** The movie the guys watch in the camper with a monkey touching an egg and shooting into the air like a rocket was assumed to be a [[ShowWithinAShow fictional film]], however [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUS-T5BmMQU James Rolfe]] discovered that it was an actual film from 1982 called ''Grunt!''

** [[spoiler:Drew's dying words]] are [[Film/AvengersInfinityWar "I don't feel so good."]]

* EvilIsSexy: Creedence in her HotWitch form is widely considered one of the movie's highlights. There are those who think her bespectacled old lady form is [[SilverFox sexy]] too, probably because the makeup [[HollywoodHomely didn't hide]] her actress' age very well.

* HoYay: Drew sees Elliot and Brent sleeping in the same bed, with their shirts off.

* LesYay: Creedence tells the mom that she finds Holly to be "appetizing" and "provocative." Strangely, the mom expresses only slight bafflement.

** The way it feels a ''lot'' like a feature-length ''Series/{{Goosebumps}}'' episode, from the focus on CassandraTruth, to the low budget, to the acting and the hokey story.

%%* SoBadItsGood: So so much.

** ''Best Worst Movie'' reveals the director Claudio Fragasso, screenwriter Rossella Drudi and actress Margo Prey (who played the mom) all continue to take the film seriously. Fragasso bristles at the ironic cult following the film has achieved, while Prey compares the film to ''Film/{{Casablanca}}''. A horror critic in the same documentary claims that this is exactly why the movie is SoBadItsGood; just like Creator/EdWood, there is a very palpable sincerity from the filmmakers.

** ''Best Worst Movie'' reveals the director Claudio Fragasso, screenwriter Rossella Drudi and actress Margo Prey (who played the mom) all continue to take the film seriously. Fragasso bristles at the ironic cult following the film has achieved, while Prey compares the film to ''Film/{{Casablanca}}''.

** Let's be honest; most of Arnold's dialogue in general.

** The opening scene features a guy running away from goblins to [[SoundTrackDissonance rockin' party music]]. He comes across a girl with the fakest acne imaginable (someone clearly took an eyeliner pencil and just dotted her face), who feeds him green slime. Which, the Grandfather explains, was "delicious."
** Most of the performances alone are enough to qualify. George Hardy gives it his all as Michael Waits, but is clearly way out of his depth, pushing the character into BumblingDad territory. Darren Ewing as Arnold tries to convey the horror of his predicament but it comes out as DullSurprise.

* NightmareFuel: Yes, 99% of the movie is SoBadItsGood personified, [[spoiler:but the [[CruelTwistEnding ending sequence]] in which the (somehow) surviving goblins devour Joshua's mother is to at least some degree effectively creepy.]]

** In some countries, especially Europe, milk that can keep unrefrigerated actually is sold. However, ''Troll 2'' takes place in the US. The director and crew were Italian, further complicating matters.

* BileFascination: Most watch the movie for it's SoBadItsGood stasus among people.

** [[Literature/{{Twilight}} Meat-eating "vegetarians,"]] you say?

* SequelDisplacement: Despite not actually being a sequel to the original ''Film/{{Troll}}'', it is much more well known. If ''Troll'' is ever referenced outside of its "relationship" to ''Troll 2'', it is either because its protagonist is named Harry Potter over a decade before ''the Franchise/HarryPotter'', or because a pre-''Series/{{Seinfeld}}'' Creator/JuliaLouisDreyfus has a secondary role, and even then the SoOkayItsAverage film would likely be completely forgotten today without its NoBudget DolledUpInstallment CultClassic of a "sequel."

* IdiotPlot: No one in the family realizes that "Nilbog" is just [[BackwardsName Goblin spelled backwards]] until after they move there. Even then, Josh only notices because he sees a sign with the town's name in the mirror. If it weren't for this, they would presumably [[TheBadGuyWins all have gotten eaten.]]

* SoBadItsGood: So so much.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: There's a kernel of an intriguing concept here. A family goes on vacation to a TownWithADarkSecret, and their youngest son learns about it from the spirit of his deceased grandfather, but can't get anyone to believe him. Couple that with an unusual {{Horror}} film setting (the Mountain West) and this might have worked with better scripting and directing.

* DorkAge: Arguably one for Fragasso, whose previous films were at least seen as generally competent if not necessarily good. ''Troll 2'' wound up being the last of his long line of bad B-movies, and in the following years he transitioned into classier, better-received fare.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Hoo boy. Between the [[EightiesHair hairdos]], the gaudy neon & pastel wardrobes, the digital SynthPop soundtrack (some of which is just stock demo tracks on a loop), and the wide array of analog technology, ''Troll 2'' becomes a vivid time capsule of middle-class American life at the end of the 80's and the ''very'' start of the 90's.

** The film also [[YouKeepUsingThatWord seems to believe]] that "homosexuality" and "castration" are synonymous.

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: After watching the documentary about the film (''Best Worst Movie'') and learning some of the fates of the cast, poking fun at some of the actors loses some of its enjoyment. It's somewhat balanced out by [[EarnYourHappyEnding others in the cast having stable, productive lives]]... somewhat.

* HarsherInHindsight: The reverend of Nilbog's cult-like church bears an uncanny resemblance to [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Koresh David Koresh]], the leader of the Branch Davidian cult that was assaulted during the Waco Siege, which the film preceded by three years. Even more harsh is the fact that he ends up [[spoiler:being killed by being set on fire by the family]].
