-->''I'll show you the power of the Azure!''\

An SS-Class criminal known as the Grim Reaper and hunted by the Novus Orbis Librarium, the authoritarian government which runs the world. As a child, his orphanage was destroyed in a great fire caused by the vengeful spirit Yuuki Terumi, who possessed Ragna's younger brother Jin to cut off his right arm and disappeared alongside their younger sister Saya. Ragna survived thanks to the timely intervention of the vampire Rachel Alucard, [[EmergencyTransformation who gave him the opportunity to claim the Azure Grimoire, an artifact of immense power which became his new arm]]. After undergoing training under the legendary hero Jubei, Ragna set out to destroy the NOL in revenge. His arrival in the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi has led to a chain of events which threaten the balance of the universe.\

In battle, the Azure Grimoire gives Ragna unmatched control over the magical element called seithr. This powers his Soul Eater ability, allowing him to destroy his opponents' souls through physical contact and absorb it for himself. If need be, he can activate the Idea Engine embedded in his artificial arm to further boost his power, which can match that of the world-destroying Black Beast. Ragna also uses the Aramasa, a large and bulky sword which can also take the form of a scythe, as its name implies; like the Azure Grimoire, it too can absorb others' souls.\

Ragna's playstyle is that of a versatile rushdown character with a lot of tools to help with mixups and pressure at close range, and fewer options at mid and long-range. He is reliant on a good understanding of the fundamentals of spacing and movement - easy to pick up, difficult to master.\

His Distortion Skills are '''Carnage Scissors''', which sends a crushing wave of dark energy along the ground; and '''Devoured by Darkness''', a command grab that lays into his opponent with black tendrils. His Astral Heat, '''Black Onslaught''' has him using the fullest might of the Azure Grimoire and turns his blade into a scythe as he proceeds to repeatedly slash his opponent with it, using Soul Eater to empower it. He then transforms into a Grim Reaper-like figure shrouded in darkness and unleashes a final strike that completely erases the opponent from existence.
----
* NinetiesAntiHero: He fits the general criteria, with him wearing [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver red and black]], having a confrontational personality and [[HairTriggerTemper bad temper]], [[SoulEating soul-sucking power]] of an EldritchAbomination, and less-than-savory motives (before his CharacterDevelopment). However, he's also a ButtMonkey and his attitude makes him fall into many problems, and beneath his crass behavior lies a heart of gold.
* ArtificialLimbs: Ragna's right arm is his Azure Grimoire, and his left one is cybernetic after he sacrificed it to save Noel in the true ending of ''Continuum Shift''.
* BadassLongcoat: A gift from his mentor Jubei, previously owned by an unsung hero named "Bloodedge", [[spoiler: a future version of Ragna himself that was sent to the past to stabilize a time loop.]]
* BadPowersGoodPeople: His right arm can suck the soul out of anyone, and he could potentially destroy the entire world if he felt like it. But he's a good person underneath his rough exterior.
* {{BFS}}: His Aramasa can take the form of a large slab of metal barely resembling a sword.
* BloodKnight: Outright declares that he can beat up everyone in the cast during the game's reveal. [[OneManArmy He's not wrong.]] The story averts it, as all of his fights are forced onto him, even though he would prefer to talk things out since he has no interest in fighting anybody except the FinalBoss.
* BornUnlucky: Has 1 star in his luck stat. His entire life has been hell [[spoiler: and the only relief he ever gets is erasing himself from existence, which also gives everyone in his life a happy ending]]. In the story, Ragna ends fighting against people he doesn't want to fight and/or is forced to team up with weirdos or enemies which he would rather beat up.
* ButtMonkey: Like Yosuke, the majority of Ragna's character interactions are played for comedy at Ragna's misfortune.
** [[AvertedTrope Averted]] in Episode Mode, surprisingly. While there are still some jokes made at his expense, and [[{{Troll}} System]] won't leave him alone, he gets a refreshing amount of respect from the cast, likely due to a couple of factors:
*** The majority of the cast from [[VideoGame/Persona4Arena the]] [[VideoGame/UnderNightInBirth other]] [[WebAnimation/{{RWBY}} universes]] either don't know about [[CosmicPlaything his]] [[TheWorfEffect reputation]] or his [[{{Outlaw}} bounty]], so they just treat him like a powerful, down-to-earth grump with a big sword.
*** This game seems to take place in the latter half of ''VideoGame/BlazBlueCentralFiction'', where quite a bit of the [=BlazBlue=] cast no longer make fun of/want to kill him [[note]]due to him [[TookALevelInKindness having gotten a lot nicer]] as well as [[TookALevelInBadass much stronger without relying on the Grimoire]][[/note]], and the rest either aren't in this game[[note]]Carl, Valkenhayn, Relius, Kagura, Kokonoe[[/note]], don't interact with him in Episode Mode[[note]]Tsubaki, Platinum, Terumi, Nine[[/note]], or give him a smaller amount of conversation time than usual[[note]]Jin, Rachel, Hakumen, Nu, Hazama, Jubei[[/note]].
* CastingAShadow: The Azure Grimoire allows him to tap into the powers of the Black Beast, letting him wreath his limbs in darkness that can be used to sap opponents' life force to heal himself.
* CoolBigBro: Arguably the case, given that he's implied to at least be within his early 20s on average against the other main protagonists still being teenagers. A lot of Ragna's interactions with Ruby have him acting like a kind-of surrogate older brother. It's quite sweet, despite being a heavy contrast to Yang's doting attitude with her baby sister or Ragna's violently protective attitude over Noel. Ragna's also cooperative with the Investigation Team in ''Episode [=P4A=]'', and he and Hyde share a lot of traits in common with their interactions.
* CoolSword: His Aramasa, especially when you consider that it isn't a magical weapon like a Nox Nyctores or Legacy Weapon that most of the cast wields. The only thing that makes it different from a simple [[{{BFS}} giant sword]] is [[SwissArmyWeapon its ability to transform]] into a SinisterScythe. Ruby ''gushes'' over it to the point that he has to physically hold her at arm's length to get her to stop.
* CosmicPlaything: Cutting a ''very'' long explanation short, his luck is ''so terrible'' that [[spoiler: it took him erasing himself from the world for him to get anything close to a happy ending - because he's a ''literal'' cosmic plaything]]. During ''Episode [=BlazBlue=]'' he ends up at the mercy of System, who throws him into situations where he has to team up with people he can't stand and even bends the rules so his opponents can take shots at him despite the Two vs. Two set up of the fights.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Is a noted rebel responsible for multiple counts of mass destruction, and wields a power that could bring TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt, but is ultimately a man out to do the right thing.
* DeadlyLunge: His Hell's Fang special. His Carnage Scissors Distortion Skill also starts with a lunge.
* DeadpanSnarker: Despite his CharacterDevelopment, Ragna's snarky, sarcastic, sharp tongue hasn't changed one bit.
* DeathFromAbove: Has both Belial Edge AND Nightmare Edge in this game; they're both different kinds of diving attack with his sword.
* EnemyMine: Happens if he's paired up with Jin, Nu-13, Hazama or Azrael.
* ExperiencedProtagonist: By a longshot, when compared to the other main protagonists. By the point in time they were summoned into the Phantom Field in their respective canons, Hyde's only been an In-Birth for a few weeks, Ruby is still a relatively new student to Beacon, Yu's lead the Investigation Team for a year or so and while Heart has been part of at least three different major incidents, they each happened months away from the last one. Not only is Ragna a decade older than them at most, but he's also spent the better part of his life being the dreaded OneManArmy that made him the deadliest criminal in the ''[=BlazBlue=]'' universe, especially with this being Ragna after the events of ''Chronophantasma''.
* FaceOfAThug: Weiss judges Ragna by his wanted poster and his actual appearance, believing that he's a bad guy. Orie does the same, but she's judging more because of his wanted poster.
* {{Foil}}:
** Ragna and Ruby are both scythe wielders clad in red and black from fantasy-like settings, but Ragna is a rough and occasionally rude older brother while Ruby is a kindhearted younger sister.
** Ragna actually has a lot more in common with Yang: both are older siblings with a history of prioritizing others over, and sometimes at the cost of their own well-being. Additionally, both had childhood homes isolated in the woods, Ragna was blond in his youth (before trauma turned his hair white) much like Yang is, their abilities involve their eyes turning red (Ragna's Azure Grimoire has turned his right eye red, while Yang's eyes turn red when she gets angry) and they both [[spoiler:lose [[AnArmAndALeg their right arms]] as the result of an action of a man whose Japanese voice is provided by Creator/YuuichiNakamura]]. They also rarely open up about themselves and are far more than they appear to be on the surface, but whereas Yang is warm and friendly, deflecting attention away from any inner turmoil where she can, Ragna acts like a jerk on purpose to push people away.
* GrappleMove: His Devoured by Darkness Distortion Skill is a close-range grab with his Azure Grimoire hand turning into monstrous proportions; he then proceeds to directly suck the life out of his opponent before knocking them away.
* HypocriticalHumour: Ragna is stunned that Ruby and Yang are sisters[[note]]Though, in truth, they're actually ''half''-sisters[[/note]] as they look and act so differently, which is hilariously ironic given his own relationship with Jin and Noel.
* JackOfAllStats: Except for [[BornUnlucky luck]], the rest of his stats are completely even. This can be surprising since he's known for being a GlassCannon gameplay-wise in his home series. Considering that there is no dedicated Drive button in this game and his LifeDrain abilities are fixed to only certain moves to the point where they won't make a significant difference in the heat of battle, his health being at 17,000 HP balances this out.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Very rough around the edges, but on occasion can be surprisingly merciful and generous.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: "It's Not Over Yet!" has this effect, though it's more like "pick them up while they are down and sock them." Originally a separate move in his home series, it's been integrated into one of his smart combos.
* LifeDrain: Present once more, unsurprisingly, on all of Ragna's attacks that utilize the Azure Grimoire.
* LightningBruiser: He can move across the battlefield very quickly and hits hard. Unlike his home series, where he was a GlassCannon, being a JackOfAllStats here with the average amount of health allows him to qualify for this.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Rebellion''. He also has ''Under Heaven Destruction'' when teamed up with Jin, ''White Requiem'' when teamed up with Rachel, ''Black & White'' when teamed up with Hakumen and ''Nightmare Fiction'' when teamed up with Hazama, giving him the most amount of themes possible for a single character.
* MeaningfulName: Perhaps fittingly as the AntiAntiChrist, Ragna takes his name from the Ragnarok of Myth/NorseMythology, an event which sees the fall of the world's order and the death of the gods. His name may also be a reference to Ragnar Lodbruk, a Norse hero who fought an evil serpent and was executed by being thrown into a pit of snakes - given Hazama/Terumi uses a snake motif, this is likely to be intentional.
* MistakenForPedophile: Platinum's interactions with him has her personalities constantly refer to him as a pedophile, with Luna snarkily praising him as such and Sena being wary of his supposedly creepy leers. Naturally, Ragna is annoyed by being called that.
--> '''Platinum (Luna):''' You're pretty good!... for a pedo.\
'''Ragna:''' ''[exasperated]'' I SAID I'M NOT A PEDOPHILE, DAMNIT!
* MysticalWhiteHair: His white hair is a result of both taking the power of the Azure Grimoire and [[DarkAndTroubledPast the trauma he endured]] [[HarmfulToMinors as a child]].
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: "Ragna" being taken from the Norse term Ragnarok, referring to the end of the world. Also "The Bloodedge".
* OneHandedZweihander: The Blood Scythe's the size of a table, yet some of Ragna's animations show him wielding it one-handed.
* OneManArmy: Has a history of destroying entire branches of the NOL by himself and has defeated monstrosities like Take-Mikazuchi and Terumi. Lampshaded by Blake in his win pose with her where, after he mentions how weak their opponents were, Blake tells him that he could never understand what she just went through in that battle, showing that there's no way a Huntress' level of strength (and she's still a student) could be compared to his ridiculous powers.
* OutOfFocus: While he sticks around long enough in ''Episode Persona 4 Arena'' and ''Episode RWBY'' to team up with Yu and Ruby once each, he doesn't show up at all in ''Episode Under Night In-Birth'' until the very end, where he and the rest of the roster are transported to Kanzakai. This becomes more apparent in ''Episode Extra'', although there's a [[NeverTheSelvesShallMeet reason for that]].
* RedBaron: Depending on your language, he is referred to as the Shinigami[[note]]"God of Death"[[/note]] or the Grim Reaper. Either way, he's earned those monikers for good reason.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: His right eye is red, courtesy of the Azure Grimoire. During his Astral Heat, both of his eyes [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glow red]].
* RedIsHeroic: Wears mainly red and serves as the hero of the ''[=BlazBlue=]'' world.
* RedRightHand: His right arm is the Azure Grimoire, which he utilizes in a variety of soul-sucking attacks. In at least 2 of his attacks (standing C and Devoured by Darkness), the arm outright turns red and monstrous.
* ReverseGrip: He mainly wields his sword this way, as seen in both game-play and his character art.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: If he and [[{{Yandere}} Jin]] are both on the same team and on-screen when the match finishes, [[OhCrap Ragna will run away off the screen at top speed]]. [[DoubleTake Jin takes a minute to realize he's gone]] before chasing off to kill him.
* {{Shoryuken}}: Retains his Inferno Divider, a massive jumping uppercut attack with his sword, although here it is his Reversal Action instead of a special move.
* ShotoClone: His Dead Spike acts as a Hadoken (both the old short-range and new long-range variants are here), his Inferno Divider is a {{Shoryuken}} that can combo into other attacks, and his Gauntlet Hades, Hell's Fang and (to a lesser extent) Blood Scythe act as his {{Hurricane Kick}}s.
* SiblingTeam: If teamed up with Jin[[spoiler:/Hakumen]] or Noel.
* SignatureMove: Dead Spike has been one of Ragna's most memorable moves in his home series with the monstrous head of darkness even becoming the star in a small spin-off game. In this game, all three versions (his short-range version, his long-range version and his EX Version borrowed from his Unlimited form) of Dead Spike are at his disposal.
* SinisterScythe: His trademark Aramasa is his main weapon. Its scythe form is used for extended reach.
* SirSwearsALot: To say he's foul-mouthed is something of an understatement.
* SnarkToSnarkCombat: As always, he and Rachel engage in this constantly.
--> '''Rachel:''' You were sufficient, I suppose, for a mongrel.\
'''Ragna:''' Yeah, yeah... Good for you.
* SuperMode: When Ragna uses Resonance Blaze it takes the form of Blood Kain IDEA with Ragna activating the Azure Grimoire. This causes all of his life drain properties to increase on top of Resonance Blaze's natural regeneration and making both Carnage Scissors and Devoured by Darkness behave as though he is in his Unlimited form.
* SuperSenses: In ''Episode [=BlazBlue=]'', he picked up on Blake and Ruby's ambush by sensing their "bloodlust" and reacted before they could attack. Keep in mind, one's practically a ninja while the other has SuperSpeed. Not to mention that not even Gordeau, one of the most powerful warriors from the ''Under Night In-Birth'' world, was able to pick up on the attack until it happened.
* TakingTheBullet: In ''Episode RWBY'', [[spoiler: he takes a bad hit from System meant for Ruby. He doesn't die but it leaves him too badly injured to fight, which leaves Ruby and Weiss to deal with it.]]
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Naturally, he has this with a few people.
** When paired up with Jin, which [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DYgbAbhWsAEinOw.jpg isn't anything out of the ordinary]].
** Also when he's teamed up with Hakumen, given that the guy would rather kill him, [[spoiler: which makes sense when you remember that he's an alternate timeline version of Jin.]]
** In ''Episode [=BlazBlue=]'', Ragna clearly doesn't like the idea of teaming up with [[{{Troll}} Hazama]].
** Teaming up with Naoto is something neither of the two enjoys either.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck:
** When Orie asks if he is Ragna The Bloodedge, he already knows where the encounter is going:
--->That's... never a good question.
** He has a similar reaction when Nu-13 finds him while he's already being accosted by Aegis and Vatista.
--->Oh '''''God.'''''
* ThreeStrikeCombo: His Inferno Divider can be followed up by 2 more commands. His EX Dead Spike borrowed from his Unlimited form can also be followed up by 2 more commands.
* WhenHeSmiles: A meta example, since fans have predicted that things might go well for him based on his character art. Namely, it's the first time he's shown smiling in his character art, and it's a really cool smile.

