And even though Kira was defeated, killed, and posthumously punished as a spirit, Hayato still wasn't satisfied with the resolution because it meant his father's killer basically got off scot-free for his crimes. In the epilogue, his mother foregoes eating dinner in favor of waiting for a husband and father who will never come back, causing Hayato to break down in tears and offer to wait with her, not wanting to break his mother's heart by telling her the ugly truth. |
