The main protagonist of the story who cheats in exams and others in order to gain the upper hand. He has the ability to take over another person's body for five seconds. After being tricked and manipulated into using his ability by Nao, he is forcibly transferred to Hoshinoumi Academy and paid to join the student council.
----
* AllYourPowersCombined: [[spoiler:Thanks to his initial ability, ''[[PowerParasite plunder]]'', he becomes this in many timelines.]]
** By episode 5 [[spoiler: (original timeline where the series starts), he got: ''thoughtography, {{telekinesis}}'', and ''[[InASingleBound flight]]''.]]
** In episode 9 [[spoiler:(old timeline where all of ability wielders caught by scientist), he got: ''[[KiManipulation pulverization]], {{telepathy}}'', and ''[[{{Intangibility}} permeation]]''.]]
** By episode 12 [[spoiler: (new timeline where Ayumi's has been saved), he got the ability as in episode 5, added with: ''[[TimeMaster time leap]]'' (though later it was disabled after one of his eyes damaged), ''collapse, {{invisibility|WithDrawbacks}}, [[SuperSpeed teleport]], [[PlayingWithFire pyrokinesis]]'', and ''channeling''. He's planning to plunders ''all of ability wielders around the world'' to stop the psychic phenomenon.]]
* AmnesiacLover: [[spoiler:In the finale, Yuu keeps his promise to return to Nao, but he has lost all his memories about her. Nao is sad about this, but she still keeps her promise to become his girlfriend and decides to create new happy memories for Yuu.]]
* AsideGlance: Does this often. It's even {{lampshaded}} by Nao at one point.
* AxCrazy: He becomes this as he falls into an intense sadness [[spoiler:after his sister dies. He enjoys only eating and happily beating the crap out of local gang members with a sadistic laughter.]] Yuu does get better with the help of Nao. But yet again he falls into this as he vows to [[spoiler:Plunder every ability in the world it ends up making him very violent and is prone to acting out in a rage. By the end of the series he's lost his memories but at least he's cured.]]
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Nao. At the beginning, they hate each other because Nao is the one who stops Yuu from abusing his power for his own gain. After working together at the student council, they slowly become friends of sorts. Yuu develops feelings for Nao after [[spoiler:she helps him go back on his feet after his sister dies in one timeline]] and while she acknowledges they always argue, she's fine with the idea of being his girlfriend.
* BigBrotherInstinct: He might be annoyed by Ayumi sometimes, but he also deeply cares for her, as seen in episode 5 & 6 when he treated a sick Ayumi. [[spoiler:And much later in episode 6, after a [[TheReveal revealing]] scene involving Ayumi collapsing part of her school building, Yuu immediately searched for Ayumi in the middle of rubble, ignoring one of the teachers and Nao's warning about impending debris collapse.]]
* BlatantLies: He rejects all of his suitors at his prestigious high school, saying that he's too busy studying. Not only does he not actually study, but he only has eyes for Yumi, and the real reason he's saying no is that he won't settle for anyone less.
* BreakTheHaughty: In the very first episode, his cheating gets exposed, he gets beaten up by Nao, he gets forcibly transferred to another school and the madonna of his school dumps him.
* BrilliantButLazy: Considering that he was able to pull a RescueRomance that involved a near miss with a truck which involved pinpoint maneuvers with error meaning his intended rescue or him being severely injured or killed, he has to have some sort of smarts about him, he just chooses abusing his power over studying. Even while relying on his power to ace the exams, he's smart enough to realize that it isn't easy to identify who's an honors student (since students from several different schools take the exams), so he scouts out cram schools to find out who has the best chance of acing the test.
* BrokenAce: He's popular, charming, handsome, and a honor student. In reality, he's a selfish and manipulative {{Jerkass}} and a complete cheater.
* BystanderSyndrome: He just stands and watches as some bullies beat the crap out of Nao until it's over.
* CatchPhrase: He often mentally snarks "another incomplete ability!", or "another half-assed ability" in the English dub, after learning about an ability's drawbacks.
* CheatersNeverProsper: Yu uses his ability to transfer his soul to another person to look at their answers on the test. This catches up with him after Nao catches him in the act repeatedly.
* ChickMagnet: Lots of girls wanted to date him, but he turned them all down, only to later get dumped by Yumi later due to new circumstances requiring him to attend a school faraway from her.