-->''Hmph. Do your best to not get in my way.''\

An NOL Major heralded as a war hero and the younger brother of Ragna. In the past, possessed by the malevolent spirit Yuuki Terumi, Jin took the Nox Nyctores Yukianesa and used it to nearly kill his brother. He was adopted by the influential Kisaragi family, one of the members of the NOL-affiliated family group called the Duodecim. His work in the Military Academy allowed him to attain the rank of First Lieutenant, and one of his early missions saw him end the Ikaruga Civil War, earning him the title the Hero of Ikaruga and the rank of Major. Upon learning that Ragna had resurfaced in Kagutsuchi, Jin deserted his post to assassinate him, but would later ally with him as they turned their attention to the true forces behind their ruined childhoods.\

Jin bears the Yukianesa, a Nox Nyctores[[note]]legendary weapons considered the ultimate form of Ars Magus[[/note]] which takes the form of an iai katana with a blade made of permafrost. Yukianesa grants him cryokinetic abilities, using seithr to create freezing ice projectiles and barriers with a swing of his weapon.\

Like his brother, Jin is a highly versatile character who focuses primarily on a rushdown strategy with good options for poking and approach and some of the better assists in the game, but his anti-air game is risky and his guard break game is relatively poor. Overall, Jin has few clear weaknesses and is a good choice for a new player.\

His Distortion Skills are '''Touga Hyoujin[[note]]lit. Freeze Fang Ice Blade[[/note]]''', a SwordBeam that covers the ground it traverses across in ice; and '''Hiyoku Getsumei[[note]]lit. Ice Winged Moon Cry[[/note]]''', an arrow of ice that can be fired at an upward angle from the ground or a downward angle from the air. His Partner Distortion Skill is '''Yukikaze[[note]]lit. Snowy Wind[[/note]]''', where Jin will jump in to slash his opponent once or multiple times if done during a Cross Combo. His Astral Heat, '''Rengoku Hyouya[[note]]lit. Purgatory Ice Night[[/note]]/Arctic Dungeon''', involves him firing a small but fast wave of ice on the ground that is unblockable. If it connects, the opponent is frozen along with the background, then [[CryonicsFailure shattered]].
----
* BadassBoast: Shares one with [[YouRemindMeOfX Orie]] if they're teamed-up together. Bonus points for finishing each other's sentences in complete sync.
--> '''Jin:''' Let the hammer of justice fall...\
'''Orie:''' ... on all who would disrupt order.
** Also shares one with [[TheRival Seth]] when they're teamed-up and much like with Orie, bonus points for finishing each other's sentence that doubles as well in their victory interactions.
---> '''Jin:''' Your life can end one of two ways:\
'''Seth:''' Freeze eternally or disappear into darkness. Your choice.\
'''Jin:''' Sleep now under the freezing night.\
'''Seth:''' And lament the folly of challenging us.
* BadassCape: A unique kind of capes attached to where his coat's sleeves should have been. He also [[ClothingCombat attacks with it]] in a few of his normal moves.
* BattleCouple: When on a team with Izayoi.
* BerserkButton: While he's usually calm and collected (if a bit of a {{Jerkass}}), Jin goes absolutely insane as soon as Ragna shows up.
--> '''Jin (if in a team with Ragna)''': BROTHER, LET'S KILL EACH OTHER!!!
** [[spoiler: Actually subverted when he and Ragna team up together near the end of ''Episode [=BlazBlue=]''. Jin never once displays any of his trademark psychotic behavior and instead boasts of how their brotherly bonds are strong with a straight attitude, something which shocks Ragna.]]
* BladeSpam: His Sekkajin move (a special move from his games, now part of his smart combos) has him repeatedly slash his opponent at close range with his blade.
* BlueIsHeroic: Played with. He's hailed as a "hero", but he could care less about it because he knows that his achievements are never genuine (for reasons detailed in his games). He's also rather aloof and seemingly antisocial. However, he at least grows into a more heroic person over time.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: Yosuke seems to believe that the two of them fit this well and should start doing comedy. Jin, on the other hand, finds him extremely annoying [[BlackComedy and would rather just cut his tongue out]].
* BigDamnHeroes: A small one in Episode Extra when he took Weiss out of harm's way in their Snow Racing. As with his home series, it's shown that as much of a cold person he is, he still won't hesitate to [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold help someone in need of his assistance]].
--> '''Weiss:''' I suppose I owe you one.\
'''Jin:''' Thank me later. Focus on the race!
* BornUnlucky: Like Ragna, he has the luck stat of 1. He's aware that he's been manipulated by people throughout his life, which is the reason he doesn't think much of his accomplishments.
* CainAndAbel: Jin is the antagonistic one, to the point where his obsession with killing his brother has been {{Flanderized}} into CombatSadomasochist-esque HoYay (in Gag Reels at least, in the main story CharacterDevelopment had him get over this more and more each game). He's also the Cain to [[spoiler:Noel]]'s Abel since she's a clone of his sister.
* CoolBoard: His Musou Senshouzan (aka "The Ice Car") special has him [[DeadlyLunge surfing forward on a board]] made of ice to collide onto his opponent.
** In Episode Extra, it is shown that he can even use his Ars Magus ability to determine the speed of said Ice Car and Weiss can even maneuver it with her own Semblance when she rode it with him.
* CoolSword: Taken ''literally'', as Yukianesa's blade is actually made of ice.
* CuteAndPsycho: He acts like this when he's willing to kill his beloved brother Ragna. In the story, he lacks his killing intent, but still acts as a smitten teenage girl towards him.
* DemotedToExtra: His role as {{Deuteragonist}} from the main games is usurped by Rachel in this game.
* FantasticRacism: He insults Blake in their special intro by calling her a beast. Pretty shocking as animal people exist in his own world and he hasn't shown any sentiments like that before in his home game (in fact Makoto the squirrel beastkin [[MoralityPet is one of the few people he's kind of nice to]]). It could be just him being rude as usual.
* {{Foil}}:
** Jin and Weiss both have [[AnIcePerson powers over ice]] and {{Jerkass}} tendencies that contrast with the protagonists of their respective works, Ruby and Ragna. The difference comes in that Weiss rather quickly came to mellow out and even developed a friendship with Ruby, whereas Jin took a long time to warm up to others and even then, never stopped his rivalry with Ragna since even after overcoming Yukianesa's influence and occasionally being willing to [[EnemyMine team up with him to deal with greater threats]], he still believes he has to kill Ragna for the sake of the world and [[MercyKill to end his brother's suffering]]. In a subversion, the two don't interact when paired in gameplay.
** To a character who does not appear in-game but the similarity is pointed out by Blake: [[Characters/RWBYAdamTaurus to Adam Taurus]]. Both are very fast iaido practitioners with long katanas, both are pretty boys and both are ''bad''. However, Adam is strictly an antagonistic force in ''RWBY'''s story, while Jin is more of an AntiHero than anything.
* HeyYou: As usual, he calls Noel "shogai" in the Japanese dub, which has several translations, e.g. "trash".
* HarmlessFreezing: This effect occurs on some of his special moves, which leaves the opponent open to further attacks.
* IWorkAlone: Owing to his aloof attitude, he denounces any sort of help in his character introduction and insists he fights against his opponents on his own.
* IaijutsuPractitioner: Some of his sword attacks are quick unsheath-resheath slashes aimed at a direction.
* AnIcePerson: As his weapon's name implies, Yukianesa grants him some form of cryomancy.
* JackOfAllStats: While he's slightly weaker than Ragna, he also has tools that can easily cover most situations, including ranged attacks.
* {{Jerkass}}: Definitely not the most pleasant person to be around, [[HiddenHeartOfGold though he's not completely heartless]]. He's especially rude to Noel, constantly putting her down and calling her an idiot, which leads to TeethClenchedTeamwork if they're put on a team together. Jin makes sure to be as rude and demeaning to his partners as possible. Yosuke puts it best:
-->'''Jin:''' (Jin is just standing there angrily)\
'''Yosuke:''' [[CaptainObvious Why do I get the feeling you're pissed off]]?
* KatanasAreJustBetter: Yukianesa, naturally.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Lust SIN''. He also has ''Under Heaven Destruction'' when teamed up with Ragna and ''Imperial Code'' when teamed up with Noel.
* LightIsGood: Dresses in bright colors, and grows from a figurehead hero to an actual (anti-heroic) one, [[{{GoodIsNotNice}} but his personality and attitude leave a lot to be desired.]]
* NotSoStoic: Jin is usually very calm and is indifferent to most of the cast, like in his home series, but he shows his [[{{Yandere}} toxic affection towards Ragna]], his disdain towards Noel, but also his soft side towards Tsubaki (his LoveInterest), Orie (who resembles Tsubaki in personality), Mai (whom he's friendly with), and Seth (who he seems to work very well with despite his contempt of how Assassins like him fight).
* TheLeader: His official bio even states that despite his condescending attitude, he still pretty much excels as a leader which speaks volumes for [[TheAce his high level of charisma]] much like from his home series. Pretty fitting for being the Commander of the NOL's Praetorian Guard and the StudentCouncilPresident back when he was still studying in the Military Academy.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: The main reason he tolerates teaming up with his brother is to get rid of the opposing team so they don't steal his chance at beating him himself. As soon as they win, Jin ''immediately'' continues where he left off in their intro and tries to kill Ragna.
* PetTheDog: Despite his attitude, he's not completely hostile to everyone.
** To Orie, one of the only characters in the game he doesn't immediately threaten. It also helps that she has a lot of similarities with his original MoralityPet, Tsubaki Yayoi. Kind of downplayed in the Japanese version, since Jin also refers to her as 'Onna' (a rather dismissive way to say 'woman') in their win quote. Also, he implicitly threatens to gut her when she starts expressing concern about his attitude.
** Naturally, this also extends to Tsubaki herself when teamed up with her (Izayoi).
** He's also very friendly with Mai. He even compliments her and she sweetly returns the favor.
** As of 2.0 update, he's shown to be able to work perfectly well with Weiss Schnee in Episode Extra despite their rocky introductions (as befitting of both being a {{Tsundere}}). Their dialogues also show that their personalities and tactics mesh well with each other.
** He also seems to work very well with Seth according to their interactions in battle. Although downplayed in their Victory Screen quotes where he expresses his blunt contempt of how Assassins like him fight. Much like with Orie, FridgeBrilliance occurs when you remembered that back in his home series, Jin has been constantly targeted by numerous Assassins ([[BigScrewedUpFamily hired by jealous siblings from his own adoptive family, no less]]) to execute him back in his days in the Military Academy so it only makes sense that Seth's fighting style makes him a tad bit ''too'' uncomfortable.
* RedBaron: Single-handedly winning the Ikaruga Civil War earned him the nickname of "the Hero of Ikaruga." The first character introduction trailer gives him a new one - "Hero of the Frozen Blade," a reference to the title of the light novel spinoff starring him.
* TheRival: Towards his brother Ragna.
* ShapingYourAttacks: One of his moves is to create a big wolf head out of ice. His Hishoken and Hishogeki specials are him throwing a blade made of ice as a projectile, and his air C attack and Hishousetsu EX special (based on the ''CF'' version of Hishogeki) create a stationary snowflake that freezes upon contact.
* ShipTease:
** With [[YouRemindMeOfX Orie]], surprisingly. She seems to be one of the only characters he's genuinely nice to. FridgeBrilliance ensues when you realize that Orie is very similar to Tsubaki, his own LoveInterest.
** And of course, with [[LoveInterest Izayoi]], just like in their own home series. Their interactions in-game are pretty sweet, too.
** As of the latest 2.0 update, he finally has this with Weiss Schnee in Episode Extra. Despite both of them being somewhat demeaning to each other at first ([[{{Jerkass}} which is no surprise given their respective canon personalities]]), they managed to work together well on the Snow Racing competition and perfectly [[AnIcePerson combined their powers of ice to manipulate the environment to their advantage]] [[spoiler: even though they lost, in the end]]. Before the race begins, the Announcer even jokingly calls them [[AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther "Lovebirds"]] and they did not even deny it.
* {{Shotoclone}}: He has the Hishoken and Hishogeki specials as his projectile, his Fubuki and Rehhyou specials as his AntiAir and his Musou Senshouzan as his dash-forward move.
* SiblingTeam: If teamed up with Ragna or Noel. Not that he likes it, see TeethClenchedTeamwork below.
* SingleStrokeBattle: His Yukikaze shows up as a smart combo ender and as his Distortion Skill Duo.
* SkillGateCharacters: The game gives him a high Casual stat, which refers to his general ease of use in his origin game.
* SmugSuper: While he's extremely arrogant and condescending, he's more than capable of backing up his trash talk.
* SwordBeam: His Touga Hyoujin DS is him sending a crescent beam out of his sword forward. If done in Resonance Blaze, the move freezes the opponent, then Jin adds an attack where he does a SwordPlant that conjures multiple ice blades out of the ground to impale the opponent.
* SwordPlant: Aside from Touga Hyoujin above, his Astral Heat also starts with him planting his sword on the ground to send out ice energy across it.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: [[{{Jerkass}} He has no real patience for anyone he's not really close to and he's quick to point this out with anyone he's teamed up]]. Doubly so when paired up with Ragna, Noel, or Yosuke, in which all of them make it clear that these are the people [[AxCrazy he would rather be stabbing than helping]], ''especially'' Ragna.
** Averted with Ragna in ''Episode [=BlazBlue=]''. Jin is very eager to team up with his beloved brother, and while Jin still acts like he normally does, he never speaks about killing him.
* {{Tsundere}}: Carried over from his home series. You can count the people on one hand he's very nice to, and he's just un-emotional and neutral (at his best) to most.

-->''Everything will be alright if we work together!''\

A second lieutenant in the NOL and the [[TheHeroine female lead]] for ''[=BlazBlue=]''. As a child, she was originally found in the ruins of Ibukido and adopted into the Vermillion family. Wanting to help support her family, she eventually entered into the NOL's military academy despite her distaste for violence. She originally tried to vie for a position away from the battlefield after graduating but due to her exceptionally high Ars Magus rating, she was assigned to Jin's squad and acted as his secretary. After Jin went AWOL to pursue Ragna, she was tasked with finding him and would go on to unravel the mystery of her peculiar origins.\

Noel wields the Nox Nyctores, Bolverk - a pair of handguns that can morph into other weapons and shoot through boundaries. They also cut off Noel's emotions and allow her to fight more efficiently. Noel herself wields these weapons in the style of Gunkata, blitzing enemies with fast combos using her Chain Revolver Drive.\

Noel is a rushdown character with a lot of focus on movement, played best aggressively and taking advantage of her mixups. Ironically for a gun user, she is more of a close-range fighter than a long-range one.\

Her Distortion Skills are '''Zero Gun: Fenrir''', which transforms her guns into a Gatling gun; and '''Bullet Storm - Zero Gun: Thor''', an aerial barrage of bullets followed by an RPG attack. Her Astral Heat, '''Valkyrie Veil''', has her creating a magical seal around her opponent and shooting them repeatedly with her guns. She then detonates the seal from within by clashing the butts of the guns together.
----
* ACupAngst: Saying something about her breast size is an easy way to piss her off.
* AllLovingHero: To the point where even [[NiceGuy Hyde]] can't believe how much she cares about people that just tried to attack them.
* ApologeticAttacker: A few of Noel's quotes are apologizing to her opponents and showing reluctance to fight.
* BadassAdorable: Despite not having "Kawaii" as part of her stats, she's still a cute girl who likes cute things and is genuinely friendly towards most of the cast. She can also kick ass on screen, but only when she needs to and generally dislikes starting unnecessary fights.
* {{BFG}}: Her Zero Gun: Thor DS has her turning her guns into an RPG and then she fires a shot from it, dealing high damage.
* BlownAcrossTheRoom: Her [[ShotgunsAreJustBetter Chamber Shot]] (part of her smart combo) and Bloom Trigger specials can blow the enemy towards the far wall.
* BlueIsHeroic: Like Jin, she's associated with the color blue, as well as the power of the Azure. This is reflected in her nickname.
* BornUnlucky: Has a luck stat of 2, likely a reference to her being a CosmicPlaything.
* BrotherSisterTeam: If paired with Ragna or Jin as she's a clone of their sister [[spoiler: and eventually became said sister's {{Reincarnation}} at the end of ''Central Fiction'']].
* ButtMonkey: Taking away her CosmicPlaything status, there's still the fact that a ''lot'' of ''[=BlazBlue=]'''s funny moments come at her expense, and [[{{Jerkass}} Jin]] is at his worst when she's around.
* CainAndAbel: An Abel to Jin's Cain, since she's a bio-android clone of his sister Saya [[spoiler: and fully became Saya's {{Reincarnation}} at the end of ''Central Fiction'']], and, unlike with his {{Yandere}} tendencies towards Ragna, Jin actively hates her.
* CompositeCharacter: Some of her intro and outro dialogues with Nu indicate that she doesn't know [[spoiler: she is Mu-12]], yet her appearance is from Chronophantasma (where she's aware of it), and she attempts to use some of the perks that come with it later on in the story.
* ConfusionFu: Some parts of her Chain Revolver moves can either hit overhead or low, which can catch the opponent off-guard.
* DashAttack: Her Assault Through EX special has her step forward a bit before performing a body check. This move can pass through the opponent and then hit from their back if done close enough.
* DemotedToExtra: In contrast to the main ''[=BlazBlue=]'' games, Noel's role in Episode Mode is severely reduced with the role of main female being taken over by Rachel instead.
* DualWielding: Arcus Diabolus: Bolverk's primary form is [[GunsAkimbo a pair of]] [[HandCannon large guns]], although they can [[MorphWeapon change into other forms]].
* {{Foil}}: Noel and Naoto Shirogane are viewed as [[ShrinkingViolet shy]] [[TheGunslinger gun-wielding]] girls who often get mistaken for the opposite gender. However, while Naoto purposely disguises herself as a boy thanks to her working in a male-dominated profession, mistaking Noel's gender is a BerserkButton for her. Also, while Noel has a huge case of ACupAngst, Naoto is implied to have a case of DCupDistress thanks to her being rather embarrassed of [[HiddenBuxom her having the largest bust size]] out of the Investigation Team. Also, while Noel is a LethalChef, Naoto is the only girl in the Investigation Team that averts that trope.
* GunFu: Her aerial normal moves have her spinning and flipping around while firing her guns.
* GunKata: Her Chain Revolver moves are based on this.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: Her Flash Suppressor special is her firing her gun downward multiple times to hit the downed opponent.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Bullet Dance''. She also has ''Imperial Code'' when teamed up with Jin.
* LethalChef: Noel has a reputation for being a bad cook in her home universe, and neither Ragna nor Makoto want anything she whips up for them. In ''Episode Under Night In-Birth'', she ends up meeting fellow Lethal Chef Yukiko [[spoiler: and it turns out ''Noel is the worse chef of the two''. The meeting ends up in a Hyde and Yukiko match against Noel and Platinum, and the losing team has to eat the curry they had made.]]
--> '''Hyde:''' (The pressure coursing out of this dish... It's as if the Hollow Night was simmered in a pot and served up on a plate...)
* MachineMonotone: Slips into this briefly in her Battle Intro if teamed up with Nu-13. [[spoiler: This hints at her true nature as Murakumo Unit Mu -No.12-.]]
* MagicSkirt: As it is the norm, this applies to Noel, which is good considering her official art shows her skirt riding as low as ever and does little to dispel the long-running fan theory that she's {{going commando}}.
* MoreDakka: Zero Gun: Fenrir DS turns Bolverk into [[GatlingGood a Gatling gun]] that, if the opponent is hit by the tip of the gun, juggles the enemy into a final CoupDeGrace in the form of a charged shot.
* MurderousThighs: Her Muzzle Flitter special has her catch her opponent's head and neck between her legs and twirls off them to reposition herself and throw her opponent aside.
* NiceGirl: Noel is quite a pleasant girl who enjoys making friends despite being pretty [[ShrinkingViolet shy]].
* NoFairCheating: An in-universe example. The Facilitator states that the Keystones are the only objects which are allowed to return the holding team to their world; when Noel tries to [[StoryBreakerPower Observe an exit as the Eye of the Azure]], she is immediately removed from the field.
* SexyBacklessOutfit: Apparently part of [[AuthorAppeal Mori's design quirks]].
* ShortRangeShotgun: Her Chamber Shot special turns her guns into a shotgun, which only releases a blast in front of her.
* {{Shoryuken}}: Her Spring Raid special has her performing a somersault kick upward.
* ShrinkingViolet: Noel's hobby is online shopping with an emphasis on the fact that it means she doesn't have to meet people and is quite shy if you're not already friends with her.
* SiblingTeam: If teamed up with Ragna or Jin.
* SkillGateCharacters: She has a high Casual rank, which refers to her ease of use.

