[[folder:Colfenor]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/colfenor.jpg]]

-> ''Color:'' Black and green, White (formerly)
-> ''Race:'' Treefolk
-> ''Class:'' Shaman

Dubbed the Last Yew, Colfenor is one of the oldest Treefolk in Lorwyn and foresees the coming of the Great Aurora, which will plunge the bright Lorwyn into the dark Shadowmoor, wiping out the memories of their inhabitants. He is killed some time prior to that event, but leaves behind a sapling which carries his memories until after Shadowmoor comes.
----
* DarkIsNotEvil: His Sapling is one of the few Black-aligned protagonists.
* GoodIsNotNice: He's closest thing to a BigGood in Lorwyn. A BigGood that [[ManipulativeBastard manipulates the crap]] out of everyone.
* LastOfHisKind: He's the last living Yew Treefolk.
* ThanatosGambit: He plans for his death to prepare for the Great Aurora.
* UnexplainedRecovery: Although not exactly as himself; the sapling is called a [[GenderBender she]]. Plus, Rhys has expected that the Sapling would take much longer to mature; instead, she matures rapidly.

-> ''Color:'' Green and white
-> ''Race:'' Kithkin
-> ''Class:'' Advisor

The cenn of the Lorwyn [[{{Hobbits}} kithkin]]. With his cenn threatened by the [[PuttingOnTheReich elves]], he orchestrated the fall of the protagonists. He was presumably killed, since he never appears again.
----
* AntiVillain: All he wanted was to protect his people from rabid elves. Unfortunately, this also makes him the central antagonist, as he needs to kill the hero.
* BigBad: Of the first Lorwyn set, alongside the elven general Nath.
* LightIsNotGood: Albeit simply by being a White-aligned antagonist. Otherwise he is fairly benevolent.
* ManipulativeBastard: He manipulates Brigid Baeli to kill Rhys. [[{{Irony}} He himself is on the receiving end from Colfenor]].
* WellIntentionedExtremist: When faced with murderous genocidal elves, manipulation and sacrificing the protagonists is an understandable course of action.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Oona]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oona_0.jpg]]

-> ''Color:'' Blue and black
-> ''Race:'' Faerie
-> ''Class:'' Wizard

The queen of the faeries. She is another of the few individuals aware of the Great Aurora, and in fact is immune to it.
----
* BigBad: The main antagonist of the Shadowmoor block.
* TheFairFolk: The leader of a court of highly malicious fairies, though she herself is more of a pragmatist.
* LargeAndInCharge: She's the largest being among the fae. Also, unlike her minions, who are insectoid, she appears as a woman covered in flowers.
* MindRape: Goes with her DreamWeaver territory. From [[http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=152079 Beseech the Queen]]:
-->''Those who hear her go mad with inspiration.''
* WellIntentionedExtremist: ...sort of. She did try to minimize the effects of the Aurora on the inhabittants of her plane, but ultimately only cares enough about [[TheFairFolk her subjects]] to have them thoroughly unaltered.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rosheen Meanderer]]
[[quoteright:273:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rosheen.jpg]]

-> ''Color:'' Red and green
-> ''Race:'' Giant
-> ''Class:'' Shaman

A giant who is yet another one to be aware of the Great Aurora. She manages to resist the effect of the aurora unlike her kin and thus is the only giant in Shadowmoor who keeps her memories of Lorwyn intact.
----
* TheCassandra: She has visions of the nature of the plane and of Shadowmoor's past as sunny, idyllic Lorwyn, but nobody believes her and thinks she's insane.
-->''Night after night, Rosheen babbled about a bygone sunlit world, her every word dismissed as a madwoman's ravings.''
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Demigods]]

-> ''Race:'' Spirit Avatar

Shadowmoor's mysterious deities, which seemingly are [[JerkassGods responsible]] for its [[CrapsackWorld screwed up]] status. While absent from the main storyline, they are the subject of the poem [[https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/seers-parables-2008-08-05 The Seer's Parables]], where a kithkin asks a seer about them.
----
* AnimalisticAbomination: The Deity of Scars and the Demigod of Revenge, the former looking like a lupine satyr and the latter like a bat.
* BatOutOfHell: The Demigod of Revenge. Quite literally too, given his tale.
* DarkIsEvil: Predictably, most of the Black-aligned deities [[spoiler:especially the Divinity of Pride, though it also gets LightIsNotGood points]].
* DarkIsNotEvil: Probably the Deity, depending on how you interpret his character.
* EldritchAbomination: All of them are strange, inexplicable and terrifying beings seemingly elemental to the darkness of Shadowmoor.
* {{Expy}}: Of several [[Myth/CelticMythology celtic]]/[[Myth/NorseMythology norse]] deities, with the most blatant being the Oversoul (Sunna and other female sun goddesses of the area), the Nobilis (Thor and/or Neigh), the Ghastlord (Arawn), the Deity (Nodens) and the Divinity (The Morrigan).
* HumanoidAbomination: Most of them.
* JerkassGods: Aside from the Oversoul (seems benign), the Deus (destructive, but more or less mindless), and ''maybe'' the Deity (who drives living beings to keep on fighting for survival), all of them are at best incredibly dickish.
* LightIsGood: The Oversoul, however, is the one truly benevolent demigod.
* LightIsNotGood: Special mentions go to the Godhead of Awe, which drives mortals mad for no logical reason, and the Nobilis of War, which incites hatred and violence for his own sustainance.
* {{Lunacy}}: The Godhead of Awe, which appearently is the personification of the Moon. Also literally, as it drives people mad.
* MindRape: The Godhead [[spoiler:and the Divinity]] engage in it.
* MySkullRunnethOver: [[spoiler:The Divinity inflicts this upon her poor kithkin victim at the end of the parables]].
* OurGodsAreDifferent: They're appearently higher spirits. Then again, Shadowmoor spirits are incredibly mysterious by themselves.
* ThePowerOfTheSun: The Oversoul, which appearently controls the Sun, and has [[TheNightThatNeverEnds hidden it]] for some reason
* WarGod: The Nobilis of War, down to invoking hatred and other negative emotions.
* YourSoulIsMine: The Dominus absorbs a king into the scepter he carries about, [[AndIMustScream with the king's soul still screaming]]. The Ghastlord is implied to do this, or possibly CessationOfExistence.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Dwynen]]

