* AbusiveParents: Poisoning and torturing their children is completely normal to them.
* AcquiredPoisonImmunity: Part of their TrainingFromHell as children. Killua could drink cans of orange soda spiked with heavy-duty laxatives as if they were completely normal during the Hunter exams, and during the hit on Chrollo, his father Silva completely {{No Sell}}s Chrollo's poisoned knife, which was covered in enough neurotoxin to paralyze a ''whale'', yet Silva treated it like a papercut after stopping for a moment to suck the poison out of the wound and spit it away.
* BadassFamily: Not one of them isn't more dangerous than they look.
* BigScrewedUpFamily: There're quite a few of them. They have politics. And a few are rather hung up about rank. It's not a healthy mix.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Their standards veer markedly off what anybody else would consider normal parameters, even in this series, which is saying something. For all intents and purposes, you can think of their baseline as being somewhere around LawfulEvil or NeutralEvil. But, that's hardly a decent guide and doesn't give you nearly a third of the details.
* TheClan: With a big ol' house in the country, even.
* DysfunctionJunction: Well, what do you expect from a family that has been training children to be killers for generations? Well-adjusted, sociable souls by normal standards?
* FamilyBusiness: Which is killing. Bespoke or bulk: it'll be expensive.
* TheFamilyThatSlaysTogether: Puts bread on the table... and, [[ToughLove love each other]] in the [[{{Yandere}} weirdest]] [[{{Tsundere}} ways]] possible.
* FamilyThemeNaming: The five Zoldyck children. From oldest to youngest: Illumi, Milluki, Killua, Alluka, and Kalluto; taking the last syllable of the name of the previous child becomes the first syllable of the next child, and each one also has "llu" after the first vowel; if there were to be a sixth child, their name would logically begin with "Tollu-".
* Fiction500: To start with, they own an ''entire mountain'' and the land surrounding it. They have a cadre of badass butlers who are trained in a special, dedicated school, solely for the purpose of keeping outsiders from bothering them. The amount they charge for assassinations can run into the billions. Who knew assassination was such a lucrative occupation?
* LackOfEmpathy:
** So subverted, you wouldn't believe. Yes, they have major trouble engaging with others on a normal basis. But if you think this means they don't have emotions, you've got another thing coming. They're just... far from normal in how they [[SugarAndIcePersonality express what they have]].
** The exception to this is Illumi, who preforms many cruel actions and shows none of the Standards most of his family have.
* LoveIsAWeakness: Not towards one another but they disapprove of making relationships with people outside the family. Kikyo and Illumi don't like Killua going out and making friends, believing them to be a distraction preventing him from embracing the family business. They also don't allow their butlers to form romantic relationships with anyone on pain of death.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Family of Assassins' Estate".
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Generally, they don't kill anyone or get involved in the affairs of others unless they're being paid to. They also hold no loyalty to their clients and don't let conflicts of interest get in the way of accepting assassination contracts. When the Mafia hired Zeno and Silva to kill Chrollo, he simply hired Illumi, Maha, and Kalluto to assassinate the Mafia leaders before he could be killed, voiding the hit on him.
* {{Professional Killer}}s: And very, very good ones. If someone hires a Zoldyck to kill you, then you are better off trying to find who and have ''them'' killed, so as to cancel out the contract, than trying to defend yourself against them, or even engage another Zoldyck to do so.
* SugarAndIce: Some seem sweet or kooky on the outside, but are black ice on the inside or when on the job. Some are the classic ice on the outside, but show gooey centers in the right circumstances and only to the right people or things. [[{{Yandere}} Some hide active volcanoes under their glaciers.]] ''All'' can give you murderous-intent-induced freezer-burn in microseconds from either mode if you're not careful.
* TrainingFromHell:
** Every member of the family undergoes this type of training from a young age that increases their strength, speed, and resistance to pain.
** The household staff live in a constant state of training and everything they use is weighted. For example, their clothes can weigh between over 100 to 300 pounds, and the doors to the ''bathrooms'' weigh well over 1100 pounds. Even the smallest and lightest cutlery and dishes in the servant's house are weighed around 20 kilograms at least!

Zeno's grandfather, making him Killua's great-great-great-grandfather. He once fought Netero and is the oldest character of the manga.
----
* AdaptedOut: His debut scene is cut out of the 2011 anime remake.
* CoolOldGuy: A friendly-faced man in his 140's who is not only as old as [[WorldsBestWarrior Netero]], but [[HorrifyingTheHorror Netero]] was the one described as being the only man to '''survive''' a fight with ol' Maha.
* {{Gonk}}: His face looks like a clay Djinn.
* OutOfFocus: Appears all of one time in the story, doesn't get a speaking part, and is off on some unrelated assassination mission.
* Really700YearsOld: He is as old as Netero but aged considerably worse, though he is still rather spry walking unsupported in his ''at least'' fifteenth decade of life.
* WorldsStrongestMan: Possibly. Zeno said Netero is the only person that ever survived a fight against him. He didn't say who won that fight.

Killua's grandfather and Silva's father. For someone his age, he is shown to be a formidable fighter with a sharp mind. His Nen abilities revolve around emitting aura in the form of a dragon.
-----
* AlliterativeName: '''Z'''eno '''Z'''oldyck
* BadassBoast: He uses this to scare an entire room of Mafia dons and bodyguards into cowering silence while describing why he got hired to fight the Phantom Troupe.
--> ''"It would take me about seven seconds to kill each and every one of you, armed or not. The enemy is probably capable of the same. Now if you understand, shut up and wait. If you want to die, continue as you've been doing."''
