makes it very hard for anybody to spend any great amount of time with her. But on her best days, her awe-inspiring songs and poetry makes it all worth it... Almost!
* LargeHam: Although the Moon is a gifted poet, her talent derives itself from her turbulent emotional state, making her works at times very melodramatic relative to other people.
* MelancholyMoon: She ''is'' [[AnthropomorphicPersonification this trope]].
* MoodSwinger: Said to be this, though melancholy seems to be her default mood.
* ProneToTears:
* ShoutOut:
** To UsefulNotes/TheMoon's tidal effects on the Earth in RealLife. The Moon's emotional state ebbs and flows with time as well, making her the most unpredictable of the Galaxy Girls.
** Her choice of dress and fascination with the more morbid side of things also calls to mind turn-of-the-century Spiritualism.
** Her overall willowy design resembles many ladies depicted in ArtNouveau.
* SpiritualAntithesis: She and [[Characters/FriendshipIsMagicThePrincesses Luna]] are both associated with the moon and present a unique combination of shy and bombastic, but Moon is far more on the "shy" side with Luna on the "bombastic" side.
* SymbolMotifClothing: A crescent moon.
* TrueArtIsAngsty: InUniverse, her repertoire includes "beautiful bittersweet ballads, splendidly sorrowful sonnets, lovely lamentable lyrics, awesome ominous odes"... you get the picture.
* WhenSheSmiles: Although her most accessible artwork depicts her giving a shy smile, the majority of her renderings from Faust has her sadly frowning instead.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mars]]
[[quoteright:227:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlsmars_7676.png]]
[[caption-width-right:227: Greenie Pie?]]
Mars takes "out of this world" to a whole new level, in both appearance and demeanor. Her happy-go-lucky mind and perception of the universe are absolutely nothing like yours and mine. She's also an accomplished artist, her works looking like nothing you've ever seen.
----
* BizarreAlienBiology: Aside from being green, those antennae of hers are real.
%%* BoyishShortHair
* CloudCuckoolander: Have you seen the way she dresses?!
* ColorCodedCharacters: As befitting her oddball personality, she exhibits all of the secondary colors, with green being the most prominent.
* TheDitz: To a limited extent.
* FunPersonified: She has a giddy demeanor, is always laughing and leaping, and her main interest is arts and crafts of any kind.
* FurAndLoathing: {{Averted}}; She's not at all vindictive or evil, and considering Faust's own love of animals, it's very unlikely her fuzzy jacket is actual fur. It serves more to highlight her kookiness and individuality.
* GenkiGirl: Once inspiration strikes, there's no holding her back.
* GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe: All of the girls are extraordinary, but she's the only one that is genuinely [[IncrediblyLamePun out of this world]] -- that is to say, an extraterrestrial.
%%* ThePollyanna
* RenaissanceMan: She is known to be, at the very least, an accomplished painter, sculptor, and collage artist.
* SymbolMotifClothing: A classic UFO image.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jupiter]]
[[quoteright:347:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlsjupiterandpets_540.png]]
[[caption-width-right:347: In case you're wondering, yes, she has 60 more pets.\
[-...Wait, does that mean Saturn and Uranus have dozens of pets as well? and what does that say about Moon?-] ]]
The spiritual hippie chick of the Girlaxy, Jupiter strives to become "one with the universe". As such, she's always organizing cosmic cleanup efforts and rescuing animals. Her favorites, and first ones rescued, are Io the Pup, Callisto the Cat, Europa the Bunny and Ganymede the Ferret.
----
* CharacterBlog: [[http://fyre-flye.deviantart.com/art/Peace-Throughout-the-Universe-214469449 Peace Throughout the Universe]]
* ColorCodedCharacters: Brown, pink, light yellow and cranberry.
* DrearyHalfLiddedEyes: Is always drawn with this expression.
* {{Expy}}: Shares [[Characters/FriendshipIsMagicFluttershy Fluttershy]]'s love of animals and [[Characters/FriendshipIsMagicAppleJack Applejack]]'s work ethic and practicality.
* FacialMarkings: She has an Indian bindi on her forehead.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: She dearly loves animals, especially her many rescued pets.