-> ''Color:'' Green
-> ''Race:'' Elf
-> ''Class:'' Warrior

An elven leader of Gilt-Leaf in Lorwyn, and one of the first elves Nissa met after her first planeswalk.
----
* TheFightingNarcissist: Standard among Lorwyn elves, who see themselves as the most beautiful beings in the plane and thus have the right to obliterate the ugly creatures out there (read: everyone who isn't an elf, and even some who are). Nissa was just lucky they considered her beautiful.
* HornedHumanoid: Again, standard for Lorwyn elves.
[[/folder]]

!Kamigawa

!!Ancient
[[folder:Toshiro Umezawa]]

-> ''Color:'' Black
-> ''Race:'' Human
-> ''Class:'' Samurai

[[http://magiccards.info/bok/en/89.html Toshiro Umezawa]], or "Toshi" for short, is the Black-aligned protagonist of the ''Kamigawa'' saga. Toshi's only true loyalty is to himself, and [[GuileHero he'll never fight when it's possible to bargain]]. Luckily for the rest of Kamigawa, it's currently in his best interest to save the world.
----
* AntiHero: Toshi is selfish and underhanded, and his first instinct upon rescuing the princess is to ransom her.
* BadassFamily: If his so-called descendant Satoru is to be believed, he evidently lived long enough to have a family.
* DarkIsNotEvil: A prominent example of black taking a heroic role in the storyline.
* DeadpanSnarker: He likes to snark.
* GuileHero: The quintessential example. In an early scene, he joins a group of assassins contracted to kill the ogre Hidetsugu. While the other assassins jump into the fray, Toshi hangs back. After all his companions are dead, he calmly approaches Hidetsugu and offers to become [[SwornBrothers blood brothers]] instead. (It works.)
* HandicappedBadass: [[spoiler:At the end of ''Saviors'', the Myojin of Night's Reach blinds him.]]
* HistoricalHeroUpgrade: In-universe historical records frame Toshiro as a noble selfless hero. While his actions ''did'' save Kamigawa, he was always looking out for himself first and foremost.
* {{Irony}}: Toshi is a samurai; his claimed descendant Satoru is a ninja.
* JustWhistle: Toshi negotiates a bargain of this nature with a giant moth whose life he saved.
* {{Ronin}}: Toshi has no daimyo.
* SealedBadassInACan: The [[AnIcePerson yuki-onna]]. Toshi does the sealing.
* ShadowWalker: Got fused with the Shadow Gate, allowing him to move around freely in all of Kamigawa's shadows.
* ToThePain: Modus operandi of the Hyozan Reckoners. Toshi delivers a particularly BadassBoast to Kobo's murderer:
-->We will kill you.\
[[DisproportionateRetribution We will burn your fields, steal your treasure, destroy your house, and enslave your children. We will murder your spouse, poison your pets, and blaspheme on the graves of your ancestors. We will do all this, and the only way to avoid it is if we cannot find you.]]\
We've already found you.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Konda, Lord of Eiganjo]]

-> ''Color:'' White
-> ''Race:'' Human
-> ''Class:'' Samurai

The central villain of the Kamigawa Block, [[http://magiccards.info/chk/en/30.html Takeshi Konda]] is the ruler of a vast empire spanning most of Kamigawa. Seeking immortality so he could personally ensure that his kingdom would last forever, he committed a great crime that triggered the spirit war and eventually drove him to madness.
----
* AndIMustScream: His fate following his judgment by Kyodai. Essentially turned to stone and broken into many still conscious pieces, some of which still endure thousands of years later.
* BigBad: Of the Kamigawa block. For the longest while the only main antagonist to be purely White-aligned.
* BlackEyesOfCrazy: Konda's eyes are the only visual indication of his transformation. They change color and begin to swivel around randomly.
* TheCaligula: He's quite mad to begin with, and when Toshi steals his precious PowerSource, he goes into full crazy mode and devotes the full resources of his empire to its pursuit.
* TheDeterminator: Konda kidnapped a god in order to secure everlasting prosperity for his kingdom. The gods turned on the mortal world as a result, and by the events of the novels, twenty years of war and strife have reduced Konda's once-mighty kingdom to a scarred fraction of its former size. In spite of all the death and suffering, Konda's blind pride refuses to let him see anything but victory.
* TheEmperor: His role.
* AGodAmI: Konda fancies himself the all-powerful eternal ruler of the realm.
* TheHeavy: Konda is the central figure, not only of the mortal realm but of the story, and his actions drive the entire Kamigawa plot.
* LightIsNotGood: Despite all of this, he is still pure White. For added bonus see his depiction in [[http://magiccards.info/query?q=!Reverence Reverence]].
* NighInvulnerable: Stealing That Which Was Taken has granted him immense physical durability and immortality. To kill him Kyodai needed to petrify him and smash him into pieces. [[AndIMustScream Which are not dead]].
* ParentalNeglect: He cares more about his power than he does about his daughter, and rarely ever speaks to her or spends time with her.
* SanitySlippage: He becomes more and more obsessed as the trilogy progresses.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: His power turned him into TheCaligula.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Hidetsugu]]

-> ''Color:'' Black and red
-> ''Race:'' Ogre demon
-> ''Class:'' Shaman

A demon-worshiping ogre mage that lives in the Sokenzan Mountains. Toshi's blood brother and co-founder of the Hyozan Reckoners.
----
* AffablyEvil: Hidetsugu has civilized conversations with his guests, all while his prisoner screams in the background from having a superheated gem embedded in his chest.
* AxCrazy: A demon worshipper who kills and tortures at his leisure.
* BadassBookworm: He is rather erudite and a philosopher.
* TheDeterminator: He bulldozes through everything without stopping until the Oni of All Consuming Chaos is unleashed.
* DisproportionateRetribution: He levels the entire Minamo academy to the ground because ''one'' of their students killed his apprentice in self defense.
* TheDreaded: "Heartless Hidetsugu" is among the most terrifying figures of the Kamigawa underground, capable of even enslaving entire armies.
* EnemyMine: During the Phyrexian's multiversal invasion, Hidetsugu is freed from the spirit realm by none other than the Blue Divine Dragon Kairi, who's previous incarnation Keiga was murdered by Hidetsugu himself ages ago, in order to help fight off the invasion. Hidetsugu, for his part, happily agrees to help due his own amusement of the situation and desire to finally wreak some havoc again.
* FusionDance: Similar to how That Which Was Taken and Michiko merged to form Kyodai, he eventually manages to fuse with his master and effectively take over his position.
* ReligionOfEvil: Like most Kamigawa ogres he worships the omi demons, and was a rather devout servant of the Oni of All Consuming Chaos.
** He eventually ascends to becoming its GodOfEvil after consuming/fusing with said Oni, and still has the position by the time ''Neon Dynasty'' rolls around.
* TheStarscream: [[spoiler:When he realizes his master fled from battle, he chases him back to the Honden of the All-Consuming and beats the shit out of him.]]
* SealedEvilInACan: By the modern day, his now demonic form has been imprisoned in the spirit realm by Kyodai. He ends up being released by Kairi when [[GodzillaThreshold the Phyrexians invade Kamigawa]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mochi]]