* CameFromTheSky: His apparition during the Palace Invasion with his Dragon Dive.
* ColonyDrop: His Dragon Dive technique shatters a Dragon Head into countless smaller aura dragons that rain down from the sky.
* CoolOldGuy: Comes across as a bit of a wacky, old coot with a sense of humour when he isn't putting the GameFace on like a champ. Particularly in comparison to his daughter-in-law's total lack of anything remotely resembling flexibility towards new ideas.
* EverybodyHasStandards: He makes it a point to never kill anyone unless he's being paid to, remarking that assassination is his job, not his hobby. While he and Silva have Chrollo dead to rights, Illumi was hired to kill the Mafia members that called the hit on Chrollo ''by Chrollo'' and when Illumi calls his dad to inform them of this, they go to leave immediately because there's no more job.
* MythicalMotifs: Dragons. His nen abilities revolve around dragon-shaped aura attacks, and he's a powerful assassin from the famed Zoldyck family.
* NeverHurtAnInnocent: Despite the fact that he's violent and kills without hesitation, Zeno does not like to harm people that are outside of his contract work. This is demonstrated when he accidentally injures Komugi when he was out to kill the Chimera Ant King.
* SensingYouAreOutmatched: Powerful as he is, he's experienced enough to recognize his own limits and will freely admit to being weaker than someone if prompted. He admits to being significantly weaker than Netero, wanted nothing to do with the Chimera Ants after he'd done his part by providing the Hunter Association a dramatic entry and also internally admitted that a fight to the death with Chrollo would probably be a coin toss rather than a certain victory.
* ShapingYourAttacks: His nen attacks have the form of a dragon.
* SuperSpeed: While threatening members of the Mafia, he mentioned that he could kill all of the persons in that room in 7 seconds.

----
* AdaptedOut: Subverted, despite being only mentioned in Chapter 39, the 2011 anime mentioned her and even her silhouette.
* ActionMom: She is an assassin and the mother of Silva.
* DarkActionGirl: She is the grandmother of deadly assassins.
* TheGhost: She is only is shown as a silhouette standing between Maha and Killua in the 2011 anime.
* HesJustHiding: She, her status is not certain, but she never actually appeared.

Killua's father, who resembles Music/DavidBowie. Well, as seen in ''Film/{{Labyrinth}}'' anyway. Silva is pleasant towards everyone in his family and presumably everyone he hasn't been assigned to assassinate. He forgives Killua for not wanting to follow the rest of the family, much to his wife's dismay. He accompanies his father Zeno to dispatch Chrollo, but Illumi killed the man who ordered the hit, and the two called off the fight. Silva's ability seems to be energy blasts of varying sizes, not unlike those seen in ''Anime/DragonBallZ''.
-----
* ActionDad: Is Killua's father, and he kicks lots of ass in curbstompy ways.
* AdaptationDyeJob: Is given white hair in the 1999 anime, but the 2011 adaptation shows him having platinum blonde hair. [[HairColorDissonance Though the lighting in some scenes does give the impression of him having white hair.]]
* DotingParent: No, really. Despite the many and varied dangers most of his children pose to the world, he sincerely loves them all. He just has a really [[TrainingFromHell odd way]] [[ToughLove of showing it]].
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Allows Killua to leave the Zoldyck household and travel with Gon after listening to Killua explain his experience during the Hunter Exam. It's later revealed that he didn't do this out of the goodness of his heart (even though the way he did it was very parental and understanding), but because he believes that Killua is just [[RebelliousSpirit going through a phase]] that he'll eventually outgrow.
* {{Fanboy}}: [[SerialKiller Of Benny Delon]].
* GroundShatteringLanding: Performs one of these when he arrives to the Chimera Ant fight, which also happens to completely smush the unfortunate Cheetuh flat [[TooDumbToLive since the Ant was actually stupid enough]] [[BullyingADragon to pick a fight with Silva's dad just to test his new Nen power.]]
* HairColorDissonance: Although he is commonly portrayed as having platinum blonde hair, various lighting in some scenes gives the impression of him having silver hair.
* HappilyMarried: Totally in love with Kikyo, and is even willing to [[spoiler:allow Killua to walk out of the family's estate with Alluka in his arms rather than risk Kikyo's death-by-wish.]]
* IGaveMyWord: About letting Killua live in his own way for the time being. And, he's sticking to it. There is, however, a catch: he's fully expecting his son to come back permanently, on his own terms.
* LargeAndInCharge: The patriarch of the family and a giant muscled man.
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: Looks more like a character from ''Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar''.
* ParentalFavoritism: To Killua, the chosen heir.
* PunnyName: Silva is pronounced like Silver.
* ThePatriarch: The current head of the House. He will definitely listen to advice from the older ones (and, his darling, ever-beloved wife), but what he says ultimately goes (despite grumblings).
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Somewhat, Killua is the only one of his children to inherit his silver hair and blue eyes. Alluka also gets his blue eyes.
* ToughLove: Oh, boy... yes. One example? Throw your six-year-old son at a [[GladiatorGames gladiatorial]] [[TheTower tower of death]] [[TrainingFromHell to work his way up]] [[StealthMentor to the 200th Floor]]. Given what can very easily happen on that floor to Nen newbies, and you've got to wonder... Add all the torture, murder, and poison training (and how to endure it) his kids get and it leaves you only one sentence: "[[TricksterMentor What the hell, Silva]]?". But, it's not done because he hates them, and he ''knew'' Killua could not only take it [[TheGift but excel in such an environment]], and it's all because that's how Zoldycks grow up and he loves them to bits.