* CooldownHug: On the receiving end courtesy of [[spoiler: his brother Shunsuke]] in Episode 11, which proved to be necessary lest he [[spoiler: collapse the facility.]]
* CurbStompBattle:
** He dishes out a few of these in episode 7 after picking fights with various people.
** He does it again in episode 13 during his mission to seek out every ability user around the world, and is attacked by some hostile people. Unfortunately none of their attacks even hit him [[spoiler:thanks to his newfound powers as he strips people of them.]]
* CynicismCatalyst: [[spoiler:Ayumi's death]] serves as a catalyst for turning Yuu's life upside down. He only gets better thanks to Nao.
* DeadpanSnarker: As the OnlySaneMan of his friends, expect him to be quite sarcastic at almost everything they do or say.
-->'''Joujirou:''' Oh, today I have a marvelous result. A cutlet sandwitch.\
'''Yuu:''' You call that ''a success''? With so many wounds all over you?
* TheDreaded: He becomes this in episode 13, by all ability users ''around the world''. [[spoiler:Not only does he have many powers, he also is the only person with the ability to steal said powers]].
* DrunkWithPower: Zigzagged and discussed.
** Nao first approaches him to warn him about using his abilities for good instead of for selfish gains, lest he attract some unwanted attention from a certain organization that wants to use him as a lab rat. She later shows the aftermath of what happened to her brother who was in an insane asylum after having been experimented on. He reluctantly helps her student council to find other ability users to protect them, or at least get them to stop using their powers.
** He does start attempting to experiment with this in episode 7 against random thugs he picks fights with while suffering a HeroicBSOD and some SanitySlippage. Fortunately he's saved before really going off the deep end [[spoiler:by Nao, who was watching him the entire time. And in episode 10, it's further revealed that fortunately he was using his ability on ordinary people. Had he realized that he could steal other ability user's powers, he might have very well decided to abuse it and caught the attention of the scientists were it not for Nao.]]
** By Episode 13, the [[spoiler: massive number of powers he had accumulated so far]] almost led to the worst possible outcome, with him contemplating [[spoiler: ''world domination''.]]
* EmbarrassingNickname: [[spoiler:"The One-Eyed Grim Reaper," is this to him when he first hears it]].
* EvilCostumeSwitch: Twice. In episode 7, he's wearing dark red hoodie jacket with maroon shirt as [[spoiler:he [[SanitySlippage slips some sanity]] after Ayumi's death]]. In episode 13, he's wearing black robe hoodie jacket with dark red shirt after [[spoiler:his memories starts fading away and he's DrunkWithPower.]]
* {{Expy}}: He's a ''deliberate'' but PlayedWith reference to Lelouch vi Britannia from ''Anime/CodeGeass''. They both have a power that light up their eyes to [[ManipulativeBastard manipulate others]], share a similar pose in the openings. Plus, Yuu imitates Lelouch's PsychoticSmirk and EvilLaugh down to a T, and even says his "AllAccordingToPlan" CatchPhrase at one point. Both have younger sisters whom they are very protective of, too. [[spoiler:They both also sink too low that they almost do drugs before their LoveInterests intervene.]] However, ''unlike Lelouch'', Yuu manages to subvert the WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity and JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope tropes before he gets too far with his power.
* EyeColourChange: His brown eyes turn yellowish-gold when he uses his ability.
* EyeScream: [[spoiler: He gets his right eye slashed by an enemy power-wielder during his attempt to save a kidnapped Tomori in Episode 11. This also prevents him from using his time leap - perhaps permanently.]]
* GlowingEyes: When he starts using his ability, his eyes glowing light green.
* AGodAmI: Yuu discusses this topic twice, once in episode 7, and again in episode 13. However, he doesn't do much beyond thinking about it, [[spoiler:the first time due to Nao intervening before he start really JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope. And in the second instance, her notes gives him a vague reminder of ThePromise he made to her to return to Japan after stealing every ability user's powers and preventing their exploitation.]]
* GrandTheftMe: How he cheats in exams by copying the answers of the best students around to gain the upper hand in class. He also uses this to make others do what he wants to do to others without physically hurting his own hands. However, this only works for 5 seconds.
* HeroicBSOD: He suffers to this in episode 7 due to [[spoiler:Ayumi's death, though he gets better at the end of the episode thanks to Nao.]]