]
-->''Devote all your best effort, or prepare to be disciplined.''\

The heir of the noble Alucard family and a vampire who has lived for centuries, Rachel spends most of her time dillydallying away in her private world, the Alucard Castle, alongside her familiars Nago and Gii, and her BattleButler [[CoolOldGuy Valkenhayn R. Hellsing]]. While seemingly aloof and arrogant, she cares for the safety and flow of the universe, observing and planning behind-the-scenes to fight the machinations of those who would do it harm. She has a vested interest in Ragna, having saved his life prior by allowing him to fuse the Azure Grimoire into his body, and views him as a powerful player in the struggles to come.\

In battle, Rachel uses her extensive powers over the weather and sorcery to dominate the battlefield, while using Nago and Gii as unfortunate yet very willing melee weapons. Her Drive ability, Slipheed, lets her manipulate wind current to enhance her attacks.\

Rachel's playstyle is that of a zoner. Even though her average damage is not so great, she can use her very good range and space control to set the flow of the battle. Rachel is a complicated character best left for advanced players, extremely rewarding to play if mastered but punished heavily for anything less than the perfection she so clearly embodies.\

Her Distortion Skills are '''Tempest Dahlia''', which summons a gust of wind that buries her opponent in assorted refuse; and '''Baden Baden Lily''', which summons lightning to strike around Rachel and any rods she erected. Her Astral Heat, '''Clownish Calendula''', lifts the opponent above a large crucifix as a huge thunderbolt strikes them dead.
----
* AttackAnimal: Aside from [[{{Familiar}} Gii and Nago]], there's George XIII the electric frog. Summoning one costs one bar of the Skill Gauge, but she can summon multiple Georges at a time.
* BlowYouAway: Rachel's drive, Silpheed, causes intense gusts of wind that she can use to position herself, her enemies, or her lightning rods. She can also [[TornadoMove summon a tornado]] in a few of her moves.
* ClothingCombat: Rachel can weaponize parts of her dress by causing them to produces things like spikes and drills.
* CoolChair: Nago can turn into a chair for Rachel to slouch over in his opening or win poses. One of her normal moves also has Gii turning into an electric chair that shocks opponents.
* CulturedBadass: When she's not fighting Rachel is usually found drinking tea in her castle.
* DeadpanSnarker: Rachel is practically the queen of this trope. She has a backhanded barbed insult for basically everybody she doesn't like. Which would be basically everybody, [[WellExcuseMePrincess and especially Ragna]].
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Usurps this role from Jin for this game, unlike in the original series where she gets fourth billing at best. She's notable for being one of the only characters to appear in all four episodes of the game's Episode Mode, either as an ally or an opponent. Outside of this, she is much more involved in the central plot than even Ragna, having [[spoiler: been the one to release the keystones and set the story in motion in the first place.]]
* ElegantGothicLolita: Just ''look'' at her. Black and red and frills all over.
* EnemyMine: If placed on the same team with Hazama.
* {{Familiar}}: Nago and Gii. Much like her dress, they can shapeshift for her to [[EquippableAlly utilize as attacks]]... or her shield.
* FlowerMotifs: Just like Ruby, it's roses. Whenever she uses Silpheed, rose petals will blow to a direction.
* {{Foil}}:
** With Ruby. Two girls connected by a rose motif, one being a brash, enthusiastic and inexperienced young fighter while the other being much more reserved and a ''[[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld lot]]'' older. Despite the massive difference in personality, when it comes to their intros, [[NotSoAboveItAll Rachel backs up Ruby's affirmation that they're a team]].
** Rachel and Linne are both snarky princesses who are much, ''much'' OlderThanTheyLook, both have {{familiar}}s and both act as mentor figures to rough-around-the-edges guys who swear a lot. Linne prefers to fight with a sword and knife combo personally, whereas Rachel prefers to use magic and her familiars to fight (that is not to say she is being a coward, she just doesn't want to sully her hands).
* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: She's snarky, arrogant, and talking with her can give someone just as many questions as it does answers, but Rachel doesn't like drinking blood. Her one-time exception was saving Ragna's life.
* GirlishPigtails: Very long ones at that. They're tied with rabbit ears-like black ribbons, which leads Ragna to call her "Rabbit".
* GrandTheftMe: On the receiving end if she's paired with Naoto Kurogane; her younger sister Raquel takes over her body as long as she fights with him.
* HumanShield: More like Familiar Shield, but still, she never gets hit herself - her normal "hit" animation has Nago take the hit (it helps that he's TooKinkyToTorture), while her blocking animation has Gii doing so.
* ImprovisedLightningRod: Her Tiny Lobelia special move lets her shoot arcing projectiles that turn into lightning rods when they land on the ground. They are then used for her Sword Iris special (summoning lightning), or her Barrel Lotus special (the rods turn into bats that [[HomingProjectile slowly home in on enemies]]).
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Rachel is physically abusive to her familiars and verbally abusive to pretty much ''everyone but Valkenhayn'', but she really does care in the end and has a particularly soft spot for Ragna... [[{{Tsundere}} which just means he gets the abuse more than most]].
* LadyOfBlackMagic: Elegant, vampiric, wears a black and red frilly dress and fights using elemental sorcery and weather powers.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Queen of Rose''. She also has ''White Requiem'' when teamed up with Ragna.
* LittleMissBadass: Looks like a little girl but she's also among the strongest beings in the ''[=BlazBlue=]'' world.
* LongRangeFighter: She has a high "range" stat, a reference to her fighting style, i.e controlling space.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler: The entire events of the game happened because she accidentally broke her father's seals to the Keystones, thus allowing the System to activate.]]
* NotSoAboveItAll: Despite her holier than thou attitude, she has no problem engaging in certain antics, such as reaffirming Ruby's name for them as "Team Rose". Linne even calls her out on her capricious attitude in their win quote.
* ParasolOfPain: Nothing says "pain" more than a parasol who's also a shapeshifting familiar cat.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Rachel's cardinal sin from the original ''[=BlazBlue=]'' series is back in full force. You'd think she would be more open with everyone about what the hell is going on, [[spoiler: especially given her unlocking of the Keystones is the reason the plot happens in the first place]], but she puts on too haughty an air for her own good and expects everyone to just comply.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: She may look like a little girl, yet, by the end of ''Calamity Trigger'' and its GroundhogDayLoop, she had lived for '''at least 72,500 years'''.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Has red eyes and is a powerful combatant.
* ShapeshifterWeapon: Gii and Nago transform themselves for Rachel's attacks.
* ShockAndAwe: Channels lightning with her Baden Baden Lily Distortion Skill, her Sword Iris, and George XIII, as well as her Clownish Calendula.
* SmugSuper: Don't be fooled by her appearance. Rachel is an extremely ancient and powerful being and isn't shy about letting you know.
-->'''Rachel:''' I hope you appreciate how great an honor it is to be chosen as my partner.
* SoreLoser: Her defeat quote:
-->''"[[ButtMonkey Gii, Nago]], you're being punished later."''
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Not Rachel herself, but her attack George XIII. Unlike previous English localization, her stats spell its name as "Georg."

TR-0009 "Iron" Tager was once the leader of a mercenary group who got mortally injured on a mission by Azrael; he was rescued by a Beastkin scientist from Sector Seven named Kokonoe who modified and healed him with cybernetic implants and demon genes. Since then, he has become Kokonoe's main field operative, performing missions to assist his new master in her scientific works. Despite his fearsome appearance, Tager is actually a sensible and practical gentleman who deplores unnecessary violence but because of his UndyingLoyalty towards Kokonoe, he often finds it.\

Tager's size is a good indicator of his immense power; his ability to deal pulverizing blows is only hindered by his slow movement speed. To compensate for that, his unique ability "Voltic Battler" uses his cyborg enhancements to empower his strikes with electricity and magnetizes his foes with them, allowing him to forcefully attract his opponents into his attack range for devastating slam attacks.\

Tager is an aggressive, close-range grappler with very high HP and burst damage from his command grabs. However, he is a bit slow on the move (though he can use his magnetic abilities to bring an enemy in closer and his Voltic Battler to close a short gap quickly) and he cannot air dash or double jump. He is also a big, inviting target.\

His Distortion Skills are '''Magna Tech Wheel''', an electrically-charged spinning lariat; and '''Genesic Emerald Tager Buster''', which pulls his opponent in magnetically and, upon grabbing them, follows into a devastating body slam. His Astral Heat, '''King of Tager''', makes him do a ridiculously exaggerated version of his GETB in which he lifts the opponent high into the sky and crashes them down into the Earth, emerging from the resultant crater afterwards.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: He's got red skin, apparently because of demon cells grafted into his body.
* CraterPower: His GETB Distortion Skill causes a huge crater on the ground as he slams the enemy into it. King of Tager, naturally, takes it up a notch.
* {{Cyborg}}: Has multiple cybernetic enhancements underneath his big body. It's apparently [[PowerSource atom-powered]] and its potential strength is on par with Nox Nyctores.
* EnergyBall: His Spark Bolt special move sends out a large, powerful and quick ball of electricity that [[BlownAcrossTheRoom sends the enemy to the back wall]] and magnetizes them. In his home series, he has a separate meter that had to be filled to use this move but here, it only costs one bar of the Skill Gauge.
* FaceOfAThug: He may look demonic [[FangsAreEvil with fangs]] but he's actually [[NiceGuy a nice person]], at least if you're not his enemy or if Kokonoe isn't telling him to smack you.
* {{Foil}}: Tager and Waldstein are both massive mountains of MightyGlacier muscle who fight with hard-hitting grapples and throws, they both pledge loyalties and act as subordinates to a small woman (Tager serves Kokonoe and Waldstein serves Linne), they both have a rival in the form of a dark-skinned, tattooed warrior who fights with their bare fists (Tager's rival is Azrael and Waldstein's rival is Enkidu) and [[FaceOfAThug they both have personalities that run counter to their imposing appearances]]. While Tager is a gentle guy who abhors unnecessary violence and only fights because Kokonoe orders him to (his cyborg implants prevent any protest and he feels he owes Kokonoe his life anyway), Waldstein is a BloodKnight who relishes opportunities to fight against his master's enemies but is still on the side of good. Best shown in their intro animation where Tager tries to discuss the best way to deal with their situation, which Waldstein responds with "The only way I know how... With power!!"
* GeniusBruiser: He may look big and demonic but as an assistant to a scientist, he's got to be smart.
* GentleGiant: At nearly eight feet tall and over a half-ton in weight, he is easily the heaviest character in the cast and second only to Waldstein in height. For all of his mass, however, he is a NiceGuy outside of combat while also being a very reasonable and practical person overall.
* GrappleMove: Specializes in this.
* GroundPound: His air C attack (formerly his Crimson Punisher special in his game) has him smacking the midair enemy downward, then slamming his body onto them.
* TheIgor: For Kokonoe, the scientist who [[WeCanRebuildHim rebuilt him back when he was dying]]. He places his UndyingLoyalty in her because he feels he owes her his life.
* InvulnerableAttack: His standing B attack is based on his Sledgehammer special from his games, where he can guard himself by holding the button before the attack comes out.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: His Gadget Finger move has him picking up his downed opponent, then lifting them up and magnetizing them with his hand. In this game, it can only be used as a follow up after certain moves, a step down compared to ''Central Fiction'' where it had no such limitations. [[note]]In fact, his Advanced Trials in ''Central Fiction'' require whiffing Gadget Finger to draw the magnetized opponent towards him in the right position to continue the combo.[[/note]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''MOTOR HEAD''. He also has ''[=Sector7=]'' when teamed up with Makoto.
* MagnetismManipulation: His cyborg enhancements let him manipulate magnetism, attracting his opponents to him. Unlike in his home series, however, he doesn't need to magnetize his opponents first. His magnetic attacks will ''always'' draw in the opponent.
* MegatonPunch: His Terra Break move (either done as a Distortion Skill Duo or automatically after Magna Tech Wheel when in Resonance Blaze) is a powerful punch charged with electricity.
* MeteorMove: His Gigantic Tager Driver, its Distortion Skill version, Genesic Emerald Tager Buster, and his Astral Heat, has him tossing up his foe and leaping up to grab them before slamming them into the ground, breaking the opponent's body in the process.
* MightyGlacier: Very slow moving but has high damage output, and can tank damage well.
* MusclesAreMeaningful: They stand for his high HP and attack power.
* NiceGuy: Actually, yes. Tager abhors unnecessary violence and usually only fights as a last resort or when his directive requires him to, and then he still doesn't make it personal. His cybernetic implants prevent any protest, and he feels he owes Kokonoe his life so he has to do it.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: A demonic cyborg who WasOnceAMan, and works as a scientist's assistant. He's also technically a zombie, considering his past.
* {{Oni}}: The Japanese version calls him "Akaoni/Red Oni"; the English version calls him "Red Devil". Either way, he looks close to one.
* OpaqueNerdGlasses: His glasses always conceal his eyes.
* PowerFist: He's got huge metallic gauntlets that he channels electricity into.
* SphereOfDestruction: His Reversal Action, Charge Lightning, has him emitting a sphere of electricity that momentarily covers his body for brief protection.
* SpinAttack: His Magna Tech Wheel DS has him spinning with arms outstretched and emitting sparks.
* SpockSpeak: Being partially robotic-minded, his speeches go like this; he also tends to be calm, especially when outside of combat.
* StrongAndSkilled: Unlike Waldstein, Tager's extreme physical power is matched with a brilliant mind and an {{Old Soldier}}'s experience. You won't be seeing him dismissing tactics in favor of just sheer force.
* SuperStrength: His multiple enhancements give him this.
* TeamDad: Tager usually plays this role to younger, more impulsive partners like Makoto, Hyde, and Yang. None of them can stand this side of him for long, though.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: With his Voltic Battler ability, he can drag magnetized opponents towards him.