* WorthyOpponent: Sees Chrollo as a target worthy of his full strength.

Killua's mother, who dresses in an elaborate Victorian dress and a sci-fi visor over her eyes. She also talks like a lady from that era. She feels upset that Killua has decided against following in his father's footsteps and becoming a professional assassin. Seemingly as compensation, she trains Kalluto to be subservient. This seems to have failed too, as Kalluto has joined the Spiders.
-----
* ActionMom: A lot more actiony than you'd think, looking at those bandages.
* AlmightyMom: Subverted, she couldn't argue her husband's decision regarding Killua.
* BandagedFace: She is always seen with bandages on her entire face, suggesting something nasty happened to her in the past.
* ButterFace: She has a fit and nice body for a lady with several grown kids but BandagedFace '''and''' NightmareFace qualifies as this.
* DarkActionGirl: She is the matriarch of a family of assassins.
* HappilyMarried: She has a good relationship with Silva.
* ImpracticallyFancyOutfit: It would appear that a Victorian style dress would be difficult for an assassin so she can run quite quickly wearing it. A flashback shows she's been wearing a kimono similar to Kalluto's present one, which is not more practical.
* MyBelovedSmother: She knows what's best for her precious little Killua and will make sure he follows the family rules, even if she has to send three butlers to follow and/or apprehend him to do so.
* NightmareFace: Downplayed, in that Kikyo is not, by herself, all that terrifying, but the context within the show makes her appearance unnerving. After seeing her for the first time, one gets the impression that Killua scarred his mother so badly that she had to bandage most of her face and needs her sci-fi visor just to get around. Flashbacks reveal she always wore that visor, leaving the impression that this trope might just be the reason why she wears something so out of place in the setting. What's more, is that she looked even creepier in the first anime.
* OneWayVisor: She has an electronic visor covering her eyes with a mouth microphone. It's shown in a flashback she already had it years ago, so it wasn't caused by Killua.
* ParentalFavoritism: Killua is definitely her favorite child. Although, she isn't backward when it comes to doting on any of her other children (even Alluka)... with her own very distinct twists on that concept. Her standards are very likely not to be yours.
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler: After watching Killua's DeclarationOfProtection for Alluka/Nanika, Kikyo decides to remove the restrictions movement she previously put on Killua.]]
* PimpedOutDress: A large and frilly purple one in Victorian style that goes with her hat. She can easily turn into KickingAssInAllHerFinery, whenever she feels so inclined.
* ProperLady: She certainly tries her best to be this. If she got [[StiffUpperLip any stiffer]], you'd expect starch to come out of her clothes at every step. She's also not very quick to embrace change.
* RagsToRiches: Originates from Meteor City, the archetypal poverty center of the series. Now, she is a member of the exceedingly wealthy Zoldyck family.
* SoProudOfYou: Says this a lot to Killua, such as when he [[spoiler: gambles her own life on the idea that Silva would sooner allow him to leave the family's mountain with Alluka/Nanika in tow than let her die from a wish he made to Nanika.]] It showed that he was growing up properly.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: It's assumed she has black hair and black eyes considering all of her children except Killua have black hair and eyes, with the exception of Kalluto who has purple and Alluka who has blue.
* SuperSpeed: Despite being in a giant dress, Kikyo has immense speed, and crossed the entire mountain in minutes.
* TearsFromAStone: In the 1999 anime, when Kikyo cries, it causes her whole visor to blotch out with TV snow static, symbolic of her state of grief. In the 2011 anime, she properly cries, suggesting she wears her visor over impaired/technologically enhanced eyesight.
* ToughLove: Very clingy she may be, but if you think this means nothing but being spoiled rotten with sunshine, rainbows, and puppies, you are ''very'' mistaken. What she's inflicted on Alluka is probably also a twisted form of this, in her eyes at least.
* WouldHurtAChild: Knocked out Canary in cold blood.
* {{Yandere}}: Dear Lord, you'd not want to try splitting her up from her hubby. And, heaven help you if you try taking her [[MamaBear babies from her]]... Especially the ones she's ''a bit'' disappointed in. She still loves them, way too much to let you think about getting away with it.

[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hxh_illumi.png]]

The oldest of Killua's brothers, Illumi is acquainted with Hisoka and is on a roughly equal level of power as him. Illumi shows no emotion at all, though he's subservient to nobody except his clients. His abilities, both nen and normal, revolve around needles. He can stick needles into himself to change his appearance, and he can also stick needles into other people to control their movements or, if need be, to deflate them.
-----
* AloofBigBrother: It certainly seems this way, but he actually pays a great deal of attention to Killua... more than Killua would like.
* ArcVillain: Serves as the main antagonist in the Chairman Election Arc due to his desire to first kill [[spoiler:and later control]] Alluka/Nanika putting him in direct conflict with Killua and several members of the Hunter's Association sent to stop him.
* BigBrotherBully: He's rough with his siblings, and likes to shove his pins into them so he can control them. For these and other reasons, he is seen as a bully by Killua and others. Of course, he doesn't see himself in that light.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Hisoka once playfully suggested murdering Killua to his face. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3ubg9M1R9w It went over about as well as you'd expect.]]