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: He starts wandering into JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope territory in episode 13, and starts going a little crazy due to his mission of finding ability users worldwide. [[spoiler:Fortunately he still has enough of a moral compass thanks to Nao's notes to fulfill his mission without killing anyone.]]
* {{Hikikomori}}: Temporarily becomes one for part of Episode 7 [[spoiler:due to his sister's death]].
* {{Irony}}: In episode 5, he comments about "Skyhigh Saito" being an embarrassing nickname, and in episode 7, he comments about giving a nickname to a thug he beats, as "One-Eyed Hoso-something". [[spoiler:In episode 13, he becomes (in)famous ''around the world'' as "One-Eyed Grim Reaper", a nickname he himself finds out to be embarrassing.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: At the start of the series, he exploits his powers for his own personal gains, even going so far as to cause an accident and endanger Yumi's life to stage a RescueRomance. Through CharacterDevelopment, he's still not the friendliest person to be around, but gradually becomes more considerate of others and self-sacrificing.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: [[spoiler: It turns out that his memories were erased by someone named Maedomari. It only resurfaced through Sala's singing voice in Episode 9.]]
* LaserGuidedKarma: [[spoiler:Yuu attempts to stab one of the thug's right eye with wooden skewer as part of his intimidation to him in episode 7. In the new timeline in episode 11, his exact right eye [[EyeScream got slashed]] by another ability wielder. What's more, in Episode 7, he mockingly suggests that the thug can get a nickname that's a reference to him having one eye. His exploits end up earning him the nickname "One-Eyed Grim Reaper."]]
* LoveConfession: [[spoiler: He (quite bluntly) confesses to Nao in Episode 12 after she suggests what Yuu can do to save all ability wielders]].
* ManipulativeBastard: Sure! Aside from his {{jerkass}}ery, he also loves to play with others by using his powers for his own selfishness.
* MindOverMatter: Picks up this ability later on. [[spoiler:It becomes incredibly useful for stopping bullets in episode 13.]]
* MirrorCharacter: With Nao. [[spoiler: Both they and their siblings have special abilities, and tragedy has struck both of them, albeit in different ways.]]
* {{Nephewism}}: His parents got divorced, afterwards his mother left him and Ayumi in the care of their uncle and went who knows where.
* NewTransferStudent: Forced into this due to Nao knowing about his ability.
* OhCrap:
** He panics and tries to leave when the StudentCouncilPresident of his prestigious high school accuses him of cheating and challenges him to prove his innocence (which he knows is impossible), and completely loses his composure when he's told that if he leaves, he'll be expelled.
** In Episode 6, when Kumagami finds an ability user inside the condo, the student council realizes that if none of the parents living in the condo can be ability users, it can only be a student who's at home sick. Yuu puts two and two together, then realizes Ayumi might have an ability.
** He also panics after [[spoiler:losing an eye, and thus the ability to go back in time]] in Episode 11, resulting in [[spoiler:his Collapse power destroying the building and killing Kumagami]].
* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: Nao enjoys giving Yuu grief for cheating on tests, especially when Yuu sympathizes for her circumstances, even months after the last time he cheated.
* OneManArmy: Forced on him in episode 11 when a group of people target him. Also utilized in episode 13 [[spoiler:when he goes around the world stripping every ability user's powers to prevent their exploitation. And in some instances he delivers a CurbStompBattle to the more hostile groups he encounters.]]
* OnlySaneMan: He often comes off this way when dealing with his fellow student council members' and sister's eccentricities.
* PoseOfSupplication: When he uses his power, his body slumps forward in a humiliating pose where he's bent over on his knees, with his butt protruding upward.
* PowerMisidentification: He believes that his power is to possess another person for five seconds. However, he later finds out that [[spoiler:his actual ability is stealing the powers of other superpowered individuals]]; the five-second possession is just a side effect.
* PowerParasite: [[spoiler:Episode 9 reveals Yuu's true ability is "Plunder", or ''stealing the abilities from others'', along with benefits and drawbacks of those abilities. In Episode 10, he uses it to take [[TimeMaster Shunsuke's ability]] to save Ayumi. And in episode 13, he uses this to steal every single ability user around the world to prevent their exploitation.]]
* PowerPerversionPotential: He used his powers to take over schoolgirls' bodies and peep at their underwear.
