* Music/JerryGoldsmith's score for the first film is fantastic, contributing to its eerie and tense atmosphere. The gorgeous [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9egQyLpEyI main theme]] manages to be bleak, desolate and terrifying as well as romantic and sweeping ''at the same time.''
* The excerpt of Howard Hanson's Second Symphony ("The Romantic") played in the final scene and closing credits of the first film - simultaneously triumphant, calming, and otherwordly.
* Music/JamesHorner's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVuo0lM4qio action score]] for ''Aliens'' can be heard in countless trailers (points for only having a few weeks to do it and no finished film to write for). His [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-jGrL7U09Y main title]] is also very good, with an excellent Khachaturian ShoutOut.
* Music/ElliotGoldenthal's score for ''Alien 3'', especially "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICdx6bVQgoY Adagio]]", is the best part of the film.
* John Frizzell's ''Alien Resurrection'' uses lots of great themes to create a really interwoven score that creates an oppressive and disturbing mood (especially with the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4FoCouX9ZA Main Title]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uolmeuOSzWk Ripley Meets Her Clones]]), as well as some great frantic action music ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1W_plPb3T8 They Swim...]]) and some tragically beautiful tracks ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGoB_BlumG8 The Abduction]]). The eerie quality of the music only lets up at the very end with an incredible [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZROrJk3qs4 Finale]]. The whole score is worth listening to, really.
* ''Prometheus'' also has some really strong music in it. If there was ever a piece of music that perfectly represents the sheer awe and majesty of creation, then Harry Gregson Williams' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzI3AdpA9e4 "Life"]] is it. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x83SXBc1sV0 "Earth"]] could count as well. The film's other prominent theme composed by Marc Streitenfeld, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhlHqANcKjU "A Planet",]] is also very mysterious, melancholic, and beautiful at the same time.
* With ''Alien: Covenant'', Jed Kurzel paid some really great homage to the late Jerry Goldsmith with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRbPy1tpOP8 "The Covenant"]]and the romantic-sounding [[https://youtu.be/cfpETeCbcEE "Planet 4/Main Theme"]].
