* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Most of the teenage cast is pretty average for the most part. They just happen to have crazy personalties.
* WackyHomeroom: Class 1-5 just happens to contain a lot of the main characters.

The main protagonist of the series, Takuhiko is a perverted otaku who spends most of his time watching anime, reading manga, playing video games, and doing any other activity that would consider him lazy. But when his mother confiscates his computer, he is forced to interact with people, much to his chagrin. But he makes the best of his situation and promises to build the best Harem he possibly can.

----
* AgentScully: PlayedForLaughs, as he dismisses Misery's claims of being magical as Chuninbyou despite being confronted by a DemonicallyPossessed Misery at least twice.
* BiggerIsBetterInBed: Claimed to have a bigger "manhood" than Keiichi among other things.
* BookDumb: He barely met the required test score in order to get into Sakuragi High.
* CannotTalkToWomen: Has a hard time talking to women at first, but eventually gets used to it by the time he meets Neko. Case and point, when he compliments a girl...on her breasts due to having nothing better not come up with.
* CasanovaWannabe
* TheCuckooLanderWasRight: He was correct in that Sakutaro was faking his cuteness.
* TheDitherer: Wants to focus one the Harem at large rather than "the one" just yet
* EntitledToHaveYou: Feels that he deserves women due to spending several years isolated, Hikkikomori albeit by choice.
* EroticDream: Before he knew his tutor was Aya, he dreamed that she was a stereotypical Yuri girl accompanied by her more masculine-looking "best friend". The dream ends before the good parts can happen though.
%% * GreenEyedMonster: Has adorably large green eyes and a jealousy of more attractive men.
%%* ICallHimMrHappy I Call Her Chinko
%%* HaremSeeker: No kidding!
* HormoneAddledTeenager
%% * Hikkikomori: Is currently recovering from it.
%% Wut?
* HypocriticalHumor: Saying he's a Hypocrite is an understatement. In one case, he calls one of Neko's Otome Games about vampire wizards "stupid", but says he likes a game that's basically the same except with the genders reversed.
* Jerkass: Has plenty of moments like this, especially in early chapters.
* LazyBum: Is trying to improve ,but he'd rather play video games and watch anime rather than study.
* LongingForFictionland
* LoonyFan: Is this to Mai to the point of being a borderline-StalkerWithACrush. And keep in mind that she's retired now!
* LoserProtagonist: Except unlike other Harem examples, women don't fall for him as quickly as he expects it and in some cases it works against him.
* MistakenAge: Has been mistaken for a middle schooler if not even younger on a few occasions. However this is one of many Berserk Button.
* Moe: Not only does he survive off of it, Keiichi argues that he provides many male examples such as his short height and large eyes. Unfortunately he wants to seen as sexy and not cute.
* TheNapoleon: He's both insecure, and not just his HeightAngst, and is provoked rather easily.
* NoBisexuals: He never even heard of the concept of bisexuality until he met Keiichi.
* Nosebleed: Claims to have had frequent ones ever since he was a child.
* NoSocialSkills
* Otaku: Specially a Moe Otaku.
* PersonalityBloodTypes: According to Misery, he's Type-B. Which is fitting since people with this type are characterized as wild, passionate, and laid-back ,but also selfish, irresponsible, and lazy.
* PerverseSexualLust: Takuhiko prefers 2D women to the real thing with some exceptions.
* RoseHairedSweetie. Subverted as while he tries to be the romantic type he is a Jerkass with NoSocialSkills.
* SiblingsWanted: Always wanted a little sister...however he got a brother instead. Although she probably would've turned out the same way anyway.
* SignificantBirthDate: Also according to Misery, his is on Valentine's Day. It's even more fitting since in Japan, women are the ones to give chocolate instead of men.
* SociallyAwkwardHero
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: Denies that he ever thought of infiltrating an all-girl's school DisguisedInDrag. What's strange is that he's pretty shameless about his other turn-ons.
* TinySchoolboy: Takuhiko is rather short compared to even some of his female classmates, which he is rather insecure about.
* ThisLoserIsYou: Parodies otaku that are the target audience of romance and Moe.
* YuriFanboy: Definitely proves himself to be this instead of just thinking GirlOnGirlIsHot with a DreamSequence involving two lesbians styled like something in the YuriGenre.

First introduced at the end of the second chapter, Neko seems like the perfect girlfriend for Takuhiko. She's attractive, an otaku, and oozes with Moe. Seems like the perfect head of his Harem. After they actually meet, she reveals herself to be a crazy Weaboo that thinks they're reliving Reincarnation a past life. Now Takuhiko is very unsure.

