!Caelin

!!Lord Hausen of Caelin
The Marquess of Caelin, father of Lady Madelyn, and grandfather of Lyn. Initially highly displeased by Madelyn eloping with Hassar, he came to regret it upon hearing of their happy life in Sacae and the existence of his granddaughter, Lyndis, and wished to see his granddaughter. His brother Lundgren attempted to kill both him and Lyn, and nearly succeeded in killing him by poison, with Lyn saving him at the last minute.
----
* CoolOldGuy: Though he was apparently a bit of a hard-ass when younger, if the story about Madelyn's elopement is to be believed.
* DeathByDespair: [[spoiler:Narrowly subverted; Lyn finds him just in time to pull him out of the deadly depression that he was in after his years of loneliness and failing health.]]
* DefrostingIceKing: He hardened his heart against his daughter Madelyn's wishes, and [[IHaveNoSon renounced their relationship when she eloped]]. When he hears of her family in Sacae, years later, he's determined to make amends and [[spoiler:finally does when he meets Lyn, swallowing all his pride and admitting to his prior fault; hearing that Madelyn's life in Sacae was happy overjoys him and gives him peace]].
* DistressedDude: To be fair, the poor guy is in really crappy health due to his extremely old age [[spoiler:and because Lundgren had been secretly poisoning him. He's still not fully recovered a year later, when [[ButtMonkey he gets stabbed by Ephidel]] and barely survives]].
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: [[spoiler:By Ephidel. Leila ensures he receives treatment, however, and he's alive when Lyn leaves Caelin. It's unclear whether the wound affected his eventual death (which is mentioned in the epilogue).]]
* IHaveNoSon: He disowned his daughter after she eloped with a Sacaen nomad. He un-disowned her after learning he was a grandfather.
* MadeOfIron: Not to the extent some of the warriors in the series achieve, but surviving [[spoiler:being poisoned over an extended period of time]] and then, a year later during recovery, surviving [[spoiler:getting ''stabbed'']] -- especially at such an advanced age -- must count for ''something.''
* MustMakeAmends: His objective in Lyn's tale is to make peace with his daughter's family.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: He outlives his daughter after she is killed in a bandit attack.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Though, as the game makes clear, he hadn't been so reasonable in the past.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to his younger brother Lundgren's red. Evident in his cool-headed manner which he mostly retains throughout his scenes. [[spoiler:Look at how he tries to negotiate with Lord Darin; given the circumstances, he had every right to be even angrier than he seemed.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: Offscreen. He disowned his daughter when she eloped with a Sacean nomad, but sought to make amends once he learned he was a grandfather.

!!Lundgren
The younger brother of Hausen, who strongly desired to rule Caelin himself. Not at all pleased to hear that Lyn existed and thus there was a potential obstacle to his ascension to the Caelin throne, he sought to kill both her and Hausen to prevent anything stopping his ambitions.

->'''Class:''' General
----
* AmbitionIsEvil: He attempts to murder his brother and grandniece so he can become ruler of Caelin.
* ArcVillain: For the entirety of Lyn's tale.
* CainAndAbel: Only narrowly averted, with Hausen being saved at the last second; a slight variation in that here it's the younger sibling who's the traitorous one.
* ClimaxBoss: And an impressive one at that. He's stronger and tougher than anyone you're likely to have at this point bar CrutchCharacter Wallace, is wielding a rank A weapon ''and'' a ranged weapon, and he's on a gate, meaning free healing and a boost to defense. Good luck...
* DiscOneFinalBoss: While it's pretty obvious the story isn't over yet, Lundgren's defeat nonetheless signifies the end of Lyn's story and the beginning of the ''true'' plot.
* EvilOldFolks: He's most likely at least sixty, and he's the toughest bastard you'll be facing for a good 10 more chapters.
* EvilPrince: He's willing to resort to assassination and murder to claim the throne for himself.
* EvilUncle: Wants to kill both his brother and great niece to secure his rule over Caelin.
* FantasticRacism: Even on top of wanting to rule on principle, he makes it ''very'' clear that the other half of why he's opposing Lyn is because she's Sacaean; if Lyn confronts him in combat, he outright calls her a "Sacaean mongrel" before attacking.
* MadeOfIron: For someone whose primary character trait is "utter douchebag," you've got to respect the amount of punishment he can both take and dish out, considering he's almost certainly over sixty. This may or may not be GameplayAndStorySegregation to avoid him becoming an AnticlimaxBoss or even TheUnfought, as there's really no indication he can fight prior to the chapter where you actually fight him.
* MakeItLookLikeAnAccident: Lundgren seems to be using a slow-acting poison on his brother with the intent of making it look like an illness, likely because it being obvious Hausen was poisoned would hurt his own legitimacy, especially when he would be the obvious prime suspect.
%%* ManipulativeBastard: Poor Hausen and [[spoiler:Eagler]].
* MightyGlacier: 35 HP, 14 Defense, and +2 Defense from the gate he's sitting on. Good luck breaking through that.
* RedOniBlueOni: The emotional, expressive red to his brother's calm, controlled blue. For one, he uses ''way'' more exclamation points.
* SmugSnake: Utterly convinced he's some kind of mastermind.
* TinTyrant: He's got the "tin" part already, and ''wants'' to be the "tyrant" part.
* YouMonster: Regarded as such; he's respected only by those loyal to him (many of whom were duped or implicitly blackmailed), Lyn has no mercy for him, and nobody mourns him when he finally dies.

!!General Eagler
The Knight Commander of Caelin. Widely considered to be a just man by his people and his fellow knights, he was nonetheless tasked by Lundgren with stopping Lyn from progressing any further despite being fully aware of the extent of Lundgren's depravity.

->'''Class:''' Paladin
----
* AlasPoorVillain: The first of many in this game. He wasn't even evil to begin with!
* AntiVillain: If Sain and Kent are to be believed.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Apparently. Kent and Sain both remember him as being a much more decent man than is apparent in the battle, and their reaction to having to off him is regret.
* IHaveYourWife: Heavily implied that the reason he fights you is because Lundgren would go for his family if he didn't.
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: Subverted: it's strongly hinted that he was forced to do Lundgren's dirty work.
* WakeUpCallBoss: The first promoted boss in the game, at a point where the player can only have one promoted character.

!!Yogi
A knight in service to House Caelin, Yogi is sent by Lundgren to stop Lyn, Kent, and Sain, whom he now claims to be an impostor and traitors respectively, from entering the territory. Lundgren provides Yogi with a siege engine called a ballista, which he intends to use to end Lyn once and for all.

->'''Class:''' Knight
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: It's not known if he follows Lundgren's orders because [[TheQuisling he wants to]] or simply because [[MyMasterRightOrWrong Lundgren's the one in charge at the moment]], or even if he knows of the reason Hausen is incapacitated.
* CripplingOverspecialization: He fights with an Axereaver, a lance that's weak against swords, when the woman he is sent to kill fights with a sword that's effective against armor knights. Oops.[[note]]A first-time player who isn't aware of how these unique weapons work and doesn't examine Yogi would admittedly be in for a nasty surprise, and [[InstructiveLevelDesign this is naturally the point]]; gameplay-wise, he's there to teach the player to examine the boss's weapons and plan the best use of a combination of their own special weapons and any special rules the enemy may be using.[[/note]]
* MightyGlacier: As per the norm for knights, he's got good defense but miserable speed. Expect Lyn to double him if she's gotten any experience at all.
%%* SmugSnake
* SuicidalOverconfidence:
--> ''"What are you curs waiting for? She's just a child! Call up for reinforcements, and rush 'em!"''
