!!Present Era
[[folder:Mayor of Baruoki]]
An elderly man who acts as the mayor of Baruoki village. He found Aldo and Feinne in Moonlight Forest 16 years ago and took them in as his own.
----
* {{Cap}}: The Mayor becomes a party member when he [[JustifiedTutorial trains Aldo]] some advanced techniques outside the town. During those fights, both of his HP and MP bars have already reached 9999.
* CrackOhMyBack: Despite his combat prowess, the Mayor's age means his body is not always kind to him, which can be inconvenient the moment his back starts to act up in the wrong time. Not helped that the moment he becomes fired in battle, he ''really'' is into it.
* HappilyAdopted: He considers Aldo and Feinne to be his own family, which they reciprocate - enough for them to go through the lengths to craft a new cane for him as gift.
* NoNameGiven: He is only dubbed as "Mayor" in the story, while both Aldo and Feinne only call him "Grandpa". [[spoiler:Victor's third character quest finally reveals his name: Gileas.]]
* NotSoAboveItAll:
** The Mayor is rather mild-mannered most of the time, albeit possessing fighting spirit that will flare out when stoked. The moment his old friend [[spoiler:Victor]] shows up, though, he immediately goes ''ballistic'' from years of apparently putting up with his antics in their youth and attacked the person in question.
** In the same quest, he also insists on going to Moonlight Forest for what is an obvious trap despite the obvious danger because he wishes to feel the thrill of adventure once again, something that the person in question calls him out for. He also overkilled a single goblin in the same quest using KamehameHadoken under the reasoning that "it may turn into multiple mini-goblins the moment he strikes", something that even Aldo finds over-the-top.
* OldMaster: Despite his age, he is still capable of making a counter-attack against Aldo's swordplay when they trained inside their house. In the [[JustifiedTutorial training sessions]] outside the town, he teaches Aldo some advanced techniques by demonstrating them himself, including magic and supportive skills that are otherwise available later in the game. Completing all the tutorial fights allows the player to face him in battle, [[{{Superboss}} and he's not to be taken lightly.]]
* ParentalSubstitute: He serves as this for Aldo and Feinne, being the one who took them in when he found them in Moonlight Forest 16 years prior.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With [[spoiler:Victor]], whose quirks apparently constantly dragged him into trouble during their youth.
* TheWorfEffect: With the addition of him as an OptionalBoss in the 2.2.800 update, his defeat by beastfolk during their attempt to kidnap Feinne in the beginning of Part I becomes this, as it serves to show how much of a threat the beastfolk are. However, as noted below...
* WorfHadTheFlu: The Mayor's cane (that doubles as his weapon) is not at the best shape in the beginning of the story, which is likely why he cannot utilize his power to the fullest until Aldo and Feinne properly gifted him the new cane they made for him.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Varuo]]
A black cat that lives with Aldo and Feinne. He travels with the party, and is playable in an optional mode where he can travel the area around Baruoki.
----
* HenpeckedHusband: [[spoiler: Shapeshifting Varuo's motive for messing with time is avoid ending up with his lazy and demanding wife.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler: The time-traveling, shapeshifting Varuo, he inadvertently changes his own history when he attempts to encourage his past self to touch a book that would grant him his powers. As a result, he ends up stranded in the Spacetime Rift.]]
* ParadoxPerson: [[spoiler:Since his alternate version accidentally nulled the series of events that led to his existence, he cannot leave the Spacetime Rift without triggering the paradox and cancelling out his existence.]]
* PetDressup: It's possible to dress him up in different costumes, although he doesn't seem to mind it.
* RebelliousSpirit: He hates being told what to do, to the point that he [[spoiler: rejects great powers just to spite an alternate version of himself.]]
* RedEyesTakeWarning: In contrast to his normal green eyes, [[spoiler: the alternate-timeline version the caused a great catastrophe by meddling with time has red eyes.]]
* TeamPet: He's the cat that follows the party around by default. He can discover secret paths and crawl through small spaces in the haunted house.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ogre Rancorem]]
A powerful demon sword inhabited by the revengeful spirit of the defunct Ogre race. It wants to exact revenge on humanity, but is at the same time bound to help Aldo in his quest.
----
* BeenThereShapedHistory: [[spoiler:Is revealed at the end of ''The Celestial Tower and the Shadow Witch'' episode to be partially responsible for turning Reptires's World Tree into the Tree of Woe, though not by choice, as someone else brought him there to corrupt it.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:Aldo couldn't even hold a fight against the Beast King Guildna in Chapter 2, until his sheathed sword shines and manifests as the legendary Ogre Rancorem, giving Aldo a decent fighting chance. This incident was unexpected enough for Guildna that he spared Aldo's life]].
* DefeatMeansFriendship: For a given value of friendship, but once Aldo defeats it's manifestation, Ogre Rancorem grundgingly accepts to help him. [[spoiler:Though it's still shown to have its own agenda, such as kick starting the whole Ogre War arc by summoning Ogre Spike and possessing Aldo to enact his revenge against the Thunder King and ensure its existence by killing all of the Ogres.]]
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler:During Chapter 42, it takes over Aldo's body as it seeks to move forth and kill Thunder King. The player will have to hunt him down and defeat him to regain control of Aldo and access to Another Force.]]
* EmotionEater: Ogre Rancorem draws power from the emotions of those around it, with hatred being its favorite. Flammelapis's character quests demosntrate that Ogre Rancorem can also eat other emotions but finds them less fulfilling, especially if there are multiple emotions mixed in the mood.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: If the ogre's vengeance can be considered evil. In the final part of "Return of Goddess of Time", [[spoiler:despite previously causing the trouble for the party ''again'' by possessing Himika and helping to make way for the dark god to return, even watching the world will be reduced to nothingness when Chaos returns is apparently too much for Ogre Rancorem that it immediately cooperates with the party once again and summons the wielders of Palsifal Sword from all eras with the help of Feinne's Geo power and Kamlanage's ability to re-seal the void.]]
* ExactWords: Rancorem states that ''no life'' is sacred in it's eyes. Including the ogres. When confronted about the latter point, Rancorem replies that, since it's born out of the ogres' final grudge against humankind, it ''needs'' to see it's race wiped out in order to even exist.
* ILied: When first unlocking Another Force, he claimed to have been formed by the Beast clan exterminating all of the Ogres. In truth, it was humanity that did it, and lied in the hopes to use Aldo for his revenge. Being called out on it forces him to take the form of a giant ogre in an attempt to kill them all, though losing forces him to put his vengeance on hold.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: When Aldo and Rancorem disagree on something, Aldo preparing to toss it away at the bottom of the sea is enough to have Rancorem yield. After all, it can't get his revenge on humankind without a wielder. Given its way of speaking during the scene and [[spoiler:the fact that it possesses Aldo ''again'' in Garambarrel's third character quest before Garam and Geldbariss make quick work of it]], the threat may not necessarily be effective and Ogre Rancorem might just being sarcastic about it.