-> ''Color:'' Blue
-> ''Race:'' Spirit

The Kami of the Crescent Moon, the mysterious, ever-smiling Mochi is the patron of the Soratami. He manipulated Konda into taking a piece of O-Kagachi as part of a plot to gain more jurisdiction than just a few moon phases.
----
* BigBadWannabe: His influence helped cause the Kami War. His role in the narrative, however, serves primarily to shed light to the protagonists (and the reader) on the origins of the War (though he tends to gloss over his own involvement). He seeks the eventual destruction of Konda's kingdom as well as the rest of the non-soratami civilisations so that his worshippers, the Soratami, can remake the world in their image. However, shortly after his Soratami armada is finally launched to realize his goals, Konda discovers Mochi's betrayal and wipes out the Soratami fleet before they can do any real damage beyond the Jukai Forest and Takenuma Swamp massacres and getting a group of Orochi eaten by O-Kagachi, bringing Mochi's endgame to a screeching halt.
* TheChessmaster: A very clever trickster; he might have succeeded in his plan had his former ally, Konda, not discovered his treachery.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Exceptionally polite, even as he plots genocide.
* ForTheEvulz: While his primary motivation was perfecting the world [[InTheirOwnImage in his image]], he also just wanted to sate his curiosity. Apparently he was really curious about all manner of war time atrocities.
* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler:Torn apart by the demonic Hidetsugu at the end of the novels.]] It is oh so satisfying.
* MeaningfulName: An especially clever and elusive one; "mochi" is rice dough, which the chubby little kami's body resembles. In Japanese lore, the moon holds the image of a rabbit pounding mochi dough (hence the association with the moon). Mochi's followers, the Soratami (or Moonfolk), bear physical similarities to rabbits. There's also a more direct pun involved: "mochi" can be short for "mochizuki" (望月), or "full moon".
* OmnicidalManiac: His ideal of "perfection" = get as many non-soratami life forms killed as possible.
* SmugSnake: His grandiose genocidal plans are ultimately interrupted and he stops being able to put teeth behind his arrogance.
* SmugSmiler: His grotesque smile in his card art s made even worse in narration.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:O-Kagachi]]

-> ''Color:'' 5 Color
-> ''Race:'' Dragon spirit

The ruler of all kami. After Lord Konda stole a piece of him for the sake of immortality, the vengeful kami declared war on humanity.
----
* DraconicAbomination: Looks like a massive long serpent with a mane made of smaller snakes.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Michiko Konda]]

-> ''Color:'' White
-> ''Race:'' Human
-> ''Class:'' Advisor

Daughter of Lord Konda. It was around her birth that Lord Konda got the idea of capturing a piece of O-Kagachi for his ritual.
----
* BarrierMaiden: [[spoiler:She and Kyodai team up after the war to become the new guardians of the barrier between the mortal and spirit realms]].
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:With Kyodai.]]
* TheHighQueen: After the Kami War she went on to have a longing legacy of truth and justice, never denying her family name or her father's crimes.
* LastOfHerKind: The last Konda as Emperor.
* SilkHidingSteel: She graces that trope's page as the page picture.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:That Which Was Taken/The Taken One/Kyodai]]

-> ''Color:'' White
-> ''Race:'' Spirit dragon

A fragment of the soul of O-Kagachi, stolen from the spirit realm by Lord Konda in order to perform a ritual that would make him invincible.
----
* ArtifactOfAttraction: Especially pronounced in ''Saviors of Kamigawa'', where Konda and O-Kagachi himself both go on huge-scale rampages chasing after their prize.
* BarrierMaiden: [[spoiler:She and Michiko team up after the war to become the new guardians of the barrier between the mortal and spirit realms]].
* DraconicAbomination: Fitting for a kami, her depiction in ''Neon Dynasty'' is mind-bending, made of many arms and faces.
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:With Michiko.]]
* MacGuffinTurnedHuman: Takes a human form when Toshi releases her from the stone disc towards the end of the war.
[[/folder]]

!!Modern
[[folder:Nashi]]

-> ''Color:'' Black (primary), Green and blue
-> ''Race:'' Nezumi
-> ''Class:'' Ninja, Shaman

A young RatFolk orphaned by Tezzeret's razing of his village. Thankfully, Tamiyo adopted him and now he expresses interest in technology.
----
* BrokenBird: His first apparence in ''Release'', understandably still recovering from the brutality of what happened to his family. As of ''Neon Dynasty'' he seems to have mostly healed, though Tamiyo goes to great lengths to not remind him.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Possibly the strongest example in all of ''Magic''. As a [[RatFolk Nezumi]] {{Ninja}}, Nashi is associated with [[CastingAShadow black mana]]. Personality-wise, however. he is nothing more than a sweet-natured, curious young boy.
* DramaticIrony: He lost his parents twice to Tezzeret: first he razed his village and burned Nashi birth parents to death, [[spoiler:then kidnapped Tamiyo and sent her over to Phyrexia, where she was compleated]].
* GadgeteerGenius: Loves technology and excitedly asks Kaito about his drone.
* HappilyAdopted: Loves his guardian Tamyio, the only adopter who never tried to replace his parents.
* InterspeciesAdoption: A nezumi (anthropomorphic rat) adopted by a moonfolk.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Risona]]

-> ''Color:'' Red and white
-> ''Race:'' Human
-> ''Class:'' Samurai

The leader of the Asari Uprisers, who took the Emperor's long absence very hard.
----
* LightIsNotGood: Another White aligned antagonist in Kamigawa, the final boss even.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: The Emperor's absence meant an increasingly corrupt court and poor living conditions for the underclasses. She will have none of that.
* VillainHasAPoint:
-> "You may have Kyodai, but it is the people's faith that makes a true leader. And the people lost faith in your return long ago—they will not see you the same way they once did."
[[/folder]]