* BigBrotherMentor: He was the one who taught Killua to fight and he cares (in a twisted way) about his younger sibling. He can be considered a deconstruction of this, as the feeling isn't reciprocated and his brainwashing about fleeing danger at all costs prevented Killua to progress in his nen training.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Even by [[PunchClockVillain his family's standards]], Illumi's morality is something else. Zeno, Silva, and Kikyo have all displayed varying degrees of being able to show empathy to others outside of their family. Illumi sees everyone as his puppets who need to be controlled for their own good, including family. This isn't because he likes controlling people, because he says it is out of familial love for them.
* TheComicallySerious: You get the impression this is mainly why and how Hisoka manages to tolerate him for days at a time: you sometimes just need a dedicated straight-man to bounce mayhem off. That, and constantly ''trying'' to get those dead eyes to produce some reaction other than "pickled shark" could be seen as a hobby.
* CodeName: "Gittarackur" is what he calls his go-to disguise, such as the one he entered the Hunter Exam at the start of the series in.
* DissonantSerenity: Despite being a PerpetualFrowner or because of it, he comes off as an even more brutal sadistic prick than Hisoka, which says a lot.
* DragonWithAnAgenda: [[spoiler: Ends up joining the Spiders, per Hisoka's request after the latter declared open war with them. While Illumi has associated with them in the past, he makes it known during his introduction that his only interest is killing Hisoka.]]
* DudeLooksLikeALady: If not to the extent of his younger brother Kalluto, his thin face and silhouette, [[LongHairedPrettyBoy long black hair]] and big eyes make him androgynous-looking.
* TheDutifulSon: Followed his parents' footsteps and is a professional killer.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: His sickly skin tone and dark hair make him all the more unnerving.
* EmptyEyes: Great, big, blackly blank pools of damn creepy that manage a permanent ThousandYardStare.
* ExpositoryPronoun: Illumi uses the Japanese pronoun "Ore". [[spoiler: In the Dark Continent arc, he uncharacteristically uses "Boku" instead, which happens to be Hisoka's pronoun of choice, hinting that he might be Hisoka in a disguise to get closer to the Troupe.]]
* GenocideBackfire: Although Illumi did not participate in the Kurta Clan massacre, he joined the group that did it, Kurapika now seeks revenge against the Spiders, consequently including Illumi.
* ExtremeDoormat: He might accuse Killua of being a puppet, but he'd do better looking in a mirror for that accusation to stick.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Hisoka, during the exam. Even afterwards they're still shown hanging out together from time to time, though this friendship has its limits, [[spoiler: such as Hisoka asking if it's okay to kill Killua. The resulting bloodlust from Illumi was strong enough to be felt from miles away]]. The relation changes, in some strange way, after [[spoiler:Hisoka hired Illumi to kill him... and they're calling it an [[UnholyMatrimony engagement]].]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: He tells Killua that he doesn't need any friends since he is an assassin, yet has an admittedly a twisted give-and-take relationship with Hisoka, who he also met during the Hunter Exam.
* KnightTemplarBigBrother: Extremely overprotective of Killua. He threatens to kill Gon since he's in the way of allowing Killua to become a full-fledged assassin. He is also responsible for putting a needle in Killua's brain to make sure he would avoid fighting stronger enemies at all costs to keep him safe.
* LaughingMad: [[spoiler:A terrifying case when he witnesses the immense power Alluka/Nanika has firsthand. He then becomes thoroughly convinced that he ''must'' have that power all for himself at any cost, declaring it belongs to him.]]
* LoopholeAbuse: The Zoldyck's have a strict rule about not killing their own family which they must uphold. However, Alluka's bizarre existence and powers mean that the family considers them to be more of a dangerous creature under their care than one of the family, so Illumi sees no problem killing them. [[BigBrotherInstinct Killua is not amused.]]
* ManipulativeBastard: This trope literally defines Illumi, if his nen type, ability and treatment of his family, Killua especially, didn’t make it clear enough.
* MasterOfDisguise: Using his pins and needles to change his appearance just for that extra squick value.
* NightmareFace: When he gets angry, he goes from "creepy" to truly "nightmare-inducing". It's coupled with a killing intent so strong it's broadcast for miles.
* NoodleIncident: It's never elaborated on how Illumi met Hisoka and Chrollo and how he started his partnership or business relationship with them. At the end of the Hunter Exam, Illumi says that he hasn't known Hisoka for long, but long enough to understand his taste, and the two of them definitely had history long before the exam began. At Yorknew, he mentions that he has known Hisoka longer than Chrollo.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: The entire plot of [[spoiler:killing Alluka to prevent the wish blowback from wiping out his family or potentially many others]] initially sounds somewhat reasonable [[spoiler:as he didn't know that there isn't any after a healing wish]]. However, this is entirely for selfish reasons rather than any sense of altruism, and not long thereafter quickly found to be antagonistic towards a better solution.
* PeoplePuppets: One of the many uses of Illumi's needles is that he can control the minds and bodies of those pierced by them. They become zombies and after he stops controlling them, [[AndIMustScream they are handicapped for life]] when they don't outright die.
* TheQuietOne: Creepily Quiet. When he does bother communicating, it's usually in a monotone others need to strain to follow.
* SoftSpokenSadist: Rarely raises his voice or shows emotion no matter what horror he is engaged in at the time.
* SuperSpeed: Illumi easily managed to kill several other professional Hunters in seconds while chasing Killua and Alluka.
* TheStoic: So much, that showing emotions makes him scarier than not showing them.
* ToughLove: Deconstructed. He ''thinks'' he's doing that with Killua, justifying himself by saying he doesn't want his dear little brother to fight someone guaranteed to kill him. He planted a little needle driven into his brother's head, and other mind-games to keep him further under control, persuaded to act [[ForYourOwnGood for Killua's own good]]. No one agrees with him, least of all Killua.