* LegendaryWeapon: Its history above already plays a big part in it, to the point Ewan claims he and Aldo would roll in cash if he finds a buyer for it. [[spoiler:The Ogre Wars reveal it's even older than that, being created by the [[{{Precursors}} Titans]]]].
* OddlyShapedSword: It's blade looks like a messy blue and red flame.
* OnlyTheChosenMayWield: Only Aldo can use it.
* PromotedToPlayable: [[spoiler:After years of being basically a sword that hardly leaves its sheathe, Ogre Rancorem can be obtained as a usable sword after finishing Part 5 of the Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales Mythos, synergizing with Aldo's personal Grasta to make him a devastating force. You can rematch him to further augment the sword and make Aldo one of the best characters in your roster!]]
* TheReveal: [[spoiler:Ogre Rancorem is actually Palsifal's sword after being corrupted by the Ogres vengeful spirit.]] It's the encounter of both versions (Ogre Rancorem being carried by Aldo and [[spoiler:Palsifal's sword being carried by the Thunder King]]) at the place where the Ogres fell that causes their comeback.
** Earlier on, it states that it's helping Aldo because the beasts destroyed the ogres. It's later revealed that it was lying, that humans destroyed the ogres, and it's just using Aldo to get its revenge.
* VillainHasAPoint: While [[spoiler:possessing Aldo to use him to kill Thunder King]] is a villainous move, Rancorem states that Thunder King ''did'' exterminate his whole race and that anybody in his position would want revenge.
* WildCard: There really is no telling when the Ogre Rancorem will cooperate with the party and when it will backstab them at moment's notice to go about with its quest to eradicate mankind, though some good beating will cause it to behave for a while.
* YouCantFightFate: It flat out tells [[spoiler:Zennon Ogre]] that it's their destiny to die at the hand of the humans (being the ''living proof'' of it) and nothing can change that.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mobecha and Pepori]]
Two beastfolk assigned by Guildna to act as Feinne's bodyguards and servants during her captivity, who later tag along with her.
----
* MrExposition: They drop a lot of info concerning the beastfolk-human conflict the first time Aldo meets them.
* TheNicknamer: They call Aldo "bub". Later into Part II, Mobecha seems to be considering to call Aldo as "big bro".
* SeriousBusiness: They might look goofy, but they don't screw around with their job of protecting Feinne.
* {{Shapeshifting}}: They can disguise themselves as humans.
* ThoseTwoGuys: They are never seen apart.
* TokenHeroicOrc: Riica notes that their subspecies of beastfolk is rather pacifistic towards humans.
* UndyingLoyalty: Both of them seem to have this to Feinne, enough for them to move in to Baruoki at the conclusion to Part I so they can remain with her (and Aldo).
[[/folder]]

[[folder:King Miglance VII]]
!!Kadlim Belum Miglance
A king from the present era who rules over Miglance, the nation Baruoki is a part of.
----
* AbdicateTheThrone: [[spoiler: He attempts to do this in the end of the "Last Day of Miglance" quest by establishing a democratically elected parliament to take over governing the country. However, the parliament's first act is to reinstate him as king, this time of a symbolic monarchy, to make the transition easier.]]
* AffectionateNickname: He has one from [[spoiler:Victor]], who used to call him "Kaddy".
* BackForTheFinale: [[spoiler:In "Return of Goddess of Time", along with the Thunder King and King Palsifal, he is summoned by Ogre Rancorem and Feinne to assist the party to re-seal Chaos using Palsifal's holy blade.]]
* TheChainsOfCommanding: He finds ruling a burden sometimes, but would not abandon his duty to his kingdom.
* CharacterWitness: In one of the character sidequests, [[spoiler: he vouches for Lokido's character when a racist official tries to exile him from Unigan.]] He also refuses to enact justice on [[spoiler:Shion]] despite attempting to murder him, sensing he doesn't want to go through.
* ADayInTheLimelight: He is the central character of "Last Day of Miglance" subquest, and the player gets to control him during the quest.
* TheGoodKing: He's considered a strong leader, liked by his citizens and a major threat to Miglance's enemies.
* KingBobTheNth: As shown by his title, he is the seventh.
* NervesOfSteel: He doesn't bat an eyelash when [[spoiler:Shion comes to assassinate him]] or when [[spoiler:the Thunder King brandishes Palsifal's sword in front of him]]. His reaction to this is to gently mock Aldo about how he's gotten himself in yet another mess.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: He personally leads his knights in the defense of Unigan and, facing powerful enemies, he simply pulls out his sword and prepares to duke it out.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lakhesis]]
The commander of the knights under King Miglance.
----
* ADayInTheLimelight: Somewhat. The main world Lakhesis still doesn't get much spotlight as of this article's revision, but his AlternateTimeline version in "First Knight and the Holy Sword" gains much more focus and plays important role as the leader of that dimension's LaResistance against Commander Anabel.
* LaResistance: His parallel version leads one against Commander Anabel, whose rule has basically reduced King Miglance's influence in that world and allows her to be more ruthless in her campaign against the beastfolk.
* OlderThanTheyLook: He looks fairly young, but his parallel version, who is presumably the same age as his main version, has an adult daughter ([[spoiler:Radias]]).
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler:This is how the parallel Lakhesis ultimately died - by taking the fatal hit from a beast intended for Radias after the latter [[NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished attempted to stop a soldier from performing torture against said beast]].]]
* UndyingLoyalty: Towards King Miglance, in both the home and the parallel versions.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Thunder King]]
A king from the past era who led humanity to victory against the ogres. Once displaced in Aldo's timeline, he strikes an alliance with King Miglance and Guildna in order to destroy the ogres.
----
* BackForTheFinale: [[spoiler:In "Return of Goddess of Time", he is summoned by Ogre Rancorem and Feinne to assist the party to re-seal Chaos using Palsifal's holy blade.]]
* GoOutWithASmile: [[spoiler:His curse finally does him in at the end of the Ogre Wars, but he dies happy, sitting near the tree where he sat with his (then future) wife talking about their future, knowing that he fulfilled his destiny as the slayer of ogres and that he'll soon rejoin his family.]]
* HeroicBuild: The man looks like he could be one of the [[Manga/JojosBizarreAdventure Pillar Men]] or a beardless [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Ganondorf]].
* GoodCounterpart: To Palsifal. While Palsifal got mad with power and over the grief of losing his family, Thunder King [[spoiler:is driven by the death of his wife and son]] and strikes a quick friendship with Aldo and Miglance VII.