]
-->''Who... are you? Enemy...?''\

Nu-13 is one of the Boundary Interface Prime Field Devices designed by Relius Clover to explore the strange dimension called the Boundary and find the Master Unit: Amaterasu. She's also the first successful Murakumo Unit, who are designed to be able to wield the Nox Nyctores Murakumo to be used as a combat unit. She normally acts as robotic as she appears, but she also for some reason has an unhealthy obsession with Ragna, towards whom she shows more of her human side - in a rather creepy way, which Ragna doesn't reciprocate.\

Utilizing her Murakumo, she can attack by using a set of flying blades that she can manipulate in various ways, and her ability Sword Summoner lets her summon even more blades to impale her enemies from far away.\

Nu-13 lives and breathes "zoner". Her spacing tools are exceptional, and are a threat even on the other side of the screen, able to control the pace of a fight and prevent a safe approach. However, she has limited HP and fewer options for fighting someone who gets close. Anticipating your opponent's moves is critical to playing Nu-13 well as a mistake can be punished severely.\

Her Distortion Skills are '''Legacy Edge''', which summons a storm of blades to fly across the screen; and '''Calamity Sword''', which crushes her opponent from overhead with a large blade. Her Astral Heat, '''Sword of Destruction''', has her holding the opponent in place as she conjures a large magical sword that fatally impales them in midair, as an animated cutscene.
----
* ArtificialHuman: Like most Prime Field Devices before her, she was made in a lab by Relius. She's also a clone of Ragna's sister, Saya, partly explaining her attachment to him.
* AxCrazy: Don't let her appearance fool you. Nu desires wanton destruction on a global scale. Weiss wanting to fight fair confuses her and makes her reply that killing everyone that gets in the way is a better alternative.
--> ''"[[CreepyMonotone Why do you get in Nu's way?]] '''[[MurderIsTheBestSolution Die.]]'''"''
* BecomeYourWeapon: When she uses her Murakumo, she merges with it, the weapon becoming an armor that covers her body and gives her 8 floating blades.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: She has 2 short blades underneath her forearms that she can use for close attacks.
* DeadlyDisc: Her Sickle Storm sends out a disc/sickle that rolls on the ground. She's able to make it roll from ''behind'' her enemy to catch them off guard and, on hit, [[YouWillNotEvadeMe bring them closer to her]].
* DeathFromAbove: Her Calamity Sword Distortion Skill summons a giant sword above the enemy's head that she then slams down.
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: Her Attack rating is low, so she relies on doing multiple weak hits that add up.
* {{Foil}}:
** Nu-13 and Vatista are both white-haired, red-eyed artificially created beings that use RazorWings to fight, but while Nu is a borderline OmnicidalManiac that exists to destroy, [[GoodCounterpart Vatista is a nigh-emotionless defender of the Hollow Night that exists to protect]]. They also have contrasting color schemes, with Nu dressing in blue and white while Vatista wears red and black.
** Nu-13 and Aegis are both [[RobotGirl Robot Girls]] with fighting styles that favor long-range combat. Personality-wise, however, the two are practically polar opposites: Aegis is a kind-hearted woman who is fiercely loyal to her friends, while Nu has practically no personality to speak of, being almost completely robotic in her mannerisms (unless Ragna enters the picture, in which case she goes full-{{Yandere}}).
* FlyingWeapon: She primarily attacks with her 8 flying swords. Said swords are normally positioned behind her [[SymbolicWings like a pair of wings]], which she then swings around to [[RazorWings cut her enemies.]]
* GlassCannon: Nu is infamous for her ability to fill the screen with deadly blades which make it hard for an enemy to get close, but her HP maximum is a paltry 16,000, one of the lowest in the game (on par with [[FragileSpeedster Yosuke]] and [[SquishyWizard Yukiko]])
* GrappleMove: Her Astral Heat starts with a close-range grab.
* GravityMaster: Her Gravity Seed move (only available as a Partner Skill) creates an area in front of Nu with high gravity, slowing down opponents caught in it.
* LagCancel: Her Act Parser move lets her cancel her normal B moves or her special moves with a dash.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Awakening the Chaos''.
* LongRangeFighter: She has a high Range stat, which mirrors her ability to attack and combo at long ranges.
* MachineMonotone: She speaks in an electronically distorted CreepyMonotone (complete with RoboSpeak) most of the time.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Nu is one of the Prime Field Devices designed to traverse the Boundary.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: In her outro with Ragna, she declares that only she is allowed to hurt him.
* OutOfFocus: Only appears in one chapter of ''Episode [=BlazBlue=]'' to team up with Ragna.
* {{Shoryuken}}: Her Reversal Action, Supra Rage, is a somersault kick with her blades following it.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Much like her home series, she's got Ragna on the brain 24/7, a fact that is lampshaded by her five-''heart'' "Ragna" stat. Hazama finds this particular trait about her annoying. She also refuses to link with Es, saying Ragna is the only one allowed to do that.
* TheStoic: Being more of a "robot" mind-wise, nothing really fazes or fascinates her... [[NotSoStoic other than Ragna, that is.]]
* StormOfBlades: Nu's standard modus operandi. Her fighting style revolves around keeping her foes at a distance while unleashing a devastating onslaught of her swords from all angles. Her Legacy Edge DS is simply a flurry of blades flying forward.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Whenever she's with Ragna, she talks like this.
* VillainDecay: Thanks to her being OutOfFocus, her desire to destroy her own world does not show up at all in the story, as it focuses more on her {{Yandere}} personality.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: She's white-haired and she's a villain, although she's mostly used as a tool for other villains. While she's at least sweet to Ragna, she's also completely psychotic about it.
* {{Yandere}}: Drops her machine monotone when near Ragna. It's ill-advised to even be a woman in the same room as Ragna once Nu's switch is flipped. Nu has gotten quite a bit more expressive around others when he isn't in her vicinity in this game, but only because she's talking to them about Ragna. Vatista also outright calls her this trope in the Japanese dub.
-->'''Nu:''' I'm the only one allowed to hurt Ragna.\

-->''This is getting a little bothersome. Can I leave the rest of the work to you?''\

The shady head of the N.O.L's intelligence department - jolly, smooth and outgoing to everyone around him, Hazama is, in fact, a manipulative and scheming individual [[CrazyPrepared who seems to have plans and contingencies for almost any situation]]. He is the former vessel of the fallen hero Yuuki Terumi (AKA Susanoo), a sadistic creature brainwashed into being a member of the legendary Six Heroes who saved the world from the Black Beast. Feeding off the anger, suffering, and hate of others, Terumi has made it his life's goal to destroy a universe that he sees as nothing but lies and remake it in his own image, a world filled with nothing but despair, and had an artificial body known as Hazama crafted for him to do so. However, Hazama and Terumi have recently been separated, which means that Hazama is now his own person...[[ChaoticNeutral and nobody knows]] [[WildCard what that will bring.]]\

Hazama is equipped with the Nox Nyctores Ouroboros, a chain designed to resemble a snake that can extend indefinitely and can manipulate the memories of others. His other weapons include a pair of butterfly knives, which act as a conduit for Ouroboros.\

Hazama is Blazblue's resident sleazy troll and his playstyle reflects it: He is a moderate zoner with a lot of mobility, zipping around the screen on his chains and using hit-n-run attacks along with good mixups and specials to annoy and confuse his opponent while wearing them down. His close-range options are much less impressive, fast but very limited in reach, so be careful if you feel like playing footsies instead. Hazama is tricky to play but immensely rewarding.\

His Distortion Skills are '''Jayoku Houtenjin[[note]]lit. Snake Wing Crumbling Heaven Blade[[/note]]/Serpent's Infernal Rapture''', a strong kick that sends his opponent flying into the air; and '''Mizuchi Rekkazan[[note]]lit. Serpent Dragon Violent Luster Slash[[/note]]/Eternal Coils of the Dragon Serpent''', which can bind his opponent in place for an attack by his shadowy serpent-like tendrils. His Astral Heat, '''Senkon Meiraku[[note]]lit. Thousand Souls Dark Burning[[/note]]/Hungry Darkness of 1000 Souls''', has Hazama forming a portal beneath his feet that summons multiple Ouroboros chains from the ground to launch the opponent into the air. He then summons thousands of serpentine spirits which coalesce into a monstrous snake that devours the opponent. Hazama then takes off his tie and holds it over his opponent's corpse.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Serpents in general but with an emphasis on [[SnakesAreSinister snakes]].
* BadassInANiceSuit: Just LOOK at it. FedoraOfAsskicking, WaistcoatOfStyle, and a snazzy-looking BadassLongcoat, [[SharpDressedMan he's got it all]].
* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler:If Ragna chooses to trust Hazama in one route in the story, then heads to the final boss as normal, this results in a bad ending where Hazama gets his hands on the [=BlazBlue=] world's Keystone, and he can't wait to cause all sorts of mayhem with it. In fact, Episode Extra renders this bad ending as the ''canon'' one, as it takes place directly afterward.]]
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Hazama is a smug, sadistic bully who takes great delight in tormenting others and playing with their emotions, hidden under an insincere mask of friendliness. When he drops it, [[AxCrazy he's terrifying to see]] ([[TheSociopath especially if Terumi was ever inhabiting his body]]).
* BladeSpam: His Mizuchi Rekkazan/Eternal Coils of the Dragon Serpent Distortion Skill involves him slashing multiple times with his knife (after [[YouWillNotEvadeMe pulling his enemy towards him with Ouroboros]]) before a final attack that knocks far away.
* CastingAShadow: Like Ragna, he also wields an Azure Grimoire; he in his game claims that his version is better, with his hostee Terumi being the proclaimed creator of the original version in the first place, but this also ties into:
** ArtificialHuman: In fact, Hazama's Grimoire is literally his entire body, created specifically for Terumi for this purpose until ''Central Fiction'' (as mentioned above in BastardUnderstudy), when Hazama no longer wants anything to do with Terumi.
* ChargedAttack: The B version of Ressenga/Falling Fang and Zan'eiga/Devouring Fang special moves can be charged to make him enter a special stance. When the button is released when he's [[PowerGlows glowing green]], the attack will become more powerful and has extra properties.
* TheCoatsAreOff: Inverted. If he's chosen as the first character to start a match, one of his generic intro animations will show him slipping on the coat before the battle starts.
* ConfusionFu: Like in his games, albeit lessened here. The B version of Ressenga/Falling Fang (must be blocked standing) and Zan'eiga/Devouring Fang (must be blocked crouching), if the button is held, will make him enter a stance (Jasetsu/Serpent's Benediction from his games), which will keep the opponent guessing over which attack he's going to unleash until the button is released.
* DanceBattler: A lot of his animations are flashy and reminiscent of Music/MichaelJackson.
* DarkIsEvil: Most of his attacks are coated in dark energy.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: This game makes it more clear that this Hazama doesn't host Terumi's spirit and is his own being, just like the Hazama in the latter third of the home series. There is no sign of Terumi's maniac presence and Ragna never calls him "Terumi" like he always did before the final events of ''Chronophantasma''. Furthermore, Ragna can be given the option to trust him, something that would be unthinkable if Terumi was still residing in Hazama's body, cementing Hazama's status as a WildCard.
* DualWielding: Hazama (and Terumi alike) is very good with using both of those butterfly knives, often [[WeaponTwirling twirling and spinning them]] as he uses them to attack.
* EnemyMine: With pretty much most of the cast, since he's one of the main antagonists of ''[=BlazBlue=]'' (well, the container of one of them that is), and he can easily be paired with Ragna or Noel (among others). In ''Episode [=BlazBlue=]'', he teams up with Ragna against Weiss and Orie.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Usually. When they're open, it usually means that Terumi has taken over. Strangely enough, this game is the first time Hazama's character select art has an open eye visible.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Even after beating down his opponents and taunting them, he never drops his polite attitude. It only highlights just how monstrous he is, even without Terumi inhabiting his body.
* FedoraOfAsskicking: And somehow it stays on during the entire fight. He also twirls it on his hand as a taunt.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: ''No one'' likes having Hazama as their teammate, and any instances where characters are blissfully unaware of who he really is are portrayed in a very creepy manner. He either immediately rubs people the wrong way or makes them feel suspicious and wary.
* GrappleMove: 2 of them - Jakou/Hungry Coils has him using his Ouroboros to grab [[AntiAir the airborne opponent]], then throw them to the opposite wall. Gasaishou/Bloody Fangs is a close-range grab that leaves the opponent stunned and open for a combo.
* GreaterScopeVillain: [[spoiler: Of Episode Extra, which takes place after the "bad" ending in Episode BB. Hazama tried to use the keystone again, this time by hooking it up to Takamagahara. Keyword being "tried", as Takamagahara recognized him as being connected to Terumi and created a countermeasure - a clone of Susanoo. To his credit, on realizing how much he had messed up, he did collaborate with System to contain the Susanoo copy and orient the fighters from other worlds so they could be in a position to stop it, as well as restoring System after she shatters during the final battle so she could get them all home afterwards if nothing else than to save his own skin.]]
* GreenAndMean: Primarily color-coded green and his attacks [[SicklyGreenGlow glow with green color]]. He also has a mean streak that presents itself through trolling.
* ItAmusedMe: [[spoiler: The entire reason he kickstarted the plot of Episode Extra was because he was bored and wanted to try out controlling the Keystone and System for himself. Naturally, when everyone finds out about this, they're ''pissed''.]]
* JerkassHasAPoint: In ''Episode [=BlazBlue=]'', he calls out both Weiss and Orie and asks the two whether they actually ''have'' a plan to get everyone back to their original worlds using the Keystones. Suffice to say they don't, which only rests his case.
* KickTheDog: He makes a point to do this to Trinity in his and Platinum's interactions.
* LaughablyEvil: Splitting from Yuuki Terumi has left him less hammy, but he is no less of comedic {{Troll}}.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Gluttony Fang''. He also has ''Nightmare Fiction'' when teamed up with Ragna, and ''Six Heroes'' [[note]]Despite the complete absence of Terumi's spirit inside him.[[/note]] when teamed up with Hakumen, Platinum, Nine, or Jubei.
* LongRangeFighter: Downplayed. He has a high Range stat like Rachel, primarily through his Ouroboros, but actually trying to do space control with him is not recommended - his chains are more often used to get close to his opponent and alter his aerial movements to attack from unexpected angles.
* LostInTranslation: In the English localization, Hazama calls Ragna "Raggy", which is the same as Terumi's mocking nickname for the latter. However, in Japanese, Hazama refers to Ragna as [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseHonorifics "Ragna-kun" as opposed to Terumi's "Ragna-chan"]], which makes it much less mocking, but more neutral. This reflects Hazama's FauxAffablyEvil side, and since he never calls him "Ragna-chan" in this game, the implication of Terumi not residing in his body has been made stronger.
* ManipulativeBastard: [[spoiler: Throughout the story, he attempts to manipulate several of the combatants towards his own ends. This plays even further in Episode Extra, where not only does he kickstarts its plot but he's the one manipulating the events unfolding during it. In a twist, it turns out he was doing this because System was containing the Susanoo copy he had accidentally created to weed out the best combatants to send against the threat - though by his own admission he did get carried away with the games and events and by the end of it had unintentionally used up so much of System's power that she was unable to send everyone home right away.]]
* MindRape: His Nox Nyctores does this as a side effect. It's also basically his hobby when it comes to Terumi's more blatant usage of it back in his home series.
* ObviouslyEvil: Despite him presenting himself as an unassuming polite guy, all of the non-''[=BlazBlue=]'' characters so far can tell from just meeting him that he's up to no good, except [[KidHero Ruby]].
* OlderThanTheyLook: Much like Rachel, Hazama is much older than he seems due to being a vessel for the more-older-Terumi, being one of the oldest entities in the entire ''[=BlazBlue=]'' franchise.
* {{Sadist}}: Hazama's only real desire is to understand pain, due to [[spoiler: being an ArtificialHuman, Trinity stabbing him was the first time he felt anything]]. Unfortunately, due to his personality being somewhat based on Terumi's (who's ironically more brutality-blunt and sociopathic than Hazama has ever been), he does this by gleefully trolling and torturing everyone he meets, [[spoiler: and possibly because he's a vessel, he literally lacks a heart]].
* {{Shoryuken}}: His infamous [[LauncherMove Jayoku Houtenjin/Serpent's Infernal Rapture]] [[LimitBreak DD]] comes back, now with both a special attack version (used as a smart combo ender) and as one of his Distortion Skills. His Reversal Action, Gashokyaku/Rising Fang, is also one, done with his leg.
* TheSlacker: Hazama seems more interested in having his partners do everything for him this time around. Most of his interactions are him trying to manipulate people so that he won't have to do any real work.
* {{Troll}}: It wouldn't be Hazama without this. His very first line in his intro trailer pretty much says it all.
-->'''Hazama:''' And now presenting you... the unwelcomed guest!
** Note that in his origin game, he (more specifically Terumi) trolls others to feed on their hatred, as that's what sustains him. Despite this, ''Central Fiction'' seems to show that Hazama makes much more use of trolling than someone as vicious, sadistic, bloodthirsty and openly-blunt as Terumi.
* VariableLengthChain: His Ouroboros can extend to a far range, which he can use to [[ChainPain attack opponents from afar]] and/or [[GrapplingHookPistol move himself to a direction]].
* WildCard: After separating from Terumi while also not wanting to be his host anymore, Hazama seems to have rocketed into this status, but while still maintaining some form of a sinister agenda. He doesn’t really care about things like “good” or “evil” and just does whatever the hell he wants.
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: Has yellow eyes (akin to a snake's) and is a duplicitous person.

