Raylan Givens, on the other hand, is ''exactly'' the type of guy Boon is pretending to be, with aspects like his hat and his gun fighter skills merely a part of his character than an act he puts on to scare others.

185* TheGunslinger: Trick Shot variety. Loves to show off his fancy pistol skills and how quick he is on the draw to intimidate others. [[spoiler: This doesn't save him in the finale, where he loses to Raylan's quick draw.]]
186* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Boon establishes himself in a very frightening scene; he leaves a dead snake in Loretta's home, bursts through the front door with a big psychotic grin and proceeds to start a FauxAffablyEvil conversation with her littered with barely masked threats, boasts of his ability as a sharpshooter and calls himself deranged. All this makes it clear what a crazy, evil son of a bitch Boon is.
187* FauxAffablyEvil: He's all smiles and compliments, but he isn't even bothering to hide what an outright psychopath he is.
188* TheGunslinger: A villainous version. He flourishes his gun a lot, boasts about being a QuickDraw, and is a good enough shot to shoot the head off a snake.

201* TooDumbToLive: What ultimately does him in. [[spoiler: Not only does he pick a fight with a man famed for his own gunslinger skills, he fails to wear any body armor to protect himself. This is made especially egregious when he explains that body armor is the reason he favors head shots rather than aiming for the center mass. Had he worn a vest to his duel with Raylan, he likely would have won.]]
202* VillainousCrush: On Loretta, it seems. He's attracted to her, particularly her spirit, and acts very creepy toward her. When discussing her, he refers to her as "my girl".
203* WorthyOpponent: He appears to be building Raylan up as this in his mind. When he first meets him, he's giddy that Raylan is just the cowboy he pictured him as, and seems to look forward to the prospect of going up against him. Raylan's pretty put off by this attitude.