* TheGoodKing: He is much more of a warmonger than King Miglance, but he does what he does to make sure humans won't suffer at the hands of the Ogres. He also quickly trusts Aldo and his team when they defeat some ogres in front of him and is ''amazed'' at how Unigan is beautiful.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: He bought Ogre Rancorem to the World Tree he died at, [[spoiler: and the demon sword corrupted the tree into a Tree of Woe, with the potential to destroy the world.]]
* ItsPersonal: He has to be talked out of fighting the ogres that killed his son, since he needed to save his strength to fight Zennon.
* KubrickStare: His "happy" character portrait gives him one along with a PsychoticSmirk.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: [[spoiler:How he lands the fatal blow on Zennon Ogre.]]
* WalkingShirtlessScene: His clothes leave his whole torso and abs exposed.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: [[spoiler:Due to a curse cast on him by a powerful dark mage, he has six months tops left to live.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Horai villagers]]
The inhabitants of the Horai Mining Village, the setting of the Time Mine episode. At first, the only one is the timid loner and later "volunteered" mayor Marlowe, but soon others join: hotheaded carpenter Terry, spacey bard Henry, stern metalworker Rebecca, frail vagrant Sylvia, [[{{Pun}} bombastic]] explosive technician Hilda, grumpy mastersmith Gordon, [[spoiler: Mona, the daughter of Terry and Sylvia]], cranky old lady Grace [[spoiler: and Good Macky]].
----
* CharacterDevelopment: After the bridge is completed, Aldo finds the inhabitants very different, most notably Marlowe who became much more confident and ambitious and Terry calmer as well as [[spoiler:a father]]. [[spoiler:This is the effects of the Visus Echo messing with the local time, causing nearly 10 years to pass in Horai while it's only a few days outside.]]
* GotVolunteered: At first Marlowe is just a young man who wants to rebuild Horai and find out why it was abandoned. Then Terry dubs him "mayor", followed by the other Horai denizens. Fortunately, Marlowe turns out to be cut for the job.
* HappilyMarried: Terry and Sylvia.
* TheHeart: Sylvia thinks she's useless since she doesn't know a trade like Terry or can lead like Marlowe, so she decides to tend the flowers of the village. This turns out to brighten the mood of everyone and turn the shabby village in a beautiful place. [[spoiler:After her death, Mona decides to walk in her mother's footsteps.]]
* HiddenDepths: Hilda is as good as a clockmaker as a bomb technician, but she finds explosives funnier. Likewise, Henry is quite crafty for a bard and knows his way around medicine.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Gordon doesn't give a shit about anything but his work and himself once his work is done, and won't hesitate to tell you that. But he also willingly takes Terry in as his apprentice to work on the Horai bridge -- a bridge that he chose to rebuild ''just'' because he overheard Aldo talking about it. [[spoiler:He also carves a gravestone for Sylvia so she won't be forgotten.]]
* NightmareFetishist: Henry gets jolts of inspiration from his phobias of heights and darkness. The latter causes him to act like he's possessed, freaking out Aldo and Amy in the process.
* ParentalSubstitute: Rebecca becomes one for Sylvia, as she's estranged from her son and Sylvia is implied to be an orphan.
* ScrewPolitenessImASenior: Grace's way of welcoming people in her house is to threaten to pelt them with fruits or ''rocks'' [[spoiler:until Hilda, implied to be her daughter, cracks her shell]].
* StuffBlowingUp: Hilda's bread and butter. Her only job is to cook up bombs to clear rubble in the mines. According to a fisherman, her works caused a gigantic fire at the Rinde docks.
[[/folder]]

!!Future Era
[[folder:Sebastia]]
A young genius from Elzion and a close friend of Amy and Riica, as well as other important people.
----
* ComplexityAddiction: The entirety of Riica's quest to unlock her 5-star form stems from the fact that [[spoiler:Sebastia wanted the Madoka Report, which can only be accessed using Riica's AI. Thus, Sebastia creates a new AI from scratch that through a series of battles can learn and replicate Riica's AI (unsurprisingly, said AI gets a little ''too'' self-autonomous and rebels)... and at no point did it ever occur to her to just ''ask'' Riica to access the report for her]].
* FriendlessBackground: She has trouble making friends. Her only friends are Amy and the Administrator, and Amy has to reassure her that the two of them are friends.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Her chess partner, the Administrator, is one of the few people she considers to put her at ease.
* ProperlyParanoid: Riica's second quest has her barricaded inside her house as she's persuaded that someone is following her. Aldo is at first dismissive, but it turns out she ''does'' have a stalker.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: She's barely taller than the child [=NPCs=], but she was able to jump from middle school straight to college. [[spoiler: No surprise considering she was able to design a HumongousMecha in middle school.]]
* SmartPeoplePlayChess: Her chess buddy is none other than the Administrator of Elzion.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Though not directly name-dropped, [[spoiler:Delamair referred to the advice of "the head's granddaughter" while trying to hunt Rindo, which was how Delamair found him in the first place and nearly put everyone in Angal Settlement and young Kikyo in danger had it not for Rindo turning himself in]].
* VagueAge: She's clearly young, but Leo pesters her about wanting to marry her.
* WrenchWench: Her favorite activity is to find and tinker with Synth Human parts and upgrade them. [[spoiler:This puts her on the Synth Human radar, who keep tabs on her to steal and reproduce her work.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Professor Chronos (unmarked spoilers)]]
A brilliant scientist from the future that worked on the Xeno-Crystal Project. He went missing years ago, along with his entire family. [[spoiler: He really sent himself into the past to try and change history as the Oracle.]]
----
* CoolMask: Wears one as the Oracle. It's to hide the horrid radiation burns on his face from his experiments.
* IgnoredExpert: He knew the Xeno-Crystal was unstable and wanted to focus on the Geo-Crystal instead. He got ignored, since the Xeno-Crystal provided more energy.
* LukeIAmYourFather: Or rather, cat owner.
* SecretSecretKeeper: When Aldo and Feinne meet him in Purgatory, Chronos reveals that he knew Aldo wasn’t really Eden during their conversation in the Tower of Stars.
* SoProudOfYou: He tells Aldo that he's glad that Aldo foiled his plan earlier, and how happy he is with how Aldo grew up during his dying speech, since he mistook Aldo for his son.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Madoka Chronos (unmarked spoilers)]]
Professor Chronos' wife and mother of his children, who worked alongside him at KMS and went missing just like him and their family. A professor in her own right, she was involved in the development of Riica.
----
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: She leaps into the sea of time to be with Eden. In doing so, she will eventually become the Goddess of Time.
* GoodParents: Like her husband, she dearly loved their children and their pet cat.
