!!Kipling's Jungle Books

* When Shere Khan demands that the "man cub" that has crawled into the den of Mother and Father Wolf be returned to him. "It is I, Shere Khan, who speaks!" Mother Wolf says, "And it is I, Raksha [the demon] who answers!" Her answer is no, and Shere Khan hastily backs down.
* Kaa's introduction story. The plot summary is that Mowgli is kidnapped by the Bandar-log (i.e., monkeys) and Bagheera asks Kaa for help since he's the only creature they really fear in the jungle. When they get in the Bandar-log's place (an abandoned rock temple), they have trapped the boy inside a rocky room full of venomous snakes. How does Kaa gets the boy out? By ramming his head on the wall until it falls! And after all is done and the boy saved, he starts an intricate dance that hypnotizes the Bandar-log (and nearly catches Baloo and Bagheera as well, until Mowgli snaps them out of it). When they're close enough and the rest of the good guys are far away, he starts the "Dance of Hungry Kaa".
--> Kaa (to Mowgli): Go swiftly, for the moon sets, and what follows it is not well that thou shouldst see.
* Kaa himself. Especially in "Red Dog". Case in point:
--> Kaa (to Mowgli): I have seen a hundred and a hundred rains. Ere Hathi cast his milk-tushes my trail was big in the dust. By the First Egg I am older than many trees, and I have seen all the Jungle has done. [...] I have seen all the dead seasons, and the great trees and the old elephants, and the rocks that were bare and sharp-pointed ere the moss grew. Art thou still alive, Manling?
* Bagheera also qualifies. If you are more familiar with the Disney version, you might be surprised at just what a formidable panther he originally is. His cunning, understanding of human nature, and boldness made him more feared than Shere Khan, yet his devotion to the Law of the Jungle made him more respected than the tiger as well.
* Akela may be old, but he's still a wolf and completely formidable along with being wise.
** In "Mowgli's Brothers", he implies that three wolves would die before he was taken down due to the wolves' custom of challenging the leader one-by-one. It's enough to make everyone else back off.
** In "Tiger! Tiger!" he helps Mowgli herd the buffalo to kill Shere Khan, is able to pin Buldeo and make him paralyzed with fear while Mowgli skins the tiger, then stands calmly by while he and Mowgli are getting pelted with stones before ushering them both away.
** Akela makes a vicious last stand in "Red Dog" and kills a few of the dhole pack himself before he takes too many wounds and falls.
* "Letting In The Jungle", or why you do not piss off a NatureHero. On learning that his adoptive mother has been beaten by her village and they plan to torture and burn her alive with her husband, Mowgli rescues her, has Bagheera scare the crap out of the village, and then arranges for its complete and utter destruction by, well, letting in the jungle, first over several days by herding all the herbivores into the crops, then getting Hathi and his sons into the village to tear it all down.
* Non-Mowgli stories:
** Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is faced with a terrible option: either stay still and let Nagaina bite one of the family he's been living with, or attempt to attack and she'll immediately lunge after the child Teddy who first found him knocked out. Rikki-Tikki turns the entire thing around by taunting Nagaina with the only egg he didn't destroy from Nagaina's nesting patch... turning her from gloating into panicked in mere seconds.
** The White Seal - Kotick discovers a new beach where the seals won't be caught by fur-traders. No one believes him and they all make fun of him for the quest, so he immediately starts thrashing the other bachelor seals. Enough that his father, already somewhat renowned on the beach, is impressed enough to believe him and starts going up to his defense. Two seals take on a beach where it's implied millions of seals harbor and use it as a nursery for their young and win.

!!Jungle Book Shonen Mowgli
* Just Bagheera in this incarnation, which stays true to the book as a master hunter in the jungle. In one episode, he even knocks out a rhino with a swipe from his paw.
* In episode 8, Baloo battles with a mugger crocodile to protect Mowgli who has been ensnared in a bear trap. And while the two are battling, three more crocs come after the boy... only for Kaa to suddenly burst out of the water and order them to back off, which they do.
* In the few times they encounter each other, Shere Khan is clearly fearful of Kaa and won't dare to lay a claw on his scales, for good reason. This is in stark contrast to the Disney version.
* Haithi asserting his authority in episode 22, breaking up the duel between Shere Khan and Mowgli to preserve the water truce and forcing the tiger to back off for once again violating the law of the jungle by hunting man.