* RedBaron: [[spoiler: He becomes known as the One-Eyed Grim Reaper during his quest to plunder all the abilities in the world.]]
* ResignedToTheCall: He reluctantly joins Nao's group to find people with special abilities, or else his cheating would be exposed. [[spoiler:Later in episode 13, he only has a vague recollection of ThePromise he made with Nao to steal every ability user's powers to stop their exploitation.]]
* RippleEffectProofMemory: [[spoiler:He somehow manages to recover his memories from the original timeline. How he did this without his brother's time leap ability is never explained beyond the implication that [[AWizardDidIt Sala Shane's music has peculiar properties]].]]
* SamaritanRelationshipStarter: He at first just thinks of Nao as a bossy, annoying girl. After [[spoiler:he finds out she spent weeks watching over him after his sister died and she helps him get back on his feet]], he starts to see her in a new light and develops feelings for her.
* SanitySlippage: [[spoiler: His progress in his worldwide journey to strip off all ability wielders of their powers subjected him to greatly increasing levels of mental stress, to the point that he started causing unnecessary destruction, almost killed civilians, and even contemplated ''godhood''.]]
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: He repeatedly denies being interested in Nao when Ayumi starts teasing him about the possibility of Nao being his girlfriend.
* StoryBreakerPower: [[spoiler:Once the true nature of his possession is revealed, it becomes the most broken superpower in the series. Yuu doesn't simply possess bodies, he can steal the powers of other people and use them for himself. With this, he can take his older brother's time travel power to save Ayumi by stealing her collapse power before it kills her. At the end of the series, he steals the powers of every single ability user in the world so no teenager is abducted for experimentation again.]]
* SuperPowerMeltdown: [[spoiler: His stealing of Ayumi's collapse ability subjects him to be vulnerable to this, as proven in Episode 11. Twice.]]
* SuperpowerLottery: [[spoiler: He has had this all along. It turns out that his true ability is called 'plunder' and it works by [[PowerParasite stealing the powers of other people through his possession.]] Episode 10 reveals that he steals those powers ''permanently'', both for his victims and himself]].
* TookALevelInKindness: He starts out as a self-absorbed and manipulative {{Jerkass}}, but he slowly begins to show concern for others and becomes a more decent person. He temporarily backs away from this in episode 7, until Nao beats some sense into him. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Sala, who is comments that he was a nice person but is still able to tell that he wasn't always like that, despite having just met him.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Though he claims to absolutely hate it, Yuu likes Ayumi's rice omelettes, and will often eat it all while complaining about the odd sweet taste due to her pizza sauce. [[spoiler:Nao uses this to help bring him back after he runs away and starts risking his life by picking fights with strangers.]]
* VictoryGuidedAmnesia: Sure, he's able to [[spoiler:plunders every ability wielder around the earth, with the very high price: his memory about everyone around him.]]
* WalkingTheEarth: What he decides to do in the final episode. [[spoiler:He decides to traveling around the world to plunders ''every ability wielder on earth'' to stop the psychic wielder phenomenon before the titular comet appears again. He succeeds, and is able to return to his friends and family in Japan, but he loses all of his memories of them.]]
* WistfulAmnesia: The first time he hears the music of the band ZHIEND, he gets the strange feeling he has heard it before although he can't remember where. [[spoiler:Episode 9 reveals he used to hear their songs a lot in the original timeline before his brother traveled back in time.]]
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: [[spoiler: Narrowly averts this in the finale, despite his SanitySlippage]].
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: He doesn't like roller coasters and other high speed rides. Naturally, he has to spend the entire day at an amusement park at one point.

The StudentCouncilPresident of Hoshinoumi Academy. She has the ability to make herself disappear, but this is limited to one person of her choosing at a time.
----
* AdaptationDyeJob: Her hair color is stated to be grey, yet it sometimes look white or even platinum blonde.
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Yuu. Nao herself points out they have the worst compatibility, but they develop feelings for each other over time.
* BerserkButton: Don't diss ZHIEND in her presence. She also doesn't appreciate people calling it "rock" instead of "post-rock".
* BigEater: Eats a lot. Even the sandwiches which weren't eaten by Yuu did not escape her.
* BigSisterInstinct: Towards Ayumi, also towards Iori Sekiguchi in OVA/special episode.
