A Spanish Master Assassin and an ancestor of Callum Lynch through his maternal line. At the time of the fall of Granada (1491-1492), he seeks to keep the Templars of the Spanish Inquisition away from an Apple of Eden at all cost.
----
* AllThereInTheManual: According to the novelization, he died in 1526.
* BattleCouple: It is implied that Maria and Aguilar are lovers in addition to being fellow members of the Assassin Brotherhood.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: He uses the Assassins' traditional signature hidden wrist blades as primary weapons.
* BowAndSwordInAccord: In addition to being a MultiMeleeMaster, he's also a very good shot with a bow, and transfers that skill (along with his melee combat skills) to Callum through the Bleeding Effect.
* BurnTheWitch: Grand Inquisitor Tomás de Torquemada sentences him and his lover and fellow Assassin Maria and his mentor Benedicto to a PublicExecution by fire in Seville after deeming them "heretics".
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: The movie is set the same year as ''Assassin's Creed II: Discovery'', which means Aguilar and [[Characters/AssassinsCreedEzioAuditore Ezio Auditore]] are contemporaries. Aguilar, like Ezio, is an Assassin, wears a hood, has two hidden blades and [[LeParkour parkours]] his way through cities. Both Ezio and Aguilar are {{Multi Melee Master}}s and confront the Templars-led Spanish Inquisition at the time of the Granada War (Ezio does in ''Discovery''). However, Aguilar's origins are very much a MysteriousPast while Ezio's are well established, Ezio's lavish white outfits reflect his Italian nobleman origins while Aguilar's darker and more humble outfit has Moorish influences (since he comes from the Emirate of Granada). Also, Ezio didn't have one of his fingers severed during his induction in the Brotherhood, and Aguilar doesn't wear a BadassCape. They end up meeting each other in ''Assassin's Creed Rebellion'' (mobile game).
* {{Fingore}}: Much like [[Characters/AssassinsCreedI Altaïr]], Aguilar's ring finger is severed during his Assassin induction. Interestingly, this should not have been necessary, as the Hidden Blade's design was modified by Altaïr in the 13th Century so as to no longer require such a sacrifice as explained in ''VideoGame/AssassinsCreedII''. It's probably just that the finger-cutting tradition was still strong there.
* TheHeretic: The Spanish Inquisition (the 15th/16th century Templars) considers him and the other Assassins as such.
* HeroicBSOD: Suffers a minor one [[spoiler:when Maria drops dead.]]
* IdenticalGrandson: {{Justified|Trope}} just like the games due to the Animus which makes Aguilar appear identical to his descendant Callum. Both are played by Michael Fassbender.
* InTheHood: His outfit includes a hood per the franchise's Assassins' tradition. What's more, the Brotherhood's symbol is embroidered on it.
* LongDeadBadass: He died 490 years before Callum Lynch was put in the Animus.
* MeaningfulName: "Aguilar" is a Spanish surname meaning "relative to eagles" or "eagle house". Each one of Lynch's regressions to late 15th century Granada starts with an eagle flying over the city, much like an Eagle Vision.
* MultiMeleeMaster: He is very proficient with any type of melee weapons.
* LeParkour: He and Maria freerun through rooftops, balconies and street banner ropes in Granada to escape Torquemada's troops after freeing themselves from the pyre.
* SecretKeeper: He has vowed to protect the Apple of Eden hidden by the emir of Granada from the Spanish Inquisition (the late 15th century avatar of the Templars).

A Spanish Assassin during the late 15th century, and Aguilar's lover at the time of the fall of Granada.
----
* ActionGirl: Being an Assassin, this comes naturally.
* BattleCouple: It is implied that Maria and Aguilar are lovers in addition to being fellow members of the Assassin Brotherhood.
* BetterToDieThanBeKilled: [[spoiler:Stabs herself with the blade Ojeda keeps at her throat when she sees Aguilar hesitating between her life and the Apple.]]
* TheBladeAlwaysLandsPointyEndIn: She uses throwing knives, most notably during the escape from the pyre.
* FacialMarkings: She's got markings on her chin, on her forehead and below each one of her eyes, as well as eye liner on her lower eyelids.
* HumanShield: [[spoiler:The fight over the Apple of Eden ends up with Ojeda using her as a human shield while Aguilar does the same with Tomás de Torquemada.]]
* InTheHood: Hers is part of a BadassCape.
* LeParkour: She freeruns with Aguilar through rooftops, balconies and street banner ropes in Granada to escape Torquemada's troops after managing to free themselves from the pyre.
* SecretKeeper: Like Aguilar, she has vowed to protect the Eden Apple hidden by the emir of Granada from the Templars, even to the cost of her life [[spoiler:(she precisely dies protecting it).]]