* GentleGiant: The "gentle" part definitely qualifies. And in the few group compositions that exist, she's usually one of the tallest characters. Her sprawling hair also makes her more noticeable as well.
* GranolaGirl: In addition to her dress and love of animals, she also regularly organizes efforts to clean up broken satellites and other space junk littering the solar system.
* NewAgeRetroHippie: She's described as a hippie on Faust's website. Another aspect of her personality is that she's very spiritual, constantly seeking to become one with the universe.
* ShoutOut:
** The most noted features of planet UsefulNotes/{{Jupiter}} are its enormous size and [[UsefulNotes/TheMoonsOfJupiter numerous moons]], both of which are represented by Galaxy Girl Jupiter's tall frame / voluminous hair and many pets.
** Her lightning bolt symbol may also tie in to Jupiter's stormy surface and to the Roman God Jupiter (also known as Zeus)'s lightning association.
** The bindi on her forehead and the small cranberry-colored circle on each of her pant legs may be references to her planet's Great Red Spot.
* SymbolMotifClothing: A lightning bolt.
* TechnicolorEyes: Deep purple eyes to reflect her spiritualism.

!!!Jupiter's Pets, Io the Pup, Callisto the Cat, Europa the Bunny and Ganymede the Ferret
* AmazingTechnicolorWildlife: Callisto the Cat has pink fur.
* ArtMajorPhysics: [[MST3KMantra Even more egregious than that of the girls themselves!]] So, the girls are free to do their thing in space without the use of thrusters or helmets, but Jupiter's pets have to have them? But they aren't bothered by direct contact to that harsh vacuum?
* BunniesForCuteness: Europa the Bunny
* CoolHelmet: Retro-style bubble helmets complete with antennae. Curiously, Callisto's helm has six antennae positioned like whiskers.
* CuteKitten: Callisto the Cat
* HappilyAdopted: Jupiter rescued all of them.
* {{Jetpack}}:
* PreciousPuppy: Io the Pup
* {{Ridiculously Cute Critter}}s:
* ShoutOut:
** To Jupiter's famous four Galilean Moons, obviously. In all the official art that they appear in, they are constantly orbiting Jupiter.
** Furthermore, Io the Pup bears a strong resemblance to Laika, one of the first animals launched into space.
* {{Retraux}}: The designs of their bubble helmets and {{jetpack}}s are ''very'' retro.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Saturn]]
[[quoteright:227:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlssaturn_5488.png]]
[[caption-width-right:227:Is she a bit too young for all those piercings?]]
In addition to her many rings, Saturn is the chief music mixer in the Solar Sisterhood, busting phat beats on the turntables at her dance club.
----
* ColorCodedCharacters: She's fond of yellow, purple, and teal.
* FlatCharacter: Overall, Saturn is the least developed of the 11 main Galaxy Girls (even less than Ceres). Compared to the other's characteristics and quirks, simply liking music and rings is somewhat underwhelming.
* HeadphonesEqualIsolation: Averted. She operates her own club / skating rink on the actual planet of Saturn, which is [[http://www.milkywayandthegalaxygirls.com/solarsisterhoodblog/?p=64 seen to be]] packed with patrons, and she readily assists Milky Way to find a fragment of Black Hole's prison. As much as Saturn likes music, her headphones are also part of her job as a deejay.
* HipHop: Begins to approach the musical genre that influenced her design (perhaps most notably her ridiculously-ostentatious pants!) / presumably informs her own musical tastes. However, this seems to be blended with a generous amount of dance-inspired influences as well.
* IconicItem: Her headphones.
* SassyBlackWoman: Not the extent of sun, but it's there.
* ShoutOut: Her many rings are obvious parallels to the planet UsefulNotes/{{Saturn}}’s rings.
* SymbolMotifClothing: A classic "planet with ring" image.
* TomboyishPonytail
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Uranus]]
[[quoteright:231:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlsuranus_5318.png]]
[[caption-width-right:231: The problem with her preferred pronunciation is that rather than sounding like "your anus", it now sounds like "urine us". Poor girl can't win either way.]]
Uranus (pronounced YOOR-en-us, not yoor-A-nus, at her insistence) is a total perfectionist. She's a firm believer in the old adage that the most important learning happens when you're young, and as such is always studying all sorts of academic subjects and riding her twin sister, Neptune, to take her own studies more seriously.