!Fiora

[[folder:Brago, King Eternal]]

-> ''Color:'' White and Blue
-> ''Race:'' Spirit (formerly Human)
-> ''Class:'' Noble

King of Fiora, he recently died and returned as a ghost. Eventually assassinated under the order of Marchesa, who desires to become queen.
----
* DidntSeeThatComing: None were more surprised than the Custodi to see his form coalescing before them.
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: A day after announcing "Reign of Brago", the King Eternal himself was killed.
* EvilFormerFriend: To Selvala.
* LightIsNotGood: White aligned and an evil tyrant.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: Is a spirit that remained anchored to Fiora thanks to his priests. Kaya "[[DeadlyEuphemism freed]]" him, killing him again.
* PuppetKing: The Custodi's plans for him. His senility before his death and their aims to keep the news under wraps would have facilitated this, had not the man demanded otherwise.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Selvala]]

-> ''Color:'' Green (primary), White
-> ''Race:'' Elf
-> ''Class:'' Scout

Advisor, confidant, and friend to King Brago before his resurrection.
----
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Or at least to all people. She was instrumental both in keeping Brago's plans from harming the people and in gaining his support among the people of the Low City.
* MercyKill: After the Custodi was prolonging his life to the point of agony, Selvala sneaked in to inflict a mercy killing on Brago. This only ended up releasing his spirit and got her banished to the dungeons by the Custodi.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Marchesa, the Black Rose]]

-> ''Color:'' Black (primary), Blue, Red, and White
-> ''Race:'' Human
-> ''Class:'' Wizard, Assassin, Noble

Head of Paliano's foremost crime syndicate and spy network. She later becomes queen after having Brago assassinated.
----
* FromNobodyToNightmare: She comes from a small family, far from royalty. While she eventually became one of Fiora's most infamous criminals, she manages to one-up that by becoming the plane's queen.
-->'''Marchesa:''' I pray that everyone who claimed me a fallen daughter of a fallen house enjoyed ''their'' fall from the High City.
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Former crime lord who has the king assassinated to become queen? This can't be good.
* ManipulativeBitch: Is deemed as such in-universe by her WorthyOpponent, a smuggler named Ervos Trax.
* PoisonedWeapons: She relies mostly on poisons hidden in her gems to physically defend herself.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: During the Phyrexian invasion of the Multiverse, Marchesa went out to kick the asses of some of the invaders herself.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Grenzo, Dungeon Keeper of the High City]]

-> ''Color:'' Red (primary), Black
-> ''Race:'' Goblin
-> ''Class:'' Rogue

----
* ManipulativeBastard: He attempts to get Selvala to kill Muzzio.
* OurGoblinsAreDifferent: Is a large, muscular goblin, making him stand out among his fellow Fioran goblins.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Muzzio]]

-> ''Color:'' Blue
-> ''Race:'' Human
-> ''Class:'' Artificer

* ActualPacifist: "I can [murder], but I do not need to. For every obstacle toward my grand design, there is a very simple, nonviolent solution: information."

* GuileHero: Orchestrates the removal of several obstacles without using a stab in the back, drop of poison, or any other form of violence.
* MadScientist: Implied to want to replace organic life with a mechanical world.
* NoHistoricalFiguresWereHarmed: Based off of Leonardo da Vinci, being a mechanical genius on a plane themed around Renaissance Italy.
* PutOnABus: After his attempt to start a coup with an army of mechanical soldiers is discovered, Muzzio is exiled from Palliano between the events of the first ''Conspiracy'' and ''Take the Crown''. 376----
* EvilMentor: He essentially raised Jace to be a ChildSoldier.
* KarmicDeath: For wiping Jace's memories to turn him into his underling, Jace returned the favor by tearing everything he could out of Alhammaret's mind, during their final duel. Up to and including the memories of how to breathe.
* ManipulativeBastard: As soon as Jace's spark ignited, Alhammaret wiped the memory of it from Jace's mind, simply to retain control of him.
* PlayingBothSides: The main crux of his scheme: he would send Jace to gather and sell intelligence to both sides of a war under the guise of it being necessary for his work as arbiter but wiping Jace's memory each time so he didn't notice he was doing so for both sides. Jace only figured out the truth when he found himself in a soldier's memories.

* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Is one of the rare "gifted" aetherborn that can drain the life energy of other sentient beings to prolong their own lifespan. However, Yahenni abhors using such power to simply live longer, insisting in their last moments that they will not live their life as a killer.

* {{Mummy}}: He is in charge of making them, or at least of overseeing their creation. His card also sees him turn into one, though it isn't reflected in the stories.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: He disappears from the narrative after finding Jace and Liliana investigating the mummy creation process and being knocked out in their escape, with the implication being that the hit killed him accidentally. This is further implied by his card having the Embalm ability: he can be raised as a mummy after he dies in-game, meaning that his death and existence as a mummy may actually happen in-story.

!!The Skoti, Gods of Kaldheim
[[folder:In General]]
* AmbiguouslyRelated: Reidane and Valki, to the rest of the Skoti. Valki is refered to by Toralf as brother at one point, but not in what context. Reidane appears to be a valkyrie and live in Starnheim, which is normally off limits to the living, even the gods.
* BadassFamily: The Skoti are a family of gods, withn all the headaches that come with that fact.
* DeityOfHumanOrigin: Alrund, Jorn, Egon and Halvar, a third of the Skoti, were once human. Cosima was a Cosmos Monster, while Toralf, Birgi, Kolvori, Esika and Tergird are all HalfHumanHybrids. Valki and Reidane's origins are unknown, but Reidane appears to be a Valkyrie.
* {{Expy}}: Of the [[Myth/NorseMythology Norse Pantheon]].
* TheGodsMustBeLazy: The Skoti have a less than spectacular record when it comes to defending or solidifying their rule over Kaldheim, often being more invested in their own personal whims and squabbles. That said, when there is a grave threat to the realms they do step up.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Toralf, Birgi and Kolvori are the children of Alrund, a human, and Cosima, who, while human in appearance, is a Cosmos Monster. Esika and Tergrid are the daughters of Alrund and the World Tree, born when Alrund tried using magic to divine the secrets of the Cosmos from it.
* HomeOfTheGods: A two-fold example. The first is the Hall of the Gods, where the Skoti gather. The second that is mentioned is The Gods Realm, where the hall used to be located before one of Valki's pranks moved it to Istfell.
* ImmortalityInducer: The Elixer of the Gods, which only Esika knows how to brew, gives them their godly power and slows their aging.
* JerkassGods: They are noted as generally petty and vindictive. They also seem pretty careless, not bothering to fix the curse put on the Kannah and putting half-assed runes to ward off Immersturm's demons (a half-assery exploited by Tibalt).
* PowerTattoo: Each Skoti has rune-like tattoos that glow with the light of the Cosmos.
* WintryAuroralSky: They shine with the northern lights. This is apparently a result of their Cosmos-elixir-induced divinity.