* UnholyMatrimony: [[spoiler:Implied with Hisoka, after he contracted Illumi to kill him. If all his talk about engagement rings and prenuptial agreements is true, then this very well may be the case.]]
* WouldHurtAChild: And not just any child, but his little sister Alluka.
* {{Yandere}}: Portrayed very much as a case of crazy love when Killua is concerned, albeit in a big-brother sense. He sincerely believes all of his measures where Killua is concerned are completely justified. Killua disagrees.
* YouAreNumberSix: [[spoiler:In the Succession War arc, he becomes the new #11 of the Phantom Troupe, replacing Uvogin. Illumi has been commissioned by Hisoka to join the Troupe to play a hide-and-tag game where the two try to kill each other.]]

The second-oldest of Killua's brothers. He is an otaku and perhaps a hikikomori, keeping hundreds of anime figurines in his room. He has demonstrated no fighting skill of his own, but he has a genius intellect and creates death traps and doomsday devices with it. He normally stays within the family's estate, torturing his younger brothers as part of their assassin training. Milluki is directly responsible for Killua's total AcquiredPoisonImmunity and near total resistance to electric shock. He is proud of what he builds and will call his family members at random times to tell them about his latest inventions. He visits Yorknew City each year when the auctions arrive to try to buy Greed Island but has never been able to gather enough money to do it.
-----
* AwesomeButImpractical: His inventions generally land here when he's left entirely to his own devices, including one that... blows up mosquitoes? However, when he gets it right, he hits sheer awesomeness. See Killua's yo-yos.
* BadassBookworm: Not in the conventional sense, no. But, he can get the job done when you need him to kick a computer program or a whole network into submission quickly. He also has the standard family training, so good luck if you try to take him down with poisons or just hitting him with shocks. He can tank it.
* BigBeautifulMan: His sharp eyes and pouty lips give the impression that he'd be a bonafied {{Bishonen}} if he lost weight.
* BrilliantButLazy: When he has to pull the stops out, he can work on many jobs in quick succession which mostly involve people winding up dead, for ''a lot'' of pocket money.
* ButtMonkey: His plans rarely go quite or fully according to plan. And, he's not as gifted in the conventional senses as his other siblings are. [[HiddenDepths However, don't make the mistake of thinking that means he isn't dangerous.]]
* ClintSquint: Does this practically on a full-time basis. Which helps hide the fact that, like Illumi, he also has the [[EmptyEyes world's creepiest, blank eyes of black]].
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Despite his GeekPhysiques and his preference for gadgeteering and computing, he's still a professional killer like the rest of his family. The billions he accumulated to (attempt to) get Greed Island come from assassination contracts he fullfilled offscreen.
* FatBastard: He's fat. And, he's quite the {{Jerkass}}. In his defence, he's usually just going along with the flow. And the reason he's fat is because he's [[BrilliantButLazy a shut-in]] [[BasementDweller glued to his computer who can't be bothered to exercise.]] When he tries to get his hands on a copy of Greed Island online, he spends so much more time holed away indoors cramming miles of junk food into his system that he goes from being fat to '''morbidly obese.''' But when he finally decides to ''actually leave the house'', he burns off the excess calories... and at least manages to return to being his old overweight self.
* GadgeteerGenius: Some of his more creative inventions are, admittedly, rather bad, but he is the one who made Killua's yo-yos. And, he can pull his weight on capers when he does go to work to produce more standardised things as needed.
* GeekPhysiques: The fat variant, although it doesn"t stop him from killing people.
* {{Hikikomori}}: After several years, he finally left the house for a while in the ''Yorkshin'' arc.
* InformedAbility: It's mentioned that he endured the Zoldyck training but he hasn't shown any of these abilities yet.
** Milluki is also confirmed to be a Manipulator nen user and the only character in the series besides Kurapika to have the potential to become a Specialist, but there are still no hints about his nen proficiency or his Hatsu.
* KarmaHoudini: He used Alluka's powers countless times [[MundaneUtility to get figurines and powerful computers]], then he framed butlers and strangers to pay the price.
* {{Otaku}}: Very much -- the computers, his figurines and his workbench are his life.
* PlayfulHacker: What he is underneath it all, is someone who has fun messing around with computer programs instead of people. But, for his family's business, he'll be TheCracker as and when needed, too.
* TheResenter: Towards Killua. Milluki despises him for being their parents' favorite child and seemingly being a KarmaHoudini despite constantly rebelling against their parents.
* TortureTechnician: His specialty when he's not hiding behind a keyboard is torture. He's the one mainly responsible for Killua being accustomed to electric shocks. It was under Mother's orders, obviously.

The second youngest of Killua's siblings. She hosts another entity known as Nanika, who can grant wishes but demands extreme requests in compensation that result in gruesome casualties if unfulfilled. The Zoldycks sealed her away out of fear for her powers, and Killua, the one family member who truly loves her, had all memory of her suppressed by Illumi's needle before removing it.
-----
* BadPowersGoodPeople: Alluka is a very sweet and affectionate kid, and Nanika seems to operate on a BlueAndOrangeMorality and is at the very least not intentionally malicious. The problem is that the wish-granting ability she possesses is ''very'' dangerous by design; it preys on people's greed and selfishness and if used carelessly it can easily lead to the extremely gruesome deaths of an untold number of innocents.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe:
** Killua is the only family member who treats Alluka as family and a human being instead of a tool, a dangerous entity, or something to be controlled. Because of this, she's loving and affectionate to a fault around him, and it's almost stated outright that this is the reason some of Alluka's rules, like "Nobody may make two consecutive wishes", don't apply to him.