----
* {{Bookworm}}: Whether calculus, quantum physics, or the occasional romance novel, Uranus almost always has her nose in a book.
* ColorCodedCharacters: Light and navy blues, green and white. Also notable is that the Uranus and Neptune siblings share different shades of blue hair.
* EducationMama: Played with. She's somewhat distressed about her sister Neptune's lack of enthusiasm about her own studies, and will always correct those that mispronounce her own name!
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Perhaps somewhat averted, in that Neptune gets along fine in spite of her lack of enthusiasm for studying. But Uranus won't stop hounding her about this, primarily because she genuinely cares about her sister's future.
* HehHehYouSaidX: The eternal victim of this.
* ThePerfectionist: But really only when it comes to her studies.
* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: She's mainly known as the butt of cosmic jokes thanks to a common and humiliating mispronunciation of her name (it's YOOR-en-us, guys! YOOR-en-us!), but those that know her better know that she's a practical, scientifically-minded intellectual with a bent towards education and responsibility.
* RomanceNovel: In her downtime, she enjoys reading these.
* SiblingYinYang: With Neptune.
* SymbolMotifClothing: An apple.
* TeenGenius: She's at the very least acquainted with both calculus and quantum physics thanks to her studies.
* UranusIsShowing: *Sigh* For the last time, it's YOOR-en-us!
[[/folder]]

[[caption-width-right:280:[[WebAnimation/StrongBadEmail Dear Neptune, How do you surf with roller-skates on? Love,]] Website/TVTropes.]]
Neptune, naturally, lives for the seas of the universe. Whether hanging ten or just hanging out, she's a laid-back, "go with the flow" kind of person, which puts her at odds with her diligent sister, Uranus.
----
* BookDumb: She's not dumb by any means, but she'd rather relax and play in the water than take the time or effort to sit down and study. It's worked out pretty well so far.
%%* BoyishShortHair
* ColorCodedCharacters: All derived from the sea. Specifically, she prefers teal, sea foam blue, and hunter green.
* CoolBoard: She's the only one with one!
* CoolShades
* TheDitz: Just a little.
* DontThinkFeel: Her talent at surfing and other water sports probably developed simply because she liked doing such things so often.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: She's nominally the foolish one and her bookworm sister is the responsible one. Not that this bugs her or anything.
* RedOniBlueOni: The ultimate blue oni, befitting her laid-back personality and penchant for water sports, although she's not at all chilly. Unlike Mercury or Venus, Neptune isn't participating in her activities to be the best; she just wants to have fun. The same goes for academics, which bugs Uranus to no small degree.
* {{Surfer Dude}}tte
* ShoutOut: The planet UsefulNotes/{{Neptune}} is named for the Roman god of the Sea due to its deep blue appearance, hence Galaxy Girl Neptune's love of swim and surf.
* SymbolMotifClothing: A clam-shell.

[[folder:Pluto and the Dwarf Planets]]
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Pluto is nice, Eris is mean, and Ceres is in-between.
* OutOfFocus: Pluto's band-mates are this, well... as much as an element of a show in its planning stages can be out of focus. Generally, Eris and Ceres are the least developed of the characters mentioned by Faust aside from Black Hole. They have yet to receive published clean line-art, and Ceres's personal symbol hasn't been finalized yet.
* RedOniBlueOni: Eris and Pluto share the red oni within the band, while Ceres has sole possession of the blue oni.
* RockTrio: Pluto is the lead guitarist, Ceres is the bassist, and Eris is the drummer.
!Pluto
[[quoteright:221:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlspluto_5587.png]]
[[caption-width-right:221: Could there be a warm core underneath that icy surface? ]]
A rule-breaking rebel, Pluto is as cold and hard as the death metal music she plays, and she loves it, even if it might be what got her demoted to Dwarf Planet. Despite her stone cold attitude, Pluto's still a very passionate person, and she'll always stick up for her friends... possibly violently.
* CuteBruiser: [[HatesBeingCalledCute Just don't call her that to her face]].