----
* ADogNamedDog A Cat Named Neko: Although "-ko" is a common suffix in Japanese girl names.
* AnimeAccentAbsence: Averted as Takuhiko describes her as having an American accent when speaking Japanese.
* CatGirl: She claims to be one in both her past and current life due to her hairstyle being reminiscent of cat ears.
* Cloudcuckoolander: Neko is rather ditzy and suffers from Chuninbyou.]
* GenkiGirl
* GiverOfLameNames: Assuming her story of reincarnation is fictional, she's this for adding an "-a" at the Latin name for cat ,"Felis", and just calling the prince the Latin name for rabbit.
* GratuitousJapanese: Neko's dialogue is written in the style of when translators feel the need to leave certain words untranslated despite having normal English overall. Her normal Japanese is apparently fine according to Takuhiko, it's just we don't hear that thanks to TranslationConvention.
* MagicalGirl: One of her many claims.
* MrImagination: Or Chuninbyou in this case.
* NaiveEverygirl
* NiceGirl: Chuninbyou aside, she's pretty nice and even chill at times.
* OccidentalOtaku
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Neko's real name is currently unknown.
* OtakuSurrogate: Downplayed as she likes stuff made for both girls and men. Although either way it has to have some kind of cuteness factor even in the latter's case.
* PinkIsFeminine: Wears pink-striped knee socks. And she's also a magical princess apparently.
* ReincarnationRomance: She quickly realizes that Takuhiko looks like Prince Lepus and thinks it's meant to be.
* SignificantGreenEyedRedhead: Neko's hair is orange as opposed to blonde like in most Japanese media ,but she stands out as a foreigner regardless even where pink is a natural color.
* ThinksLikeARomanceNovel: Phrases things like she's a character in a Romance Manga.
* WholePlotReference: Neko's entire story about her past life and being a MagicalGirl is almost a word for word rip-off of Manga/SailorMoon. Even Takuhiko lampshades this.
* WrongGenreSavvy: As an Otaku, she's often referencing Japanese anime stories and tropes. She's usually guessing the wrong tropes are in play.

A shy and clumsy girl in Takuhiko's class who becomes his tutor. And it seems effective because she is apparently so cute that Takuhiko pays more attention to her than the actual teacher. She seems like another perfectly good candidate for his Harem.

----
* ApologizesALot: Even when it's not her fault by any means.
* TheBGrade: Would've gotten into a prestigious school if she had only gotten that one point on her entrance exams.
* CatholicSchoolGirlsRule: Takuhiko thought she was the YuriGenre version of this trope. However Aya more or less averts this stereotype as she seems disinterested in any romantic relationships.
* TheChikan: Never brought up directly ,but she does mention riding the all-women's subway car.
* CramSchool: She attends one in-between her after school club and tutoring Takuhiko.
* CuteClumsyGirl
* EducationMama: She indicates that her mother is one and even says that Takuhiko's has "low standards". Hence why Takuhiko wonders why the both of them are even friends.
* FantasyForbiddingMother: The fact that her mother has a dislike for otaku indicates this.
* FishOutOfWater: Feels very out of place at The Manga Maid Cafe especially since she has to do radically different things than in most "normal places".
* GradeSkipper: She's at least a year younger than her fellow first year students, due to skipping sixth grade.
* HesNotMyBoyfriend: Assures the Meido Waitress that she and Takuhiko are not a couple. She doesn't hear it, but at least the guy next to them is relieved.
* Moe: Enough to give Takuhiko a Nosebleed apparently.
* NervousWreck
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: Although Takuhiko wishes they were stockings
* ShyBlueHairedGirl
* SpeechImpededLoveInterest: Often stutters.
* SpockSpeak: Does not use contractions, likely to emulate keigo.
* TeenGenius
* TokenMiniMoe: Averted, since she's only a year younger than the other freshmen.
* TrueBlueFemininity
* VerbalTic: Often says "ummm" in her sentences, usually at the beginning.

A recently "graduated" idol who transfers to Sakuragi High School after losing interest in fame and her fans.
----
* AllMenArePerverts: Or at least her Fandumb fanbase is.
* CelebrityIsOverrated: Enjoyed the spotlight for a while, until she realized how empty fame was.
* ContractualPurity: One of many reasons why she left.
-->Mai: Because apparently I can't even be my own woman. I have to be the Otaku's Moe woman.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Is incredibly wealthy and has purple hair.
* FanDumb: In-universe Mai thinks most of her fanbase is this. As she feels like most of them are perverts and pedophiles that control her life when it's otherwise none of their business.
* HatesTheJobLovesTheLimelight: At least, until she got sick of it enough to quit.
* IdolSinger: As MY☆UTA.
* LuckyCharmsTitle: Lampshaded by Takuhiko says the star in MY☆UTA's name is silent.
* Ojou
* StageNames: MY☆UTA
* StepfordSmiler: Even Takuhiko had a hard time watching her final concert knowing she didn't like her fanbase.
* ShoutOut: Her last name is Kirigoe....let's hope things go well for her!
* TransferStudentUniforms: Has one that looks like out of the Victorian Era.
* Tsundere: Or at least that's what Takuhiko thinks. Although WordOfGod described her as a Himedere.