Part of the Demi-human or [[LittleBitBeastly "Beastkin"]] race (a squirrel, to be specific) and friend of Noel Vermillion since their Military Academy days. Nowadays she works at the NOL's intelligence unit under Hazama; however, she's also a double agent for Sector Seven. A friendly and energetic person at heart, she does everything she can to support her dearest friends. Don't let her goofy demeanor fool you: [[BunnyEarsLawyer Makoto is a surprisingly perceptive and competent soldier]], and definitely a lot smarter than she lets on.\

As a Demi-human, she has high natural strength, and her ability "Impact" enhances it even further, allowing her to throw out devastating, bone-breaking punches no matter how tough the opponent is.\

Makoto's playstyle is all about aggression. She has very few options for fighting at any range other than very close, but when she gets in there are few who can tangle with her. She can close in quickly, but as she retains a simplified version of the Impact charge mechanic from her home game, a sense of timing is important to ensure maximum damage is inflicted.\

Her Distortion Skills are '''Big Bang Smash''', which summons a giant fist to punch her opponents across the room; and '''Particle Flare''', a series of punches that knocks her opponent into the air, then back down to earth. Her Astral Heat, '''Planet Crusher''', propels her forward with a dashing gut punch, followed by some RapidFireFisticuffs that would make [[Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar Kenshiro]] and [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure Jotaro]] proud, and finally [[MegatonPunch uppercutting]] her opponent all the way to the Moon causing it to [[DetonationMoon break apart into several pieces]].
----
* ATwinkleInTheSky: Her Astral Heat causes the opponent to become this.
* BigEater: Has a HyperactiveMetabolism and an appetite for meat that would make Chie proud.
* BookDumb: She isn't really good when it comes to school grades and elaborate strategies. She's StreetSmart instead, to compensate that.
* BornUnlucky: Her luck stat is a paltry two stars, and she has had to deal with both FantasticRacism due to being a demi-human and watching misfortune befall her best friends.
* BoxingBattler: Fights primarily with boxing style.
* CloseRangeCombatant: Has among the smallest effective attack range of all characters. That said, she's also got plenty of ways to get close, and her damage potential is fairly high.
* ChargedAttack: Her Impact is basically charged punches that becomes more powerful if you time the charge right.
* ConfusionFu: Her bread-and-butter gap closer, [[DoppelgangerSpin Asteroid Vision]], splits her into three copies for a moment with no tell which one is real. The grounded version also has a broad combo path with a combination of traits and immunities, giving her good mix-up as she closes.
* CuteBruiser: So cute and cuddly and so capable of wrecking people's bodies.
* DoppelgangerSpin: Her Asteroid Vision special move has her create 2 illusionary copies of herself that moves to different directions (including to the air). It can then be continued with a RapidfireFisticuffs, a MegatonPunch or (if she goes to the air) a powerful downward punch.
* EnergyBall: Her Comet Cannon has her deploy a stationary ball of energy. She can then punch it forward to turn it into a projectile.
* FantasticRacism: As a Demi-human, she suffered a lot of prejudice growing up. She and Blake actually bond over their past woes with racial prejudice during ''Episode Under Night In-birth''.
* {{Foil}}:
** Makoto Nanaya and Chie Satonaka are both [[CuteBruiser cute]], [[BoisterousBruiser rowdy]], and prefer fighting at close range, but while Makoto primarily uses punches, Chie primarily uses kicks. It turns out that the two girls get along very well together if placed on a team.
** Makoto also is a mirror to Blake, as they're both [[LittleBitBeastly half-human, half-animal girls]] who are defined by how they coped with the FantasticRacism that dominated their lives before they went off to the academies. Blake is a quiet, intelligent introvert while Makoto is fun-loving, outgoing and scatterbrained.
%%* FunPersonified: Who ''wouldn't'' want to hang out with Makoto?
* HereWeGoAgain: She thinks this during Tager's lecture in the post-combat commentary.
* IdiotHair: She's got 2 of 'em. [[ObfuscatingStupidity And she's not exactly an idiot.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Alexandrite''. She also has ''[=Sector7=]'' when teamed up with Tager.
* LightningBruiser: She moves fast, hits very hard and has surprisingly high resilience, but her reach is extremely short.
* LittleBitBeastly: Part of the beastkin race's [[ArtificialHuman demi-human line]], she, in particular, gets the ears and tail of a squirrel. Her inhuman heritage meant she was singled out and bullied and it led to a rough upbringing - notice she has a Luck stat of only 2 stars?
* MegatonPunch: One of her supers creates a giant fist that punches the opponent across the screen. At full power and during Resonance Blaze, the fist stretches the near entire length of the screen.
* MsFanservice: Probably the single biggest example in the ''[=BlazBlue=]'' franchise.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Looks as scrawny as a late-teenage girl but much stronger than she looks. At least she's got the breasts to match.
* NiceGirl: Makoto is perky, funny and hasn't a single mean bone in her body. Of course, you should still BewareTheNiceOnes. She's nice enough to be kind to Yosuke, despite his cemented status as ''the'' ButtMonkey, and she even tries to rehabilitate [[{{Jerkass}} Carmine]], not that he wants any of it...
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Makoto is a ''lot'' more intelligent than she seems. You wouldn't be able to play the world's two largest and most powerful organizations off against each other if you weren't. In ''Episode Under Night In-Birth'', she can immediately identify Blake as a "beastkin", and from Blake's attempt to disguise herself, she correctly deduces that Blake's people are treated as second-class citizens in her world as well.
* ShapingYourAttacks: Her Big Bang Smash and Particle Flare Distortion Skills have her fist being covered by a giant hand-shaped aura (the latter only in the last part of the move) as she punches the opponent.
* {{Shoryuken}}: Her Reversal Action, Corona Upper. Can be continued with Meteor Dive, a downward punch move.
* {{Shotoclone}}: Has a projectile (Comet Cannon -> Break Shot), a rising attack (Corona Upper), and a forward-moving attack (Cosmic Ray).
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Her choice of clothes ({{Underboobs}}-showing top, short skirt with obvious thong straps) screams this.
* SuperStrength: Her phenomenal strength lets her do really powerful attacks.
* TailSlap: Her normal grab move has her slapping her foe's face with her tail. Her aerial C move is her simply dropping downward tail-first (that also acts as a cushion).
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Fittingly for a squirrel girl, she loves nuts. Especially chestnut parfaits.
* UnblockableAttack: Her Sirius Jolt (EX) special move is an unblockable dashing punch attack.

Captured to be used as a weapon by the organization "Sector Seven" whose creed is to improve the world through science, opposing the NOL's creed to improve the world through Ars Magus. Azrael couldn't care less about any of that, though. He lives for one purpose only: the thrill of fighting strong opponents. [[TheDreaded Feared far and wide as "The Mad Dog", "Deathbringer"]] [[IHaveManyNames and many more]], Azrael's physical strength is nigh-impossible to gauge. He is so powerful that, without the use of any Ars Magus enhancements, he can fight on even ground with some of the strongest beings in the world, such as the Six Heroes. Not helping matters is his extremely violent temperament. Once he gets worked up, he becomes a rampaging beast who will attack anyone in sight, ally and enemy alike. No one is safe when this man decides to "devour" his prey. Because of his insatiable bloodlust, Azrael has purposefully limited his own strength using a seal called "Enchant Dragunov" to give his opponents a fighting chance: by not dying too quickly.\

Azrael's fighting style reflects how proud he is of his own power. He does not use weapons and prefers to let his own body do the talking, with unrefined but extremely dangerous and brutal attacks.\

Azrael is an aggressive close-range fighter feared in his home series for his ability to inflict heavy damage with only a few combos, and in Cross Tag Battle this is no different. His Growler Field is also a solid anti-projectile move. However even Azrael has his weaknesses: he has a big body and a slow walk speed, and his short-range teleport dash can be tricky to use.\

His Distortion Skills are '''Black Hawk Stinger''', a fast-moving lariat that blows his opponent across the arena; and '''Full Spartan''', a devastating series of blows and kicks ending in sending his opponent crashing into the ground. His Astral Heat, '''Patriot Apocalypse''', involves punching the opponent into a slab of ground, which he promptly tosses high into the sky. He then releases his limiters and as the opponent falls to the ground, he raises his fist to the sky, the resulting collision causing a massive volcanic eruption that completely disintegrates the slab of ground with the opponent on it. Azrael then exposes his bareback to the screen and laughs maniacally as the dust settles.
----
* AxCrazy: Azrael will fight anybody for the hell of it, he toys with his victims and inflicts bone-crushing blows. Most of ''[=BlazBlue=]'''s cast avoid him like the plague.
* BadassNormal: No Nox Nyctores, no weapon, and no magic. Just power so inhumanly nightmarish even the strongest ''[=BlazBlue=]'' characters would rather run for it than fight him if they can help it. And that's even before lifting his limiters.
* BareFistedMonk: Compared to other characters from his series, Azrael doesn't fight with any weapons, instead using his overwhelming physical prowess to fight.
* BerserkButton: Azrael gets particularly riled up if his teammate implies interest in {{kill steal}}ing him. He and Waldstein break out into an argument for this very reason.
* TheBerserker: Azrael is a [[TheJuggernaut juggernaut]] of a BloodKnight, and as shown in ''Episode Under Night In-Birth'', System is unable to restrain him from violating the tag-team-only rule, failing to stop him from attacking Weiss who herself cannot fight back because of the rule. That's right, [[MightMakesRight Azrael is so strong that he can screw the rules]]!
* BloodKnight: His generic intro has him saying he'd rather be by himself taking on the other three. In fact, the thought of taking on champions from other worlds is nothing less than an ''all-you-can-eat buffet'' for him.
* BarbarianLonghair: Has long, flowing unkempt blue hair which denotes his savage nature.
* BattleAura: Weaponized with his Growler special. It can [[EnergyAbsorption absorb projectiles]], which lets him retaliate with a projectile of his own.
* CoatCape: He wears his white coat like a cape. He sometimes takes it off to [[ClothingCombat smack the opponent with it]].
* DeadlyEuphemism: Azrael doesn't kill or maim people, he ''" devours"'' them. He uses food metaphors to describe fights. He seems to think everyone else does this too, [[ComicallyMissingThePoint and, as a result, thinks because of Chie's embarrassing title that she must be even stronger than he is]].
* DishingOutDirt: Hurls out a slab of rock during one of his attacks.
* DivingKick: One of his aerial moves is to dive down with a kick.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Hard to tell if it's an {{innocent innuendo}}, given his violence is physical rather than sexual, but in his post-combat commentary with Chie, he talks about how well she "tenderized the meat". Chie wants nothing more to do with him afterwards.
-->'''Chie:''' Why does it sound so ''gross'' when you talk about me tenderizing meat!? [[TakeThat Eww, stay away from me, pervert!]]
* TheDreaded: His BloodKnight tendencies as well as him being very powerful made him this. Even fighters from ''other'' worlds generally find fighting him a death wish.
* FashionableAsymmetry: His pants have only one chap covering it.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: His fighting style is a particularly savage and brutal version.
* GroundPound: His Sentinel Dump special has him leaping onto his opponent to smash them from above.
* HeroicBuild: The man is ''absolutely ripped''. Although he's obviously far from the modern definition of heroic.
* IHaveManyNames: [[RedBaron The Mad Dog of Sector Seven]], Massacre King, [[FinalSolution The Genocider]], The Deathbringer, The King of Atrocity, The Tyrant, [[OmnicidalManiac Destroyer]], Cannibal, Murderer. [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast You can start running now.]]
* ImplacableMan: In Episode Extra, Azrael goes out of his way to hunt down and devour [[BloodyMurder Naoto Kurogane]], forcing 3 confrontations with him since Naoto kept retreating. Even being defeated in the third fight only made Azrael decide to [[IAmNotLeftHanded take the gloves off and release Enchant Dragnov]], forcing Adachi to hold him back so that Naoto can clear the game.
* LauncherMove: Aside from his crouching B, there's his Hornet Bunker that sends the enemy high and away. It can be continued with Hornet Chaser, where he jumps up to follow with multiple aerial attacks.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''The Tyrant''.
* LightningBruiser: Played with. His Speed rating is only 2 stars with his movement options being a slow walk and his dash, which is a short distance teleport. But he can be surprisingly quick when he starts attacking, with him potentially flying around as much as his opponent. Just look at how quickly he moves when he lands his Full Spartan Distortion Skill.
* MadeOfIron: Besides his disgustingly high power, the other thing that makes Azrael scary is his equally high durability. Even attacks from the strongest characters in his home universe seem to do ''nothing'' to him. Azrael is more likely to tire out before you beat him into submission. In-game, his vitality is set to 18,000 HP which is the second-highest health tier.
* MegatonPunch: His Black Hawk Stinger DS is a simple but powerful haymaker.
* PowerLimiter: His [[PowerTattoo tattoos]], called Enchant Dragunov, serves this purpose. In the Extra story mode, he unleashes 2 levels of his seal after Naoto and Adachi defeated him.
* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: His Valiant Crush (EX) special move is a powerful kick that sends the enemy to the opposite wall. It can be continued with Valiant Charger, a dash move where he can continue beating the enemy against the wall with normal/special moves.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Has red eyes and is a dangerous fighter.
* ThreeStrikeCombo: Tiger Magnum can be followed up by Cobra Strike and Leopard Launcher. His Full Spartan Distortion Skill is also a simple three-hit combo, being basically a bigger version of the aforementioned attacks.
* UnskilledButStrong: His fighting style has no technique, and relies solely on throwing his power around. While some things he says and does seem to suggest he could easily apply the skill to supplement that strength, with that much power, it's practically unneeded in most situations and would probably make things less fun for him.
* UseYourHead: One of his normal attacks is a simple headbutt.
* VillainRespect: Mistakes Chie for a "carnivore" like him and surprisingly treats her with a lot of respect - per his standards, of course. The young lady wants no part of it whatsoever, though.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He wears no shirt under his CoatCape, which is lampshaded by Hyde who describes Azrael as half-naked.
* WillfullyWeak: Uses Enchant Dragunov to limit his great strength and make fights last longer. The extent to which it locks his power comes in eight levels because by his own admission if he was to lift all of them at once his opponents tend to die far too quickly and that's just no fun for him.
* WorthyOpponent: Still considers Ragna as someone who could provide him with a good fight as per his win quote if they're teamed up.
-->'''Azrael:''' Now, it's time for the main course. You better leave me satisfied, Grim Reaper...!

-->''If this is one of the "possibilities", then I shall perform my duty to the fullest.''\

Es was the main heroine of the ''VisualNovel/XBlaze'' series, set in a different world from the ''[=BlazBlue=]'' one, although they're connected by the Boundary and the Azure. Her ''[=BlazBlue=]'' incarnation serves as the guardian of the Azure Gate, the gate that leads to the Azure, the source of ultimate power. There, she's looking for the "Man of the Azure" who has the right of taking the Azure and will protect the gate against anybody else who tries to get close. Es is enigmatic and rarely shows any emotion, behaving and speaking more like a robot than a girl due to being devoted to her singular purpose as guardian of the realm of the gods, but she still has a soft spot for pudding...\

She utilizes the power of the Azure itself, and comes armed with a powerful weapon of her original world, the Signati Gladio Crystalis: Murakumo, which can absorb seithr (a power source that fills the air and from which the entire world is made) to empower itself; the big blade is actually a sheath that seals Murakumo's true form. Her Crest Arts ability lets her create "crests" in the air with her blade that will harm enemies.\

Es is a more passive character with solid reach and moderately fast movement, making her good at controlling the flow of the fight. She has good projectile attacks and can shift gears to suit either a rushdown or zoner playstyle on the fly. She has few clear weaknesses, but she can be susceptible to counters and reversals due to conspicuous openings in her strings of attacks and relatively slow windup.\

Her Distortion Skills are '''Type: Shooter "Palamedes"''', which sends a duo of sword waves across the screen; and '''Type: Slasher "Galahad"''', a full-screen sword strike. Her Astral Heat, '''Type: Exterminator "Artorius"''', has her knocking the opponent into the air as she unseals her blade to reveal the original Murakumo[[note]]the one from her own series, not the one used by the Murakumo Units[[/note]]. She then leaps after the opponent and slashes them three more times. On the third and final slash, she performs a diagonal slash that shatters the opponent like glass.
----
* BadassAdorable: Petite and cute, but also commands vast amounts of power. Her "Kawaii" stat lampshades this.
* {{BFS}}: Her sword is longer than she is tall. [[TheKnightsWhoSaySquee Ruby, of course, loves it]].
* BraidsOfAction: She puts her hair in a braid, and she's definitely about to throw down.
* DashAttack:
** She has a simple dashing shoulder check attack that can knock away airborne enemies.
** Her Type: Slasher "Mordred" special has her dash forward a bit, then performs 2 slashes, the second one knocking up.
** Her Type: Slasher "Galahad" Distortion Skill has her dash a longer distance while being covered in energy. If she hits, then she rushes through her opponent with her blade.
* ElegantGothicLolita: Less than Rachel, but it's still there.
* {{Flanderization}}: Continuing off of this happening in ''Central Fiction'' compared to her VisualNovel/XBlaze incarnation, Es is reduced to speaking four types of lines. RoboSpeak about entering or exiting battle, asking others if they want the Azure, having what appears to be WistfulAmnesia about her loved ones from her home series that triggers on mentions of camaraderie or bonds and talking about her love of [[TrademarkFavoriteFood pudding]].
* FoodAsBribe: In one of the endings of ''Episode [=BlazBlue=]'', [[spoiler:it is revealed that she was working with Rachel to solve the whole incident in exchange for a boatload of pudding.]]
* GrappleMove: Her Type: Assaulter "Erec" special is her leaping onto the opponent's head (like Noel's Muzzle Flitter), then does an upward kick if she connects.
* GuestFighter: Technically, she's representing ''VideoGame/BlazblueCentralFiction'', but she really hails from the VisualNovel SpinOff ''VisualNovel/XBlaze'' series, which is set [[OlderThanTheyLook 150 years before]] the main ''Blazblue'' series (and is set in a [[AlternateTimeline different timeline]] to boot.)
* IdiotHair: She's got a large one in the shape of a question mark.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''conciliation''. She also has ''End Gazer'' when teamed up with Nine.
* LittleNo: In her team outro with Ruby.
-->'''Ruby:''' Oh, please? Can I see your sword? Just for a little bit?\
'''Es:''' No.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: Among the shortest members of the cast, but is very powerful with the deceptively long reach of her sword attacks.
* ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming: Her special moves and Distortion Skills are named after characters of Myth/ArthurianLegend.
* RoboSpeak: Es talks very much like a machine most of the time, especially when engaged in combat.
* RuleOfFunny: It hasn't been explained yet, and probably never will be, how she knows what a Junes Department Store is, but that doesn't stop her from accidentally roasting [[ButtMonkey Yosuke]] about it.
* SexyBacklessOutfit: It's hard to see normally, but her outfit bares her back. She turns it to the camera in some of her win poses.
* {{Shotoclone}}: She has a projectile special move, a {{Shoryuken}} move (Griflet), and a rush-forward move (Mordred).
* SubBoss: She serves as this for all four episodes, using a copy of the protagonist of said episode as her tag partner.
* SwordBeam: Her Type: Shooter "Palamedes" Distortion Skill has her shoot a large crescent beam from her sword that [[BlownAcrossTheRoom carries the foe away]]. Her Type: Shooter "Breunor" special is a smaller version of this but can be fired twice in a row to compensate. She can also overlap the two smaller beams into a stronger one as well.
* SwordLines: Her Crest Arts weaponizes this, where she can create [[SpikesOfDoom energy spikes]] out of the lines she traces with her sword.
* TheStoic: Es never emotes. Ever. Not only does she speak like a robot but she behaves a lot like one too. This reflects her nature as a [[ArtificialHuman Prime Field Interference Manifestation]], which is similar to the likes of Nu-13[[note]]While both forms of Prime Fields, Nu is a Boundary Interface Prime Field Device, which were developed differently and have different properties and purposes[[/note]] [[spoiler:and Noel.]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Her response to Ruby asking if she considers her sword to be a part of her she can't live without, [[CompanionCube like Ruby does with her Crescent Rose]], is to mention that she feels that way more over pudding.