** Nanika has stated that she loves Killua as well, and for the same reasons; she is visibly hurt when he tries to send her away. As such, Killua's privileges regarding his wishes are not only dependent on Alluka's affections, but also of Nanika's well-being and permission.
* CreepyChild: Alluka can be a little too cheerful at times for full comfort, especially once you know what she can do... but, this isn't really the problem. When Nanika wakes up to play, things get creepy at light speed. She means well, but the mechanics of her ability...]]
* EarlyBirdCameo: She can be seen long before her proper introduction.
** She appears in silhoutte along with the other Zoldycks in the 2011 anime.
** Also appears in a family photo facing away from the camera in Kalluto's intern monologue, before we see the picture again when Illumi mentions the "fifth brother" he's going to eliminate.
* FourIsDeath: All Zoldycks are assassins, but is it coincidence that the fourth child [[spoiler: happens to have an ability (triggered upon refusal of four requests) to cause mass-murder?]] Even her parents are ''terrified'' of her.
* HorrifyingTheHorror: When your own family of {{Professional Killer}}s dreaded by the entire world sees you as an abomination, you can pride yourself on this.
* KillerRabbit: In appearance, Alluka is only a girl dressed as a shrine maiden who asks you silly favors. Then she starts to ask you to give some of your body parts, and if you refuse [[FourIsDeath four times]], your head becomes no more than a fruit in a juicer... as well as all the people you love.
* MagicAIsMagicA: Alluka's powers follow specific and reliable rules such as "one person must fulfill three requests before a wish can be granted", and "if one person refuses four requests then they die" and "the difficulty of the requests is in proportion to the wish or number of wishes made, and if a person dies attempting them, the difficulty is reset for the next wish". Illumi refuses to negotiate with Killua during the Election Arc because Killua knows more rules than Illumi does, and so could leverage this hidden knowledge to his own advantage.
* MakeAWish: Alluka can grant wishes, and there doesn't appear to be a limit to the scale or nature of the wish, although there are some limitations as to how the wish manifests. When a butler wished to become a millionaire, Alluka redirected a plane carrying that much money over her family's mountain and forced it to drop its load.
* {{Protectorate}}:
** Killua is fiercely protective of Alluka and protecting her from all threats, including his own family, becomes his drive from the Chairman arc onward.
** After Gon is healed and Alluka gives him hell, Killua extends his protectorate to Nanika as well, seeing that despite her powers, she's a child who needs love as much as Alluka.
* SquishyWizard: She has extremely powerful abilities that [[spoiler:can cause mass murder if somebody refuses to fulfill four requests of hers, and can bring somebody back from the brink of death if someone wishes for it. However, since she never learned to use nen, she has the basic defense of a girl her age.]]
* TormentByAnnoyance: Part of the mechanics of Nanika's powers invokes this; she focuses on one individual and asks requests from them, and as Milluki notes, once she's chosen someone to pester, she won't switch to another person until they either succeed or fail the requesit number of requests. She also has to know that person's name beforehand or she won't ask any requests from them. However, she can only give requests when the target is in a position to hear them, so if they physically distance themselves from Alluka/Nanika, they can indefinitely delay her requests with seemingly no time limit in place. Tsubone exploits this by fulfilling two requests and then leaving before they're asked a new one to postpone the activation of the wish later.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehaviour: Is it normal for a child to '''seriously''' ask for your liver or to tear out your fingernails?
* TheUnfavorite:
** Apart from Killua, the Zoldycks don't even recognize Alluka as a member of the family, and Killua is the only one who loves her as a person. The family might have some cause for this negative attitude. If Nanika has "[[SplitPersonalityTakeover taken over]]" who Alluka would have been and the whole family (except for Killua) has been viewing the one we know as an imposter, it certainly would explain Kikyo's inability to fully accept "the imposter" as her child, including the lengths she's gone to to isolate it without killing it (if that's even possible).
** Killua himself isn't fond of Nanika for much of the "twins'" existence, but doesn't treat her as The Worst Thing Ever.

!!Alluka Zoldyck
* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: Alluka is referred to as a girl by Killua and dresses like a shrine maiden. However, the rest of the clan refers to Alluka as a boy or something non-gendered like "[[ItIsDehumanizing it]]" or "the entity" and, in a flashback, it's shown she wore more androgynous clothes as a little kid. Alluka also uses the female "I" pronoun of "[[UsefulNotes/JapanesePronouns atashi]]". Because of this, it's implied that Alluka is a trans girl.
* BigBrotherWorship: Killua means the world to her. Even if he were the only person in the world to love her, she would still be happy and content.
* BlackSheep: In the eyes of her family she's a vicious creature that kills people according to FairFolk style rules or petty reasons, instead of people she is contracted to kill for money, like them. The exception is Killua who considers her as the WhiteSheep, a sweet girl who wouldn't even ''harm'' anyone, let anyone kill, if others didn't exploit her power for selfish reasons.
* BornWinner: On the face of it, it looks like she developed her Hatsu both unconsciously and extremely early with little issue. Or not -- extra material added in volume 33 of the manga confirms that Nanika is not a Hatsu and is, in fact, a fully individual Dark Continent being. Alluka presumably has not unlocked her own nen ''at all'', possibly because of Nanika.
* CheerfulChild: The Alluka that Killua knows is always smiling and playful. Everybody else just finds her creepy.
