* Obviously, seeing as they are radio stations. Rockstar usually goes through pains to appropriately pick contemporary and appropriate music for each station. Special mention goes to K-ROSE in San Andreas. It's country, but somehow it works when you're driving through the woods.
* To get an idea of just how much this trope applies, look up the Website/YouTube video for any song ever featured in GTA Radio and check out the comments. If you can make it through the first page without seeing at least three comments about GTA, you've reached the low end of the spectrum.

* "Grand Theft Auto", also being a TitleDrop. Reused in III (as "Joyride" in parentheses), composed by Craig Conner. It even appears as the pager's ringtone in III and IV
* "Four Letter Love" is a spot on pastiche of hard rock songs from TheEighties Sunset Strip scene complete with a killer guitar solo.
* London 1969's intro, "Le Malizie di Venere - Seq. 3" by Gianfranco Reverberi. While the psychedelic tone is very fitting for the time and setting of the game, the song comes from a movie of the same name that was released in 1969, making this one of the earliest examples of licensed songs used in a GTA title and setting a precedent for the next generation of the series, especially concerning the retro setting of Vice City following right after III.

* The main theme, which is probably the most relaxed of all theme songs in the series, is a beautiful jazz composition that really conveys the spirit of urban decay.
* A remix of "O Mio Babbino Caro" created by Hudson Mohawke for the 10th Anniversary Edition trailer of GTA III. It serves as a modernized remix of an Italian opera, befitting the Italian-American mafioso theme and the remaster of a timeless classic. It was used again for the announcement of the Definitive Edition of the 3D Trilogy, serving as a tearjerkingly nostalgic theme for the celebration of Grand Theft Autos golden age.

* The main theme is pure gold! Also, this version performed by Young Maylay (CJ's voice actor himself!) along with 2Pac and Eazy E.
* The C.R.A.S.H. theme, played whenever Tenpenny is onscreen. While it's a short, quiet loop, it's still a dark tune, perfectly summing up how much of an absolute jerkass Tenpenny is.
%%* K-DST features Music/DavidBowie, Music/TheWho, , Music/CreedenceClearwaterRevival, Music/LynyrdSkynyrd and .
%%* Radio X features , Music/TheStoneRoses, Music/AliceInChains, Music/OzzyOsbourne, Music/RageAgainstTheMachine and Music/GunsNRoses.

* The main theme, "A Dark March". really fits the mafia-themed story, almost sounding like it came from Series/TheSopranos.

* The main theme is one of the more uplifting and catchiest of all theme songs in the series, as a Jan Hammer-style NewWaveMusic theme, capturing the 80's atmosphere perfectly.

* "No Sex For Ben" by The Rapture, a song from Radio Broker. Despite the DarkerAndEdgier nature of the game, you can't deny that the song is incredibly funny, laughable and silly. The fact that it is one of the most memorable songs in the game certainly helps. Radio Broker in general is a novelty for anyone who has ever played the previous games. This makes sense, since the game takes place in 2008. Also, given that provided not only the production but also the beatboxing in the track, it's also just a great piece to dance to.
* The main theme, "Soviet Connection". It fits appropriately to the dark and gloomy nature of the game.
* The music that plays over the pause menu. It's a very subdued and empty piece, and it sums up the tragic tone of the story perfectly.
%%* The actual licensed tracks like the Music/ViktorTsoi hit, "Blood Type".
%%* And the end credits songs (Grand Theft Auto IV main theme, "Inside the Cage" by Juliette and the Licks, "New York Groove" by Hello, "Get Innocuous" by LCD Soundsystem, and "King Ring" by Seryoga).

* The main theme, but especially the incredibly soothing, beautiful and haunting pause music, which is a slower remix of the main theme.
* No Security which plays during the final mission.
* Music/BustaRhymes' "Arab Money", basically Yusif Amir's theme song, is all kinds of awesome.