-->Sena: ''Y-You think...?''\

A young girl from Ibukido, who follows Jubei around as a disciple of sorts. Despite her cutesy outward appearance, Platinum the Trinity houses more than one soul inside her. Normally, she switches between two: a rude loud-mouth girl named Luna and a quiet and meek boy named Sena. Their body also houses a third one, that of Trinity Glassfille, a mage and one of the Six Heroes of legend who were responsible for the defeat of the Black Beast. Trinity's personality will only awaken within dire situations for a small amount of time, with Luna and Sena unaware of her presence.\

Platinum is one of the few individuals in her universe to wield a Nox Nyctores; in this case, it was Trinity's old weapon - the Muchourin. This big wand-like staff was meant to compliment her skills in magic for both offensive and defensive purposes and can conjure up forms of matter, albeit at the risk of Platinum losing her memories for the time being.\

Platinum is a fairly versatile mid-range character who can rushdown or zone pretty well. Unlike in her home game, her bombs and missiles are no longer random (though as assists they are), so she has a bit more reliability at range. Perhaps most of all, her unusual attacks make her difficult to read.\

Her Distortion Skills are '''Cure Dot Typhoon''', a rapid-hitting spinning strike with her staff; and '''Miracle Jeanne''', a power-up that temporarily increases the lethality of her special attacks. Her Astral Heat, '''Shining Layered Force''', stuns the enemy with a laser beam from her staff before the combined might of Luna, Sena, and Trinity call upon a massive laser that obliterates her victim.
----
* ACupAngst: Just like in her home universe, Luna harbors great jealousy over the assets of big-breasted women. This is best shown in [[https://youtu.be/eKzWJeYf6J0?t=1m2s her interactions with Es]], where she is envious of the latter's breast size despite both of them being the same height.
* BatterUp: She can turn her Muchourin into a studded bat as her Reversal Action.
* CarryABigStick: She can turn Muchourin into a big hammer in her standing C attack.
* CoolBoard: Her Mami Circular special turns her staff into a heart-shaped board that she uses to surf in the air.
* DownloadableContent: Part of the first pack, alongside Orie and Kanji, which was released on the game's launch date and was available for free during the first two weeks of release.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: As shown in her portrait, she has heart-patterned eyes.
* FightingClown: She has more comical elements in her animation and attacks than the other fighters.
* FryingPanOfDoom: One of Muchourin's forms is that of a frying pan that she uses to smack the enemy.
* {{Hypocrite}}:
** In ''Episode [=P4A=]'', Luna called the Investigation Team a bunch of "jackasses". [[{{Jerkass}} Not that she's any better]].
** In her intro with Weiss, Luna stated that she refuses to take orders from "flat-chested sidekicks". In a way, she serves as a sidekick towards Jubei thanks to him being her teacher in combat, and since she is in the body of a child, she doesn't really have a right to refuse to take orders from "flat-chested sidekicks".
* {{Jerkass}}: Luna is not a very nice girl, to be frank. Within ''Episode [=P4A=]'', she wanted to beat up the Investigation Team, calling them both boring jackasses and pedos and calls Kanji ugly. Doesn't apply to Trinity nor Sena though.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: Falling Melody has her stomp on a downed opponent with a pogo stick.
* LaserGuidedKarma: For all of Luna's {{Jerkass}} tendencies, she is hit by karma in ''Episode Under Night In-Birth'' where she is forced to eat the curry that she made with [[LethalChef Noel and Yukiko]].
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Active Angel''. She also has ''Six Heroes'' when teamed up with Hakumen, Hazama, Nine, or Jubei. It is worth noting however that in the main games; this was only the case in ''Chronophantasma'' and was removed in ''Central Fiction'' due to [[spoiler: Trinity being separated from Sena and Luna]].[[note]]However Trinity's spirit ''does'' appear during her and Hazama's special intro.[[/note]]
* MagicStaff: Her Nox Nyctores Muchourin, which can create or manipulate matter. She mainly uses this to [[MorphWeapon transform Muchourin into a variety of different weapons]].
* PetTheDog: If they win, she compliments ''[[ButtMonkey Yosuke]]'', of all people. And of course, she absolutely loves Jubei.
* RandomEffectSpell: Her 6P and 4P Partner Skills has her attack with her staff transforming into random weapons.
* SpinAttack: Her Cure Dot Typhoon Distortion Skill is this.
* SharingABody: She houses 3 different souls in her body. On that note, there's the fact that one of the souls inside of her [[MultiGenderedSplitPersonalities is male.]]
* StuffBlowingUp: She can make Muchourin shoot out either big missiles or bombs.
* SuperMode: Her Miracle Jeanne DS lets her upgrade Muchourin's weapon forms into stronger ones for a limited time.
* ThemeNaming: Her move names are taken from various MagicalGirl anime.

-->''Ya managed to keep up with me. Impressive, kid.''\

A legendary warrior was once known as Mitsuyoshi, the One-Eyed Lotus who fought as part of the Six Heroes. After defeating the Black Beast, Jubei married his comrade Nine and had a daughter: Kokonoe, who soon grew up to be a high ranking member of Sector Seven and an infamous SS-Class Criminal in her own right. The Kaka clan are genetically engineered weapons produced with his genetic material. When Terumi broke free from the mind control spell Nine had placed on him, Jubei began traveling the world to destroy the Cauldrons in the Hierarchical Cities to prevent his plans from being realized, a mission he would in turn pass to his apprentice, Ragna the Bloodedge.\

Still feared as the strongest being to ever exist, Jubei's prowess as a warrior never diminished in his old age. His Shiranui Drive marks opponents and allows him to attack from almost any direction; combined with his weapons - the Musashi, a pair of katanas that can cut through souls, dimensions and the fabric of reality itself - and his tremendous martial arts experience, anyone who dares underestimate him will meet their end in the blink of an eye.\

Jubei is very fast and very tricky. He can often avoid high attacks due to being quite low to the ground, and he has a good quick dash. His defense options leave a little to be desired, but in good hands, he is a very rewarding character to play.\

His Distortion Skills are '''Senju: Gou Setsura[[note]]lit. Thousand Hands: Booming Scene[[/note]]/Thousand Hands: Roaring Pillar''', a lightning-fast dashing attack where he slashes his opponent with both blades; and '''Niou: Kigantotsu[[note]]lit. Deva King: Mournful Shore Thrust[[/note]]/Twin Guardians: Mourning Stone''', an earth-bound slash. His Astral Heat, '''Asura: Hourai Burenshou[[note]]lit. Asura: Feng/Phoenix Thunder Martial Refined Soar[[/note]]/Asura: Thunderbird Rising''', has him uncover his right eye while drawing both of his blades, then attacking with a flurry of slashes that cuts his foe to pieces.
----
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: His Musashi Blades are described to be able to cut "what normally can't be cut".
* BadassAdorable: Practically overlaps with KillerRabbit in this case. This four feet tall, fuzzy and cute cat humanoid creature is ''the single strongest thing in the entire world of [=BlazBlue=]''. More than [[OneManArmy Ragna]], possibly more than ''[[TheJuggernaut Hakumen and Azrael]]''.
* BattleCouple: When put on a team with Nine.
* BouncingBattler: His Shiranui: Hagane move has him creating floating icons in the air, which he proceeds to bounce off of to hit the enemy between them.
* CutenessProximity: He was on the receiving end of this trope when Kanji really wanted to pet him in ''Episode [=P4A=]'' as well as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4o7yhVplkc his interactions with Kanji]].
* DeadlyLunge: His Shiranui move has him dashing through his opponent with a clawing attack. His Roaring Pillar DS is a stronger version of it, done with his swords.
* DownloadableContent: Part of the second pack, alongside Aegis and Carmine, which was released on June 19, 2018, alongside the third pack.
* TheDreaded: In ''Episode Under Night In-Birth'', he is the only opponent who Hyde is openly concerned about battling, and even before the fight ends in-story, Hyde expresses great frustration with the difficulty of the fight, another first for the Episode. Ultimately, Jubei forfeits the fight on behalf of his team to throw a wrench into System's plans, which explains how he could "lose" despite his opponents being clearly outmatched by him.
* DualWielding: His Musashi blades come in a pair.
* EyepatchOfPower: He had lost an eye in the past after a fight with a Black Beast remnant and got it replaced with a magical one, [[BadassTransplant which belonged to his brother]]. The eyepatch covers it.
* FunnyAnimal: His body is exactly like a cat's, just larger; he also stands on his hind legs.
* ILetYouWin: It's made very clear that this is how he 'loses' his fights in story. This is justified given that he is canonically one of (if not ''the'') most powerful individual in the story.
* InTheHood: His coat has a hood that covers his cat ears.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Stand Unrivaled''. He also has ''Six Heroes'' when teamed up with Hakumen, Hazama, Platinum, or Nine, and ''Reincarnation'' (which shuffles between itself and ''Six Heroes'') when teamed up with Nine (even though this wasn't a thing in ''Central Fiction'')
* TheMentor: How much of a badass is he? He's the one who taught Ragna how to fight and was Platinum's teacher as well. He also expresses interest in taking Jin on as another student but Jin wants no part of that.
* MultipleTailedBeast: Has 2 tails, being a nekomata.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: It's already been made clear that he nods to the historical samurai Yagyuu Juubei/Juubeh Mitsuyoshi, a famous one-eyed samurai known for dual wielding and his relations to Yagyuu Munenori as his son.
* NoRespectGuy: Most characters are not aware of Jubei's true power and treat him as just a cute creature, or otherwise with no particular reverence. The ''[=BlazBlue=]'' characters do treat him with a great deal of respect though, given that they know who he is.
* OldSoldier: He's over a century old at the start of ''Calamity Trigger'' although it's implied he's even older than that, but time has done nothing to diminish his physical capabilities.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: He's just over 4 feet tall and is considered the strongest being on the planet in the ''[=BlazBlue=]'' universe.
* RapidfireFisticuffs: More like Rapidfire Claws, but his Fissuring Slash special is him running forward while clawing multiple times, akin to a [[VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom Berserker Barrage]] [[ComicBook/{{Wolverine}} X]].
* ShonenHair: He has a ''very impressive'' mane of hair[=/=]fur under his hood.
* SternTeacher: His win dialogue when teamed up with Ragna essentially has him issue a failing grade on the Grim Reaper's combat performance and declare that they're starting training all over again from square one.
* TheUnfought: Played with. After battling him along with Platinum in ''Episode [=P4A=]'', he notes she can get another try later, which implies he really wasn't putting much into the fight (given how reluctant he was to fight anyway). In ''Episode Under Night In-Birth'', after his tag battle, the story acts as though he actually stopped the fight midway through, and his tag team is the only one who expresses concern about fighting. In both cases, it's shown that nobody actually gets to fight him seriously, which makes sense given he's canonically more powerful than almost everyone except for perhaps Hakumen. Even in Episode Extra, Naoto Kurogane and Yumi don't get the chance to fight him and Nine directly, they are forced into a ping-pong match instead.
* WolverineClaws: He can jut out big claws out of his sleeves.
* WorldsStrongestMan: In his home universe for certain. Jubei is so strong that even Terumi, ''[=BlazBlue=]'''s {{big bad}}, absolutely ''dreads'' the idea of having to fight him. Worth noting that when characters fight him in the story modes, he never really fights anyone seriously and his opponents still have a largely uphill fight.

-->''Behold... This is my pride.''\

A long time ago, the Black Beast destroyed Japan and ravaged the rest of the world, with even the world's military forces combined powerless to stop it. Just as all hope seemed lost, a mysterious white warrior named Hakumen emerged, followed by five champions; these six individuals became known as the Six Heroes. Together with humanity that they rallied, they slew the beast, but the white warrior then went missing. Decades later, Hakumen would be found by Jubei's daughter Kokonoe and he resumed his quest for justice and eradicating evil. Hakumen is an extremely stoic and focused individual but he can also be stone-hearted and even merciless towards any who stand in the way of his goals, whether they have bad intentions or not.\

Wielding the Nox Nyctores "Interfectum Malus: Ookami", a sword almost as long as he is tall which can negate Ars Magus and the Susano'o Unit's ability to cut through time itself and kill otherwise immortal beings, Hakumen is one of the most powerful beings in the ''[=BlazBlue=]'' world and rightly feared by many. His drive, Zanshin/God Slash, is a multi-purpose counter maneuver.\

Hakumen is an aggressive mid-range fighter with above-average HP and damage output, a lot of powerful defensive options and pretty good reach. He can nullify projectiles from zoner characters and even has ways of shutting down opponents' Supers. However his counters have to be used carefully as they can leave him vulnerable if mistimed, his ground mobility is quite poor, and he has no projectiles of his own.\

His Distortion Skills are '''Empty Sky Form: Summer's Advance''', a blade wave; and '''Empty Sky Form: Winter's Riposte''', a counterattack that strikes his opponent with a quick and decisive slash. In 2.0, he gains '''Empty Sky Secret: Heaven's Remains''', an aerial drop slash. His Astral Heat, '''Kokuujin Ougi: Akumetsu[[note]]lit. Empty Air Array Secret Skill: Evil Perish[[/note]]/Empty Sky True Form: Judgement of the Sword''', makes Hakumen assume a counter stance: any opponent foolish enough to strike him in this stance will get slashed countless times with his blade, destroying them completely[[note]]Hakumen can also perform the Astral during a combo to automatically activate it[[/note]].
----
* AntiHero: Hakumen is the ''de facto'' leader of the legendary Six Heroes who killed the Black Beast and saved the world. However, he's ''very'' arrogant and doesn't really like to associate with people unless it's needed. He also will not hesitate to cut down ''anybody'' he feels is a threat to the stability of the world.
--> '''Tager:''' Look at you, you're one of the Six Heroes, and you're threatening a child.
* AntiMagic: Basically what the [[{{BFS}} Ookami]] does. It's also worthy of note that wounds inflicted by Ookami are the one thing [[WoundThatWillNotHeal Ragna is unable to simply]] [[HealingFactor regenerate from]] with Soul Eater.
* BadassCreed: He's only said the very last part thus far in ''Cross Tag Battle'', but if you ever hear him recite it in full, it means he's about to lay the hurt down on you.
--> "I am the white void. I am the cold steel. I am the just sword. With blade in hand, I will reap the sins of this world, and cleanse it in the fires of destruction! I am Hakumen! ''The end has come!!''"
* BarrierWarrior: His Drive, Zanshin/God Slash, nullifies and [[CounterAttack counters]] an enemy attack if it hits. The deflector has a small active window that leaves Hakumen open to attack if the Drive is mistimed.
* {{BFS}}: His Ookami is about as tall as he is when sheathed, logically speaking he shouldn't even be able to draw it. However, its sheath actually has an opening on the side which allows the sword to clip through it, justifying how Hakumen can draw it without straining his arm.
* BloodKnight: Of the "Challenge Seeker" variety. Hakumen loves to pit his might and resolve against different {{Worthy Opponent}}s like Ragna and Terumi. Ruby can exploit this by luring him and Waldstein together; while the two giants are tussling, she grabs the Keystone from Tager and makes a break for it.
* BroughtDownToBadass: Hakumen is still one of the most powerful beings in the ''[=BlazBlue=]'' universe, rivaling his old partner Jubei, despite being limited to only 20-40% of his original power.
* DashAttack: His Guren (Crimson Lotus) special move is him dashing forward to hit the opponent with his blade's hilt.
* DifficultButAwesome: Hakumen has a Yukiko-grade "touch of death" combo while in Resonance Blaze, which the game itself shows you how to do as one of his combo challenges. [[SomeDexterityRequired Dexterity is very much required]] to pull it off, and it takes 9 meters to use, but it allows Hakumen to absolutely annihilate anyone that lets themselves get caught by it.
* DownloadableContent: Part of the third pack, alongside Naoto Shirogane and Vatista, which was released on June 19, 2018, alongside the second pack.
* EnemyMine: This happens if you team him up with Ragna, Hazama or Nu. ''Especially'' ''[[ItsPersonal Nu]]''.
* TheFaceless: Never seen without his helmet that covers his head. It's implied ''[[TheBlank he doesn't have a face under it]]''.
* GoodIsNotNice: See AntiHero.
* KnightTemplar: Hakumen is convinced that the only way to save the world is for him to eliminate all sources of evil. He is not open to alternatives, and willing to cut down anybody who stands in his path towards this goal.
* LagCancel: Somewhat like in his games, he can cancel his special moves into other special moves (including his EX specials), but doing so will require spending 1 super gauge each time.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''SUSANOOH''. He also has ''Black & White'' when teamed up with Ragna, ''Six Heroes'' when teamed up with Hazama, Platinum, Jubei or Nine, ''In Justice'' when teamed up with Izayoi, and ''God of War'' when teamed up with Susanoo.
* MyFutureSelfAndMe: [[spoiler:He's actually an alternate timeline version of Jin Kisaragi from a certain future, hence both of them sharing one technique (Yukikaze) done in different fashions, as well as [[SignificantDoubleCasting having the same voice actor(s)]].]]
* MightyGlacier: His obscenely high damage and reach combined with his limited mobility and use of the Zanshin/God Slash drive put him firmly in this classification. Similar to Waldstein, he has a slow walk and a manual hop.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: Hakumen is effectively a spirit piloting [[AnimatedArmor a robotic suit of samurai armor]].
* OldSoldier: He lead the Six Heroes during the Dark War, making him a century old.
* ParryingBullets: Can cut down projectiles with his sword, and create a void where the bullets were cut that blocks further projectiles.
* PetTheDog: As gruff and aloof as he is, he lends Weiss motivational advice, telling her to never doubt herself. He also respects [[NiceGuy Yu]]'s resolve to protect his friends, [[CallBack much in the same way he came to respect Bang's resolve to protect the innocent and seek justice]].
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Those red spots on his armor? They're [[EyesDoNotBelongThere fully functional eyes]] and quite possibly the only way Hakumen sees.
* SamuraiPonytail: Has long blue hair tied in a ponytail, fitting his samurai image.
* SingleStrokeBattle: Shares Jin's Yukikaze/Winter's Reposte (Snowy Wind) Distortion Skill. Notable in that it's the only time the same Distortion Skill is shared by two characters. [[spoiler: Because they're the same person, although from different timelines.]]
* SkewedPriorities: Despite everyone trying to find their way out of the Phantom Field, Hakumen still views killing Ragna as his top priority.
* SwordBeam: His Kokuujin: Shippuu DS has him doing a chopping motion with his sword which launches a very fast crescent beam on the ground.
* TalkingIsAFreeAction: Averted trope. In ''Episode [=RWBY=]'', he tried to do his entire "White Void" speech only for Waldstein to attack him during the middle of the speech.
* VideogameDashing: His Kishuu move is a command dash that can be continued with Enma, an uppercut move.