* SpoiledSweet: If Killua was spoiled then Alluka was absolutely spoiled, living in a large and colorful room with lots of toys and apparently no mandatory assassin training. She is also accustomed to her requests being granted promptly (because refusal has gruesome side-effects) but she is by far the kindest of the Zoldyck children and the requests she makes are controlled by EquivalentExchange. As long as no one asks for something crazy like "a million dollars" then she only asks that others play with her.
* WhatTheHellHero: Alluka gives Killua hell near the end of the Election arc when he tells Nanika to leave so that Alluka could have a normal life. She tells Killua that if he's going to love and protect her, then he has to do the same to Nanika as well and she won't forgive him if he doesn't. This [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone gets through to Killua]] who apologizes to Nanika and promises to protect her too.

!!Nanika
* AmbiguousGender: She is generally acknowledged as a female due to sharing a body and a voice with Alluka (who herself has a case of AmbiguousGenderIdentity, though it is heavily implied that she is a trans girl), but the reveal that Nanika is a creature from the Dark Continent makes things a bit more complicated, since the true form of Nanika's species seems to be a gaesous life form shaped like a cloud of dark mist with no apparent gender as humans know it.
* AmbiguousInnocence: Nanika’s requests and granted wishes never come out of malice, but out of equivalent exchange: she’s not shocked when she kills somebody or never bothers the reasons and consequences behind the desire to become rich. Her requited love for Killua is the only reason why he’s not affected by the conditions, and she’s only affected in a good or a bad way by what he gives or refuses to her.
* CatchPhrase: Whenever someone makes a wish, she will say "'Kay" to acknowledge it.
* CuddleBug: After Killua makes a wish to heal Tsubone's hand, and she does so, she immediately requests a hug from Killua.
* EquivalentExchange: In a twisted way. Any wish she grants does ''not'' require the one who made the wish to give something of equal value in return. Instead, it is the person who she pesters next who will be asked to pay for it. Failure to grant four requests results in the both pestered person and at least one of their loved ones dying. Depending on how great the at-gunpoint wish is, more people die -- who dies also depends on how much time the pestered "client" has spent with those people, with the longest being higher on the dead list. However, the simplest way to circumvent the price ''and'' reset the whole thing? Wish for something both unselfish and positive for somebody or somebodies else. Or, just be Killua.
* HealingMagicIsTheHardest: Nanika can grant most wishes without a care for location but wishes to heal someone require that she physically touch them, and after the healing, she becomes exhausted and needs a long sleep.
* HumanoidAbomination: Nanika's wish induced [[RealityWarper reality warping]] powers and the mysterious conditions behind her fusion with Alluka make her this. She overlaps with AdorableAbomination when you see [[CuddleBug her relationship]] with [[BigBrotherInstinct Killua]].
* JackassGenie: Though not, perhaps, by choice. And, it may actually be a [[SubvertedTrope subversion]]. As it turns out, Alluka/Nanika's twisted form of EquivalentExchange only applies when granting cruel or greedy wishes. If they're asked to heal another on the asker's behalf or to do some other genuinely unselfish deed, Nanika just gets tired.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Nanika's wishes operate on some inscrutable "morality" system of sorts, where she continually pesters people for more and more severe requests. If they deny her, she will continue to pester other people until it reaches a peak at four, wherein she kills the fourth person via some unknown means. It's eventually revealed that this is due to the quality of the wish -- asking for material goods, cruel acts, or selfish needs causes Nanika's pestering cycle, while asking her for a selfless or kind wish just tuckers her out. Though this still makes her dangerous, it does make her significantly less dangerous than initially assumed.
* OutsideContextProblem: Nanika does not resemble anything that came before her. No one is quite sure how she got into Alluka's body, and Killua spaculates that her wish-granting ability might be unlimited. It's not even clear if her powers are Nen based. [[spoiler:It's confirmed that she's from the Dark Continent, which is basically one giant OutsideContextProblem for the entirety of humanity.]]
* PunnyName: Nanika translates to "something", and the Website/{{Crunchyroll}} sub literally translates her name as "Something".
* RealityWarper: What that wish-granting ability of Nanika's basically amounts to. She doesn't seem to have any limits beyond the whole pester thing.
* SharingABody: Nanika is a distinct entity that inhabits Alluka's body and wakes when three "requests" are fulfilled or Killua calls on it. It loves Killua just as Alluka does, and the two are aware of each other's presence.
* SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay: If "Alluka" ever addresses Killua by his name then this means it is actually Nanika speaking, because Alluka only ever addresses him as "brother".
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Averted. While Nanika's wishes ''can'' have nasty consequences, it's really not from deliberate malice, and she doesn't give any harmful requests if her previous wish wasn't greedy in nature.
* TheSymbiote: The Dark Continent arc implies Nanika is a creature called "Ai" -- one of them was shown saying Nanika's signature phrase. Nanika has since been confirmed as a DC being, but her being an "Ai" is still unconfirmed (but heavily implied). It is possible that a Zoldyck ancestor by the name of Zzigg who visited the Dark Continent with Netero [[SymbioticPossession may have brought a little something extra back]] with him.
* TerseTalker: After taking her true form, her sentences are pretty short.

Killua's youngest brother (yes that's a boy, he just likes to look like a girl), who is first seen following Kikyo around. He is later revealed to have joined the Phantom Troupe to search for his "missing" brother (most likely Killua, now that Alluka's been revealed to have been locked up in a glorified safe the whole time) and assists in the attack on the Chimera Ants infesting Meteor City. Though outwardly appearing calm and quiet, rarely speaking at length to others, he hides a bloodthirsty side and a deep commitment to his goal. Even while recognizing his massive inferiority to other members of the Phantom Troupe, he renews his determination to find his brother, no matter how long and how hard he has to work. He is a Nen user who fights with paper.
