* ''VideoGame/MortalKombat1992'' as a whole has some pretty good tunes, but the Genesis port remixed almost all of the music to fit the Genesis' sound chip. And it did so damn fine, courtesy of expert Genesis composer Matt Furniss. To give an example, here's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1a1VQ5CelwQ his take on the game's main menu theme]]. His themes are so beloved by fans that some consider his arrangements ''better'' than even Dan Forden's original versions. The music in the Genesis port of the ''VideoGame/MortalKombatII'' was also composed by him ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gt6RsyZfDU here's the Dead Pool theme from that version]]).
%%* ''VideoGame/MortalKombat3'' has one the best soundtracks in the franchise, with several stage tunes reused later, like, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjBVwjTOxmk The Roof]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43qGbLgbYj0 The Grave Yard]], and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBNH6YrIt2M The Subway]], the latter getting a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_U2x2iuHdg great remix]] by Dan Forden, the composer for ''Deadly Alliance''.
* ''VideoGame/MortalKombatDeadlyAlliance'' has a dark, intense and atmospheric soundtrack that perfectly matched with the franchise's resurrection in the 2000s, courtesy of Dan Forden, Rich Carle and Vince Pontarelli.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJOnatQ2SFE "Lost Tomb"]] is one of the game's standout tracks, with a threatening techno beat and percussion mixed with creepy synth patterns.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-W7Ozwhupg "Kuatan Palace"]] uses a slow-paced, incredibly eerie electronic track that evokes a truly evil vibe. Possibly one of the darkest tracks in the entire series.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGdRKRk9abw "Shang Tsung's Palace/Nethership"]] works as a fitting theme for Shang Tsung, provoking his imposing and dangerous aura.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXC1JGWqcj0 "Lava Shrine"]] has an energetic, old-school 90s rave theme that will remind fans of the movies.
* ''VideoGame/MortalKombatDeception'' continues the dark and threatening style of ''Deadly Alliance''[='=]s sound, albeit without Dan Forden working on the music. That being said, the soundtrack still stands on its own while retaining the series' spirit.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyIrM200lhM "The character select music"]]. A hip-hop beat mixed with industrial rock that fits the game well and gets you pumped for a fight.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIxOyh1eMZE "The Portal"]] sees an update to the original early 90s sound of ''Mortal Kombat 2'' that lends to the stage's atmosphere.
* ''VideoGame/MortalKombatArmageddon'' may not stand out for its music, but it still has plenty of bangers, even if they're hard to hear over the background noises, like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiE19113HJ8 The Belltower]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOT7DePOmk0 Tekunin Prison]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxzuq_3QhGo The Wastelands]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgVKsrX0EkM The Firewell]], and the rocking track for the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_r0oH60PJs Hell]] stage. However, ''Armageddon''[='=]s surprise ''[[RacingMiniGame Motor Kombat]]'' minigame brings a great number of faster-paced musical tracks while still feeling like part of the franchise, such as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MuUxD4sDj8 Lin Kuei Raceway]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo3Ad3qu6Ss Outworld Refinery]], and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3-A55k3QMU The Lost Pyramid]].
* ''VideoGame/MortalKombatX'':
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z60qzCEAzE The main theme.]] Makes you want to hang around the menus for a while and prepare for the upcoming fight.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doF0b7StpT0 "The Destroyed City"]], one of the more popular themes on the soundtrack, and a good throwback to the style of music featured in the 3D fighting games.
%%** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NF3C_UYLCtk Round 1 music for the Jinsei Chamber stage.]]
* ''VideoGame/MortalKombat11'':
** The trailer for Geras' reveal uses a brutal instrumental version of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgIRnD9ZTds "Decimator"]] by All Good Things.
** The launch trailer has a pretty impressive remix of the classic "Mortal Kombat" theme.
** The Tournament stage in the game itself uses a different, but no less kickass version of the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt_RgXMmtlA "Techno Syndrome"]].
** For the stage music themselves, a lot of fans particularly like the somber "Shang Tsung's Island Ruins" and the trap-meets-metal of "Black Dragon Fight Club".
** Shao Kahn's trailer uses the balls-crushingly ''[[https://youtu.be/QwY6YDulZpY awesome]]'' "Soul Crusher" by Liquid Cinema.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_t5GcL1oWk "Rise"]] plays during the start of the credits. Listen closely, and you'll realize it's a remix of the song used in the debut trailer. Coming off Story Mode's ending, it truly does feel make you feel like you've witnessed the end of an era.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKqYr-DkDNE Spawn's trailer]] uses two songs; a pitched down version of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NPKGYbcuCM "IX"]] and a ''spine-chilling'' instrumental of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jeYL942I9s "Scattering the Ashes"]].
%%** "Check Yo Self" by Music/IceCube, heard in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbMqcFvtMN8 "Old Skool vs. New Skool" Trailer]].
* ''VideoGame/MortalKombat1'':
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKKqxe9oyCM "The Teahouse (Day)"]] pays homage to the first two games of the series by incorporating their motifs and mixing them with a variety of strings and percussion for an authentic Eastern feel. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMduUIAWS8U The Night variation]] has a more intense sound, with added plucked strings and sounds of bells ringing to show that this teahouse is a place of battle, no matter the time of day.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4HbcPY87Kc "Tarkatan Colony"]] is an excellent mix of intense and mysterious, with its mix of heavy, pounding percussion and tribal horns in the first round, a perfect fit for the brutality of the Tarkatans. The subsequent round's music makes the tribal influence even more prominent by ramping up the tempo and adding some strings for an even more intense track.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0R3gn0xADQ "Cage Mansion"]] brings back the techno feel of the 3D Midway era and intermixes it with '80s-style motifs, with heavy synths and pulsing beats, perfectly fitting the showboating personality of Johnny Cage.
* ''VideoGame/MortalKombatMythologiesSubZero'': [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1Dlrq2rDSE Quan Chi]]'s boss theme is an intense, threatening tune, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1Dlrq2rDSE Shinnok]]'s subsequent fight having a track that is somehow both ethereal and groovy, until it [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VR6_Kex6NWM kicks into high gear]] during the Beast/Corrupted Shinnok phase, as short (and difficult) as it is.
* ''VideoGame/MortalKombatSpecialForces'' is divisive, but its [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T1EeAHIFMU intro]] has an awesome spy feel to it. It could shine brighter in a different game, though...
* ''Film/MortalKombatTheMovie''[='=]s soundtrack is ''still'' the best-selling game-to-movie soundtrack ever and was the fastest EDM album ever to reach 1 million sales in the U.S. at the time, doing it in 10 days. Besides [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn8KlZF5Jc8 the main theme]], there's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU7gPxDsFjE the remix of said theme]] by Music/UtahSaints, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiaV61CLMfQ the instrumental version of "Control"]] that plays while Liu Kang and Reptile are fighting, "Halycon and On and On"... and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
* Even as bad as [[Film/MortalKombatAnnihilation the second movie]] is, the music is still awesome. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dePaRih9Kzs The redone theme]] is a highlight.
* One of ''WesternAnimation/MortalKombatDefendersOfTheRealm''[='=]s stronger points was Jonathan Sloate's score. Just listen to the [[https://youtu.be/0n6Der8xIts?t=19m35s ending theme]] (which is a SuspiciouslySimilarSong to the movie's main theme).
%%** The second episode also uses Psykosonik's "It Has Begun" and "Deeper Down" by Sister Machine Gun.