* IgnoredExpert: KMS refused to listen to her objections and disagreements about turning Riica into a combat android instead of a helper one, so she fried it's protocols.
* NervesOfSteel: When she got separated from her family and ended up in Antiquity Garulea, she was remarkably able to compose herself.
* OneSteveLimit: As she is a professor in her own right, she is referred to as "Professor Madoka" instead of "Professor Chronos".
* SharingABody: The reason why she introduced herself as Queen Himika of Gadaro instead of Madoka Chronos. Her body is that of Madoka's and her spirit is also still within a body, but after the Queen Himika's soul became separated from her original body following the Great Timequake, the Queen's soul ends up in Madoka's body and presumably becomes the dominant one.
* ShoutOut: A woman named ''Madoka'' who becomes a goddess? [[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica Where have we seen that before?]] Bonus points, Madoka became a magical girl due to a black cat, just like how the events of the game changed because of Sorik (who is also a black cat).
* WeHardlyKnewYe: She has the least amount of importance of the whole Chronos family. Her only appearances are on a holovid and in Eden's memories. Riica's 5-star quest, however, gives her more of the spotlight.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Of all the Chronos family members, Madoka is the least focused on. She finally makes an appearance in Tales From the East Part 2, as a part of the Church of the Goddess of Time.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Administrator]]
The ruler of Elzion in the future era.
----
* CoolOldGuy: He is noticeably older than the two other rulers (Palsifal and Miglance VII), has a cohort of servant androids in his office, takes time off his schedule to play chess with Sebastia and helps Aldo and his team at every step of the way.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: He plays chess with Sebastia, and considers her a good enough friend to give Aldo an audience just because she requested it.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: He lets Aldo and his friends access the Xeno-Domain at will (something only KMS higher-ups can do, for short periods of time) and use his personal teleporter since they're the only people who have a clue about how to stop the Phantom and thus prevent damage and loss of life to Elzion.
* SmartPeoplePlayChess: He is Sebastia's chess buddy, and as later episode reveals, he is chosen by the quantum computer to become the Administrator of Elzion based on his brain aptitude.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Synth Hydra and Synth Cannon]]
The Synths in charge of the Riftbreaker, the time-traveling ship built by the Synth Humans.
----
* BigDamnHeroes: Doubles as DynamicEntry. [[spoiler:When the party fell into Delamair's trap in Part II and is nearly microwaved, Synth Hydra saves the party by '''ramming itself''' into the KMS Eastern Division Building, leaving a rather noticeable hole on the floor.]]
* CasanovaWannabe: Synth Hydra won't turn down a lady's request. Men, on the other hand...
* CrazyPrepared: [[spoiler:In the event above, it is revealed that Synth Hydra put some sort of tracking modules to each member of the party sometime after joining them so it can always know their whereabouts and situation - and personally step in if necessary.]]
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Once Aldo and team defeat the Synth Hydra and Helena nearly performs an HeroicSacrifice to prevent the Riftbreaker from crashing, they become strong allies to the party.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: PlayedForLaughs, and doubles as TooDumbToLive. In Riica's third character quest, the Synth Cannon tries to give Synth Hydra assistance in battle... by pointing his cannon at the party. [[ItMakesSenseInContext Who had just fought Synth Hydra and is in front of it]]. ''Then proceeds to fire said cannon into the party's direction''. Needless to say, not only it did manage to nearly kill the entire party, it also nearly killed itself ''and'' Synth Hydra when the latter got knocked out from the cannon attack and resulting in the Riftbreaker falling at rapid speed.
* GlobalAirship: While allied with the main cast, the Riftbreaker functions like one. They even let you travel to new locations in various time periods, and fast-travel across time periods without needing to stop by the Spacetime Rift.
* HotBlooded: Synth Cannon, as the main weapon of the Riftbreaker, always ramble about how he wants to blow up and shoot stuff, even after he joins you.
* LivingShip: Both Synth Hydra and Synth Cannon are basically Synth Humans with non-humanoid (and massively upscaled) forms.
* NoodleIncident: In the second chapter of "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise", Rosetta snuck abroad the Riftbreaker after eavesdropping Aldo's conversation with Melina and co., and filled the situation ahead to the Synth Hydra. Just ''what'' means she used to fill in the Synth Hydra with the information, though, apparently reduced the Synth Hydra into "baby talks" and Synth Hydra refused to comment any further when the Synth Cannon called it out on it.
* XtremeKoolLetterz: Once he assimilates the Primeval Gem [[spoiler:and can cross Chronos' Umbra galewinds]], Hydra jokingly asks to be called "Synth Hydra Z" from now on.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Riicat (unmarked spoilers for "One Other Ordeal")]]
Introduced in "One Other Ordeal" sidequest, Riicat is a cat robot that for some reasons has inexplicably similar color scheme to Riica and follows her and Aldo around throughout the quest. After the conclusion of the quest, she stays abroad the Riftbreaker.
----
* TheDogWasTheMastermind: After the party caught wind of the weapon factory got hacked ''again'' in the fourth part of the quest, the party proceed to give accusing look to Sebastia as the one responsible for the first three incidents. Sebastia [[NotMeThisTime immediately went defensive]] to no avail, only for Riicat herself revealing that she is the one responsible for the hacking this time.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lord Sharkington]]
A student at IDA School that wants heart-mark scraps. He can also be recruited as an ally for Lord of Mana.
----
* DoNotCallMePaul: He does not want his real name to be known, which his sister uses to chase him off when he's being to overprotective.
* InstantFanClub: He has a group of fans known as the Shark Squad that are so obsessive they even dress exactly like him. They want star-mark scraps instead of heart-mark scraps though.
* JapaneseDelinquents: His visual design includes a facial mask, ear piercings, and no uniform jacket, to go with his tough guy attitude. His sister claims that he has quite the baby face under the mask.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: He does not like boys being in his sister's room, even if they're only there to help her with her project.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Dream World Beast]]
An unnamed chimera that appears in the Dream Worlds during the IDA School Episodes. It has acted as a benefactor by allowing the party to look into the distant memories of the dreamers, which becomes crucial to saving them. Of course, it does this with a price, and the player has to do some legwork in progressing the Episodes first.

[[spoiler:For more information of its true identity, see Mana under the Future Era section.]]
----
* FunetikAksent: How its speech is written.
* MysteriousStranger: Nobody knows who or what it is, but Claude notes that the Chimera appeared in every Dream World IDEA has encountered and always helped to save the dreamers.