-----
* AxCrazy: Mentions, looking completely innocent, that he needs to get over his bad habit... of playing with his prey. In the background of the panel is a Chimera Ant splattered all over the ground.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: The youngest Zoldyck child and member of the Phantom Troupe. The latter like to tease him about his lack of experience.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: Behind that calm and quiet exterior is a deadly assassin who can turn your body into minced meat by using confetti.
* CreepyChild: Well, yes. He ''is'' a young Zoldyck, so it's not like there was much other option. The pretty, porcelain doll thing he has going on is the icing on the cake.
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: His ability exploits this. His first onslaught is to first just fling a harmless flurry of confetti at the opponent. This has no chance of hurting the opponent, but if any of the confetti pieces does manage to embed into them, he'll follow it up with a powerful pin-point strike where that piece is placed, guaranteed to tear through the opponent. And if ''another'' piece of confetti gets stuck on the opponent after that, he'll do it again... and again and again until the opponent is totally torn to shreds.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Seriously — if you didn't know, you wouldn't guess. Dude rocks a frock like nobody else.
* TheFriendsWhoNeverHang: Family-variant, though he spends most of his by his mother's side, he hasn't been seen interacting with the other members of his family. His most telling relationships are with his mother and Killua. In fact, the "Zoldyck Family Dynamic Chart" does not show any kind of relation to them.
* GenocideBackfire: Although Kalluto did not participate in the Kurta Clan massacre, he joined the group that did it, Kurapika now seeks revenge against the Spiders, consequently including Kalluto.
* ImpracticallyFancyOutfit: Kimono. It would appear so but he can run quite quickly wearing it.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Fights with paper of all things, and can slice through steel cable with a paper fan and dismember a Chimera Ant with flying streams of confetti.
* InformedFlaw: The "Zoldyck Family Dynamic Chart" states that Kalluto has a jealousy of Alluka, this fact hasn't been brought up in the story or explained. Especially since the two haven't been seen directly interacting with each other.
* KillerRabbit: Looks like a young girl wearing a kimono. Is a member of a family of {{Professional Killer}}s and the Phantom Troupe. He can also cut steel rope with paper.
* MamasBoy: Heavily, heavily implied. He may be away from her for the moment, but only in the "went back to where she came from in the first place" sense, so it's hardly a case of breaking away.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Him versus the other members of the Phantom Troupe. His normally calm expression turns to horror when he realizes that he can barely see Feitan's speed... while the other members comment that Feitan is rusty and not moving well. There are shades of this when it comes to the relationship between Killua and him as well. [[spoiler: If the poor sod thought getting with the Phantom Troupe would help with that, he was most likely very sadly mistaken.]]
* PaperMaster: Killer confetti? Why, yes: it's possible.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: If you think killing with paper is the most impressive trick he's got, you're going to be surprised about what else he can do, and how fast he can do it.
* SilkHidingSteel: His Japanese girl looks and quiet personality let this impression, especially when he moves his fan to manipulate his deadly confetti.
* SuperSpeed: He crossed an entire mountain running after his mother.
* TheStoic: He rarely displays any overt signs of emotion.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehaviour: He's a Zoldyck, so he's trained in assassin techniques, in addition to being fully versed in the use of Nen.

A servant who took care of Alluka when she was younger.
----
* InnocentBlueEyes: Her eyes are blue, and she's well-mannered.
* NiceGirl: From what little we see of her, she was quite fond of Alluka.
* PosthumousCharacter: She doesn't make it past a flashback.
* SecretKeeper: Inverted: her telling Kikyo about Alluka came before Killua asked her to keep Alluka's problem a secret.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: She has less than 2 minutes of screentime, but revealing Nanika to Kikyo heavily affects the entire Election Arc.
* YourHeadASplode: Courtesy of Nanika. For what we’ve seen, it was as painful to her as it was to watch.

The giant guard dog of the Zoldyck Estate.
----
* BigFriendlyDog: To the Zoldyck and their staff. To anyone else, Mike is a walking murder machine.
* CanisMajor: Looking like a cross between a wolf, a wolfhound and a werewolf. On growth hormones and a very expensive, and exclusive, protein diet.
* FluffyTheTerrible: A cute, typical doggy name... slapped on that thing.
* TheHeartless: Figuratively. [[TheBeastmaster Gon]] took one look at Mike, realized his eyes were crystal clear and that Mike had every intention going through Gon and his friends like juicy treats if he was ordered to, and realized he couldn't make friends with him. Zebro even thinks he's more machine than beast.
* NightmareFace: '''DEAR GOD.''' Try looking at his page image without getting the creeps. Gon himself was mortified by what he saw.
* OnlyTheWorthyMayPass: There are two entrances to the Zoldyck property: The test door, which weighs several tons, or the maintenance door, which only requires a key to open. Problem is, Mike is ordered to kill and eat anyone he doesn't recognize that comes through the maintenance door.
* StrippedToTheBone: His EstablishingCharacterMoment. Two thugs get [[SchmuckBait suckered into taking the wrong entrance to the Zoldyck manor]]... we hear [[ScreamDiscretionShot their agonizing screams...]] and then Mike pops open the door and reveals their barren, battered skeletons, having eaten everything meaty off them right down to their ''brains.''
