* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: It can be hard to invest emotionally in the TV series when just every MonsterOfTheWeek plot ends up with everyone involved dead, worse than dead or in Miyu's dream realm.

* LesYay: In the manga, the difference between how Reiha treats Ranka and Miyu is very... extreme. When Ranka is injured in the process of sheilding Miyu from her wrath, Reiha becomes very courtly and [[IKissYourHand kisses her wounded hand]]. Ranka's reaction to this is a shudder.
** In the TV series there's also the episode ''Love of the Dolls'' where an artist and her assistant end up pretty explicitly in a relationship together. [[ValuesDissonance Oddly enough, it gave the impression that the viewer should view this as bad or bittersweet ending]], even though their previous dysfunctional relationship had turned pretty wholesome after becoming romantic.

Well, he's [[spoiler: ChekhovsGunman Shinma that gave her and Miyu the trinkets that kept Miyu from sensing Chisato's growing Shinma energy]]. Double when he [[spoiler: awakens Chisato's powers for the first time... and manipulates her into killing Hisae.]]

* CharacterAlignment:
** OAV!Miyu is LawfulNeutral (follows the rules given by the other Shinma, shows slight sympathy to humans but doesn't concern with them openly), whereas her TV counterpart is a darker version of NeutralGood (is more open and compassionate towards people, but in the first episode [[spoiler: she killed the Otaku who wanted her to make him a vampire and grossly misunderstood what vampirism truly was]]).
** Himiko Se is LawfulGood (hunts Miyu because she wants to protect others, sees things in black or white mostly).
** Larva is LawfulNeutral (mostly there to help Miyu in her ordeals, as per their bond as mistress and servant)
** Reiha is LawfulEvil (thinks Miyu is too soft-hearted to be the Guardian, doesn't kill humans out of bloodlust but doesn't care if they get caught)
** Chisato is arguably NeutralGood (is a normal kid caught in several screwed up situations. [[spoiler: She switches to NeutralEvil after her FaceHeelTurn, as she wants revenge for Tokiya's death and targets Miyu to get it.]])