* SoulFragment: [[spoiler:The Dream World Beasts are actually scattered fragments of Mana. They all get brought together to reform her at the midpoint of IDA School Part 3.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fukahire]]
A former dark apple victim at IDA Academy who is also the main developer for Lord of Mana, the most anticipated virtual reality [=MMO=]. Her dream was have the game she was working on finally be bug-free. She ropes Aldo into play testing her game while he's investigating the dream apple case.
----
* EdibleThemeNaming: Her name, translated, means "shark fin". One of her siblings is named "Caviar".
* GameBreaker: Invoked with her Lord of Mana character, which is deliberatly overpowered since she's the game's dev. She has increased [=HP=] and [=MP=] and access to the Fukahi-Laser, which deals 9,999,999 damage to all enemies at the cost of knocking out the user.
* MissingMom: She's an orphan, which is why she was targeted for a dark apple.
* TeenGenius: Despite being about 16 years old, she's the main dev for the most popular game on campus.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ciel's parents]]
The father and mother of Ciel, Shannon and their three sisters. Ciel's father is a very eccentric fashion designer, whose pecularities rubbed on his wife and children. They own the whole Garden Island, home to their manor and shapeshifting garden.
----
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Inverted. Ciel and Shannon are as weird as their parents and all of the island's inhabitants, to the dismay of Aldo and Renri.
* BadFuture: [[spoiler:Ciel's entire family is revealed to hail from the far future of a different timeline, where IndividualityIsIllegal and their artistic quirks are criminalized. They fled by using the Garden Island as a dimension-traveling ship, then settled down in Elzion's timeline after the birth of Ciel.]]
* BeingWatched: The Elzion COA have their eyes on them ever since they installed themselves on Garden Island, having a dedicated inspector assigned to their house. Officially, it's because their home is too close to the Elzion plate, but Renri states that they're suspected criminals due to their isolation and eccentric lifestyle. It's considered [[ReassignedToAntarctica a borderline demotion]] by Renri and the COA to get this assignment since you have to deal with Ciel's family all day every day.
* BigFancyHouse: When you have five children, you need a big house, but Ciel's parents live in a literal manor. With a large garden that reorganizes itself every time you want and full of robotic animals. [[spoiler:And that doesn't include the advanced machinery that powers the whole island, a GlobalAirship in disguise]].
* CampStraight: Ciel's dad. Would you believe the fashion designer who walks around wearing big butterfly wings and overreacts to anything has a wife and five kids?
* CordonBleughChef: Ciel's mother tends to put rather... unique combination of ingredients into her cooking. Considering the nature of their [[QuirkyHousehold household]], though, none of its residents seem to have any complaints.
* IChooseToStay: [[spoiler:Ciel's family were dimensional wanderers at first, but stuck to the Elzion timeline after Ciel was born there. Likewise, their servants are former inhabitants of their home world sent to arrest them, but decided to stay with them after discovering what art and beauty were.]]
* InterfaceSpoiler: It's supposed to be a big shock when Shannon reveals that all the animals present in the Garden, save for her cats, are robotic [[spoiler:since the only biological life forms in their original timeline are humans]]. The fact that they drop items mechanical in nature (screws, power cells) spills the beans as soon as you win your first battle.
* {{Manchild}}: As Ciel's third character quest reveals, both of them have shades of this. [[spoiler:While they're unquestionably SickeninglySweethearts to each other, they're also rather emotionally immature that they will frequently fight over the silliest things (in Ciel's third character quest, they very nearly ''file a divorce'' over ''cake''), often necessitating their children to calm them down.]]
* TheMasquerade:
** The cat burglar who frequently visits their house and robs them of various items such as doorknobs and pillows [[spoiler:is played by Ciel's parents, who made up the whole affair to toughen up their son in case he gets kidnapped.]]
** The whole eccentric attitude of the family, while genuine, [[spoiler:helps to hide their origins from a world where even having a ''name'' is a criminal offence and arts are outlawed.]]
* SickeninglySweethearts: They shamelessly flirt with each other on-screen, and in Ciel's third character quest Aldo lampshades this by calling their being lovey-dovey "embarrassing".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rindo (unmarked spoilers for ''Return of Goddess of Time'')]]
Kikyo's DisappearedDad who went missing when she was a child and has been presumed dead for years. As it turns out, he has been imprisoned in the Prison Ship Gulfagin after his failed rebellion against KMS Eastern Division. He is a close associate of Professor Chronos.
----
* BarrierChangeBoss: [[spoiler:In Levia's upgrade quest, his clone's main body will alternate between absorbing physical attacks and magic attacks.]]
* CameBackWrong: [[spoiler:Levia's upgrade quest reveals that KMS managed to create a physical copy of him, but unable to copy the rest of himself (including his soul) due to the traps set by Professor Chronos. They worked it around by transferring [=LeA-BAK=]'s soul into him, and the party had to defeat his clone as a result.]]
* {{Cyborg}}: Rindo suffered a fatal injury at some point in the past that resulted in him losing half of his body, and he is rebuilt into a cyborg by Professor Chronos.
* ADeathInTheLimelight: He is introduced as an old friend (and close associate) of Professor Chronos in latter half of Part II, only to die not long after the party meets him.
* HornedHumanoid: One of Rindo's most notable features is his horn, which is actually part of his {{Cyborg}} implant built by Professor Chronos. It allows him to emit electromagnetic wave strong enough to decimate Delamair's ''entire'' party of cyborgs and robots sent to kill the party.
* NotTooDeadToSaveTheDay: Much to Kikyo's heartbreak, Rindo has long ceased functioning by the time the party located him in Prison Ship Gulfagin... but not enough to prevent him from helping his daughter for the last time when the party is surrounded by Delamair's cyborg army.
* PapaWolf: He willingly turned himself in and let himself be placed under solitary confinement in Gulfagin under the condition that Kikyo and the people of Angal Settlement to be left alone. When Delamair broke the term and about to kill her and the entire party after finding him, it is enough to piss Rindo off (who has ceased functioning at that point) to pull a last act of HeroicSacrifice before finally dying for good.
* RedBaron: Known as the "Hyperspeed Demon".
* RememberTheNewGuy: As noted, he is introduced as a close associate of Professor Chronos, but no hints about his existence is available whatsoever prior to his introduction - not even in Galliard and Helena's memory banks. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] since Professor Chronos went through great lengths to erase records related to Rindo after the failed rebellion against KMS Eastern Division.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:'''Spoiler Character for Final Chapter of Lost Lab Mythos''']]
!!Midnight Curio
A version of Curio who hailed from Midnight Time Layer, long thought to be dead by Midnight Isuka. In reality, he was taken in by Midnight Cardinal Vestige to fill in a vacancy for them. Following the collapse of Midnight Time Layer and the demise of Cardinal Vestige of all time layers at the hands of Dawn Curio, he offered to take charge of Cardinal Vestige's role.