* BoringButPractical: Her ability to hide her presence from a single person doesn't seem all that useful at first glance, but it's perfect for when she needs to observe/stalk a specific person. She ends up getting a lot of use out of her ability when it comes to tracking down individuals with superpowers [[spoiler:or following Yu around during his HeroicBSOD]].
* BrokenBird: She promised herself to never trust anyone again after finding out her "friends" were children of the scientists experimenting on her brother.
* BullyMagnet: She's bullied and beaten by her classmates on regular basis.
* CameraFiend: She carries her video camera with her at all times. When a man punches her, she's more concerned about the fact that her camera might have been damaged. This later turns out to be because she wants to keep the camera to film a music video for ZHIEND, her brother's favorite band.
* {{Catchphrase}}: "Such a turn off!"
* CruelToBeKind: Her general modus operandi. She's willing to go so far as to use blackmail to get people to stop using their powers, but does so to prevent them from being experimented on.
* DamselInDistress: [[spoiler:In Episode 11, she gets kidnapped by some thugs to lure Yuu out.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Episode 2 reveals that she had an older brother who had the ability to manipulate sound. Unfortunately he was experimented heavily on, and once he lost said ability, the scientists dumped him into a hospital where they'd have no more responsibility for him. As a result, Nao ran away before they could do the same thing to her.
* DeadpanSnarker: When she gets annoyed (often at Joujirou's obsession with Yusarin), her generally polite speech switches to Misa-levels of crude, masculine barbs.
* DefrostingIceQueen: At the start of the series, she greatly dislikes Yuu and how he abuses his powers. She slowly warms up to him over time as they become friends and support each other.
* DontYouDarePityMe: She snarks at Yuu's pity after he sees her brother's SanitySlippage, and later more bitterly when he expressed concern for her injuries only after [[BystanderSyndrome standing back and watching her get beaten up by a mob]].
* FanDisservice: In episode 11. [[spoiler:She's chained to a wall, hanged by her wrists, stripped down to her underwear and covered in bruises.]]
* {{Fangirl}}: Of the band ZHIEND.
* FreudianExcuse: Nao's cynicism is a product of being betrayed by those closest to her. Her mother convinced Nao and Kazuki to go to a school where they would be experimented on, apparently for personal gain. Nao's so-called friends at her middle school were children of the scientists experimenting on her brother, and pretended to be her friend in order to manipulate her.
* FriendlessBackground: She was forced into this, after finding out her "friends" in the new middle school she transferred to with her older brother were children of the scientists experimenting on him. As a result, she found it hard to make friends and had trust issues.
* FriendToAllChildren: She has a soft spot for younger kids, and doesn’t seem to treat them as roughly as she does to her peers. She even makes a genuine effort to get along with Ayumi.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: She snaps Yuu out of his HeroicBSOD in episode 7.
* GirlishPigtails: She ties some of her hair in twin tails.
* GoodIsNotNice: Nao's method of forcing Yuu to learn the errors of his ways for abusing his ability in the first episode is to beat him up and blackmail him into a HeelFaceTurn. This later gets [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]] when Joujirou reveals that this wasn't the first time Nao resorted to these types of methods and none of her classmates actually ''like'' her because of it.
* GuileHeroine: In order to achieve her goals, she often cunningly manipulates others.
* HeadphonesEqualIsolation: Usually wears her earphones to listen to ZHIEND's songs from her [=MP3=] player. She's even wearing them while being beaten by a lot of girls in episode 5.
* IcyBlueEyes: Cool, aloof and calculating, just as Nao herself.
%%* IndifferentBeauty: While very smart and good at manipulating others, she rarely uses her looks to her advantage and never values appearances over other traits.%% Possible misuse; she's isn't regarded as beautiful by anyone in-universe%%
* InsistentTerminology: She'll have you remember ZHIEND is not a rock band, but a ''post-rock'' band.
* InvisibilityWithDrawbacks: She can only be invisible to one person at a time.
* InvisibleJerkass: She apparently has a habit of beating up people who annoy her while they can't see her. However, everyone but her current victim can see what she's doing, and she became quite unpopular as a result.
* IWillWaitForYou: [[spoiler: Part of ThePromise with Yuu.]] She also partially lampshades this trope during said promise.
-->'''Nao:''' "I'll say it. 'I'll be waiting.'"