* {{Expy}}: Of Odin, being a god of knowledge with a raven familiar. He's even calle the "All Father".
* {{Familiar}}: He commands ravens, who act as his eyes across Kaldheim. He is often accompanied by his personal familiar, Hakka.
* GeniusBruiser: Alrund was already a knowledge diety and he subdued the vast majority of Cosmos Monsters in the acquistion of more knowledge.
* GodInHumanForm: He disguises himself as the Omenseeker Asi and accompanies Kaya at the start of the Kaldheim story.
* GodOfKnowledge: He is associated with wisdom and knowledge. He was born wise enough to know that he wasn't omniscient, and made it his mission in life to know everything.
%%* OldBeggarTest: It is implied that, just like the Norse god he is based on, Alrund does this from time to time.%%Does what? Implied how?

* HardDrinkingPartyGirl: She's pretty much the god of this trope, spending her life moving from party to party.
* TheStoryteller: One of her duties to spread the tales of the Skoti, but not all of these tales are true. She has hired skalds to follow her brother Toralf so she can claim credit for his deeds.

* {{Expy}}: Of Rán, Njörðr and Skað, the Norse gods of the sea.
* HumanityEnsues: Entering the Gods Realm caused her to assume a human form.
* MakingASplash: She can control the seas of Kaldheim.
* {{Shapeshifting}}: She changed into a human form upon entering the Gods' Realm and is believed to travel among the shapeshifters of Littjara disguised as one of their own.
* TokenNonHuman: She's the only member of the Skoti to be confirmed to be completely non-human, having originally been a dolphin Cosmos Monster.

----
* {{Archenemy}}: Of Ragnar and Firja, who foil his attempts to enter Starnheim before his death.
* AuthorityInNameOnly: While he proclaims himself the god of all dead, Egon cannot enter Starnheim, he is hated in Karfell and the spirits of Istfell only vaguely accept his rule and need to be subjected to his godly magic to do anything for him.
* BargainWithHeaven: Narfi made a deal with him, granting him warriors to finish off the Einir gods while allowing the king and his people to becomes [[OurZombiesAreDifferent draugr]].
* BigDamnHeroes: In the backstory, it was him arriving with the army of Karfell against the Einir that turned the tide in favor of the Skoti.
* CoolChair: His throne of Death certainly looks cool, but what it does is unknown. Firja implies that it may play a role in his able to avoid death in Istfell.
* TheCynic: Frequently voices his belief that the Skoti rule will be soon overthrown due to their shortcomings, usually by the elves.
* DarkIsEvil: He's honestly not a very good person, constantly trying to take over the ten realms and not above using pawns to do so. However, he does seem to have a very begrudging affection for his family.
* {{Expy}}: Basically a genderbent Hel.
* GodOfTheDead: He rules over death and the Underworld of Istfel, where the ignoble dead go. However, he has no access to the heavenly realm of Starnheim, where the blessed warriors go, much to his chagrin.
* MerlinSickness: Ages backwards; his memory seems to work normally, but he adopts the maturity level of his current phase of life, and is currently a moody teenager.
* MultiversalConqueror: Wants to conquer all Ten Realms of Kaldheim, starting with Starnheim.
* {{Necromancer}}: Can command spirits and is responsible for King Narfi and his subjects becoming draugr zombies.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Is actually one of the older members of the Skoti, but an odd effect of the Cosmos Elixer causes him to age backwards.
* ResurrectiveImmortality: Though he turns to ash when killed, Firja implies that as long as Egon dies in Istfell, he can return to life.
* SinisterScythe: Befitting the god of death, Egon possesses one made of Tyrite.
* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: He's the only Skoti known not to be related to Alrund's family.

* MagicPotion: She is the only one who can brew the elixer that gives the Skoti their godhood.
* PolarOppositeTwins: Esika is the bright and cheerful one.

* HappilyAdopted: Found as a baby by Alrund and since loyal to him and the rest of his family.
* {{Irony}}: The white-aligned Skoti god is the one who shines the least with the northern lights, emphasising his humility.

* {{Expy}}: Of Sól, the Norse sun goddess.
* GodOfLight: Though officially she's the "god of justice", her artwork depicts her shining radiantly and she seems to rule over Starnheim (how and why is unexplained considering its otherwise off-limits to the gods). Her card also forces snow lands to come in tapped, implying her light is melting them off.

----
* AmbiguousSituation: Trapped in ice as he is and with Esika mauled to death ([[TheVirus or worse]]) by Vorinclex its unclear if he will remain immortal.
* BeyondTheImpossible: He actually managed to catch a horse that was said to be uncatchable. The saddling however was just the set up for a prank on the other Skoti.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Is mono-black but is noted as being a harmless prankster. Tibalt impersonating him soiled his reputation.
* {{Expy}}: An extremely non-subtle one of Loki. In fact he alludes to the disconnect between the hamrless prankster Loki in early parts of the Eddas and the malicious Satan analogue in Ragnarok, namely being another person taking his place.
* ShouldersOfDoom: His coat incorporates quite the sizable pair.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Considering the real Valki has no role other than being impersonated by Tibalt, we don't really know anything about him other than he's harmless.

[[folder:In General]]
* GreyandGrayMorality: Just as morally complicated as their successors the Skoti. On one hand they did things like give boats that could travel through the Cosmos to the raiders of Karfell, but they were more diligent in keeping the demons of Immerstrum sealed in their realm.
* PowerAtAPrice: It is noted by Lathril that each of the Einir lost something when they achieved godhood. For Lathril that was most of her eyesight.
* {{Precursors}}: To the elves of Skemfar, before being divided into the Wood and Shadow Elves.
* SealedEvilInACan / SealedGoodInACan: The elves believe the remaining Einir were sealed into Jaspera Trees on Skemfar. Given the Skoti's own complicated moral standings, the Einir could fall into either trope.