----
* BigGood: While "good" is somewhat questionable due to Cardinal Vestige's role in the story, he essentially becomes this at the end of the Mythos, offering to take charge of their role to prevent KMS from completely taking over. It also helps that his view of humanity is more in line with the playable characters instead of the other Cardinal Vestiges' CondescendingCompassion.
* BrainUploading: Like all core members of Cardinal Vestige, he had long lost his physical body beyond his brain, and interacts with others either through Premaya's spare body or as hologram.
* LastEpisodeNewCharacter: He only appeared at the final chapter of ''The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales''.
* SoleSurvivor: Two-fold.
** By rejecting to join other versions of Cardinal Vestige in their plan of human degeneracy project, he ironically became this at the end, as all of the other Cardinal Vestiges were promptly offed by Dawn Curio just when it looked like they had HeelRealization.
** Given that Midnight Time Layer had been erased at the end of the story, he, Midnight Isuka, and Midnight Toova are the only known survivors of the time layer.
[[/folder]]

!!Antiquity
[[folder:Ratchett]]
A court mage serving King Palsifal and the go-to expert for anything related to magic for Aldo and team.
----
* TheArchmage: While she doesn't hold the title, Ratchett is knowledgable about almost everything related to magic, which proves helpful for both Aldo's and some of his allies' quests.
* AscendedExtra: Of sorts. She has a generic [=NPC=] sprite, but a later update gave her a character portrait to go with it.
* CoolOldLady: While not appearing ''that'' old, Ratchett's portrait has wrinkles indicating she is at least of Cyrus's age (who is presumably 37 years old), and she is always helpful to the party by the virtue of knowing everything related to magic.
* MrExposition: She's a go-to source of information about magic related issues.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Elemental Spirits]]
Salamander, Undine, Gnome, and Slyph, the four great Elemental Spirits.
----
* BigGood: They are generally the benevolent guardians of the land, humans of Antiquity relied extensively on their powers. They're helpful to Aldo on his quest, and don't hesitate to sacrifice themselves for the greater good.
* OptionalBoss: They're fought a few times in the story, but they can also be rematched at anytime.
* TheBusCameBack: After dying in act one of the game, they are [[spoiler: revived as shades in purgatory.]]
* TheCasanova: Gnome. Probably. Even Aldo is not sure whether him helping his human "wives" from various villages of Antiquity is driven by benevolence or because (as Aldo puts it) he is a total sap.
* ConstantlyCurious: Sylph seems to be rather intrigued with humans, and this extends to some of her familiars. Unfortunately, when combined with mischievousness of some of her familiars, this curiosity can spell trouble for those unfortunate enough to encounter said mischievous familiar.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: They sacrifice themselves to minimize damage from the timequake the phantom created to destory reality.]]
* LadyOfWar: Undine is graceful as befitting of a spirit representing water, and is also a formidable opponent when fought.
* TheMagicGoesAway: Magic doesn't go away completely, but magic becomes rarer after they die, and there isn't enough to sustain a lot of the other elemental spirits such as Vaschtal.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: While all four of them are established early on, only Salamander is met before their heroic sacrifice.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Queen Himika (unmarked spoilers)]]
The ruler of Gadaro and an old friend of Cyrus, she was described to have gone missing for some time when the party first visited her land. The true circumstances of her disappearance is explored in Tales from the East Part III.
----
* TheHighQueen: Of Gadaro.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Her original body possesses long white hair, befitting her status as an oracle of her land.
* NotHerself: When the party encounters her again in the Dimensional Cathedral, she is much colder than before and even retaliates when the party tries to save her as a result of TheCorruption by the darkness of the Underworld. It takes some good beating before she finally came into her senses.
* OneWingedAngel: She transforms ''twice'' into abomination that the party has to defeat when TheCorruption gets the better of her.
* SharingABody: As noted in Professor Madoka's entry, her body was lost during the Great Timequake, but her soul ended up in Madoka's body after aimlessly drifting through time. This is why Professor Madoka introduced herself as Himika instead at the end of Tales from the East Part II, as her soul is the active one at that time.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Noah and Moke]]
Melina and Thillelille's respective animal companions. No one truly knows what kind of animal each of them is exactly.
----
* ButtMonkey: Poor Moke doesn't seem to get any semblance of respect, not even from its owner Thillelille - who while does care for Moke, is also not above blaming things on Moke when things go south. Clarte seems to be the only one who is openly kind to Moke.
* CallASmeerpARabbit: [[spoiler: Noah is actually a 'rabbit' from the moon. His blue coloration is wholly unique among them, which actually makes him a symbol of the imperial family.]]
* ADayIntheLimelight: Moke gets some focus in a couple of sidequests released along with "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise" Mythos, focusing on its insecurity and self-worth. Noah later gets its own spotlight, focusing on its nature and identity.
* InformedAttribute: Downplayed with Noah. Melina describes that Noah doesn't let anyone except for her to come close to him and is rather shocked when Noah immediately becomes chummy with Clarte, but in the "Come Join Me Cutie" sidequest, he enjoys attention from the Winged People's Village women just fine.
* IJustWantToBeLoved: Basically Moke's desire based on the sidequests focusing on it. In Winged People's Village, Moke ended up running away because it feels jealous at the attention Noah and the group's cat were receiving, and in Merlot Ward, it ended up running again and tried to take a gigantic monster because it wanted to be acknowledged as worthy by Thillelille.
* MoonRabbit: [[spoiler: What Noah actually is.]]
* TeamPet: Both of them serve as this for the group in "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise" Mythos.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Seze]]
Initially introduced as the "Cage Ghost" terrorizing the Winged People and preventing them from leaving the village in Chapter 4 of "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise" Mythos, Seze eventually becomes a part of the village after Mistrare successfully breaks the curse binding them and leaving her with loss of her original purpose.
----
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: Same-sex friendship example with Mistrare, especially during the time when Seze is struggling with her loss of purpose as the "Cage Ghost".
* DefrostingIceQueen: She starts out downright hostile towards the Winged People, and even after her defeat and her HeelFaceTurn, she is still brooding thanks to her loss of purpose. She gradually warms up following the Winged People's eventual acceptance of her, though, in addition to Mistrare constantly reaching out to her, and she can be seen smiling more often in later parts of the Mythos.
* TheDreaded: She is introduced as the so-called "Cage Ghost" that terrorizes the Winged People and prevents them from ever leaving the village, so it is to be expected.