The mysterious leader of the Occult Club who may or may not have supernatural powers.
----
* BlackEyesOfEvil: As if his red eyes weren't terrifying enough, he gains these when possessed.
* CigaretteOfAnxiety: Gives this justification for smoking on the Koizumis' front porch.
* DeadpanSnarker
* DemonicPossession: Gets possessed by the spirit of an Ainu for most of Chapter 6 and his dialogue implies that he's more or less dead in that timeframe.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette
* TheEeyore: Has a rather cynical and pessimistic point of view.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Doesn't care about school, but apparently doesn't want to see one of his classmates fail.
* Expy: WordOfGod admitted that he was based on Anne Gwish from ComicBook/JohnnyTheHomicidalManiac.
* Goth: Of the Gloomy variety.
** Goth Boys Know Magic: It's currently unclear, but he at least thinks this enough to lead an entire club about it.
* HiddenEyes: His left eye is covered by his hair.
* JapaneseSchoolClub: Is the President of the Occult Club, much to Takuhiko's confusion.
* LivingLieDetector
* MessyHair: His hair seems to be inspired by Film/EdwardScissorhands.
* MetalHead: Seems to be a fan of Music/MarilynManson in particular.
* MissingMom: We don't know anything about his biological mother right now ,but at some point his father remarried.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Misery is not a legitimate Japanese name. Not even his stepmother knows it.
* ParentalNeglect: Out of nowhere on August 23, 2016; Takuhiko's Waifu posted a strange picture on her Website/DeviantART of a black birthday cake with red pentagrams. The accompanying text seems to be a note written by a mother who is apologizing for forgetting her child's birthday. It was later revealed in the following chapter that the woman who wrote the note is Misery's stepmother who is so forgetful that she doesn't even know his real name.
* ParentWithNewParamour: While Shion despite shows no signs of a WickedStepmother ,Misery is sort of justified since her forgetfulness causes her to be pretty neglectful.
* TheStoic: Doesn't even get a line until the end of Chapter 4.
* StringyHairedGhostGirl: Male example. He ends up slouching and with even worse hair while possessed by Turushno.
* Telepathy
* VoiceOfTheLegion: Gains this when Turushno takes over his body.
* YoureNotMyMother: He dislikes Shion so much that he calls her by her name instead of "mom". In fact, when he firsts mentions her, Takuhiko thinks he's being a stereotypical goth with his real mom.

A popular, attractive boy at school who Takuhiko declared as his romantic rival.
----
* TheAce
* BigManOnCampus
* BerserkButton: Downplayed. While he doesn't seem to go into rage mode, he is visibly upset by Takuhiko's problematic StayInTheKitchen beliefs about women.
* BromanticFoil: He's basically the opposite of Takuhiko in every way.
* FirstNameBasis: Strangely, Takuhiko refers to him like this. Although he did find out in Chapter 5 and started to go on a LastNameBasis from now on due to their rivalry.
* NiceGuy: Although he does have his limits with Takuhiko.
* PrincelyYoungMan: Not only is he the BigManOnCampus, but he implies that his family is wealthy enough to go on luxury vacations like the Bahamas.
* SchoolIdol
* SitcomArchNemesis: A lot of things Takuhiko does is mainly to spite him despite how it'll pretty much have little to no impact on him.
* TheSocialExpert: Although he is unsuccessful in teaching Takuhiko even the bare basics.
* SuperGullible: Easily fell for Takuhiko's Cobra Hydra trick.

A pretty successful manga artist and Takuhiko and Sakutaro's mother
----
* AuthorAppeal: It seems like male TokenMiniMoe and Yaoi show up quite a bit in her work.
* BishonenJumpSyndrome: It can be argued that her work suffers from this.
* DotingParent: Used to be this until she realized that giving her older son everything she wanted ended up being a lazy Hikkikomori shut-in.
* Doujinshi: And apparently pretty dirty doujinshi at that.
* YaoiFangirl: She apparently has plenty of gay couples in her work.
* YouAreGrounded: Taking away Takuhiko's computer privileges actually kickstarts the plot.

The five and a half year old brother of Takuhiko who he has a small sibling rivalry with.
----
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: So much so that if he actually was a girl, he would be a subversion of the LittleSisterHeroine.
* TheAntichrist: Although that's only what Takuhiko thinks, in reality he is a normal kid.
* BigBrotherWorship: Inverted very hard since he doesn't seem to have that much respect for Takuhiko adding more fire to the fuel.
* BromanticFoil: Not only is he kind of a polar opposite to Takuhiko as he exploits his cuteness ,but they are also literally brothers.
* CovertPervert: Even with how he uses Mai's breasts as a pillow, most of the girls excuse his actions under the guise of ChildrenAreInnocent.
* ChildProdigy: He is barely six and can already read surprisingly well and keep in mind this probably includes kanji. Although he keeps that a secret from others to keep their guard down.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: Despite being a CovertPervert and DirtyKid he admits to being too young to understand certain sexual situations such as why kindergarten uniforms are popular among girls.
* DeliberatelyCuteChild: Does so to get attention to girls.
* DirtyKid: While he was the first to get boob-related action, he's actually not romantically interested in Takuhiko's friends.
* FakeCutie: While not full-on Antichrist like Takuhiko suggests, he's a pretty ManipulativeBastard.
* GenreSavvy: Sakutaro has carefully studied manga featuring male Token Mini Moes and exploited their tropes.
* SitcomArchNemesis: Even with TheReveal, he isn't that threatening since he wants attention from girls ,but not in a romantic sense.
* TokenMiniMoe: Exploited to the maximum!
