* FridgeBrilliance: Theana's quick execution, in spite of her great power, makes sense when one considers The Citizenry have incorporated Oan technology into their weapon systems. Oan technology reacts to will power, which Theana is running low on after Diana spent the better part of the issue breaking her psychologically. [[WrongForTheRightReasons This was done to subdue Theana without either one of them suffering serious physical harm]]. Diana, [[DramaticIrony not understanding why Citizenry weaponry is so oddly familiar to her]], [[FridgeSadness doesn't even realize just how direct her role in Theana's death was]]. Some things are better off not known.

* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: In ''[[ComicBook/WonderWoman2006 Warkiller]]'', Diana realizes that Genocide has used her EmotionBomb powers to poison [[ComicBook/WonderGirl Donna Troy]]'s mind, causing her to fly into a delusional, UnstoppableRage when in proximity to the Golden Lasso of Truth. Without hesitation, Diana tosses her IconicItem into the sea.
--> '''Diana:''' It is a glorious thing. But it is still a possession. You are my ''sister.'' And all the gifts from the gods that have ever been aren't worth a strand of your hair.

* CompleteMonster: [[DarkActionGirl Astarte]], the renegade Amazon, swiftly proved herself the nastiest villain of Creator/GailSimone's run. After usurping command of the nomadic intergalactic army known as The Citizenry, Astarte transformed what had been a largely pacific collective into a rampaging horde that destroyed and cannibalized the populaces of entire planets; kidnapped, genetically modified, and raped men for reproductive purposes; and indoctrinated stolen girls into becoming loyal slave-soldiers for Astarte's wars. Having [[AbusiveParents put her daughter]], Theana, through TrainingFromHell--forcing her to murder one hundred other children or starve--Astarte kept her caged like an animal, only turning her loose when Wonder Woman threatened her invasion of Earth. When Diana started getting through to Theana, Astarte ordered her daughter [[OffingTheOffspring executed]].

* StrangledByTheRedString: Diana is suddenly involved in a relationship with Nemesis (Tom Tresser), a new co-worker and long-time minor DC character. Many fans felt this new hookup was rushed at best, especially since Tom was considerably more boorish than in previous appearances. Their relationship falls apart when Tom learns Diana likes him but does not consider herself to be in love with him.

* HarsherInHindsight: Gail Simone once wrote an issue during her run where Diana was annoyed with a film that turned her into the daughter of Zeus and made her and the rest of the Amazons into a bunch of {{Straw Feminist}}s. Now, not only has [[Comicbook/WonderWoman2011 the New 52]] retconned Wonder Woman into being the daughter of Zeus and given the Amazons a rather violent disdain towards men, but ''Film/WonderWoman2017'' has decided to use this version of Diana's origin.

* RomanticPlotTumor: Diana's romance with (Nemesis) Tom Tresser was not well received, especially given he was an obvious stand in for her traditional blonde, blue-eyed, American superspy love interest ComicBook/SteveTrevor who in this continuity was married off to Etta Candy to make room for Diana to have other boyfriends. Amusingly in Diana's next series the BigBad is named Nemesis.

* {{Anvilicious}}: Gail Simone mocked the tendency for the character to be depicted as this in her run on the book; Wonder Woman sees a movie based on herself and is embarrassed to discover that it depicts her as a StrawFeminist who constantly gives {{Narm}}-filled rants about the superiority of women.