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's bossy, self-righteous, indifferent and rude, but she's still a good person deep down.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Saying that Misa is already dead and that it's unnatural for her to still be channeled through her sister's body is a harsh thing to say to Misa's friends, but it's true. Shou gets upset, but Kouta gets him to calm down, and he reluctantly accepts the point. Misa herself knows this, [[spoiler:which is why after saying goodbye to her parents and leaving a letter behind to her sister, she allows Yuu to plunder her ability, ending her existence]].
* KickChick: Whenever she needs to beat someone up, she often incorporates kicks into them. [[spoiler:She literally kicks the sense out of Yuu when he was going downhill after Ayumi's death.]]
* TheLeader: As Student Council President, she leads their missions to find ability users and talking them out of abusing their powers.
* MagicSkirt: Her modesty stays safe despite all the kicking.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Nao seems to brush off the somewhat brutal beatdown she gets from some girls in episode 5. When Yu approaches her, she seems more interested in the fact that they have another student to find.
* MoralityChain: For Yuu, especially later in the show. [[spoiler:In the finale, it's thanks to the notes she made that Yuu doesn't develop a god complex and try to conquer the world after stealing so many powers.]]
* MysticalWhiteHair: She has grey hair and she's one of the people with special abilities.
* NeatFreak: Implied. When she was over at Yuu’s apartment she caught his kitchen sink with a few dirty dishes, gets angry and insists on washing it when he shrugs off that there was no rush in cleaning only a few dishes.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: In the special episode, Yuu is alarmed at how the normally dispassionate Nao '''''rages''''' at Honoka for [[spoiler:distancing herself from her supposed best friend Iori just so ''[[ItsAllAboutMe she]]'' won't suffer any emotional turmoil from Iori's impending illness, insisting that Honoka be there to comfort her while she still has the opportunity.]]
* ParentalAbandonment: She doesn't mention having a father, as her mother raised her and her brother. And she doesn't seem to trust her mother either anymore after being sold out to a group of scientists who then experimented on her brother to the point that his mind broke.
* PragmaticHero: She usually either blackmails or intimidates gifted children into either stopping the use of their powers for self-gain or enrolling in Hoshinoumi Academy. However, she does it so they won't be captured and end up like her brother.
* SheCleansUpNicely: Yuu blushes the first time he sees her in casual girly clothes.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Downplayed. [[spoiler: She makes Yuu promise to her that as long as he keeps his promise to steal every power and successfully gets rid of all of it, only then she will date him.]]
* StealthInsult: After Ayumi suggests that she and Yuu would be a great couple, Nao says that someone with his intelligence and looks would be out of her league. It sounds like she's modestly saying that Yuu's too good for her, but in reality, she thinks of Yuu as an idiot.
* StudentCouncilPresident: Despite being a first year student in high school. Joujirou later tells Yu that the student council isn't elected; rather, they're picked largely on who will use their ability the most, explaining why Nao is president despite being largely disliked. And considering Nao doesn't want anyone else with powers to suffer the same fate as her brother, she works hard to find said people and either get them to stop using their powers to prevent them from being captured and experimented on, or transfer them to her school to better protect them.
* ThroughHisStomach: In Episode 7, she tries to make Yuu feel better by cooking for him [[spoiler:one of the Ayumi's sweet rice omelettes]]. She succeeds.
* TownGirls: She's the stoic and cunning Neither to Yusa's Femme and Misa's Butch.
* {{Tsundere}}: The Harsh type. She usually has an arrogant and aloof attitude, treating Yuu with indifference and disdain. There are moments in which she becomes nice to Yuu, showing she does care about him more than she lets on.
-->'''Yuu:''' Wait, didn't she hate me? Then why is she getting so friendly with me now?
* TsurimeEyes: She has sharp eyes.
* UnbrokenVigil:
** In episode 7, [[spoiler:it is revealed she uses her invisibility powers to watch over Yuu for weeks after Ayumi's death. She does not interfere until he threatens his own health with drugs and proceeds to finally bring him out of his HeroicBSOD.]]
** In episode 9, [[spoiler:she stays by Yuu's side at the hospital until he wakes up after he passes out during the ZHIEND concert.]]
** In episode 13, [[spoiler: she stays by Yuu's side at the hospital after he's completed his mission and his promise to her. Sadly, he lost all of his memories about her.]]