-->''Zero-Type Izayoi... Carrying out her mission!''\

Tsubaki Yayoi is a dear friend of Noel Vermilion and Makoto Nanaya who, in the pursuit of justice, took up the dangerous weapon known as "Zero Type: Izayoi", which threatened to steal her eyesight with prolonged use. Eventually, she came under the influence of dark forces that awakened Izayoi's true power and corrupted Tsubaki's good nature, transforming her into an instrument of the Novus Orbis Librarium and forcing her against her friends when they rebelled against the Imperator. With the help of Noel and her allies, however, she was able to break free of the Imperator's control and turned Izayoi's power against her true enemies.\

Izayoi is a rushdown character. She is all about getting in the opponent's face by covering the gap quickly and then using mixups and specials to keep the enemy guessing and on their guard. However her anti-air game isn't very good and her pokes, while they do their job, are outclassed by many other characters.\

Her Distortion Skills are '''Justice Phorizer''', a powerful stabbing attack; and '''Banish Lancer''', which traps her opponent as she assails them with slashing attacks. Her Astral Heat, '''Judge of Destiny''', transforms her weapon into a winged spear that runs her opponent through.
----
* ArtifactTitle: Her name was primarily a means to differentiate her from her powered down form from her home series. Since this is the only playable form of Tsubaki here, her name becomes a case of a NonIndicativeName.
* BattleCouple: When on a team with Jin [[spoiler: and Hakumen due to the latter being an alternate timeline version of the former.]]
* DownloadableContent: Part of the fourth pack, alongside Mitsuru and Merkava, which was released on August 6, 2018, alongside the fifth and sixth packs.
* {{Fangirl}}: As usual just like in her home series, her total admiration and love for [[SingleTargetSexuality Jin]] haven't changed in this game.
* ForGreatJustice: Her justice being defeating those she judges as evil.
* InterfaceSpoiler: Izayoi's inclusion in the roster was already hinted in light of her [[Creator/AsamiImai seiyuu]] using an Izayoi avatar in [=BBRadio=] (Bururaji) NEO. Due to the series being recorded using in-game assets or within the lobby itself, this ends up being a huge indicator that Izayoi would eventually be joining the roster even without awareness of the data-mined leaks.
* KnightTemplar: Even more than Orie, only believes in punishing all that is evil and doesn't care how violently she goes about it.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Justice Sword''. She also has ''In Justice'' when teamed up with Hakumen.
* MoralityPet: One of the few to [[LoveInterest Jin]]. Predictably.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Tsubaki's eye color is usually blue, but they turn red when she transforms into Izayoi.
* ShipTease: With [[LoveInterest Jin]], as expected. Her single greatest wish in her home series to fight by his side and assist him has ''finally'' been fulfilled in this game. Their interactions in-game are pretty sweet, too.
* SingleTargetSexuality: She only has the hots for Jin, and ''only'' Jin. She's pretty much neutral (albeit friendly) to every other male combatant in this game if she's teamed up with them.
* SuperMode: This is the powered-up version of her weapon from her home series.

-->''It's okay. I'm sure we can do this!''\

The protagonist of the manga spin-off ''Manga/BlazblueRemixHeart''. Born a male named Mai Hazuki, she was the young heir to the prestigious Hazuki family. One day, she had an encounter with a grimoire that permanently transformed her into a girl. She would later go on to attend the Torifune Military Academy, along with Noel Vermillion, Makoto Nanaya, and Tsubaki Yayoi, and went on several adventurers that saw her cross paths with other notable figures, from a young Ragna to the devious Relius Clover. Mai is cheerful and has a positive outlook on life in spite of her situation, sincerely caring towards others and loyally protective of her friends.\

Mai is a nice, well-rounded character who can suit beginners or experts, and offensive or defensive styles with her many options for close, mid and long-range. She can poke with normals that have good reach and move across the screen decently quickly. That said, she doesn't have the strongest mixup game.\

Her Distortion Skills are '''Sylvan Hurricane Assault''', an overhead diving attack; and '''Floral Blizzard Blossom''', a lunging attack. Her Astral Heat, '''Royal Crimson Sprout: New Moon Lotus''', launches her opponent into the air. She then jumps up high above them before tossing her spear back down at them, creating a massive explosion and a crater at the point of impact.
----
* AlwaysAccurateAttack: Throwing her Gallia Sphyra will always track the opponent's position no matter where they are on screen.
* DownloadableContent: Part of the fifth pack, alongside Akihiko and Yuzuriha, which was released on August 6, 2018, alongside the fourth and sixth packs.
* GenderBender: Was born a guy, but got permanently turned into a girl before her time in the Military Academy and eventually learned to get used to being one. A few of her special interactions play with this:
** Mai still notes that she still moves like a guy in her win screen quote with Mitsuru.
** Hyde refuses to let her take point on their team based on her gender, only for Mai to mentally remark that the issue with it is a can of worms she isn't willing to open.
** Merkava can sense that her body and soul (her physical gender and what she was born as) are still in conflict with each other. She denies this, however, stating she's comfortable with who she is.
* HiddenDepths: In spite of having [[SecondLawOfGenderBending accepted her new identity]], Mai's interactions with Merkava heavily imply she still misses her male form to some extent: Merkava notes that her body (representing her physical gender) and soul (representing the gender she was born as) are still in conflict with each other - while Mai quickly denies this, her voice dips into the lower, rougher tone she had before she accepted herself.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Variable Heart''
* MoralityPet: She is definitely this to [[HiddenHeartOfGold Jin]], and one of the few. He even compliments her in this game and she sweetly returns the favor.
* MsFanservice: As usual, she's a huge source of eye candy.
* MythologyGag: She actually gets ''healed'' if she eats the Mystery Food X that Teddie throws out, as she tastes the feelings of the chef as opposed to the ingredients of the food. Like Noel, Yukiko pours her heart into her cooking, so Mai loves it all the same.
* NiceGirl:
-->'''Mai:''' Mind if I go first? I'm really glad to have you on my team, by the way!
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Anything made by ''[[LethalChef Noel]]''.
* VocalEvolution: In the ''Remix Heart Gaiden'' story of ''Chronophantasma'', Sheh used a lower-pitched, rougher tone for Mai, while Mai's voice here is now higher in pitch and is a little more feminine. Justified, as ''Remix Heart'' took place before Mai came to accept her new circumstances, and she's now been living as a woman for several years. However, whenever reminded of her male origins (seen in her interactions with Mitsuru, Hyde and Merkava), she reverts back to her lower boyish tone.

-->''You poor thing...''\

Born Konoe Ayatsuki Mercury, Nine the Phantom was one of the Six Heroes who saved the world from the Black Beast, alongside her lover Jubei and the eventual traitor Yuuki Terumi. With Jubei, she had a demi-human daughter named Kokonoe, who would go on to become a scientist for Sector Seven and a wanted criminal. After the Black Beast was laid low, she discovered that Terumi had evil intentions for the world and was murdered for her trouble, only to later be resurrected as a Phantom under the thrall of the evil Hades: Izanami.\

Blazblue's very own mistress of magic is a tricky zoner with a lot of damage potential and variety, though less than in her home series. She can be a dominating force from the other side of the screen even, but she's not given to crossing it quickly and her normals are quite slow as well - so she can face problems in exchanging with a foe in mid. In skilled hands though, this witch can grind nearly anyone under her heel.\

Her Distortion Skills are '''Flame Punisher''', which [[KamehameHadouken fires a stream of dark flames]], and '''Azurite Inferno''', which crucifies her opponent on crosses before pelting them with fireballs. Her Partner Distortion Skill is '''Cardinal Nova''' which creates a localized explosion in front of her. Her Astral Heat, '''Colorless Void''', traps her opponent in a fiery magical sigil before she bombards them with meteors that reduce the battlefield to nothing more than a burning wasteland.
----
* ActionMom: She and Jubei are the parents of Blazblue's Kokonoe, and both kick some major behind. While Kokonoe isn't in the game as of the 2.0 update, Nine does mention her during Episode Extra, when looking through gift shop souvenirs for something her daughter would like.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: While Nine is still far from nice, her overall demeanor in this game is miles more positive than her hate-filled and vengeful self in ''Central Fiction''. In a lot of her quotes and special interactions, while Nine still retains her characterization as a proud and haughty sorceress, her exchanges with various characters have a much more friendly if not playful vibe to them. More importantly, she is more openly affectionate towards her husband Jubei, and to a lesser extent the rest of her fellow Six Heroes.
* BattleCouple: When put on a team with Jubei.
* BigSisterInstinct: PlayedForLaughs in her pre- and post-battle interactions with Celica, where she's comically overprotective and clingy.
* BoobsAndButtPose: Her character art.
* ChargeMeter: Her Element meter, which fills as she lands attacks (blocked or not, it doesn't matter). As it fills, her specials change and her smart combos hit harder. Her supers are more powerful with more charge but consume the meter.
* CompositeCharacter: Nine has the corrupted look after the resurrection by Terumi and Hades Izanami, but she doesn't express any desire to destroy and recreate the world as per her ''Central Fiction'' version. Here, she behaves based on her earlier characterization as a proud, haughty sorceress.
* DownloadableContent: Part of the sixth pack, alongside Labrys and Mika, which was released on August 6, 2018, alongside the fourth and fifth packs.
* FlashStep: Instead of sidestepping, she does a short-range teleport. It's slower than normal but she's invincible in the middle of it and can chain two together.
* {{Foil}}:
** As discussed in [[Characters/BlazBlueCentralFiction her folder]] in the main games, she's one to Ragna.
** Possibly due to her being a foil to Ragna, she's also one to Yang. In fact, she has ''more'' similarities to Yang than Ragna does; they're both protective older sisters to EndearinglyDorky younger sisters, who they essentially had to raise after their mothers died and their fathers were emotionally and physically absent. [[spoiler: Their respective families are even heavily tied to the magic of their settings]]. Nine was even introduced in ''Chronophantasma'' physically attacking Ragna before resorting to magic, threatening him with fire, Yang is a primarily martial combatant with heavy associations to fire. The difference is that Yang has no real motivations with her life at present while Nine has big plans, and she isn't as extreme (or even as hot-tempered) as Nine is.
* GlassCannon: Nine has tremendous reach, hits like a truck, and hits harder the more pressure she applies. But while she still has 17,000 HP (about average), she completely lacks a "get off me" move, her tele-dash has stationary startup frames, and her only defensive tools are those common to everyone. As a result, she completely crumples to close-range rushdown, especially without a partner for a defensive switch.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Walpurgisnacht''. She also has ''End Gazer'' when teamed up with Es, ''Six Heroes'' when teamed up with Hakumen, Hazama, Platinum, or Jubei, and ''Reincarnation'' (which shuffles between itself and ''Six Heroes'') when teamed up with Jubei (even though this wasn't a thing in ''Central Fiction'') or Celica.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: The arrogant and prideful sorceress with a variety of damaging, long-range fire spells.
* LongRangeFighter: She has amazing reach with even her standard attacks, giving her massive zoning potential, but she's [[GlassCannon particularly fragile]] up close.
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: Despite being simplified like most of the cast, Nine is still likely the most mechanically complex fighter on the roster. Her specials change completely as a unique resource gauge fills up, the power of her supers varies depending on the same, and she has different mobility options than most of the cast (notable when CTB standardized movement for a lot of ''[=BlazBlue=]'' characters).
* MsFanservice: {{Stripperiffic}} outfit, large breasts that jiggle a lot, and you can even see some panty shots in a few of her animations.
* PlayingWithFire: She can use various elements, but fire is by far her preferred choice as most of her attacks are coated in flames or related to them in some way.
* SickeninglySweethearts: Surprisingly enough, this is what Nine is with Jubei if Episode Extra is any indication.
* TookALevelInKindness: Most of her special interactions indicate that Nine is much happier and more relaxed, if not a little bit sassy. Compare that to when we last saw her in ''Central Fiction'' where she was nothing but an angry, vengeful mess.

-->''Man, what's with this world? Just when I think it can't get any crazier, it does!''\

While his Drive and appearance bring to mind a certain outlaw almost to a fault, Naoto Kurogane actually hails from an alternate timeline originally once separated from the one Ragna the Bloodedge does his adventuring and fighting in. By most accounts, he may seem like an ordinary high school student, but that hides the fact that he possesses the Eye of the Hunter, an artifact that allows him to see the value of a person's life force. After gaining more unique abilities, he became the servant of Raquel Alucard - his own universe's counterpart to Rachel, even more so considering how many of those abilities were due to Raquel bequeathing them to him after his first death. When she mysteriously goes missing, Naoto accidentally winds up in the prime timeline - one in which he is dead - due to shenanigans that threaten to affect his own as well, leading to his attempts to survive whatever his new world has in store for him.\

Naoto's Drive is called '''Bloodedge''', which literally speaks volumes about his fighting style. While he's primarily a hand-to-hand brawler akin to a boxer, he can also manifest his blood to create weapons. All of these stem from his right arm, a uniquely enhanced limb from Clavis Alucard, Rachel and Raquel's father.\

Naoto is a rushdown character who offers a lot of close-range options and solo damage potential, with a few tools for reaching into mid as well though these tend to be charge attacks. He is very reliant on cancels to get optimal damage out of his combos.\

His Distortion Skills are '''Divine Smasher''', a powerful, dashing punch powered by his own blood which can be used from the ground or air; and '''Divine Reaper''' when Naoto summons a large-headed monstrosity that resembles Ragna's Dead Spike move; if Naoto uses this move close enough to his opponent, he'll perform a follow-up elbow strike to his opponent. His Partner Distortion Skill is '''Grim of Phantom''', where Naoto strikes his opponent before brandishing a large ax made of blood down on his opponent. His Astral Heat is '''Edge of Eternity''', Naoto strikes his opponent with a sword of blood and continuously cuts away at his opponent with a blood-made scythe before destroying them completely.
----
* ArtificialLimbs: His right arm is made out of Raquel Alucard's blood. His left arm and right leg are mechanical replacements made by Relius Clover after he lost those limbs during his confrontation with Spinner Superior in ''Bloodedge Experience''.
* ADayInTheLimelight: He gets to be the main protagonist of Episode Extra.
* BloodyMurder: His Drive: Bloodedge, allows him to control and use his own blood as a deadly weapon, similar to how Ragna uses soul-sucking darkness through the Azure Grimoire.
* ButtMonkey: It appears that all of Ragna's bad luck went to Naoto in Episode Extra. The number of unfortunate events that happen to him are too many to list.
* CoolUncle: Due to his sister being the template for the Prime Field Devices, Naoto is technically this to [[spoiler:Ragna, Jin, and Noel.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: Given that he's comparable to both Ragna and Hyde, he snarks every chance he gets during ''Episode Extra'', and he's been through a lot of weird situations already to the point where he's just flat out done having to deal with what System has in store for the cast this time.
-->"Okay, yeah. Screw it. This is bullshit. There's gotta be some [[BuffySpeak non-stampy]] way to get home."
* DifficultButAwesome: Carries this over from ''Centralfiction''. Naoto's Enhancer special moves are reliant on dash canceling, so players who can push their dexterity to their absolute limits will be rewarded with a character who can legitimately wipe out the other side in two combos.
* IdenticalStranger: To Ragna, which is actually a plot point since because their existences are so similar they threaten to overwrite each other. Rachel uses this to her advantage to bypass the rules of the Phantom Field and transport Ragna over to Naoto's location '''because''' they are the same existence.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Jaeger''.
* MaleGaze: His interactions with Mai and Yumi focus on him trying to avoid looking at their... revealing outfits.
* MegatonPunch: His Divine Smasher Distortion Skill has him dashing forward with a powerful bloody punch.
* NiceGuy: Unless they're Ragna or Hazama, Naoto is nothing but supportive to his partners, even if he can't keep up with their quirks.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted. He shares the roster with another Naoto - the gun-slinging detective of ''Persona 4''.
* OnlySaneMan: In general, he finds a lot of the situations he gets into completely bizarre. He's confused about Teddie's very nature as a plush toy, is [[PleasePutSomeClothesOn noticeably uncomfortable]] about Mai and Yumi's [[{{Stripperific}} choice of attire]] and notes how unhealthy it likely is for Carmine to attack with his own blood.
* PleasePutSomeClothesOn: Is quite flustered at Mai and Yumi's outfits and in both instances, offers to lend them his jacket to cover up.
* PowerDyesYourHair: When using Bloodedge, which turns his hair white. It makes him almost a dead-ringer for Ragna. This translates to gameplay whenever he uses Resonance Blaze.
* {{Shotoclone}}: Though he's more of a [[VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters Kyo]] clone than anything; he's mainly a close-ranged fighter with his only long-ranged moves being Bloodedge.