* LegacyCharacter: [[spoiler:It is revealed in Chapter 9 of the Mythos that the original Seze was in fact Judith's daughter who had been tasked to oversee the People of Paradise she betrayed and trapped underneath the Giant's Claw. In order to continue the duty, the original Seze used a technology that copied the Atlantican fishfolk's ability to reproduce asexually to create an exact copy of herself as her descendant, and this had been going on for centuries.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Minchy]]
Milsha's dolphin-like companion, who always loudly proclaims that he will marry Milsha one day. Despite this, his devotion to her seems to be genuine.
----
* TheMole: [[spoiler:He was one for the Leviathan of the Western Seas, and being the one responsible for luring Milsha's brother out and causing him to fall into Leviathan's influences and caused their mother to go missing. He is [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone genuinely remorseful]] upon realizing the consequences it had on young Milsha, though, and the reason he is now watching over her is to atone for the incident.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Geldbariss]]
Garambarrel's longtime friend in Pador, who wholeheartedly supports him and his desire to travel the world outside their village.
----
* BashBrothers: With Garam. Garam always trusts Geldbariss to have his back, [[spoiler:even during their brief falling out in Garam's third character quest]].
* ForcedTransformation: [[spoiler:He briefly turned into an ogre when exposed to the dark miasma from the gate in Demon's Den. Thankfully, Garam reaching out to him after some beating manages to turn him back to normal, although as Garam's third character quest shows, it weighs quite a bit on him for some time.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pip]]
A mysterious small creature that the party rescued from the broken iceberg in the beginning of ''The 3000 Realm Ark and the Sea Abyss'' episode. He doesn't remember anything about himself and where he comes from, but seems to be dead-set to go to the Glacial Place for some reasons.
----
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:The climax of the ''3000 Year Ark'' episode starts with him hatching a plan to collect the party's collective Celestial Souls and then let himself get killed by the Leviathan Heart, causing it to self-destruct for violating its core function.]]
* InterruptedSuicide: [[spoiler:In Chapter 2 of ''The 3000 Year Ark of the Sea Abyss'', upon realizing that his presence alone may have been responsible for the destruction of crimson corals protecting the Glacial Place settlements, he tries to run himself into Milsha's spear. Thankfully, Nagi and the rest of the party stops him before he can go through it.]]
* NotHimself: There are moments when Pip becomes unaware of his own actions, in addition to his {{Sleepwalking}} habit. Needless to say, it scares him when he becomes aware of it.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: He is shaped like a dumbo octopus and is very friendly to everyone, thus immediately earning him the affection of the party and the inhabitants of Siren's Village alike.
* PokemonSpeak: Only speaks "pip" and its variants, hence where his name comes from. The party except for Nagi cannot understand what he says, though they are able to understand his emotions to certain degree.
[[/folder]]

!!Spacetime Rift
[[folder:Gallery Master]]
A mysterious individual who presided over the Gallery of Dreams, he grants Aldo the ability to call on allies from throughout time and space to aid him in his quest. [[spoiler: He is actually one of Aldo's future selves.]]
----
* ActuallyIAmHim: [[spoiler: More like Actually I Am You. He reveals himself as one of Aldo's future selves.]]
* EyesOutOfSight: His face is obscured by long bangs, in addition to a full beard. [[spoiler:While the hair color is real, the beard itself is fake and serve to disguise his face as an elderly version of Aldo.]]
* GreaterScopeParagon: After the events of chapter 17, he appears to Aldo to spur him into action and can potentially protect him in battle. [[spoiler:He's also the one who taught Vares how to sharpen and reinforce Palsifal's swords, as well as the one personally transporting him to Beast King's Castle to stop Guildna when the latter fell to the Phantom's thrall.]]
* InTheHood: He's draped in a blue hooded cloak.
* MeaningfulName: [[spoiler:His true name, Aldo, is Italian for "elder". A fitting name for him, actually.]]
* WizardBeard: Wears a white beard to befit his wizardly appearance. [[spoiler:The beard is actually a fake.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Barkeep]]
The bartender at Time's Forgotten Stop. When Aldo first ends up in the Spacetime Rift, he explains to Aldo how to get back to his own time period. [[spoiler: Like the Gallery Master, he's one of Aldo's future selves.]]
----
* ActuallyIAmHim: [[spoiler: More like Actually I Am You. He reveals himself as one of Aldo's future selves.]]
* CassandraTruth: In an optional conversation that can be viewed by visiting his bar between completing the Tower of Stars and the Dimensional Vortex, he tries to tell Aldo that [[spoiler: Aldo isn't really Eden as he had been led to believe]], but it doesn't accomplish anything.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: His name has not been stated, so he is only referred to by titles. [[spoiler:That is, until the Goddess of Time Part 3 reveals that it's Aldo.]]
* HeroOfAnotherStory: [[spoiler:He's an alternate Aldo who ended up having multiple adventures before settling down and making the Time's Forgotten Stop.]]
* INeverToldYouMyName: He knew Aldo's name when they first met, indicating that there is more to him than meets the eye. [[spoiler: Of course, it would make no sense if he didn't know his own name or recognize himself.]]
* SunglassesAtNight: He always wears sunglasses, even in the dimly lit bar in the spacetime rift, where it is always night. [[spoiler:This, along with his mustache and hair, serve to hide his true appearance as an older version of Aldo.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Nameless Girl (unmarked spoilers)]]
!!Sophie
A girl that stands outside the door to Another Dungeon, and provides an introduction for the mechanic. Her memory is a bit fuzzy, so she doesn't know who she is. By completing Another Dungeon runs, Aldo can return pieces of her memory.
----
* AmnesiacDissonance: She's amiable towards Aldo when they meet, even though her mission is to kill him, because she doesn't remember her mission well enough.
* ChekhovsGunman: Years after her initial introduction, she's finally revealed to be a product of the Sapient Complex from a different time layer, and while trying to unlock her memories she becomes the final boss in a line of {{Superboss}}es tied to Curio's unique weapon.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: The only memory she has at the start is of being rocked in a dark and lonely world. Clearing the EPS series fights eventually reveals more of her circumstances: she is the daughter of the future version of the scientist that helped Aldo and Curio to track down the EPS weapons from an alternate time layer, eventually sacrificed by her parents into becoming test subject of Sapient Complex Lab 1 in order to save their time layer due to her ability observe all time layers, but she was lost during a space-time storm.
* HoldTheLine: During her first boss fight, she continuously empties your Another Force bar and resists everything. You have to hold out for about fifteen turns before she starts hesitating. When she does, your Another Force gauge fills completely and she becomes weak to everything.
* IWarnedYou: She warns Aldo that something terrible will happen if she gets all her memories back. When she tries to kill him later, she reminds him that she did warn him.
* LaserGuidedTykeBomb: The entire point of her existence is to kill Aldo.
* NominalImportance: Subverted. She has no name and uses the generic present era little girl sprite, but she has a notable side quest. The generic appearance turns out to be justified -- she is deliberately dressed that way so she can get close to Aldo without raising alarm.