* WhenSheSmiles: The first time in anime Nao showing her truly cheerful expression is in episode 5, which makes Yuu that saw her smile blushing a bit.

A member of the student council. He can move at very fast speeds to make it appear as if he is teleporting, but he is not able to totally control where he stops, resulting in him being hospitalized and always having a new wound somewhere on his body. To counteract this, he has to wear protective gear under his school uniform.
----
* AwesomeButImpractical: His SuperSpeed makes him extremely fast, but it's also difficult to control.
* ClarkKentOutfit: Lampshaded by Yu, who comments that he's the type that looks slimmer with his clothes on when the two are bathing in episode 5.

But that said, he causes a lot of destruction every time he lands somewhere, and often has AmusingInjuries, such as bleeding profusely from his head in episode 2 due to crashing into some large glass windows in the cafeteria.
* LargeHam: He is usually composed most of the time but when he is triggered by the situation (particularly anything regarding Yusa), he tends to go over-the-top.
* MundaneUtility: He uses his ability to buy some sandwiches without having to wait in line in the cafeteria. Unfortunately, with this method, the sandwiches he grabs are random due to not having time to pick, and the resultant shock wave of his passage overturns every table in the vicinity. On top of that, Yuu mentions all the sandwiches are squashed as well.
* MusclesAreMeaningful: According to himself, the protector does not do enough to protect his body from the side effect of his power, so he must be strong enough to withstand, or at least minimalize the damage.
* NoGuyWantsAnAmazon: He adores the cutesy and girly Yusa and can't stand it when Yusa's vulgar and violent sister Misa possesses her body.
* ShipperOnDeck: Along with Yusarin to Yuu and Nao.

* SuperPoweredAlterEgo: She acts as this for her sister. Yusa's only power is channeling Misa's soul, but Misa is the one in control and she has access to her fire powers while possessing Yusa's body.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The Tomboy to the IdolSinger Yusa's Girly Girl. Yusa is a brash and short-tempered delinquent.

* WeakButSkilled: As demonstrated in the baseball game, Misa is actually a very good athlete but can only act by possessing the non-athletic Yusa. This means that while she has all the right skills and instincts, her body is too weak to keep up with them.

!Spoiler Characters
[[folder:'''Spoiler characters''']]
Referred in the series as "TheSyndicate", a group of ability users who were experiment subjects in the previous timeline. After Shunsuke used his power to change the past, they now work to protect other ability users.

!!Shunsuke Otosaka
!!!Voiced by: Creator/DaisukeOno (Japanese), Creator/RobbieDaymond (English)
[[quoteright:254:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/otosaka_shunsuke.png]]

First mentioned and briefly appeared via a dream in episode 1. Makes a formal appearance in episode 9. The eldest brother of the Otosaka siblings. Founding figure of "The Syndicate" (alongside Kumagami).
----
* BadassFamily: Forms one along with his younger siblings [[PowerParasite Yuu]] and [[PersonOfMassDestruction Ayumi]].
* BigBrotherInstinct: Just like Yuu is with Ayumi, he's also protective of the two and makes sure that they live a good life out of harm's way even if it will ruin him in the process.
* BigGood: He is behind Nao's attempts to help others with abilities.
* CoolBigBro: Flashbacks indicate that he was a doting older brother towards Yu and Ayumi. He kisses them both "goodbye" before their memories of him get erased.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Has grey hair and grey eyes, even before going blind.
* TheDreaded: To the scientists. He's considered as the most dangerous ability user by the scientists, thanks to his "time leap" ability. He was imprisoned in solitary confinement, complete with restrained limbs and closed eyes.
* HeroicBSOD: Got one after Kumagami's death, though not to the same extent as Yuu did after losing Ayumi.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Kumagami, who Shunsuke regards as his very best friend. Kumagami's death hits Shunsuke very hard.
* LongLostRelative: He hid himself from Yuu and Ayumi all this time, and his existence was also erased from their memories.
* MagicalEye: His time leap depends on both his eyes perceiving light. In the first timeline where his family was in captivity, his eyes were covered to keep his ability inactive. Also, Yuu finds that he can't use the ability after [[EyeScream one of his eyes is slashed.]]
* MentalTimeTravel: He has the "time leap" ability, which makes him able to send his consciousness back in time.
* TheOnlyOneITrust: Nao calls him the only person she truly trusts.