-->''Right, I can do this! Shall we, Minerva?''\

Nine's younger sister, and the clone of the caretaker of Ragna, Jin, and their sister Saya. During the war against the Black Beast, Celica was a young student at the Mage's Guild Academy along with her sister and fellow hero, Trinity Glassfille. Because of her unique magic, she was to be used as the power source of Kushinada's Lynchpin, a device that could be used to stop the Black Beast. However, thanks to meeting a time-displaced Ragna, Nine was able to find another solution and spare Celica's life. Eventually, she would look after a much younger Ragna and his two siblings before meeting her untimely end at the hands of Yuuki Terumi during his attack on the Church where they all lived. In the main timeline, her niece Kokonoe would revive a younger version of her to be used against Terumi.\

Since Celica has no fighting skill at all, Minerva was invented to protect her. Celica is a simple and straightforward character, albeit with the ability to heal her own HP and enhance her special attacks.\

Her Distortion Skills are '''Saber Anglaise''' which has Minerva forming a big cannon to shoot a straight laser beam at her opponent and '''Casque Veloute''' which has Minerva deliver a quick, brutal beatdown if she manages to land her initial strike. Her Astral Heat is '''Atout Rilettes''', wherein she heals her opponent to full health, only for Minerva to transform into what appears to be a jet, fly into the sky at high speeds and ram into the opponent, shoving them off of the stage.
----
* AllLovingHero: On par with Noel for this. She can get along with almost anyone, and always wishes for peaceful or non-violent solutions to problems.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Her RobotBuddy Minerva gets along well with fellow RobotGirl Aigis.
* HealThyself: Her primary ability.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Crystal Forest''. She also has ''Reincarnation'' when teamed up with Nine and ''End Gazer'' when teamed up with Es.
* NiceGirl: Gentle, kind and helpful to practically everyone she meets, Celica is a strong contender to dethrone Ruby for the nicest girl in the game.
* NoSenseOfDirection: Perhaps Celica's greatest personal weakness... and a great source for comedy for the player.
-->'''Ragna:''' "I don't care. You just need to find someplace to hide. Whenever you wander around, things get messy and-- [[StealthHiBye HOW ARE YOU ALREADY GONE?]]"
* SchoolUniformsAreTheNewBlack: Her default attire is her magic school's student uniform.
* SiblingTeam: If teamed up with Nine.
* SpamAttack: Her Casque Veloute Distortion Skill has Minerva rushing towards the opponent. If it hits, then she proceeds to deliver such a brutal beatdown that the view is obscured, with only the aftermath being shown.
* ThemeNaming: All of her special attacks are named after a combination of food + various weapons, in GratuitousFrench.
* WaveMotionGun: Her Saber Anglaise Distortion Skill has Minerva form a big cannon to shoot a straight laser towards her opponent.

-->''Accept your fate, and perish.''\

Takehaya-Susano'o-no-Mikoto. The true identity of the malevolent entity known as Yuuki Terumi and the Blazblue universe’s god of [[DarkIsEvil darkness]], [[ThePowerOfHate hatred]], [[DestroyerDeity destruction]], [[WeatherManipulation storms]] and [[LordOfTheOcean seas]] ([[AdaptationalJerkass though since this Susano’o is different from the mythological one,]] [[InformedAbility the latter two remain to be seen]]). He is, in fact, the original form of the Susano'o unit. Created by the Master Unit Amaterasu [[TimeAbyss a very long time ago]], he somehow gained sentience, but in doing so he came to feel anger and hate towards Amaterasu because she created him for the sole purpose of serving her every whim. Out of spite, he separated from his own body and became Terumi, [[SatanicArchetype a spirit of pure evil who reveled in his newfound freedom and swore revenge on his sister Amaterasu]] [[OmnicidalManiac by destroying her creations]] [[HopeCrusher and making her taste despair]]. He eventually gave up his body, which eventually came into possession of Jin Kisaragi, becoming Hakumen of the Six Heroes. [[TheChessmaster After causing several repeated centuries' worth of]] [[BigBad manipulation, tragedy, and bloodshed]], Terumi and his Original Body were reunited. At that moment, the true form of the Susano'o unit was revealed: a horrible monster with so much destructive power that he could destroy the universe, tear reality itself asunder, and once he assimilated Noel was all but invincible with now-complete immunity to phenomenon intervention, [[GreaterScopeVillain cementing him as the true and ultimate villain of the BlazBlue universe.]]\

Befitting his brutal nature, Susanoo is an extremely aggressive rushdown character whose fighting style revolves around savagely pummeling his opponent into submission. Coupled with the fact that he doesn't need to unlock his specials before using them in this game, a skilled Susanoo can easily bring divine judgment down upon his foes.\

His Distortion Skills are '''Tokihanatsu: Masou no Kyuujin/Liberating Dagger''' where he forms a large blade of dark energy and executes a single devastating slash and '''Chitagiru: Rengeki/Bloodspiller''' where he strikes the opponent in the gut to launch them into the air with an upwards version of his Hunter's Fang special before crashing down, slamming his opponent to the ground. His Astral Heat, '''Kyo-Oh no Houkou: Orochi Messatsu[[note]]lit. The Mad King's Roar: Serpent Destruction[[/note]]/Roar of the Mad King''', creates a massive blade of dark energy which Susanoo uses to not only slash his opponent into complete nonexistence but reduce the surrounding area to a barren wasteland.
----
* AdvertisedExtra: Terumi was actually advertised in the style of ''Cross Tag'''s artwork, but instead of him being in the game, Susanoo got in instead and Terumi was relegated to a cameo appearance in his intro pose.
* AlternateSelf: While the playable version of him is the genuine article (noted by the fact that his intro has Terumi donning the armor), [[spoiler: the version fought at the end of Episode Extra is a copy summoned by the Takemagahara system after Hazama's meddling.]] The biggest tip-off is that the other version has ''no'' dialogue at all beyond just generic roaring, which is ''very'' out of character for someone like Terumi.
* AnimalMotifs: Wolves. Under Terumi's influence, the Susanoo Unit resembles a cross between a humanoid wolf and a dragon, and his fighting style is fittingly feral and savage.
* AxCrazy: He's the true form of Yuuki Terumi, so this is to be expected. However, in stark contrast to his fragmented will's more maniacal and sadistic personality, the complete Susanoo, while retaining his sadism, is a cold, ruthless, and efficient killing machine fueled by hate and rage whose only desire is to destroy everything, because they are all creations of his sworn enemy: the Amaterasu unit. Basically, both he and his Terumi persona are sadistic assholes who enjoy causing pain to their enemies, but the difference here is that Susanoo is [[NoNonsenseNemesis more subtle, level-headed and restrained]] about it, as well as much better at hiding it than Terumi.
* BadassCreed: He has one fashioned in the likeness of Hakumen's iconic "White Void" speech and even recites part of it in a shared intro when teamed up with Hakumen.
-->"I am strength. I am valor. I am whole! With divine blade in hand shall I sever the threads of evil from this world! I am THE Susanoo of Mikoto! ''The end has come!!''"
* BalanceBuff: Susanoo was considered an underpowered character in ''Central Fiction'' because you have to unlock most of his special moves before you can use them. No unlocking is required this time around.
* BarbarianLonghair: Susanoo's hair is wild and all over the place to reflect his savage and feral nature.
* BerserkButton: Mockery. [[WebAnimation/{{RWBY}} Blake's]] bored, unimpressed reaction to him really rubs him the wrong way. He also ''really'' doesn't like [[TheIllusionist Neo's]] abilities, stating her tricks and illusions make light of his presence.
* BigBad: Of the entire [=BlazBlue=] series.
* BreathWeapon: The Resonance/Cross Combo version of his Liberating Dagger Distortion has him firing a large green energy beam from his mouth as a finisher.
* CastingAShadow: Like Hazama and Terumi, many of Susanoo's attacks utilize dark green energy.
* TheComicallySerious: Susanoo is a serious, no nonsense character in his intro and outro dialogues. The fact that nobody treats him with any respect or is even afraid of him makes his dialogue hilarious as his threats and warnings fly over their heads.
* CompositeCharacter: Like Izayoi, he is basically filling in for both of his playable forms from his home series.
* ContinuityCameo: Terumi's humanoid form briefly appears in one intro where he possesses Hakumen's body to become Susanoo.
* DeadlyLunge: His Splintering Thrust (Tsukisasu Zesshuu) EX special is him lunging into the opponent to grab them, then carry them to the other side of the screen before landing an explosive punch. His Sundering Claw (Nagisaku Kyousou) and his Dancing Dual Kick (Haimau Soukyaku) specials also start with a lunge.
* DemotedToExtra: Formerly a playable character on his own in ''Central Fiction'', Terumi is relegated to appearing in one of Susanoo's intros.
* DestroyerDeity: Titled "God of Destruction" upon his introduction, [[PhysicalGod and has the power to back it up too.]]
* EnemyMine: Like Hazama, with most of the [=BlazBlue=] cast only more dramatic in Susanoo's case due to being the series' main BigBad. Especially notable with Ragna or Hakumen.
* EvilCounterpart: To Hakumen. Hakumen is the Susanoo Unit under the control of Jin Kisaragi and fights for justice. Susanoo is the Susanoo Unit under the control of Yuuki Terumi (who is, in fact, the original owner) and desires to destroy everything that Amaterasu created.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Terumi’s voice becomes much deeper when he turns back into Susanoo.
* FinalBoss: [[spoiler: Of Episode Extra.]]
* ForceAndFinesse: The force to Hakumen's finesse. Hakumen is a MasterSwordsman whose fighting style is focused on precise counter-attacks while Susanoo forgoes swordplay [[NoNonsenseNemesis in favor of tearing the opponent apart with his bare hands.]]
* GodOfEvil: The evilest deity in the [=BlazBlue=] universe and the resident SatanicArchetype.
* GroundPunch: His Towering Flame (Yakifuku Rouen) Reversal Action has him punch the ground, creating a pillar of dark energy around him.
* GreaterScopeVillain: '''Of the entire [=BlazBlue=] franchise as a whole.''' Susanoo is responsible, either directly or indirectly, for every single thing that ever happened in the Blazblue universe. This is not hyperbole, because [[TimeAbyss he has existed since the very beginning of the [=BlazBlue=] universe’s existence and has been pulling the strings of all the bad things that happened in it for a VERY long time.]]
* JerkassGod: The original Susanoo from the legends already was one, [[AdaptationalJerkass but this one is far, FAR worse.]]
* LaserBlade: His Blade of Judgement (Tachikiru Tenjin) EX special and his Liberating Dagger (Tokihanatsu: Masou no Kyuujin) Distortion Skill has him conjure a large sword of dark energy to slash at his opponent. Some of his win poses even have him wielding the large energy sword in his hand.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: He was the last character to be added in his home series (barring Jubei who was DLC), and Terumi doesn't assume this form until the last act of the game's story. Naturally, anyone who hasn't played ''Central Fiction'' might miss out on some details about him.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''MUST DIE''. He also has ''God of War'' when teamed up with Hakumen.
* LightningBruiser: Has very high health, is very fast and has very high damage output all in one package.
* MagikarpPower: '''Averted.''' Those seals he had to unlock via his Drive to use his special moves? He doesn't have those anymore. [[OhCrap You can start panicking now.]]
* ManBehindTheMan: He is this to every other [=BlazBlue=] villain.
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: Just look at him.
* ObviouslyEvil: [[DarkIsEvil Black armor]]? SicklyGreenGlow lining it and featuring in every other attack he makes? Feral idle poses? ''Inhabited by Terumi?'' You don't say.
* OmnicidalManiac: His ultimate goal is [[ToCreateAPlaygroundForEvil to destroy everything and everyone that his sister created, then recreate the universe in his image]], so of course this applies to him.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler: He acts like a generic beast with no dialogue at the end of Episode: Extra, and goes down with pretty minimal effort from Ragna and Naoto. Justified because it's not actually him but a copy summoned by Takamagahara, and him being estimated as only having 3% of his power compared to the real one]].
* RollingAttack: His Hunter's Fang (Karitatsu Shuuga) jump C attack has him rolling at the opponent like a buzzsaw.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Many of his specials and quite a few of his normals rupture the ground, produce plumes of energy, or in the case of his Splintering Thrust (Tsukisasu Zesshuu) special, [[StuffBlowingUp gratuitous explosions]], and the end of his Astral has the landscape destroyed with patches of green fire everywhere. That tells you all you need to know about him.
* PetTheDog: He's surprisingly civil with Ruby after she spends some time fangirling over his armor, even warning her that to try it on would be dangerous, but admires her ambition and even willing to let her try it on if she's prepared to face the results.
* PrecisionFStrike: His method of speech is rather eloquent and theatrical, similar to Hakumen. So it's quite jarring to hear him slip out a curse word while using his Astral Heat. Guess [[SirSwearsALot Terumi]] is still in there somewhere.
--> The end comes! You...your world...and ALL OF ITS BULLSHIT LAWS...CHAOS WILL DEVOUR YOU ALL!
* PosthumousCharacter: [[spoiler: The real Susanoo has been dead since ''Central Fiction''. The one in Episode Extra is an soulless copy created by Takamagahara as an emergency countermeasure to Hazama's machinations. Unfortunately, [[GoneHorriblyWrong the copy is a little too much like the original]], once again threatening all of reality.]]
* PhysicalGod: Well, as physical as [[DestroyerDeity a being]] [[OurGodsAreDifferent like Susanoo]] can be, anyway. He’s one of the most powerful characters of the [=BlazBlue=] Universe and he’s got the power to show it.
* SatanicArchetype: See GodOfEvil above. He is the polar opposite of the [=BlazBlue=] Universe’s equivalent of God, existing solely to be her antithesis and destroy her creations.
* SavageWolves: Combines a wolf-like design with Terumi's brutality.
* ShouldersOfDoom: Like Hakumen, he's got some big shoulder armor, but his are made more menacing by how they gain jaws and look like monster heads.
* SicklyGreenGlow: Moreso than Kazuma, Hazama and Terumi combined. Parts of his armor glow green, and he also emanates a green electric aura.
* SlasherSmile: Because he wouldn't be Terumi without it.
* SmugSuper: Terumi was already an egotistic narcissist, but him possessing the Susano'o Unit not only inflates his already massive ego to full-on megalomania but also gives him the power to back up his boasts.
* StoryBreakerPower: Where do we begin? First, there’s his insane power. As said above, he has enough power to rip reality apart and destroy the universe. Luckily, GameplayAndStorySegregation is in play due to this being a fighting game, so his power’s been “equalized”. Otherwise, [[CurbStompBattle he would instantly]] [[PhysicalGod and brutally massacre]] the entire roster, both heroes and villains alike. Second, there’s the fact that [[ThePowerOfHate as long as people hate him and remember him]] (which, considering how many people he’s pissed off over his really long life, there plenty of), [[AsLongAsThereIsEvil he can never really be destroyed and will always come back]]. Hell, when Ragna finally defeated him once and for all in ''Centralfiction'', he had to do so in an incredibly specific way that bypassed both Susanoo’s hatred-powered immortality and his godlike power.
* TimeAbyss: He has existed since the very beginning of the ''[=BlazBlue=]'' universe’s existence, making him one of the franchise’s oldest characters (which, considering that ''[=BlazBlue=]'' has its fair share of long-lived, ageless or immortal characters, is saying a lot) and making his age incalculable.
* UnskilledButStrong: He outright states in some of his outros that he considers technique to be unworthy of a being such as himself. Considering he's a PhysicalGod with StoryBreakerPower out the wazoo, he doesn't need technique.
* VillainRespect: In his interactions with [[EndearinglyDorky Ruby]], who's [[{{Squee}} fangirling over his armor]] and asks to try it on, he surprisingly approves of her ambition and is even willing to let her do so if she is prepared to face the death that comes with the suit.
* WalkingSpoiler: Concerning the nature of who he is and what his role in the story of ''[=BlazBlue=]'' is, as well as the fact that it’s practically impossible to talk about him without spoiling critical plot elements.
* WorldsStrongestMan: Beyond a shadow of a doubt, he is '''THE''' most powerful ''being'' in the entire ''[=BlazBlue=]'' series. He's torn through large swathes of the strongest members of the cast back in his home series ''all at once.'' He's even stated to be stronger than Azrael. The only character who has ever come close to matching him is Ragna, but only after [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique removing the Idea Engine's limiters on the Grimoire, and that almost killed him in the process]], ''and'' after Jin severed his link with Noel, and even then, it ''still'' wasn't enough and the only way to win was to separate Terumi from the Susano'o unit and weaken him to the point where he could be killed.