* HandicappedBadass: The price Lathril paid to become a god was her vision. She had no peripheral vision and could only see clearly a few feet in front of her, rendering effectively blind. This did nothing to stop her from taking on a horde of draugr singlehandedly or leading her forces against the Skoti.

* LifeOfTheParty: The Cabaretti's M.O. is holding lavish parties the other families attend. His card even calls him the "Nexus of Revels."

* BarrierWarrior: True to his family, he gets a Shield Counter upon being summoned.
* CrazyPrepared: Has been amassing a large amount of Brokers contracts to prepare for a coming threat to the Plane. This manifests in gameplay in that he allows the player to look at the top card of their library, and play that card in exchange for a token on the field ''in addition'' to any other costs.
* FeatheredFiend: An evil bird mob boss. The "fiend" part is also literal since he's a demon.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Apparently was the dominant player in New Capenna until Ob Nixilis showed up.
* PetTheDog: When Perrie, one of his enforcers, refuses to punish a child that broke one of the Brokers' contracts, Falco calls him up to his office. Falco makes a point of intimidating Perrie, but when Perrie holds his ground, Falco spares him, acknowledging that he needs people to act as his conscience.

* DiscardAndDraw: In a way, and especially given the way the Riveteers work with their ''Blitz'' mechanic; at the beginning of your end step, as long as Ziatora's on the field, you can sacrfice another creature to deal that creature's damage to any target and create three treasure tokens.
* LastOfHisKind: She is New Capenna's last remaining native dragon, not that she minds it.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: Her sole appearence in the story is at a rally, decrying the upper classes in favor of the underdogs. However, pretty much all other flavor, from videos to card descriptions, emphasise her selfishness and vanity.