* OptionalBoss: Clear 1000 AD runs and talk to her again. If you're not ready, expect to get wiped.
* PowerNullifier: During her boss fight, she seals off the player's access to Another Force by constantly emptying the bar.
* PuzzleBoss: ARPX-Sophie cannot be defeated by normal means, as she will revive indefinitely despite having paper-thin defenses, unleashing an increasingly stronger attack on each revival. Instead, you're supposed to split your damage between the Level 140 Elements that she summons for the fight, doing enough damage to interrupt their charged attacks without killing them. Do this a total of 10 times and the fight will end.
* RoboticReveal: During the cutscene before her boss fight begins, she explains that she's a mechanical assassin sent from a future that Aldo had unwittingly erased, and his expeditions in the Another Dungeon door had been feeding her information of his fighting techniques. However, this is subverted following the conclusion of her second boss fight after defeating all other EPS weapons -- she IS a human after all, just one with omnipresent ability to observe all time layers.

One of the Thunder King's generals, he is in charge of the Thundering Fortress. The fall of his soldiers in the decisive battle of Thundering Fortress caused time to loop itself.
----
* ToughLove: [[spoiler:He is very harsh on his way of raising Orleya, but all of it stems from his fear of failing to protect his only granddaughter the same way he failed on protecting his daughter and son-in-law. Realizing this is what eventually pushed Orleya to finally stop running away and help to lead their soldiers to victory.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Marie '''(unmarked spoilers for Vortex Apocrypha Chapter 5)''']]
A woman living in Gospel Island with her ten foster children. Ensuring her and her foster children's survival becomes the central goal of Chapter 5.
----
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: She used to be decried as devil's child by villagers of Gospel Island due to being born blind, and she would be fed nothing but foods from the island (all of which are ''highly poisonous at best'') as part of the torture. It was not until her purifying powers manifested that the villagers began revering her as saint instead.
* BecomingTheMask: The way her foster children were raised and Marie's own claims make it look like she doesn't care at all about her as individuals. And yet, how much this holds true becomes questionable in the original ending of the chapter, where despite all of her children had been turned into completely identical {{Humanoid Abomination}}s, she is still able to completely distinguish each other and remember who is who, indicating that she indeed cares for them despite her claims.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: She seems like a kind and motherly young woman at first, but beneath that lies a ''very'' bitter and vengeful individual who ultimately cares for nothing but herself. Once her motives became clear, she no longer hides the fact that she is more than willing to kill Aldo, Nona, and Mariel just to retain the status quo of her "paradise".
* BeingTorturedMakesYouEvil: "Evil" is somewhat questionable here and more of "incredibly selfish", but it's clear that the ''horrible'' treatment of the villagers towards her before she manifested her purifying powers really didn't do a good number for her, as she was ultimately shaped into caring for nothing but her own happiness after being denied of it for so long.
* InterspeciesRomance: With the White Phantom Ivan. They eventually became StarCrossedLovers due to Ivan dying at the end of the story after using up his powers in his countless doomed attempts to save her and her children, although he did turn into a sword to protect her.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: She is dangerously good at throwing call-outs others give to her -- particularly from Mariel -- back into them.
* UnwantedRescue: She views Aldo and Nona's attempt to save her and her children as this, and is ''not at all'' happy that her "paradise" has been disturbed.

!!Multiple Eras
[[folder:The Macminal Family]]
A dynasty of history buffs and traders who flourished during the present era, but also known for being incredibly naive, causing them to hit a dry spell in the future era, leading to the closure of the Nilva Museum they own...
----
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: The family's flaw, causing them to lose all of their money to con artists.
* GoneHorriblyRight: Aldo and Amy take steps to ensure the Macminal family will keep their museum open. As a result, when [[spoiler:the Chrono Clan]] starts targeting it, the Macminals release ''monsters'' in the museum.
* IdenticalGrandson: The founder of the dynasty looks exactly like his descendant in Elzion, 800 years later.
* IntrepidMerchant: The Macminal founder hones up his trade skills by working with the Nopaew Clan... At the Ancient Battlefield.
* TrustPassword: Aldo is able to convince Macminal that the museum brochure from the future is legitimate because [[spoiler: the museum emblem was one that he chose secretly to use if he ever was successful enough to start a museum.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Nopaew Clan]]
A clan of small humanoid creatures known for setting up as merchants and traders in the most remote places, dealing in odd wares.
----
* BizarreAlienBiology: In the "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise", it is revealed that they don't have to eat physical food to survive unlike humans - rather, they can eat "memories" from objects around them. This is how some of them are able to live in the otherwise hostile Barbera Untrodden Region.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: The Nopaew Clan has completely different culture from humans that things those are normally seen as unacceptable for humans are seen as normal by them. For example, in "Song of Sword and Wings of Lost Paradise", the they will readily claim things those fall in their territory as theirs - regardless whether the actual owner is there or not - and see no problem with it.
* DarkIsNotEvil: They possess "shadow" similarly to how the elves have "radiance", but are not evil.
* IntelligibleUnintelligible: Humans can't understand their speech and vice versa, but humans and Nopaew are capable of reading each others hearts, allowing communication.
* TheNameless: With one exception, the Nopaew do not have names. [[spoiler: Giving a name to a Nopaew is a taboo, and breaking that taboo corrupts the namer.]]
* PlantHair: Under their hoods, they have what looks like leaves for hair.
* ProudMerchantRace: They set up a forge ''and'' a bazaar in the Spacetime Rift and also excavate artifacts from the Ancient Battlefield to sell them to archaeologists.
* SdrawkcabName: It's "weapon" backwards.

[[folder:The World Tree (unmarked spoilers for the "Celestial Tower and the Shadow Witch")]]
Initially appearing in "The Celestial Tower and the Shadow Witch" episode as the Tree of Woe, it is first introduced as a gigantic tree with capability to destroy the world after it became corrupted. It purified itself at the end of the episode and causing the barren lands of Rucyana Sands to become lush once more, and continues to exist in the future as the Tree of Eternity floating near Nilva.
----
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: In Philo's third character quest, it is revealed that [[spoiler:it mistook Benedict's repeated attempts to cut it down as his way of communicating with the tree using his axe, hence why it gave birth to Philo in the first place to "carry on his will". Granted, [[AnthropomorphicPersonification Philo]] and Benedict ''did'' manage to communicate through their weapons, so in a way the communication has been achieved.]]
* SpannerInTheWorks: The Shadow Witch was more than ready to use the Tree of Woe's power to destroy the world... only for the tree to purify ''itself'' from the corruption. This allows the darkness holding Reptires' soul to weaken so she can finally be freed.