A Mentor Assassin of the Spanish Brotherhood in the late 15th century. During the end of the Granada War, he took steps to protect the young son of his ally, Sultan Muhammad XII of Granada, having the boy hidden in a village by a friend of the Brotherhood.
----
* AllThereInTheManual: The novelization details him more, we know that he's a Mentor through it.
* BurnTheWitch: He is branded a heretic by Tomás de Torquemada and burned at the stake.
* MentorOccupationalHazard: He is the Mentor of both Aguilar and Maria, and doesn't survive.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: He doesn't make it past the second 1491 scene.

A Dominican Friar and spiritual advisor to Queen Isabella I, Torquemada was appointed Grand Inquisitor of Spain by [[UsefulNotes/PopeAlexanderVI Pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia)]], with the hopes that the Templars can use the [[UsefulNotes/TheSpanishInquisition Inquisition]] to eliminate the Spanish Chapter of the Assassin Brotherhood, and any political rivals that threatened Borgia's ascent to the papacy.
----
* AscendedFanboy: Of Rodrigo Borgia in ''Discovery'' and eventually becomes his NumberTwo.
* BaldOfEvil: Sports the Dominican tonsure in the film.
* BeethovenWasAnAlienSpy: The main historical figure behind the Spanish Inquisition also happens to be a Templar seeking to eradicate Assassins in Spain and trying to get his hands on an Apple of Eden.
* BigBad: The head villain of ''Assassin's Creed: Discovery'' and of the 1491 parts of the 2016 film.
* BurnTheWitch: The mean of PublicExecution he favors for those he deems "heretics".
* TheDragon: Was briefly one to Borgia, during the interregnum between the death of Silvio Barbarigo and the rise of Cesare Borgia.
* HeroKiller: Uses the Inquisition to kill most (if not all) of the Spanish Assassin Brotherhood.
* HistoricalDomainCharacter: [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomás_de_Torquemada Of course.]]
* HistoricalVillainUpgrade:
** Downplayed in ''Discovery'', as he's just a pawn of the Borgias.
** Played straight in the film, as he intends to use the Apple of Eden against humanity.
* NonActionBigBad: He has no fighting skills. Ojeda is his sole rampart when Aguilar and Maria ambush him inside the Alhambra chamber where Muhammad XII kept the Apple of Eden.
* ThePurge: He wants to purge Spain of its heretics... and of its Assassins as well.
* SinisterMinister: You really wouldn't want to be deemed "heretic" by this clergyman.
* SinisterSchnoz: That distinguishing feature is most visible [[http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/assassinscreed/images/2/25/AC_film_Torquemada_premier_trailer.png/revision/latest?cb=20160513183408&path-prefix=fr here]].

The field commander for Torquemada's army, and basically Torquemada's hulking henchman.
----
* BeardOfEvil: He is a bearded brute.
* TheBrute: A large man with an imposing presence, and his armor sports Almogavar and Varangian influences.
* CompositeCharacter: He is a mix of two historical figures related to the conquest of Granada. The first of them is UsefulNotes/AlonsoDeOjeda, a soldier and commander who took part in the battle and later became a conquistador in the Americas (and who was a personal enemy to Cristopher Columbus, just like they are respectively a Templar and a member of the Assassins in the film). The second is a Dominican monk also named Alonso de Ojeda, blood cousin to the first, who was an impulsor of the Spanish Inquisition and a colleague to Torquemada. Finally, he could be considered to be part original character as well, as none of the historical Ojedas died in Granada in 1492.
* TheDragon: He's Torquemada's second.
* DentedIron: In addition to the scars mentioned below, he has a discolored eye and a broken nose that was never properly set back into place.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: A scar on his right forehead, and another running along the nose.
* HistoricalVillainUpgrade: Partially; the historical Ojeda didn't serve under the Spanish Inquisition and most certainly never worked with Torquemada, but his cousin, the other Alonso de Ojeda, did both.
* OnlyOneName: Although he is intuitively easy to identify as a fictional version of Alonso de Ojeda (any of them), his first name is never mentioned on the film.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: He's Torquemada's second, he gives Aguilar the toughest fight compared to the rest of the Templars, and comes the closest of any of them to killing him.
* RedRightHand: In the novelization, attention is drawn to his discolored eye.
* SamuraiPonytail: Oddly enough for 15th century Spain, he sports a topknot haircut.
* UnskilledButStrong: He surely doesn't have the training of an Assassin, but still knows how to put a fight with aid of his raw physical strength and warrior training, and actually beats down Aguilar for a while.