[[http://magiccards.info/roe/en/4.html Emrakul]], [[http://magiccards.info/roe/en/6.html Kozilek]], and [[http://magiccards.info/roe/en/12.html Ulamog]] are the three progenitors of the EldritchAbomination Eldrazi race. They were [[SealedEvilInACan sealed away]] in Zendikar for eons by three ancient planeswalkers (Nahiri, Sorin, and Ugin), but the events of ''Rise of the Eldrazi'' released them to [[PlanetEater devour planes]] once more.
----
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: Just before the climax of ''Eldritch Moon'', Jace ends up in a mental conversation with Emrakul -- or, more accurately, his mind's flailing attempt at trying to comprehend Emrakul, so she appears in his mind as an angel similar to Emeria, the goddess she was worshipped as on Zendikar.
* AlienGeometries: Kozilek's very presence warps reality into a bizarre reflection of its true form, turning the land around it into a maze of Bismuth like crystals and causing the laws of physics to break down. Its brood lineage has similar powers, and its reflected in gameplay by having creatures blink, become unblockable, and countering spells.
* AnswersToTheNameOfGod: Stories about ''Eldritch Moon'''s plot on Magic's website see Emrakul addressed with capitalized female pronouns.
* AssimilationPlot: Instead of generating spawn like her 'siblings', Emrakul converts existing lifeforms into her spawn. [[spoiler: We see this on Innistrad when she is brought there by Nahiri, with the people and even angels becoming horrific abominations.]]
* AffablyEvil: [[BlueAndOrangeMorality More strange than evil]], but when Jace makes contact with Emrakul, she’s very polite and even outright friendly, if very, ''very'' weird.
* AboveGoodAndEvil: They're more like forces of nature than villainous entities. [[spoiler: Emrakul even seems confused that the people of Innistrad would want to resist her influence.]]
* BadassBoast: Surprisingly, Emrakul offers two as Jace communes with her.
-->'''Emrakul:''' "I am already winning, Jace Beleren. Let us play a game."\
"They are all my pieces, Jace Beleren. They always were. I just no longer want to play."
* BiggerIsBetter: The ''entire'' logic behind ''Rise of the Eldrazi''; the cheapest Eldrazi in that set costs seven mana.
* BlessedWithSuck: The ability that shuffle your graveyard back into your library when they die also shuts down cards like [[http://magiccards.info/arc/en/29.html Zombify]] that would help you cheat them into play sooner.
** CursedWithAwesome: Simultaneously, unlike other "Shuffle back into deck" cards, this one lets you reuse some cards (after some time) and makes it much more difficult for mill decks to defeat you. Entire combo decks have been built around the big 3 Eldrazi's ability to shuffle your graveyard back into your deck.
** As of ''Battle for Zendikar'' the ability has been lost; they've moved to weakening the reanimation spells rather than adding new abilities to the big creatures.
* {{Blue And Orange Morality}}: With Emrakul more so then the others. None of them are truly malicious, but she seems the most cognizant, while the other two are simply blind forces. When Jace interacts with a projection of Emrakul (in the shape of Emeria, an angel the people of Zendikar believed represented her), she interrupts Jace's angry flurry of questions by asking if he plays chess and would like a game with her (she loses the ''chess'' game, but on other fronts...) She also seems genuinely frustrated that Innistrad's population are being so hostile towards her as she reshapes them. Finally, [[spoiler:she became sealed in the moon because she wanted to be]].
* BodyHorror: Not on the Titans themselves, which are the way they are "naturally", but on basically everything influenced by Emrakul in ''Shadows over Innistrad'' and especially ''Eldritch Moon''. Knights and riders fusing into one entity, werewolves burning with internal fire, an entire town fused into a writhing blob monster... [[http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=409863 Grotesque Mutation]] even looks a bit like the page image ''for'' BodyHorror.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: [[spoiler:Specifically, the Gatewatch. And hell yeah they did. At the end of the Battle for Zendikar block, Kozilek and Ulamog are dragged onto the plane by Nissa using the leylines of Zendikar then obliterated by Chranda's inferno, created by draining the titans of their own mana and combining it with that of Zendikar. What's left is absorbed by Zendikar itself -- the plane consuming the titans as they tried to consume it. They are absolutely and entirely destroyed.]]
** HeroicRROD: Channelling that much raw mana put a pretty heavy strain on Chandra's magic, leaving her almost unable to use magic or her legs for a while.
** DidntThinkThisThrough: Ugin discouraged annihilating them originally on the grounds that they were a natural part of the Multiverse and their loss would cause terrible things to happen. As for what those are, we're not sure. Yet.
** Then on Innistrad, [[spoiler:Jace calls the Gatewatch again, adds a new member (Liliana), and helps Tamiyo imprison Emrakul in Innistrad's moon, a piece of which was formerly the Helvault]]. However, [[spoiler:it's then revealed that Emrakul ''imprisoned herself'', possessing Tamiyo in order to ensure it happened.]]
* DidWeJustHaveTeaWithCthulhu: Emrakul's mere mental presence rips apart the minds of Jace's friends, but due to his specialty, in ''his'' mindscape he sees {{A Form You Are Comfortable With}}. She requests a seat (she's a visitor in his mind, after all, it's only polite), asks him if he minds her working while they talk, inquires whether he still has a headache, offers to play chess with him, complains things aren't going the way she wanted them to, and then casually demolishes most of the mental scape with her true form. Bonus points for Jace saying the trope almost word for word.
* EldritchAbomination: The lesser Eldrazi are not distinct entities from the greater ones, but instead are different elements of the horror out in the Blind Eternities -- even the Ulamog card is not the whole of Ulamog, but instead is a part of the greater Ulamog creature being pushed into Zendikar to eat things. In an actual conversation (for a given value of "actual") [[spoiler:Emrakul isn't even sure if the Planeswalkers attacking/communing with her are real. They're just so insignificant she can't be certain.]]
* EldritchLocation: Whereas Ulamog simply reduces everything in its path to dust, Kozilek is a bit more creative, leaving behind trails [[http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=407696 that resemble bismuth crystals]].
* ExactWords: Note that when Emrakul/Emeria says she wants to play a game with Jace, she does not specify a game of ''chess''.
* ExtremeOmnivore: The Eldrazi eat ''everything'', including your permanents (with annihilator) and your library (with ingest). Ulamog, in particular, is defined by hunger without end.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: Signature of Kozilek and its brood lineage. Emrakul isn't too shabby, either; some of the mutations shown on ''Shadows over Innistrad'' depict people with more eyes than the standard.
* FaceHeelTurn: Being the master of MindRape among the three, Kozilek and its brood can also do this, as [[http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=198171 It That Betrays]], [[http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=402077 Turn Against]] and [[http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=407606 Eldrazi Obligator]] show.
** Emrakul-mutated creatures end up turning into extensions of the Titan and attempting to messily devour their former kin, and Emrakul's new card gives you full control over your opponent's next turn, essentially making your opponent pull a FaceHeelTurn on ''themselves.''
* FloatingContinent: Emrakul was mistaken for one at first (an understandable mistake given the presence of floating landmasses in Zendikar).
* HiddenAgendaVillain: In keeping with the general inscrutability of eldritch abominations, no one is sure why the Eldrazi exist or what their goals are. The reason Ugin had them sealed away instead of destroyed was because he didn't want to break something in the case that the Eldrazi were necessary to the multiverse.
* ILetYouWin: [[spoiler:Emrakul chooses to seal herself in the midst of handily overwhelming the Gatewatch.]]
* ItCanThink: For a lack of better words, Emrakul somehow converses with the Gatewatch, and is capable of making several actions normally done by sapient species, such playing chess with Jace, [[spoiler:and willingly sealing herself in the moon.]]
* TheJuggernaut: When one of these three is on the prowl, there's very few things that can make them so much as flinch. Emrakul's rampage on Eldritch Moon stands out as she bulldozed through everything that stood in her way, and was handing the Gatewatch's arses to them before she sealed herself, ''meaning that that she only stopped because she wanted to stop.'' This extends to them in terms of gameplay as well. The Eldrazi titans are powerful creatures that can easily do a ton of damage in a short time and aren't easy to stop, though their cost makes it very hard to get them out. Aside from being among the strongest creatures in the game, their initial three cards also have an effect where if they're put into the graveyard in any way, the graveyard is shuffled back into its player's deck. They also have the annihilator keyword, where defending players have to sacrifice permanents when they attack.