* CharacterBlog: [[http://fyre-flye.deviantart.com/art/Dwarf-Planet-THIS-214470591 Dwarf Planet]] [[VerbThis THIS!!!!!]]
* ColorCodedCharacters: Black and white, as well as lavender eyes.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Let's see... Morbid fashion? Check. Brooding demeanor? Uh-huh. So she must be evil, right? Nah, she's just really good at kicking butt.
* DeliberatelyMonochrome: The only bit of color on her are her pale lavender irises and rose red lips.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: She tries to give off this image, but she's not all bad when you get to know her.
* PlutoIsExpendable: ...Look, [[https://web.archive.org/web/20150910070545/http://www.milkywayandthegalaxygirls.com/solarsisterhoodblog/?p=25 it had to be mentioned...]]
* HeavyMetal: SHE LOVES HARD ROCK!! AND PLAYING THE GUITAR!! So much so that she's formed her own band, "Pluto and the Dwarf Planets" with her friends Eris and Ceres!
* HotBlooded: In spite of her [[IncrediblyLamePun icy reputation]], she's extremely passionate about the things that she cares for.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's got an attitude, but she's all good beneath all that.
* MightMakesRight: A rare heroic example. Pluto deals with threats and other problems with brute force. Fortunately, she's also extremely loyal to her friends and always willing to back them up when the going gets rough.
* NoIndoorVoice
* PerkyGoth: She's a lot friendlier than she seems.
* ShoutOut: Pluto's cold, hard demeanor likely comes from UsefulNotes/{{Pluto}} being a ball of ice far away from the Sun. Her love of DeathMetal may also tie in with the Roman God Pluto being the god of death.
* SirSwearsALot: No-one else here needed [[SymbolSwearing grawlixes]] censoring their language!
* SugarAndIcePersonality: With a heavy, heavy skewing towards the "ice" side of things. If you cross her, she won't hesitate to give you dirty looks or scare off your younger siblings. But befriend her and you've got an ally for life that will always lend a hand in a brawl.
* SymbolMotifClothing: A skull.
* UnkemptBeauty: Her hair in particular is just out of control.
!!!Eris
[[quoteright:226:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlseris_4957.png]]
[[caption-width-right:226: She's as explosive as she looks, so let's hope her drums are blast-proof.]]
The drummer for Pluto and the Dwarf Planets, Eris is a take-charge hothead who is best not crossed.
* AllDrummersAreAnimals: She's more enraged than most examples, but she ''definitely'' has the chaotic nature down.
* ColorCodedCharacters: Not officially stated, but Eris seems to love intense neon maroons, purples and greens.
* ColorCodedEyes: Her green eyes are fitting for the most down-to-earth member of the Dwarf Planets.
* FieryRedhead: She has red hair with several little neon streaks to make it look more like a blast of energy.
* HotBlooded: Eris's known personality trait. Much like her friend Pluto, she takes her drumming extremely seriously and hates it when other people get in the way of that.
* PunkPunk: What her design is largely going for. More specifically, she contains elements of DieselPunk and CyberPunk to a lesser degree.
* PunkRock: The musical genre and general fashion trend that Eris follows.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: They add to her intense appearance!
* ShoutOut: In RealLife, the Dwarf Planet Eris is named for the Goddess of Chaos.
* SymbolMotifClothing: An atom.
* UnkemptBeauty: Though she's likely not to keen on being called a "beauty".
!!!Ceres
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galaxygirlsceres_5576.png]]
[[caption-width-right:200: Does she remind you of [[WesternAnimation/{{Daria}} another sarcastic girl with glasses?]]]]
The bassist of Pluto and the Dwarf Planets, Ceres is a non-conformist who eschewed having a personal symbol, but has since decided that blindly rejecting trends can be just as bad as blindly following them. The problem is that she still doesn't know what her symbol should be. She also thinks she's better than others.
* AlternativeIndie: Probably the best way to describe Ceres's own musical tastes and overall fashion sense.
* ColorCodedCharacters: Not officially stated, but Ceres prefers more muted earth tones.
* DisobeyThisMessage: PlayedWith. Initially, she didn't have a symbol because she was very non-conformist. But then she decided to adapt one because sometimes bucking a trend can be as bad as getting on board with it. She has yet to decide which symbol to use.