* PowerAtAPrice: Using his time leap powers takes a toll on his eyesight, eventually leaving him blind and unable to time travel again.
* RippleEffectProofMemory: His ability allows him to retain knowledge of past timelines, such as say, knowing who certain people are before they've ever met. Or what the lottery numbers are...
* StoryBreakerPower: The ability to go back in time and undo undesirable outcomes is so powerful that by the time the story starts, Shunsuke has lost the ability. After Yuu plunders the ability, he's only able to use it once before he loses an eye (as well as the ability) the next time he gets into a situation in which he needs the ability.
* SuperpowerDisability: Has the ability of MentalTimeTravel, but it degrades his eyesight with every use. By the time the series starts, he's been rendered completely blind and can no longer use his ability (since light needs to be entering his eyes in order for him to activate it).
* TragicBromance: With Kumagami. He is his dear best friend and he unfortunately gets kidnapped and tortured to then die protecting Nao. This hits Shunsuke very hard.
* WalkingSpoiler: His time leap ability spawned alternate timelines. The one that's shown in most of the episodes isn't actually the "original" timeline of the story.

First appeared in episode 6. A mysterious girl who was also looking for Ayumi and seemingly aware of her power besides the Hoshinoumi student council gang. One of the founding members of "The Syndicate".
----
* ChekhovsGunman: Her first appearance is in Episode 6. At that point, she is not introduced to the audience yet. After two episodes of not making any appearances, she returns in episode 9 as one of the important characters to the story.
* ForcedSleep: She has the ability to make others fall asleep.
* GlowingEyes: When she starts using her power, her eyes glow brightly.
* NiceGirl: Apparently she's the syndicate's most caring member to Yuu and Ayumi (besides Shunsuke, obviously). She (alongs with Maedomari) even defends Yuu from Shichino's anger regarding Yuu's curious question about Kumagami's fate.
* PowerAtAPrice: After using her "hypnotize" power which puts her target to sleep immediately, she also falls asleep afterwards.
* ProperTightsWithSkirt: She has dark tights under her skirt.

First appeared in episode 9. Friend of Medoki and Shichino. One of the founding members of "The Syndicate".
----
* AwesomeButImpractical: His ability makes him able to erase one memory from someone with pin-point accuracy. However, he must touch his target and takes a long time to find that memory, often requiring Medoki to incapacitate the target first.
* InconsistentSpelling: Official website named him as ''Maedomari'', but a lot of subs named him as ''Maedomori''.
* MemoryWipingCrew: He didn't reveal his ability on screen yet, but he asks Medoki if he must use his ability after she uses her power to put a guard of the scientist facility to sleep. And it's revealed that he is the one who removes Yuu and Ayumi's memories of being experiment subjects in the past and also the existence of their brother.
* NiceGuy: He's more calm and collected compared to Shichino.

First appeared in episode 9. Friend of Medoki and Maedomari. One of the founding members of "The Syndicate".
----
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: He has yellow hair and yellow eyes.
* HeroicSacrifice: In the original timeline, he saves Yuu by letting him take his ability before being shot by the guards. His fate is not yet revealed to the audience, though. He is however alive in the current timeline.
* {{Intangibility}}: His ability, "permeation", which makes him able to phase through walls, but as a drawback, it drains the stamina of the wielder.
* {{Jerkass}}: Attempts to blame Yuu for Kumagami's death. He ends up getting called out by the others on his SelfServingMemory however.
* NeverMyFault: He's the one who decides to rely on Yuu's ability to reset the past in case things go wrong, then puts all the blame on Yuu when Kumagami gets killed.
* SitcomArchNemesis: Has this trait towards Yuu, who he refers to as a siscon (sister complex) for spending all his time only with Ayumi.
* TheSmartGuy: To Shunsuke's BigGood.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: As stated by Medoki, his over-reliant opinion to Yuu's time leap ability without knowing the limit/weakness of it indirectly causes Kumagami's death.
* YouShouldHaveDiedInstead: Implied with Yuu compared to Kumagami. After finding Yuu alive in the rubble, Shichino says that he'll be angry if Yuu survives but Nao and/or Kumagami die. When Kumagami ends up dying as a result of the building collapse, Shichino says it wouldn't have happened if Yuu hadn't been "trying to save (his) own ass."