** [[https://scryfall.com/card/uma/6/kozilek-butcher-of-truth Kozilek, Butcher of Truth]] is more notable for his draw effect but his second card, [[https://scryfall.com/card/ogw/4/kozilek-the-great-distortion Kozilek, the Great Distortion]], has the menace keyword so he can only be blocked by two or more creatures. He also allows his controlling player to discard a card with specific mana cost to counter a spell of the same value.
** [[https://scryfall.com/card/uma/7/ulamog-the-infinite-gyre Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre]] and [[https://scryfall.com/card/bfz/15/ulamog-the-ceaseless-hunger Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger]] have the indestructible keyword. A target permanent is destroyed when the former is cast, while casting the latter exiles two target permanents. The latter card also forces the opponent exile the top 20 cards of their library everytime time he attacks.
** Emrakul is the strongest of the three, fitting as her cards are the most expensive to cast. [[https://scryfall.com/card/plist/2/emrakul-the-aeons-torn Emrakul, the Aeons Torn]] has a power and toughness of 15, the highest in the game at the time aside from a creature released in Unhinged, and can't be countered. She has annihilator 6, the highest of any creature with that keyword, forcing a defending player to sacrifice six permanents, and that is before she even deals damage. She has protection from colored spells, which between that and the fact that she can't be countered means most spells won't be able to stop her. If the player using her actually manage to cast Emrakul by paying her cost they get an extra turn. [[https://scryfall.com/card/emn/6/emrakul-the-promised-end Emrakul, the Promised End]] is a bit weaker, bringing down to a 13/13, but has a lower cost and an ability which lowers it for each type of card in her controller's graveyard, has the trample keyword and protection from instants. When cast she also gives her controller control of the opponent's next turn.
* MechanicallyUnusualClass: The processor mechanic in ''Battle for Zendikar'' is something R&D almost never does because they aren't fans of messing about with the exile zone, caring about colourless mana specifically was mostly unique to Kozilek in ''Oath of the Gatewatch'', and while double-faced cards existed before Emrakul's arrival on Innistrad, meld -- a mechanic in which two cards merge into one horrible abomination -- did not. Emrakul herself, in her ''Eldritch Moon'' printing, is one of the few cards of her time which has the protection keyword, when that keyword itself was being phased out in favour of more intuitive mechanics like hexproof and indestructible.
* MindRape: Their mere presence can cause madness, if you aren't ripped to shreds by the warped reality around them. And of course, there are always [[http://magiccards.info/roe/en/115.html more active methods]]. Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, is confirmed in the ''Battle for Zendikar'' fat pack booklet to be the worst for your sanity, although the others are no slouch, especially given the ingest mechanic. Emrakul's arrival on Innistrad was not good for the mental health of many people at all, although HeroicWillpower and ThePowerOfLove can help. Gameplay-wise, Emrakul lets you take control of your opponent's turn before giving your opponent a proper turn, representing Emrakul temporarily taking control of them herself before they revert to lucidity.
* MotherOfAThousandYoung: Each titan creates thousands, if not millions, of spawn in their image.
* NighInvulnerable: Emrakul is [[AntiMagic immune to most colored magic]]. Ulamog is [[ImmuneToBullets indestructible]]. Kozilek doesn't have any comparable protection ability, but [[DamageSpongeBoss 12 toughness is pretty hefty anyway]]. Lore-wise, the titans at full strength are nearly impossible to kill, even for nearly god-like pre-mending planeswalkers.
** In their later forms, Emrakul is immune to instants and gets a turn of forcing you to make the worst available decisions (plus having a 13/13 body), Kozilek can defend itself by discarding cards to turn them into counterspells, and Ulamog is... still indestructible.
** FightingAShadow: Even their massively powerful titan bodies are mere projections of their true forms in the Blind Eternities. Kozilek and Ulamog were eventually killed by dragging more of their true forms into Zendikar.
* NonElemental: They're too alien to correspond to any color of mana.
* OutsideContextProblem: The Eldrazi are native to the Blind Eternities, meaning that they are alien to basically everyone, everywhere. This is especially true for Emrakul, whose arrival boots out the GothicHorror elements of Innistrad and ushers in a CosmicHorrorStory.
* PlanetEater: They devour planes, erasing them completely.
* SealedEvilInACan: The Eldrazi were originally locked away on Zendikar thousands of years ago by the trio of Nahiri, Sorin, and Ugin.
** [[spoiler:After the events of ''Eldritch Moon'', the last living Eldrazi, Emrakul, seals herself in Innistrad's moon. One can only speculate what she's waiting for]].
* SinisterGeometry: Kozilek and its brood tend to have perfectly shapes hover behind them, and strange geometric apendages and crystals jutting out of them. The shapes are actually holes in space!
* SufficientlyAdvancedAliens: Over time, history became muddled and led to them being worshipped as gods by the natives of Zendikar. Once they re-emerged, that changed quickly.
* VillainExitStageLeft: [[spoiler:Emrakul was missing in action for the whole Battle for Zendikar block, and was confirmed by Ugin to have left Zendikar for a considerable amount of time after the act of pulling Kozilek and Ulamog onto the plane created "echoes" that Ugin could interpret. No one has any idea where Emrakul has gone...]] Until [[spoiler:Nahiri summons her to Innistrad as vengeance against Sorin]]. Later on, [[spoiler:she makes another 'exit' by sealing herself in the moon.]]
* VillainousGlutton: The aptly named "Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger" is this: When it attacks, the opponent exiles the top 20 cards of their library (one-third of a typical Constructed deck, and half of a typical Limited deck). This is a super-sized version of the Battle for Zendikar "Ingest" mechanic, which implies that Ulamog is literally eating people's thoughts and memories.
* WalkingWasteland: Their mere presence warps and destroys everything around them, as illustrated quite nicely in [[http://magiccards.info/roe/en/1.html All Is Dust]] and [[http://magiccards.info/roe/en/141.html Disaster Radius]]. [[http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/stf/84 This story]] particularly describes Emrakul's [[WorldWreckingWave world-wrecking]] capability.
* WhiteMaskOfDoom: Signature of Ulamog and its brood.
* WorfHadTheFlu: The Eldrazi Titans in the present are notably weaker than they were back when Nahiri, Sorin, and Ugin faced them due to the fact that Ugin's prison had been draining their mana via the leylines of Zendikar. [[spoiler:This more or less allows the Planeswalkers of the Gatewatch to kill both Kozilek and Ulamog by, among other things, dragging their true bodies onto the plane where they could be wholly destroyed.]]
* WorldWreckingWave: They can do this. Seen in [[http://magiccards.info/roe/en/1.html All Is Dust]] and [[http://magiccards.info/roe/en/100.html Consume the Meek]].
** Emrakul's arrival on Innistrad sent even the mildest mutation into overdrive, and caused countless minds to be absorbed into her brood, leading to Innistrad becoming a domain of hideous tentacle monsters and fusion horrors. Even the mightiest remaining angels were not immune, merging into the Voice of Nightmares.
* WoundThatWillNotHeal: It seems nothing will ever again grow where they have withered the ground. [[spoiler:However, after draining the mana of both Kozilek and Ulamog, Zendikar will eventually recover and heal from the damage it received from the Eldrazi. It's just going to take a hell of a long time.]]
* ZergRush: Their "attack" on Zendikar becomes this, as Ulamog and Kozilek resurface with their spawn that swarms across the landscape like a horde of alien insects.

----
* DraconicAbomination: Naturally, as a being that seems to be comfortable living in the Blind Eternities like the Eldrazi. As ''The Twins'' describes it:
-->''There is a shadow, a great shadow. It is not clouds, nor is it night. Ripples sweep through the vast airy gulf of the sky. The shadow is a magnificent creature, terrifying and dark and powerful, and it is blind, or maybe it was born in a place of blindness and does not know how to see.''
* DragonsAreDivine: It's not a god per se, but it is a vastly powerful being responsible for dragonkind's existence.
* MotherOfAThousandYoung: It birthed the first dragons across the multiverse.
* SummonMagic: Its roar stirs the blood of any dragon, no matter their plane, summoning the dragon to answer the will of its creator. [[http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=the%20ur-dragon The Ur-Dragon's card form]] reflects this by granting you effects that make summoning other dragons much easier.
* TimeAbyss: Said to have been born at the dawn of time.
* TrulySingleParent: ''The Twins'' shows how it births dragons - during its brief manifestations within the planes, it beats its wings and creates a storm. From these storms rain giant colored stones, stones which are in fact the eggs of dragons.