* {{Hipster}}: Hence why she's taken so long to adopt a personal symbol.
* HandWave: Why doesn't Ceres have a symbol yet? The in-universe explanation is that she hasn't decided on one yet! The real world reason is because Faust hasn't decided on one yet.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Not to the extent of The Sun, but Ceres is self-centered and thinks highly of herself over others.
* NerdGlasses: Has a pair of them.

[[caption-width-right:232:"Someday I wanna be a big star, just like my sis!"]]
Andromeda is Milky's adorable 5-year-old sister, always eager to hear about her latest adventures.
----
* CheerfulChild: Just look at her...
* ColorCodedCharacters: Not official, but her artwork depicts her wearing pale violets and yellows.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Lilac hair and eyes.
* GirlishPigtails: Her innocent nature is tied up perfectly in two pigtals.
* KidAppealCharacter: She's clearly meant to be the audience proxy, representing all the little kids who look up to the Galaxy Girls, Milky Way in particular.
* ShoutOut: To the real-life relation of the Andromeda and Milky Way Galaxies. Not only is the Andromeda Galaxy the closest spiral-shaped galaxy to the Milky Way, but it's also younger than the Milky Way, aged 9 billion years as opposed to 13.2 billion years. So it makes sense that Andromeda is Milky's younger sister.
* SymbolMotifClothing: Andromeda has the same star symbol as her older sister, but since she's too young for earrings, she has star-shaped hair decs instead.
* WingdingEyes: Shares Milky's starry eyes.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Black Hole]]
The BigBad of the series and primary antagonist of the Galaxy Girls. She was freed from her planetoid prison after Milky Way touched it while wandering outer space, shattering it into 11 pieces and scattering them to different places in the Solar System. Unless she's contained again, Black Hole will generate a vortex capable of sucking up everything in the Universe! Even without her ability to erase everything from existence, Black Hole is still said to be one nasty customer.

* AmbiguousGender: Was not revealed until 2019, that she is a girl.
* ApocalypseHow: We've got a ClassX4 situation on our hands. Sure, the larger multi-verse will be fine, but this universe will be hurtin'.
* BigBad: The first and so far one of two villains the Galaxy Girls face.
* SealedEvilInACan: Well, it was until Milky Way's curiosity got the better of her.
* OmnicidalManiac: Either doesn't care or isn't aware that everybody in the Universe is threatened with destruction thanks to its vortex.
* OutOfFocus: Simultaneously averted and played straight. Averted because we know of Black Hole's larger place in the story and her origins based upon the few story ideas and story boards Miss Faust has released online, something that can't be said for any other character except for Milky Way herself and Saturn. Played straight because we know the fewest details about her out of all the characters Faust has revealed, including her gender or lack thereof and any details about her appearance or anything of depth about its personality.
* PowerOfTheVoid: Enough power to pose a threat to the entire universe.

[[caption-width-right:206:There's no time to invade Earth! There is only time for dancing!]]
Super-cute extraterrestrials that love to party at Saturn's place. Appear to be somewhat similar to but distinct from Mars.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Come in pink, yellow, green, blue, and purple varieties.
* BizarreAlienBiology: Their only unusual anatomy (aside from being diminutive compared to the Galaxy Girls) are their antennae, which they share with Mars.
* DanceSensation: They are enraptured by Saturn's talent as a deejay. Saturn is able to take advantage of this by controlling their position on her dance floor until they're in one giant column, allowing Milky to find one of the eleven fragments of Black Hole's prison.
* DancingIsSeriousBusiness: It doesn't start out that way, but as Saturn's music becomes more frantic, they begin to don slightly-more serious expressions.
* FacelessMasses: Almost, but not quite.
* InnocentAliens: Their numbers and love of dancing make Milky's search for the first of the shards of Black Hole's prison difficult for a while, but that's all the harm to come from them.
* LittleGreenMen: And pink, and purple, and so on...
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: I mean, look at them!

[[folder:Charon]]
Pluto's annoying younger sibling who won't stop pestering her.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Always eager to bother Pluto.
* OutOfFocus: Was only mentioned [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/47459405/393539496 in the comments on a Deviantart post.]]
