1* From 1977-1979, the group released six singles: "How Deep is Your Love," "Stayin' Alive," "Night Fever," "Too Much Heaven," "Tragedy" and "Love You Inside Out." All six reached No. 1 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, the first time that had happened (they were topped in 1988, when Whitney Houston made it seven straight with "So Emotional").
2** For those who have read the various books by ''Billboard'' chart historian Joel Whitburn, Robin Gibb's 1978 single – "Oh! Darling," a non-disco ballad from the ''Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'' movie – is listed under the Bee Gees' entry, in between "Night Fever" and "Too Much Heaven." "Oh! Darling" reached No. 15 ... but despite being listed under the Bee Gees, is not considered a Bee Gees single and thus is not counted as having divided the Bee Gees' consecutive No. 1 singles streak.
3* One record that has not been matched: Barry Gibb being the writer of four straight songs to peak at No. 1 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 during the spring of 1978: the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive"; "Love is Thicker Than Water" by Andy Gibb; "Night Fever," once again by the Bee Gees, and "If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman. From February 4 to May 13 – 15 straight weeks – a Barry Gibb-penned song was at No. 1. Barry Gibb went on to spend nine more weeks at No. 1 as a songwriter during 1978, those songs coming with Andy Gibb's "Shadow Dancing" and Frankie Valli's "Grease." Collectively, he spent 48 weeks at No. 1 as a songwriter ... a feat not even Music/TheBeatles can claim.
4* The beat to "Stayin' Alive" is the ideal rhythm for chest compressions when doing CPR, and the song is being used for first aid training. That's right, "Stayin' Alive" is actually saving lives. How awesome is that?
