* Superman and Luthor in "Men of Steel".
-->'''Superman:''' Today, you thought you saw me at the limit of my power. Sorry, Luthor... I was only at the limit of yours!
* "If I Ruled the World". Superman outsmarts a fifth-dimension-fueled Parasite ''and'' Mxyzptlk within two panels of each other. He may be most famous for his SuperStrength, but this hero is definitely not just DumbMuscle...
* "Dominoes":
** Mxyzptlk has been rewinding time from a disaster that destroyed Metropolis. Now Superman has actually found the root cause of everything that went wrong that day. Mxy taunts him about how he's going to see the city blow up twice, and Supes snaps back at him to go away, deliberately mispronouncing his name. Mxy screams the correct pronunciation at him -- twice -- and disappears, because time was going backwards, meaning his pronunciation of his name was backwards.
** Superman manages to run back to nip the disaster in the bud -- [[FightOffTheKryptonite despite suffering badly from Kryptonite exposure]]. He may have blacked out right at the end, but he did manage to reach his destination and prevent the disaster[[note]]if only because the boys ran over to check on him, preventing one from running into the street after their ball[[/note]] in spite of being on the verge of collapse for much of the final stretch.
* "Family Reunion" sees Superman displaced to what he initially believes to be a future where he's been gone for a year and a Kryptonian city has come to Earth, with its inhabitants including Jor-El and Lara. However, once it's revealed that he's in an alternate reality where Lara has brainwashed the "local" Superman and Supergirl to help her army conquer Earth, Superman- despite being physically normal in this city- breaks out of his cell with the aid of Jor-El's counterpart, and then helps his alternate enemies (Luthor, Metallo, Parasite, etc.) drive the Kryptonians back to their city.
** A somewhat darker but still awesome moment follows; [[spoiler:the alternate Jor-El, recognising that Superman wouldn't approve of his plans, subsequently destroys his own city to generate the explosive force necessary to send Superman back home, sacrificing the last Kryptonians in his universe to help another reality he'll never see because he recognises that his people are too dangerous to be allowed to continue]].
* #41 might be Creator/MarkMillar's crowning moment as a writer: ''22 Stories In A Single Bound'', an entire issue where each page is a perfectly complete, self-contained story.
* In "War Games", in spite of Livewire successfully stopping the countdown of the world's nuclear arsenal and helping save the world, Brainiac reveals there was one ICBM not included in the countdown, because it had already been launched -- and it's heading right for Metropolis. Superman flies away, furious; Brainiac uses it as [[MustLetThemGetAway an excuse to escape relatively unscathed in his ship]], knowing that, even with his super-speed, Clark wouldn't risk losing a second of time fighting while his city was in imminent danger. Fortunately, he never seemed to consider just ''where'' Superman would redirect the missile once he had his hands on it, and how determined he would be to see Brainiac destroyed.
-->'''Brainiac:''' Computer, set a course for Alpha Centauri. There is a sterile world in that system we can assimilate while we upgrade and devise a strategy for our victorious return to Earth.\
'''Computer:''' Brainiac, interference with our radar screens -- there is something difficult to identify heading in our direction.\
'''Brainiac:''' [[LittleNo No.]]\
''[The ship and Brainiac are both obliterated in a huge exospheric blast]''\
